Delicious food great service. Jason and Victoria make sure that their customers are happy. They will often give you samples of whatever you would like to try. They offer your traditional thai dishes but the taste sets itself apart from other restaurants in the area. You will not be disappointed coming here and will more than likely become a regular!

Absolutely delicious food! Very friendly service! We had Thai BBQ chicken and Pad Thai. Recommend both dishes.

Stopped on a whim while working to grab dinner. N1 Chicken Pad Thai was my choice along with the spring rolls. I was not impressed with my entree, as far as value is concerned I felt Sweetie under delivered... On the bright side the staff was uuber friendly and informative and the dining area was immaculate. Wish them all the best but its just not what I had envisioned.

Sweetie Thai appears unassuming in its strip mall location, so I had never given much thought to trying it. My boyfriend spearheaded a double date there, and I was very pleasantly surprised, as was everyone else at the table. I was struck by the interior's minimalism and cleanliness. There was a very frequent custumor inside who gave us his recommendations, and he said that Sweetie Thai consistently delivers on quality and excellent customer service. Intrigued, our group loaded up on a few different things: red and yellow curry, the thai fried rice, the lettuce wraps, and spring rolls. Everyone felt very satisfied with their individual choices, and we were collectively wowed by the lettuce wraps. Jason, the owner, came out and explained the process. While I don't remember the full description, it did involve some frying and fried pork. Paired with really fresh green onions, perfect lettuce, and an excellent spice combination, the lettuce wraps stood on their own. In the days since our visit, I have often found myself craving them. The thai iced tea and the lotus cookies balanced out the heat of our meals perfectly. The outdoor dining area was clean, sturdy, and even had fresh flowers. If you can ignore the 28th street traffic, it makes for a pretty nice little dinner location. After meeting both the owner, Jason, and his wife, who does all the cooking from family recipes, I was impressed by their commitment to fresh ingredients and freshly-prepared meals. That being said, if you'll be dining in, plan on a wait comparable to any other sit-down restaurant. Because the prepare all the food upon ordering, Sweetie Thai doesn't have the speed that some other hole-in-the-wall-type restaurants have. I look forward to visiting and ordering out from Sweetie Thai in the near future, and I highly recommend giving it a try and supporting this delightful little locally-owned business!

So I was sitting in my office midday and my stomach started to rumble because I was stupid and didn't eat breakfast. It happens. Looking up places that delivered to the area I was stuck with pizza shops or subs. Then I saw Sweetie Thai. I'm very particular in what I like so ordering from an unknown scared me but being stuck with blah pizza or Jimmy Johns just wasn't going to do on this very blistery November day. I checked out the menu and after some consideration I decided to go with the Pad Thai (a good staple) and some Pho (because its cold and a good Pho can ALWAYS guarantee satisfaction on a cold day even better then tomato soup with grilled cheese) with a side order of Crab Ragoons. I called them up and a pleasant sounding man answered the phone and I declared my order was for delivery. He took my address and my order and told me it should be about 30 minutes til my food arrived. 45 minutes later while I was on the phone arguing with the phone company a guy came in carrying a take out bag that I immediately thought was far too big to be my order but sure enough I smelled the heavenly scent of the broth of my Pho! I signed my bill (and a little perturbed that I was charged more for delivery as it was rang up that I was more then 5 miles from there, but I'm not) The delivery guy explained that the boxed my Pho separately and the noodles and veggies were separate from the broth to travel much better for my own experience. Ok, Thats Cool. He also told me he felt really bad that he forgot a spoon but hoped I had one in the office. Eh, I'll deal with that when the time comes.I really wanted to eat my crab ragoons first cus because no matter where you buy them from, once those get cold they're just BLAH and seeing how I was a bit put off to order them because they're were kinda more then what I'm use to paying so I was a bit curious.. I opened my bags and I found them... They're not the itty bitty with a quarter teaspoon of imitation crab and no spice. These are large, golden brown and stuffed so much that I wonder how they fried them without any of the filling escaping. I grab one and bite into seriously one of the best ragoons I have ever eaten (I have a friend who makes them from a family recipe which are just as large but seriously I will have to start cheating on my friend for these) So much crab in them I almost want to say it could've used more cheese (but same amount of spices) but then I don't know where they're put it! After eating all four my stomach was thanking me and my tastebuds were angry at me for not ordering more! I moved onto my Pho. I mixed my broth and spices into the noodles and veggies and I just sat at my desk smelling this scent that my tummy is telling my brain GET IN ME! Problem is, I don't have a spoon. I have chopsticks, but no spoon. This is a MAJOR issue. I honestly search for 15 minutes around the office for a spoon and I come up empty handed. I feel as if I've been defeated to have such a wonderful smell just smack me around and say haha! No Soup for You! I'm about to get carnal and just start slurping and eating the noodles with chopsticks when a coworker tells me he has a fork. It will have to do, and its just a bit more civilized. I take a bite of my pho and its like the food gods have descended onto my tongue. I take another bite and realize I don't care I need to slurp this broth because it is AMAZING! After getting all my pho and the ragoons down I'm stuffed. I have an uneaten order of Pad Thai sitting on my desk. That's ok, for now Grand Rapids needs to know that this new Thai place which delivers has some food that they NEED to try. You won't be disappointed. I will def be ordering from here again, and again, and again....

