Always quick and courteous. They even make me lemon chicken even though it's not in the menu!

Not terrible and not great. Fast service. The fried rice didn't have any flavor. The egg roll had mushrooms. (Just stating a fact.) My "spicy" schezuan chicken was mild at best with a very sweet taste to it. There was barely any chicken. Mostly julianned onion, carrots and bell peppers. It was a brown sauce. I wouldn't eat here again. Not worth the price paid.

Have been coming here since I was little and it just isn't like it used to be. The soup was good and so were the fried dumplings. My "jumbo shrimp" was really a normal sized shrimp butterflied and coated with too much better. I know it's hit or miss getting seafood from a Chinese restaurant, but I really don't think we'll be coming back here again.

I've been eating here for years. The staff is friendly, the food is always consistently great, and the prices are good. I usually try new items each time and I'm happy to say I've been happy each time.

I have been going to rubys for 17 years. And the place is just getting worse. The wait staff are awful! They are beyond rude. Yesterday while i was having dinner the waitress was staring at me, she asked how everything was i was still eating but i told her fine. I had her get me a box and my bill and i was going to finish than leave. She started boxing my food up while i was still eating. In the 17 years of me going there i have never had them box up my food. The owner who is usually very friendly didnt think it was an issue. Im done with this place. This was not my first bad experience!

Other than when we called in our order, they changed my husbands name, the food was abundant, yummy and hot! They even packaged it up for him to minimize the traveling terrors during a snow storm! Very nice and great food for the prices.

Worst food ever. Ordered the pepper steak only about 5 pieces of steak about 20-30 peppers & onions. Got a diet pop glasses are so small. They charged us for 4 refills when we only had 2. Waitress was very rude. This place sucks.

I want to not like this place. I feel like the waitresses and people in charge are HARSH, but I think that's just their way. It's actually kind of funny. I'm not a Chinese food guy. I don't care for most Chinese food. However, there are a few things I like. My wife loves Chinese food so I accompany her on occasion. Tonight was one of those. The wonton soup is good, not phenomenal.....can it ever be phenomenal...no really, can it? The egg rolls taste homemade and they're also good, not phenomenal. I had shrimp chow mein. It's pretty dang wonderful. It's tasty and fresh. Our service was great and polite as well. The portions are huge. There's enough food to last us a couple more days at least. The prices were quite reasonable, especially considering the quantity of food you receive. The room itself is typical Chinese restaurant type setting. Nothing remarkable really. I think the food is definitely good and it's worth going!!!!

I loved this restaurant and had been going here along with my whole family for more then 20 years.but today I ordered wonton soup, and a few other things and returned home to eat this delicious meal and opened my soup and guess what I found!!?? A dead bug floating in my soup...totally disgusting.was told by many people to call and complain and decided without a doubt Instead to never eat there again. Still nauseous from seeing this in my food.very disappointed!

I have ate from this restaurant for many years. I think the food is now kinda hit and miss at times and waitresses can be impatient and straight up bitchy on most visits...if you do not understand them, or if they do not understand you. I have never liked the fact the charge around $2 for a 12 Oz. Fountain Drink with No Refills when most will do this as a courtesy for customers. That is why I will only get carry out and not dine-in after rough service and nickel and dime on a tab. They have have good Almond Boneless Chicken that keeps me coming back.

My wife and I ate there last night for dinner. Like most Chinese restaurants, when we walked in it was mostly empty. We got seated at a booth after a minute or two. The staff was friendly enough. Our soups, hot roll and tea came out fairly quickly. I ordered the Szechuan Chicken and my wife got the Cashew Chicken. Our meals came out hot and the portions were good sized. Though I specifically asked for my meal to be spicy it was not. A little disappointed with that. Also, as the other reviewer said, the Szechuan Chicken has a lot of veggies and less chicken. I tried my wife's dish and it seemed a bit bland too. All in all, we both though our meals were okay but not great. Next time I will most likely go to Ping On which my wife likes or House of Chan which I like.

Just left Ruby's. I absolutely love this place. My food is always hot even when I put in the order of the phone. The staff knows what my girlfriend I order as soon as we walk in. Orange Chicken is the best, flavorful, white meat chicken. Delish.

Kyle K.
I absolutely love this place! Rubys is by far the best chinese restaurant around! They have great sweet and sour chicken, but i would go somewhere else for crab ragoon. Ruby, the owner is an awesome, while the waitress are not so much anything but rude. Overall the food is great and cheap. Me and my boyfriend can share a meal and only end up paying $8 for the two of us! I highly recondmend this place!

Large size portions and average-to- great flavor. Almond Chicken is a must -try as are their crab Rangoon. (Different from the overly sweet ones you get other places). Carry-out is very fast and they've got very low prices on specials. Have eaten here at least half a dozen times & I'm sure I will a dozen more.

