always having HORRIBLE customer service here: dine in and carry out. For carry out, the order always hsa something missing (ie: pancakes, toast, etc) When dining in, tables sat after us are served by the same server before we're acknowledged. The running joke with Michael Roman that it's got to be since I'm Asian and we're in this little town of Whitmore Lake. Today's example: online menu describes a breakfast combination with no meal name. Tried explaining to girl that answered the phone and she tries to order me Corned Beef combo. After five minutes of reading word for word the menu item, she finally understands what I want. Mike goes to pick it up, pays for it and she turns her back on him and goes back to filling candy canes, never handing him the bag of our paid food. He goes behind the counter and grabs it himself. I call the manager/owner to complain and I get this "tone" in his voice as he tries to correct me and gives me attitude. I straight up had to tell him that he was giving me attitude and I wasn't appreciating it. Really?! So, he says, well, if this happens with "every" one of your orders, maybe whoever is picking up the order should check it before leaving. Really?! Because my husband works for you? No, your under 18 year old girls work for you. That is their job. If they don't their job, it falls on you as the manager/owner. Not a happy camper and I refuse to give this restaurant any more of my money. He asks me, what do you want me to do? I said I'm not driving back up there for missing toast, why don't you, as the manager, write a note behind the bar that next time my husband and I are in, something needs to be done about our bill for all our issues and troubles. I have to tell you how to fix this? Again, I'm not the owner/manager, you are. Here's another solution: stop hiring young girls who don't have any work ethics or sense of responsibility OR make sure they are properly trained to do their jobs.

I have tried every Restaurant/bar in the Whitmore lake area and nothing has impressed me to any extreme until now. The Whitmore Lake Tavern is surprisingly excellent. It's a small town style bar restaurant with a beautiful location overseeing the water. They provide a very peaceful environment to sit down and eat. After passing on their ribs and steak the first few times and going with the fish sandwich and corned beef Reuben which are both the awesome, I decided to give the ribs and steak a chance. To say the least I was not dissapointed. The service is what tops it off. They are all very friendly especially Linda (I could be wrong on the name). All I know is I will be going back often.

Average food, average service. Good place for groups! large parking area, nice place to just stop and grab a cold beer, when your on the harley! Otherwise, wouldn't drive my car, out of the way to eat their!

I've been to Whitmore Lake Tavern quite a few times, and it has been consistently good. The food is pretty standard as far as bar fare goes, but I haven't ever had anything there I didn't like. The pizza is tasty and they keep the Parmesan in the fridge when it's not in use. The service is great overall -- the people are really friendly. They have stayed open late to feed us, and when we rode our motorcycles out and got caught in the rain they suggested we park them under the awning to keep them dry. Prices are reasonable too. Overall, it's a favorite local spot.

Having fled from nearby Zukey Lake Tavern after a terrible experience I had really low expectations and still needed to eat. My goal was outside grub and a view of water. Already in a sour mood the outside appearance of the tavern didn't really fill me with too much hope. I was wonderfully surprised however. The inside isn't divey but not really fancy either. The outdoor deck isn't much bigger than what some homes might have, but it makes for a more intimate experience with better views of the lake. Far better IMHO than the Costco on a roof next to a lake vibe at Zukey anyways. My mood took a great jump up when I ordered a great on tap 22 oz beer at a decent price and my friend ordered a delicious bloody Mary. Two great drinks at decent prices had already exponentially bested the experience I had jest fled from. I ordered a Polish sausage special and my friend got a fish dinner. First off they were happy to substitute the soup that came with the meal for a dinner salad. A simple matter but it's nice when a place doesn't act like you asked for a side of filet mignon instead of fries when you ask for a simple lateral substitution. My meal was excellent, seriously the most happy I've been with a meal in ages. There was a very healthy portion of sausage and it was cooked to perfection with the edges all crispy. It was accompanied by a terrific red skin potato salad that was obviously homemade. The really excellent final touch of this meal was the bowl of fresh fruit that accompanied it, the perfect thing to balance off the heavy sausage and potato salad. The fruit bowl had perfectly ripened strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew and blackberries. Who does this at a little bar on a lake? It was great and I wish I knew how to buy honeydew that sweet and delicious on my own! All this for $9. NINE BUCKS!!! A fantastic well balanced high quality meal for almost the same price as one pisspoor excuse of a drink at Zukey Lake Tavern (can you tell I am holding a grudge). My friends fish dinner was well prepared as well. This exactly scratched my itch for what I wanted to do. Eat some good food and drink at decent price outside and watch the lake, the people, and cars leisurely stroll by.

Ordered the jalapeño catfish and thought it was great. My side was squash which also tasted wonderful. Only complaint was too much liquid on the squash which ran all over the plate and made the fish breaking soggy. Easily rectified by tilting the plate but, certainly something that could be improved. Always a good time here.

