Here is a Very Mixed Review You should not walk away hungry. The bread is very good, while the bread sticks had a bitter taste (I love good bread sticks). Dinners include antipasto for the table which is not the classic antipasto, but still very nice. Second is a nice salad, followed by a minestrone soup which was just OK, but definitely not classic minestrone. The pasta is offered with a variety of sauces. I tried the Bolognese, which was mediocre at best, and also tasted the marinara, which lacked any excitement. Chicken Saltimbocca was overcooked and served with a sauce that was just too watery and weak on flavor. Also on the plate was ordinary mashed potatoes, and ice cold green beans. My wife had Chicken Marsala, which had similar problems to my chicken. There were 9 of us, and the only raves were for the Filet and the Veal chop. While I give this restaurant an OK, I wouldn't rush back.

Went here with a few of my friends. Hung out at the bar while waiting for the table. The bartenders service was great, and loved the wine selection. I had the linguine with clams and some white sauce, it was really good. The appetizers before where also amazing, the minestrone is my favorite. Will definetly be back.

Sposita's had been on my radar for a while, so I was excited to see a Groupon come through. Rules showed a couple $$$ items not included with the deal (like surf and turf), but once we were seated, they added a couple more $$ items (the largest Filet, for example). I know I'm getting a deal, but JOP. Highs: perfectly cooked Filet - crispy char outside, red inside. Damn delicious Zip sauce served with the steak. Damn delicious. I asked for more (you should do the same). Yummy mashed potatoes. Thick, creamy Minestrone. I don't always like Minestrone, but this was good. Mids: enjoyed the concept of the Veal Trio, but execution was messy, with sauces mixing. Good salad. OK antipasto platter (but the carrot and celery sticks have no place on this plate). Lows: bar-like interior is NOT what I was expecting when I think 'old-school Italian steakhouse'. We dressed like we were going to a place where we'd spend $100+ on dinner, and we were surrounded by people in tank tops, shorts and ball caps. I know this is the direction we're heading as a society, and I sound like a fud, but I was hoping for more.

This is a local place that has good food, but my steak had no taste on this trip. You have to add the zip sauce. I I didn't want to add the zip sauce. I want my steak to have flavor. My wife had a steak also and it was the same. we have eaten here a few times and this one was a little different. The staff is outstanding. Loved the service. Like the place, just we had a meal with not a lot of flavor. We will be back, we think it was an off night.

The service was nice and prompt. They move you through the courses quite quickly. The antipasta platter is different and nothing to get excited over. 2 shrimp, 2 mozzarella sticks, a slice of pepperoni , olives, carrots and celery. The house salad was sooooo salty I couldn't eat it. The minestrone soup was meh... The chicken Marsala was good but not $22 spectacular. This is my go to dish and have had it many times , this wasn't as good as I've had previously. The bread was yummy. Yes, you get a lot of extra food , but that extra food wasn't great. Oh you do get a side of pasta w/.entree again ok but not delicious

We initially went on a Friday with a groupon. We hadn't read the fine print that it was only good for Sunday through Thursday. The table next to us apparently did the same thing. The waitress had a fit. Said we could use it for face value or come back. She didn't even wait til we left to throw her hands in the air and complain to hostess that now she wasn't going to make any money and should've stayed home! But we did come back and our waiter, Gary, couldn't have been more delightful. The chicken francaise was delicious as was the house salad and minestrone soup. We left wanting to try it again. Just hope we don't get that one waitress:(

Its been a couple of years since we have eaten here, only because we forgot how good they are. So we went last night for a B-Day dinner. We all had the filet with zip sauce, it was great. Steaks cooked perfect, mashed potatoes and green bean all prepared to perfection. My wife likes the fact this is an old school Italian multiple course dinner. The soup,salad and pasta all taste homemade. The antipasti is a nice touch too. I must say the service was the star that night, Max was our waiter and he was top notch. We sat close to the door and on a Saturday night it became quite crowded, this in turn lead to people slowly encroaching on our table area. When Max saw this he, he set up a serving tray next to our table to keep waiting customers from getting to close. Just a great waiter, funny and very pleasant, and we never had to look for him, if we needed something he was on top of it. Yes this place is worth going to, great food nice remolded look. Great job Spositas! I will be back soon. My review would actually be a 4.5 star if it was an option.