The service here today was just mediocre, we had to ask for things more than once and the waitress seemed to have a bit of an attitude. The food on the other hand was pretty good. We had the almond boneless chicken, the chicken and broccoli and won ton soup. All in all this visit was just ok, we will most likely return.

Best Chinese restaurant in the area! The owners are friendly and they have a great staff. We go there ALL the time even though they are across town. I always get there sweet and sour what ever, but their shrimp is the best. They also will give you sweet and sour sauce in a bottle to take home. Bring back the bottle and they'll refill it for you! The only downside is; they don't work with Wok To You, which means they don't deliver.

Didn't know this place existed, and now I know why. When I read the reviews on here I thought how bad can Hot & Sour Soup be? I quite honestly didn't believe Brian W's review about it being so awful. I sort of consider myself a connoisseur of Hot & Sour Soup since I order it everywhere I go. Well, Brian W - you were right. It was like drinking dirty dish water. DISGUSTING. One bite and I threw it away. The rest of our meal (fried rice, egg rolls, almond chicken, Schezwan beef) was just so-so. I don't think I'd waste my time going here again when there are much better places not far away.

Best Chinese in the metro Detroit area, hands down! After moving to Canton, I disappointingly found nothing that was as delicious and a bargain as Ruby. The Cashew Shrimp lunch combo is the bomb dot com! Rolls and egg drop soup are satisfying also. If you are an eastsider, go here! You will leave full and happy!

Got a carry out late one Saturday night. Got an order of Kung Pao Chicken and a QT of Hot and Sour Soup. The Hot and Sour Soup (only one size QT for $4.95) was the worst tasting soup I ever tasted. Had two-three spoon fulls and threw the rest down the garbage disposal. What a waste of $4.95. I imagine thats what dirty mop water would tast like. Dont make the same mistake as I and order their Hot & Sour Soup. The Kung Pao Chicken wasnt bad, but I dont think I'll be going back there again.

I ordered carryout from Ruby's every Friday for a few years while in high school. While that was certainly not a healthy decision, it was cheap and delicious. On this visit, Ruby's simply was not what I remembered it to be. I suppose my taste buds are more refined now, and I have had the opportunity to try a lot more Chinese and Asian cuisine. I feel as if Macomb county is lacking in quality Chinese food. With that said, Ruby's is good, but certainly not great. The General Tao Chicken was greasier than I had remember, and the rolls were tasteless. The egg roll and wonton soup were both good. As for the atmosphere...nothing has changed there. It is very dated and in much need of a face-lift. Overall, Ruby's is a good value for solid Americanized Chinese food.
(3)
Jon K.
Ruby's is like many of Chinese restaurants. It is family run and features the delicious American-ized version of Chinese food. Do no be surprised if you have to wait for your food though. Speedy they are not. If you're craving the iconic Chinese food of your youth, Ruby's delivers in just like you remember it. If you're looking for something healthy, look elsewhere. Ruby's is classic, and that means they fry chicken and rice in real oil. Grease is par the course! If you're on the east side and need a fix, check it out. The dining room is nice for groups, but rarely busy. Don't let the lack of people scare you away from dining in. Additionally, they also offer carry out.
(4)
Greg C.
5 star is reserved for upscale dining in my opinion so my 4 star rating for Ruby says a lot. My favorite is the Szechuan beef but I've never had a bad meal here. I live on the west side but I'll detour if I'm even close to the area to stop in here for lunch or dinner.

Location/Parking: Located at 14 and Schoenherr next to the Kroger. Large parking lot that always has room. Pricing: Pretty fair with cheap lunch specials. They do charge for pop refills Cleanliness: Very clean and kept up Service Quality: Eh, hit or miss. It is hard to understand a few of the servers due to the language barriers. Pretty cut and dry service. Ambience/Atmosphere: Clean and poorly lit with booths along the wall. Crowd: Mostly locals and older, at least the people eating in were older. Takeout is a mixed bag. The food: Never had a complaint about the food. The almond chicken is breaded just right and the Szechuan chicken is always tasty with a bit of sweetness. The fried rice selections are always top notch and the egg rolls are always fresh. Warning: They have mixed up orders a number of times and forgot to put items in the take-out bag. AND, they staple the cartons so watch out when you pull them open.

Although the food is decent (I prefer almond boneless w/ sauce on side) for the area, I was disappointed to not find a diaper changing station in the bathroom. Therefore, I would say restaurant not very infant/toddler friendly.

I am not sure about the other reviews about bad food here. I have been coming here for almost 3 years and haven't had a bad meal yet. The restaurant is very dated looking inside which is the only thing that keeps this place from 5 stars for me. The prices are great and the food is very good with generous portions. If you are looking for a quiet place to eat with someone special or a small group then this place would be perfect. As we ate we watched order after take out order go out the door. That is for sure their primary business and they are very popular with it. So when you go sit in you get the same great food as a popular Chinese restaurant without all the crowds.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
