I can't remember how many times I have been here. Multiple friend outings, dates, lunches with coworkers and take out orders. I'm almost sick of this place (not really). Their lamb grape leaves are amazing, I could take a bath in that garlic paste and don't even get me started on the mango smoothie. The quality of food for the price is unbeatable and this is the best Mid East style I've had. I'm dating someone from Pakistan and he loves the food here. I live just down the street and will continue to be back for more!

Update: haven't been here in a while since the last fattoush I got was NOT good. Hope to try again soon Previous: My go-to for delicious food. Highly recommend! I always get the fattoush and extra garlic. Everything else is good, too!
(2)Nyree F.
My salad was great but this is the 2nd time they have given me burned bread. This time is especially horrible.
(2)Tea C.
The best hommus I have ever eaten is here. Also love their smoothies and their crushed lentil soup, as well as their lamb shwarma sandwiches. I've been coming here for years and highly recommend this place if you like middle eastern food. Exceptional!
(5)Rebecca R.
I eat here pretty much every Monday while at work. We call it in and someone else picks it up so this review is only in regards to the food. I think it's good. I try something a little different each time and have not found anything I didn't like except the spinach pie. I'm used to it having cheese in it but this did not. It wasn't so bad I didn't eat it but I've had better for sure. The reason I only gave 3 stars is it's really expensive.

We ordered carry out from here. The tabouli was amazing, it was very flavorful and hit the spot. The chicken shawarma was pretty good too. But the fattoush, my god it was awful awful awful!!! It was basically lettuce, tomato, and soggy pits chips- no dressing (it was dry!), no spices, and absolutely no flavor. Since this was a carry out, and I don't have any of these spices or dressing at home- it was quite disappointing to waste money on this "salad". The size of the salads was a pity too. Normally I can split a salad with someone, but instead here I ate the whole thing and was still hungry. Would I go back? Not until they actually put dressing on their fattoush, a staple in any Middle Eastern restaurant, and make the salad sizes bigger.

Horrible service. The waiter gave us the wrong order. We pointed it out to him and he became clearly irritated. He argued with us and finally pulled out the order slip, only to prove we were right. He then got more annoyed, snatched the plate up and went to the back. A lady came to our table to have us explain the situation. She then said "so your not going to eat this, you're going to let it go to waste?" Wow.... We just want what we ordered, is that asking too much? The waiter was clearly upset that he had to correct his mistake and was rude to us for the rest of the meal... The hiring practices of this place need some adjusting, absolutely horrible experience.... Food was just average..
(1)Nicole D.
Best Mediterranean food around! Their Chicken Shwarma sandwich is amazing! Highly recommend!
(5)Christina C.
My mom and I went here for some hummus and shawarma and we loved it! It's a nice atmosphere and not at all what I expected. There bread was delicious and the waitress we had was great!

First of all, I wish I could say I had the pleasure of eating here since fellow yelper Elvis made it seem so wonderful. Hard negative. My boyfriend and I walked in at 9:34 exactly this evening after seeing the restaurant fully lit up like Yankee Stadium and other tables still eating. We entered and sat ourselves as directed by the sign in the front. Before my boyfriend had fully sat down a waiter approached us pointing to the menu, directing us, "We close in 20 minutes, do it fast." Now, I understand the restaurant may have closing hours. I work in a restaurant as well. This is not how we should have been greeted much less spoken to. Not only that but the waiter did not even once look at my boyfriend, only speaking to me. Again, rude. We quickly got up as soon as we had sat and frankly will never return. One star for Grapeleaves, and if it was allowed, I would even suggest less than that.

I've given this place numerous tries, but I'm done ordering from here for awhile. I'm sitting here right now with no dinner because they messed up my entire order. I ordered the chicken cream chop dinner. Get home and it's a chicken cream chop sandwich. It is soggy with a sauce that doesn't taste good at all. This isn't the first screw up either. They've given the wrong soup, messed up sandwiches and sides before. Perhaps dining in would be better, or just check your entire order very thoroughly before leaving the parking lot. Too many strikes for me to forgive, will be finding somewhere else from now on.

This place is great! I have been going here every few months or so for the last several years, and always have a good experience. The food is always super tasty, and they have the best salad dressing of all the Lebanese restaurants I have ever been to!
(5)Rebecca B.
Garlic, hummus, shwarma, mjadra are all good. I misordered last time and got $25 worth of food. You'd think that since it was just me, the waitress would have clarified but she didn't. I didn't reduce the stars because I don't do that for service....but It was a bummer. Also there was a major argument between management and a waiter. It was in Arabic but from what I gathered the waiter wanted a table because he previously got a crummy tip but it wasn't his turn. It was awkward to watch. I am deducting a star for this because it was so unprofessional. Not as good as Dearborn but it is ok if you are in the mood.
(3)Dick E.
This place is very average. I think almost every area is lacking, from the service to the quality of the food. I used to come here all the time and now I remember why I stopped coming. Not sure if I'll give em another chance to win me over.
(3)B J.
Pretty standard Arabic food like many other restaurants in the area. The thing that makes it a bit worse is the service. It seems like they are always understaffed. There is also one server that I've had a few times who is downright unfriendly and acts like he'd rather be anywhere else in the world. I'm not sure if it's me, or if he's like that to everyone. I get carryout from here once in a while and I'm always shocked at how expensive it is. It's usually $40 easy for two entrees. That's not a huge deal to me, but just kind of annoying. Food is very similar to Pita Cafe but the service is much worse. Only reason I go there vs. Pita Cafe is the convenience, and not having to deal with parking in downtown Birmingham.
(3)Esha M.
Unfortunately the management at this restaurant is extremely petty and cheap. I ordered the cucumber yogurt with my kabobs and was unfortunately was given the garlic sauce. When I brought this to the attention of our waitress (who was great), she immediately went back to the kitchen to get the correct condiment. She promplty returned and told us that the kitchen will like the garlic sauce back before giving the yogurt!!! I was so shocked by this that I actually lost my appetite. The food is ok - definitely not amazing but not bad. I will not be returning because the management is so cheap. Lebanese grill is much better and not so petty over something so small as garlic sauce.

