I never understood the donut fascination....until now. Dom has showed me the light. I haven't had a great donut in years. I remember a friend off-handedly talking about an awesome unassuming bakery in Ypsilanti that I should check out and I am forever grateful I did as she said. Had the greatest donuts here! ...well, here and some donut shop in Boston to be fair, but still! I was floored. Run by a nice Asian family. I try to come in during the afternoon/evening, which is when my friend tells me their fresh batches come out. The donuts that have really stood out to me are the original glazed, blueberry, and apple. Buy a couple and just warm them up through the week as you eat them! A good start to the day guaranteed.

Dom's are the best donuts. They understand both the theory and execution of donuts at Dom's, which not all donut shops do. The cream and custard-filled donuts are perfectly airy dough, with a surprising light AND rich cream - or a creamy custard - that complements, and completes the donut. The apple fritters are some of the best I've had anywhere, with the perfect balance of fruit, dough, and glaze. The glazed donuts rival Krispy Kreme in their lightness and delicious glaze. Dom's makes real, fresh donuts, and so the fresher they are, the better they taste. We stop here on all special occasions, but truthfully, every stop here makes it a special occasion. Stop by early - bring cash or your ATM card - and get the best donuts you've had in a long, long while!

I have been coming to this place for years. I remember going through their drive-thru with my dad when I was kid. If you live in the Ypsi area and haven't been to Dom's it's usually a total shock. They do the classics VERY well. I have only ever been disappointed by their cookies, but honestly if you go for their cookies you need to get your priorities in order. Their cakes are amazing (and for any occasion according to the sign), the coffee is always hot and never sludgy, and their service is very prompt. I always get a variety of things when I go, and usually some 'day olds'. They also have a section were you can get bottled drinks and they have picnic tables outside if you choose to do that. When you go inside you get the feeling that this bakery churns out a lot of product, but the quality is never lacking. I would like them to have more "fun" flavors, but they do what they do well. So I can't fault them for that.

Classic Chinese-Cambodian family-run donut shop with coffee, cookies, cakes, and karma. Cash only. This may be the only drive-through donut shop in the area, but do stop in and sit a while. Nothing better on a cold winter day than fresh donuts and coffee with the warm western sun pouring through glass walls. A favorite of the Washtenaw County sheriff (drive-through, though). What's here: lots of seating (indoors and out!), a perpetually empty counter, signs that haven't changed in 20 years, stacks of cake boxes, and pallets of bottled water and soft drinks. Form follows function. An honest environment.

If you ever find yourself in Ypsilanti and looking for a place to sit down and eat pastries while drinking coffee, this is the spot. Open 24/7, this bakery has an amazing selection of freshly baked pastries and donuts. The donuts are not overwhelming sweet and the price is definitely reasonable. Definitely try the apple fritter - even if you have never eaten an apple donut before. Or stick with the classic custard filled. The place only accepts cash but there is an ATM available. Very friendly staff and definitely contributed to my freshman 15 while at U of M.

Goddamn look at those donuts! If Jesus could touch donuts they'd turn into these custard filled long johns...

Been buying donuts here for...25 years I guess? Wonderful old-school donut shop without any silly "bacon-salted-caramel-fudgemallow-stout" nonsense. The regular cake donuts are standard issue, but the cinnamon-sugar or apple fritters are great. They MUST be fresh, preferably an hour or two old. These make my eyes roll back in sugar-carbtastic ecstasy. Custard long johns are also delish...some swooning involved but no eyes rolled heavenwards.

I'm not into sugary foods very much, but I love the cute sugar cookies from Dom Bakeries. They are soft (not crisp) and beautifully decorated.

Apple fritters, apple fritters, apple fritters. I've tried many of the donuts here-- all delicious-- but there's nothing that quite beats this chewy, fruity confection. All the prices are reasonable, but I think they do have some sort of cash policy so make sure you have a couple bills on you just in case. Since this place is open 24/7, I find myself coming here late at night when not many other places are open. There's plenty of room for large groups, making Dom's a convenient, fun late-night hangout spot!

great donuts...bring cash...or you will be going inside to the atm. The staff is nice and the donuts are the best. great prices also.

This place seems to be a neighborhood favorite among both students and local residents, and justifiably so. I could tell through the conversations at the counter that Dom's has many loyal regulars. Especially at the drive-thru it became apparent that many people come by quite regularly, since drivers requested many types of donuts off the top of their head and the girl selling the donuts had to tell them they were out of certain types. I got my favorite glazed yeast raised donut, no complaints about it. I like that you can see behind the scenes into the kitchen area--two males in the back were busy rolling out a massive quantity of dough! Wow donut factory. They also make spectacular customized cookies. And another bonus point for being a cute family-run business! While my friends and I chatted at a table for multiple hours, I saw many groups of undergraduates come in and out for their donut fix. Two girls who sat down nearby to munch on multiple donuts each which made me think Dom's would be the perfect hangout spot to gossip and just relax with friends surrounded by tasty snacks. I saw a police pulling into the drive-thru as we walked out into the parking lot har har.

If you in any way appreciate the majesty of donuts, then stop hesitating (after all, this place never closes. It's 24 hours andddd has a drive-thru. no excuses). 7 donuts = $6.75 I got a red velvet cake donut, sour cream old fashioned donut and an apple fritter. The red velvet cake donut with icing was standard fare. It was pretty fresh, but not super fresh. I'm still more impressed with Washtenaw Dairy cake donuts. The sour cream old fashioned donut elicited from me multiple moans, curse words, and marriage proposals. SO SO SO GOOD! I had forgotten that donuts could be that good. The icing, the cake consistency, and the sour cream donut taste was love at first bite. But then I ate the apple fritter. Though I would love to spend the rest of my life with the sour cream old fashioned, there's something about that apple fritter that needs some attention. Hell with monogamy, you love what you love, and I'm in love with both these donuts. It was slighty crunchy sweet with the icing, apples were sweet and cinnamony, and the dough texture was perfect. PERFECT. My boyfriend got 2 filled chocolate donuts, one white icing and one custard. He enjoyed the custard one more, as the icing one basically tasted like vanilla frosting overload. He also got a cake donut, which he believed on par with Washtenaw Dairy. There's plenty of parking. Be warned. The cases don't have signs. Just make a guess or ask someone. so come on over and find your donut soulmate.

