As far as Chinese goes, Kims is what it is. Its cheap and you get a ton of food. Don't expect to be wow'd by their amazing food, but its definitely extremely edible. I have been exploring their menu more lately and they still have yet to let me down. We usually get take out, so my dine-in experience is probably 7 years rusty. Their dinner combos are fantastic for the price. You get plenty of your main course, a large scoop of chicken fried rice and a shrimp/chicken egg roll. My biggest complaint is that the chicken fried rice doesn't have all the bells and whistles that a stand-alone order does. I'd love to see more chicken, some veggies and sprouts and egg in there! Their soups are good, considering they are basic staples. If you want quick Chinese take out, Kim's does the job, a lot of time better than your smaller strip mall Chinese food places. Just wish the carry out chicken fried rice was better!

The Chinese food here is very Americanized. The portions are very big, and they come with fries... not Chinese at all. I used to come here a lot for their bubble tea, but then I realized they just use powder bought from a local grocery store. I've definitely seen them at the grocery store buy the Taro and Honeydew powder. They've also raised their prices significantly in the past few years. If I were to get bubble tea now, I would go to QQ Bakery.

Ever since we moved here and saw their sign proclaiming that they've been rated the "Best of Detroit" (or whatever it is, of course I took a pic of the other side of the sign!), we knew we wanted to try it. Unfortunately, it was a mistake. I'm really not sure how they could be rated best of any food category... Decent? Yes. Fast? Yes. Best of? No way. To be honest, we were planning on going to Thai Taste, which is kitty corner from Kim's...but they were crazy busy and we didn't feel like attempting to eat there with our toddler during the lunch rush, so we headed across the street. The ambiance was what you'd expect for a mid-level Chinese place--a decent-sized place with red leather booths and tables and the typical paper placemats. The menu was fairly large, including a page of vegetarian selections, but didn't have a few staples I was looking for (hoping to have) like Mongolian Beef or Lemon Chicken. I ordered one of my standbys, General Tso's, hubby got Cashew Chicken, we got Egg Drop and Hot & Sour soup, and Crab Rangoon. The rangoon were fairly abysmal--definitely fake crabmeat and it even tasted quite fake and generic. It wasn't helped any by the sweet sauce (already in the table) that was really watery and not very tasty. It was also plated really shoddily (see photo)--it would have looked much more appetizing just by putting it on a smaller plate. The soups were meh as well, although the egg drop was better than the hot & sour (which was neither hot nor sour). I got sweet rolls as a side and hubby got crispy noodles--we didn't order them, so aren't sure if those specific soups come with those specific sides or what... But those were both decent. The General Tso's was like nothing I'd ever seen--no little bite-sized pieces of chicken, but actual breaded chicken fingers (see photo)! The chicken was tender and moist...but it didn't taste like any version of General Tso's I've ever had--it actually tasted more like Sweet & Sour, right down to the peppers in the sauce and no broccoli on the side. So it wasn't bad, just really nothing like I was expecting. The chicken fried rice didn't seem fresh, either. Hubby's Cashew Chicken looked like others I've seen, and it was okay tasting, but certainly nothing to write home about. The one thing that did stand out, however, was the service. The waitress was very nice--always there refilling our waters, talking to our son, making sure everything was okay, asking if we needed anything else...and the food was brought out quickly and the bill was taken care of quickly. She gets four stars. Are we glad we ate there? Not really. Yes, we got to cross another restaurant off our list...but we'd have had a much, MUCH better meal across the street where we started.

i used to be a regular custormer at Kim's. My neighbors as well as ourselves used to rave about their food. The past couple of times we have gone the food has definitely gotten worse. Not sure if they have a new chef or what is going on. Chicken chow mein.suey was thick and almost gooey...Majority of wait staff remains friendly. The food has definitely declines. Talked to my neighbors who stated they have observed the same decline. it is too bad.

I really have not eaten here much, definitely not enough to write a proper review of the food here. But, the one thing I have quite often here is the bubble tea. If you like bubble team, and are looking for it in the metro Detroit area this is a pretty good place to get it. I've lived and travelled to areas in the US with very high asian populations, in which bubble tea was a huge trend. I can even say I got through grad school on the stuff. Though the bubble tea here is no the greatest I've ever had, it is the best I've had in the area. They have all the traditional flavors, as tea, as slushie, with or without milk, and all at a decent price. You can even check out the Kim's website with a few videos about bubble tea. If you've never had a bubble tea, try it. It is a great treat. If you are a novice or need a suggestion, try a green melon slushie bubble tea.

