Been so happy going here once in a while over the past few years since they took over The Palm. Seems like one of those "haunted" locations we see so often in Oakland county but they are still kickin which, despite the BS, is quite impressive. I can't seem to get over the fact that this is simply a high fallutin' alfoccino"s which is a rip off Olive Garden...I am not even afraid to order the universally pathetic & sad tourist "Italian plate combo", i.e. Lasagne, chicken parm, and fett alf.........all of which I would assume is like everyone elses frozen Sysco entrees, but for some odd reason, it seems to taste better HERE....go ahead and get the "side" of italian ssg and ya gotta begin with a house salad (is that the one with all the bacon?) and whatever appetizer "Vinny" recommends. (Shrimp? Squid? doesn't matter....Coolest Server around....ask for him.) P.S. Bread points

The only issue here is the limited and somewhat outdated menu. Everything we ordered was very good, including the toasted ravioli and the veggie tortellini. Slightly pricey but a meal for two costs us $50 including a drink each, and we split our appetizer and entree. Greg was very friendly and patient with us. (He gave us lots of bread!)

Always great appetizers, great meals and great service. Great ambiance. Owners are very friendly and are always there to oversee everything. Bar fairly quiet and bar tenders are awesome. I go there often for happy hour. My kids love Loccino's. We have had anniversary, graduation parties and work Christmas lunches there in the private banquet room and management and servers are awesome. Needless to say we do eat there often! Hihgly recommend it.

Went here on Saturday with my boyfriend after out original dinner plans had to change. We walked in and had to wait a moment to be seated as no one was at the hostess station. The restaurant was beautiful though and we were promptly brought bread with herbed oil that was quite good and our waitress took out drink order. We ordered the steak bits with mushrooms in zip sauce for an appetizer and it was delicious. Both the mushrooms, steak, and banana peppers were cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. I don't like steak that much but loved this dish. I had the minestrone soup with my meal and it was quite good. The flavor was nice though it could have used a bit of salt and pepper. There was a good amount of veggies in it too and nothing was over or undercooked. My boyfriend opted for the salad and he said that it was good with a nice dressing. He really liked the croutons. I had the lasagna, something I'd been having a craving for, and it didn't disappoint. It was full of delicious flavor and have a good ratio of sauce to cheese. It was super warm and perfectly cooked. My boyfriend had the lobster ravioli special and he said it was pretty good. He liked the ravioli a lot, but was divided on the sauce, he thought it needed a bit more flavor. Overall I had a very good experience here and would definitely return.

Tried this restaurant for the first time and we will certainly be back. It's off the beat and path but worth it. The salad and garlic bread was very good and fresh. Our main meals, seafood ravioli and sauteed fish was fantastic. Looking forward to our next visit.

Amazing ambiance paired with excellent Italian steaks and chops. I started with wine of course, the waitress informed us of the half off bottle deal on Thursday night which was an excellent value. I quickly picked an appetizer of beef tips that were surprisingly very tender and accompanied by a sauce of mushrooms an bell peppers. I also chose the lamb chop entree. It was perfectly cooked and tasted of fresh rosemary (which is similar to the style I prepare at home). Over all this place was great! There are a multitude of deals and promotions just ripe for the picking any night of the week. I'll certainly be back.

The food tasted good when we were there even though the service was slow and they were not busy on March 1st when we were there. About 24 hours after all 3 of us came down with stomach aches & flu like symptoms, one of us had to go to the hospital. We did call and they said the cook was sick that evening with a cold or flu. Cant believe them admitted this, and offered us a free desert. Any way we had been many times before and enjoyed it (even though a lot of fruit flies) . We may have second thoughts if we will return in the near future. I usually do not do reviews but felt this time it needed to be told.

I went there with a Groupon, so I did not have terribly high expectations, but they did not seem to meet them. Here are the pluses and minuses. + Was flexible in letting me use a lunch Groupon at dinner - Croutons in salad were soggy/stale + The bread was oily, but very tasty as a result - Lobster ravioli was average, but the sweet orange sauce did not go with it at all. In fact, the sauce was just bad - I was hoping dessert would avenge the "eh, whatever"ness of the rest of the meal. A cheesecake flight should do the trick, right? Right? Not today, they were out of the peanut butter (they gave me a discount for that), and the raspberry cheesecake was still partially frozen. A fitting end to a forgettable meal. + Prompt service + cool chillout music playing in the background They do have a reverse happy hour, for what its worth. There was nothing on special that grabbed my attention, though. I will not be coming back, and I certainly will not be paying full price.

