I love the Veal Scallopini. I ask them to add capers and they do it. In my opinion, it is one of the best veal dishes in Detroit. My Wife loves their White Fish. The bread and white bean salad are welcome additions to a great salad. The only knocks are that they don't have My Wife's Favorite: Dalwhinnie single malt whisky, and their Martini's are the largest, so you should only have one, 2 at most.

To sum up my experience: Very good food but a poor dining experience. We went on a Tuesday night and waited almost 45 minutes for a table. The place is very clubby and it seemed like the regulars had reservations and were seated rather quickly. We were seated in the main dining room near the bar. The noise level was incredibly uncomfortable; the waitress had to yell to take our order and we yelled back. The acoustics in the room seemed to amplify rather then dampen the sound. I had the antipasto salad (chopped and tossed) which looked beautiful when served (rather impressive since salads usually look boring. My only complaint is that the blue cheese (not a usual ingredient in an antipasto salad) completely overpowered the dish. The house vinaigrette was excellent. My companions had the Rainbow Trout (one of the restaurant's specialties) and the veal. Both were very good. The menu, however, was extremely limited and seemed a bit pricy for the area. Frankly, I couldn't get past the noise level. We could not carry on a normal conversation during dinner. It is a shame because the food was good.

Hidden Gem Pleasantly surprised! I had the Aglio Olio, which was a very large portion and quite good. He had the Italian sausage and peppers. I enjoy the dark booth corner. The ambience is nice and seems like your eating in candlelight.

We love their New York strip steak, garlic bread, white beans, salmon, and more.

Amazing food!! The chefs are excellent and the waitstaff is friendly, punctual, and knowledgeable. They're packed on weekends and food is always prompt. An excellent choice for anyone looking for great food and fine dining any day of the week, but especially date night.

Well I am giving 3 stars mainly for the drinks. But let me start out by saying that we went here on a Saturday night and had to wait almost 2 hours for our table. The place was packed and the staff seemed super stressed. We waited around the bar and got drinks. I have never in my life seen a scotch poured in a tall water glass. It was filled all the way to the top (that equals about 6 scotches- LOL). They serve big huge glasses full of wine, but be careful because they are using wine that is in those big bottles from Costco. If you want a nice wine you will need to be very specific. Finally got seated and ordered the mussels marinara for our appetizer and it was pretty good. Really small mussels though. Entrees that were ordered were--Ribs, pork Chop, NY Strip and the Linguine with white clam sauce. Everyone also got a house salad that was pretty weak. Everyone in our party seemed to enjoy their food just fine. Mine was absolutely disgusting (see my picture). It did not have fresh clams, It was very oily with no flavor. Pasta was overcooked and the clams (there were very few) tasted like they also came from a can at Costco. This is a dish that needs to be served with fresh clams. The waitress seemed to be in a bad mood (I think because it was so busy). She didn't even say anything about my plate of food that I didn't eat. She just grabbed it and walked away. Well, I will probably come back again and maybe try something else to eat, but if not something to eat, something to drink.

Whenever I'm back in my old home town, I eat at Pepino's. (Suggestion: get there as soon as they open if you dislike waiting for a table.) Love the bread basket, the white bean salad appetizer, the amazing perch and whitefish. Bread pudding is supreme!

We love it here. The Perch is our favorite. The drinks are great too. Judith is the best waitress. The place gets crowded so get there early. Don Hu, Northville

Some of the best perch I have ever had. We were with a group of ten and several of us ordered the perch which was the special for the day. All of us ageed that it was exceptional. It was lightly breaded and pan fried just perfectly. Others ordered the fish and chips and enjoyed. My wife ordered the salmon and it was very tasty. All in all an excellent dinner. The service was outstanding by Jeremy. Sometimes there is a little wait to get in here, but it's worth the wait---especially if they have the perch that night.