4.5 to be exact... The ambiance is really great inside this place. The walls of their bar/dining room are covered with photos of celebrities, athletes and singers that have dined here. The menu was simple and straight-forward so my hubby and I decided in no time of what we would have for dinner. I ordered the Salmon Pasta in a 'light' cream sauce and he ordered the Seafood Pasta with garlic and oil (clams, shrimps, scallops, crab). Our entrees also came with a salad (has a light version of Italian dressing on it), minestrone soup (creamy and yummy!) and an antipasto plate which included shrimp cocktail, olives, salami, sweet pickles, mozzarella, carrot and celery sticks with cocktail sauce...oh and don't forget about the bread basket!! Make sure you have a strategy planned out b/c you can definitely get full on all of the above so only eat half of everything!! Our pastas came out and my piece of salmon was huge and my pasta was drowning in a sea of alfredo sauce. I tried scraping off the excess sauce with my fork and spoon so next time I will definitely ask for light sauce. The pasta was cooked al dente and my salmon was cooked just right! My hubby's pasta was on point and the clam flavor really came out! The thing that completed our night was the service. Everyone was very nice and the timing of the food couldn't have been any better!! Great find...will be coming back here again!!!

Sposita's is my go-to for a good filet, pasta, minestrone soup, and salad. My family are good friends with the owners, my dad played hockey with one of the sons when they were kids. I think for all you get with the filet dinner, the price is reasonable. My favorite sauce is the palmenia, but a customer favorite is the meat sauce. The minestrone is so awesome it will ruin minestrone at other places for you! Oh - and the zip sauce on the filet is great too, we usually ask for extra.

From the moment you walk through the door, the friendly service begins and continues until you leave. The courses come out in a non rushed manner with constant attention to your enjoyment of ea course. Our waiter was very helpful by providing meal suggestions. I wasn't a fan of the meat sauce and felt the veal was a bit dry. But the flavor and portion sizes were good. The pasta tasted fresh and there was plenty for dinner and lunch the next day.

This place is not even deserving of a one star. We are talking negative status here. Went in on a Tuesday night at 8 pm with reservations for 4 people. The hostess seemed frazzled even though the place was not really busy. She just told us to grab a table in the bar area and flung the menus on the table. The waiter was actually very nice. We ordered a bottle of cheap Chianti because there wine prices were through the roof. They brought out a pre-appetizer of a couple olives, half slices of salami, peppercini's, carrots, celery and shrimp. There was also a cocktail sauce in the middle. You could smell that shrimp a mile away. FISHY!! Next came our Caprese salad that we shared for the table. Weakest Caprese I have ever seen. Who puts dried basil on a Caprese? Give me a break. If you can't serve this item with fresh basil, take it off the menu. Disgusting and no flavor at all. Next round was the house salads that came with each of our meals. Nothing special just a plain house salad with house dressing. I asked for ranch and they said it was a $2.00 extra charge. LOL-- you have got to be kidding me. Next out was something that was supposed to be minestrone soup. This comes with the meals and wow this was horrible. It was so salty and had a very strong flavor of capers. Last time I checked, capers were not the main ingredient in minestrone soup. Not one person at our table ate this. It was inedible. Next out was our actual meals. Lasagna, The veal marsala, the perch and angel hair pasta with spicy marinara and mushrooms added to it. Let me start out with the perch. The perch was in strips and fried. it was barely fried and almost raw. My mother in law could not eat it. She didn't want to say anything so she ended up paying for a meal that she didn't eat. Next up is the Veal Marsla. Very small portion for $39. First bite was so tough my father in law almost had to spit it out. He also did not finish his meal and was too nice to say anything. Next up is the BF's Lasagna. How can you screw this up? Well let me tell you, the BF loves lasagna and will normally eat anything. He took 2 bites and that was it. He asked me to taste it and I took 1 bite and almost puked. I could barely swallow it. It had the worst sour taste. It tasted like it was made last year. Totally inedible and very surprised we did not get food poisoning. He probably would have if he would have eaten more. Next up is my pasta with spicy marinara with mushrooms added to it. Worst overcooked pasta I have ever had. This pasta had zero flavor. It literally had no spices in it. It was horrible and also had big chunks of onion added to it. Not sure why they would add big chunks of onion. The BF and I both sent our food back. We could not eat it. The waiter was apologetic and said he would get the manager. The waiter came back a few minutes later and said the manager was to busy to come and talk to us. Are you kidding me?? What kind of manager is this? You obviously could care less about your patrons. They did take off our 2 meals but they should have comped our whole meal seeing that nobody could eat anything. This is a terrible restaurant, the worst meal I have had in Michigan. Not sure how you get so many 4 stars, you were probably in the back writing them last night and that's why you couldn't come to my table. Good luck staying in business serving dog food. Actually that is not fair to the dog food.