Went back to Kim's after a long absence (East Lake Chinese at Long Lake & Rochester is authentic). The dinner rolls are back for dinner service. Slightly sweet and hot. Yum! I avoided the combination plate offerings and focused on the regular menu. Our table was very happy with the food. Bonus: brown rice is now available.

Very good place, we always order the fried rice general tsos chicken and Mongolian beef with the special won ton soup, remember they give you an egg roll and a bowl of soup for every item you order. The food is usually good here and the egg rolls are great

Barely one star...Chinese hot tea tasted burned...rolls were burned...egg drop soup tasted like liquid cornstarch..rice stuck together and cold...waitress came back after we waited for entree 30 min to ask "what did you order"?The lemon chicken rubber like and side lemon sauce?tasted like lemon flavored cornstarch too!!NEVER EVER. AGAIN. hostess Margaret. Was nice and friendly however

I'd be hard pressed to recall a time when I've driven by Long Lake and Livernois and didn't want to stop in Kim's for a General Tso's or Almond Chicken combo. I tell you yelpers, it's a difficult battle because they do a nice job here. Great deals to be had all day every day and the food tastes as good as it can for the price. Their lunch deals w/fried rice and an egg roll are an even better deal because you can grab a large sized carryout for $6-7 easy. It's more fun to dine in though because of the wonton soup and expansive kung foo interior. All the americanized Chinese classics are in attendance but they also have a deeper more exotic Asian menu as well. There has to be well over 100 items to choose from. The majority of which I haven't tried because I'm either petrified or too addicted to deep fried chicken drenched in sugary salt sauce to go in any other direction. I'd also like to mention that they use white meat and not the chewy grey matter that other Chinese places use. Their bubble tapioca smoothies are fun to try and come in many different flavors (mango is my favorite). Huge fan of the staff especially at the front counter where they are just so consistently delightful, friendly and happy people who always treat you with respect. The servers speak broken English so some things get lost in translation when ordering especially if you have the audacity to order off the menu. But they find a way to make it work. Hmmm, Lifetime Fitness or Kim's tonight? The hell with six pack abs, me wants sweet and sour chicken!

This place is fantastic! I'm really confused by the reviewers. My husband and I got the healthy version of Orange Chicken and Tso Spicy Chicken. We also got an appetizer, crap rangoon. Let me start by HEALTHIER ORANGE CHICKEN! Yes, it exists. Wasn't overwhelming taste of orange which I love, no breading (score!) and tons of veggies. I'll be addicted to this. My husband loved his dish too. The service is enough for me to have some back thou. I placed a over the phone take out order. Margret took my order and greeted me as I entered the restaurant. She was VERY kind and clearly extremely hard working. I love supporting the small businesses that busts their butts. They asked if we had an allergies to peanuts on phone and again when picking up. They also said thank you the second I called to place an order showing their extreme gratefulness that I chose their restaurant. Businesses are lacking this nowadays, super sad. Everyone can learn a few things from Kim's.

I just moved out here and am still looking for places I know are amazing for those days we don't feel cooking. First time we got Kim's, I did not see such a problem as I do now. The fried rice is very dry, kinda bland. The chicken lo mein kinda tastes like old soggy ramen. I also got the egg roll, sweet and sour chicken, and crab ragoon: all dry and tasteless. I might have to eat in instead of carry out, maybe it's fresher and tastier. Will be thinking twice before returning.

Yummy! I got Szechuan vegetables. It was a large container stuffed with carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, bok choi, and a piping hot (both in temperature and spice), thick sauce. I really enjoyed it! Food was ready less than ten minutes after I ordered, and service is always friendly. Go Kim's! Love you!

Kim's is excellent. I have been going since I was a little girl and have always loved it. Their wonton soup is amazing and I get it almost every time I go there. By far, the best thing on the menu though has to be the bubble drinks. I discovered them about 2 years ago and have been hooked ever since! I highly recommend the lychee flavored drink. It is sweet and a very unique flavor. All in all, I know Kim's doesn't suit some people's fancy but I adore it. Even if you do not like the food, you must go back and try the bubble drinks.