Great old-school cocktails & dinner place - large bar - drinks are generous pours - martinis "up" are really cold & big - beware! Food is old-school Italian plus chops & fresh fish / seafood - portions are good size & tasty. The place is crowded on weekends, but you can put your name in, have a drink at the bar & your table is usually ready...this is a fun place where you get the feeling that everyone knows everyone else...service is always good & friendly! If you're looking for young, fab & snobby gourmet - this isn't it...if you're looking for food, drinks & fun - check it out!

I've been in here a few times. I've tryed a couple of different dishes. Food is ok, its average at best. The prices they charge are way to high for the quality that there serving you. The service is good and that's the only reason I would go back.

I wanted to give this place a chance but disappointed. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE ON A DATE! The parking lot needs to be repaired and upon coming to entrance you can hear pots & pans in the kitchen finally figured out which was the entry door walked in and the hallway had a mildew smell - yuck- the entire place is dated 1980's revisited - food just so so tasted like the fish was previously frozen didn't have the firm texture -maybe they make the drinks strong to compensate on the decor (the chairs are black banquet chairs- and vinyl coated fabric tablecloths) OMG the bathroom reminded me of a bar from college from the 80's - our server was not that friendly - if you are looking for strong drinks and plenty of bean salad this is the place for you! I won't be back- there are too many restaurants in this area - maybe the owners will read this and spend a few dollars and reinvest in some new decor and better quality fish -

I love this restaurant. The fish is great and Daniel loves the ribs there! The Trout and Lemon Sole is really good.

Forget it. Tried it for the first time after hearing it was worthwhile. It isn't. The place bills itself as an Italian restaurant, but they don't serve Peroni beer, and the antipasto salad was bizarre - blue cheese and cardboard tomatoes, no pepperoncini. Don't ask about the house salad dressing, it looks like and has the consistency of Elmers glue. The decor was fine - for 1970 perhaps. Diner-like furnishings do not justify the $15-25 entree prices. The management needs a wake-up call, there are an increasing number of much better dining options in the area.

We just moved into the area and a coworker suggested Pepinos. She loves it. But she also warned me that the place wasn't the nicest but the food was good and it was clean. Forget the food - go for the drinks. Holy smokes - I could only have 1 mixed drink because it was so strong. I think I was still tipsy the next day. So worth it! But beware, they do not have draft beer only bottles. Anyway - It felt like the Elks club, everyone knowing each other, playing bridge, chit chatting and then here comes new people. Lets all stare and stare and stare. We actually found it funny after awhile. She wasn't mistaken. The place is clean and my husband loved the seafood. I had the chicken and it was old but - the veggies, pasta and marina sauce were good. So a quick fix - remove the chicken and have a vegetarian pasta dish. Plus the chocolate cake Ala mode was to die for. Our waiter was great, friendly and knowledgeable. We definitely will be returning but more for the drinks and people watching thank anything else. I hear that once you go twice, you are part of the crowd. LOL

The best trout and lamb chops. Never had a bad meal here. Generous portions, good drinks and excellent service. Casual, friendly. The decor is not fancy, but the meal makes up for it. There is a reason why this place is always crowded. No reservations, but well worth the wait for an excellent meal.

The food tasted very good and the waitress was friendly and efficient (even boxes the leftovers for you). Additionally, the portions were more than adequate thus making the higher than average prices appear about fair. Good wine list too. This non-smoking restaurant got quite crowded (and a bit loud) on this Tuesday night! Note: Vegetarian selection is one that would encourage a person to be a one time diner rather than a repeat diner
(3)Doris M.
Snooty staff & so so food. Better dress up or they'll seat you in the corner!
(1)Dave B.
The trout and lamb chop entrees are to die for and Rick's Grande Marne margaritas are absolutely the best! Unpretentious place with the most consistently high quality food in town. The marinated beans and toasted garlic bread melt in your mouth. The mussels marinara appetizer is tantalizing. You won't be disappointed. Eat outside in the summer.
(5)Mark D.
Horrible place, very bad attitudes and food is so so at best. I would not ever go back we had such a bad experience and the manager starting arguing with us over it, keep away from this place, there are much better places to eat then this dive.
