Probably the best Mexican food I've ever had. I got the chorizo torta, bread was soft, chorizo was spicy, all the flavors just melted in my mouth. Highly recommend. The waitress was nice but didn't appear to know how to do everything, and when my friends and I asked her how to pronounce the name of the restaurant (since my friend who took us here said he never knew how to say it in all the times he went there) she said she didn't know, saying that she just tells people that she works at "the Mexican restaurant." But the food was that good where I would disregard the oddities. The location is also out of the way on this very quiet road but I don't mind it, the food is 100% worth it.

I might be biased here, it is across the street from where I work. But, that being said, it really is a gem with true authentic Mexican food. I send my friends and customers there for dine in and carry out and not a complaint from anyone. The shredded pork tacos are my favorite and had a couple yesterday with extra cilantro.

My husband and I thought we'd give it a try since we live in Romeo and didn't feel like driving down to Hall Rd. The waitress was great. Very attentive, polite and apologetic for the establishment not having fountain pop. My husband actually walked next door to the gas station to buy our pops. We ordered the chicken chimichanga. It was ok, but certainly not the best we've ever had. I'm not sure we'll ever go back.

Walking up to the small, poorly advertised resturant we were concerned that we were about to renact a scene from bridesmaids. However the food was FANTASTIC. while a little janky - rock hard booths and crockedly hung signs- very clean. Prices were good. Now one of my favorite mexican restaurant. Highly recommend. Service was fast and very friendly.

This place is fantastico! A co-worker had recommended this place, but since it's so far from me, I hadn't had a chance to go. We happened to be up this way at the pumpkin patch, and it was late and dinner was calling. I remembered about this Taqueria and we ended up going. Boy, am I glad we made that decision! My better half had a chimichanga, as is her habit, and it looked very good. She decided to go outside of her comfort zone and got it with al pastor (marinated pork), and she said it was really tasty. My mother-in-law got enchiladas and enjoyed them a lot. We got a chicken quesadilla for my little one, and she ended up eating rice so I had that for a late-night snack, and it was great. I got 3 tacos, and enjoyed them all. The chicken was my least favorite, it was a little dry. The al pastor was great, and the carne asada (steak) was so good that I ordered another one! The service was also great, our waitress checked on us often (they were slow that night but I suspect that would be the case at any time). If you like good, authentic Mexican food, definitely try this place if you're in the area. You will not be disappointed!

I was hugely disappointed. There was only 1 waitress and at least 15 people dining there. It took 40 minutes to get our food. When I asked for sour cream it was 75 cents!! The amount of sour cream they gave me was only a spoonful. What a joke! They also shorted me 1 taco and never came back to refill the chips and salsa. The food was good but not worth all that hassle. I would rather go somewhere else.

Great food. We are frequent carry out customers. I like all the different tacos and the pork torta. Everything I have ever tried is really good. The food is prepared fresh as soon as your order it. Very good authentic Mexican. Highly recommend!

The food was amazing, but the service was one of the worst I have ever had. The waitress didn't know anything about the menu, and she forgot at least three things that we ordered. When we left I saw her sitting on the other side of the restaurant on her phone. If I can recommend anything to the owner it would be to hire new wait staff.

Was in Romeo area to pick up some tart cherries and needed to get lunch, Taqueria el Michoacano was just down the road so my friend and I decided to give it a try and am I ever glad we did-the food was Phenomenal! Easily some of the best tacos I've ever had in Michigan, quite possibly the very best. Was in on Taco Tuesday so the already incredible prices were even lower (1.50 for most of the tacos on offer). I had 3 tacos all served on corn tortillas with onion and cilantro: marinated pork (Al pastor) - excellent, very well seasoned and my favorite chicken (pollo) - least favorite of the three I had but still very good beef tongue (lengua) - very tender, needed a little hot sauce to spice it up but tasty they had a mild and a hot sauce on offer, my friend had the mild and I had the hot which was very good but that I'd put more in the medium range spice wise. I really wish this taqueria was closer to me so I could pop by whenever I want! It'll be a new destination whenever I'm in the romeo area now though

Really good Mexican food. We've been here a few times to get take out. They expanded in the past year or so and now they have plenty of space for dining in. Pretty simple menu, good burritos, I enjoyed the chicken chimichanga today which was good also. If you don't see exactly what you want ask. Will definitely be going back in the future. Could use a kids menu, we ordered alacart for the kids. Would have liked more chips, but the food came out quickly.