Superb donuts/doughnuts. No frills; just delicious and excellent quality. Their pastries are always fresh. My favorite: the apple fritter. Perfect balanced sweetness, Apple taste, and spice. It has a wonderful texture, and the glaze is thick and its consistency perfect, as it doesn't flake off. 5 stars. They have my heart.

First of all, Doms has the best donuts on the face of the earth- especially the glazed with chocolate. This review is about two cakes we ordered for a party. The promised time was 6:30am, but they were not ready on time. When we called to verify they were ready before driving back out there, the woman on the phone argued with us, claiming the cakes were ready at 6:30. Obviously they weren't because we were there at 6:30. The whole thing was a huge pain and really unprofessional.

The red velvet donuts are to die for!! Go around 7:30/8pm to get warm fresh donuts with a crunch on the outside!

  • Rieale L.

Order an extra large coffee with cream and sugar, and enjoy the taste of unbridled ecstasy. Who knew true happiness could be achieved with $2 and a short drive. Pair it with a blueberry glazed donut or sour cream donut and a bucket list could be complete.

Dude....just go here. It's open 24/7 and you need cash. Stop what you're doing and go now.

Dom's Bakery is a kickass donut shop. They're priced about the same as Dunkin Donuts or Timmy Ho's, but their donuts actually taste good. Really good, in fact. They've got a lot of baked goods, but I've only tried the donuts though I've been there a number of times. You can bet I'll be back to try more of their other goodies. Also, I'd like to echo what a previous reviewer, David L, said - it's not an artisinal bakery or anything, so if that's what you want, don't go to Dom's. That's like going to City PIzza and complaining that their pizza isn't true to authentic Italian pizza.

We love this place!!! Fresh donuts 24 hours a day with a massive selection and GREAT pricing! Small mom and pop place that you will love! Quality of products is fantastic! Make sure to bring cash bc they don't take credit. A must if you are in Ypsi!!

I don't think I can give it 5 stars - I'm a huge fan of Dutch Girl in Detroit - but Dom comes in a very close second. Whatever kind of donut floats your boat, you'll find it here, happily awaiting you with a cup of delicious coffee. This is the kind of place that makes you want to abandon your New Year's resolution, and give in to gluttony. In a good way!

Despite being known as the queen of sweets among my family and friends, I actually don't eat a ton of donuts, especially compared to the volume of other sweets I ingest, such as baked goods, candies, and chocolates. However, once I tried some of Dom's donuts, it immediately became clear that the reason for me not eating more donuts is because I've never had really good ones! The one exception I can think of would be the sugar glazed ones from the Krispy Kreme on Ponce in Atlanta, but that only applies if you magically timed it just right to show up within an hour of them being made. With the donuts here at Dom's, I just got some that looked like they've been sitting in the case for who-knows-how-long and they were delicious. Even 2 days later (because, of course, I had to buy a full dozen at a time and couldn't eat it all in one sitting), after nuking one in the microwave for 15 seconds, I was pleasantly surprised at how good it still tasted. Given how good their yeast donuts were in various forms, I feel like I may even try some of their cake donuts (which I normally avoid like the plague) or non-donut items. See you soon, Dom! I'm glad I didn't discover you until living in A2 for almost 2 years for I would certainly be alot jigglier than I am now if I did.

Great little donut shop! They take cash only but have an ATM onsite so it's easy enough.

After seeing the reviews, I gave Dom Bakeries a try and was not disappointed, in fact, it exceeded my expectations! I stopped in last night at 8pm and tried a fresh, warm red velvet iced donut. Biting into a warm donut at 8pm was unexpected, and the red velvet fluffiness and gooey icing were delicious. The sour cream glazed is also amazing, just melt-in-your-mouth pastry goodness. I can't believe I have lived in the area for years without trying this place - now I need to go often to make up for lost time! Also - it is unbelievably affordable! My boyfriend and I purchased 4 donuts for $3.60! What a deal!

Yes. Driving home from my mom's house in Dearborn one night I said to myself, "Man. I could go for a donut right now." So I pulled up my Yelp app and did a quick search on donut options between her house and mine in Ann Arbor. Dom Bakeries, while a bit off ride home down 94 for me, seemed like the obvious answer. SO, I zipped off the highway and made my way there. No regrets! The flavors here aren't terribly fancy. There aren't wacky things like bacon or fruit loops, but what they do have is solid. I got a dozen for my fella and I to consume over the next few days and all were winners. The plan glazed melted in my mouth, the chocolate glaze was just the right sweet and the semisweet chocolate topping was outstanding. The eclair was divine. The blueberry? Amazing. My boyfriend snagged that one and as soon as I took a bite I immediately regretted not getting another one for me to enjoy. Next time! Open 24 hours and they have a drive thru if you know what you want. I tend to like to see my options so I went inside. It's packed to the brim with donuts, boxes, trays and such but they do have a few small tables. Other offerings include fritters, cinnamon rolls, etc. Those also looked fab but I suck to donuts this time around. Cash only but they have an ATM inside.

I am 42. I have been going to Dom's since it was originally located in the strip across the street from where it is now, and Dom actually was there...I would guess since I was about 7 or so. Unlike most chain donut shops who get donuts shipped in and simply decorate, Dom's makes it all from scratch on site Been going there for decades and will continue for decades to come.

  • Blane T.

This is my weekly stop after class on Thursdays. Not even $2 for an XL coffee that tastes like nectar of the gods. Also, the sour cream donut might just be the finest baked good in the universe.

  • David L.

Let's discuss Dom Bakeries. What it is: 1) good quality donuts/cookies/cupcakes/more 2) super inexpensive 3) super friendly service 4) open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week 5) somewhat hole-in-the-wall, and that's the way I like it What it is not: It is NOT an artisinal donut shoppe that you buy an artisinal donut for $$$$ then eat and wonder why you just spent so much on a funky little artisinal donut that's not bad but, really, is it better? I'm not naming names. You know who you are. If that's what you want, go somewhere else. 5 stars.

