Was probably the shizz in 1973. Decor is very dated. The food on the other hand was very good. Beef & Broccoli contained lots of other stuff like mushrooms and water chestnuts ( a good thing ). Great view of Williams Lake if you get a window seat. Outdoor dining area needs to be cleaned up some. Waitstaff friendly and attentive. I would go back.

No No No Don't go here. Poorly managed from the hostess to the kitchen to the wait staff. Had dinner here tonight, not to be repeated. My meal arrived cold. The other two guests dinenrs arrived hot. Service was a total and complete disaster, nothing seemed to go right for our waitress. We we never go back, and BTW the restaurant was probably 30% occupied so it was not a busy night.

Food was ok but the lady at front desk was so rude I will never go back again. She accused me of stealing chopsticks that were on the counter when I thought they were there to take. I promptly put them back when she told me they were $2 extra and was rude. There was no plasticware or napkins in bag and she seemed put out when they were requested .

If you like dirty Chinese restaurants with rude service and food that tastes like it's been sitting in a buffet tray for a couple of hours, you're in the right spot! I've tried this place a couple of times for dining in and once for carry out; both were not very good... Waterford isn't known for having good bars, good food, or good service... or so I'm noticing more and more since I've moved out here a couple of years ago... If one place came through and shocked everyone with these basics it'd make a TON of money!

Best Chinese around! Dining in is a little strange, what with seeing the large koi and all. Despite the dated interior (and the gorgeous patio that goes largely unused), the food has always been solid, hot and quick. I typically get almond chicken, crab Rangoon and fried wontons, which are delicious.

The view out our window of the garden and outdoor dining are was so nice it almost distracted from the high quality of the food. The woo dip har was superb. My vegetarian platter was good, too. The service was superb. Over-all, I would give Carrie's the highest recommendation.

Tried this place for the first and last time. The place is falling apart inside and could use some major rehab. The food was okay, nothing to write home about. The best part was when my husband found something weird in his food. He asked our waitress what it was and she told him it was dried food. He asked another waitress who said she would ask the cook. She came and told him it was a bristle from the brush they use to clean the woks. That's it, no apology, no nothing. We just served you brush bristles....enjoy! Do not stop here, drive by....

Holy woooow don't eat here! Just left the place and it was a horribly disgusting experience. Sesame chicken tasted burnt and prepackaged. The egg rolls...I have no idea what they tasted like but it was not even close to being good. Chicken and broccoli tastes like bagged stir fry from Costco but worse. And no flavor. Gordon Ramsey would flip if he ate here. We ended up not eating and not paying for it. They did make us pay for the soups even tho it was part of the meal. The wonton soup is really good tho. But nothing else!

A friend suggested Carrie Lee's some time ago, and I finally had the timing right to give it a try last night after the Open House at the airport. Right off the bat, I was pretty surprised to see that the parking lot was "Are they open?" empty, because it was within spitting distance of an event that drew hundreds of people. Inside, the koi ponds and decor gave me flashbacks to Chinese restaurants in the 80's. It was actually kind of pleasant, though in more of a "I remember how I loved wearing parachute pants" way than "You know, I wish everybody wore parachute pants these days" way. There were only two other tables with people inside, which was disheartening. The menu was the same basic menu that's interchangeable with the vast majority of menus at other Chinese restaurants. The only real twist is that the combo dinners came with ice cream. I opted for the Orange Chicken, though I will say, while we waited for our entrees, I thought the Wonton soup was very good. They added lots of green vegetables to it, and normally, I'm happy to get a couple bits of onion. Kudos there. The egg rolls tasted "off" and left basically everything to be desired. I'm not a fan of the massive communal jug of plum sauce that the waitress was moving from table to table, either. Then the chicken showed up. Deeply fried, but not in its own sauce. This is some B.S. that other places (I'm looking at you, Furama!) try to pull, where they drench the same generic chicken in different sauce. One glance at another person's plate of General Tso's confirmed my suspicion. Personally, I consider it the mark of an awful restaurant. If the sauce hadn't tasted like candy syrup, that would have helped, but it was altogether pretty disappointing. I had heard good things about the fried rice, but even that was pretty bad. I'm no stranger to liberally dousing my fried rice with soy sauce, but this was "pre-seasoned" so to speak, and incredibly salty. I thought it was suspicious that the consistency, cut, and color of the chicken in the rice bore no similar resemblance to the chicken in the entree. I'll say this, though: it's definitely inexpensive.

This used to be a favorite of ours for many years. We haven't been out here for about three years, and it has really gone downhill. We ordered the sesame chicken, and it tasted prepackaged and heavy. Fried rice was not fried, soggy and wet. One time soup and eggroll were decent. If eating at a restaurant that is not clean is a turn off, avoid this place.