A lot of food; but, not seasoned to my taste. Dinner included antipasto plate to share, small salad, soup, bread, breadsticks, spaghetti with meat sauce and finally the entre with mashed potatoes and green beans. The meat sauce was heavily, overly seasoned with garlic and herbs. I skipped it after two bites. Had the veal trio (pick 3 veal from the menu). Sauces and cheese toppings were poorly seasoned, one with a bland tomato sauce, another with creamy mushroom sauce with too many herbs. Dinner for two with two glasses of house wine and tip was $112.

We arrived around 6:30 on a Friday and the place was busy, but not overly crowded. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The inside is a bit dated but overall sort of has a cozy feel. Our waiter had a good sense of humor and was attentive without hovering. First order of business: if you come to eat here, you do not need an appetizer. If you get one, or even share one, plan on taking a lot of food home from your entrée. We split the caprese salad was an appetizer which was good, but I would have liked it a little more with a balsamic reduction instead of just balsamic vinegar. Second, we got our salads. The "side" salad portion was very generous, with lots of toppings including chick peas. The dressing is sort of a zip sauce vinaigrette and is outrageously good. I actually ate some with a spoon (don't judge, you probably will too). Next we got minestrone soup. It is THE BEST minestrone I have ever had. I don't really even really like minestrone so I almost declined this course, but I could eat that version of it all day. The broth was thicker than I've had before and the flavor was in.cred.ible. At this point in the meal, my friend and I could barely move and were wondering where to put the food from the entrée that was still coming. But wait! We forgot about the antipasto platter. Ugh, the gluttony of it all. We asked for no meat, and our tray come with super crispy carrots and celery, some cheese slices, shrimp with cocktail sauce that had great flavor and texture, and olives. We should have stopped eating, but we couldn't. We kept justifying it as being okay because at this point, all we've really done is eat a bunch of vegetables... for the most part. Healthy gluttons! Right? Finally, the entrees came out. My friend ordered some steak tip pasta dish but subbed out the pasta for gnocchi. She said it was great. I got the tortellini with mushrooms and palomino sauce. The mushrooms added a great earthy flavor to the already tasty sauce and the tortellini were plentiful and delicious. I was worried my stomach might burst, so I only ate 4 tortellini and took the other 30 home. It made for great leftovers the next day (two more meals of leftovers, the portion was so large). All in all, this place made our girls night out full of laughs because of the sheer volume of the food included with the meal and made for a relaxing evening because the service was great. My only complaint is that on the way in and on the way out there were a number of kitchen staff outside a side door in the parking lot smoking. The valet was also smoking right next to the main door. It just seemed a bit odd to have that many staff standing around smoking where the customers walk in and out of the building/to their cars if they don't valet.

The Veal Chop is the best in Michigan. The best Italian food around. Never disappointed. Joe and Lois the best. John, Becky, Michelle and Mona know how to treat a guest. I could eat here every night. And they know how to pour a drink.

