Well, it's been a LONG time since we've been here. Was craving a hot roast beef sandwich & hubby remembered this place! Food was good enough... Service, meh. Sat for a while before being greeted by server. Placed order, never asked if we wanted drinks. We had to request drinks!!! Bad, bad, bad! We were never offered bread basket like tables around us. My dinner came with cooked carrots & I asked for butter. That's when we got a breadbasket.... Straight off the table behind us that still had people at it! Um, seriously?? That's against health code violations to reserve breadbaskets. Yes, there was a roll in a plastic bag still in it!!! Not good at all! Plus, our dinner & mozz sticks came practically at same time. Sadly, not sure we will return. I hope management sees this! That's a very serious health code violation!!!

Like another reviewer mentioned, this place has low prices. The majority of the "served before 11:00 AM" breakfast specials are less than $4.00! One special, that I had this morning, consisted of two egs, two large homemade potato pancakes, three strips of bacon or three sausage and two slices of toast for $3.45. The potato pancakes are awesome with bits of onion and chive and are a great combination with the eggs. I haven't tried anything other than breakfast here but if breakfast is any indication of the rest of the menu items they ought to be pretty good, too.

I ate there tonight for dinner. I ordered the gyro and rice dinner. I had the cabbage soup to start off. It was luke warm and tasted ok. The gyro meat was salty and the flavor was good. The cook forgot to make the rice, so I had to wait for it. I was half done with my gyro when the rice arrived. The sauce was so salty that i could not eat it. My Daughter ordered the spinach and cheese pie. She said that it tasted cheesy. It tasted more like a spinach souffle. She also had the rice and she could not eat it as well. We won't be going there any time soon.

My food was delicious and cooked exactly like I wanted it, the atmosphere was great and the waitresses were very polite. I used to go to Big Boy's all the time out of convenience, but time after time the service was poor and the cooked your food "the way the cooked it", not how you wanted it! The waitresses acted like they were doing you a favor! Well, Big Boys has seen the last of me. I'm with Country Oven from now on.

The owners are absolutely great with the customers. My group eats here every Tuesday. The food is very good and you can't beat their prices. I eat off the senior menu for a half portion. They allow anyone including my grandchildren to order the half orders. This makes dining out frequently very affordable. I gave the country oven 5stars because even if you get the occasional waitress that doesn't represent the owners, we have eaten there enough to know the owners take the customers side and deal with issues that might come up. 99% of the service is great.

Jake and I caught a decent breakfast here after buying a car in BFE. The waitress was friendly and she kept our cups full throughout our visit. They have a good menu, but we were stuck on breakfast. I got sausage patties with my breakfast and they were cooked to hell, with no moisture to be seen. I only ate a couple bites because they were just too dry. A huge complaint: saying "farm fresh eggs" on the menu, then proceeding to serve us liquid eggs. I used to work at a restaurant, I know artificial/"liquid egg product". They were rubbery and bright yellow. Definitely not "farm fresh eggs." Pretty misleading. If you're not gonna serve real eggs, PLEASE don't go out of your way to label every egg on the menu "farm fresh". A decent, cheap, friendly place for breakfast but if you're picky about eggs, skip Country Oven.

Country Oven proudly boasts "home cooking" right on the sign when you pull in - so I was expecting nothing less... but also expecting no frills. Luckily for me, that's exactly what I got with prices that were suspiciously cheap. But, we'll get to that in a little bit... Inside this place kind of feels like the set of Golden Girls - or another retirement community. Instead of nice furniture though they've replaced it all with booths. The wallpaper and paintings hung everywhere are straight off the set of Golden Girls. It works, because that's a large portion of the people you'll be eating alongside. They even treat you like family here. At least the host did - he treated us like in-laws as soon as we walked in. "2? You wanna eat upstairs?" to which replied, "Sure." His response was, "Okay, go on up," and came after us about 2 minutes later with the menus. It wasn't a big deal, we're capable of picking out our own table but if we're waiting to be seated... I dunno, I kind of thought I would be seated. It was just an awkward exchange anyway. The waitress was nice and friendly. Full of "down home" stereotypes. It looked like a lot of the women who were waitresses there have been doing this job for a majority of their lives. Probably at this establishment. But none of them seemed to be really old, which was good. I don't like it when I feel like my grandma is my waitress. Like I mentioned earlier, prices here are suspiciously cheap. For dinner I ordered two chicken breasts which came with my choice of soup, salad, or coleslaw; vegetables on the side; and my choice of potato (french fries, baked, or mashed). My price was only $7.25 AFTER tax. My buddy ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs that came with all my same side choices for under $10. The cooking was nothing special, not worth mentioning as stellar but it definitely wasn't crap. Let's be honest, it'd be kind of hard to screw up the items on this menu anyway - it's all typical fare for your homestyle restaurants. Except I did notice a gyro on the menu which I'll have to try and update y'all on in the future. You better believe I'll return here. The prices alone make it a worthy stop on nights when you don't feel like cooking but want a nice warm meal that doesn't come out of the microwave. Hell, I think the prices alone give it the 4 star rating - so there it is. Stop in, get some cheap grub, and have your gut full. Now that's a deal.
