Although I avoid chains whenever possible We had a hankering for some soup on Friday. Therefore the soup & Salad at the Olive Garden , for $6.99 it was. Arrived exactly at 11am. The host was too busy checking in late servers, still wearing their coats to acknowledge us, not even making eye contact, finally he says, how many, without looking up. . . . .. . .. .. I wait for his full attention and request a Table with chairs please. of course the gal took us to a booth Arrival C- A Wonderful server bounced on the scene. at 11:10, asked for our drink order, which we provided & also ordered the Soup / Salad Special. Quickly she provided our beverages, a Large Filled Bowl of Salad & two very hot bowls of ZUPPA TUSCANA ! she was sweet & charming and brought us 2 salad refills & 2 soup refills & a box to take our breadsticks home we also had the Minestrone & the Chicken / Gnocci soup Service A+ 20 % tip Food A

Great service....food was ok. Certainly not authentic Italian. The salad my wife had was really great. The food looks declicious, but it's not really. Pretty dried up tasting. While not overly pricely, pricey enough to expect something very tasty - and this was not. I know that a lot of people like this place, but IMO it's just not worthy. We wont' be going back. There are too many great Italian restaurants around to waste time and money on this place.

Let me tell you about our experience! Craving the spaghetti on a rainy Monday night....took the family out, thinking we would have a nice pleasant experience-NOT! Our night consisted of rude, dirty restaurant, dirty sweaty looking servers, dirty glasses, warm salad, and rude management-his clothes were even dirty. We had other servers come to our table and grab the salt/pepper shaker without acknowledging us; only to replace them after they refilled them-slamming them onto our table while we were eating our entrees-again not acknowledging us! Horrible service!!!! For an average of $15 dollar entrees, this is awful customer/dinning experience! Even upon on my family leaving the restaurant-the manager was standing at the podium in the lobby, and said not one word to us-just stared! This location has defiantly gone down in service, and management needs to open their eyes. Maybe it's this particular manager the night of my visit; but judging by the previous reviews-most worse then good-the proof is here! I would never come back to this location, and probably be careful of others in the future! Ps...To go into the parking lot, and notice the cooks/servers (about 6) by the back door smoking, left another bad taste of disgust! I'm a smoker-but lets be professional about it!

My first visit at Olive Garden. Let's just say it's not what I expected. The food was beyond mediocre and bland. I'm being honest the food had no flavor. I was kind of mad too that I paid a lot for something that wasn't worth the price. If anyone knows any authentic Italian places to go to feel free to message me.

worst experience ever - the food is so bad!! I really don't get why this place is popular... just open the door and inhale the smell, it's just gross. One star for the good service. Poor guy cannot be blamed for the food.

It's Olive Garden so you know you're going to get a consistent meal at a decent price. Took my friend here for lunch on his birthday. The service was spot on. Actually our waiter was a bit overbearing and came back about 6 times to make sure we were OK and if we needed anything else. I guess that's better than a server who never comes to refill your drinks, check on you, etc. Had a coupon in my email for a free appetizer or desert. Our waiter took a quick glance at it and honored it despite the fact that it wasn't printed out. I thought that was pretty cool. My friend chose the black tie cheesecake for his birthday desert. It didn't disappoint. Not a bad choice for decent "Americanized" Italian.

I'm not much of a chain-restaurant kind of guy, but I have to admit, yesterday's evening meal was very good indeed. We arrived a little before 5pm on a Sunday afternoon. We were told there would be about a 10 minute wait and that's just about how long the wait was. The hostess showed us to our seat and our server, Cordell J., provided excellent service. Timing was impressive, food was excellent, empty plates were removed promptly, and the dining experience was pleasant all around. In spite of the people waiting to be seated, we never felt rushed in any way.

