The Interlachen Inn has been a stable in Alexandria for decades and is always a favorite stop for our family. We called ahead and got a reservation for six, since the theater is right down the street and the Inn can get pretty filled up most nights in the summer. The waitress was friendly and prompt with our drinks. Most of us ordered the walleye, which is a local favorite in Minnesota. All of the walleye dishes where $19.95 and included soup or salad, choice of potato and vegetable. The soup of the day was tomato basil, which had large chunks of tomato, but could've used more seasoning. Most dinner entrees were $15 and up, but they did offer burgers and sandwiches, which were around $8-$12, so very reasonable. They also had a few beers on draft and offered a full bar for mixed drinks. I ordered the garlic walleye, which was cooked perfectly and came with a side of melted garlic butter. I also tried the panfried walleye, which was by far the best preparation for walleye. A must for next time. The only room for improvement was that the side of green beans looked and tasted like they came out of a can. The Interlachen Inn is open for lunch and dinner and is just a great place to get a casual meal at the lake.

Second time visiting here. Four years ago and then this past Sunday on our wedding anniversary. We liked the food really well. Garlic shrimp for the missus and Lousiana style ribs for me. Food was pretty good; I really dug the au gratin potatoes along with my ribs, and the salads were crisp and fresh. My wife was very complementary on her shrimp. She didn't like her hash browns as much as she liked my potatoes. The drinks were actually quite reasonably priced as opposed to the normal in the Twin Cities. We were under $70 for two entrees, a couple drinks, a glass of wine, and a beer. I would recommend if you are looking for an inexpensive "special" dinner.

I ate at a Perkins 15 years ago, thought I put the greasy spoon experience behind me until now.

Overcooked burgers, Tasteless, cold fries from a bag. Clueless, unorganized wait staff. My daughters soda was so watered down you could not taste what we were told was Sprite. The waitress said, that's the way it is and did not even offer to comp for it.

Wow, has this place changed since the old days of a schmantzy steak house but I did enjoy the fact they had a pretty cool band after the annoying tunes at Zorbaz. I am reading some not so good reviews on the food so guess I'll stick to beer and music for now.

Nasty. Typical Midwestern fare: meat and potatoes, bagged salad, awful dressings. Honey mustard was approaching offensive. Blue cheese was just ranch. Ribs were dry. Salmon was dry. Steak was undercooked. Dinner rolls were crusted with sea salt so were too thirsty. I know I have a different palate than the locals, but if you're a foodie, you won't be impressed.

One of my favorites for lunch. Excellent, affordable dining (be sure to have their seafood chowder) and a relaxed atmosphere.

Had dinner at Interlachen tonight... It is the last time that I will ever eat there again! Ordered Pan Fried Walleye with Hashbrowns and Hubby ordered Prime Rib with Mashed...wanted a Ceasar Salad... Could only get a house salad with our meals so we orders Ceasar and split... Our salad and Entree came out together. Waitress asked if we wanted anything else? Oh sure!!!! Bring out dessert now also!...haha. Pan Fried Walleye was probably pan fried at one time and then microwaved! I have to admit the End Cut of PrimeRib was nice and juicy and medium rare. I guess Fine Dining is no longer at Interlachen Inn...

First I will say that I understand it was a busy weekend in Alexandria. Second, I have eaten here before with no issues. With that said, we waited 45 minutes for a table (that's okay, we didn't have a reservation), but to wait almost 2 hours for food after that, of which nothing was out of the ordinary? I think not. I will likely not return because of the poor experience. Food was good, but good golly people, you should tell people that the kitchen is overwhelmed so they can go elsewhere. I do not eat at 9 in the evening. That's for big city folks.
