I found victory smoke house on Yelp and figured I would give it a try. My fiancé and I absolutely love a good BBQ- which is sometimes hard to find in Michigan. The minute you pull into the parking lot you get hit with the smell of some good BBQ. We ordered the brisket, pulled pork, spicy sausage, St. Louis style ribs, burnt ends, Mac and cheese and the baked beans. (We pretty much wanted to try everything!) And we are so glad we did!!! This place is amazing! We will be back!!! And I will definitely tell my friends!! Keep up the good work!

This place serves some good bbq! Ill explain each item I had in detail below for thpse curious, but overall, everything was great. Each of the meat items had a good smoke flavor. The mac and cheese is pretty darn good; they use quite a bit of cheese in the dish, and I enjoyed it. This place also has awesome customer service, with a friendly and patient staff. The bbq is ordered around back, sides are picked up on the inside. Fortunately, this is a real bbq place where you can smell the smoke when you walk in. This means that everything on the menu may not be ready when you want it. Ive had enough terrible bbq to know thats a good thing. Be patient, and thankful; this guys are actually trying to make real BBQ. On to the food, I tried an assorment of the offerings on their menu, which entailed: beef spare ribs, pork st louis style spare ribs, beef brisket (with and without sauce), smoked pork belly, burnt ends, and mac+cheese. The beef ribs were great. Fyi these are beef spare ribs, with the meat between the bone, not short ribs, so it it may take a bit of work to get the meat off the bones. I didnt have a problem with that, and regardless of personal feelings about the cut, I believe anyone will find them to be delicious. The pork ribs I found to be particulary good. There really isnt any other major bbq place in the area I can think to compare them too, but they were good. There was a good rub on the meat. The ribs came with a sauce already on them, which was less intense, which I actually liked. This is one of those places where I felt the sauce was added to compliment, not to cover up weak flavor. The brisket here was good. Great flavor, with a nice smoke ring. They also leave a little fat on top, like most good places. The burnt ends were good as well, and if you have never had them, this is one of the few places in Detroit I recommend you give them a try. The smoked pork belly was interesting, and something I really enjoyed havinf. Not too many bbq places serve it here. It has more of a char and bark on it than other things here. I enjoy that flavor, but those not use too it may want a bit of sauce with it. The mac and cheese is pretty darn good. Its a thicker mac and cheese, with a heavy amount of cheese. Its the kind of mac I love.

I read a ton of really good reviews and finally had the chance to stop in and try the BBQ. Initially the order process is a bit confusing. You have to go to the back, pay for the the BBQ'd meat, then any sides you buy must be taken into the bar and picked up at the service window. You then get a seat and get another server for drinks. I'm a good tipper but being presented the opportunity to tip 3 times seems like a bit of overkill. Now the food. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich, pork belly sandwich, and a side of mac and cheese and beans. We found we had two big complaints with the sandwiches. 1) They are doused with sauce and 2) The bun is very stale and crumbly. I'd have like to sauce myself, and now I know if I go back. I would much rather just have slices of white bread and make my own sandwich but it's not my place. The pork, It was smoked nicely, however it was very cold. I know bbq sits and that is part of the game but it wasn't even warm. With that said, it was decent. The pork belly was sub par and we probably wouldn't order that one again. It was pretty tough and just warm. The mac and cheese, is standard mac and cheese, nothing special or bad. The beans are the star of the show. These are hot, lots of pork, creamy and would be something I'd order each time with our without bbq. I think with a few tweaks this could be a really good place.