I guess my newest mission is to taste test all of the Olive Gardens that I can find. So, after a hair appointment on the east side I met my sister at the Olive Garden on Van Dyke in Warren, MI. Went in around 2:30 and no problem the hostess guided me to a table by the window. Nice restaurant, looked like other Olive Gardens. Ordered a glass of wine - the nice pour! and waited for my sister to get there. Waited about 2 whole minutes and voile' there she is! We ordered soup and salad which is basically all you can eat. What can I say it was delicious, this Olive Garden did not disappoint me! The waitress was superb and very attentive. Can't wait to go back so I can taste test their spaghetti with Italian Sausage - just writing this review is making me crave Olive Garden!!!

Gross. Bread sticks were salty, salad was good, even tho it clearly came out of a bag. The Roscatto wine was delicious! Server was nice. I got the asiago garlic Alfredo, it has huge cloves of garlic in it, I love garlic but that was gross. Everything about that pasta was gross.

Eh ordered take-out and got the lasagna Fritta well there was barely any marinara on it.. And I was sick the whole day after... It also seemed a little under cooked. Don't think I'll be going back anytime soon

We always come her for the soup, salad, and bread stick lunch. It's always fresh, hot, and the service is always great. The only time we had bad service, the manager took care of it. Highly recommended :)

I don't have a problem with Olive Garden, like personally or anything, and i'm not being a food snob, but this is NOT authentic Italian food.. O M G.... Gasp!!! What??? You're suprised!?? Oh please... people, please. What they do have is pork loin that tastes/chews like sawdust, and they REALLY have the lowdown on how to completely break a cream sauce. It's not supposed to be chunky cream AND butter, just an FYI. For soup and salad and a complete lack of any other restaurants in a 5 mile radius, then sure, it's ok. But I can make salad and bread sticks at home. Now that they and a few other chains are doing this 2 for $25 deal, it really pisses me off to know just how much they were overcharging before... /Italiano-NOOOO!!

What a shame. Maybe our first time was abnormal, because this just was insane. The employees walking around, one counting money...weird. All tables were dirty. Just...weird. Didn't get served for over ten minutes. When our waitresses finally arrived, it was unapologetic and slow. I don't know what to say. If I didn't previously give this place a one, I'd have given it a one star now. However, at the end they finally made up some of their issues -- they removed half our bill, and gave us a carry-out for one of the soups they continually said they had but then came back to say they didn't. Their speed started increasing (I'd hope so, considering it took over 20 minutes to get our first breadstick!), and by the end I was satisfied with our lunch. It was just so shocking to see how long soup/salad/breadsticks took to order. In the end, I was going to give it a two, but their willingness to make it up on the back end had me give them an extra star. And I think 3 star is pretty much where Olive Garden deserves to be.

The food was delicious n our server Mindy n Star were absolutely wonderful. So if u go to this location ask to b seated n either Mindy o Star's section n u will get excellent service. Also the cocktails they have now r scrumptious n I'm not a big drinker. But my Peach Bellini n my husband had a unique twist on a Moscato w/ yummy blueberries. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the buy 1 take 1 menu was EXTREMELY LIMITED. That was a huge disappointment ,but everything else was great

Typical chain restaurant. Food was good, service was good. Atmosphere okay. Now to the part that earned them 3 stars: the bathroom! Ok, gross, gross, gross. The floors we nasty and sticky. I'm not sure I want to know what made it stickys. It looked like someone had not cleaned the floors in a month. If they can't tend to the bathroom, what are the chances the kitchen is clean?

We have been all through Metro Detroit but not through Warren. Warren is one of the larger cities but does not offer much for shopping, or historical attractions but we wanted to check it out after a day at Somerset in Troy since this Olive Garden was only about 10 minutes away. Off topic Warren does not have charm of other Metro cities but this Olive Garden seemed to be busy, we were trying to figure out where all the traffic came from, The building was nice, it was old and seemed to have been there forever! The services was above average, but waiting times were fairly slow. The bread and salad were great, I enjoyed the Spaghetti and Meatballs as well, but this is the first time and Olive Garden served Meat Sauce, I would prefer just regular sauce since I am having meatballs. I found this a good location, I have been to better and worse Olive Gardens. We would go back to this location if we were right in the area but would not make a special trip just for this location.