My wife and I ate here last Sunday night. It was my first time visiting the restaurant and also my last. Pros: 1 The food was ok. Cons: 1. There appeared to be only 2 waiters for the entire restaurant. 2. The waiters were so busy they would leave dirty pitchers and plates on random tables, including the one I was at. 3. From the time we ordered our food until the time we got our entree was almost 2 hours. 4. The place was so cold from insufficient heat that it was difficult to sit and wait for the 2 hours it took. 5. Waiters never came by in the 2 hour experience to refill drinks. 6. Sidewalks outside were so slippery from ice buildup that my wife nearly fell twice. This could have been easily avoided with some minimal attention to salt or cleaning. Overall: For the same type of food with much better service and dining experience i would definitely go to Andiamo's or Lelly's next time.

Dinner was absolutely fabulous! Hubby and I eat out often at nice places. Steak is always a favorite. The Filet Xtra cut was one of the best I ever had in town. The Zip Sauce only accentuated the Italian Style Prep with Panko Bread Crumbs. Oh so awesome. Steak perfectly cooked... which is rare in this area. Our server, Jason was great with suggestions. I can't wait to return.

Had a birthday celebration for a party of eight on Saturday. Made our reservation early (430 when they open) so we would not have any problems. Have dined here several times and with each visit the service gets a little bit worse. Well, Saturdays visit was very disappointing. First, the waiter had No and I do mean No personality. I told him we were celebrating two birthdays and all he said was ok. Never asked if I wanted a dessert for the birthday people, or even asked who they were to say happy birthday. One person in our group went through the entire meal and no one refilled his coke. In addition same person ordered a burger well done and it came out so pink he couldn't eat it. No apology upon sending it back. The rest of our food was very good, but the slow, uncaring service makes me give a two rating.

Old school all the way. If you value quantity over quality - Sposita's is for you. By the time your entree arrives, they've already served you an antipasto tray, a tasty creamy minestrone (think cream of tomato soup) with overcooked pasta in it, a house salad and a spaghetti course - all unremarkable except the soup. They're suppose to be known for their filet and I don't know why. My 8 oz filet was swimming in butter-based zip sauce and the filet was very chewy. My husband's lamb chop entree was a very generous portion, cooked well, but again drenched in hi-fat zip sauce - we both should have made a point of ordering without the zip sauce or requesting it on the side. My daughter's chicken parmesan was unremarkable and light on the tomato sauce. The dining room is dated. Decent wines by the glass at fair prices

Service was very good. Reservation promptly honored. Place was packed, yet we could hold a conversation easily; a nice change from the all too common loud restaurants. Decent wine list, and they serve a potent cocktail! Of the three different entrees our group had, the filet was the clear winner. It was cooked a perfect med/rare as ordered. The veal piccata had nice flavor, but the veal was sliced a little thick, and was not as tender as I'm used too. The chicken Marsala was very good. All of the entrees came with fresh green beans and mashed potatoes; along with an antipasto platter, large house salad, bread, minestrone, and a side of pasta! That's a lot of food! (We paced ourselves and brought home doggy bags) Everything was very fresh. Coming from an old-school Italian family, I loved the sort of throw-back restaurant feel. The place is not formal, but not casual, a great place for a lovely dinner with family, friends or a date. The entree prices are reasonable considering all that is included. On an end note, the tiramisu was light, creamy, and not too overloaded with the liquor. I will be back for the filet soon!

I've been going to our neighborhood Italian restaurant, Spositas since I was in middle school, and now am 27. The staff, and owners are one of many reasons why I return weekly. Greeted with smiles, and an open table, the food is always delicious, warm, and ready just on time. With the price matching the quality of the meal, it's hard not to make this your regular 'come to joint'. My favorite Italian restaurant by far.

You are better off going to Macarroni Grill, Olive Garden or any other chain restaurant. Service took an enormous amount of time, granted it was Saturday night but still once they sat you on a table you should get descent service. They load you with food like bread, antipasto, salad, soup, etc all part of the a la carte menu but none really with any taste or seasoning (other than lots of garlic powder if you are into that sort of thing). Our antipasto happened to have mold on the picked green peppers. We brought that to the attention of our waiter and he rubbed that off with his finger and said "oh no this is maybe some ranch salad dressing that spilled, after all they all come from the same place". Are you kidding me??? We ordered a tasteless pasta with rubbery shrimp and a NY strip steak that happened to be full of fat and connective tissues and extremely tough. No one came to check on us how was the food or service.