Was at Kim's for dinner last night.. Definitely not going back. The App's where Soggy and very oily, the Crab Rangoon's gave a very very fishy smell, Chicken Dumplings too Salty. Last but not the least I ordered the KIM"s Special Fried rice and 95% of the shrimp in the dish wasn't de-vein'd and when I told the manager about it the first thing that came to her mind was since it looks like you had half of it I am going to charge you half the dish instead of saying sorry let me get you another one, she also went to the extent to tell me, that she came up to our table after the food was severed and asked how the food tasted USUALLY everyone always says it was fine, I didnt actually notice the shrimp being nasty until I was half into dinner once I noticed I immediately had to stop consuming it since it is unhealthy! My brothers girlfriend had to repeatedly point out that it was their fault and not to charge us for the dish, eventually she didnt charge us for it and again came back and said that its normally happen's when they order shrimp that some of the shrimp get missed in the cleaning and de-veining process. In this case I guess I got all ones they missed out on.

I drive about 15 minutes out of my way to get Kim's. Round trip it's about 30 minutes. And it's completely worth it. The food is way better then other Chinese restaurants in my area and the people that own it are so nice.

I got carry out today and the egg drop soup was great and very hot. Egg rolls were descent, and almond chicken was to die for. It's not the healthiest of foods but it sure is good as a special treat on occassion

The food is pretty bad. Had their Chicken Kung Pow and the main brown sauce tasted like flavorless goop. It's my understanding they use the sauce on a lot of their dishes. The waitstaff was incredibly friendly. But they were so friendly they didn't know how to leave us alone, wasn't there to talk to them.

My family has been coming here my whole life and we're all fans. I'm sure I sat in a high chair here at some point in the last 40 years. Kim's gives you classic old school Americanized Chinese food. Big portions at a low price. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The place is a classic, not much has changed here in the past 30 or so years, so it's up to you if that's a good thing or not, for me it is. One of the managers talked us into trying some bubble tea drinks that were delicious "lemon poppers" or something like that. Yum. We always order the same things here and this is what I would recommend: Moo Shu chicken or pork Almond Chicken General T's Chicken and my new favorite, Szechwan vegetables with tofu. Can't go wrong with any of those :-) oh and I love their bread but don't eat it because it will make you too full to eat your dinner, take the rolls home for leftovers. btw they filmed a scene from the latest Harold and Kumar movie here.

This place should get 5 on service alone. The food is always fast and fresh and HOT. Love them so much! Great place for party hosting (cuz it's cheap and good). Be prepared for fried food tummy, but it's so delicious....mmmm Oh, and I know their kitchen is clean. My husband just stopped in one day to take pictures of it, because he was interested in it for Harold and Kumar movie. There is photos up from when they filmed there, but the scene didn't make the cut :(

My first impression on this restaurant was that it is clean and the staff is friendly. We were greeted by several employees on our way in and invited to pick our own seat. The bubble drinks were strange. Over surgery drinks with *huge* "tapioca" bubbles in them. Not something I'd order again. The water glasses were tiny and not filled often enough for a place with such salty food. The crab ragoon was pretty amazing. There was actually more crab than cream cheese. So they tasted how they are supposed to! I ordered schezuan chicken and my husband ordered General Tso's Chicken. Both were very good. My chicken could have been more trimmed. Also, a personal choice, but I like my schezuan sauce oil based rather than a brown sauce. That didn't factor into my star rating. Either way, I'm still on the look out for a great Chinese restaurant in the area. But this place is pretty good.

Everybody's got a cold, so it's time for take-out. Chinese elicits a solid positive response, so I recommend Kim's. The guy who answers the phone and then waits on me at the counter is very gracious. Everything was packed securely in a box - no worries about spilling the soup. Speaking of soup - huge wontons! The Hot n' Sour was average. Overall, everyone was happy with what they ordered (Chicken Subgum, Veggie Fried Rice, Chicken w/ Broccoli combo plate). Portions were big - looks like I have dinner for tomorrow too. Solid.

I'm a consistant lunch-goer at Kim's. So much so, that they know my order the minute I give them my phone number (although I'm sure they profile frequent customer orders to make it easier for them). I can't say I've eaten many things in the "main course" category, but the reason I continue to go back to Kim's at lunch might be something most haven't tried: The "Special Wonton Soup." I know what you're thinking.. but it's not just your average wonton.. it's special :) The soup (which I always get to go) comes with LOADS of large vegetables (snap peas, carrots, bokchoy, mushrooms), and 6 pork wontons (packaged in a seperate container). However, the "prized" item in this entire dish is the barbecued pork. Please try to imagine the smell and taste of large chunks of tender pork, seasoned perfectly with cinnamon. Before you say anything about the cinnamon, please try it - it makes the dish! For about $6.40, it's a filling lunch for one large adult (like me) or 2 smaller people to share!

