This place is a gem. We eat here every other weekend. The portions are huge and everything is delicious. The staff is super friendly and I've never had an order screwed up. I recommend the bomber to everyone that comes to the area.

So good! Food was AMAZING staff was friendly and efficient. Prices are fair for the amount of food you get. Caption crunch French toast is wonderful! Will definitely go back

The best thing about the Bomber is that this is where the locals eat. Out-of-towners are welcome too but this is where the neighborhood goes for a good meal at reasonable prices. The menu is simple, standard American diner fare, and breakfast is their strength. Eggs and grits or something more decadent like Captain Crunch french toast. Plan ahead though. Kitchen closes at 2:30 pm. Visa, Mc or cash. No AmEx.

Went to the Bomber for Father's Day breakfast with my kids and had a really great time!! The wait was about 20 minutes for our table of 7. Everyone was completely satisfied with the food and the company was great. Our server was very attentive and helpful as we had a 6 year old with us. Portions were huge which is a signature of this place. I had the Bacon, Sausage, & Cheese Omelette with American potatoes and wheat toast. I could only eat about half of it, I had to take the rest home for another meal. A really nice place to get breakfast in Ypsilanti!!

What an excellent breakfast spot! Portions are huge, the staff is super nice and all the food is exceptional. We came around noon and had no problems getting a table, plenty of space inside. I ordered the two eggs, potatoes, sausage, hashbrowns, with chicken fried steak. All topped with country gravy & cheese. Was it super gluttonous? Yes! Was is amazing? Yes! One of us ordered the "side" of homemade hash, it was huge! The blueberry pancakes short stack was two large pancakes. Prices were great, everything $6-$8 which is a steal given how much you get to eat! This place reminds me of diners back home, I will definitely be back!

Excellent service, food turn around time is FAST and the portion sizes are huge (you can easily share).

Man, people are really down on my all time favorite breakfast place! First off...NOT a place to eat if you are health conscious. This is the place you come for a full LB of hash browns with your eggs. I like my bacon as well, and this is one of three restaurants that doesn't serve it soggy. If you love big breakfasts, this place does deliver. Second...NOT a place to come if you are expecting something other than a hangover curing breakfast. If you're looking for something more upscale, than head to Ann Arbor...they have lots of brunch spots, etc. This is where you come after a really long night to indulge in something that will definitely impact your waistline! Not sure what to say about the waitstaff...I personally know about half of them. Mainly from being there every other weekend or so. Sometimes they get a little harried, but for the most part they're a nice group of girls. Is it high class, absolutely not. Is it worth what you pay for it...absolutely!

The breakfast burrito is my stand-by at The Bomber. Delicious with or without the flour tortilla and definitely enough to share. I also enjoy the french toast (get the half order, it's still an enormous portion) and my mom raved about the cheeseburger. Last time my roommate and I got the same thing, the cowboy skillet- hash browns mixed with onion and real bacon pieces, topped with cheese and an egg. The half order wasn't conquerable: so tasty, but still a lot of food crammed in a normal sized bowl! Super value time here!! The coffee is weak but the service is nice. I've only been forgotten once and it was smack in the middle of rush hour on a Sunday and when the server did come she was incredibly apologetic. I don't get down on this restaurant because their food is awesome for the price and the ambiance (seriously, I LOVE THE DECORATIONS.) and I understand they are understaffed. I agree that this is infinitely tastier and less questionable than the Double Eagle.

Great, home-y diner with an Air Force and EMU bent. Breakfast is king here. The Cap'n Crunch French toast is a unique and tasty plate, though the half order is plenty. Weekends also bring specials such as a decent eggs Benedict.

Excellent service from a happy staff and very nice presentation. Katie and Jeannette were our servers and both were very friendly. I admit I was a bit biased when Jeannette greeted my fiance and I by commenting on our choice to sit on the same side in the booth (as always) but she was the first to say anything. Glenn was our cook and the owner Joanna was also in the kitchen. Our Ultimate omelette was as delicious as I expected even though they forgot to sub swiss for american cheese, but as a cook I was instantly impressed by the presentation. Love this place, been going there for years. Support Ypsilanti legends. Go Gabriel's!

My husband and son are big breakfast people so we decided to give this place a try. Went on a Saturday and I am not sure if it is always like this or if an event was happening nearby but it was a line out the door to get in this place. Once we were finally seated, we were promptly served. Servers were friendly. Everything was clean. Decor was interesting with various military items. The portions here are ridiculously huge. Nothing stood out as exceptional but everyone was satisfied.

Amazing breakfast. I had the country skillet , husband had the bomber omelette, one son had the home made hash and the other had a burrito. Everything was cooked to perfection. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. Would definitely come back!

We loved this place! A lot of variety and great waitstaff. We each got something different but enjoyed each selection. We even ordered Cap'n Crunch French Toast just to try. It was surprisingly really good. Our family of 5 (14, 12, 7 year old boys) would highly recommend this restaurant. They even had leftovers which doesn't happen very often. Next time you are in the Ypsilanti area be sure to check it out!

2nd visit and I'm partially to blame for the 3 stars. I wanted to order an omelette w/gravy but at the last minute I changed my mind. I got the crab omelette instead. BIG MISTAKE. It wasn't fluffy, it was flat and over cooked. Barely any flavor of crab and I didn't even finish it. My husband got the Ultimate Omelette w/gravy (A+) and our friends got the beef hash (he loved it) and Eggs Benedict (she loved it). Staff was attentive, kind and service was quick. We got lucky on Saturday at 10:15a and got a table. In the future, we'll get there after 11:30a so we miss the morning rush hour. Overall, disappointed in my dish but will definitely return for the gravy omelettes! PS Captain Krunch french toast was pretty good. Too sweet for us but we had to order it once to know what all the hype was about! PSS Skillet dishes don't come in an actual skillet so that's disappointing.

After cramming into my table with oversized chairs, I dove into the menu. Many typical diner offerings made extra special by oversized portions and a stylish flair. However, two gems stand out: Captain Crunch French Toast! You order one piece expecting a tired piece of Texas toast dipped into crunchy bits of cereal but what came out was not only visually appetizing but oh-so-tasty as well. On a beautiful piece of French toast, Capt crunch cereal was grilled to perfection resulting in toast that was the right amount of dense yet perfectly soaked and tender. The taste perfectly reflects the sweet necessities of French toast with an added complexity of crunchy, slightly rich Capt Crunch cereal with notes of vanilla. I then hopped over to my husbands plate where there laid a Bomber omelet with hash browns covered in country gravy. Let me tell you... The things occurring on that plate were sinful. It was a breakfast orgy that saved the fireworks for the diner. Each bite was better than the last. The gravy molded together each ingredient and every once in a while a crunch piece of bacon broke up the ooey-gooey breakfast goodness, waking up my taste buds. I highly recommend this dish, especially if you've been lonely lately. It fills a void that very few things in life can....!

Holy cow- LOVE Yelp! Definitely a local favorite- HUGE take out business on Sunday morning. Food- diner food at its best. I got the skillet- yummy & and HUGE. Should of ordered 1/2. My accomplice ordered the pancake smash- massive pancakes, sausage, bacon & eggs. A side of potatoes was on a dinner plate! Love the decor- very Rosie the Riveter focused (girl power!) and WW2 memorabilia. Not 1, BUT FOUR, hot sauces on the table! If this were near me, would be my go to weekend breakfast spot. Thanks Bombers!

For the most part a standard breakfast/brunch diner, but the Captain Crunch French toast gets special recognition. Perfectly grilled cripsy exterior and fully-cooked but still soft inside. Comes with whipped cream and syrup, but honestly it has plenty of sugar and flavor on its own. Half order (2 massive slabs) should be plenty for most - only get the full-order if your belly is truly committed (that probably goes for almost everything on the menu). Very reasonable prices given the large portion sizes, and the wait staff is super friendly. Definitely a greasy spoon establishment, so unfortunately for more nutrition/health-conscious individuals (like myself), probably want to limit visits for occasional splurges.

Great breakfast food! It is an institution in this town. It it also a much nicer experience now that there is no smoking allowed by law. The service is always good and everyone seems happy to work there. If they aren't, you'd never know by their demeanor. It could really use a makeover though. It doesn't hurt their business at least for volume. On the weekends there is always a line. But the decor is too dated. That said, still 4 stars! Love this place.

