Nearby for business, and my co-worker suggested Lenny's for lunch. Sometimes nothing is better than a good sub sandwich, and Lenny's is GOOD! Fresh baked bread, fresh & freshly sliced meats, lots of veggies, and BACON! My tummy was happy with my choice of the Club sandwich. Add a little bag of chips and I was content! Sometimes all you need are the basics executed extremely well! Looking forward to adding Lenny's to list of repeat visits whenever I'm in the area and need lunch!

I've been just once but it's one of my favorite sub shops now. I had the chicken salad sub and it tasted very fresh. The bread was the perfect consistency. Not too thick or thin and was soft with a little bit of crunch on the outside. Can't wait to try the hot relish next time.

Slap some meat on some soft bread and here you go. Im very sure I wont come back.

Hot pepper relish. That's what makes this place so good. Don't like hot things? Take a chance. get it on the side, just get it. It's what makes this place go from "just another sub shop" to "this is burning my lips but I Cant Stop Eating It!"

I'm not from Philly and i"ve never really gone after a "Philly Cheesesteak" because IMO that's something that I would want to get to Philly and get, right? Makes sense to me. This lil' ditty of a review is for my buddy Ron C... and for sandwich lovers everywhere!! Rejoice!! I went with Ron's suggestion, the Philly Cheesesteak. They offer a number of different hot and cold subs. He also raved about the "hot" relish which I was excited and nervous about... I got a "Regular" which is 7.5" long! I got this sucker as is, loaded to the gills. "Grilled Onions?"--yep "Lettuce and Tomato?"--yep "Hot Relish?" --on the side I wanted to try it for sure, but i'm SOOOOOOO sensitive to hot stuff, you guys, and I didn't want to ruin the review (or the sandwich) if it was overwhelming to me. I got there and it wasn't busy. This wasn't surprising though, as it was 2:30pm. I walked in and got a rousing "Hi! Welcome to Lenny's!!" from the 3 workers that were cleaning and doing some "downtime" stuff. My order was ready and I got the combo. Combo comes with a bag of chips OR a homebaked cookie and a drink. Lenny's does their own chips too, plain, BBQ, sour cream and onion, and a couple different types; regular, kettle cooked and baked. Total was just under $8.00. I was SO excited when I got to my desk ya'll!! I felt like a kid on Christmas morning!! I took the wrapped parcel from the bag and the first thing I notice is how heavy it is! I open it up, and the smell hits me and i'm like "oh... WOW...this is gonna be GOOD." And it was... sooooo good!! I couldn't believe how soft the bread was but how well it held up to that meaty cheesy oniony goodness! It was overflowing with tomatoes and dripping melty cheese, and IT WAS HUGE! I'm 5'1" and weigh about 130, not a very big girl, but I attacked this sandwich like a construction worker!! the cup of hot relish is sitting on my desk, begging me to try it. I take a little forkful and WOOOOOOOOOOOO that shit hit me like a bolt of lightning!! But something crazy happened. I couldn't stop... eating the relish. After the initial blaze in my mouth calmed down, i tried a little scoop on a bite of sandwich. It didn't taste as hot on my tongue, but the more i ate, the warmer I became!! So there I am, eating this gigantic sandwich, scooping hot relish on each bite, and beading sweat from my forehead... and I loved every second of it!!! I think they should re-label the relish "Crack for Sandwiches" I think it is more fitting. I ate almost that whole damn sandwich, and the only thing that stopped me was I just couldn't fit another bite in!! Within minutes of me finishing all that I could eat, two of my coworkers came over and begged me to tell them where this place was so they could try it!! So, Ron C. thank you, thank you, thank you!! I think maybe i'll try the chicken next... or maybe the Italian.. or Roast Beef... or maybe just another Cheesesteak... or....

I've heard lots of good things about this place. So my wife and I decided to give it a try. Bad idea. The first thing was that I asked for my sub on WHITE and got it on WHEAT! That wouldn't be so bad, but it drives me insane when someone waits on me, doesn't write down my order - then gets it wrong. It's just plain stupid. So while my wife ate, I waited for another sub. After my wait etc., I got my sub. I ordered an Italian. Sounds simple. It was blank as could be. It had enough meat, and the bread was ok. But the sandwich lacked pizzazz. I'd rate Tubby's way way better than this place - and I'm no big fan of Tubby's. The sub I got was a regular size and it was really big - I must say that. This was my first and last visit to Lenny's. My advice is save you money and go somewhere else.

So simple, yet so good. Hot pressed sub sandwiches made with fresh, yummy bread and oozing with cheese.

Awesome sandwiches. They thin slice EVERYTHING on the spot for you when you order a sandwich, so it's always fresh and tasty. They have the usual lunchmeats, italians, tuna salad, as well as meatball subs and cheesesteaks. Their homemade cookies rock too.

