I found my new favorite breakfast spot! Fresh ingredients, great menu, and very good coffee in a comfortable atmosphere. I enjoyed the breakfast burrito, and it was delicious. I would highly recommend Jonny Cakes!

This is a great little breakfast spot. The food was incredible and the coffee was great. Fast and friendly service too! Wish we had this in Chicago. If I'm ever in town again we will be back!!!

Awesome service! great food and hefty portions for the price. I had gone to grab some breakfast with a few of our out of town friends. I was running slightly behind and everyone had ordered. By the time I got there their food was coming out. I went over the menu and ordered. I GOT MY FOOD IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES! Only thing is, instead of the sausage that I ordered I got bacon. The sausages came in about the same time. I ordered the two eggs, potatoes, sausage and choice of pancakes or toast. I took the toast. Great atmosphere, industrial clean and new. Only thing was the place is not too condusive to large parties. There were 13 of us and we were squeezed unto this corner booth and added chairs. Otherwise great first experience!

If you close your eyes and imagine what a new brunch restaurant in Troy looks like, odds are you'll visualize something akin to Jonny Cake's. Spotless interior, exposed ceiling, fresh paint, a few framed pictures and of course it's in a strip mall. But this is far from your average diner in the suburbs. This place got game! I just stumbled out after a terrific breakfast here and I'm particularly impressed with their execution of an extensive menu that far exceeds many others around town. I'm more of a slut for savory but the sweet peeps out here will flip for all the tasty treats they have jumpin off (Reese's peanut butter pancakes with chocolate syrup, thank you sir may I please have another??). For $10, my omelette was borderline oversized in all the right ways with a dominant amount of ingredients of which they had a nice selection to choose from. You can pick up to four of them before making the serious life decision of what cheese to go with. One sticking point is that they unfortunately serve those stringy type of hash browns. Are those ever any good? Give this homeboy home fries please... At 11 A.M. on a Sunday, there was a nice crowd but our friendly hostess greeted us immediately upon arrival and promptly found us an open table. Our server was short on the small talk but fast with the service, refills and smiles. I truly had a great breakfast here and I'm bringing my sweet tooth with me on my next visit which will be in the very near future.

I can't think of a better place for breakfast in all of Metro Detroit. Their Eggs Benedict are absolutely divine, with the smoothest Hollandaise sauce I've had anywhere. DELISH! I'm a big fan of Eggs Benny, and these are some of the best I've wver had. Only downside: dry, uninteresting hash browns. Sub the fresh fruit instead. Advice to owners: don't ruin an otherwise fabulous experience with run-of-the-mill hash browns. Upgrade these puppies - fresh potatoes would be so much more a complement to the otherwise great, fresh menu.

Service was great and the environment is very peaceful. Interior design has a very warm feeling to it. The price is equivalent to the quantity, very large portions for its value. Only a few flaws, the chicken from chicken and waffle was a bit dry and bland. And its better off to stick with water because an orange juice is $6, same size as a water. Other than that, it would have been a five!

I found the place on Yelp. The service was great. The menu has a variety of things to try. I ordered the chicken and waffle and my friend the Mexican omelette. The waffle was prepared perfectly, crispy on the outside and tasty on the inside. They served it with warm syrup. The chicken breast nuggets were fried hard like they were purchased from a food services company and reheated in the kitchen. Homemade chicken deserves 5 stars. I would visit again to try the crepes, pancakes, and heuvos rancheros. It is a clean, fun, and friendly cafe.

The menu reminds me a lot of Hudson Cafe in downtown Detroit. Very similar but Hudson Cafe's Monte Cristo french toast is larger and better. Jonny Cakes french toast is a little soggier than I like and I like the kind of ham used at Hudson better too. Also, the size/portion is small which I actually am ok with so I'm not stuffing myself but they need to price it accordingly. $8.50 and toast isn't even included! Also, I tried their Loaded Berry french toast and although good, its just as small. Actually it's less filling as there's no meat like in the Cristo but they charge a dollar more. What? $9.50!?! And for all the variants of the french toast I could do with a little less of the raspberry sauce squirted all over the place especially the edge of the plate. Just focus squirting it on the food where it's usable. Moderation guys. Also, there $2 coffee is run of the mill tasting coffee will run of the mill regular half & half. For the prices they charge and the location the owners might want to consider having some different flavored creamers to pic from and maybe a higher end coffee by default or at least an option. And although they do have turkey sausage available, again $3 for two patties is kinda steep. Finally good WiFi is a bonus at any place I got and here it is plenty fast so thumbs up to that.

My wife and I split the French Toast sticks...AMAZING! I got the breakfast burrito while she got the chicken and waffles. Everything was plated well, and came out quick! I want to come back tomorrow.

My dad and I wanted to try a new place for breakfast nearby and decided to try this out. The resteraunt has nice decoration and is modern and does not feel cluttered. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. I got the berry crepes and my dad got the western skillet. They were both delicious! The berry crepes were what really stood out to me though because of all the fresh fruit within them. It wasn't overbearing with sweetness but had the perfect balance of sugar and crepe. The presentation was gorgeous too. We plan on coming back and trying out other dishes soon! definitely recommend!