Walking in for our 7:30 reservation for 4 on a Saturday night, we should have taken a clue from our initial treatment. The hostess confirmed our reservation and told us we'd be seated at the next table in the dining room (as opposed to the tables in the bar area). About 10 minutes later she seated a couple at the 4-top that had opened up. We stood there another 15 minutes and then asked about our table. She apologized and said nothing had opened up (really? did she think we were blind?), but just then a group of four was getting up in the bar area. She said we could have that table. A few minutes later she started to lead another couple to the table - walking right by us! Unbelievable! We challenged her as she walked by and were grudgingly given the table. We should have walked out instead. Our waiter came to the table, introduced himself as Mike, and asked if we wanted anything to drink Before we could respond, he said, "I be right back," and off he went. About 5 minutes later he set a plate of antipasto on the table and ran off again. No drinks for us! When he finally came back and got our drink order, somehow in the 3 minutes it took him to get the two glasses of wine ordered, he forgot who had ordered what, randomly setting the wine on the table. The mixed drink order came several minutes later and once again we were left waiting. When we finally had an opportunity to order, Mike quickly served the three house salads, but on the way back to get the one Caeser salad (mine of course), he stopped to schmooze with someone standing at the bar. Five minutes later I shouted for his attention and he went off to get my salad. By this time our water glasses were empty and seemed destined to remain that way. I got up and got a glass of water from the bar for the one person at the table who was drinking nothing else. If you've read my other reviews, you might have noticed that I have a pet peeve for waiters who have to ask "who had the....?" Really? We're going to pay $50 per person for a meal and drinks and you can't pay enough attention to our table to get the food in front of the right guest? By the way, $50 per person shrank significantly since Mike never came back to offer us another round of drinks nor did he offer us an opportunity to order desert. As for the food, the entree includes good bread, antipasto which was nice except for the way overcooked shrimp, a salad and minestrone soup (both good), a small plate of spaghetti (meh!), house or baked potatoes (we weren't offered a choice and the house potatoes were disappointing, and a vegetable. Not a bad value when an 8 oz filet is $32. The filet was very good, but the zip sauce it was served with was almost 100% butter. I had to ask for zip on the side to get some of the real zip flavor. The food was a three, the service was a ZERO, so I'll give Sposita's the benefit of the doubt and go with a two star review. From the menu, I get that Sposita's is trying to be like Mario's or Lelli's of old. They captured the old school menu, but not the ambiance or service one expects when walking into a first class Italian steakhouse.

I wasn't impressed. The wait staff was not professional. Its about "quality not quanity"....they are trying to impress us with the pasta they send out or their cold cuts prior to your meal.....seriously? Meh. I think honestly everyone in the food industry has lost their passion. I mean italian food is supposed to be cooked with love, heart and soul.....where's the passion? Gordon Ramsay where are you?! Michigan needs you! The best italian food I've ever had was Mezzelunas.....but I think they closed down. Such a shame. It was a hidden gem. Listen this place could be amazing if they hire new staff and make their food to order (fresh ppl!) And last but not least skip all the cold cuts and mini plates of pasta! Let's get crackin ppl! I won't be returning as a paying customer unless someone says "oh their food has changed" And its dark and gloomy in there. I want to see color and brightness. One of my favorite Italian restaurants in town. You know you love the place when you are thinking and planning in your head your next visit back 30 minutes after you arrived Everything on the menu is top notch from the filet mignon with zip sauce served with a side of pasta and relish tray to pastas to the deserts!