Great Food, Big Portions, and Great Prices. The Bomber is absolutely the best breakfast in town, it is far superior to Abe's a couple blocks away. The Bomber has the best bacon ive ever had, its crispy, but still melts in your mouth. AS a local EMU student, I frequently come here for breakfast after working all night, partying, or studying. The closer to & or * am you can get here the better. The food comes out in little as 4 or 5 minutes sometimes. Everything here is so good, I don't know where to start. The breakfast burrito is huge, the french toast is amazing, and so is the cap'n crunch french toast with whip cream. I'm slowly working my way through the breakfast menu. The Bomber omelette has 4 eggs, and is loaded with meats and other veggies, and the sunrise biscuit, is covered with an egg and smothered with their home made gravy. This place is a must visit stop in Ypsilanti. The best breakfast I've ever had. It never dissapoints and always hits the spot. Plus if you are an EMU student you get 10 percent off by showing your id when you pay.

I've been back many times and took many visitors since my first visit and I must admit, I have fallen love with Bombers.... my favorite is the ultimate or bomber omelets, both smothered with the gravy on top! The gravy takes the dish to the next level. I typically don't finish the meal, so I eat half and take the rest home and eat it for dinner.... the service can be little slow when it's busy, but the wait staff do take care of you.

I had a wonderful breakfast here literally the best I've ever had in my life anywhere. They even offer a discount for EMU students which is so awesome! I got the sausage gravy and biscuit breakfast and everything was just so good I ate the whole thing in one sitting. We did have to wait a little bit but the owner kept track of who was in line in what order and the waitress was super nice and inviting. All around I enjoyed my first time here so much that I'm glad I stopped in after passing by several times wondering what kind of place it was. There's a lot of history in this restaurant and it's been around for a long time for good reason. They are great!

Cannot believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. I love The Bomber. Best greasy spoon in Ann Arbor/Ypsi area and best deal in town for your colon to get bombed on the cheap! (Earnestly mean that as a compliment.) Even though it's super busy on the weekends, I like to get their eggs benedict, which is only served on Saturday and Sundays. (Note however, that this is diner-style eggs benedict and I suspect that the crab benedict is actually krab; I recommend getting the traditional one with canadian bacon.)That Captain Crunch French toast half order is enough to put anyone back to bed, meaning I love it. And their cowboy skillets--think layers of potatoes, eggs, cheese, bacon, with gravy on top--is also yummy, but I only get the half order for that too. Sometimes after I eat there, especially with the skillets, I find myself looking into a shallow pool of grease at the bottom of my bowl and I think, wow, I need to make some dietary changes in my life. The people that work here are super friendly. Only odd thing is their decor that pays tribute to Michigan's contributions during WWII when Detroit was the arsenal of democracy. Think old uniforms dangling on the wall (with photos and posters too, yes) as you're eating your plate of eggs.

Park in the back. Parking spaces up front are rare. Extensive menu. Large servings. Do yourself a favor and try their specials, you won't be sorry. Friendly staff though the seating areas are a bit tight. They could certainly benefit from an expansion. If we return to this area, we'll definitely eat here again.

This is the place every other hometown restaurant strives to be. They have nailed down the most important thing - consistency! I have never gotten a single item that wasnt 100% perfect. And everything is always amazingly tasty. I love you bomber, never change!

Parking being the only issue- this little hidden gem has great comfort-food! Even ordering the half size breakfast was too much food for me to eat in one sitting! The sausage gravy is a MUST for anything breakfast-like with eggs or potatoes. Simply delicious and great staff!

I have an annual tradition of visiting Bomber on the morning after an event in Ypsilanti, and look forward to that morning's greasy spoon meal every time I open my eyes. The food is great, with large and hearty portions. The Crab Benedict was amazing and bursting with flavor, and the skillets are always delicious (and for the unhealthy, the $0.90 to add gravy is money well spent). Their pancakes are large and fluffy, and potatoes hearty. The place is busy during the breakfast rush, even more so on the weekends. If you arrive after 10:30am on a Saturday or Sunday, expect to wait as much as an hour. The service is pleasant but not particularly speedy.

Breakfast review: Lots of choices and reasonably priced. The biggest issue was the lack of flavor, everything was blah, tasteless like plastic display food. The pancakes while having fresh fruit suffered due to flavorless cheap bulk food service pancake battery. The nature lovers pancakes could have been amazing however the center was undercooked. I give props for the fresh fruit and pecans. The waitstaff was attentive and kept my coffee filled, yeah!!!

Why have I never ate here before? Seriously my first degree is in history and one of the amazing things about eating here is all the ill stuff they have on the walls and ceilings that you can look at and learn about the history of Ypsilanti. Had the peanut butter milkshake and home made hash skillet, also sampled some of the Cap'n Crunch french toast: the french toast was mind blowing, the peanut butter milkshake hit the spot, the hash skillet? Well, I'd never had a home made on before and I guess I prefer the canned stuff (Philistine that I am), but I give them props for putting it on the menu! This place fills up on the weekends and the lot is tiny so come early or be patient.

Man oh man do we love this place. It's a bit of a drive from our house but is well worth it. I'm telling you you better be hungry when you get here! I'm not a fan of thick pancakes but I gave there's a try the nature lovers pancake is out of this world but I bet you take some home in a carry out box lol. The skillet I also excellent since my daughter does not eat scrambled eggs they were more than happy to substitute the scrambled egg for one over medium. The wait staff is very attentive and very friendly. I definitely recommend trying this place out for breakfast. We have not tried to lunch or dinner there so I cannot give my opinion on that

My boyfriend and I just love this place. We usually come here on Sundays and there may be a wait if you get there too late. -captain crunch french toasts and its pretty big, the full size consist of 3 large slices, its good! wish they could put the captain crunch berries as well! -corned beef hash - love homemade hash! they do seem to put a lot of potatoes with little meat, be sure too distinguish from the homemade vs the canned one when ordering it My boyfriend has this weird request and the waitress (tina?) actually remembered it from the previous times which was nice! He didn't have to ask. Def, a good breakfast spot

I've been coming to this restaurant for over a decade. The food is pretty good--mostly hits and a few misses. I usually got the homemade corned beef hash and the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were doughy sometimes, but have been good lately. I decided to go there for lunch today, and the service was slow. My party waited 20 minutes to order. Then after 15 minutes, I asked how long it would be since I had to get to work. Their response was that the fish was what was taking so long. I would have been okay with taking our lunches to go, but they would not give me an estimate of how long it would be. I told them that I had to get to work so put down $5 cash to cover the one soda we ordered and a tip. The waitress followed us out, and called after us. She asked if we didn't want any of the food. I repeated that I had to go to work, and that I could not wait. She then told us that we would be banned from the restaurant and could never come back. Uh, okay. That's easy.

I can't believe I haven't written a review of this place yet! I have to agree with other yelpers that this is a great breakfast spot and other than the food tasting yummy, the price is on the cheaper side! I've ordered the corned beef hash (homemade) with eggs and have to also agree with others that the portion of coned beef hash is not proportionate to the potatoes, which makes me sad, but regardless, tasty and slightly greasy. The last time we went, we decided to spilt a small order of captin crunch french toast between four of us and could not believe how delicious it was! Next time, I'm going to wait and eat it after my meal. You don't really need the syrup because it's sweet enough with the whipped cream.

Totally thrilled with the total experience! Daily specials are on the board, Sunday's Egg's Benedict... Very pleased with this selection!! It was perfect in all ways, nice grilled Canadian bacon, superior poached eggs( this is usually when most places fail!) great sauce & tons of it.... Food Heaven!! As I see several stars &&& many happy diners enjoying the captain crunch French toast.... I couldn't leave without giving this a go.. Bomber's offers this several ways, which works nicely.. So I ordered the 1 piece, it comes served with whipped cream.. One bite & you will understand why everyone has a big smile on there faces... This is because, well it is very simple, captain crunch French toast does make you smile!! You will not be able to keep from smiling! This is pure excellence!!! If we had 6 stars available, Bomber's would have 6 stars!!! This was truly a pleasure & I will be back!