I have mixed feelings about this place. We walked into the Victory Inn, the bar part, and Amber, our waitress, instructed us on what to do. She explained that we sit in the bar but have to walk outside into a little shack part and order our food and pay there. (Amber btw, was so amazingly nice and friendly. She made my experience here that much better). So off we went. I reallllllllllly wanted the Pulled Pork Sandwich. Hrmph..it's not ready yet. Ok, so how about the Turkey..hrmph, it's not ready yet. So, I guess I'll get the Brisket Sandwich and a side of Mac N' Cheese instead. I guess I might not be a huge brisket connoisseur but I've had it a couple of times and to me this brisket seemed extremely fatty. To the point of it being slimy in my mouth. I didn't enjoy this or the flavorless bun it came on. I managed to eat half of the sandwich and most of my Mac, which was quite tasty btw. My cousin raved about all of the food she ordered, so maybe it's just me :/ I would like to come back to try the Pulled Pork and to see what all of the hubbub is about.

Went there for lunch... Odd setup, have to order food from smokehouse and eat inside ... But the food is GREAT I Had the brisket and was very tender !!

Delicious BBQ every time I've been there! The turkey is absolutely amazing! Love the flavor of their BBQ sauce!

Get there early for lunch because tables will fill up! I got a sandwich with pulled pork and brisket which I highly recommend. Great smokey flavor and a lot of food for your dollar. The Mac and cheese was also really cheesey and delicious as well. ** revising this, I found out they have a spicier BBQ sauce, be sure to ask for it!

From the time we walked in until we left we had an awesome experience. Such good food. Can't wait to go back!

Great new gem close to home! Had the BBQ baby back ribs -half slab for $12, beef brisket for $8, baked beans n coleslaw. Best baked beans I've ever had... ribs were perfect and the sauce was amazing. Huge portion of brisket -great cuts of meat. My only suggestion would be that the brisket be served a bit more tender. BBQ sauce is awesome sauce. Bring it over from the tent behind into the Victory Inn (only kink that needs to be worked out and it wasn't a big deal) and grab a 23oz Coors light for 2.75. I would say this was a Friday night steal... PROTEIN MAHHHH

The BBQ here is legit. I've tried the brisket and pulled pork, both were excellent. Can be a little confusing on how to order, so walk into the mocked up shipping container, order your food, then pop into the vic and grab a beer until your food is done. Service in the bar is always the best around and the beers are cheap. There is no way to go wrong here.

I just got done shoving my face full of pork belly, baby back ribs, sausage and brisket. and I must report complete satisfaction an all fronts very delicious REAL BBQ. I think I pretty much ate a half pound of sausage by myself. This is not pre-made or left over from yesterday reheated BBQ, its fresh off the smoker. I like to think I am a good judge of BBQ, I have been smoking and grilling for many years myself. I sometimes have a hard time with what many people "think" is good BBQ. Chain restaurants are typically not. The BBQ area has real smoke, a great indicator of goodness in BBQ. They have a great setup outside the Victory Inn Bar and Grill. Its a converted shipping container with the BBQ trailer attached to it. A really a cool setup, looks like something you would see in East Texas. All heated and covered so don't worry about being cold if you have to wait in line. I had a feeling it was going to be good from the setup alone. You can order to go or you can go into the Victory Inn and they will bring it to you. I took it to go and sped home like a maniac. Great job guys. I will be back, it was worth the 26 mile drive. I would recommend this place if you are looking for some fantastic BBQ. Worth the drive for sure.

Ribs are Great, but $24.00 is way to much for a slab of ribs with out any sides. If you want me back as a customer again, you better lower your rib prices. When you first opened your ribs were $16.00 then went to $18.00 then a month later went to $20.00 and now they're $24.00. Sorry to say but you just lost a loyal customer.

I had the beef brisket. Meh. It was tough and had too much fat for my taste. Not sure what others are raving about with this place.

This is by far the BEST barbeque in Michigan! My wife (from San Antonio) gives it the Texas seal of approval! I highly recommend the brisket and pulled pork. The brisket is juicy with a perfect smoke ring and the pulled pork melts in your mouth. The Mac and Cheese is delicious, but the baked beans are only okay. The price is great for what you get. Ihave already visited for times and I will be back many more times!

Super long wait in a line at lunchtime Friday. I had the half pound of brisket. The brisket was really fatty. About half of my order was fat.