My new favorite breakfast spot. The food is amazing. Large portions. Friendly staff. Great prices. You won't be disappointed!!!

It's rare finding a homey feeling diner in the area that also feels slightly modern. The food and prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was casual and relaxed. There's a lot of natural lighting and you can feel comfortable eating by yourself or in a group as large as 8!

The restaurant is very clean and the staff is friendly, but with out tasty cuisine, this place is just as bland as its food. I gave Jonny Cakes multiple tries before I could consider writing about this restaurant, and each try was a failure. The first time I ordered a salad and tomato basil soup to go. Feeling excited about the delicious soup the waitress recommended I could not wait to dig my spoon in. Upon opening the container of soup I couldnt help but notice a strong, unpleasant smell coming from my bowl. I understand that smell isnt everything so I held my nose and took the first bite. The taste was a combination of cheap Campbell's Tomato Soup and some herbs mixed in with an abundant about of salt. Considering the somewhat high for a diner price I was displeased, and not to mention I bought two bowls of it which ended in the garbage. The salad was fresh and I enjoyed it very much. They gave just the right amount of dressing. I do realize that restaurants have their bad days, so we decided to dine in for breakfast. Worst decision ever... how could you mess up corned beef hash and eggs? I'll tell you how they did it. The potatoes were undercooked and soaked in oil and mixed in with shredded pieces of corned beef. They called it homeade, and with the high prices, I figured it would have tasted great but I was wrong. Not to mention the eggs were dripping with oil. Everything was flavorless. Luckily it came with pancakes that were tasty. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Great food, fresh squeezed OJ. Try one of the skillets. They will substitute fresh fruit for hash browns!

Awesome place! Came here and got the chicken fingers pita and sweet potato fries and it was great!! So much I came back the next day for breakfast and got chicken and waffles and my hubby got their breakfast burrito, with a French toast stick appetizer :). We left very full but yet we were discussing what we are going to get next time we are here. Definitely will be back - super friendly staff and clean decor too!

Great spot for breakfast or lunch! Awesome service and very friendly staff. Would definitely recommend and you bet I'll be back!
(5)Olivia J.
This place was very clean and the staff was friendly. I made my own skillet and it was fresh and delicious! They have freshly squeezed OJ which is always nice to see on a menu. We didn't wait long for the food and it's Palm Sunday. I will definitely come back to try other things on the menu because all the food around me looked delicious.

I have been here three times. I've had a turkey wrap accompanied by sweet potato fries, the corned beef hash with eggs, and a farmhouse omelet. The sweet potato fries are the best I've had. Nice and hot, crisp on the outside, tender on the inside and not greasy at all. The wrap had a perfect balance of flavorful fresh ingredients. The hash browns that came with my omelet are crisp on the outside and are not greasy. The omelet is big and loaded with plenty of tasty ingredients. The rye toast is made from high quality marble rye, and the orange juice is freshly squeezed. My iced tea actually tastes like home brewed iced tea and not like that brown - toned water that merely met a tea bag once upon a time for a brief encounter bilge that many places serve. My only complaint was the corned beef hash as I think this should be about a 50/50 mix of potato to corned beef with some crispiness. Not the case here. This version is mostly potato and not crispy although the corned beef is good quality. The servers are friendly and efficient and endless drink refills are offered without prompting. This will be a regular in my breakfast/brunch rotation.

By far the best pancakes I've ever had, service was great and always smiling. The skillets are excellent I recommend the chill fry or the "the whoosh" burger. All in all awesome place with a friendly welcoming environment. Def will go back on regular basis.

We strayed from our usual to try JC. First impression was a clean, family friendly nice addition to Troy restaurant scene. Ordered the blueberry pancakes and hash browns. The pancakes were cooked perfectly (no soggy middles) with fresh blueberries. The hash browns were fresh, not frozen and delicious. Coffee was good and bountiful. The service was great and attentive. We will be visiting again and you should too.

My daughter loved the Reese's pancakes. I tried a bite and it is delicious. I had the chorizo benedict... Outstanding flavor!

Sooooo good! Their skillets are almost too good to be true. It is a very clean restaurant and everything on the menu is better than the next.

After my third visit I decided to write a review. Sweet tooths beware. The banana Nutella crepe is so amazing by the third visit I was ordering a meal and that as my dessert... For BRUNCH! :) I loved everything I have ordered! I even gave the chef Jonny a few pointers on his home style chili fry when he came over personally to my table asked how we enjoyed it! Whether you want the good old simple breakfast (eggs meat hash browns toast) or you're feeling to spice it up! This is the brunch spot to choose! Hurry though, don't forget they close at 3 :) oh ps pancakes are cooked perfectly!!!

Food was great. Portion sizes were huge. Too big almost. I was disappointed by speed of service, it took me and hour and a half for breakfast. Also the syrup pourers suck you have to shake it up and down for them to work but they're easy on the eyes. I agree with everyone that said prices were high. Service and cleanliness were good also.