YPSILANTI, MI 4:15 a.m. On an up all night study session for your 8:00 with your roommates, who are doing the same. People are fading in and out of sleep. You can't think straight. It's madness. Dom Bakeries is the cure. Round up the spare change from the house, (No Credit Cards Here) enlist the person who does the least amount of chores to be the wheel-man for this task, and make sure he/she asks for a dozen or more, glazed. In the meantime, brew some coffee......brew it strong and serve it black. The combo of strong coffee mixed with the great taste of these glazed donuts man......oh man, makes me want to call up a study session into order. That good baby!!! I have never tried anything but the glazed, don't need to, it's that damn good, however I think a buddy had some apple fritter thingy and he said it was awesome. Great local flavor for Ypsituckians.

Mmmmm doooughnuts... I can't help but feel like Homer Simpson when I walk into DB. The freshly baked good cover you as you walk in and a glow, with a choir singing in the background fades in, as you look at the donuts. Since my favorite donut, sour cream cake donut, is covered in a sweet and just enough crunch and soft inner dough, puts me in a sugar coma, I tend to only get this as a dessert, as opposed to breakfast. One thing I have noticed about DB's is that even though open 24/7, they don't tend to have the whole variety of donuts throughout the day/night. I was really disappointed the last time I came here and my favorite dessert was no where in sight! Anywho, I have tried their cupcakes and must say how impressed I am! They charge way less for the cupcakes and the quality of it is faaaarrr better than the cupcakes at Cake Nouveau. The cupcakes are so light in texture and not too sweet. The icing can be a little too much, but again I prefer to have a very thin layer of icing on any sort of baked goodies. I also like that they offer cake slices, in case you wanted to eat a whole cake by yourself...although they do make a nice smaller sized cake. P. S. Make sure you bring cash (esp through the drive-thru) with you...but if you don't, they have an ATM inside!

I love Dom's! No Sunday is complete without my sugar rush of creamed and sweetened coffee and those airy glazed yeast donuts. How can they be so bad for your waistline when they taste SO light?! Seriously, that's a real puzzler. The Apple Fritters here are worth starting a new religion for: so magically delicious. They're big and very dense, meaning, densely coated in sugar glaze and with miracle pockets of apple filling. Oh and these fritters are the size of your face. I really do love them. Despite the fact that they have a 24 hour drive thru (yes!), I always like to go inside and see what they have, I'm a visual donut purchaser. They're always stocked with jelly donuts, glazed, chocolate, twists, cheese danishes, cinnamon rolls (oh my god, yes), long johns, and assorted cake donuts (not really my thing, but they've seasonal flavors like pumpkin if you're into it). They're cash only here, so bring your money. Oh, and their coffee is yummy. I think the cream and sugar cancel out the effects of the caffeine, but it's a desert in itself that's a good treat now and then (think Dunkin donuts coffee style with less caffeinated boost).

This bakery has fresh donuts no matter what time you happen to stop in. The staff is friendly & knowledgeable about the products they serve. Behind the counter you can watch the bakers making the dough or icing the cookies. Very fresh baked goods. Open 24 hours & has a drive thru. Cash only. If I'm ever back in this area I would stop by again.

My wife and I ate at Dom's for the first time on 5/3/15. Their glazed donuts were the best I have ever had, the cinnamon donuts, and my wife's filled donut were all great. Their prices are inexpensive (about 6.00 for a half dozen), and they have other options like cinnamon rolls, turnovers, bagels, etc. It is a cash only business, so leave your Visa at home. The are open 24/7 which is great. My only complaint is that their coffee is lousy. Donut places simply have to have great coffee--and they dont. Low quality, flavorless. So five stars for the donuts, but have to knock it down one for the bad coffee.

    (4)
  • Yayun G.

Their donuts are definitely yummy. But it would be great if they can improve the quality of ingredients a bit, especially the oil.

  • Jesse S.

God, I love this place. Used to stop here after working a night shift at work before bed. Last couple of times I've been in town have stopped here after some adult beverages. They have an amazing selection and everything is always fresh; they'll be hustling making baked goods at 10:00pm or 05:00am. Check out the brownies or the cheese/cherry Danish!

    (5)
  • Akie M.

The best, melt in your mouth donuts you could ask for. Always fresh, crisp on the outside, super soft on the inside. The sour cream, buttermilk and apple fritters are my favorite. Plus they're huge and around $1 each. The only downside is cash only.

  • S Y.

Stopped by yesterday and picked up a red velvet donut. This was my first time at Dom Bakeries, but I've always heard positive reviews. It was delicious! The donut was moist and not overly sweet--and there's a lot of variety to choose from to fit your cravings.

My family & I love this place. Best donuts & coffee around for cheap. I will choose Doms over Tim's anyday if I want a donut.

This place is such a find. A 24hr drive through with excellent donuts. After living in Boston where Dunkin Donuts cheap, sugar donuts rule everything, biting into a fresh donut from Dom's was really refreshing. I guess I had forgotten what a good donut tastes like! The service was also very friendly and helpful. Definitely hit this place up anytime you can. I had the Chocolate Eclair and tried the Boston Creme and both were delicious! They only take cash but it's totally worth it. I pass this place everyday on the bus home and I always just drool when I pass it. SO GOOD.

  • Crystal R.

After seeing some very positive reviews from friends on Yelp, I decided to stop here on the way to St. Joe's. I opted to go inside since I wasn't sure what I wanted. They have quite an extensive selection! Two huge display cases filled with options! I ended up getting the highly reccomended apple fritter, a chocolate eclair, and a cherry turnover. All of them were AMAZING and so affordable for being home made! I can't wait to go back again soon!

  • Krystalynn I.

I've been going here since I was a child, its a part of the community and have the best long johns, and croissants I've ever had! If they ever went away I don't know what I'd do...cry.

Overall, I find the variation in bakeries and doughnuts to be pretty small. I guess, I am not what you would could call a doughnut connoisseur. But there are things about modern doughnut shops that annoy the *expletive deleted* out of me. Namely, the inability of modern doughnut shops to stock adequate amounts of, you know, *doughnuts*. I am looking at you Tim Hortons. If you are a doughnut shop, why wouldn't you make sure that you stocked adequate supplies of doughnuts? Dom's is wonderful. No matter when you go, you are greeted with a wide array of fresh, often- still warm doughnuts. It irks me to no end that the odious corporate donut-shills, Tim Hortons, had the audacity to open up shop near Dom's. *another expletive deleted". Just know that when you go to Tim Horton's to get not very fresh pastries, and they are inevitably out of something- you can go to Dom's and get exactly what you need.