So my last experience was wonderful and the waitress was very attentive. However! In the past, we've had a long wait as well as not getting everything we've ordered. The food is good and the seating is nice. Good for people with big families.

First and foremost, the waitstaff at Kim's is top notch. I am having trouble writing this review about anything besides the service since they honestly treat their customers like family. I first went to Kim's because I was planning a wedding shower and Margaret helped with EVERY aspect of the shower and it turned out awesome. The food is great for typical "American" Chinese food. I married into a Chinese family and they weren't as impressed with the food, but I think that was because they were hoping for more authentic Chinese. Their general tsao is really good and we also really like the sesame chicken. We often order party trays from Kim's and they are always a big hit. I'd highly recommend this place.

There were quite a few tables filled on a Friday. The restaraunt was a bit run down. As most chinese places are. And the carts used to deliver food destroyed any good feeling about the place. The almond chicken was standard and typical which is good if that's what your looking for. The general tsos was more like sweet and sour and the fried rice is bland. Won ton is delicious and the best part of the meal. Ginger ice cream is good. I won't rush back. In fact, I got home and really just got a disgusting feeling. I decided the food was awful...deep fried tasteless food. Ugh. I will not go back.

For inexpensive Chinese, kims in troy is a good place. I have many years of kims experience under my belt! The wait staff is very nice, and the restaurant has a lot of quirks like interesting tea party specials that include wontons and chicken nuggets and waving cats you can buy. It's very cute, kims isn't a cookie cutter chinese place, it has heart. I've ordered many things off the menu, I wasn't the biggest fan of the lo mein or curry, but everything else I've gotten is tasty. Me and my dad love the "lite meal" fried rice combination that comes with a cup of soup. It's the perfect size and under $5. Their steamed dumplings with chicken are so delicious, I can't get enough of them! Their almond boneless chicken is yummy and their portions are huge! I like their bubble drinks, the mocha and honeydew flavors are really good. One time for my bubbles were still frozen, but that was only one time. Their wonton soup is so yummy! My family and friends have been regulars for years. One time on my birthday they gave me a bag of fortune cookies :)

I heard a lot of bad stuff about this from Chinese people but I decided I'd give it a try the other day so I went over and got some bubble tea. It was pretty terrible. Way too sweet and the tapioca pearls were really squishy and sticky. In my opinion, the bubble tea at QQ Bakery on Dequindre and 13 Mile is infinitely better (and it's slightly cheaper). The people were nice enough though so no complaint on service. I wouldn't recommend it to any of my Chinese friends but a lot of my white friends like it so it's probably more fitted to American tastes and people should try it out. But if you want an authentic Chinese dining experience this is not the place to go.

Are they paying people to give them good reviews...I don't get it? My friends and I came here a couple years ago and we all had the worst food poisoning of our lives (other than our trip to Asia...I won't tell you about that on here...) from this place! I am certainly not going to go back...but when my cousin and his colleague got food poisoning from here a few weeks ago I decided I should leave this review.

The General Tso's chicken just wasn't good. Wong's Garden was closed for a few days due to the owners being on vacation so I decided to try this place out. The chicken itself wasn't crunchy at all, the rice was ok and the sauce was very bland. If you want very good General Tso's chicken, then I recommend Wong's Garden on Square Lake and John R. You won't go anywhere else.

I am so picky about Chinese food, so much that I haven't eaten any in at least 5 years.. I usually stick to Thai. I had a craving tonight and decided on Kims. Just finished my dinner, and I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was amazing, even the presentation (carry out). Nothing to complain about. I'm extremely satisfied. Definitely will order from there again.

We ordered chicken lo mein and to my dismay, there were lumps of uncooked noodles! Utterly disgusting - it tasted like flour. The lo mein lacked flavor! Hot and sour soup was just average, as was the Schezwan chicken. I have eaten at this place before, and the food used to be quite good. I think they must have a new chef. I'll stick with the Chinese restaurant that we normally go to.