I love the Bomber. It's the perfect diner. The portions are huge and the prices are great. My husband gets the skillets and omelets (which are great). I've always ordered the pancakes (I have a big sweet tooth). They are HUGE and amazing. I recommend the nature ones with raspberries, blueberries, and granola. Last time I had a slice of their coconut cream pie (it was my pre-dessert before my dessert of pancakes). It was very tasty. I'm a very picky coffee drinker. So, the coffee was good when compared to other diners. The service is friendly, personal, and helpful. I will be back again!

I love this place with a passion unlike any other! I love diners, specifically, so this was bound to be a place I loved, but the Bomber does diner better than anywhere else. They give you the BIGGEST servings for cheap cheap cheap. When me and my dad go here on Saturday mornings we split one of the big breakfasts and then there is still a to go box full of leftovers that a third person can gorge themselves on (I mean we both eat until we are stuffed silly and then there is a whole additional serving equal to the size we just ate left over)! Who doesn't love all those wonderfully carb-loaded breakfast foods sopped in butter and syrup? Well THIS is the place to get it! Old regalia decorates the walls while bomber planes hang from the ceiling. No muss no fuss decor but it is comfy and cozy. They used to have mismatched mugs which added to the kitschy charm, but they did recently get matching coffee mugs. This place is so good my Dad will go there and eat by himself. I hope the Bomber never goes away. I can just see myself bringing my kids here to teach them how to appreciate Americana!

This is a great spot to stop for breakfast. A friend convinced me to try their famous Cap'n Crunch French Toast the first time I went. The portions are ridiculously big, and they're good. I've also tried their Chocolate/Hazelnut (aka Nutella) French toast, which is also good. Sides are great as well. Servers are always friendly and attentive. A good place overall.

Bomber is one of my favorite greasy spoon spots in SE Michigan. It's the perfect place to go to after a long day of consuming alcoholic beverages. You do have to arrive early (no later than 10:30) to beat the church crowd and the college kids that have finally rolled out of bed. The restaurant is always full, which is a great sign for a local diner that hopefully will be around for many more years to come. I've tried their skillets, breakfast burrito, crab benedict, and they're all really good. Even though I've gone there for years, I usually only get to go there about once a year, the Country Skillet, with the over medium eggs, sausage gravy, and home fries, is the tried and true dish that I keep going back to because there's no chance I can ever replicate that at home. Since the restaurant is always full, don't expect super fast service. But the food more than makes up for it.

Overall this is a decent place. My kids and I went for breakfast during the week. It wasn't very busy. The portions are HUGE! We all had to get a box to take food with us. We had a combination of breakfast and lunch between the three of us. My food was good and the kids seem to have no complaints. The waitress was average. Overall a decent place yes I would recommend.

Great place to eat. Everything about this restaurant speaks of the unique quality you can only find from a mom 'n pop owned business. Portions are huge. While not 5-star quality, it's a step big above your usual Coney Island. It should be noted that unless you're really hungry, always go with the half order. I don't want to meet the person who can put away a full-order.
This has long been my place for breakfasts as I would be getting out of work at around the time they would open. And I do admit that I love a good greasy spoon diner far too much.

We came here for breakfast on Saturday morning and it was packed, as expected. We took a seat at the counter to speed things along. From the time we sat down and ordered to the time our food came, it had been almost an hour! They kept my coffee full the whole time we waited though, so I was happy. It ended up being worth the wait, the Cap'n Crunch French Toast was awesome, and we split some hash browns with green pepper and cheese that were insane! Sean and I kept saying how full we were, but we kept taking bites. We couldn't help it! I walked out feeling like a total heffer. This place is one of the best places for breakfast around. If you're here on a weekend morning, expect a wait. Their dining room isn't very big, but they do have some seating up at the counter that is often passed up by the people waiting for a table, so if you're hungry then go for those. They still have all of their planes and war memorabilia on the walls, so it's an interesting place. The staff here is wonderful as well, it doesn't get much better than them. I've never had a bad service experience here. A must try if you're in the area.

This is THE classic Ypsi breakfast place. You have got to try the Captain Crunch french toast, which is excellent. Friendly people, cool atmosphere. You haven't been to Ypsilanti unless you've checked out the Bomber. Very cool historical photographs on all the walls.

They were packed when we arrived, with a line out the door; however, we were seated not too long afterwards. Our orders were taken soon after by the friendly staff. Although I love this type of food, it usually doesn't sit well with me, and I was expected to feel like shit afterwards. However, I ordered the greek omelet with egg beaters and it was just right, and not totally soggy with grease. It gets kinda loud in there so don't plan on having an intimate conversation or anything. I'd go back.

Well known for their "super sized" servings, although in reality the serving sizes really weren't that big. Quantity does NOT make up for quality. Our group had a mixture of omelets, home made corned beef hash, and burgers. The general consensus was that only the burger was really worthwhile. The prices are way too high for the low quality of the food! The restaurant itself was quite run down, and desperately needed a good cleaning. The cheap plastic airplane models could be a catchy idea, if not set against a backdrop of dirty, yellowed, water-stained drop ceiling tiles. The clientele was straight out of a Wal-Mart disaster movie, and the service was slow (although pleasant when we did finally get some). I had a bomber omelet, which consisted of just about everything rolled into a 4 egg concoction and smothered with sausage gravy, served with toast and hash-browns. This was by far the most dense omelet I have ever eaten, and I don't mean that in a good way. The sausage gravy was basically average at best. The only flavor I can associate with the hash browns is "burned". They weren't, but they tasted like they were (something left over on the grill maybe?). This disaster breakfast cost me ~$9.00! I did get a glimpse of their famous breakfast skillets (bowls), and I was not impressed at all. Bottom line: The Bomber BOMBED! Skip this place, it is extremely over rated!

I highly recommend the following steps for the ultimate Bomber experience: 1. shamefully over imbibe the night before 2. sleep until 1pm 3. wake with the intense need for something to absorb all the sin still nestled stubbornly in your belly 4. go and have the greasy but most tasty feast of your life. The country skillet with an english muffin will do the trick (about a quarter of that thing fed me nice and proper). Liberally douse with ketchup for that zing and zang to cut the savory. Biscuits are a little 'meh,' I'd order a different side. 5. come home, dedicate a day to recovery 6. take 3 hour nap due to food coma and body saying "eff you" 7. wake like little miss sunshine TADA! Waitress we had was phenomenal. I don't know how she covered the whole floor so efficiently and warmly but S.O. and I were both completely charmed and appreciative. PSA: Don't forget to tip well! Diner meals are always on the less expensive side and 15% doesn't cut it for the amount of work these ladies do. Glory glory hallelujah. I may eat here once a month due to portions and grease factor, but it will be my trick in the bag for all things comfort-food and hung-over related.

A great American restaurant with a lot of family appeal, overly decorated in its namesake 'Bombers' and war apparel, which isn't bad, and it makes the place unique. I ordered the Greet Omelet, and was not disappointed with the portion size or the taste, the omelet was fluffy and not overcooked. The waitress that I had was phenomenal, always on the spot when you needed a refill, and quick to ask if you needed something without being pushy. At the end of our dinning experience my fiance asked me for change (to pay the bill, we were going to leave some tip on the table too). The waiteress quickly gave her $0.25 because I was too slow to react, it was just one of those moments. Never had a waitress offer someone $0.25 to pay their bill (not that we needed the money). She just said "What comes around goes around, thats what I think. So take it!", and so we did. Will definitely come back here when I need a large American breakfast ;)

Loved it. My husband and I were visiting from Northern Kentucky and happened upon this little restaurant open on SUNDAY MORNING. Where we come from, unless it's a Waffle House, that's just unheard of. When we arrived at 9:30 or so, the place was hoppin--chock full of families and folks getting ready to go to the air show at Willow Run, regulars sipping coffee at the counter, even carry out. Perusing the menu, I can see why--it was very tough to figure out whether I wanted breakfast, or a fried bologna sandwich, a childhood favorite--or the homemade corned beef hash--truly, glad it was so busy because I needed some time to make my decision! I ended up with the French Slam and my husband got the Pancake Slam. Neither of us were sorry--wonderful sausage and bacon, egg with cheese and really ginormous, but very tasty French toast and pancakes. Coffee was bottomless and good tasting, served in giant mugs. Add to this that my husband is crazy about WWII military aviation, awesome service, friendly regulars: this is a place to definitely visit again when we pass through Ypsi.