Had dinner here last night. Actually considered giving it 5 stars, which only I've only done twice to date, but alas 4.4 rounds to 4. When you are seated, a standard bread basket (a couple of slices of italian and some hard (crunchy) breadsticks join you. Bleh. Oh, and a bowl of parmesen cheese (I refuse to call it Parmigiano unless I know for sure it is authentic) which appears to never leave the table. However, it quickly gets better from there. An antipasto plate arrives (assuming you order an entree, but they assume). It has a pile of fresh carrot sticks, celery sticks, black olives, pepporicini, cheese, salami, two shrimp and cocktail sauce. I assume tables with more than two people receive more than two shrimp. The carrots were so tasty - odd, but true. The parade of food begins. All of these items assume you ordered an entree... Next comes a salad. I thought it was a fantastic salad - yes they do season their salads with salt and pepper like true chefs do. Pre-dressed with italian (there was another choice) which wasn't too biting - quite good. A standard salad - no meat or cheese. Next comes minestrone soup. I declined the minestrone so they brought me a salad twice as big as the regular size. It was a huge salad! My companion had the minestrone and thought it was quite good. Next comes a small plate of pasta (spaghetti). There are seven or eight choices of sauce. Their tomato sauce is a strained meat sauce i.e. a meat sauce with the meat removed. You can also get a traditional meat sauce or a traditional vegetarian marinara. I went with the olive oil and garlic. Very garlicky... in a good way. Finally your entree comes and you aren't sure if you are still hungry. I went with the lamb chops ($29.95). Four meaty lamb chops, perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. I believe they were sitting in zip sauce. Joining all entrees on the dinner plate are choice of potato (if you don't request something up front, you get mashed. Other choices are fries or baked) as well as a vegetable. Before we ordered last night the vegetable was broccoli, but by the time our dinner came, it was green beans. They were very tasty and not too mushy. My companion had the chicken piccata which was also quite good. Had a glass of the house piesporter ($5) which was a generous portion. NY Cheesecake for dessert was excellent. Arrives plain yet delicious. Put my faith back in cheesecake after a terrible one somewhere else recently. Excellent service - personable. Dinner lingers, but they aren't trying to rush you out of there - this is true Italian dining where dinner is your evening. I think we were there slightly under 2 hours. My two complaints: a) bathroom was out of paper towels and had been for some time since the kleenex box was also empty. b) we were seated at a round table that has the sides that fold under to make it a four-top square. The leaf under me kept dropping down - it would not stay clicked/shut. Both items pretty minor. A winner.

Love it!!! Totally get the filet, the best in town the zip sauce was off the charts I have been going to this restaurant for about the last 8 months with my boyfriend WE LOVE IT! Never have had a bad meal! And I also love the fact you can just roll in there in sweats or get all dressed up!

Excellent value. Food is always consistently very good. The guy at the door I think is the owner Tony is friendly and makes you feel welcome. The service is great every time we go there. Nice job Sposita's.

this is my second time as this lovely abode. want to give it FIVE STARS --- as i told joey, manager/family member of the restaurant...however, had a bad experience tonight with one of the guests (who was there with his wife and friend). my photos of the food and the ambience and regulars was not to his liking. he is on the top of my list of dickheads who should talk to me about how he does not like fotos (that i was not taking of him) and not joke with me how my camera is bothering him. when i personally walked over to him to share with him that i was taking fotos of the food and restaurant and OUR FRIENDS and regulars, he commented, "you need to practice your little camera outside. i came here with my wife. and our friend. i am done talking with you.". he is exemplary of guests that ruined my night. HOWEVER, the usual regulars (lee & sharon, ricky, larry & nancy, bob) and staff and management need to be commended for their utmost professionalism. when i walked through the dining area, i met a lady (with her husband and son) and she had her feet (no shoes) on the fourth chair at their table. she was satiated! and was ready to go home. we joked briefly and she smiled and laughed. she commented on how happy her stomach her stomach is and how her feet need to reflect the same sentiment. she was at home. sposita's is home to a lot of locals and italian food specialists. sposita's is known for valet, fine steak, wine, excellent charm/ambiance. on occasion, you will find the occasional 'regular' or being who thinks he owns the place and you can tell him that he needs to cool his jets and get his own freaking restaurant and his own table instead of hanging out at the bar with the regulars, my friends and me. love sposita's --- however, was told and have experienced 'people' who do not understand being out with dinner with others. otherwise, stay home - or get a private table. this place has the potential to have the best ambiance for you. it is key for me to have a place that i can enjoy the surrounding as well as the food. the staff and management is exceptional - however, the other guests (aside from loyal regulars and the occasional frequenters) can really sour a place quickly for anyone. i am told that here are several who come here with higher than high expections - and the staff and management always deliver. cannot say as much for ALL the patrons. on an average, 98% of everyone here were really amasing. this one guy really set me off and now not wanting to go back and making sure that he is not there before i come over. cheers to sposita's staff, management and chefs. xiang cclc