What can I say, other than fabulous. I absolutely loved the atmosphere. I loved the smokehouse being next to the bar, outside, with stuffed critters and a glorious smoke smell. The pork belly was sooo friggin' good. The pulled pork was enough for two and only $8. The bar had great vibes. Our new favorite place. I'm trying the beans and mac & cheese next.

We tried the beef ribs, brisket, Turkey, pulled pork. All amazing! Beef ribs are great but you get less meat because the bones are so big, just the nature of beef ribs. Turkey wasn't dry and had great smoked taste. Brisket was so tender and moist best brisket I had in a long time. Pulled pork was simply amazing. Happy most definitely going again!!

Just had the baby back ribs, brisket, sausage, pulled pork, beans, slaw, Mac and cheese. All are very, very good and the meats were fresh off the smoker. The ribs had a nice bark on them and the brisket has a beautiful pink smoke ring, my favorite was the pulled pork though great smoke flavor and had a good chew (not soggy). Beans were good but could use a little pork added to it, Mac and cheese is awesome! Defiantly will be returning to this Texas style BBQ joint!!!

Victory Smokehouse hands down has the best Brisket and Pulled Pork I've ever had. So juicy and flavorful! As a connoisseur of food I have tried many BBQ restaurants and couldn't believe how amazing the BBQ was here. I look forward to eating Victory Smokehouse BBQ again!

If you are looking for good barbecue food in the metro Detroit area this is the place to go. Best brisket and pulled pork I've ever had.

We are always up for an adventure. We drive out here hoping to find a diamond in the rough. The rough part we got. We made reservations as suggested, for what I have no idea. We walked into a local bar right out of the 1970s. When we were finally addressed, we were not impressed. We were lead around the back, down this way and that. Again we were still thinking adventure for good BBQ is worth it. I wish I could say I was blown away. The meat was fatty without a lot of smoke ring. The ONE sauce was ketchup with a kick. The sides were ordinary. BBQ in my book is suppose to be done "low and slow" until the meat "falls off the bone". The beef ribs were tough and chewy. I gave up on most of the meat because it was still locked in the connective tissue the slow cooking is suppose to melt off. When I go out to eat I expect me than what I can do in my own kitchen. Between the outdated place, and the underwhelming food I felt like I was in a basement graduation.

My husband and I were staying in Warren for the night before a family event and I wanted to find a place to eat that wasn't a chain establishment. I am thrilled we stumbled upon Victory Smokehouse and I am grateful to my fellow Yelpers for turning us on to the place with all of the rave reviews. What a find! The bbq was delicious, the portions huge and the price as cheap as it gets (for good food). The two guys manning the smokehouse were wonderful: Friendly, helpful, informative, funny and really, really into their real-wood-smoked-bbq. You enter the bbq part of the joint through a door carved out of a shipping container. You meander along a wood-stacked path, accented with hay bales, to the smoker trailer and order and pay at the counter. Then you get your meat on a tray and poker chips to redeem at the bar next door for your sides. Just as instructed by the bbq guys, we handed over our meat trays and tokens at the kitchen door, right inside the bar, and received them back with the sides. (Remember: "Meat in the back, sides inside.") We both got cole slaw (the only minor disappointment of the evening--the seasoning was just not my taste) and husband got mac & cheese (which was to die for!). My St. Louis style ribs were meaty, juicy, flavorful and delicious. His pulled pork sandwich was stacked generously high and just as delicious as my ribs. At the bar next door (also called Victory and exactly the kind of dive with local color and lots of personality that I seek when I'm in the land of Appleby's and Wal-Mart) the service was gracious and prompt, and the prices were beyond reasonable: $4 for a Cherry Coke (made fresh with cherry juice from the bar) and a tall glass of beer (what's bbq without beer? :) so I tipped our bar server well (100% of our bill, in fact, because I was so happy with the food, drinks, atmosphere and people it was worth the four bucks to show our appreciation. When in Warren, you must do Victory Smokehouse.