I basically eat at Kim's for two reasons: 1. Bubble Tea and 2. They deliver to businesses at lunchtime and if you're not in the mood for pizza or Jimmy John's you don't have a whole lot of alternatives. The bubble tea remains good, but Kim's has recently upped its delivery threshold from a purchase of $15 to $40. Used to be that I would get a couple extra items to kick my lunch total above $15, but it looks like they've priced themselves out of my range. I mean, I get that gas prices are high, but isn't that what a $3.50 delivery fee is *for*? Do they really need you to order food for your entire department (average lunch price is, what, six bucks? That's seven people) to make it "worth" the trip? The food ranges from "not bad" to "vaguely offputting". Unfortunately, the quality lacks consistency, so the pepper steak you find to be pretty good today might not be so nice the next time you order it. These days I pretty much stick to eating the lettuce wrap appetizer as my meal -- it's usually pretty good, you get tons for the price, and East Lake (our go-to place for good Chinese) doesn't make it.

I entered Kim's with some trepidation given the reviews of my fellow Yelpers. I had been searching for a new Chinese take out restaurant in this area. Yesterday, though, I wondered if I should belay that urge in favor of the excellent Thai Taste kitty-corner. Ever gastronomically intrepid, I went to Kim's. I was pleasantly surprised. My Stir Fried Chinese Vegetables with Tofu was mild and tasty with a very light sauce. The vegetarian egg roll (a rarity) was steaming and savory with abundant bean threads. My wife's Hong Shu Gai was the best she had had in some time. It had a thin, non-gloppy sauce. The alert folks at Kim's were smart enough to pack the chicken and vegetables in separate containers to avoid a soggy mess. Kim's may not be "authentic" Chinese food (for that, try someplace like Golden Harvest in Warren). It is Americanized as the almost exclusively Western clientele indicates. What they do, however, they do well. In an area full of overly salted Chinese food with sauces with the viscosity of heavy motor oil, that counts for something.

First of all, I was surprised by the dinner roll appetizer served with my hot and sour soup. I did a double take and confirmed I was surrounded by red, Asian-looking decor and spoken to by an authentically Chinese waitress and yet the first thing she placed on the table was a bowl with butter in it. Very puzzled and wary since the crowd was a bunch of elderly Michiganders and then us, a 20 something duo but there aren't many options on labor day night. The soup was decent, especially for our hungry bellies, not the best I've ever had but this is troy mi, what am I expecting? The combination platter is plentiful and comes with waaay too much food for just one person. I enjoyed that and the price tag works, plus the ingredients tasted fresh. Perhaps too fresh because the large mushrooms weren't cooked all the way through but the sezchuan sauce was pretty decent and the chicken was fresh tasting. I'm not sure what was fried with the fried rice whether it was chicken cubes or imitation crab (probably the latter), but it was a-ok. The staff was very attentive, especially the owner. I got a bubble tea to go and the aloha flavor was interesting, but the tapioca wasn't flavored well. I wouldn't expect good bubble tea out of a Chinese restaurant as there are places in other towns devoted entirely to the craft and sometimes they aren't that great either. Overall if you want a cheap loaded American-Chinese meal with fresh ingredients this would be your stop my friend.

I remember in high school always hearing about people who died at Kim's. It was always, "Oh I saw an ambulance there the other day. I bet someone else died of food poisoning." Turns out their parking lot is just a good place for ambulances to park in the evenings because it has easy access to many major roads so they can get to emergencies quickly. Their food is not poison, in fact in terms of regular Chinese takeout type food, it's actually pretty good. I guess the moral of the story is that high school kids are idiots.

I strictly come here for boba. Taro with bubble and ice cream or strawberry/mango with bubbles and ice cream are my favorites Margaret uses non-dairy creamer so that it's lactose intolerant guest friendly!!! Tastes great, best boba(bubble tea) smoothies around town!!!! =)

Why was this place was Voted the Best Chinese Restaurant on the Best of Detroit website?? It's super misleading and makes me very skeptical of the other restaurants that made the list. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken and the Mongolian Beef and the portions were huge and the meat isn't Grade D meat so those are huge pluses, but these things don't matter if it doesn't taste good! I'm not quite sure what they put in the sauce because it just isn't tasty. Very disappointing. People save your money and take the Best of Detroit sign they have displayed with a grain of salt. It doesn't mean anything.

I have been to plenty of Chinese restaurants in the Chinatowns of New York, Toronto, and Chicago. This has turned me into a snob. There are very few Chinese restaurants in this state I consider worth eating at and Kim's is one of them. Don't let the fact that they will serve you a dinner roll if you ask for it fool you. This is not mall food. The BBQ pork is exemplary. I highly recommend anything on the menu that has BBQ pork in it. The special wonton soup is fantastic. Another wonderful part of Kim's menu is the array of bubble drinks. Aside from having great food, the staff is very friendly and everything is very clean.

