Very good food. My husband got the tostadas and I got the chimichangas. Food was hot and came out fast even though it was Friday night at 6pm and it was full and people waiting to be seated. The server could have been a little bit more attentive but it was decent. Prices were $7-8 per entree and you get rice and beans. As of 2/1/12, they will start charging 50 cents for each additional chips or salsa that you want past the one serving they give you. I feel there are other ways to recoup the cost instead of doing that. Overall, good experience and we'd come here again.

Just tried this place tonight. Service was pleasant and competent. The flaming cheese was great. Like the old Pancho's flaming cheese before they wimped it out. The mild salsa was great. Not a fan of hot salsa's but my dining companions said it was good. The entrees were a bit on the small side in comparison to other local mexican restaurants. However, having said that the food was really good. The beans were a nice creamy neutral background, the rice was very good. Delicate with a hint of spice. One thing marred the dining experience but not for us. One of the waitresses dropped salsa on a customer and barely got a sincere "sorry". They really should have been much more sincere and apologetic.

Great Food...Great Prices! The salsa is phenominal...so is the guacamole. Excellent Service. I sure wish they served margaritas or Sangria!

Seriously some of the best Mexican I've had outside of Mexicantown. The chile relleno is SO FRIGGING GOOD. Perfectly fried and crisp, cheesy and oh so tasty. The refried beans are creamy and well seasoned. The salsa is always very fresh and not overly watery like some places. Pricing is very reasonable, oh and they have one of my favorite things for cooling off on a hot summer day or even just after a long day, horchata. Its a traditional mexican drink made with rice, milk, vanilla and cinnamon. It is also perfect for cooling your mouth down after eating spicy food.

My husband, daughter and I eat here often. The salsa is always fresh and the refried beans are delicious. Sometimes it's a little crowded because its small but it is worth the wait.

One of my usual Mexican places. Nice (though small) location in the middle of Downtown Wyandotte, right next to The Grind. They have a decent amount of vegetarian options in the form of bean enchiladas and the like, which are great. I like that they have some good hot sauce at the tables too - I like spicy food, it's nice to add a bit in. Pretty cheap, too.

This place is great. It just opened and we decided to try it. Best Mexican food in the downriver area in my humble opinion. The prices are very reasonable, and the portions are good, but not huge. I tried the Mexican sandwich, the mango chicken, and the skirt steak (sorry, I forgot what the menu name was). All three were fantastic. The house made mild and hot salsa are very good and the guacamole was really good as well. They have the Mexican sugar based Coca-Cola in bottles and other Mexican soda-pop as well. Service was pretty good, and the food was out within 5 minutes. Please give this place a shot, you won't be disappointed.

Angelina's is a small unassuming Mexican place in downtown Wyandotte. It tries hard, and succeeds every time for us. The dining room is brightly painted with lots of natural light from the storefront windows and one solidly mirrored wall. The menu is large, unassuming and uncomplicated--all of the items and combos have descriptions to help you decide. There is a kids menu also, with both mexican and american fare. The service here is awesome, and even though all diners seat themselves, the wait staff is on top of it and never had we had to sit more than a minute before we are greeted. I love the Panchitos here, the husband enjoys the Mango Chicken and the California burrito. The food is very fresh and nicely presented, and it comes out quickly. There is no bar here, so no margaritas can be had. No televisions, but the noise level of the room is quiet to middling, if there are children present. The dining room is rather small, and if you have a very large party, you may want to call ahead to see if they can accomodate you. You get one basket of chips and one small bowl of salsa, your choice, mild or hot. Extra chips or salsa are $.50 per item. You will do well here if you are taking a break from walking and shopping in Downtown Wyandotte. Bring your family with you, they will love you for it.

Buenos Dias, Not only is this the best Mexican food in town but it also has the best horchata juice ever!

I want to stress that just because I gave this place three stars does not mean it is a bad place to dine. I have been here numerous times and I do have to say it is the best Mexican in the area besides the unfortunate fact they do not sell alcohol, so sorry no margaritas :( . The inside is small and usually there is only a server or two on the floor. The chips they serve are so-so but the salsa's are very good (one mild one hot). It isn't unlimited chips and salsa, which I think is a Mexican restaurant no-no. I have ordered the chimichangas, enchiladas, and most recently the ground beef taco salad. The chimichanags and enchiladas are very good. The meat isn't dry and the portions are generous. The rice is flavorful and the beans are good. The taco salad I was impressed with. I have had taco salads a million different places, but at Angelina's they do a good job of not skipping out on a variety of toppings. Angelina's salad included green peppers, avocado and refried beans as well as the usual lettuce, meat, tomatoes, black olives and green onions. The service is generally pretty quick and their food is consistent. It wouldn't be my choice for a night out, but I would say it's a great lunch spot or quick weekday dinner out.

The service is GREAT! But the food not so good. I had the combination plate. None of it was anything special it was all stuff I could have made better myself. The beans and the enchilada sauce tasted like they were from a can and they used wayyyy too much cheese that had a strange, not so good flavor to it.