I have been here twice now while on business trips and both times I have been impressed from beginning to end. There is just enough selection but not too many options. All courses are extremely well seasoned with bountiful portion sizes. The staff is top notch and make you feel comfortable throughout the duration of your meal. When in Troy this is a must try.

Loccino, Loccino, where have you been all my life? Another destination during Troy Restaurant Week, Loccino did not disappoint. My friend ordered the spinach and artichoke dip to start things out while I opted for the seafood stuffed mushrooms. Her dip was fantastic and loaded with melted cheese. The chips they brought out were these giant deep fried tortilla and I have never tasted something so fantastic. My mushrooms were small, but so good. The lemon butter sauce was one of the best I've tasted. For our main course I had the linguine de mare, with shrimp, scallops, tomatoes, and spinach (it also comes with mussels if that's your forte). It was delicious and of course I had another meal left over because I could not finish it! My friend went for the ravioli. Their ravioli is gigantic! She finished it all and raved about the semi-spicy tomato sauce. For dessert we had peanut butter flavored cannolis. Fantastico! Not to mention the beautiful exterior and interior decor, friendly waitstaff and beautiful restaurant. I am running back to Loccino!

Overall I'd say that this is one of the classier Italian places in town. It rivals Brio and definitely could become a go to place for me. Food was decent, thought everything was very flavorful. We got the seafood portabella (very good, touch on the saltier side) and eggplant parmigiana (very well done, the eggplant was mushy just right on the inside, with a touch of crispiness, I say this is a must if you go!). We finished off with the martini of the day (peachtini), which was also very good. Atmosphere here is fantastic. The waiters are really polite and really attentive, definitely one of the better services I've experienced. This place is great if you want a romantic ambiance with a touch of privacy (lights were dim, hushed voices, seems great for a date). Bottom line: this place is good if you want a romantic atmosphere + good Italian.

A group of friends and I visited this restaurant for New Year's Eve dinner. I should start by saying this restaurant is great for big group dinners. Our table was ready promptly. The food was pretty good. We started out with the sampler appetizer. That came with ravioli, eggplant parmesan, and calamari. The best of the sampler was the eggplant parmesan. Usually I do not even like eggplant, but it was so good. I ordered a side Cesar salad which was not that good and the American pizza, which was pretty good. I would return if I had to make plans for a big group dinner because they were very accommodating.

If you are looking for authentic Italian food, Loccino is the place to go. Food was great. I made a reservation through Yelp, was seated as I got there. Their appetizer and entrée both comes in good portion. As I was already full with my appetizer, I could only fining half of the chicken fettuccine, despite of how much I liked it. The ambiance is nice with soothing music going on, I am pretty sure is a go to place for a date night (of course I wasn't there on my date night ). If you work in Troy area, it's a great place to go out for lunch as well.

It was okay. The pasta was not amazing for the price and I would have expected the food to be better or more flavorful. However the service and bread are probably the highs of my experience.

Pasta al pesto was great, service was really good, Caesar salad was good--came with optional anchovies chopped really fine.

Service wasn't all that great. Restaurant was a little busy tonight but we were seated right away and the waitress bought us water. She then disappeared for like 10 minutes. The bread was awesome but the soup was a little on the salty side. The rest of the food was ok.

  • Caitlin T.

Used a Yelp deal for $10 for $20, so that was cool. The filet mignon bites appetizer was great, my boyfriend was excited to get extra anchovies on his caesar, and the house bread is fresh and delicious. Our entrees were also good (veal chop, chicken saltimbocca). Service from our waiter (Aaron, I think?) was GREAT. We weren't really planning on going to Loccino, so a table of four under-dressed 20-somethings doesn't always attract top-notch service on a Saturday night. Not the case here, Aaron was helpful and attentive and made us feel very comfortable. We've been a few times and have brought back friends, it's a solid choice. And while it probably isn't great for them, I enjoy that it's one of the few restaurants you can get into easily on a weekend night in Troy (probably due to its location)

What a great place. I just hope it survives. I was in there on a week night and the place was dead. This was a surprise becasue the place looked very classy and comfortable. The food was great, the wine was very good and the prices were very reasonable for the quailty and quanitity of food.

Sorry not impressed. I ordered the Ravioli Formaggio and what I received was a flavorless plate of slop drowned in cheese. Even the bread was flavorless. The only bright spot was our server Dave who was excellent.