It's like hearing a song for the first time and instantly you love it! That's how my experience started yesterday at Taqueria El Michoacano!~ Festive music jamming and a cheery hello's greeted me as I walked in, but not before the amazing aroma's alerted my senses! Falling...hard at this point. I was surprised at the size once inside of the restaurant. By the looks of the outside, it simply looks like it's a place for carry out, or that they might have two or three tables..not so my friends...it's more than meets the eye with this place! Two very friendly employees told me they would help with my order. When I decided on what I wanted I stepped up to the counter, and chatted up the owner's son. He stated that they were in their fifth year of being in this location, and that they had started off as a food truck, that would park up the street at a local party store. - Impressed! He stated business was going great, and they had obtained their liquor license 6 months ago, so Corona's and Margarita's are now available and it was helping business!! I love to hear small businesses thrive!! Fresh food! Great, friendly service! This is my kind of place!! Can't wait to go back!

Great authentic Mexican! Looking for Taco Bell, thankfully this is not it. While the space is no frills, the food is second to none. Been there numerous times while visiting Westview Orchards, Taqueria El Michoacano is worth the trip alone.

We recently moved out here from a suburb of Detroit. We regularly went to Mexican Town to get our "fix". When we moved to Washington, we did not expect to be able to find a place we were truly happy with...I mean, how can you compare to Mexican Town? Anyways, after 2 months of living less than 2 miles from this place, we decided to give it a shot (thanks to the previous Yelp reviews). And let me say, it did not disappoint. It was authentic (no Tex Mex here), fresh and absolutely delicious! I was nervous about the margaritas (I'm a fine connoisseur) as their options were just "lime, or "strawberry" I thought for sure we were going to get the neon green, sour-filled with a splash of tequila type-rita. But, it was also delicious. Not sour...just refreshing. We were even offered more tequila if it wasn't strong enough. Mas Tequila por favor! We had tacos, mixed fajitas and tamales. All of which were excellent. They have a simple menu, but who needs variety when everything is so darn good! We will be regulars!

Everything is fresh and on the verge of amazing. I honestly plan my vacations home around making sure I can get here for at least Taco Tuesdays. Also... the GUAC... so good i eat it with a spoon.

I've had better guacamole. Meat was hard. Margarita had bug in it Tacos were okay. Taco Bell was better. Not flavorful. Really slow service. Only one waitress covering the whole place, no bartender. Got our appetizer with our meal - came out slow. Drinks orders took a while to get.

I am a Michigan native who spent seven years living in Arizona and California, where I found my love for authentic Mexican food. Moving back to Michigan, I was afraid that I would have trouble finding the real deal. Taqueria El Michoacano nails it. Service was good during a Wednesday lunch hour. Prices are reasonable. No horchata, but you can't have it all! I will definitely be returning.

I was really hoping to like this place but unfortunately I was very disappointed. I ordered the tacos and my husband ordered the beef fajitas. We were seated and drink orders were taken. Margarita was ok but both margarita and carona were served with a lemon. My husbands beef was tough and dry. His order was brought to the table about 5 minutes before my tacos. When I did receive my tacos I had to ask for silverware and napkins. The server had only brought my husbands. Very sad and disappointed. Forget about getting a send round on your drinks, ours have been empty and sitting at the end of the table for 10 minutes. Server has yet to come over and ask how everything is.

I lived in the Southwest U.S. for awhile (Nevada), and since returning to Michigan this is the closest I've found to the authentic Mexican food I got used to eating in Nevada. I'm not saying my wife and I will quit going to Taco Loco in Shelby Twp. because we like that place also, but we might be done with Mexican Village in Shelby Twp. I warn everybody that if you're used to Americanized Mexican food like from Taco Bell, or even from one of the many Mexican restaurants in the Detroit area that cook Americanized Mexican food you probably won't like this place. They do offer a shrimp burrito that's not on the menu, not sure why it's not on the menu, but I wish they sold fish tacos and fish burritos.

Fresh and authentic Mexican food. Best Carnita's outside of LA. I usually eat this 2-3 times a week for lunch. Now if I can only order the menudo (available only on sundays) before they run out!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