  • Nijole T.

Always a fan of 24 hour donut shops, somehow they always turn out to be above average. They had a huge selection and I saw them putting the finishing touches on danishes so that was the first thing I wanted. All different fruits, with and without cream cheese, I got blueberry cream cheese, it was warm and yummy. In all I got a huge box with donuts, cookies, muffins and pastries and paid $9, THAT makes me a very happy camper compaired to the prices in Ann Arbour. Not the best bakery, but good, nothing to complain about, the guys are nice, the food fresh and price is just right!

This place is filled with lots of variety of donuts. Definitely worth a shot. we need to treat ourselves with a donut every once in awhile

  • Amanda S.

I am pretty picky about donuts - especially custard filled ones. In my view, there needs to be a good balance of sweetness and the custard has to be fresh for it to be good. I don't like donuts that taste overly fried either. These are melt-in-your-mouth delicious. This place has the best! Great quality! The first time I came, I got a basic glazed and a chocolate frosted one. They were so good, I could not stop thinking about them. I came back several times and have since tried the paczki, jelly filled and custard filled long john. Come after 8pm for super fresh donuts!

    (5)
  • Sarah K.

Dom's is great! It depends on what you get though their doughnuts are the best and it is cheaper than chain stores. I only wish they would accept credit cards.

    (5)
  • Alice L.

Fresh donuts available just about 24/7. How much better can it get? The icing on the cake is the custard-filled long johns. MmMmMmm!

    (5)
  • Eric S.

These donuts are excellent and affordable. They're sweet but not too sweet. The glazed donuts are great and the custard-filled bars are a pleasant surprise too. I still have a soft spot for sprinkles, so I grab one of those even though I'm not an 8-year old on a sleepover. But here's the inside scoop that I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned: they make them hot and fresh between 6-8pm every day, so if you go then, you can get them still warm and even more delicious than usual. Boom. Oh, and the coffee ain't bad either.

    (5)
  • Sam G.

Oh no. No no no. SIGH. I surrender to these doughnuts completely and utterly. I give up. I'm not really much of a doughnut person but let's just say that since my first taste of Dom's, I've been going back for more daily. I second the rave review for the apple fritters. Holy god. Just the right amount of cinnamon and apples without losing the texture and the ecstasy of the plain doughnut dough they're wrapped in. The plain glazed is a contender for my favorite as well. Just the right amount of buttery, fluffy, and sweet. No weird aftertaste, no resin coating on the inside of your mouth. Just tasty goodness. YOU MUST GET THE PUMPKIN DONUT!!! It's seasonal and it is out of this world. The blueberry donut is also phenomenal (baked at 7pm daily so get 'em in the evening). The chocolate-covered long john is filled with either pure frosting or custard. I would ask before ordering. While my partner is gung-ho about them, it's too much sweet for me. That also goes for the cream cheese doughnut they have. The sour cream doughnut is an interesting little buddy - tastes like something familiar but I can't quite place it. Anyway, it's got a slightly heartier texture and more sweet (a good compromise between the mellower-sweet and the hyper-sweet options). Only mild complaint? Sometimes some of the doughnuts can get a little oily where the first quarter inch of dough is soaked through. Maybe the oil isn't heated enough before they go in? But this is a rare folly in an otherwise amazing output. The price is right and they make their glaze out of pure heroine, I swear. Only difference is that the next doughnut is just as good as the first.

  • Angela W.

This is probably our favorite donut location in Southeast Michigan. They have a 24 hour drive thru, and very fresh donuts. My favorite right now are their seasonal pumpkin, though my family normally order the glazed year round, which are about $8.50 for a dozen. Be warned though, they are very addicting and only take cash.

  • Tee P.

Dom's proves the rule that some of the best finds come in unexpected places. I might not have looked twice at this place if I hadn't been desperate for a sunday donut (desperate enough to google 'donut' and drive to the closet blue dot on the map) What I found was straight-up donut heaven. The apple fritter and coffee cake donut are the best. But I tend towards the cinnamon/brown sugar side of the dessert spectrum rather than the chocolate-lover's. But honestly, no matter the flavor, Doms knocks it out of the park. And who doesn't love a good, old fashioned local donut shop?

I am not a huge doughnut fan..but this place made me a believer! They serve quality flavorful warm delicious doughnuts and iced cold milk! So Good! Also very friendly professional staff!!

I went there after hearing so many good reviews but...ehhh. I got a dozen donuts including banana shaped-peanut covered, danish, and some jelly/cream filled. Nothing special, almost too sweet for my taste. Haven't tried their coffee yet but so far the bakery has dissapointed me,

  • MItch R.

Great donuts, the best in ypsi, possibly michigan. As a local i am here quite often. I often get a half dozen for 6 bucks, so its very affordable for college kids. The best part is that they are open 24 hours, and they have drive through. Best cinnamon rolls i've ever had, try it with maple glaze and nuts.

    (5)
  • Cameron S.

I came here pretty frequently in college due to the fact they were open 24/7. Right when you walk in there are several glass cases just stacked with baked goods, it's a marvelous site! I'm simple when it comes to baked goods so their offerings of cookies, donuts, rolls and more is perfect. One of the best things is how fresh and cheap everything is here, I'm always amazed to load up on 6 items and then they tell me my order is just a bit over $3. If you are looking for a no-thrills bakery to satisfy a midnight snack, this is totally the place! Tip: This is a cash only business, thankfully you won't need a lot of it ;)

Since i first had their cakes and donuts, i've yet to have any better. i get their cakes for every occasion that requires one, and their donuts are awesome.

Have you ever had heaven in the form of a doughnut? I have, and it comes from Dom Bakeries. I've came here a number of times and every time I've never been happier. I usually get an apple fritter, BECAUSE IT HAS REAL APPLES. The apple fritter isn't too sweet but not too bland, the perfect balance in my opinion. Their cake doughnuts are perfect, because they taste like cake and when I get the cinnamon sugar one, I can die a happy man. I recommend coming here at least once if you're in the area.

