Weston Station was once a family favorite where we celebrated many occasions and always took out of town guests. Since new management has taken over a lot of the wonderful staff have quit or been fired. The great chef and friendly, compentent bartender have gone. The food has went downhill while prices have went up. On a recent visit the walleye was very fishy and not fresh at all. It was inedible. The quality and preparation of a steak was very dissapointing as well. On our last and final visit, they could not even manage to honor our reservation and were not even apologetic in the least. We will not be back.

If you want a solid steak dinner, with a big fat baked potato to boot--then Weston Station is it. Filet mignon is the best in Alexandria(context). Calamari is a good starter option. The prices are high compared to most Alexandria restaurants, but when compared to the rest of the world, it's still a value. Oh--and who could review Weston Station without mentioning that half of the restaurant in an old train car. That adds to the experience, but it's a small space and intimate. Not for the kids. The rest of the restaurant does seem kid friendly, however, I have never brought the kids there. If I did bring the kids, they would demand to sit in the train car and terrorize all the couples, most who are celebrating some sort of special occasion. So, if your kids are like mine, leave them at home.

This is a must-dine-at for me when I'm in Minnesota. The food's excellent, the service impeccable, and the owners circulate to make sure everything is always as it should be. The "main" restaurant is an old train car, refurbished and way cool, and often vintage music is softly piped in for a very pleasant background. (If you want to watch the cooks, there's another room with a good view of the open kitchen, but who'd pass up a chance to sit in the cool train car?) I've never had a meal here that was less than perfect. I love all their pasta selections and the steaks, and the walnut-crusted chicken is to die for!

[THE DIRECTIONS LISTED ON THE YELP GOOGLE MAP FOR THE WESTON STATION ARE INCORRECT] Okay, I'll admit that I'm grading the Weston Station on a bit of a curve. This would not be a four-star caliber restaurant if it wasn't located in an area devoid of fine food and culture*. That said, for rural Minnesota, this place is actually quite good. Sure, the whole concept of eating in a train car is a bit kitsch (well, more than a bit) but if you can get over the hockeyness of the whole matter you might actually end up enjoying your meal. The name of the game here is traditional American with a very very very loose Italian influence. If you're dining on a budget you should know that there are a smattering of entrees that cost $10. Otherwise expect to spend between $15-20. Pasta is always a safe bet at the Weston Station; it's hard to screw up. The French onion soup is another winner. The steak can be hit or miss: just remind yourself that you are eating in a train car in the backwoods of Minnesota--NOT AT MANNY'S--and you'll survive. If you're in Alexandria and have a hankering for fine dining I recommend heading over to the Weston Station. The fare here isn't the finest in the world, but, as a foodie who spent most of his adolescence in Alexandria, I can attest that the Weston Station is the best of your mediocre options. *Alexandria is my hometown so I'm allowed to be mean.

Service was great! My husband and I had a steak and ribs with a lobster tail. YUMMY! Sides were good too :) We will be coming back and recommend that everyone try this place as well! I would like to mention that I am extremely picky! We also had desert which was great too!

My favorite place to go for a great steak, good atmosphere, and enjoyable evening. The food is amazing and the owner can be found chatting with patrons and making everyone feel waited on and welcomed. You'll never regret a night at Weston Station!

Numerous problems; a few bright spots. Service was extremely slow, but they did comp us a glass of wine in apology. We sat in the 'train' portion of the restaurant, and it is seriously crowded. To the point that I would call it downright uncomfortable. The French Onion Soup is heavenly. However, the rest of our meal was just acceptable. Even the most basic of chefs should know how to properly season food. Not in this case. The menu makes everything sound like it's going to be done well, and given the prices for this area, the food should be fabulous. The quality does not live up to the prices. Nice wine menu; servers and hostesses were all very nice and working hard. Waited a full hour for food. We did find it to be clean and well-kept. Might try again to give it one more chance; however, I will surely not dine in the train car again.

Great food Great Service. The Waitress even took the toddler away while we ate. And he was happy as a lark. Love this place

Ok, so let's get this out of the way first: Weston Station is a converted train carriage, made into a restaurant. The actual carriage itself was around in the lot a long time before the current owner bought it, and had the really cool idea to turn it into a restaurant. For that, and that alone, one should visit this place. Once. Once because, while the service is friendly, and the wine list interesting, the food, well, is just okay. Very standard fare, very Mid-Western portions, and very boring for all that. The ambiance, while interesting, is a little cramped in that there carriage, and you can, for some reason, feel the years of dirt and neglect in there. Not that I could actually see/touch any dirt, mind you, it just *felt* dirty and old and...generally..bleh. I feel like a major renovation, and a different chef would give this place a better rating. For now, though, three stars is what it gets.