We were new to the area, love Chinese food, and were looking forward to the food. This place is very big, and there were quite a few people eating. My biggest issue was that they served dinner rolls with the meal. It was like it was Asian lite. The food was not great - not good - nor decent - it was all meh! We will never come here again.

Kims has been around for many years. I really think they do a nice job as far as being consistent and a very kind staff. The food tastes good and the place is much cleaner than most. I am sure people were asking for bread and butter and that's why they offer it which makes the style a little less authentic.. That is not a reason to put the place down. Look at the prices and the portions, you cant beat it. This is a really nice, clean and welcoming place with great carry out service. I really believe people expect too much. I read all the reviews and I am surprised by the many negative remarks. I am not easily pleased when eating out, but Kims definitely deserves 4 stars.

Where have all the good Chinese restaurants gone? Kim's staff is Asian but the food could have been found in freezer section of a mini mart. At the bottom of the carry out box was a ballot to WDIV to vote for Kim's as the Best Chinese Restaurant in the area for the 4th straight year. For the record, their Hot & Sour soup is like beef gravy with some odds and ends tossed in. Their steamed dumplings were the most flaccid and tasteless objects I've encountered...they were filled with a dried out chicken paste. The Seafood Lo Mien was a mess...compressed noodles with previously frozen seafood tossed on top. The only thing that was barely tolerable was the Garlic Chicken which earns Two Stars. This is why I go to Hong Hua or to Windsor ON. or NYC to get Chinese. Troy's restaurants must be truly grim if Kim's wins awards. The only good news is that the portions are huge. Bon Appetit!

I have been to this fantastic restaurant twice, and I will continue to return. I drive about forty minutes to get there, but the time and gas is worth it to me. My first encounter with this restaurant occurred when some friends wanted to get a glass of bubble tea. It was suggested to our group to try Kim's, even though it was a drive. I was not disappointed. The variety of bubble drinks was eye-opening and the quality was spectacular. The tapioca pearls were soft, chewy and pleasant to suck up through the giant straw that the drink is served with. I tried the strawberry smoothie-like version, which was very sweet and tasty. A few of the flavored drinks are made with real fruit, and the strawberry was one of those few. The rest of my group wanted to eat something because we had not eaten all morning, so one person ordered a lunch of sweet and sour chicken (which I split with them) and the other ordered a beef and vegetable dish. Not to feel left out, I ordered steamed dumplings. Everything I had was great and filling. The portion sizes were huge for the price paid. On my most recent trip, I took a friend out for a birthday lunch and tried the milk bubble tea. It was a subtle sweet and was as enjoyable as my last experience. I split an order of the special wonton soup for 2 and, with the amount of food in the communal bowl, could have fed at least four. The past two visits to Kim's was complete with friendly and efficient service. It is a very clean place. Each time I have been there, there has been very few other guests if any at all. More people need to experience the awesomeness of Kim's! And, as a side note, the little fountain/shrine piece when you walk in and out is very pretty to look at. In a way, it brings your journey full circle from start to finish.

This place USED TO be GREAT a few years ago. They have progressively gotten worse. I was in denial but as I sit here eating my meal that tastes like metal, I have come to terms with the fact my favorite Chinese restaurant will have to be a memory no longer savored.

Being Asian and growing up in NYC's Chinatown, finding a good Chinese restaurant is a challenge. Kim's wasn't bad but didn't quite make the grade to good. The first items served was a glass of water and a dish containing two packets of butter. It's only when I received the hot tea I requested that I find it accompanied with a dinner roll - a first for me in any Chinese restaurant but now I understand why their sign says "Chinese and American Cuisine". The hot and sour soup wasn't bad, I would say average. The steamed dumplings were light and delicate but the sauce could have had a little more kick. It's the entree' that was disappointing. I ordered Garlic Chicken with black bean sauce but the dish came out swimming in brown gravy which is typical of Americanized Chinese food - lots of gravy. What was disappointing was there wasn't even a hint of black bean sauce. I had to use a knife to cut the pieces of green pepper - a knife is not a utensil generally required in a Chinese restaurant. The decor was pretty drab with old paneling but the staff was attentive and polite and I didn't feel out of place as I normally do when dining alone. They did have Cantonese style chow mein on the menu which is one of my favorites so I may go back an give that a try. Overall, the food isn't bad for Chinese American and the prices are very reasonable.