This place had lots of stuff I love: large tables, seats with good support, friendly waitresses that keep your diet coke topped off, and a nice cold bathroom. The bomber breakfast is a ton of food at a great price and I loved the quantity. However, I have to ding them on the bacon - it was too salty. I mean really salty - and I love salt.

Food is YUMMY! Don't care for seating tho. They have long tables and sit groups together. Not into eating with people I don't know... I'll wait for a booth to open. It is not unusual for you to have to wait. The business is small, but it is worth the wait. Food comes out fast! And you should walk away full with leftovers most of the time!! Never tried anything other than breakfast food... which they do serve... but is odd to see orders for anything other than BREAKFAST... #1 place for breakfast!!!

The Bomber is a 100% American Diner. There is nothing fancy about this thing but it is warm, inviting and comfortable. This is the kind of place that you can roll into in your sweats after a night of serious drinking with your sunglasses on the whole time and no one will ask you any questions. You can park on the street in the front or in the lot out back. There is a back door so you don't even have to walk around to the front. Once you get inside it becomes quite clear that there is a theme going on here. The walls are covered in uniforms, pictures of planes and there are planes hanging. If The Bomber were a person you would never have a hard time finding them a birthday present. The food is big and greasy. I am a big fan of traditional breakfast at places like this so I always get two eggs sunny side up, wheat toast and American fries with onions in them. It is always everything I expect it to be. My grandfather is a big fan of their bacon. I don't know that it is any different than most places but man he will not shut up about it. One of the best parts about this place is that the girls working here are my favorite kind of waitress. The ones that work there because it is their job. They are friendly, care about their customers and they are HARD WORKING. They run around with plates up their arms calling everyone sweetheart and filling your coffee before it goes dry.

This is my favorite breakfast spot in Ypsi, the hash browns are amazing and most likely terrible for you! It's usually packed in here, but the service is mostly good. The first time we came here, it took a while to get our food, but the last time we came it was speedy. The food is good and the atmosphere is pretty cool too.

The bomber continues to be a great place for breakfast. The quality is consistent. The coffee cup is always full. This time I tried one of their skillets. Wow.. eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, sausage gravy. This is a heart attack waiting to happen, but it's oh so good.

It's an Ypsi stable, and always satisfies. Haven't been here in years but happen to be treated to brunch and was blown away by their Nature Lover's Pancakes. We are talking bunches of blueberries, raspberries & pecans shoved in thick and ginormous flap jacks. I am a firm believer that waffles are superior to pancakes, but I'll make an exception. Huge portions, cheap & delicious!

This is the hidden gem of breakfast places around Ann Arbor! I almost don't want to tell anyone, because God forbid it becomes one of those breakfast spots around here with an hour long wait but their food is AWESOME! Huge portions and cheap prices as well. Such a divey and delicious spot!

The bomber has perhaps the coolest decorations of any diner I've ever been in. The walls are covered in WWII aviation-themed pictures and news articles, which is an homage to Ypsilanti manufacturing history. The waitresses are so nice. The food is very generously portioned. My partner got the saddlebag pancakes, which are pancakes with meat cooked inside. They had a quasi-dense quality, combining the fluffy sweetness of pancake batter when the meaty manliness that is bacon and sausage, I got a simple hash, eggs and bacon breakfast, and it was very good. My eggs were cooked perfectly. My hash was nice and crispy but not too greasy. The prices were a bargain, too. All in all, quite a good meal!

I cannot describe the internal tug of war going on for me with this place. Did I or didn't I like it? I am having such a tough time deciding, that I've written, and rewritten this review about 5 times. The fact is, I think I WANT to like it more than I actually did. I went this restaurant excited because of the previous raves. The way some reviewers described the absolute glee of their experience, I was half expecting to receive a happy ending with my breakfast. The atmosphere of this place is fabulous. It's littered with old WW2 memorabilia and instantly takes you back to a more simpler, and quite frankly, better time. The menu was so extensive that I actually felt a little overwhelmed. However, following in the footsteps of previous Yelpers, I ordered the 1/2 Cowboy Skillet. All I can say is Wow! I was blown away by this explosion of taste and consistency. The peppery gravy mixed in with the huge bacon chunks, egg, biscuits and American fries were having a battle in my mouth and each flavor took turns standing out. The flavor ended up being so intense that I grew tired of it pretty quickly. I needed something like a basic pancake on the side to balance things out. I had reached that halfway point where I just couldn't do another bite. Not because I was full, but because I just was done with the taste. If you have a more basic palate like me, this may not be your best choice. I can see how people can go crazy for it though, because during the 1st three bites, I could have sworn I died and was in heaven. The service was a little slow, but not unbearable, and the coffee was good and hot. All in all, I was happy with the food and experience. Not overjoyed, but happy. Their portions are enormous which is never a bad thing. I'd go back.

Good food, reasonable price, ridiculously big portions. Skillets are really good, so are omelettes. I'm a big fan of the home made corned beef hash although sometimes the portion of corned beef varies (it makes me sad when they skimp]. Pancakes are a little too dense for my taste, and they are ridiculously big, like everything else here.

I've lived in the area for a few decades and not sure why I've never been here. Thanks to Mariah for having a CMYE here. Everything I saw looked great. I had eggs, bacon and toast; all of which were absolutely perfectly cooked; the eggs were beautifully over-easy, the bacon was crisp and patted off until dry, the toast just right. The service was great. They didn't have more than 3 or 4 servers running this large dining room and they were on top of it. They even warned first-time diners about the size of a full-order of pancakes. Great value.

I like it here alot. Some visits have been stellar but follow ups just ok at times. I find you get better food and service if it is crowded. I usually order a full order Cowboy Skillet, a huge bowl of hash browns with onions topped with bacon, eggs to order and cheddar cheese. There is an upcharge to cover it with country gravy but man is it worth it! The half order would be enough for me, you could easily split it with a friend. The scrambled eggs are the option to go with in my opinion. The bowl is just incredible, buttery potatoes, sweet onion, creamy lucious gravy and crisp but not overcooked bacon. Mmmmm. I generally take half home with me and it reheats well. I have also eaten the Homemade Corned Beef Hash. Chunky with fresh corned beef, buttery potatoes, onions and green peppers. Mighty good stuff but not as much my thing. I really like the Nature Lover's pancakes, full of pecans, blueberries and raspberries. Three giantic fluffy cakes. They're so delicious they don't even need butter and syrup. Words cannot do this big stack justice. My husband gets the french toast combo breakfast almost every single time. I love the french toast but he rarely shares any. The decor is all aeronautical, with planes and even bombs overhead and aviation themed memorabilia on the walls. Countryish decor fills in. Not unpleasant at all. The neighborhood is a bit run down but inside it is quite homey.

I love breakfast, and a diner/greasy spoon/Jersey Diner breakfast is the best of all. This place hits all the marks for me. Number one - the potatoes. They are not frozen hashed browns cooked too fast, they are real potatoes done well. I had the Cowboy Skillet with the gravy top and I could not finish it. It is very rare for me to not finish fried potatoes with eggs. Did I mention I love breakfast?!? What a great stop for me on the way to DTW! Thanks Bomber.

Best breakfast in all of Ypsilanti, and probably Ann Arbor as well. Staff is wonderful and the cooks are awesome. The place is very clean and kept up. I have not one single complaint. Keep it up Bomber!

After hearing about The Bomber and reading the yelp reviews I was excited about going. The bomber is a cute nothing fancy small town feel diner. We were served coffee before ordering, which was great. My BF and I decided to split a Cowboy Skillet and an order of biscuits and gravy. We were with a large group, so someone also ordered the Captain Crunch french toast for us to try. The food came out sort of quickly, but we received our food about 3-4 people at a time. I start off with the biscuits and gravy. Woah, talk about a peppery gravy, a little too peppery for my taste. The biscuits were just OK. I've definitely had better. As for the Cowboy Skillet...I don't get the raves. It was OK, but by no means anything special. There were so many potatoes; the ratio of potatoes to eggs/bacon was way off. The reason, I rated a 3 and not a 2 was all because of the Captain Crunch french toast. What a delicious invention! It sounds weird, but boy oh boy was it tasty! You didn't even need syrup. At this point everyone was more than halfway done with their plates and looking at empty coffee mugs. You wouldn't believe how long we tried to get someone to bring us coffee...it was kind of ridiculous. It even took awhile for someone to come and ring us up so we could pay. Oh Bomber, I had such high hopes for you!