Best rangoons you'll ever have. My girlfriend and I order the curry at least once per week. You will not be disappointed with this place.

I've tried two other Thai restaurants since moving to Grand Rapids. Sweetie Thai has some of the best Thai food I've ever eaten, including restaurants in Chicago and Manhattan. My go to meal is the red chicken curry. They're honest about spice levels. I typically go with the spiciest, but here I go with a four out of five.

Best, freshest Thai food in town. Owners and staff are super friendly and helpful with the menu. This will definitely be a regular place for us.

I would consider Sweetie Thai the Detroit Redwings of Thai food, being that they are the best, and only chumps would argue that statement. The crab rangoons are unlike any I have ever experienced. Beware however, once you eat here you will never want to go to any other Thai restaurant, ever...

Ordered on a Sunday around 11 30 AM. There was only one customer ahead of us who ordered chicken wings and fried rice. It took her order almost 25 minutes to complete. Informed by guy taking our order that the cook is Laotian. Location is clean and new. There are two tvs and about 6 tables for dine in. There is a drink station on the bar. All menus are on the tvs behind the counter. No paper menus available at this time. We ordered a lot of food, but our order took almost 40 minutes. In addition portion sizes are rather small for price. This is my reason for 4 stars. The owner apologized for the wait time which was appreciated. Stuffed jumbo chicken wing - 10.95 - you only get 1 wing for this price!!!! Taste was good, but ridiculous portion for that price. At least 2-3 wings would be okay. I understand a lot of work goes into prepping these. Crab rangoons - 4 pieces. Very good flavor and amount of cheese and initiation crab. Sweetie Thai wings - ordered 4 pieces for 6 dollars. Very crisp and spicy. Would recommend. Pad lard Na chicken - thinner noodles with mix of vegs. Decent flavor for noodles. lap gai - very good and authentic Lao style, but very small lunch portion size for what you pay. Served on two lettuce beds. Nam kao tod - 9.95 - for a smaller portion too. Very good taste and authentic Lao style too. Served with 6 lettuce pieces and handful of the nam. We ordered lunch size so I'm not sure how much more you would get for dinner portions. Not many places have this on the menu either. Green mango Salad - very crisp mango and flavors were good. Mok bah - 6.95 - not many places have this on the menu. Decent flavor and taste. Lao style. Shrimp spring rolls - 6.95 - essentially this is just two spring rolls cut into 4 pieces. Rather pricey in my opinion. Shrimp, carrots, cucumber and noodles included with peanut dipping sauce. Thai iced tea - 2.95 - good! Would recommend. Thai iced coffee - 2.95 - I didn't care for it too much since it had a strong vanilla flavoring in it.

Best Thai food in Grand Rapids area! Two Phitchit Thai ladies seal of approval. First time visit, will be joining the regulars status soon. Always searching for great Thai food in GR, this one tops the list. The spicy beef salad was amazing, and at spicy index 5 you're eating like an actual Thai. Thanks for a recommendation on the Thai wings from one of the regulars, ask for the spicy index 10. Or at least try one. Lots of traditional dishes with some amazing variations, courtesy of the chef's creativity. She's Laos/Thai, so you're getting authentic tasting food. Dishes for the first visit were: spicy beef salad, papaya salad, bbq chicken with sticky rice (open flame bbq, not saucy bbq), chicken pad thai, chicken wings (get the jumbo size), and fried rice.