Great walleye, nice atmosphere. Will say that food is inconsistent. Sometimes fish and chips are great others not so much. Great place in summer have a beer none the less.

Really really good. The tavern burger is a great meal. I get the fish and chips all the time it's awesome. Nice view of the lake. Good spot for beer during the ice hockey classic. It is a dive bar but the menu is huge and the food is really good.

This is a rustic places with a view of Whitmore Lake. This is also the type of place where you pick up the menu and immediately know the best thing is probably the perch sandwich and not the Thai salad. We all got the perch sandwiches which were very good and large. Service was friendly and food arrived quickly.

Was boating all day and came here to get a bite to eat. The beer was cold, the pizza was very good and I am a pizza snob. It was good!! It is exactly what you want right off of a lake.

My opinion is, if you're in Whitmore lake, Brown bag it. Don't waste your money here. Ordered a chicken Mexican dish and apparently the "cook" put a spin on it. The (once packaged and frozen) burritos were served with French fries and the whole plate was smothered in canned hot dog chilli sauce. Hmmm... I don't eat beef! That's why I ordered chicken! And, why would anyone want hot dog chilli on a burrito? I would've been more satisfied with a bowl of cornflakes. Come on people!

The food is good overall, but can be hit or miss, depending on what you get. I like the Coconut Shrimp, the Jambalaya, and the Quesadillas and Burritos (they do put coney chili on it, just fyi). I did not care for the Ribs or Pasta I ordered (the ribs were baked & the pasta was bland). The service was good as well. I would go back for the good items.

Passing through the area. Picked up a couple of pizzas to go. Looked & tasted like the were using the cheapest ingredients that they could get their hands on. I've had better frozen pizza. Sucked. Bad. Nasty.

We visit the Tavern on a regular basis. The food is good and the service is nice as well. I think we have visited for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and have had very good meals for all. Our current favorite is the Perfect Pizza with a pitcher of Oberon. Can't beat a large pizza and a pitcher of beer for $25. During the summer months the patio area is very nice to enjoy a few beers and catch some rays. The view of the lake isn't fantastic as you are across the road but you can still see boaters out there so the lakeside vibe is still there. We moved to Whitmore Lake this past winter and have definitely seen a big jump in business since the weather warmed up. Don't be surprised if you visit in the winter and you're the only group in the place. In comparison to the other local options the Whitmore Lake Tavern is our "go to" choice.

Honestly, we order out from here at least once a week; their salads are ALWAYS so fresh (*cough* unlike Captain Joe's *cough*). I don't remember ever ordering anything here and being disappointed. It's not 5-star holy amazingness; but it's definitely the best place to eat if you're in Whitmore Lake.

I have been coming to WL Tavern for years and can say I haven't once had a bad meal here... The food is tasty, plentiful and of great variety! Way to go, WL Tavern!

We had a random explore Michigan kind of afternoon and wound up at beautiful and large Whitmore Lake. The Tavern looks quite divey from the outside, and kind of lives up to that look on the inside, but I really enjoyed myself! They have great prices on drinks-- $8 for a pitcher of Bud Light and had a 1/2 apps deal going since there was a football game on. We took advantage of the deal and ordered spinach and artichoke dip and it was really impressive. It came with tri-colored tortilla chips that were super tasty and the serving size of the dip was insanely huge. And very very yummy! Our burgers were thoroughly average. I wish we hadn't gotten them "deluxe" (+cole slaw and fries) because the dip was more than enough food! The fries are the crinkle cut ones that I don't like so I ate about 3 of them, thus demonstrating a rare feat of not eating every single thing on my plate :) The view is beautiful, the drinks are cheap, and the apps were half off. What's not to like? :)

I love coming to the Whitmore Lake Tavern every time I am in town. Great Pizza and the best potato skins you have ever had. The patio is nice on a hot summer day to have a few beers while enjoying the view. Friendly staff and great owners.

I love this place. I've lived in the area for 14 years and this is "our Cheers". Very nice and friendly owners & staff. Fantastic view over looking the lake. We enjoy watching the sailboats in the summer time and ice fishing in the winter. On one wall they have pictures of all the iconic rock musicians. Just a great, very casual, nothing fancy fun place. When we have out of town guests, they ALWAYS want to return the "The Tavern" for some of the greatest pizza in the world. Good stuff. The menu is what you would expect. Burgers, sandwiches, dinners, it's all good. They added a deck a few years ago.

Some of the food was very good. Some was just okay. The atmosphere is classic old school Michigan. Not a big place but I loved the atmosphere. Great staff and owner was very nice as well.

Came here twice. Food is just OK. The owners are great and the bar could be fun on a nice day. The lake perch was deep fried too much, the whitefish was too mushy. Ribs are great and the filet was excellant.