I love the Bomber! I'm a DC guy and I have to go to The Bomber every time I'm up in Michigan. Fortunately, my boyfriend recently moved to the DC area from Michigan. Yay! Unfortunately that means there will be far fewer trips to The Bomber in my future. Boo! Home-made food, huge selection, Bomber Specials (Captain Crunch French Toast!)... all delicious. The portions are enormous... French toast looks like an entire loaf of bread sliced length-wise and I think a full order is actually an entire loaf of bread! My favorites are the Bomber Dog (deep fried hotdog with the works) and the Skillet (a pan of various breakfasty ingredients including hash browns, scrambled eggs, sausage, cheese, gravy, ...). If I lived in Ypsi or anywhere nearby I would definitely weigh 100 more than I currently do. One ding -- the carpets are disgusting. It's *really* time to replace them. This ding is not enough to knock The Bomber off of my 5-star list though. :) Edit: they replaced the carpet! It probably needs to be cleaned again though. The food is still outstanding, as are the staff members.

I was so happy to come across yelp reviews for this place. The reviews are what brought me in, and I think the Hubs and I have been there about 4 times since. Their breakfast items are awesome. Everything I've had there was sooo delicious. Pancakes, their "cowboy," breakfast burrito...everything. I am kind of salivating writing about this place now.

We ate here before the EMU Toledo game. The Bomber dog was great, add the chi It is worth it I had fried bologna sandwich. It was good, I wish it was one thick piece rather than two thin pieces, personal preference. The broccoli pepper jack soup was great. Our server was great, she was friendly and kept the five of us drinker up, no empties. The reason I dinged the one star. Reubens come on rye bread, one of ours came on white toast. Big disappointment. Price was good. We would eat there again which says a lot since we see every city on the rockets schedule. Go, enjoy, and talk to the other diners at your community table.

I ordered the crab omelet and it was yummy. This place has decor and memorabilia from WWII which was very cool and the wait staff was super nice and attentive, despite being very busy. I think I found a new fav breakfast spot.

Bland. My breakfast was generous, but there wasn't any taste to it--and I don't think it's just the job of hot sauce and ketchup to make diner food appetizing...The portions were huge, which would have been great if there was any flavor--I can see that the cost per portion size is a really good deal. But I still don't see what everyone's raving about food-wise. I could (and will) easily cook much better tasting eggs at home. I *will* say the coffee was perfect diner coffee, and our waitress was spot-on and very friendly, she made us feel very welcome.

I would actually like to give them an extra star for helping me figure out a lifelong wonder....What WOULD my last meal on earth be? A Cowboy Skillet from Bomber, no question! Also have you ever seen that show "The Best Thing I Ever Ate"? Well, needless to say also...a Cowboy Skillet. However I think I will get it without the bacon next time, as I'm the one ususally picking the actual meat off bacon vs. eating the fat. Had I tried that with this meal, it would have been a mess and a waste of all that wonderful cloggery of country gravy. The country gravy is simply the best I've EVER had and I usually only order Biscuits and Gravy when we eat at breakfrast places. Well now I can add Bomber Restaurant to the top of the list and also to the list of "Reaons Why I Could Never be on Biggest Loser" Well that and I don't want to get yelled at :) Sorry off topic but basically, If you're looking for a great breakfast, hangover cure, or just a heart attack, go to the Bomber!!

Exactly what I expected. Friendly service, cozy diner feel, and military memorabilia. The weekday breakfast specials are a great bargain. Seems to be the type of place that serves mostly regulars, but I was made to feel welcome. The coffee could be better, but it's a diner so on par with what you'd expect.

The Bomber is one of those classic breakfast places that everyone must go to at least once in their lifetime. Their war memorabilia is literally priceless and the staff is awesome. The history of this place deserves to be in high school textbooks! On to the food; I have had French Toast all over the country and this place not only beats them all but destroys them! I am happy to drive an hour just for this! If you have the guts for it, try the Bomber Breakfast. I ran track for EMU back in the day and even some of our best and biggest throwers struggled to down this massive dish! All around, a great restaurant with the best atmosphere and excellent food. Thanks to everyone at the Bomber for continuing the historic restaurant's quality and preserving a priceless piece of our WWII heritage!

I have brought 3 people here over the last year or so and they have all loved it! I have had several great breakfasts and also enjoyed the club sandwich and onion rings. It's great diner food and really tasty. Last time we got here late and had to sit at the group tables which was cool. The WWII decor of the place is classic and I wish my grandfather's were still alive since I know they would get a huge kick out of it! I have always had great service here too!

Amazing All-American breakfast food. Large portions, very affordable. Cute, unique WWII theme. Genuinely friendly service. The Captain-Crunch french toast and hash-browns are delicious, but whatever you order, I am confident it will satisfy your taste-buds! Ypsilanti is my hometown and if a friend ever joins me for a visit, you can bet I will take them here!

The Bomber is a great greasy spoon -- and that's exactly what you're going to get when it comes to the food...greasy (but in that "oh so good" way!) If you go for breakfast/brunch on a Saturday or Sunday, expect to wait a little bit for a table. There always seems to be a line on the weekends. The menu is full of regular breakfast staples, and the portions don't leave you going hungry. I've tried several things at The Bomber, and I don't think I've ever been able to clean my plate. The Sunrise biscuit is like an eggs Benedict -- with a delicious twist. Instead of English muffins, you have scratch-made biscuits. In place of the Canadian bacon are sausage patties. Hollandaise is replaced with gravy and cheese. And the sunny-side up eggs are replaced with eggs any way you want them. You can ask for the breakfast potatoes to be well done, and you can add cheese, green peppers or onion (or all three). The Sunrise Skillet doesn't disappoint, and the half portion is just enough. The bowl is lined with scrambled eggs, and then filled with sausage, hash browns and topped with gravy and cheese. They make their pancakes with 7-Up, so they're light, airy and crispy. The last few times I've gone, there's been a table-topper mentioning their Cap'n Crunch French Toast. I guess I'll have to try that next time...

Yet another case of "I was really wrong about this place......" I've passed The Bomber a million times, and was never compelled to stop in until the CMYE today. I had read reviews about it being great for hangovers, etc. Frankly, I'm too old to sit in a greasy spoon diner with a bunch of hungover EMU kids. This was my (erroneous) idea of what The Bomber was. In actuality, it's a quaint diner with pretty awesome breakfast. I loved the selection. There really is something for everyone. It was clean, the waitstaff were hoppin' and everything was really tasty. The clientele was varied and I didn't feel out of place at all. We'll be back!

One of my all time favorite places. I get there for coffee before the breakfast is even close to being ready to serve! I will just make some quick comments. Pancakes the size of hubcaps. French toast to die for. Anything with the word Bomber in front of it beware to take food home for the next two meals. Bomber Breakfast and Bomber Corned Beef Hash and Eggs are so big you will curse yourself for ordering it. Skillet breakfasts are a big favorite. If John is cooking, the hash browns will have equal amounts of butter to them, so people with heart problems be warned. Joann on the other hand cooks with a less heavy hand with the butter. The wait staff are some of the best. If you sit at the counter be prepared to be part of the conversation and know your coffee drinking limits cause they keep pouring until you say uncle.

My husband and I visited this diner on a Sunday afternoon after traveling from Toledo, Ohio to visit his brother-in-law, who swears by this place. Thankfully, we came with an appetite! All of us decided on breakfast, since that is what they are known for. My husband and I shared the full order of french toast and an omelette with sausage, spinach, onions and green peppers and home fries. At first we thought it might be too much food, but we were hungry and the food was delish! The french toast was seriously huge and looked like bear claws. The omelette was very fresh and not at all watery. I wish it had been a bit bigger though. The home fries were standard fare, but good nonetheless. We were really proud when we finished and had clean plates! We will definitely come back to this diner the next time we are in Ypsilanti!

I, like Wally, should be ashamed for living here this long and never going to this spot. Very cool history and decor here as well. My eyes were glued to every dish that was brought out to other tables. The BOMBER breakfast special is like 6 eggs, 7 or 8 pieces of sausage or bacon and like a pound and a half of half browns. It is gigantic. I ordered the Cowboy skillet with the homemade gravy and it was fantastic. The eggs were cooked (or not cooked ahha) a perfect over easy and the whole dish was just great. The coffee was good and the service as well. This place I can see why it is a Ypsilanti Staple.

