Best menu and food in downtown Anoka with very reasonable prices. The dive bar atmosphere and historic charm add to the experience. Nothing fancy, but good drinks, great food and sometimes good live music .

We LOVE the River City Saloon! Bikers frequent here, which makes the road out front simply breathtaking with all of the GORGEOUS bikes lined up. Some of the nicest clientele I've ever had the pleasure of hanging out with. On top of that, the bartenders and servers are so friendly and accommodating: they really remember your face and order, and make you feel like a regular. Which, after eating the food, you WILL become a regular. We work right upstairs from the River City Saloon, which makes it really hard to resist stopping in each and every single day of the week! Plus, the rides that they organize are so impressive and I really love watching them take off from my window. You can't go wrong with the River City Saloon in Downtown Anoka!

Probably won't be coming back here. Mediocre food and super slow service. We had some business in Anoka so three of us stopped here for lunch. We stood at the intersection (with four or five food choices) and totally picked River City Saloon at random. SLOW... For the first 45 minutes or so, there was only one other table here for lunch. So there was no excuse for taking 30 minutes for food. Several FOOD PREPARATION MISTAKES... My 2 piece chicken was overcooked to hell. Plus, I asked for white meat and I got 2 dark and 1 white. I guess I shouldn't bitch because they threw in an extra piece. The mashed potatoes were the gross, just-add-water style. They totally screwed up my wife's oriental chicken salad. They didn't remove the noodles that she hates and didn't put the stuff on the side that she wanted on the side. Our friend hardly touched his buffalo chicken sandwich and left most of it uneaten at the table...not a good sign. The service, however, was pretty good. There was ONE bar tender serving the entire place! By the time we left, it was busy and she was running back & forth like crazy. I felt sorry for her. -Daddy Maxx Retro

By far the best food I have found on Jackson St. Love the burgers. Cooked on a flat top griddle with butter. No char grilled taste. Tried their home made chips with a ranch season. Very good. Staff was sociable and accommodating. We will be back for their Friday night Rib special. Good local musicians?

Honestly? I think the food here is arguably some of the best in downtown Anoka. Too bad there's a big stigma surrounding them that I ended up finding out was true. I'm a local worker that eats downtown weekly, sometimes several times a week. And I heard from everyone how this restaurant was great but nickel and dimed you on every request you had. Well I gave it three shots with co-workers that were new and it turned out the stories were true. Each time it just seemed like either our waitress or the owners were disingenuous. And it's always been the same waitress mind you. First time I ordered a cup of soup, got the cup, and was charged a crock. Caught it, but the waitress was very defensive in changing my bill. Just an fyi, I'm very passive and will never complain at a restaurant. I've worked in them, and usually swallow my pride but wow was I surprised in her handling of it. Second time I was ordering the soup and 1/2 sandwich special which was $5.99. I asked the waitress which sandwiches were available with the deal and she leaned in as if she was almost telling us a secret and said "all of them". Well I ordered the Reuben.....legit right?!? Well, I was up charged the cheese, sauerkraut, and 1000 island dressing. Each a separate charge. Complained and was given the roundabout answer, whatever, not going to push it. Long story short, $10.00, pre-tip. Now when deciding on where to eat we joke about going to river city for the $6 lunch special for ten bucks. Third visit? Well I got significantly up charged for everything but we already had the joke in our group that I was the cursed one and as a foodie, I'll put up with a lot if your food still performs. Well we hit our last straw. How much would you pay for a plain average sized hot dog and a side of fries? Not a big dog, just your average 8 pack size? Also bear in mind by fries I mean maybe and I mean maybe a medium size (McDonald's size, yea I worked there so I know) ? $11.00 sound reasonable pre-tip? Co-worker questioned the pricing (again different on the menu) and the same waitress claimed the owner said it's different pricing when you order it that way. I'm not sure if the waitress (only one we've ever had on all visits who is older) is the owner, but I sure hope she was. Because if I was the owner I'd be very angry that my main drive of income (the county) jokes about horrible this restaurant is. I'm not sure if she is trying to run up the bill to increase her tip or what. News flash, my group tips 20% minimum, every time. Yes even the ones above. But if we didn't feel robbed every time we came in we'd tip much much more. Sadly, the rumors were true in my workplace, which explains why all the other restaurants down town are so busy and this place is a wasteland at lunch. You had your shot, your food was good, but none of us will be back. And now we have our own stories to add in our workplace.

This is a good old dive type place. Mostly a biker type bar full of locals but they have some great food. The ceiling used to be covered in bras that girls would hang but I'm guessing that it was a fire code hazard because recently they took down all the bras and placed them orderely on the walls; which honestly looks nicer. Best thing here is the Brunch Burger which comes with an egg on it. I always ask for the egg over easy. Makes a lot of mess but tastes amazing! Just a fun little bar to bop on in if you are ever in the area.

Best burger I've ever had. It was called a West (or east) of city burger. Truly awesome.