The food is really good and there is a great variety of dishes. Everything I've tried has been delicious and is visually appealing. The owner is very friendly and sells his products well. The only "downside" is their #5 hot spice is too mild for my taste but it's good enough for most.

We loved the crab Rangoon's..there was actually meat in them. The curry pad tai was also delicious.

This place was.... Interesting. The kid who waited on is was very cool about explaining how the lotus flower cookies are made and he gave us a sample of their banana coconut bread. The lotus flower cookies were supposed to be coconut flavored too - I thought that was lacking, the cookies just tasted like a fancy fortune cookie. The banana coconut bread just tasted like banana. Both were good but not as advertised (no coconut flavor). The Thai coffee was pretty good. The fish tank and flowers were pretty. And everything was very clean. The biggest problem to me was the wastefulness. Everything was on/in styrofoam, the menu was on four to five flat screen tvs they even gave us a plastic handle thing that our drink sat in for "carry out" - like i can't carry a cup- insane. Even the garbage was electronic! The frickin garbage! I don't wanna have to touch the garbage to make it open! Also we overheard two guys complaining that their pad Thai didn't have enough chicken and was a small portion for the price. It looked fresh. I'm open to going back someday.

I adored my lunch at Sweetie Thai. The owners/chef should be quite proud of this bright, shining star of the GR food scene. Every item we ordered was expertly and accurately prepared, containing fresh, delicious ingredients. I can't wait to return and delve deeper into the menu! But I cannot ignore some nagging issues, mentioned in others' reviews- -the disposable dinnerware is wasteful and lacking in presentation -too few seating options for dine-in -a long wait that neither matched the formality of the restaurant nor the few patrons that were there while I dined It's a good thing that the actual menu items are so on-point, as they make me extremely forgiving! Other pluses include the dedication and charm of the proprietors and their family, and the magnificent cleanliness of the dining room.

Great fresh food and great service. The sweet n sour shrimp soup is definitely something to get time and time again. The crab Rangoons were also wonderful, they were filed with fresh veggies, crab n cream sauce. The yellow curry was great along with the pad see ew. Everything we got was delicious. Definitely a hidden gem.

Wonderful customer service and to die for Thai food! I spent 2 months in Thailand and haven't found a true authentic restaurant in the states until now! So so good!!!!!

  • Evan M.

Food was pretty good overall, but I found my chicken dish to have WAY too many onions in it, as in more than quadruple what I have ever received at other Thai places in town. Then, there is the issue of the wait. I have both called in an order for pickup and also walked in and placed an order for carry out. Both bad choices. The people I have dealt with have always been great, but I waited over 20 mins for my food AFTER I had called in the order and drive to the restaurant to pickup! They really just need to get their staffing issues under control and this place could be great. Until then, plan about an hour ahead for dinner.

Had lunch here with my dad and it was great! It a family run business with the taste of authentic in a clean, modern setting. I choose the beef pho and absolutely loved it. It was my first experience with pho and the owner was more than willing to show me the ropes. The broth was great to start off with, but adding the siracha and barbecue sauce took it to a whole new level of deliciousness! To drink I had the Thai tea, another first for me. The first couple sips were unique, but after that I was hooked. So much so that I got one to go after the meal was over! My dad choose the chicken wings, level three spicy. They put to shame anything else that has ever dared to call itself a chicken wing. I could order the wings and just sit there and eat twenty of them. Between the friendliness of the staff and the excellent food quality; this little gem is not only worthy of a five star rating, but in my book deserves a sixth star!