Let me jump aboard the "I love this place" bandwagon. Knowing its a chain usually means consistency but also means mediocre-Hi Subway, Tubbys, and Jimmy Johns. I stopped in earlier this week looking for a Philly cheese steak (Regina's review). I wouldn't say this is a true Philly. So lets say its a really damn good steak sub. Every thing about it was good. 8 bucks for a nice size sub, chips and a Coke. I learned after making a second appearance this week for a turkey club, that the pepper relish really is great. Tangy, bit of kick and really makes the sandwich. Staff is quick and friendly and I'm really impressed with how fresh the food was both times. I'm guessing it has to be because both times there were huge lines but with that said the wait wasn't bad at all.

Truly the King of Fresh Subs in Metro Detroit ! The Steak & Cheese is 'Legendary" and the Hot Pepper Relish alone is worthy of 5 stars they even sells jars of the Relish , which I have used as gifts for my friends with TASTE! located at 12 & Mound North West Corner in Restaurant Row...

After reading the other reviews and finally trying Lenny's, it is apparent that people are simply picky about their subs. I wasn't blown away by Lenny's like the other reviewers; but the Italian sub I had was decent. I would probably eat there again, but suffice it to say I was expecting more. I would have given Lenny's three stars, but the customer service could certainly improve. The staff was rather inattentive during my visit and seemed more interested in blathering about work gossip than actually serving the customers. To me, this isn't a diamond in the rough like other reviewers led me to believe.

Whoa. Lenny's is good. Very good. So good, it trumps the cheesesteak I'd drive 50 miles for (Izzy's in Ann Arbor). I went at lunch, and it was PACKED! Meat sliced to order, fresh bread, nice looking toppings and really reasonable prices. I got the cheesesteak, of course, and it was REALLY good. Tender, really flavorful beef, melty provolone cheese and lots of onions. The onions weren't obliterated in cooking, so there was still some crunch - which was nice. The bread was good, but lacked personality. I was really impressed. I will be back...

Friendly service, fresh baked bread, lunch meat sliced to order. I'm a fan of the club with mayo and hot pepper relish. Go in now and you get a free frequent cusomer card, that gets you a free sub!

The things they said were true. These sandwiches are good! I had a veggie sub with extra prov instead of swiss, no onions, no vinegar. Other than the bread being a bit too soft for my liking and the loaf being entirely cut in half instead of just cut in like a sub normally is, this has to be the best sandwich I have ate prepared outside of a home. Also, it was super fast! I came during lunch time too. The place was PACKED. Luckily there wasn't a line though. Just over five bucks for a pretty damn good sandwich. If I'm around there again and hungry, you better believe I'll be stopping by.

I just stopped in this place for lunch. I'm going to go ahead and say that this was probably the best chain store sub you can get in this area. People are comparing them to other sub shops but there really is no comparing this place to others when it comes to chains. But I am going to compare anyway: Bigger sub for the price than any chain I have been to, better tasting than Subway Italian, Tubby's is garbage, Quizno's is garbage, who the hell has ever had Mr. Tony's?, Blimpie is garbage that sounds like something you do with your girlfriend, Jimmy John's Gargantuan is the only thing that comes close. If you do not agree with me you can GIT OUT! I got the Italian. When I saw that the large was 10 dollars I thought maybe it's just an expensive place. But then I got the sub and I was like HOLY SHIT! That sucker was about 15 feet long. I ate it for lunch and dinner. That som' bitch was 2 MEALS! And it was the perfect amount of meat and veggies. The Pepper Relish was the bees knees. It was just a great experience. I will be back and I recommend 'dat shit.

Lenny's Subs The is my second time to Lenny's, the first time I was here I got the Philly Steak and it was a great sub. This time around I got the Italian. If the Italian sub was a knockout I was going to raise my rating to a 5. I'm sticking with my 4.25 stars on this and here's why: The Italian sub here is good. The meat and cheese is sliced fresh and you can tell it is when you eat it. That is a plus, the freshness of this sub can't be denied. Have you ever had a Blimpy Italian sub? The meat is sliced fresh too but like the Blimpy there are no standout flavors. The Hot ham, spicy salami, sesame seed bun, banana peppers and italian dressing of the Buscemi's sub make it standout (if they heat it in an oven it stands out even more) btw is Buscemi's putting less meat (or thinner slices) on their subs the past few years? The American swiss, bologna, diced onion & signature dressing make the Tubby's Famous special (grilling it,adding bananna peppers or having it on their cheese bread gives extra accents as well) Even with the hot relish this sub did not pop like other subs that are indigenous to Michigan. Speaking of Michigan Italian subs, what happened to Mr. Tony's subs? (you can get them at Sorrento's pizza) they don't taste the same (or as good) as they did 25 some years ago! In conclusion: Lenny's Philly Steak sub is 5 stars, the Italian sub is good w/ fresh meat & cheese 3.5 Stars 4.25 Stars overall

