Over priced for what it is . What it is is simple food and lots of it. I went on a Saturday night around 7 o'clock and the place was packed, The food was just okay, the first piece of steak I had turned out to be all gristle. A second piece was alright, nothing special. The desserts were tasty, but over all at nearly $12 dollars you'd do better going next door to Big Boy.

I find it humorous that people will give this place a one star rating because it wasn't a first class meal. Of course it's not! It's a buffet! So my rating is based upon other buffets that I have been to throughout my life. The overall price for what you get is reasonable; around $8 for an adult. We went on kids night, so the kids got in for $1.99. Can't really complain about that. By far the best part of the buffet, in my mind, was the taco buffet and the salad buffet. They were both heavily stocked and had great selections. The pico de gallo was fresh and had a great flavor to it, also the taco shell bowls were light and crispy, they were actually some of the best taco shell bowls I've had in a while. The rest of the dishes consisted of the great American staples: Mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, meatloaf, fried/baked chicken, yeast rolls, baked fish, chicken tenders, tator-tots.... The list goes on and on. I'm not big on desserts, but my children showed me a wide selection of goodies that they chose to partake in, including a slurped machine, which my oldest had to be cut-off from. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating to the 30 children running around the restaurant, remember, it was kids night. While I have acquired a more sophisticated pallet over the years thanks to Yelp, it's nice to go back and remember from where you came from and breath in the nostalgia.

Husband and I were in the mood for a buffet that wasn't "oriental fare based" - and since we were in Grand Rapids, chose to dine at the 28th street / Wyoming location. We are not usually fussy about decor and personalities of employees, knowing everyone has an "off day", but - compound that with several of the buffet choices being "empty" (pans still on display, all food gone, and by the "crust" it has been there a while - we figured this was going to be one of those meals.... and it was. The food was mediocre - the employees who were visible were mostly chatting with each other and a few of the "wait staff" were busy on their phones. Since this was our "supper", we did go back for seconds and tried other entrees and the dessert offerings. Once again, mediocre. Husband joked - "Even if we did have a BOGO coupon, it would not have been worth it"... and he was right. The carpet needed sweeping for food crumbs and such from other patrons was scattered about. I try not to be too negative, but on the other hand, you asked for a reply and I am giving it to you. This is one location Upper Management should drop in on and act like a customer. My guess is if you didn't have a vested interest in the company, you would not return to this location - ever.

Unless you never go out to eat or want variety...nevermind, there should NEVER be an excuse to eat here. Also known as "OCB", this buffet has been very consistent at giving me gut-rot after each visit. The buffet selection is large, and that is probably the only redeeming quality of this buffet. The food tastes like it was prepared yesterday and ingredients purchased at the Dollar Store. No offense to anyone who does frequents the local OCB weekly, but do yourself a favor and don't eat there. And the same goes for those thinking about it.

I'd eaten here about 2 years ago with my sister and this was a favorite place to eat when she was in Grand Rapids. On that first visit I wasn't nearly as impressed as she was, but it was decent food that was not anything to either get excited about or talk badly about. We stopped in a couple days ago and it was a complete and utter waste of our time and money. On our visit there was a water leak in the ceiling (it was a very rainy day) and they had several ceiling tiles removed and a 5 gallon bucket collecting the water that was steadily dripping down onto the table below it. OK, they can't control the weather and sometimes roofs do develop leaks, but it sure gave a bad first impression. The next big red flag was that the selection of food was not nearly as good as the last time I'd eaten there. The biggest red flag was the food flavors. There are so many things I could describe about the food, but in the interest of keeping this from turning into a book I'll limit myself to commenting on just a couple of the items. On their Mexican food bar area they had tortillas that were so tough and rubbery that they were very hard to chew and get swallowed which is a problem I've never experienced anywhere before and I'm 51 years old so I've eaten my share of tortillas. They had glazed baby carrots which is a favorite of mine, but they had been sitting in heat for so long that they were very mushy and had no texture and very little flavor. My sister who used to be this place's biggest fan was so unhappy that she actually had the manager come out so she could tell him how disappointed she was and that this would be the last time she would ever eat here and explained to him in detail why. She made sure to word it in a way that was not attacking him personally, but being truthful so if they wanted they could have some good meaningful feedback on areas where they'd let their standards fall and could use improvement. The manager tried to convince her that they did still in fact have the same great selection they used to have but were just displaying it in a way that made it look like less (hmm, would any buffet really do that? I think not) and that the food quality was still the same high standards as they'd always had. Again, I say I nope I'm believing that. While my sister was talking to the manager the lady sitting in the booth behind me came back and told her dining partner that my sister was complaining to the manager about the food and then she immediately added that she certainly couldn't blame her for doing it since the food was not very good which confirms that it is not just us that thought we'd wasted our money coming here. Oh, I just remembered another big red flag. On their desert bar their ice cream machine was broken and out of service. Yes, machines break, but combine that with the roof leaking onto tables and it looks really bad. Neither my sister nor I will be returning to OCB and I would suggest others stay away from it too. You really will get better food at a cheaper price at any fast food joint. I don't see this store as staying open much longer at the rate it's declining unless the company takes profits from other stores to prop this one up and keep it from closing for good. There were very few people in the restaurant compared to the other time I'd eaten there at lunch time so that's even more proof that things at this restaurant on the decline.