I reserve my 5 star ratings for those moments where a Gastronomical Harmonic Convergence takes place in food, price and ambiance/decor . . . . and I'm blown away. I mention this because my standards for "5 stars" in Yelp are (perhaps too) high. While I didn't have a GHC moment - Sweetie Thai was a GREAT little stop and it met all my expectations. Sweetie This was not a fine dining experience and I mean that as a compliment. It was unpretentious, casual, low-key and ohhhh soooo gooooood. Jason the co-owner treated us like we were long lost friends, recommending food, offering samples and even providing an appetizer that he insisted we try, a fried rice ball, pork thingee served in a lettuce leaf (taco style). It was terrific as was the Crab Rangoon - maybe the best I've ever had. Two entrees later, the Thai BBQ Chicken and the Chilli Beef Basil (4 heat level was just right), and we were satisfied and stuffed. Yet, here comes a slice of the moistest banana bread I've ever had. With some cream cheese frosting, you'd swear it was cake - really it was that good. The meal highlight was Jason's 7 year old daughter providing some singing and dancing entertainment - you can watch for her on America's Got Talent in a few years. Very cute and very family oriented place. You'll feel like you belong here. The inside was very clean, bright and very casual. My kind of place When Thai food is well prepared, it just explodes with great flavors and I can't wait to give Sweetie Thai another visit. Their menu from top to bottom looks wonderful.

I'm always looking for great Thai food, so I decided to stop on my way to work one day. The decor is very modern and it is the cleanest restaurant I've ever been in. Seriously, you could have eaten off the bathroom floor. The cleanliness is why I gave 2 stars. I wish everything else was as impressive. The guy behind the counter seemed distracted and almost bothered that he had to help me. After a long wait, my food came out. Shrimp Pad Thai and fresh rolls. The Pad Thai was lacking in flavor and shrimp. There were 3 shrimp in my dish! And the portion was small. For the money I paid I expected to see more than 3 shrimp, even if the portion was smaller than normal. Next time I'll drive across town to Thai Express. They never disappoint.

Ive stopped here several times at 10:30 AM (when they supposedly open) and no one is ever here. I have wanted to try this place for a long time, because I love Thai food, and it looks like they have great ratings. I always end up going next door to Tacos El Caporal... (They have great Mexican food!) Once again, no one was around.

  • Stacee G.

Seriously the best thai food I have had in Grand Rapids! Jason is incredible and his daughter even came out and sang us a Ke$ha song. She's six and killed it! The good was literally amazing. Also, they just added a smoothie bar with all fresh ingredients. Try one!

  • Nicole G.

Best Thai I have ever had. The restaurant s impeccably clean and the staff is very nice. They weren't too pushy and allowed us to look at the screens. The food was amazing. I loved the spring rolls and my husband loved his crab ragoon (he doesn't typically care for it). I got curry and my husband got sweet and sour chicken. We both loved it and were surprised with the portions. They do more eastern numbers with spice. So be careful! Overall we will be back!

3.5 stars (if I could): So we decided to grab Mexican food on Cinco de Mayo, and of course everywhere we went had at least a 45 minute wait. Sweetie Thai was nearby, and we were starving, so we decided to forgo the margaritas & tacos, and go for some noodles instead. When we walked in, no one was in Sweetie Thai except for one woman and the owner's young daughter. My immediate reaction was that the place was very clean and bright, and the décor was simple (a bamboo plant on each of the 5 small tables, 2 tvs, 2 large banana trees, and a really cool fish tank). The dining room is small and casual; all of the food is served on styrofoam plates with plastic utensils. We walked up to the counter to order, and the owner was very friendly and helpful. He was especially helpful when it came to picking our spice level. Their spice levels go from 1 to 5. I just wanted a little spice, so he told me to order a 1. We ordered: 2 tom yum gui (lemongrass) soups (spice 2 & 3), 1 chicken pad thai (spice 3) and 1 drunken noodles with tofu (spice 1). Each meal comes with either 2 small spring rolls or a crab Rangoon. We both got the spring rolls. All of the food came out piping hot and made to order! It was almost too hot to eat! The spring rolls were just ok; they kind of tasted like pre-made, frozen rolls. The soup was great! Very tasty and quite spicy! It had chicken, tomatoes, mushrooms, spices, lime leaf, etc and was not too oily. My only problem with it was that it was so temperature hot AND spicy, that my mouth was burning the whole time I was eating it. The chicken pad thai was just ok also. The sauce was more of a peanut sauce rather than a tamarind sauce, so it was very thick, and it was not spicy at all. They asked if we wanted a side of chili or peanut sauce with it which was kind of weird; we got the peanut sauce, but didn't realize that they would charge us 50 cents for it!! I've had better pad thai and drunken noodles at restaurants where I'm from. I asked the owner if I could sub tofu for the chicken; he said yes, but didn't tell me that it was going to cost me $1! The drunken noodles were way too salty-- they had a soy & fish sauce base. The tofu was not fried before it was added to the noodles, so it absorbed a lot of soy sauce and was almost too salty to eat! The noodles were supposed to be spice level 1, but were spicier than the pad thai! I'd go back to try something different, however I will not get any of the extra add-ons! We spent $35 which is expensive for the portion sizes. Usually, casual thai food establishments charge ~$8/entrée and give you double the amount of food! Just beware that as they get busy, the wait for your food tends to be long, since they do make everything to order. And you pay at the counter before you get your food which I think is unnecessary if you are eating in. You should be able to run a tab, and pay when you leave. Paying first meant that we had to tip before we got our food; I don't like doing that because I like to tip based on service. I probably would have left a bigger tip after the meal.