I had a really good experience here. The food and service were both good. I appreciate the variety of menu choices because I love Italian food, but my husband hates it. Loccino has other options for individuals that my not love pasta as much as others.

Great place to go in Troy with pretty good food. Last time in I noticed the lettuce in my salad had a lot of brown in it. If tats there worst offense, I can live with it. I do love the tilapia morlet!

Overall decent, nothing to rave about but also nothing bad. For the price level though, it's really not something I'm going to go back to. First - the restaurant is really COLD. Why? Such an easy fix but they make it freezing and damp in there during the summer. We got an appetizer sampler - which was probably the best thing on the menu. My parents got two different fishes, the white fish and the sea bass, both were decent. I got the pasta sampler and it was too heavy and full of sauce, probably the worst thing we got. The service was great though.

I really debated between one and 2 stars here....I went with 2 ONLY because it was clean, I don't think it would totally blow as a lunch place...for dinner on a Friday or Saturday....bluck. We got there a bit after 8, there were tables, but it was clear they wanted us in and OUT. I hate that. I hate that a lot. I didn't have high hopes, but when the bread came around, I thought, ok...this might be all right...bread was fabulous. Pass. It all went downhill and fast.... The calamari...way too greasy, number one. Number 2-It was in perfectly cut rectangular strips, which screams bulk frozen to me...too much decor on the plate too-fail. Salad-was ok, it was the salad that came with the entrees, your typical perhaps bottled dressing and bagged lettuce, reminiscent of the Olive Garden salad-which I only like at Olive Garden, btw. It was fresh enough, and aside from the bread, the best thing we had-barley pass. Entrees-FML. These blew. I was getting the vibe, the bolognese would have been the best thing to order...the waitress said the penne pollo or whatever was excellent and then my husband talked me into it. Um, thin stripped chicken , that I don't doubt had been a bagged frozen breast that had been sitting around a while, and the heavier cream sauce(which is not what I was told) made for a college cafeteria type dish. Don't even get me started on my husbands veal parm, I tried to tell him not to get it and it will suck....I wish I had listened to myself and I wish he had listened to me. Entree-EPIC fail. Service was a passing grade, while rushed our waitress wasn't too big of a duche about it. Clearly, we didn't stay for dessert. Overall, I can see with the office buildings around here why it's still in business...I wouldn't object to a lunch trip of a salad and some pasta....anything else , you are MUCH better off at the Olive Garden. Olive Garden would have been better, cheaper, and my husband and I wouldn't have been cursing ourselves all weekend because we wanted our money back.

3 1/2 star. The best thing about this joint is that it's in walking distance to the disaster called the The Met. But, this place has great service and great Italian food. It's not the greatest I've ever had, but It's decent food and drink in the middle of no-man's land. Did I mention the bar service is great?

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner last weekend and loved it! We were seated right away and the service was great, the manager even stopped by to see if we were enjoying everything. As for the food, absolutely amazing! We started with the Filet Bites, I ordered the Italian Platter and he ordered the Chicken Tortellini. Our meals came with a salad and bread as well. There was so much food we both had left overs and they were even good warmed up the next day! We will definitely be going back and recommend this to all our friends.

One of my favorite places. I've never had anything here that I didn't love. Food is always great and the staff is very friendly. If you like calamari, ask for the calamari limone. It's served over a lemon and white wine sauce and its quite delish. I've had the chicken marsala several times here. It's my personal favorite. Its served with sundried tomatoes and mushrooms and the sauce is sweet. Chicken parmesan, chicken tortellini, and chicken piccata are all fantastic. If you don't want the side of spaghetti that comes with most entrees, you can get the garlic mashed potatoes which are great. Every meal comes with fresh herbed bread, a salad, and side of spaghetti. They also do great private parties here. Whenever we come here, we have to do dessert. They have amazing dessert! They even offer cold stone ice cream cakes. Tiramisu here is awesome too. They have a great happy hour as well with half priced appetizers in the bar area during weekdays. One of the best Italian restaurants in the metro Detroit area.

I ate at Loccino awhile back while in Troy, MI for work. I had the ravioli quatro fromagio (four cheese ravioli) which came with a salad and the food was very tasty for about $17. The restaurant is in a locale surrounded by strip malls and abandoned/nearly abandoned office towers in the parking lot of what used to by the Troy Hilton but is now Met Hotel. The patrons seemed to be very heavy on the Italian side and it seemed like the type of place that has a back room that the FBI is very interested in monitoring a few times a month (assuming there is any Mafia left in suburban SE Michigan).