I went here for my Uncle's birthday. It wasn't bad, but wasn't exceptional, either. The menu was quite extensive, and the portions are huge, so there's no danger of going hungry here. All in all, its probably a decent choice for ABC fans that live close by, but I wouldn't say that its worth driving to, or choosing over anywhere else.

I have been to KIMS several times and have had a nice time. This Is not the best Chinese food I have ever eaten but it is by far not the worst, it is average. However there prices are awesome. I can take my fiance out and both of us get full meals with tip for about 16 bucks, that is not bad at all. And if it is just you eating then it's even cheaper. It is big, well lit, lots of seating and I have never had to really wait for a table. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. If you looking for a WOW Chinese food experience then this place may let you down, but if you are looking just to have a good time with family or friends and enjoy Chinese, then give KIMS a try.

I've been to Kim's on Several Occassions and there hasn't been a time I ever left disappointed. As a matter of fact interesting enough they just got done "Harrold and Kumar 3" in Kim's last month for about 2 days, so expect to see them in their upcoming movie so their that good. Alright now to Bizz If your looking for Unique and superstantial dinners, then this might not be your Jive, that being said, I love what they have nevertheless. The food is very reasonable for their pricing and as a matter of fact almost to the point of to pleantiiful, so that way if your not a big eater you can take some home for later. Their Egg Drop Soup has substantial Flavoring and the nice warm bread accompining it makes it that much better to dip into your soup. As for Their Meals including my fav their Seafood Warbar, you will not leave with a empty stomach that is for sure and if you have any room in your gut, there's always their array of desserts including ice cream, Fortune Cookies, Pudding, etc. All in All, this resturant may seem small in size maybe to some, but then again it packs a giant punch with it's great food, Service and Relaxing Atmosphere, not to mention the Boss greats everybody who walks in and also checks to make sure your getting the right Service and don't leave angry. I highly recommend this place for families, parties, and just those looking for something different as well and like previously stated, this is one place you will not go home hungry.

Had "Happy Family" which was quite good , and an irony since I was at dinner with divorcees. The portions were large. We shared and had plenty. Not an exciting menu but the vegetables were all very fresh and the sevice also was quite good. Wouldn't drive far to get there but definitely was an adequate Chinese restaurant.

If you drive past Kim's the first thing you will notice is the huge sign and the oriental themed building. I've been coming here for a few years now for food + bubble tea. The food at Kim's is mediocre. There is not one dish that really stands out and to be honest almost everything on the menu tastes the same to me and the only difference is in the type of meat I order with it. The do have some good combo deals and the portions are nice and big. This was the first place in Michigan that I did try bubble tea and I loved it at that point, however, now that I am more of a bubble tea connoisseur I would like to say that their bubble tea is sub-par. It is extremely watered down and the bubble tea smoothies have a thick milky taste from the cream that they use. It definitely takes away from the flavor and I've also noticed that their bubble tend to be harder than the ones at other places. The service at Kim's is good and the lady that owns the place is extremely friendly and courteous. Kim's definitely loses points on the bubble tea but the good service and average food gets it 3 stars.

The best in Metro Detroit. Great food, price, and service. I've been coming here for years and it's so nice to know that the owners know us and take the time to talk to us.

It's not really "Chinese food" - people in China don't eat buttered-bread with lunch or dinner. Well it's cheap and the portion of food is huge, but as for the taste, it's a no.

Although customer service is great and food portion are very generous, what's the point if the food is bland and has no flavor. I ordered my food to go and when I got to my hotel I ended up not eating most of the food I ordered because it had no flavor.

Usually Kim's is the best, everyone in my extended family all order from them. Last night was rather disappointing. I ordered buddahs delight no tofu and my entire meal had 4 pieces of broccoli, 2 chunks of water chestnut and ALL tofu. What a bummer.

Place is very hit or miss. Not consistent in flavor and portion size. I decided to get carry out from here a couple times and both times I actually had a hair in my food. Pretty gross if you ask me. Also, they're pretty petty when it comes to sauces. I ordered almond chicken and wanted to substitute the gravy for plum sauce on the side. $1 extra. Why would you charge extra if I'm substituting for the sauce that came with it? Only got a three star because of the rolls, soup, and egg rolls.