Mango salad is the most addicting thing here.... You have to try it. Seriously. Try it. Like that they customize the heat level. I always stick with 0. Food is great. Crab rangoons and Spring rolls are freaking awesome. Only complain is the price for the amount of food you get....sometimes I still leave a little hungry.

This is the best Thai restaurant in the Grand Rapids area! Not only is the food terrific, but I adore the staff there. Every time I visit, they've been very customer service oriented and always offer great suggestions. This is a family-run business, and their dedication to making great food shows. The food is bold and ingredients fresh. While their menu is not exhaustive, it isn't skimpy either. Personally, I'd rather have less choices that are expertly prepared than a million choices that take away from that attention that goes into a dish. The store itself is very clean. Sometimes you might have a bit of a wait, but it's worth it. Call ahead. I am much fonder of savory/umami dishes, so I recommend any of the curries, and the green papaya salad (which always ends up being at least one rating higher on the heat scale, but I eat it anyway, even as the heat of the peppers is scalding my mouth). I'd recommend them to any Thai food lover. P. S. The coconut banana bread is delicious. I'm not a big fan of sweet food, but this was fantastic!

So delicious! Portions are big for is cooked perfectly. No extra oil or grease. All food is fresh and free range chicken. Crab Rangoon is made with real crab meat you can see. They have a tad bit of sweetness. Customer service is awesome. It's like you walked into a friends place for a meal. You are not just a number! Will definitely go back!

Ordered food at 2:30 and was told 16 minutes so I arrived at 2:50 and waited until 3:30 and finally our food came out with no explanation or apology. Won't be going back for this reason. There is better thai in the area.

Best Thai food in the GR area. The chicken and beef salad are both incredible. Very fresh ingredients. You can tell everything is from scratch, I bet you'd be hard pressed to find a can of anything in that place. Very clean place and the owners are extremely nice. My only complaint is that I'm a half hour away from this place! You will not be disappointed. Bookmark this one for sure.

This is the first good Thai I have had in the State of Michigan. I ordered the Tom Kha Gai, Beef Basil, and crab rangoons for delivery. The rangoons are crisp, well filled, and has a pleasant, sweet and savory flavor. The soup is crisp, clean, and flavorful, having all the flavor such a soup should. The beef basil is wonderfully spicy, tender beef, perfectly cooked veggies. Cooked to perfection down to the white rice!

Made my way over to Sweetie Thai for lunch today. Very good food and service. The proprietor Jason was very personable and excited about their menu and freshness of product. The space was very clean and crisp looking...huge plus. He nudged me toward the crab cheese but I balked since it was krab. He brought me out 1(made to order) to try during my meal. It was much better than I thought it would be. I ordered the pork spring rolls. They were cooked well, very crisp. They could've stood to have a bit more flavor. For lunch I had the "jumbo" Tom Yum Goong (shrimp). This was fabulous. 4 large, shell on, deveined shrimp dominated the bowl. Spice and flavor were perfect. 4 stars chef Victoria(who was also very personable when she dropped off my made to order soup)! On my way out, Jason have me a piece of banana bread. I was so stuffed, I had to bring it home. I look forward to my next visit. I would recommend a trip based on the soup alone.