Despite saying I wouldn't, I went back and it was very good for lunch. At noon on a weekday, we were seated promptly, and the waiter came by immediately with water and took our drink order (even when the food was bad, the service was still very good). We noticed the somewhat odd music selection (Muse's "Uprising" followed by Beatles covers). Might be a little weird if you were here for a lunch meeting. Our drinks came right away and were kept full. Then, hot ciabatta bread with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and parmesan. The bread was oily and bit bland - it needed a little salt or some seasoning, but I'll never turn down fresh bread. This time I had a salad with salmon, and it was very tasty. The salad was a heaping dinner plate of mixed field greens, and a lot of crumbled blue cheese and sun dried cherries; no veggies other than lettuce. Then some pine nuts, and decent size portion of grilled salmon, with a thick raspberry vinaigrette. Although pitched as grilled, the salmon seemed more like "griddled" or "pan broiled" since it was crisp with oil and had no grill marks or grill taste. Still very good, though, and hot. The sign on the front advertised $5.95 lunch specials, but I didn't see anything for that price on the menu, other than a bowl of soup. My salad was around $14. We were in and out in under an hour, but were not rushed. This was a very good lunch. Recommended for business people.

I've been sitting here debating on whether to give Loccino two or three stars. Let's start from the beginning. My parents celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary today and we had a party of nine...on the weekend before Valentine's Day. I had called another nearby restaurant, but wasn't able to make a reservation. I called Loccino and left a message about my reservation (I called around 1p and they open at 3p). I received a prompt call back at 3:10 pm and the host said that while he could accommodate the reservation, but because of the holiday, there might be a short wait. He was very polite on the phone and helpful. We arrived at Loccino about 10 minutes early, but were promptly seated. The place was packed with only one other open table available. I was worried that there might not be many people at all because the restaurant is surrounded my many office buildings which were closed (it was Saturday). It took a while for our server to take our order. I gave her the benefit of doubt with it being prime dinner time and a Hallmark holiday weekend. A couple who was with us needed to leave early and ordered the sampler plate. For the rest of the table, two orders of calamari were ordered. I asked how many people an order would feed to which her response was "two." Doubtful, I ordered just two orders of the calamari. That, with the bread (which was delicious), really was enough. If we had ordered more calamari, it would have been a bit much. Always go with your gut (no pun intended). The calamari was fine...not your typical rings and tentacles, but thick strips of calamari, lightly breaded, over marinara sauce and black olives. I didn't get a chance to ask the other couple how the sampler plate was, but I did notice that they cleaned their plates. For dinner, the following were ordered: chicken piccata (2), veal marsala, filet mignon w/ garlic mashed potatoes, a sandwich of some sort, jumbo shrimp. I happened to have one of the chicken piccata orders which came with a side of pasta (spaghetti w/ marinara sauce). My chicken was tender and juicy; the pasta was cooked well and the sauce was slightly bland, but not bad. Overall, the food was fine. It's the service I have an issue with - but please note that it wasn't because our server was slacking off. She was really trying and overall, she did a good job when she came to our table. Again, she wasn't slacking. It seems like there needed to be a bit more balance between the servers. A few were not as busy, but ours seemed a bit swamped. Also, she had tables not in one section, but in four sections. I feel like she spent more time buzzing around from place to place. Perhaps it's a matter of bad planning on management's end. I would go back in the future, regardless, but if they can fix the service part of things, I might change my rating to three stars.

I was very disappointed with the experience. The waitress was excellent until we told her we were using a certificate. Not only did the service diminish, they OVER-CHARGED on some of our meals and added a beverage to our bill to compensate for the certificate. Unfortunately, we didn't' realize until we got home and my dad had already paid the bill without paying attention and being familiar with restaurant.com certificates; we were all gone to the bathroom and car. In a nutshell we were overcharged by $7 which means taxed and tipped at 20% on the excess. VERY POOR! We will never return to this restaurant due to the dishonesty.