Consistently the best in this area! Can't drive by on Washtenaw without stopping.

Dom's has my favorite cake donuts ever. I recommend the cinnamon sugar and the powdered sugar cake donuts. When you get them fresh, they have the perfect level of crispiness. My only problem is they sometimes run out of my favorites. Late morning or midday is the worst, evenings are basically fine.

Dom's is basically the reason I exist. Their donuts are amazing and always fresh. I really enjoy their sprinkled donuts. Workers are very fast and efficient. My boyfriend and I come to Dom's about once a week! It's our weekend treat.

We absolutely LOVE this place. I stop in fairly frequently for one or two and bring a dozen to work every few weeks. I've never had anything but a great experiences with the staff and the product is always top-notch.

These donuts are some of the best I have had. I'm pretty picky about my donuts and when someone asked me if I had ever had a Dom's donut, I said negative, let us go remedy this at once. And, it got to a point where I had to give these donuts up for Lent one year...cause I was having one a day (or so it seemed). Dom's is pretty inconspicuous located on your drive from Ann Arbor to downtown Ypsilanti located off of Washtenaw. Be warned that this place only takes cash, which is why they have an ATM located conveniently in the store. My favorite is the apple fritter and a plain old glazed which is only made at certain times. But hey, when it's open 24 hours- you can go whenever the need for a donut hits your fancy. The donuts aren't too pricey either. If you haven't found this gem...you really should go for an adventure.

We went to Dom's bakery for the first time last night for some birthday treats. We got the maple glazed cinnamon roll and the yellow custard filled eclair. Both were decadent and absolutely delicious. We consider ourselves pretty hard food critics and weren't expecting much from Dom's, but these pastries are excellent and affordable. The drive-thru window can't be beat! We plan to bring our niece and nephew here when they visit! We WILL return, whether my waistline agrees or not! One minor annoyance: they only accept cash or check.

Went to Dom's today for the paczki rush and was not disappointed. The parking lot was full (albeit small) but when I stepped inside the line was not long. There were three or four people behind the counter so I was ordering within 2 minutes. They had all the flavors available and I got 2 lemon, 2 strawberry, and 2 raspberry. She even marked the box for me so I could tell which was rasp. and which was strawb. which I appreciated. WARNING!! It's cash only but they have an ATM inside the store but I was already armed with my cash. I was probably in the store a total of 5 minutes. I highly reccommend this place for all your doughnut needs! The staff is polite and quick and the doughnuts are really good!!! There's nothing bad to say IMHO.

These are the best donuts that you can get anywhere. With the possible exception of certain cider mills. You don't have the variety you get at the big chain donut places, but you get quality. The fruit filled are bursting with fruit. The cream filled bursting with cream. Well, you get the idea. I think I would die with a smile on my face eating one of the long john cream filleds. I got somebody a birthday cake from here once and they said it was the best cake they ever had. I saw a couple of reviews on here that said these donuts were like any others. Ignore them. They either have no tastebuds or they are full of a certain brown substance.

So, Dom's isn't the prettiest trendiest bakery you're going to find in the Ann Arbor area (especially know with the influx of the boutique bakeries and cupcakeries all around...or the over abundance of Tim Hortons and Dunkin Donuts), the building is old and kind of run down, when you pull up to the building it looks kind of shady, but please don't let that deter you. I know Dom's is very often frequented by college students who have discovered the wonderfulness that they offer, usually to load up on fried carbohydrates to soak up all the alcohol, but Dom's has been a lifelong addiction of mine. All of the locals love this place and you know that is a sign of a good business (and a damn good donut)! Since I was a wee little one my dad would go to Dom's late at night on Saturdays to bring home donuts for us to eat for breakfast on Sunday mornings. Growing up with Dom's makes you a little bit spoiled (NO ONE makes a better Apple Fritter). The goods are always fresh, plentiful, varied (they have a pumpkin donut in the fall that I would probably give an arm for...my right arm...and I am right handed), and super CHEAP! Can I also mention that they are open 24 HOURS and they have a drive thru window??? Hello, WINNING! Folks, Dom's is a treasure and if you haven't been you are REALLY missing out on the best donuts around. Also let me say that not only their donuts are amazing (cookies, cakes, muffins, etc.), EVERYTHING they have is deeelicious and wonderfully scrumptious. Go...now! No, really, go now!

Great Donuts, Good Prices. 4 stars because the place sometimes comes across too cluttered and unkept. Also no credit cards :-(

  • Squidward B.

LOVE this place. Their donuts are the best around, they have a 24-hour drive-through window and their cakes are fabulous. I reserve the fifth star only because they sometimes give us the wrong donuts...but any donut's a good donut, so there you go.

Per other Yelpers I tried the red velvet (good, but nothing to write home about), the cream filled (good again, but too sweet for me) and the apple fritter. The apple fritter is single handedly the best doughnut I have ever had. When I am on my death bed the apple fritter will be part of my "last meal".

I frequent this place on weekends when the weather is good and I can walk there. They make their donuts fresh late at night so they are perfect in the morning. If you can get them right when they make them they are out of this world good. I love their apple filled (they make these around 9pm) and their custard filled are also one of my favs. They ONLY accept cash but they have an atm in the store. Friendly and a great neighborhood feel. Fancy isn't the word for this place but tasty is. Drive thru is super convenient and prices are very reasonable. This place makes Dunkin look like an cruddy stale donut shop.

They work fine in a pinch. I like the hours at least. I also liked the doughnuts but I did not love the doughnuts. We tried a variety for fun. We took a list. We got sour cream, a longjohn, a fritter, a strawberry jelly, a chocolate, a nutty and a glazed twist. There were others on the list but these are what they had. Not stellar selection, maybe its when we went or something. I am not saying I did not like them, I did. I am saying they were not the hottest or freshest and that I have had plenty of doughnuts I liked better. I am a doughnut snob though after too many years of sucking down K-zoos Sweetwaters. These were better than the big DD chain though. My husband was thrilled because my slightly lukewarm reaction meant the doughnuts would be his to finish solo. The service was friendly, people seemed nice, the doughnuts were fine just not matching the buildup. I will try them again at a different time of day and see if I just caught them at an off time or day.