It was Sunday afternoon and I was craving the Thai food that GR is the best for. Thai Express was closed so I looked on yelp and decided to give this place a try. There seemed to be nothing but good things said about this place, but personally, the only thing that impressed me was the cleanliness and modern decor. It was clear that a lot of money was put into the place, since everything was virtually brand new and 6 flat screens were on the walls... but our food was served on paper and styrofoam plates. That was a turn off IMO. Maybe it's judgmental of me, but I always look for people of the same race/ethnicity eating in an ethnic restaurant--because then you know the food is good and authentic. The restaurant was busy, but not one Thai or Asian person came in. That kind of spoke for itself. The menu was pretty limited, and definitely on the pricier side. (Our bill was over $30 for just two people!) The serving sizes were small, and the food wasn't noteworthy or anything, so it really wasn't worth the money. :( The crab ragoons though... those were the best I've ever had. I'd only go back and order some to-go next time.

My husband and I went there for the first time this evening and it was fantastic. We love Thai food and have a place right next to us that is good but Sweetie Thai has won us over, will definitely go back. With it being our first time Jason gave us banana bread and a chicken wing to try and try were delicious!! So we're his recommendations! I would say the best Thai food in town! Thanks Sweetie Thai for a wonderful experience!

Didn't realize this place existed until this week...had a good experience with friends at this family run business. The woman who helped us was extremely accommodating, and even spoke a little Laotian to me when she realized I was half Lao. All of the food is made fresh and upon order. No leftovers from the morning are served. It's not a super fancy sit-down place--more like a takeout style restaurant that offers a relaxed dine-in experience. They would do great in a college town...anyway, there are large screens on the walls so you can watch television while dining. The menu is also featured on a series of nice screens (and menu brochures), and there are various items for purchase, including bottled energy drinks, candy, and gum. I got their crab ragoons, which are like triangular pillows in contrast to the traditional crab cheese wontons that are often seen in Chinese restaurants in America. For my entrée, I ordered the Pad Ke Mao (Drunken Noodle--see picture) with a spicy level of 4. "Level 4? You're really Lao!" If you can't handle spicy food, I wouldn't order anything above a 2. Maybe even stick with a 1. Level 3 was still a bit much for my friend, who normally likes a little spice. My level 4 dish was manageable with two cups of water, but still pretty damn spicy. A man who was working later on gave my other friend tips on how to best handle eating the spicy pepper with her fried rice ball/lettuce wrap dish (break a little piece of it off and eat it with a big bite, rather than biting into the pepper itself). Super helpful for her. Overall, good experience here with a pleasant staff.

One of my favorite places in the whole world is Thailand. I have been many times and love the people, the food, even the humid weather. Thai tastes are very inclusive; meaning Thai Tastes include sweet and hot, sour and cold, crisp and soft, and many times all at the same time. Today I had their Spicy Lobster and Green Mango Salad with Thai chilies. Let me begin by saying when Thai People say "hot" they are not kidding. Thai hot makes things like jalapeños seem like Skittles. The Mango Salad had just the right sprinkling of the afore mention chilies and was perfect. Of course the star of the show was the lobster. Done perfectly, with a sauce that only made the lobster taste better. Next there is the attitude of the owners. They are the sweetest and nicest people ever. They seem to have a way of "soft" selling their food, but not pushy in any way. They are just proud, and rightfully so, of their food. They should be. Husband and wife work together, she in the kitchen, he out front explaining and suggesting. If you have never been to Thailand, in Grand Rapids this is as close as I have tasted. 5 stars kids.....well done.

Pros: * Great, flavorful, fresh food * Clean, simple atmosphere * Super friendly service Each time I've visited they've been helpful and have even given us samples of their lettuce wraps to try. Highly recommend the pho, fried rice ball salad, and the crab rangoon that I would say is the best I've had in GR. It has giant hunks of crab in it - delicious.

I love the service I get when I come here. And there Pad Thai is awesome. I've also tried lettuce wraps, and there wings. It's always clean too. And there LED lights make the atmosphere even better!!!