Having frequented a number of Italian restaurants, I have to say Loccino's is one of my favorites. Close to my workplace, I typically visit Loccino's during the lunch hour when it is less crowded. The food is very good, and the prices extremely reasonable. Favorites are the Chicken Piccata, the ever-changing ravioli selections, the Italian soup, and bread w/oil - all wonderful and recommended. I have reserved one of two private banquet rooms, and although the room temperature was a bit on the chilly side, the meal and a glass of wine quickly made up for the draft. A recent fundraiser that I attended was catered by Loccino's and there wasn't an unhappy guest in the group of 200. The owners are very nice, and the waitstaff is friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Although located in a spot that previous restaurants have failed, I am keeping my fingers crossed that Loccino's survives. It truly is a gem. Additional note, and contrary to another reviewer's comments, the only "heavy on the Italian side" is due to the fact the restaurant is owned by Italian's, and if the FBI appear to be interested in the restaurant it is truly only for the food itself. An FBI office is located in close proximity to Troy :)

I think this place is really good. It feels like authentic Italian cuisine. This expert opinion, of course, is coming from an authentic Irish - German - Scottish - English - American mutt. It seems like it's a restaurant that's been passed down through generations of a great, old Italian family. For all I know it's owned by corporate America, but that's okay... I'll hold onto the fantasy. One of the things I like about this place is that it's dated, but it's dated like your Italian mother-in-law is dated. It once had very good taste, and there are elements that are still relevant, so you hang onto them hoping that one day they'll be on trend again. Or maybe it's denial? It's like the forty-something mother of a teenage girl who shops at the same stores as her daughter and who adorns the back pockets of her denim jeans with all of the dazzled sparkle of a Jersey shore club queen. I've been here twice. The first time we were served by middle aged Italian man. He was awesome. He seemed to take the food and wine seriously, and I like that. Food and wine should always be taken seriously. Second time, I was served by a post high school pretty boy who pulled the disappearing act throughout our entire dinner service. He had myself and my entire party confused throughout the whole night. We wondered what was being smoked on the smoke breaks... That being said, this is a nice local Italian restaurant that avoids all of the spectacle of some of the newer places. In other words, it's easy to get into, and you can even earn some points on OpenTable. And I like that too.

I wasn't a huge fan of the overall ambience. There was curtains between the tables to provide somewhat of privacy. But they were oddly placed. Food was decent. The house salad dressing was good. I got the special of lobster ravioli and it had too much sherry in it. Overall, I thought it was pretty expensive for what we got.

Not bad. Too much bread in the basket, tasty , if a bit salty eggplant Parmesan. If some one is not ordering drinks, food over all is a bit salty.

Came here for a meeting. What ambience, it was as if we would see Don Corlone in one of the curtain shrouded booths. We got our drinks quickly and our order was taken soon after but we were not rushed in the least. Our waitress was attentive without being obtrusive. I ordered the broiled salmon that was served on a generous bed of veggie malaise laced with a fantastic beure blanc sauce. Inexplicably delicious. My husband had the fillet an ate every last piece . I now will be coming back to enjoy some of their Italian fare I've heard about in other reviews. All all an exceptional experience. Thanks to the Chef.

Our party of two came here on a Thursday evening because I had purchased a Living Social deal for a $35 dinner voucher. We were promptly seated and bread with olive oil were brought to our table. The bread had a buttery garlicky seasoning on the outside and was quite nice! We ordered the spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer and the Italian platter and pasta al pesto. The dip came with light crispy chips that didn't look like they would be enough for the amount of dip provided, but actually were just right. The dip was nice and cheesy, which is just the way I like it! The Italian platter came looking kind of messy. The sauce from the lasagna and chicken Parmesan were just a pile on the one side of the plate and the seasoning for both was overly salty and nothing I felt I could have gotten at any other restaurant for a lower price. The penne al pesto had a pretty good pesto flavor and was a generous size. The chicken was not too dry either. The problem with this dish was similar, I could have got the same dish at noodles and company for half the price. I would not have the ambiance, but it's not worth it to me to pay 2x the price for an entree. Our entrees also came with side salads. Our total came to $50 not including tip. Since we had the Living Social voucher, the price ended up not being too bad, however I would have been disappointed to pay full price for this meal.

I LOVE this place! My husband and I have been here three times (or so), and are planning to go back in the next couple weeks. I've never had a bad meal, or bad service. I love the bread. The calamari they have on special every so often is delicious. Also, the lobster ravioli they have on special sometimes is great too. I wish they would add those to the regular menu. The last time we went, they had a seafood bisque soup on special and it was the BEST! I like the atmosphere. I can't wait to go back! I don't understand all the bad reviews, because like I said, never a bad experience!