As the mid-West is widely known for fried foods it's always confused me why it's go hard to get a quality donut in Michigan. These donuts are amazing! So light and fluffy. The true test of a good donut shop is the glazed. Dom's gets this right, so much so that I pass others by.

Okay, if you drive by it or pull up to the building... you may ask yourself... do I really want to get donuts from here? From outside, it looks run down and the building's presence may not appease the eye.. but take it from me... its worth pulling into the parking lot and walking in. Now, keep in mind... donuts come out around 10pm each night... it's also busy that time because lot of the locals will come when donuts are ready to go... in addition, all your local law enforcement departments will come and go making a stop... They are also busy from 6am until around 10am... so plan your time wisely. Why I love this place. First, their coffee. I have yet to taste a great coffee at a donuts shop - maybe it's the Detroit water that gives the unique taste??? :) just kidding... but kidding aside, their coffee is the best for a locally owned donut joint. I'm not a donut fan... but I love their long-john with custard. The apple fritter is also excellent. Can't go wrong with their glazed donuts as well. The price is very reasonable... for dozen, it's like under $8. They also sell soft drinks, milk, bagel in the morning, cup cakes, brownies, cookies, etc. The owners are very friendly and nice, great service. If you are in Ypsilanti area, give them a try. NOTE: CASH ONLY. They do have ATM inside if you need cash :)

If you like donuts, you'll LOVE this place. They don't have a crazy, colorful assortment of donuts with sprinkles and all of that other childish nonsense...no sir. What they do have is some of the best yeast-raised, sour dough, and cake donuts on the planet. Dom Bakeries delivers an experience that takes back to the early days of my childhood where my grandmother would take me to a local family-owned donut shop where the donuts were made fresh daily and by someone who gave a damn about quality, not quantity. Dunkin, Tim Hortons, or Krispy Kreme ain't got anything on "the Dom", well maybe a plethora of over priced, underwhelming pieces of dough. If you're looking for that "mom 'n pop shop" authentic flavor and quality, then look no further, you'll be sinking your teeth into a euphoric experience, I promise.

Great donuts. As a student of EMU the Dom was and is an institution. Go for the donuts and stay for the coffee, 24 hour service is a plus. It is always great to see a donut place other than Dunkin and Krispy and great to support the locals.

  • April C.

First time I went I grabbed the long john (err, I think), apple fritter, and a plain glazed. I thought the apple fritter was good but none of them were amazing. Quelled the donut monster though. Second time I grabbed the strawberry filled donut and....so yummy. It had a great flavor and plenty of strawberry filling. I think this a great local option to the donut craving and tastes pretty darn good. I will have to go in next time and actually see all of the options. So far, just drive thru.

I may not be the best person to review a place like this because I love everything deep-fried and sweet. I have only every been to Doms late in the night and they always have the freshest tasting donuts. Every time we go to Corner Brewery we stop over at Doms on our way home, and buy way too many donuts, mainly because they all look so good and we always want more than we can eat. I love their glazed donuts, the apple fritters, and the chocolate glazed ones. But my all time favorite is the long john with the custard filling. They do a red velvet donut which is quite nice too, as are the cake donuts. I only wish they had tags for their donuts so that I don't have to keep asking the person behind the counter what donut (filling) it is. Sometimes that makes them a little cranky. The nice part about Dom is that they are not expensive. Last Saturday, 6 donuts, of all different kinds, cost us $5. That is a lot less than I remember Krispy Kreme ever being.

  • Jenna M.

Dom is an unassuming bakery in a somewhat run-down area. Don't let that fool you though - they have some of the best doughnuts I've ever had! Try the sour cream if you're lucky enough to get one before they're sold out! (And never go to Dunkin Doughnuts again.)

    (5)
  • Brandon H.

You like donuts? Then you'll love Dom's. They got raised donuts, cake donuts, hella sweet treats, and in true donut fashion, are cheap as helllllll. What are you waiting for? Go, just go there and get one or 12. I'd recommend the apple fritter. Heat that ish up and nosh.

This is a monthly stop I make to pick up doughnuts for a work meeting. These concoctions are always fresh. There is a variety of choices in doughnuts from plain powder to fruit and custard filled to dunkers and muffins. The staff is always prompt and customer friendly. Drive through services is also available. You will need to bring cash, no credit or debit cards taken here. The up side is that one can enter with twenty dollars in hand. Then turn around and leave with two dozen items and change to spare. Can't beat it!

Liz W. is right - if you had Sweetwater's Doughnut Mill before, this place just seems kind of "meh". And Sweetwater's, at least the Battle Creek branch, was my doughnut place in undergrad, even though it was a 25-mile drive. Dom's, though, is 24 hours and they still do make a good, solid doughnut, especially if you've come fresh from Sidetrack's amazing happy hour. After 2-3 of those gigantic beers, anything will do, and it will do amazing. We got a variety, and they have all of the standard kinds. (Which again, makes me miss Sweetwater's, because Sweetwater's has flavors that are more... inventive.) I got a few chocolate and a few jelly-filled. The fiancee got mostly yeast doughnuts, which we both believe to be the superior doughnut type. They were really good, just not fantastic. It's 24 hours, which is great for barflies and EMU students. It's pretty no-frills and very inexpensive, but they do only accept cash, which I was unaware of the first time I went in. I just had to deal with it and pay the ATM fee, which was annoying, but shame on me for not reading Yelp! first.

Absolutely the best donut shop in the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti area.

  • Jeremy S.

Dom's Bakery is a local favorite which is a great alternative to corporate donut shops. The donuts and pastries here are delicious and they specialize in cake orders as well. I would have given 5 stars but the fact that they only accept cash causes them to lose a star.

Iconic. A Dom's Donut satisfies a craving that no place else can. I love that it is cash only. I love the coffee. I love knowing when the fresh donuts will be out. I love that they have a drive through that I will never use. An apple fritter is the perfect way to celebrate something, or eat your sorrows away. My emotions and donuts are closely linked-and I wouldn't have it any other way. Donuts. Ypsi. Swag.

They have the best donuts in Ann Arbor, area. Period! Of note, apple fritters, custard filled donuts, apple filled, blueberry cake, forget it - their whole menu is awesome. They also sell these amazing danish, last time there I got one that was 1/2 apple, 1/2 cream cheese - delightful! Went to get Paczki's on Fat Tuesday and they were amazing! Bring cash and your appetite.