Several nights ago my girlfriend and I decided that we wanted takeout from a quality restaurant. Thus, we chose Sposita's. Shame on us. When I called the restaurant to order a carryout they put me on hold and left me there waiting. After about five minutes of eagerly waiting for someone to take my order, I decided to hangup. I waited about a minute or so, called back, and asked, with a bit of hostility in my voice, how exactly do I order? To my surprise she said that she could help me and voilà ! Maybe they put me through a trial or something, trying to test me and see how much I wanted their food. Who knows? Nevertheless, the lady was pretty helpful and I order my food, which she said would be ready in about 15 minutes. 15 minutes later I was at Sposita's. I walked in and they told me to wait for my food at the bar. The thing was no one was managing the bar. I awkwardly stood there for about 5 minutes until the lady I spoke to on the phone came out with my food. She was very friendly, gave me the food, and then I was on my way. Now to the important part: the food. While the food was pretty good, it's just not worth the price. I got the Cheese Tortellini with Garlic and Olive Oil and my girlfriend ordered the Gnocchi with Alfredo. Both were around $20. The meals came with soup and salad. Now, the minestrone was excellent, yet the salad was by far one of the worst house salads I'd ever eaten. The dressing was EXTREMELY salty. Anyways, our pastas were pretty good, although no better than any nice Italian restaurant. Places like Antonio's and Larco's definitely have their food beat. We finished off our meal with a Tiramisu. It was decent, but tasted a bit old and just wasn't worth the price; I believe it was around $5. In the end if you want a good meal for your money, steer clear of this overpriced Italian restaurant. And, whatever you do, do not order carryout. It's not as easy as you'd think ;).

I ordered a steak (which was prob a mistake at an Italian restaurant) and it came with a very good minestrone soup and some bland house salad and a weird appetizer tray with cold cuts and pickles. The minestrone soup was excellent but everything else was very mediocre. I asked for my 38oz porterhouse medium, however it was closer to a 26oz steak and was cooked quite medium well. The decor looks like something from bad 1990's movie and the service was okay. I tried some of the others dishes at my tables dishes and nothing stood out.

I'm a total fan of "old school Italian" mainly because of my family. This place is family owned and operated (I'm pretty sure they still are) and they take you through the courses. They even have good gnocchi, which for me, is hard to come by :) It's definitely more on the pricey side, but fun for a special occasion. If at all possible, get a booth because it's a bit more cozy.

Best filet in Detroit hands down. They serve a solid 4 course dinner old school Lelli's style, but there isn't a steakhouse in town that can hold a candle to Sposita's Zip Sauce. Oh yeah, and the chocolate cake is a slice of heaven! Great place, friendly low-key atmosphere and the food is ALWAYS outstanding!!!!

Our friends turned us on to Sposita's a few years ago. We went there for a Birthday dinner with them and we all ordered the chateaubriand for two or three (depending on your table or number of guests). The meal included the antispasto plate, salad, minestrone soup, pasta and then the steak with the famous zip sauce. We were already full before the meal came as it was one great course after another. The minestrone soup is Excellent and the pasta with meat, marinara, or palmetto sauce is wonderful. Then comes the Chateaubriand steak and it is done to perfection with the zip sauce (I don't know what is exactly in it but I could drink it).. ha ha... Seriously it is addictive with the steak. Needless to say we always take some home for Steak and Eggs the next morning. Love, love this place and always a great meal and great service!! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great Italian style meal.