I have been here 4 times in the past few months and had a great experience each time. I am baffled by some of the recent reviews. Stale bread? The bread was delicious each time I went. Poor service? We have had 4 different servers and all of them very good. As for the ambiance, it has a classic feel but just because it is not trendy doesn't make it "dated". To me, it makes it classy. Dark wood tones, very nice murals (unlike many places that do this), and well placed wall hangings (not "curtains") make for a atmosphere of sophistication. It is apparently not everyone's cup of tea, but I really like it and so did all the people I have taken here. The food has been hands down excellent at each visit. I have brought 3 different people, some with repeated visits, and everyone loved the food. The house salad is tasty and fresh and I love to see a good Italian dressing available. The bread is excellent - intentionally thin and crusty. I have had seafood and chicken dishes mainly. The perch dish I had, which was served in a lemon wine sauce over garlic mashed potatoes was top notch. Extremely flavorful and cooked perfectly. The chicken piccata was as good as any I have had. One of the dishes came with a side of spaghetti, which I did not think I would eat but ended up eating the whole thing. Others I have been with have ordered pasta and salads as entrees. Everyone has left full and happy. A recent visit showed they have some (limited) outdoor seating as well which was full. It is a shame more people are not appreciating this restaurant. However, on a selfish note I have appreciated being able to get in on a Friday night without a wait. The prices are not inexpensive, but it is reasonable for the quality. If you like good food, check out the menu and the pictures and give it a shot. Highly recommend.

There was good and bad. Bread and salad was good. Atmosphere good. Frequent check ins. Bad. Pasta and marinara was not good. Nothing super appetizing on the menu. No refills provided. I feel like for the price, the service should be better. I wouldn't return.

First time coming here. We went for Father's Day. Bought the groupon just to save a little extra money although it wasn't much. It is a pricier restaurant but my whole family was impressed with the food. I personally got a ravioli dish and enjoyed it. We ordered calamari and a mushroom app to start. My brother loved his steak. We also got 3 different desserts. I would highly recommend this place for good Italian food and steaks. Yum.

Enter and you will be transported back into a scene of old style mob movie (not that I lived then or know what it was really like) ... The decor is old, dim and boring, the food uninspiring and overpriced and a snail would have been faster to deliver our food. The bread is stale and dry, olive oil bland, asparagus was woodsy, mashed potatoes were bland, wine was overpriced, ... need I go on?

Caesar Salad was soggy and not a very good dressing Lasagna was terrible, was under-cooked Wife did not enjoy pasta Calamari was just ok Went Valentine's Day, it was packed and service was slow but they were very apologetic, our waitress was very nice considering how busy it was, we will give it another try when less busy. Tab was $100 and included a decent bottle of wine.

Went here today for the first time, I bought a $20 Groupon a few weeks ago (like $11 and then $8.50 with their 20% off local deal day - great deal!). The interior reminded me a bit of Capital Grille's, and it was very nice. The fresh bread was delicious and came with olive oil. I ordered the pesto pasta ($13.50) which was big - I have half to take home for dinner tonight - and it came with a nicely-sized salad as well; I got a raspberry dressing with it. Service was also good and my water glass was never left empty. I would come back here again, you can get sandwiches for $8.95-9.95 for lunch which isn't bad. Pastas range from $11.95 to $13.50, and they also have steak and seafood. I'm assuming the dinner menu is more expensive but for lunch, those were reasonable prices for the quality of the food and the portion sizes. Loccinos was my 2nd choice for Troy Restaurant Week (we ended up doing Capital Grille instead, for the first time) so maybe I'll check them out during TRW's second go-round this year, I think it's in July or August.

Beautiful restaurant, inside and out! Food is outstanding, fresh, flavorful and excellently priced. I had the salmon sandwich which I am still craving today! The service was friendly, helpful and charming. I highly recommend this place, it is a nice change from all the other chain restaurants around here. It's a nice change.

Subpar. Nothing was really great on the menu and the service kinda sucks. They are just very average some would even say below average with all the options around that are so much better.