Ate here and got the Lap Gai dinner. It came with 2 spring rolls or crab rangoons. I am a crab rangoon fan and these are the best ones I've ever eaten! They are huge, clearly made fresh, and stuffed with filling! The guy behind the counter was awesome! He told us about their chicken (free of injections) and how they wanted to stay true to authentic Thai food - fresh and flavorful. He gave us samples of the Aloe water and a slice of the banana bread... Both were delicious!!!! This guy knows how to make a repeat customer - we will definitely be back!

The food is five stars. The ownership and cleanliness are five stars. However, the wait is unbearable. You almost need to order two hours in advance. I love the food, but you will not fit an order here into an hour lunch unless you place it 45 minutes before you go. If they were faster, I would be there twice a week. Sweet and spicy chicken is phenomenal and fried rice is good. I also like the Tom kha guy soup. On top of the long ticket times, serving on stryfoam does the food a major disservice and ruins the experience.

Way over priced and small portion sizes. Plus hair in my wife's pho. We won't be going back.

If you like Thai food you absolutely MUST try this place. I do not recommend places very often. Their food is outstanding and customer service is top notch. This is not like most Asian restaurants, it is very clean and current with the times. Even the bathroom is immaculate with touch-less waste baskets, touch-less paper towel dispenser and gorgeous tile work. I just had the the beef chili and basil the other day, courtesy of my brother. This is my favorite dish. Just mouthwatering. The heat scale is a one to five and I usually get a three which is borderline too hot for me. One thing you need to try is a sticky rice and mango desert. It has a sweet coconut custard sauce on it that you just cannot pass up. Better get one to go as well. Give them a like on Facebook and check them out. You will not regret it. facebook.com/sweetiethai

This place is amazing! I am a food guy and have been all through the resturants in the area and this place comes out on top. Everything here is great and the owners are very nice and treat you like family. The place is super clean and everything is very fresh. Call in your order ahead of time because it takes a little longer to make becuase everything is from scratch. My favorites are Curry Beef and the beef with broccoli. Great food!

Have eaten dine in, and take out. This is some of the best Thai food I've EVER had. I have tried many places through the US. I wrote out an extremely long review and it accidentally got deleted, so I am just going to say that if you have not tried sweetie thai you NEED TO TRY THEM :) Oh they are extremely friendly and casual, CLEAN, well priced and exactly what you'd want if your not looking for fine dining atmosphere, but the taste of fine dining. Ps- he also informed me they use purified water...pretty cool! Here is a link to the video of the youngest member of the staff singing ;) ; youtube.com/watch?v=mKvQ…

I was having dinner with my boyfriend and we decided on Thai food. I'm not from the area so I've never had Thai here, and he never had Thai period. When we went inside to order the guy placing our order was very patient and great with recommendations. I've learned that it's always hit or miss with Thai restaurants, but this place is at the top of my list. There was plenty of food, great and fast service, free refills on fountain drinks, and the place is VERY CLEAN which is difficult to find in a lot of Asian cuisine restaurants. Spice level goes on a scale of 1-5 and 3 still had a kick. I will definitely come here again when I'm in the area. Oh, and apparently they also deliver.

My opinion has obviously changed since my first review. I've since been many times and it's been consistently great. The staff are amazing, so sweet and friendly. Everything is always incredibly fresh. I dig the pho and chicken tom yum gai. They even deliver!! One night when they were running behind they called to let me know it would longer than they initially told me and asked if that was still ok, with many apologies. Such a gem. Try them out!

The spring rolls and crab cheese are very good and the Thai desserts are unique and good. Wait for the food can be very long- I suggest takeout and give them more time than they quote you. Several times I have been there and they have been out of crab rangoons, which seem like they'd be a pretty staple item. I haven't been super impressed with the entrees. Pad Thai and fried rice are bland/too sweet. The beef salad was much too spicy for me with no ability to adjust spice level as it was already made. The BBQ chicken was very good. I appreciate the late hours and convenience but the owner/manager is a bit pushy. The teenage boy who usually takes orders and works the register is nice but is easily distracted. The place is very clean and has quite a lot of seating which has a kind of fast food feel. All in all it's a good addition to this end of 28th Street but I prefer Bangkok View down the street for consistency.