    (5)
  • Jenna H.

The donuts are okay, the other pastries are mediocre, and they only take cash -- but they are open 24-7, cheap, and walking distance from both EMU and my house, so that gets 3 stars.

  • Asia H.

I haven't been here but I've had donuts from here and they taste like a donut from dunkin donuts or any other donut place. I don't see why this place is such a huge deal around here.

  • Esther Y.

I think Dom's is pretty awesome. It kind of sucks that they don't take credit card, especially when you have to dig around in your car for some change for a donut, but it's still awesome. All their donuts are really tasty. I haven't had one that I didn't like.

APPLE FRITTERS. P.S. - One time I was on tour and met another band in Brooklyn (NY) and when I mentioned where I was from their only remembrance of Ypsilanti was, "oh, that place that has that amazing donut place!" Everyone who tries Doms is changed for life! Try it if you haven't!

  • Sarah M.

Just relocated from SF and discovering that A2 doesn't have that many donut places... Stopped by here last night. Got the plain glazed, blueberry cake and apple fritter, all were still warm which just makes it even better. The blueberry cake had a really good tender crumb. Will definitely be back!

Local. Independent. Perfected. Love. Doughnut? Fresh and cooked to perfection. Croissant? Tasteful and mastered. Bagel? Just that right texture. 24-hours. What? An establishment which has perfected the baked good serves them fresh and around the clock -- cheap! BUT! You better carry cash, because this place won't take any plastic :( (Since it's so addicting, this might make sense and help its customers prevent going into credit debt over their doughnut withdrawls.)

    (5)
  • Morgan M.

Dom sports the BEST APPLE FRITTER I have ever had. I can hardly eat apple fritters from anywhere else. I try. I can't I was there last night and the dude working the register was kinging it up all over the place. Sporting sideburns, slicked hair and the first few buttons of his short open. He even called out a bummy-lookin' dude for talking to himself, then smiled from ear to ear. This is just filler, BEST APPLE FRITTER ever ever. It's so obvious.

the carbohydrate spirits blesseth us with dom's. i believe doughnuts may be my downfall, and i didn't realize that until i ate the forbidden fruit of dom's. their doughnuts are always soft, sweet, and luscious. my favorites were the chocolate custard-filled bars and maple cream-filled bars; i have yet to find a place the make doughnuts that amazing here in san diego. their cookies are amazing, too, ESPECIALLY the sugar cookies. they always keep up with the seasons and frost the cookies in line with upcoming holidays. oh, and they're 24 hours. sweet goodness.

  • Norman A.

Great pastries served in a slightly dated donut shop. If you want a pastry they have it 24 hours a day. Donuts, cinnamon rolls. Apple fritters, turnovers, cookies served by the sweetest little family. Drive in or walk in. I like the walk in cause the slightly sticky floor reminds me of the bakeries I use to visit before bakeries became an add on to a specialty store. Pastries cooked by teens and young adults who would otherwise not have jobs. If you go in early the bakers are slaving away at their trade. Their product may not be the absolute best in any category but it is the best overall for these types of pastries, pastries for Everyman.

Dom's is different than Tim Horton's or Dunkin. For one, it's an independent bakery, and they seem to make just as many large custom cakes as they do donuts. The one thing that sets Dom apart from the name brands is the character of the donut. Years ago, my memories of fresh donuts were fluffy and chewy, with lots of air pockets inside. In the past few years, Tim Horton's and Dunkin left me dissatisfied, because their donuts tended to be more "bready," dense, and cake-like. I couldn't find the donuts of my youth. However, Dom restored my faith! My favorite is the classic sugar coated twist--a slight crisp bite followed by sweet chewy lightness. In my mind, this is what fried dough should taste like. Not like cake. Also great are the lemon poppyseed muffin and the sour cream curved ones. Great value, too: you can get a mixed dozen for under $7, so choose wisely and happily! Dom's takes cash only, and I'll happily give them a bit of my dough for a dozen of theirs. :)

The donuts are great, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. If you are craving donuts & live in the Ann Arbor-Ypsi area, this is where you should go.

You get what you pay for. I like the maple bar, but I have a hard time making it through one because of all the processed sugar. The employees are nice and the donuts are cheap.

  • Stephen H.

I don't give many places 5 stars at all. I tend to be a little on the picky side but I have to admit, Doms has the BEST coffee and donuts anywhere in a 20 mile radius that I have found and is conveniently located for anyone who goes to EMU or lives in the area. Prices are reasonable and the service is consistently pretty fast.

    (5)
  • Brian W.

It's 24 hours. It's locally owned. It's about 500% better than Tim Hortons. They have a pretty good variety, but the kids are usually disappointed because they don't do many with sprinkles. It's okay with me because I don't understand the fascination with tasteless sprinkles. My favorite type of donut is the custard long john, and theirs is excellent. It's definitely worth a stop.

    (4)
  • Sarah R.

Dom Bakeries doesn't look very impressive from the outside. It's in a brick building with peeling paint. Inside, it's a bit nicer. There are tables where you can hang out with friends and eat donuts or cookies. The positives at Dom are that the donuts are big compared to many chain donut stores, and they are a locally owned business. In addition, they offer cookies, muffins, cinnamon rolls and other baked treats. They also make custom cakes to order. I want to like them more than I do, but I find their selection is just so-so. The last time I was there, my husband didn't find the Boston Cream donuts that are his favorite, so we went elsewhere.

    (3)
  • Jenn V.

Everyone else has pretty much covered it-- 24 hrs, locally owned, does the trick when you have the munchies.. I used to go here when I lived in EMU's "student ghetto" area. It was convenient and the perfect place to hit when you have been up studying and need a sweet treat on the cheap. And the obvious.. great for when you are drunk. Sometimes the donuts are still warm, and despite lacking most of the English language the family that owns it (and work it all the time) are nice. Love the single pieces of sheet cake, iced sugar cookies and custard eclairs. Nothing fancy, but they have the basics covered for a very reasonable price.

    (4)
  • Riki L.