I use to go frequently with my grandmother, and rarely had a bad experience! Friendly staff that is always accommodating. The food has always been up to par, but only 4 stars because it has been just OK compared to other olive gardens.

Soup and salad with a group of my friends... What a nice way to spend an afternoon. They have some kind of mixed greens in the salad now and I'm allergic to something in those "Mixed greens" salads, so I'll probably just stick with the chicken ceasar from now on because it's made with romaine lettuce. Our server was pleasant and only messed up by not giving my friend her soup while the rest of us were having our salads. The soup was with an entree and should have come before the main meal. She had to sit there and watch the rest of us eat. Finally, she told the server that she forgot to bring out her soup and the server replied, "I wanted to bring all the soup at the same time." I guess she just didn't understand that it wasn't right to serve my friend ... nothing... while the rest of us were eating. Other than that everything was perfect.

I'm not a fan of national chain restaurants, but we came here for a family dinner. My expectations were pretty low. We had 6 adults, a toddler & a baby in our party. They wouldn't take reservations or even let my parents call ahead. They got there about 45 minutes early (3:15) so that we'd be seated by 4pm. This place was packed & had a pretty good crowd in the waiting area. The bar area was not busy at all. It was a little chilly in there so maybe that's part of the reason. There were plenty of open tables but no wait staff. I guess if you want to order anything, you need to go to the bar. Drinks are really overpriced! $6.25 for Cavit Pinot Grigio & $2.75 for a Coke. I expect to pay $6 or more for a glass of wine even for relatively inexpensive wine but Cavit is really cheap! I think our waiter used to work at TGIF's or Bennigan's and sounded just like Seth Rogen. He tried way too hard to be funny & overly casual with us. We weren't biting & he just didn't get the hint. He tried to push another bourbon drink for my stepdad a couple of times, who told him "No" every time and kept forgetting to refill my husband's Coke. He called me, "Pinot Grigio Lady" when taking my order. O-K. The jokes & failed attempt to banter became awkward. Every time someone came to our table, we were asked if everything tasted "amazing", or some other over-the-top adjective. Ugh. We took advantage of the 2 for $25 deal. All I can say is....you get what you pay for. The food wasn't horrible but it was what I expected. There was a little fly swarming around our table at the bar, and another one swarming around our table in the dining area. I am not sure what their policy is for groups, but gratuity was automatically added. I think it's kind of odd that they won't take reservations for 6 or more but they add gratuity to the bill. Maybe that's not uncommon. ::shrugs::

I was really disappointed with my visit today. It's my third time visiting, and while my precious visits have been 4 stars, today the Alfredo sauce was water. I sent it back and the waitress came back with a new portion, the sauce just as watery, and explained that they make their sauce for the day, so that was all they had. She smiled and left me with yet another watery dish. Not happy.

I went to Olive Garden this weekend.. I didn't want to post until I thought about it, I honestly hate being so open and honest when it comes restaurant because I know it hurt people's feelings I've been to this restaurant twice the first time absolutely horrendous the second time this food was amazing,, the waitresses and the bartender very rude, they did offend me by not smiling or being unapproachable,, they were both very rude just my opinion,, FYI they're both women,

Great food. Dawn provided great service. Staff was friendly and management came to our table to check on us. By far one of the best Darden restaurants I've been to. If in north warren check them out you won't be disappointed.

I've eaten lunch here several times and my experience has generally been about the same. The interior is not kept very clean. I can always smell leftover dishwashing/cleaning fluid in the eating area which annoys me and reminds me of school cafeterias, and the utensils, tables, and chairs always feel a bit grimy. I've also seen flies flying around on multiple occasions, which ruins the whole experience. As for the food, the never-ending soup/salad is a good deal, except the soups are always extremely salty and rich. The food always tastes like it came from Sysco, and there aren't any entrees or meals that really stand out or want me to come back to Olive Garden. Bottom line is that the food is standard fare, either really bland or overly salt/processed like it came from Sysco.