Used to come here all the time, but will never return. Food was cold and tasted old. We asked for noodles instead of rice with our meal and received those chow mein noodles (believe that's what they called them) which were hard. We tried to explain to our server we meant the soft noodles but she didn't seem to care. Place looks dirty.

The quality of the food has really gone down the last few years. The chicken is chewy and rubbery no matter what you get, and everything is very greasy. If you dine in, don't expect things to be fast. The waitresses are very slow. Even when we were the only ones in the restaurant our drinks went unfilled, and it took us forever to get the check. It just feels like no one in there really cares anymore. The last two times we tried eating there, we all had stomach aches after. This place used to be amazing and I wish I could recommend it, but it's just not good anymore.

We went to Carrie Lee's on New Years Day and the place was empty other than a couple folks at the bar. I was amazed at how big it is inside. We were seated with a nice view of the lake and enjoyed watching the people ice fishing. The restaurant was very clean even considering the indoor koi pond and all of the live plants lining the aisles. I ordered cashew chicken and my companion ordered general tsao chicken. They brought us some nice tea and delicious won ton soup. Next, they brought us some fried wonton wrappers and sweet and sour sauce that I could have done without and big greasy egg rolls. They were filled with sprouts which was nicer than just cabbage and carrots. I have had better egg rolls, but they were ok. My cashew chicken was extremely bland. Thankfully there was some low sodium soy sauce on the table to jazz it up a little. My companion said his general tsao was decent. At the end of the meal the waitress brought us a scoop of orange sherbet and a fortune cookie which was a nice touch. I definitely want to come back for the wonton soup and tea but I will choose something different for my entree. It is not hard to make cashew chicken but since I've lived in Michigan I haven't had any that is up to par. I will just stick to making it myself.

Wow that was some badly done frozen prepackaged food. Dishes had no flavor or tasted burned. I got the Hot Pepper Shrimp and it had no flavor. My wife got Kung Pao Chicken. The sauce had no flavor and the vegetables tasted burnt. The egg rolls are disgusting. The pan fried dumplings were still watery from being frozen. We will never come back.

Food tasted like frozen dinners reheated with no flavor. Service horrendous. The waitress never asked for our drink order, only giving us water. Waitress served my dinner before the rest of our party & when I said to take it back she refused & told me to just cover it up. Are you serious!

I am not a big fan of the chinese food, but this is a decent option. I find the Waterford location more of a dine in place with some carry out, and the Lake Orion location more of a carry out than dine in. If you carry out the prices are significatly lower. However, when dining in, your meal comes with soup, egg roll, and ice cream. I have always enjoyed their wonton soup. Decently filled wontons, nice broth and a few greens and scallons floating about. The egg rolls are bean sprout egg rolls, which is my preferance. They have great plum sauce and pugent hot mustard. I always stick with the no. 18 aka General Tso. I recommend you order is extra hot. It is a starch battered fried chicken and the pieces are small-ish cut. This is my personal preferance. I do not like big pieces of heavily battered meat. It is barely battered, crispy and dainty. Nicely sauced, not drowning. Do not get confused, the portions are huge. The combos are served with fried rice typically. I highly recommend getting the beverage, the volcano bowl. It is served in a ceramic bowl with dancing hula girls and in the center is a volcano stack which is lit on fire. It is filled with a fruity, yummy punch and two gigantic straws. So fun. Back in the day my friend and I even sweet talked the manager at the Waterford location to let us purchase two of the actual volcano bowl containers to keep. How nice!! The almond chicken is also a good choice. No almond cookie, but a fortune cookie. And ice cream to boot. Oh in Waterford when you enter they have a koi pond and lots of fish takes...You can sit over looking the lake and there are a few tables on the lake.

Not the best Carrie Lee's. Beautiful location, nice view too, however the chicken tasted old and microwaved (chewy and rubbery). The sizzling rice soup was without sizzle and the chicken broth base was spoiled with soy sauce to give it a dark brown color and covered any flavor. I had Hunan Chicken and the black bean sauce looked good but also lacked much flavor. Service was good but I've found better value elsewhere.

Let me start by saying that I grew up in Commerce, and Carrie Lees was always my family's staple Chinese restaurant. In my eyes, they were perfect. 10 years after moving out of the area, I had a chance to share this childhood favorite of mine with my husband. We were less than impressed. Maybe my standards have gone up, maybe their quality has gone down, maybe both. We ordered the #18 General Tsoo Chicken to share: -The egg drop soup was decent, my husband didn't like it at all. -The crunchy noodles that come with the soup were stale. -The "hot tea" was more like "lukewarm tea". -The egg roll was good. -The sauce on the General's chicken tasted like they had dumped a bunch of brown sugar into some soy sauce and called it a day. -The waitress stopped just short of being outright rude. I saw some of the other servers smiling and laughing with their tables, but not ours. Stone cold. -Price was fine. $10 for the two of us to share that meal. -Best part of the meal was the scoop of chocolate ice cream at the end. My husband asked me how many stars I'd give it and I replied "two, because it could have been WORSE if it was completely inedible." We'll stick with our new favorite, Peking House in Royal Oak, exclusively from now on. 5 stars, EVERY time.