Upon entering, you are shuffled through the bar area and into the dining seating are. The tables are separated via curtains hanging down from the ceiling, which offers a little more of an intimate setting. Once we were seated, I asked the server about a Chianti recommendation. He replied with, "I am new here, so I wouldn't be able to make a suggestion." Ok, not starting well. How about pulling in someone who could? Once I settled on a wine, he took the rest of our party's drink order. There seemed to be a lengthy delay with his return, but that gave us a little more social time, so we overlooked this. When then went onto ordering our dinner selections. I ordered the lasagna, and my wife ordered the Chicken Picatta. When our plates came to the table, we were a little surprised. My lasagna portion was rather large, whereas, my wife's portion was small and her chicken breast was pounded so thinly. The flavors were there, and there was no way I was able to come close to finishing. My wife enjoyed her dish, and wanted more - but is that a good thing, or because her offering was much smaller. We passed on dessert, but they offered a large selection. In all, the service was ok at best. I am apt to give someone some slack if they are just starting. I felt the food was fine, but nothing special. It was a bit over priced for what we received in all.

We come here late at night when we visit Troy from out of town. It fills the bill. Good, not great, but real Italian. If I could split a star, I'd give it 3 1/2, I just can't do the 4 star thing.

The first time I came to Loccino was two years ago for homecoming and I was not impressed in the slightest. First of all, they split our party of ~15 into three separate booths which I thought was very inconvenient since we couldn't talk to our friends on homecoming?? But it was also really busy and they have a dearth of big tables, so I guess I understand, but they should've warned us when we reserved. The food was slow, the waiter brusque and rude, and the homecoming menu was not very appetizing. Overall, not a good experience. Thus, when I was invited to a birthday party here, I did not have high expectations. But this time, Loccino really impressed me! We were seated at a large table this time and the service was quite good. Water was refilled quickly, dishes were cleared quickly, and food was delivered quickly as well! Let's talk about the food. First of all, the bread was really, really good. It was so soft and tasteful, dipped in balsamic olive oil. Mmm. My mother judges restaurants on their bread so I quickly recommended it to her. All of our entrees came with a salad. I upgraded to a Caesar salad, although I kind of wish I stuck with the house, because the dressing smelled pretty good, and I saw it for sale at the front desk. The salad was nothing special. For my main dish, I got the Pasta al Pesto without the sundried tomatoes. It was creamy and yummy, although after awhile, mine seemed a bit dry compared to my friend's. The mushrooms were varying in size, which confused me, but it wasn't bad. I usually prefer button mushrooms in my pasta. East Side Mario's Orecchiette Genovese Alfredo is very similar, although I prefer East Side Mario's. I did like the size of the penne in the Pasta al Pesto, though. The serving size was fairly large so I took a little less than half of it home. I have to admit, I was planning on writing an unpleasant review for Loccino because of my prior experience, but I was pleasantly surprised! The prices are a bit expensive, but it's nothing drastic. I think they could do with adding more to their menu, but I've found a favorite in the Pasta al Pesto. It's close to home, so I'll definitely be coming back! The only advice I can give is to add more to their homecoming menu, because it is not A+

Came here for restaurant week with a group of friends. We had a huge party and they were able to accommodate us very quickly. The service was quick and the waiters were attentive to all our needs. Don't remember the food being anything special, but I will be back again for a big group event.

This ain't no Olive Garden! Truly great Italian food isn't what I would expect in Rochester Hills, but this restaurant should be a stop for anyone who loves it. It is an upscale establishment so keep the flip-flops at home. When there, I ordered the lobster ravioli which was a flavor explosion with a well-balanced sauce. The waitstaff was very professional and attentive. Yes, it's a little pricey, but you are getting a fine-dining experience.

Went here Saturday 1/25/14 for anniversary dinner. Food was delicious, plenty of menu choices. Was surprised at the menu prices, I thought they would be much higher but 2 Drinks, 1 Appetizer, 2 Entree's with Caeser salads ran us only 50$. Spinach and Artichoke dip, one of the best I've ever had. The dip was amazing, and the homemade chips made it even better. Caeser salads were great, standard caeser salad. We both ordered the Baked Chicken Rigatoni. Was delicious, was a little much on the garlic side but still very good. Cannot comment on the desserts as after all the food we were stuffed, but the tray looked very nice. I gave this review minus 1 star because of the service. Although our server was nice, he was not knowledgeable of the menu. We ordered an Arnold Palmer and Iced Tea for drinks, he brought Diet Coke, had no idea how you get Diet coke from Arnold Palmer and an Iced tea. Ordered 2 Caesar salads, he brought one and a garden salad, asked for my caeser and he replaced it. Then once our Entrees came out by some other person, we were waited on by what I can only assume was the manager. She came over and asked how the food was, refilled drinks two times. 20 minutes go by and the server came over to drop off the check. Where did he go? Who knows. Very nice restaurant, great good. Will definitely be back. Forgot to mention too, I thought it was very strange they were playing 90's to 2000's punk rock. Blink 182 and Sum 41 for dinner? As we were leaving they changed to instrumental and turned it down. But I thought it was weird they would play that music at a place like this at dinner time.