Amazing. What more could I ask for? I love this place. It is open 24 hours with a great drive through service, ironically I always forget to utilize that during the early morning hours.. The strawberry jelly filled donut is great as are the raspberry cream cheese danishes. The true test of a tasty donut shop, however, are how delicious the plain glazed donuts are, and Dom's is commanding in that arena. Bring a friend. Share.

Sometimes you accidentally stay out at the bar a little too late. Besides wanting something to sponge up some of the booze in your belly, you also may want to get your sweetheart a little something to wake up to the next a.m. Dom's is your place. Conveniently located on Washtenaw, it's probably on your route if you're headed from Ypsi to Ann Arbor. Have a friend swing you by the drive-through, or just go on in. Ahhh, the beauty of a 24-hr doughnut joint. They don't have all sorts of varieties, but what they do, they do well. I usually just go for the glazed donuts or glazed twists. Perfect sweetness on the outside, and fluffy cakey-ness within. And, 4 donuts for $3? Yup, they're cheap, too! I only eat doughnuts a handful of times a year, but when I do, you can bet it's usually from a late-night stop at Dom's.

  • Dave Y.

THE BEST donuts around here. people have *raved* to me about that dexter place, dimo's, or washtenaw dairy, etc., but none of them is nearly as good as this place. i also love their blueberry muffins. they're open 24 hours, and the people are super friendly. they even have a drive-thru if you're too lazy to get out of the car. price is also super reasonable. they're also a bakery, with bagels, cakes, cookies, etc.

  • M B.

When it comes to doughnuts, pastries, cakes, etc. this place is the greatest. Always open and an interesting mix of clientele. But could they just make decent coffee? There's a drive-thru and it's very convenient to my home. But, the coffee is wretched.

    (3)
  • Laura H.

Decent. I went in the early afternoon on a Sunday. When I walked in, the owners' family gathered around the counter gave me a collective stare, which was a little awkward... but the pastries were great. I picked up a plain chocolate iced, a blueberry filled, and an apple fritter for me and my husband, and the 3 doughnuts came to $2.80. Sweet! They were still intact when I got them home after running some errands. My fav was the plain chocolate- I guess I'm just old fashioned. So, aside from the less-than-friendly environment, it's an ok place.

I love Dom's. I can't say much else besides whenever my family has any sort of event we order our cakes from here. Also our donuts. If we could order more things from here we would because it's just THAT good. The Long johns are my favorite. mmm!

I gotta show some love for Dom's. When you low on dat skrill go get a real cheap bag of day old bagels. Muffins, donuts, coffee, all real real awesome. I like the cinnamon and sugar donuts and the banana muffins best. 24 hour family owned business...just good times mang...simple stuff

There probably isn't much I can say here that hasn't been said already but Dom Bakeries is underrated and super awesome. The outside of the building may look deceiving but this place is a GEM. They put Dunkin Donuts and Tim Hortons to shame!!! I always get their Boston cream doughnuts or long john's. The dough is so fluffy and light and the custards in their doughnuts are oh-so-yummy. Furthermore, this place is probably the CHEAPEST doughnut shop around. Bon appetit!

  • Katy B.

First to review... seriously?? Dom's is a classic. Donuts and coffee. They expanded into Ann Arbor with a few locations in the 80's through the early 00's, but at present, I think this is the only location left. One nice feature is that they're open 24 hours, so if you get a craving for a croissant at 4 in the morning, they're there for you. Insider's tip - that's also right around the time when they're coming out of the oven, so they'll be nice and warm. For a classic, hit the drive through for a butter croissant and cup of half coffee, half hot chocolate. Ah, tradition. Dom's is solid for what it is, nothing fancy or experimental here, just solid donuts and a decent cup of (very non-gourmet) coffee.

Oh man, the best baked good ever! Plus you can go through the drive through and be on your way in a minute. My friend said the cupcake was the best she's ever had and the donuts I got were amazing.

  • Sarah W.

This is a great place to get donuts in Ypsi. All your standard flavors and types. You can also order cakes and get a picture put on it. I remember someone years ago I knew received the most horrendous photo of himself on his birthday cake from here. Supposedly they couldn't find a better photo. But really a picture of someone scratching their ear holding a cell phone!? It looks like they haven't remodeled in years, but the shouldn't, that is part of the charm. Easy parking and if your in the area you will probably pass by it because it is on the main drag.

  • Sly F.

Everyone else has said it. I love these donuts and take my SO here for a treat once in a while when we drive by. It's the best when the donuts are still warm... People are nice that work there and are always right at the counter when you walk in. Amazing. Some waits at bakeries can be annoying, but have yet to have a problem here. Plus they have a drive through... haven't used it yet... but someday. Someday...

Dom's is my favorite place to get doughnuts in the ypsiarbor area. The reviewer before me nailed it pretty much on the head: great doughnuts, good coffee, drive-through is quick, even at 5 in the morning when I roll in to get goodies to bring in to work. The price is right, too.

  • Ani B.

Always looking for fantastic donuts. I was somewhat disappointed. i thought it would be outstanding. I found them good but not exceptional. The glazed yeast were quite good. The custard long john mediocre; i did like the cake types, chocolate and yellow w/ choc. icing. Still all in all, they were just OK. I drive great distances for good donuts, and i guess i'll still have to drive farther than Ypsi to keep looking for the best.

Because we are awesomely cool (and awesomely poor), we decided to forgo a wedding cake and do wedding donuts instead. Without hesitation, we went to Dom and ordered eight dozen. Far and away, these were the hit of the wedding. People STILL talk about the "donut cake" and it's been two months--conspicuously absent from comments are "you looked beautiful Patti!" "what a great spread of food!" "books as centerpieces? how clever!". No. It's all about the donuts. THAT is how good these donuts are. And the icing on the, er, donut was that it cost less than $100. Wedding cake goes for $8 a slice. Think about that for a minute. Now go eat a Dom donut.

It's cash only, which in my opinion says a lot about a place. If it can stay open it means that people go out of their way to go here. I've only stopped in twice. Once was for donuts - check out the red velvet. Most recently for some cookies for my office. The sugar cookies with icing are seriously delicious. Everything is really reasonably priced 18 cookies was 12.50. The service is fast & efficient, no frills but you get in & out with what you want. There are a couple tables if you want to sit, but it's more of a carry out place. Check it out!