Good consistent Chinese food, if you dine in your combination comes with tea, egg roll, soup & ice cream. The place always has a lot of regulars and has a nice view of the lake. During the summer you see boats dock and come in for carry out. For the price you get a huge portion of food, we actually split our meal and it fills us up. If you go we suggest you try the wonton soup, also if you order fried rice as a meal its better. I wouldn't mind if a few of the staff members were a little friendlier.

i am still a fan if Carrie Lee's even though their prices have gone up and the quality has somewhat went down. i have been coming here for years, it's always been me and my dad's 'spot'. they still have their little ponds when you walk in the door but the talking bird they used to have was taken out of the restaurant for what i believe were 'sanitary' reasons. but i've never found anything unsanitary about carrie lee's. it's a large restaurant on a lake with a bar, smoking and non-smoking sections but it is always rather empty. there is outdoor seating but i've never seen anyone eat out there. you are seated and waited on promptly. the waitresses are usually difficult to understand, but they manage to bring you what you want. the lunch portions are large and filling and there are always left overs. the prices are slightly higher than in the past at about $10 per meal. the won ton soup is a little more bland that it used to be, the noodles can sometimes be mushy and i never eat the pork in the won ton. the crunchy noodles are good. the fried rice is less flavorful that in the past, but once it mixes with the sauce of your food you don't really notice. overall i still like this place and i will keep coming here, but not as often as we used to.

Very rude owner. My friend we're eating and he went out to smoke and here comes the granny who's the owner came straight to my face and ask where's my friend going...and if he's coming back. Not very professional. While we were eating dinner, they were vacuuming. After dinner we only received one fortune cookie. Now isn't that cheap? How much do you think a fortune cookie cost? Probably a few pennies. I would not go back to this place if it was the last restaurant on earth. This place is bad.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

(1)Polly C C.

Tender, delicious all white meat chicken with crunchy carrots and green peppers in my sweet and sour today. Really good!
(4)T W.
(1)Treasure G.
(5)M D.
The view out our window of the garden and outdoor dining are was so nice it almost distracted from the high quality of the food. The woo dip har was superb. My vegetarian platter was good, too. The service was superb. Over-all, I would give Carrie's the highest recommendation.
(5)Annie F.
(2)Chris K.

(1)Danielle L.
(1)Cassandra T.
(2)Pam C.
(3)Robert M.
(1)A W.
Food tasted like frozen dinners reheated with no flavor. Service horrendous. The waitress never asked for our drink order, only giving us water. Waitress served my dinner before the rest of our party & when I said to take it back she refused & told me to just cover it up. Are you serious!
(1)Christy F.
(3)Thomas P.

(2)Katie G.
(4)Patrick A.
Almond Chicken is outstanding. I live far away and have dreams about visiting so I can get some.
(5)Darren T.
Decent food, strange smelling fish pond, and strange decor. What you would expect from a tacky Chinese restaurant. Lost me when I presented my debit card to purchase carry out...they don't seem to be fans and were quite rude about taking it. Wake up its 2012.
(2)Rob G.
It is what it is people. It's affordable, decent food. No frills, fast carry out, and it's down the street. Perfect for me, but I'm not a fan of the live fish and stank that comes from Koi pond.
(3)T N.
How can you screw up Almond Chicken? the sauce was like that egg soup most places serve. This was our first and last order from this place!
(1)Michelle S.
i am still a fan if Carrie Lee's even though their prices have gone up and the quality has somewhat went down. i have been coming here for years, it's always been me and my dad's 'spot'. they still have their little ponds when you walk in the door but the talking bird they used to have was taken out of the restaurant for what i believe were 'sanitary' reasons. but i've never found anything unsanitary about carrie lee's. it's a large restaurant on a lake with a bar, smoking and non-smoking sections but it is always rather empty. there is outdoor seating but i've never seen anyone eat out there. you are seated and waited on promptly. the waitresses are usually difficult to understand, but they manage to bring you what you want. the lunch portions are large and filling and there are always left overs. the prices are slightly higher than in the past at about $10 per meal. the won ton soup is a little more bland that it used to be, the noodles can sometimes be mushy and i never eat the pork in the won ton. the crunchy noodles are good. the fried rice is less flavorful that in the past, but once it mixes with the sauce of your food you don't really notice. overall i still like this place and i will keep coming here, but not as often as we used to.
(4)Elvis C.

Was probably the shizz in 1973. Decor is very dated. The food on the other hand was very good. Beef & Broccoli contained lots of other stuff like mushrooms and water chestnuts ( a good thing ).