Our family really enjoys this restaurant! Our favorite is the steak bite appetizer. The lasagna, chicken parmesan and minestrone soup are also delicious. You can always get right in although lately it's been busier but less than 5 minute wait. The staff, especially Vinny, are very personable. The only reason I won't give it a five star is because it is on the expensive side!

We've always had a good meal here and friends we have taken all enjoyed it. Sometimes the waitstaff is a little to friendly (a personal pet peeve) like touching your back and almost looking like they are going to sit down and join you. All the food and drink are wonderful. We have found $10.00 off coupons in magazines which always helps these days. Last time we were there I ran into friends of my parents who also love the place and travel from Pontiac Trail and Haggerty to get here. That is a long drive for Italian food which says lots about the food.

Good Service, horrible food. I stopped in this place for a beer and some food, expecting good casual Italian. I first asked for a pale ale and he handed me a beer list. Not one beer with any hops at all. Overall a boring selection of standard Macro brews. I should have left then but the bartender was very friendly and persuasive. So I ordered a pizza that sounded interesting - filet and portobello. When it came it was undercooked. Very doughy in the middle with commercial grade mozzarella. They sent it back and put it through the oven again and cooked it some more. They should have made a new one since pizzas cook differently once they are cut. Anyways, the pizza was still flavorless and boring. Then I got my bill. $24 for a bad pizza and two bottles of Labatt. Stay away! The great service I received simply couldn't make up for the garbage coming out of the kitchen.

My wife and I visited for a rare night out. It'd been open for a little over 5 weeks, occupying the same spot The Palm used to be. I only ate at The Palm 1-2x but I don't think much has changed in the layout. Ample booth seating (up to 6 comfortably) with an open dining room with tables and a private dining room for larger parties. Valet was quick and personable plus the kept the trusty ride close (which was good the recognized the value of beat up 2005 Pacifica). We'd made reservations and arrived about 10 minutes early and were directed into the bar which is an immediate right from the host stand...a smokey bar right off the entrance. A bit of a turn off but the bartenders were awesome and we were seated promptly. Almost too promptly as we'd had just enough time to talk with one of the bartenders and get seated. And we're seated. And the service to start was fair at best. Nice enough but we'd ordered a bottle that wasn't available and instead our server brought two glasses assuming we didn't want to make another bottle choice (Montepluciano d'Abrozzo Primavera, can't read my notes and lost the itemized bill). We started with steak bites which were very tasty but need substantial salt and pepper. We'd recommend it..with salt and pepper. I ordered a Caesar and it was very good - the dressing was light, good homemade croutons not fishy at all but that's alright, it wasn't a traditional Caesar dressing. And now we wait. Oh here it comes - I got some sort of combo that included Alfredo, which was ok (it needed salt), lasagna which had a nice sauce too it, not runny and not overly meaty, I would happily try a full order of this (needed salt) and finally the chicken parm which was fair at best. Covered in a bland marinara it too needed salt. All in all, a 2.5. They need to brush up on the service. The food was ok but overall a spot I would gladly try again in a few months.

Service wasn't all that great. Restaurant was a little busy tonight but we were seated right away and the waitress bought us water. She then disappeared for like 10 minutes. The bread was awesome but the soup was a little on the salty side. The rest of the food was ok.

What a great place. I just hope it survives. I was in there on a week night and the place was dead. This was a surprise becasue the place looked very classy and comfortable. The food was great, the wine was very good and the prices were very reasonable for the quailty and quanitity of food.

3 1/2 star. The best thing about this joint is that it's in walking distance to the disaster called the The Met. But, this place has great service and great Italian food.

I had high hopes for this place. Service was uninspiring, the food was boring and the ambience was tired. What a drag.

Service wasn't all that great. Restaurant was a little busy tonight but we were seated right away and the waitress bought us water. She then disappeared for like 10 minutes. The bread was awesome but the soup was a little on the salty side. The rest of the food was ok.

It was okay. The pasta was not amazing for the price and I would have expected the food to be better or more flavorful. However the service and bread are probably the highs of my experience.

Came in for a quick bite and ended up having dinner. Great service, great food. Everything seemed very fresh. The filet mignon appetizer was amazing!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