There are only four Lenny's Sub Shop locations in all of Michigan and only one resides in the greater Detroit area. Good Lord Lenny, you are my Mecca for a sub fix. No longer will I waste my time with Subway and it's Italian BMT, for your Italian Sub has shown me the light and made me a worship at your bright blue counter. As your kind and friendly staff hand slices the ingredients of my sub before my very eyes, my mouth will water as I await my Provolone, Ham, Prosciutto, Capicola and Genoa Salami torpedo of deliciousness to grace my lips and slobbering tongue. I love that you add the shredded lettuce, oil, tomato, salt, pepper oregano pickle and that oh so addictive hot pepper relish as gratis and that you have convenient combos. I love your homemade chips and cookies. I've tasted many a meatball, Philly Cheesesteak and roast beef subs in my day, but for me, nothing beats your shop. I like that the whole staff greets me hello when I walk through the door, that you don't have garbage cans sitting out in the dining area because your workers take the time to bus the tables and wipe them down regularly. You're the cleanest, quality sub chain I've ever had the pleasure of dining with. You're so pro, I sometimes forget you're a chain at all, and that makes you a five-star in my book. See you next week for another trip to drool town. Love, Your friend Dan

Straight up? I love Lenny's. I have no reason to be on that side of town, and will make the special trip when I'm craving a great sub. The freshly sliced meats and simple toppings truly make their sandwiches. Oh yeah, and they have Mr. Pibb!! Most excellent.

I picked it up one night after work, it was a very good sandwich (I believe it was a standard club). You could taste the freshness in each bite (lunch meat sliced to order). They are made to order and the prices were right. I will definitely be back. A great healthy alternative.

I used to eat here at least once a week when I worked in Warren, but now still make the occasional trip even though it's about an hour round trip. The bread is as fresh as you could want, the meat is sliced in front of your eyes, and the service is really friendly. The hot pepper relish is a nice addition as well. Forget all of the other sandwich chains, this is the place to go.

GREAT sandwich! Had the roast beef and provolone...SO good. The bread was fresh, meat and cheese were thin sliced and toppings were very good...could have had more - that is why they fell one star short. I also had Lenny's sour cream and cheddar chips....the best I've had : )

This place is pretty good. They made good sandwiches, both hot and cold. Definitely would recommend it for a quick lunch. Oh, and their lemonade is very good.

Great subs. Made to order, no prepackaged meat, it is cut fresh, like at a deli. My # 1 pick for subs.
(5)
John C.
Haven't been in awhile because I now live 30 minutes away. I was craving the hot pepper relish yesterday, so I took a friend over today since we were in the area and we both liked what we ordered, a blt and roast beef sandwich. They offer all the basics plus others. In my opinion, the hot pepper relish is what sets them apart from jimmy johns, subway or another sandwich place.
(5)
Blake W.
Probably my all time favorite sub shop. I have not had a bad sub yet. The hot Italian is a must have with their hot pepper relish. If you are a sub person you have to try this place. Fair warning though you might get addicted.

Great sub. Hot pepper relish sauce dam tasty. the two sided post card menu is a touch busy. I will be going back for more
(5)
Candiss W.
Lenny's is a decent sub shop. I know people are diehard fans, but the subs tend to be a bit soggy for my taste. The juice/grease soaked through the bread on every single sub that I've gotten from here. On the bright side, the meat tends to be well seasoned and the toppings are pretty good. Decent.
(3)
Priya K.
Decided to try this place since it's close to work. Decent sub place. I recommend the red pepper relish. It makes the Italian sub even more delicious. I will definitely be going back.
(4)
Michael W.
Just a normal sub shop, don't know why people rave about it nothing really stands out to me as outstanding. If you sit down to eat, they call out your name, so once you order and pay grab a seat and listen for your name.
(3)
Lee W.
Horribly bad and overpriced pink slime. The quality of subway is much higher which is sad. Expect about $12 for a sub, or about double what you'd pay at most other sub shops for the same meal. I threw 90% of it away after a few bites that I couldn't swallow. The meat was pure slime and had the texture of highly processed junk.
(1)
Pkash P.
Food is delicious! The hot pepper relish is great on all the subs! Philly cheesesteak and the hot italian are by far the best!

Great subs. Made to order, no prepackaged meat, it is cut fresh, like at a deli. My # 1 pick for subs.

Probably my all time favorite sub shop. I have not had a bad sub yet. The hot Italian is a must have with their hot pepper relish. If you are a sub person you have to try this place. Fair warning though you might get addicted.

Decent.

Decided to try this place since it's close to work. Decent sub place. I recommend the red pepper relish. It makes the Italian sub even more delicious. I will definitely be going back.

Just a normal sub shop, don't know why people rave about it nothing really stands out to me as outstanding. If you sit down to eat, they call out your name, so once you order and pay grab a seat and listen for your name.

Food is delicious! The hot pepper relish is great on all the subs! Philly cheesesteak and the hot italian are by far the best!