I have became a regular here because of the very friendly service. This is a very clean and nice environment to eat in. Unlike most Asian restaurants this one is very youthful and new. I mostly get the fried rice ball salad because it is packed with all kinda of flavors and is light on the stomach so you don't feel so bloated after eating. They give you a good portion of food too. I like everything about this place, but I feel the prices are too high.

To start off, the place is super clean and the family that works here is incredibly friendly and welcoming. I used to go to a Thai place in Chicago that is known for their wings, and Sweetie Thai's wings are on par with those, which is pretty impressive. While I was waiting on some Pho one day, the owner came out and asked me if I wanted to try the fried rice ball salad - delicious! He definitely made a repeat customer out of me with that move. I'm not sure I would have ever ordered it otherwise. Can't wait to try the spicy beef salad next!

Great Food!! Someone had recommended it me and I'm so glad they did! The ingredients are fresh and flavourful and the service was great. I had the sweet and spicy chicken (dinner portion) and spring rolls, I'll be getting it again!

This place has amazing food. The people are very helpful but quit rude on the phone. We always get yellow curry, chicken tacos and a ton of spring rolls. Everything is made fresh to order, and I can't get enough. They have different ratings of how spicy you want your food. It's 1-5. We love spicy food and heat level 2 of plenty happy for us. The taco shells are to fire for. They're a mirror pricy, but trust me, you get what you pay for: fresh, hot delicious food that'll make you keep coming back for more. I would defiantly say get it delivered or pick it up. Its really boring in the restaurant and feels quite akward sitting in there.

If you like Thai food, this is a must! I am a snob for good food and have my favorites in Chicago, but this place makes all of those places look like fast food! Everything is made with fresh ingredients and love. Yes, you can taste the love and effort they put into their cooking. Not to mention, the owners were extremely gracious and welcomed us with open arms. I look forward to many future meals here!

My 2nd time eating Thai. Take out. I only tried the pad thai chicken, spring rolls and the crab rangoon. I'm not ready to venture out. I shouldn't have added the cilantro to the dish, it was fresh cilantro... it was strong cilantro, I wasn't ready for the overpowering taste of it. Not their fault, I'll have to make it a point to try it again sans cilantro. The crab rangoon was the absolutely darling to look at. I mean, we're all use to CR looking like potpourri sachets, but Sweetie's... I mean, why isn't everybody making their CR like this?! For my 2nd time eating Thai, this place insured I keep it on my "Go-To" list. The gentleman who was working the counter was THE most helpful, THE most friendly, THE most informative person I've met in this city, he really made my day. The restaurant looks more like an ice cream shop, but it was immaculately clean. I thought the rotating digital menu was the cutest thing ever. I can't wait to go back...and try something new. Only 4 stars because I haven't tried something new... stay tuned.

Around the corner from where we lived, we came across a little gem. The place is always clean and has a very appealing look. Worth a shot!

Straight away the crab rangoons are the best around!! super delicious with a unique dipping sauce which is very liquidy but very tasty. I've ordered the coconut chicken soup numerous times also delicious. lettuce wraps are really good. fresh lettuce, very crispy! Probably the only downside to sweetie is sometimes the food takes some time to prepare, but it's well worth the wait! Thanks sweetie for some of the best thai i've ever had! :)

Seriously the best thai food I have had in Grand Rapids! Jason is incredible and his daughter even came out and sang us a Ke$ha song. She's six and killed it! The good was literally amazing. Also, they just added a smoothie bar with all fresh ingredients. Try one!

We love Thai food and have a place right next to us that is good but Sweetie Thai has won us over, will definitely go back. Thanks Sweetie Thai for a wonderful experience!

I would consider Sweetie Thai the Detroit Redwings of Thai food, being that they are the best, and only chumps would argue that statement. The crab rangoons are unlike any I have ever experienced. Beware however, once you eat here you will never want to go to any other Thai restaurant, ever...

The food is really good and there is a great variety of dishes. Everything I've tried has been delicious and is visually appealing. The owner is very friendly and sells his products well. The only "downside" is their #5 hot spice is too mild for my taste but it's good enough for most.

Works in a pinch when our favorite Thai restaurant is closed on Sunday. The owners/operators are great folks.

Everything about this place was great. Very friendly service and excellent food. Definitely try the crab rangoons--they're a little bit of an up charge, but totally worth it.