My family has gone here several times on Sunday to get a late breakfast. It reminds me a lot of the small family restaurants/diners we use to eat in when I was a kid. The waitstaff is pretty good. If it is late in the shift they can start to slack a bit. We pretty much always get breakfast food and we are always happy. I usually get the Bomber Breakfast which is quite large. I believe it is 6 eggs, about a pound of breakfast meat, your choice, about 2 pounds of potatoes and two pieces of toast. It is a huge amount of food but also quite tasty. I think the most expensive thing on the menu is the Bomber Breakfast and that is about $9.50. Inexpensive food and you never leave hungry or dissatisfied. By the way, there is a small parking lot behind the restaurant if you don't want to park on the street.

First review! Yay! Very decent prices. $5-$6. French toast was good, not sure why one slice had lots of cinnamon on it and the other didn't... sausage patties kinda dry, hash browns a bit soggy, one bacon burnt, one bacon a little fatty, service okay... They do have a "bomber" breakfast for $9 that looks like a bomb of cholesterol, but hey, whatever floats your boat... For my money, though, I'd rather go to Luca's across the street.

The Bomber is one of the best breakfasts in SE Michigan. If you're looking for cranberry-walnut crepes and little deviled egg bits kissed with hollandaise, stay away from here. You'll know what kind of place this is as soon as you walk in. Ambience is, well, don't have any expectations. There are dozens of model airplanes hanging from the ceiling, and WWII memorabilia tacked to the walls. There's a long L-shaped counter where you can expect to see grizzly old grandpa veterans having a coffee and a smoke, reading the paper. There's a distinct haze of cigarette smoke in the air, although Bomber just went smoke-free this month, I believe. Get past all that, because the action's on the menu. This place is grease, butter, eggs, potatoes, gravy, bacon, pancakes, and sausage. In large quantities. And without apologies. Again, if this is what you want, there is no place better! I always get the Cowboy Skillet, a bowl full of sliced potatoes topped with bits of bacon, onion, cheese, egg, and gravy. It's probably about 9,000 calories. Other great items are the French Slam (huge, thick slices fried on the griddle and topped with powdered sugar), Breakfast Burrito (tortilla filled with egg, chorizo, etc. and spicy kick), and Nature Lover's Pancakes (enormous stack). Oh, a twist on the Cowboy Skillet is the Country Skillet, same except the potatoes are hash browns. If you want to punish your arteries, try the signature Bomber: something like six eggs, eight slices of bacon, etc etc etc etc. Make sure your will and estate is in order before trying this. To repeat, I think this is the heartiest, most honest breakfast in Washtenaw County and a fantastic value. It's one of Ypsilanti's brightest gems.

I almost want to give the Bomber 5 stars to balance out the poor reviews it's gotten before mine, but the service just wasn't 5-star, so I'm giving it a 4. It's true that the decor is kitschy, but I like that in a diner. It's what a diner should be-schmaltzy decor, American comfort food with cheap deals on breakfast, with a few signature dishes to make it stand out from other local diners. I also am a local history nerd, so I like the Bomber theme. It's so named and themed because Ypsilanti was the home of a B-24 bomber plant during World War II. They must have good ventilation there, because it's a rather open restaurant, and yet I couldn't smell any smoke from the few customers who were over on the smoking side of the restaurant. That's always a plus in a place that hasn't gone smoke-free. I had a delicious and enormous omelet breakfast here recently. The Greek omelet was full of fresh tomato chunks, large ribbons of spinach, many black olive slices and generous amounts of feta cheese. The pile of American fries I got with it was about two potatoes worth, and I was barely able to put a dent in it. Apparently, a previous reviewer doesn't understand that American fries are a specific way to make potatoes that is distinctly different than French fries. American fries are either cubes or thick slices of potatoes, pan-fried, instead of being deep-fried potato sticks. I like mine a little browner than the way these were delivered, but they were fine. I also prefer under-salted to over-salted; you can always add salt from the shaker, but if they're over-salted, there's nothing you can do about it except send it back to the kitchen. Two negatives: the coffee isn't really worth ordering. I have lower standards for diner coffee as opposed to coffee shop coffee, but this was still disappointing and weak. Also, the service was friendly but a little on the slow side. It may have been because they were preparing for two large groups to come in and take over several rows of tables all pushed together. I heard one waitress say they were expecting 25 out-of-town bikers at 10 a.m. and that they were such regulars that she knew about half their orders. That says something about the loyalty that some folks feel toward The Bomber.

They have the BEST breakfast in town! You get a ton of food for the price and the service is always great. I took my dad when he came to visit and he loved it with all the military decorations (he was in Vietnam). He was telling me all about each of the planes hanging from the ceiling. The Bomber is just overall a great place!

The Bomber is definitely the place to go for a good home cooked breakfast. The service is good and the prices are reasonable. Great diner food and an unbeatable atmosphere. Definitely a place to go and hang out too! I've only eaten lunch here once, and it was admittedly very disappointing. However, for breakfast - the best in town! I love the Bomber.

Lots of love for the Bomber. My mom has waited tables at diners my whole life so I have a special place in my heart for them. The Bomber is a quintessential diner. Nothing fancy. I think what some of the reviewers here fail to understand is that a diner experience is different than say a Bennigan's experience. The wait staff is small but you'll see the same faces every time you go in. The food is based on what the locals like, not what is currently in fashion. There isn't a hostess, you find your own seat and wait your turn if there isn't one and you might have to wait a minute for someone to ring you up. But the allure is that it is an actual family restaurant. The wait staff and kitchen staff don't change every couple of months and the regulars come in and the waitress brings their usual drink before they even have to ask. That's the difference. It is personal. And with all things that are personal, it doesn't always go off without a hitch. If you want a streamlined, robotic dining experience, go to a chain restaurant. My favorite is the Back to Nature Pancakes. Actually any of the pancakes are my favorite, they are the best in the area. So nice and fluffy. I also enjoy the breakfast burrito and its big enough for about three meals.

Splurge for the bomber breakfast. Take home for the rest of the week. Seriously. Great food. Superb service. The staff has been there for years. Says something about the Bomber. Can't go wrong this place is the best. Love the no smoking. Now I can go there always. Hint. When asked for potatoes. Always ask for American fries. Wow wow. Wow

For awhile I ate at the Bomber so often that when I walked in they just put the cup of coffee and glass of water in front of me without asking. I got into a bit of a rut almost always eating the same dish and finally the greasiness of the hash browns got so bad that I could not eat there for awhile. I just ate at The Bomber yesterday for the first time in quite awhile and the food was fabulous. The hash browns were not the greasy mess that they had become in the past. The owner was in the back cooking, and there were also 2 men cooking as well. The guys are new and whomever cooked my hash browns managed to make them crispy without making them greasy gut bombs. The ultimate omelet is a must as you can pick 4 items from a lengthy list to add to your omelet. Take a friend and split a Nature Lover's pancake with pecans (not sunflower seeds..yuk!) as they are wonderfully tasty with fresh fruit included.

I really like the Bomber. The place is decorated with military history paraphernalia, very cool. The prices are decent, the food's pretty darn good, and the waitress called me 'hon.' I dig that. It's definitely a diner, with all the deep-frying and bacon that comes with that, but I prefer it to some run-of-the-mill coney island. Definitely way better than the Double Eagle, and I'm sure the health department would agree with me on that one. I didn't have any problems with it being too smoky.

The Bomber isn't one of those chic restaurants that has rally expensive food, they are a straightforward simple place with good food. As you enter the restaurant you see lots of families and students, many of who are wearing Michigan swag. Our waitress was great, she took our order, answered our questions, and even gave me a free sample of the Country gravy. I ordered the Cowboy Skillet which is layered American fries with onions, bacon pieces, 2 eggs, cheddar cheese. This dish is available in half and full size orders. If you look at my pic, i ordered the half, and looks are deceiving, because that bowl seemed endless. This was unlike anything i have ever ordered. The saltiness of the bacon pairs great with the potatoes, and they serve an egg on top, and it just drips and surrounds all of the food underneath. Also they have one of those old milk dispensers which tops your glass with a nice frothy layer which you just cant get at most places. Overall The Bomber is a great place to come to for a casual meal, and fancy decor cannot create the neighbourly ambiance that this place has.