This is the best mexican food outside of Mexican Town in Detroit. The food is great, guacamole is awesome, and the salsa is perfect.

I will start of by saying this has been historically one of my favorite Mexican places. We went today... eh. Service was wonderful as always but the place has seen better days. I love their salsa but apparently they have to charge fifty cents for refills which is unique to their restaurant. Most other places just give you refills... it's not like you're going to sit around gorging yourself on chips and salsa. They could at minimum offer a bigger basket if they're going to charge for it. I got a chicken fajita and although they are always on the greasy side... the grease was running down my arm from my tortilla. It was a significant amount of grease. The beans and rice taste like they made them from a can / Uncle Ben's packets. I dunno what to say. I wasn't impressed. For a $15 / plate place I expect better.

Worst delivery service & worst management. Daughter ordered food for lunch at school, driver showed, sat in car on cell for 10 minutes. She got cold food & made her late then got accused of not paying when she confronted driver of over charging her. Called manager & he was of no use then copped an attitude. Never again will we eat there. Besides, Camino Real has better food.

Food was the standard mexican fare... One item that irked me was the charge for extra chips and salsa. Are your profit margains really that low?

Not all that impressed with this place. The portions are small and the prices are high for what you get. The food is ok. Nothing to write home about. The salsa they serve with their chips is pretty generic.

  • Carol S.

We've eaten here several times, and always enjoyed the food. But something must have happened, because this last visit had generic and poorly prepared fish tacos and wait staff that just wanted to sit and visit instead of taking care of business.

The service is is great! Food has been consistently good every time I've come. My only complaint is the 50 cent extra charge on my salsa and chips, my bill is usually around $30 dollars I feel like that's a lot of money and to charge me extra for salsa is a bit much . I also like that this place is very clean and the portions are not huge so you don't gorge .

My husband and I tried Angelina's today for the first time. We went for lunch and they were relatively busy, which is always a good sign! Even though the volume of customers was high, we were still greeted by the waitress and a hot basket of tortilla chips! Yum! The chips were served with a hot and mild sauce. The salsa was fresh, with visible pieces of chopped onion, cilantro, and tomatoes. Some Mexican restaurants blend it all into tomato water...not the case at Angelina's! The mild was my favorite, the hot was also good but it had a bit of a kick to it that interrupted my feasting. I ordered off of the lunch special list and had the beef tacos. The lunch options come with 2 tacos where dinner comes with 3, but it still has rice and beans as a side. Lunch special was the perfect portion and was absolutely delicious! Heads up, you have to pay extra for cheese and sour cream, but that is standard at most Mexican restaurants. Unusually, they do charge for your second round of chips and salsa. We managed to make it last and had salsa for our entrees, but if I had to I would pay for the second round. The hot chips and deliciously fresh salsa are worth it.

The food is fresh and tasty but the service was pretty slow considering the place was only about 1/3 full. I had shrimp tacos which were very good. Fresh shrimp and pico are folded into flour tortillas then the whole thing is deep fried! Just be careful because the juices inside are boiling hot so they take a while to eat. I thought the portions of rice and beans were a little too small, I wanted more.

This charming little place is tucked away in a store front on the main drag. The inside is brightly decorated without being overpowering. Chips and salsa was delightful. The chips were crisp and light. The salsas were fresh, but the hot had alot of kick. So if you are not accustomed to caliente stay with the mild. The guac was equally good. My enchiladas were supreme. The chicken was made with white meat. The beef I think was ground round. Topped with a just right spiced sauce and just enough cheese but not too much to take away the flavors. The refried beans were creamy. Rice was ok. The hubbs stated his tostado and taco were some of the best he has ever had. Dessert was fried ice cream and it gives my fav Los Galanes a run for their money. The coffee was the real surprise. It is brewed with cinnamon sticks added.Yum! No alcohol is served here! The staff is smiling, friendly and helpful. Many return trips here!

The service is good but I am a Type 1 Diabetic and have blood sugars that are under control between 70-120 all day every day. I ate at Angelina's and battled for a day to bring down my blood sugar. I do not know what they do to their food but something instantly sent my blood sugar to rise 15 minutes after eating 3 soft chicken tacos. It is 12 hours later and I am still battling higher level indicating they use a lot of fat in their food.

Angelina's gets it right ... every time! I am a stickler for Mexican food and this exceeds my expectations. I rarely eat the rice that is traditionally served - but here - I can eat a whole plate of it. I actually crave the rice! I love having this gem right in our neighborhood.

We went there because we were looking at furniture next door and thought we'd get a bite to eat. The menu was posted in the window and we remember seeing it nonce before but it was late and it was closed so now seemed like a great idea to give it a try with a light meal. We noticed the bright colors and how clean the place was as soon as we walked in and was greeted quickly by a staff person who brought us chips and salsa.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