First time I've been to Olive Garden in years! Enjoyed a very good lunch yesterday... Tour of Italy entree (chicken parmesan, lasagna and fettucini alfredo). The chicken parmesan was EXCELLENT, and highly recommend. I was disappointed with the lasagna as it tasted very salty! Very good service and she kept coming back to see if we needed anything. I work several doors down from this location but as I mentioned, I haven't been to any Olive Garden in years but will visit again soon during actual lunch hours.

If I could rate less than one star, I would. After I had eaten, I placed the remainder of my order into a box, and continued conversing with my family, and next thing I know....where's my box? I ended up getting that replaced, but when I got my bill, it claimed 18% gratuity, but last time I checked, 18% of $38 is NOT $9.50. Do the math. I complained and had it sorted out, but I will not be returning to ANY Olive Garden anywhere. Way too much trouble for mediocre food.

I'm giving this Olive Garden 2 stars and it is not a reflection of the food or service, but a reflection of the manager who was on duty on Sunday. I arrived in Warren late Sunday evening. My hotel is a few doors down from this restaurant so I decided to go there since it was late and I hadn't eaten dinner. I was seated immediately and my server was very friendly. I knew what I wanted and ordered the chicken parmesan with angel hair pasta. The food was brought out quickly and I didn't have to wait long at all. I ate only half of my food and decided to box up the rest and bring it back to the hotel. My server brought the check and that is when I realized that I left my wallet in the front seat of my rental car. I had to get my ID out when I went through the gate at the rental car facility and forgot to put it back in my purse. I told my server that I had to run to my car to get my wallet and that I would be right back. As I approached the door, the manager stopped me and told me that once I left, I could not come back in. I was really confused by this and responded, "What??" He said that it was Olive Garden policy not to let anyone back in after closing time. I asked what time they closed and he said 10:00. I looked at my phone and it was 10:00 on the dot. I told him that I forgot my wallet in my car and if they wanted me to pay for my meal, that I would have to go get it. He shook his head no and said that was their policy. He asked if I had another form of payment and I said no, both my credit cards and my cash were in my wallet. He insisted they would not be able to let me back in -- even though you could see my car from the entrance! I asked him what he expected me to do and he said, "Well I guess you're not going to be able to pay for the meal and we'll eat the cost. Dinner is on us tonight." I felt really uncomfortable about this and even worse about not being able to leave a tip for my server. I apologized, went to my car, got my wallet, and went to the door. My server saw me and I slid some money inside the door and told her it was for her. She was able to pull it through without opening the door. The manager saw this and seemed angry. The whole thing was EXTREMELY bizarre!! I had every intention of paying for my meal and leaving a tip, but this man would just not budge and would not allow me to return with my wallet. I guess if you're looking for a free meal, go here Sunday night at 9:30 and "forget" your wallet in your car. They certainly won't allow you back inside to pay -- at least not if this guy is the manager on duty! Pretty ridiculous if you ask me.

In a battle royale featuring myself and any all-you-can eat option at a restaurant, I always win. Things were no different this past week when I dominated many bowls of soup, many bowls of salad and all-I-could-eat bread sticks at the local Olive Garden. Service was fast during the lunch hour and my group and I were in and out in under an hour - an ideal time for anyone on a tight work lunch. Salad was quality and the bread sticks were warm. The only drawback was the chicken gnocchi soup which was very watery and incredibly difficult to eat. I would be lying if I told you I didn't spill any on the table. And my shirt. Also, I spilled salad on the table. And my shirt. So I guess you could say I am sort of a trainwreck. However, my shirt now smells like italian dressing. So by scorekeeping, that's Jon 2, Olive Garden 0.

Went to this location with a reservation the day prior to take friends from out of town out to dinner. We had a group of 14 (11 adults and 3 young children) First off, they sat us at two large round tables even after I insisted we would wait for one large table. Unfortunately, we were told they could not accommodate our group. So, we separated and sat at the two tables. I ordered a Chicken Ceaser Salad and the chicken was cold, hard, dry and mushy breading. Absolutely horrible. You can tell the chicken or entire salad was prepared one or two days prior. Several of our platters were cold and a few of us did not eat much. I asked for the manager and told him I can get a better chicken Ceaser salad at Mcdonalds and also stressed my dislike about them putting us at two tables. He apologized and wanted to buy my meal and all of our drinks but I told him money is not the issue and if this is what you serve I will pay and consider it a lesson learned and never visit an Olive Garden again. Went to Bucadebepo on Hall road recently and I must say this place was able to accommodate our large party and the food was awesome. This is now our Italian of choice for large party's.