So, come here if you're starving and have only $10. $6 if you don't need a drink. The portion sizes are HUGE!!! We came out for another wonderful Yelp brunch for some good company and tasty food. Andrew wanted pancakes, asked for the full order, was talked in to the half order, and boy was he glad. The 1/2 order was two ginormous pancakes, each about a foot in diameter. I can see why this is a good "I'm hungover, let's eat" kind of place. Pretty much your standard diner fare with the colorful local crowd, large portions, good prices, and a funny waitress to brighten your day.

Seriously? I haven't reviewed Bomber yet? Glad I thought to before I leave town. Bomber, you are a shining star that I will miss dearly. I don't care that your coffee is mediocre, I don't let the fact that oftentimes when I leave I smell like I had a long night at the bar keep me away, I don't care that there's probably lots of meaty/non-meaty intermingling on the griddle... I'll avert my eyes. All for your wonderful nature lovers pancakes, with pecans please. Saturday morning, I noticed that they've introduced new pancake options, including caramel apple among others. I couldn't bring myself to try them. Nature lovers pancakes are that good. I'd venture the title of best ever. In scanning the reviews, I sensed some hostility towards Bomber waitresses... I can assure you, that if you make nice, they're super friendly. Show your face a few times and you'll definitely get some smiles. That said, I'm not here for the conversation or nice waitresses, I just want pancakes. Sorry to say, this place can get very smokey, and if you're not into that, it can still leave you rather stinky. The space is small, and there's no divide between smoking and non-smoking sections. One star deducted because sometimes I just don't feel like smelling like an ashtray. Oh, and get here before 3pm. It's strictly a breakfast/lunch spot. Bomber, I crown thee my favorite spot for an Ypsi breakfast.

I wanted to like The Bomber. I did. Their decor is pretty awesome/unique, and I was really hoping for a good breakfast spot in Ypsi. Sadly, The Bomber did not deliver. The first time I went it was ok--biscuits and gravy, nothing special but it was ok. The second time is why I won't be back. Firstly, the waitress totally forgot about taking our order and was on the other side of the restaurant chatting and sipping her beverage while we were waiting hungrily. Several minutes of glaring at her got her to realize she forgot about us. It wasn't that busy either, she was just hanging out visiting with friends. And drinking out of an open container behind the counter and not washing her hands--health code violation(s). When we ordered, I boldly got the eggs benedict---she asked how I wanted my eggs. Now, have you ever had eggs benedict with scrambled eggs? No, because they're supposed to be poached! That's what eggs benedict is. I'm not trying to be pretentious here, but for goodness sake if you don't know what it is don't serve it on your specials board. Or at all. So we ordered and I get my food and my eggs are half raw half overcooked and all watery. I don't even know how someone screws up an egg. Evidently not only do they not know what poached eggs are, they don't know how to cook them. When I go to a place like The Bomber, I expect greasy food, but my hash browns were literally dripping grease...I lifted them off the plate and a pool of grease remained. Basically they tasted like starchy, slightly burned, day-old grease. I didn't eat them. My companion's skillet was ok but his hashbrowns were burned. I heard someone else send back their burnt potatoes as well. I also heard a waitress (loudly) tell her co-workers about some underwear she had purchased the day before...I'm sure half the restaurant heard too. Keep it classy, Ypsilanti.

Excellent service, food turn around time is FAST and the portion sizes are huge (you can easily share).

I have driven by this place countless times on the way to Beezys. I was not in the mood to wait on line there or go to A2. Food was horrible and I feel like I needed a shower when I left.

No AmEx.

Parking being the only issue- this little hidden gem has great comfort-food! Even ordering the half size breakfast was too much food for me to eat in one sitting! The sausage gravy is a MUST for anything breakfast-like with eggs or potatoes. Simply delicious and great staff!

I love getting "blown up" at The Bomber. Nothing like a Skillet, side bacon, and a nice V8 to recover from a long night of "studying"

This is the hidden gem of breakfast places around Ann Arbor! I almost don't want to tell anyone, because God forbid it becomes one of those breakfast spots around here with an hour long wait but their food is AWESOME! Huge portions and cheap prices as well. Such a divey and delicious spot!

I ordered the crab omelet and it was yummy. This place has decor and memorabilia from WWII which was very cool and the wait staff was super nice and attentive, despite being very busy. I think I found a new fav breakfast spot.

This is THE classic Ypsi breakfast place. You have got to try the Captain Crunch french toast, which is excellent. Friendly people, cool atmosphere. You haven't been to Ypsilanti unless you've checked out the Bomber. Very cool historical photographs on all the walls.

Will definitely go back
(5)Caro V.

(4)Jenna S.
(4)Belinda N.
Excellent service, food turn around time is FAST and the portion sizes are huge (you can easily share).
(4)Jessica B.
(4)Riki L.
(4)Kenneth C.
Great, home-y diner with an Air Force and EMU bent. Breakfast is king here. The Cap'n Crunch French toast is a unique and tasty plate, though the half order is plenty. Weekends also bring specials such as a decent eggs Benedict.
(4)Brandon B.
(4)Steph W.
(3)Heather B.
Amazing breakfast. I had the country skillet , husband had the bomber omelette, one son had the home made hash and the other had a burrito. Everything was cooked to perfection. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. Would definitely come back!
(5)Rachel H.
(4)Mevei I.

(5)Andrea Y.
(4)Tony L.
(4)Scott H.
(4)Ann Arbor R.
Southern breakfast is out of this world! The wait staff is always pleasant and overall a very cool place with great foid.
(5)James K.
Homemade Bomberized hash and eggs is #1!!! Service is fast and staff extra friendly! Portions are huge too!!! Parking can be a pain.
(5)MItch R.
(5)Jason C.
(4)Tiffany B.
(5)Jenny K.
(4)Fi G.
(4)Matt W.
This is the place every other hometown restaurant strives to be. They have nailed down the most important thing - consistency! I have never gotten a single item that wasnt 100% perfect. And everything is always amazingly tasty. I love you bomber, never change!
(5)Shannon S.
Parking being the only issue- this little hidden gem has great comfort-food! Even ordering the half size breakfast was too much food for me to eat in one sitting! The sausage gravy is a MUST for anything breakfast-like with eggs or potatoes. Simply delicious and great staff!
(5)W. John R.
(4)Kait G.
(3)Jesse S.
(5)Mandi C.
I have moved away and so miss the Bomber! There is no other place like it! Delicious food great price the mine make corned beef hash is the best I've ever had!
(5)Nichole V.
We have not tried to lunch or dinner there so I cannot give my opinion on that
(4)Khanh C.
Best hole-in-the-wall breakfast joint in Ypsi. The captain crunch toast is a must with any meal. Be ready for huge servings and your gonna need nap after breakfast!
(5)Jacqueline D.
(4)Scott M.
I love getting "blown up" at The Bomber. Nothing like a Skillet, side bacon, and a nice V8 to recover from a long night of "studying"
(4)Dave S.
Bomber breakfast or captain crunch French toast. But there is no way you can eat both.
(5)Jennifer S.
(1)Shirley H.
(4)Peggy F.
(5)Althea L.
Great food and great service!!! Will definitely come back...like I do every year when I visit MI :) :) :)
(4)Laura H.
(5)Sylvonna R.
(5)Zack W.
(4)Emily W.
Full on diner glory.
(5)Vickie R.
(5)Tiffani J.
(3)Stephen P.
(4)Kip W.
I have been in the area for over 10 years and I've never heard of this place. How is that possible? I actually was watching some show on the Food Network or some similar station that mentioned this place. It is a greasy spoon, a pretty darn good greasy spoon! This place is perfect for morning after getting bombed! I ordered the "The Bomber" omelet, which was pretty tasty. This came with a pretty large portion of hash browns. While I wasn't bombed the night before, I will be heading here the next time I am. This is not the place to go if: you want to get seated immediately, want some peace and quiet, want to wear your Sunday finest or if you are offended by some "interesting" patrons. However, if you want: a substantial breakfast, a tasty breakfast, for a cheap price, especially since I was at Zola Café the day before, then this is a great place.
(4)Steffyn R.
This has long been my place for breakfasts as I would be getting out of work at around the time they would open. And I do admit that I love a good greasy spoon diner far too much.
(5)Kristen C.

Finally made it. The trip was worth it for the atmosphere alone. Food was great. We will be back.

Greasy spoon. Check. So so coffee. Check. Filled with locals. Check. Needs to be cleaned. Check. Nice staff. Check. Enormous servings. Check. Going back? Nope.

(4)Wayne S.
Some of hte lowest quality food in the area but DAMN does it taste good! This is my junk food go-to! WILL give you a stomach ache if you arent used to low quality ingredients & high gluten flour etc.

Bombers a great diner. Homemade hash and captain crunch French toast were awesome. Service friendly and fast. Definitely would return

(5)Peter N.
(4)Jen F.

(4)Amanda S.
(4)Wally S.
The bomber continues to be a great place for breakfast. The quality is consistent. The coffee cup is always full. This time I tried one of their skillets. Wow.. eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, sausage gravy. This is a heart attack waiting to happen, but it's oh so good.
(4)Ryan B.
(5)Lily K.
This is the hidden gem of breakfast places around Ann Arbor! I almost don't want to tell anyone, because God forbid it becomes one of those breakfast spots around here with an hour long wait but their food is AWESOME! Huge portions and cheap prices as well. Such a divey and delicious spot!
(5)Kellie W.

(3)Steve K.
(4)Allen L.
(4)Liz W.
(4)Jim D.
(4)Gretchen G.
Best breakfast in all of Ypsilanti, and probably Ann Arbor as well. Staff is wonderful and the cooks are awesome. The place is very clean and kept up. I have not one single complaint. Keep it up Bomber!
(5)Krista M.

(5)Mike R.
If you want to eat then come to the Bomber
(5)Kevin K.
(4)Akilah W.
I ordered the crab omelet and it was yummy. This place has decor and memorabilia from WWII which was very cool and the wait staff was super nice and attentive, despite being very busy. I think I found a new fav breakfast spot.
(4)R S.
(2)Rochelle P.
(5)Tony D.
(4)Scott C.
(5)Erin H.
(3)Chelsea G.
(5)Jacquie T.
(4)Jonathan M.
Had the bomber breakfast and it was worth it. There was enough food for 2. My buddy had the sunrise and loved it, and he is one of those people who hates eating out and always finds something wrong.
(5)Brenda M.
(4)Ed M.
(5)Amanda C.
(5)Eric G.
(4)Erik H.
(4)Tiffany S.
(2)Andi S.
(5)Christopher N.
Excellent service! Waitress was very accommodating and helpful. Great food!
(4)Frank H.
My first time here. Great little greasy spoon with MASSIVE portions. I will be back!
(4)Sarah R.
(4)Natalie J.
They have the BEST breakfast in town! You get a ton of food for the price and the service is always great. I took my dad when he came to visit and he loved it with all the military decorations (he was in Vietnam). He was telling me all about each of the planes hanging from the ceiling. The Bomber is just overall a great place!
(5)April J.

This place is awesome...a classic greasy spoon but def somewhere to take your out of town friends. Huge portions for cheap...it's been featured on the Food Network!
(4)Kate S.

(3)Mei O.

(4)Erin G.
(1)J K.
Food is always plentiful and excellent, friendly community atmosphere, a classic diner!!
(5)Rachel H.
(4)Pete P.
(4)Jenna S.
(4)Steph W.
(3)Heather B.
Amazing breakfast. I had the country skillet , husband had the bomber omelette, one son had the home made hash and the other had a burrito. Everything was cooked to perfection. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. Would definitely come back!
(5)Belinda N.
Excellent service, food turn around time is FAST and the portion sizes are huge (you can easily share).
(4)Tony L.
(4)Marie M.
I have driven by this place countless times on the way to Beezys. I was not in the mood to wait on line there or go to A2. Food was horrible and I feel like I needed a shower when I left.
(1)Caro V.
No AmEx.
(4)Scott H.
(5)MItch R.
(5)Jason C.
(4)Jenny K.
(4)Fi G.
(4)Matt W.
This is the place every other hometown restaurant strives to be. They have nailed down the most important thing - consistency! I have never gotten a single item that wasnt 100% perfect. And everything is always amazingly tasty. I love you bomber, never change!
(5)Kait G.
(3)W. John R.
(4)Jesse S.
(5)Mandi C.
I have moved away and so miss the Bomber! There is no other place like it! Delicious food great price the mine make corned beef hash is the best I've ever had!
(5)Nichole V.
We have not tried to lunch or dinner there so I cannot give my opinion on that
(4)Khanh C.
Best hole-in-the-wall breakfast joint in Ypsi. The captain crunch toast is a must with any meal. Be ready for huge servings and your gonna need nap after breakfast!
(5)Jacqueline D.
(4)Scott M.
I love getting "blown up" at The Bomber. Nothing like a Skillet, side bacon, and a nice V8 to recover from a long night of "studying"
(4)Dave S.
Bomber breakfast or captain crunch French toast. But there is no way you can eat both.
(5)Tiffany B.
(5)Jennifer S.
(1)Shirley H.
(4)Sylvonna R.
(5)Peggy F.
(5)Zack W.
(4)Emily W.
Full on diner glory.
(5)Vickie R.
(5)Tiffani J.
(3)Stephen P.
(4)Kris A.
(1)Sam G.
(4)Jakub B.

Greasy spoon. Check. So so coffee. Check. Filled with locals. Check. Needs to be cleaned. Check. Nice staff. Check. Enormous servings. Check. Going back? Nope.

(4)Jen F.

(4)Wally S.
The bomber continues to be a great place for breakfast. The quality is consistent. The coffee cup is always full. This time I tried one of their skillets. Wow.. eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, sausage gravy. This is a heart attack waiting to happen, but it's oh so good.
(4)Ryan B.
(5)Amanda S.
(4)Lily K.
This is the hidden gem of breakfast places around Ann Arbor! I almost don't want to tell anyone, because God forbid it becomes one of those breakfast spots around here with an hour long wait but their food is AWESOME! Huge portions and cheap prices as well. Such a divey and delicious spot!
(5)Michele B.
This place is a gem. We eat here every other weekend. The portions are huge and everything is delicious. The staff is super friendly and I've never had an order screwed up. I recommend the bomber to everyone that comes to the area.
(5)Amy D.
So good! Food was AMAZING staff was friendly and efficient. Prices are fair for the amount of food you get. Caption crunch French toast is wonderful! Will definitely go back
(5)Mevei I.

(5)Andrea Y.
(4)Kellie W.

(3)Steve K.
(4)Allen L.
(4)Althea L.
Great food and great service!!! Will definitely come back...like I do every year when I visit MI :) :) :)
(4)Laura H.
(5)Akilah W.
I ordered the crab omelet and it was yummy. This place has decor and memorabilia from WWII which was very cool and the wait staff was super nice and attentive, despite being very busy. I think I found a new fav breakfast spot.
(4)Tony D.
(4)Jim D.
(4)Brenda M.
(4)Peter V.
This is THE classic Ypsi breakfast place. You have got to try the Captain Crunch french toast, which is excellent. Friendly people, cool atmosphere. You haven't been to Ypsilanti unless you've checked out the Bomber. Very cool historical photographs on all the walls.
(5)Liz W.
(4)Gretchen G.
Best breakfast in all of Ypsilanti, and probably Ann Arbor as well. Staff is wonderful and the cooks are awesome. The place is very clean and kept up. I have not one single complaint. Keep it up Bomber!
(5)Krista M.
(3)Lawson E.

(5)Mike R.
If you want to eat then come to the Bomber
(5)Kevin K.
(4)Rochelle P.
(5)Scott C.
(5)Erin H.
(3)Jacquie T.
(4)Chelsea G.
(5)Jonathan M.
Had the bomber breakfast and it was worth it. There was enough food for 2. My buddy had the sunrise and loved it, and he is one of those people who hates eating out and always finds something wrong.
(5)Ed M.
(5)Amanda C.
(5)Eric G.
(4)Erik H.
(4)Andi S.
(5)Christopher N.
Excellent service! Waitress was very accommodating and helpful. Great food!
(4)Frank H.
My first time here. Great little greasy spoon with MASSIVE portions. I will be back!
(4)Tiffany S.
(2)Sarah R.
(5)April J.

Finally made it. The trip was worth it for the atmosphere alone. Food was great. We will be back.

This place is awesome...a classic greasy spoon but def somewhere to take your out of town friends. Huge portions for cheap...it's been featured on the Food Network!