We had some awesome service today!! Which we do for, the last couple times we had a crappy guy server! The food was great, bread sticks were fresh, salad was dressed perfectly and the soup was full of goods. The waitress Amy, was on the top of her game. She talked us into some yummy little mini desserts, the Limocello was the best! The wife and I would like to thank her for making our Anniversary lunch together enjoyable.

Oh, Olive Garden! How I will always cherish you! I know that mentioning the OG is a quick way to identify a food snob--they will usually shun it or make a petty comment about a bad experience, supporting the local businesses, or their disdain for restaurants named after gardens. I have no problem supporting local businesses or with restaurants named after gardens and actually think the food at the OG is superior to most other Italian offerings in the area. Long before I was a server at Red Lobster, a Darden affiliate, I enjoyed dining at the OG. I have always found the food to be flavorful and enjoy that meals are served with your choice of soup or salad (bonus points for having a Vegetarian friendly soup!), and breadsticks. During high school my friends and I would frequent the Eastpointe location on half days for lunch. I think the good people of Darden know what the public wants have come up with some good recipes that have a mass market appeal. Since moving to Royal Oak and now Oak Park this Olive Garden is now the closest option for when the craving comes calling. Sometimes there is a wait--but most typically on a weekend evening during peak business hours--as one should expect. The restaurant layout is interesting with a bar tucked to one side and a large open dining room with three separate areas surrounding it. Service has always been friendly though once I ordered fettucini and was served spaghetti and the server didn't address it. When I questioned them they seemed puzzled. I guess noodle shaped are hard to identify for some people? Every other time though that I have visited the service has been right on par. Other things that are great about the OG include their 25 cent wine samples. For one quarter you can get a one ounce pour of any wine and it benefits charity! One ounce may not seem like a lot but if you don't want a full glass it's a nice taste to complement a Dr. Pepper. Also, it let's you taste a few options so when you're shopping for vino at the store you have a little more knowledge. I also love the back to school time feature of the Never Ending Pasta Bowl. It may be my favorite restaurant promotion ever. For like $8.00 you can eat as much as you want and you can mix and match sauces and noodle shapes! Who could ask for anything more? I would highly recommend the Eggplant Parmigiana or the Manicotti Formaggio as dinners. Usually I ordered one or the other, but I'm a creature of habit. The few times I have delved into dessert I have also enjoyed the Tiramisu or the Pumpkin Cheesecake (which is seasonal). Once at Red Lobster we were shipped one of the OG Lemon Cakes and that was pretty fantastic as well. I will gladly admit I like the Olive Garden; now and forever I will be a fan. Maybe I should send it a Hallmark card?

Typical chain restaurant: small portions, bland flavor and horribly overpriced for what you get. Italian food is cheap to prepare--they're not fooling me. Try a real mom and pop Italian restaurant; this ersatz fare is a pretender. Sad.

We arrived @ 7:20, expecting to see an 8:30 movie. We grabbed a drink at the bar, then by the time the server got to out table we were ready to order. At 8pm we asked to box up our appetizer, and were told the dinners would be right out. Well, 20 minutes go by, the table next us got the wrong order, all their drinks were empty, as were ours. We were disgusted at this point and lost our appetites. I pointed out to the manager that although the server was very nice and personable, that if you look around at her 6 table section, dirty plates were piled up, waters and drinks were empty, and my date would have had another glass of wine. She thanked my for pointing it out. Never asked what is he drinking, and got it for us, she went and got the server. I appreciate our appetizer being comped, but we left without eating out dinner. Step up as a manager and grab a water pitcher and a drink refill rather than thanking me for pointing it all out.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