I am a regular here and as a creature of habit, I always get the same thing. I love their baba ganoush (best around in this area that I've tried), smoothies, their freshly baked bread, and their shish tawook sandwiches. I always order it to go so I cannot vouch for the service, but overall, I love this place and will continue to support them!
(4)Brandon R.
We get take out from here regularly. Love their hummus and chicken shwarmas! We typically get a few sandwiches, rice, and grilled veggies. All of it is very tasty! On occasion they are little light on the shwarma garlic mix and they are dry. The pita bread is also sooooooooo good here. Freshly oven baked, my daughter could eat these by the dozen and they are fairly big, The fries here (I know, not a place known for fries) are frikin awesome. Every person I have shared them with is blown away. The owners are pretty cool, they know me and always make sure I have a few pitas for my daughter. I have close friends that are lunch regulars here and many immediate family members in the area that are frequent patrons. Outdoor seating too which is a plus. Hard to beat a solid and typically healthy meal from Grape Leaves!
(4)Phyllis R.
Overall very good place to eat. I ordered a few appetizers and the vegetable Hummus dish. However, the vegetables that came with the hummus dish were a bit wilted, so I told the server that I didn't want it. She came back and said the owner offered to re-make it for me. At that point I really wasn't in the position to wait for another dish to be prepared and told her no thank you. The owner sent the waitress back with a fresh plate and offered it with no charge. Great way to win a customer! It's not that I'm looking for anything free; it's just nice an owner made an effort to satisfy a customer.
(4)Emma S.
Absolutely delicious food. I would say the best Middle Eastern cuisine in the area. I always get the vegetarian grape leaves and lentil soup but their chicken and sandwiches are also really really yummy. I also really like the people who work there. They always greet me with a smile and are very gracious. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
(5)Layne P.
I ordered carry out. They had my order ready to go when I arrived. The women that was assisting me didn't say 'hi', didn't say 'thank you', or 'bye'. In my opinion, she seemed too concerned about her nails and possibly that her job was beneath her. I can do without the attitude and ego. There are several options for this type of food and I would rather support a business that has good people. By the way, the salad portions are small, as I ordered the fattoush salad and just so so in taste. I'm taking my business to elsewhere.
(1)Rachel K.
Yum! This place is the bomb! From their soup and fresh bread to their falafel and chicken cream chop, I've never had anything there I didn't like. The fresh juices are also nice, and the garlic sauce is second to none!

Up until recently, I had never stepped foot into Grape Leaves, choosing to dine at La Marsa, instead. However, after my Mom found a heavy wad of plastic wrap in her meal with no apology and bad service, I decided to wash my hands of the place. Enter Grape Leaves. I went with two friends and was famished. First of all, as other reviewers have commented on bad service, I can't say I share that experience. We arrived without a reservation on a busy night, were seated promptly, were quickly brought water and menus and some time to look over the menu until we were ready to order. Grape Leaves has a LOT of vegetarians. Two of us are meat-free and had plenty to choose from. I ordered some lentil soup (my favorite) and some salad with feta on top. My friends ordered Shawarmas and Falafels but I wanted to keep it light. Our food arrived on time in generous portions - so much, I could have fed two people with my order! The side of bread was piping hot and our basket was refilled almost as soon as we were finished with the last bite. I would go here again. The prices were good, the environment was sparse but not uninviting and the choice of vegetarian meals was in my favor.

I have a love hate relationship with this place. But I think I finally decided that I was not particularly a fan, hence the stars I gave it. After moving from Miami to Michigan, I was told to try this restaurant as it had good Mediterranean food. The first 3 times I went, I loved it. So much that when my parents came to visit m, I went there, and they loved it as well. Fast forward a couple of months, I was studying for finals and it was snowing like crazy outside. I decided not to order pizza because I didn't want someone to drive in the snow because I was hungry, and plus - pizza isn't the healthiest food in the world, right? So I ordered the kibbeh nayeh, hummus and tabbouleh. I ate it and went back to studying.... I became so sick from the kibbeh nayeh (raw lamb) that I threw up the entire night. When I had a friend drive me to the final I had the next day (because I couldn't drive), I looked so sick to the professor that they didn't allow me to take the final. The schools doctor made me go home and not return for my next 2 finals (this was all in December). Needless to say I got the most wicked stomach virus that I have ever gotten in my life, and I consider myself to have an insanely strong digestive system. When other people get sick from all eating the same food I don't. I had blood work, it indicated that my liver enzymes showed signs of liver damage. I lost about 10 pounds and got sick up to 2 weeks after that after other meals. I was on a constant balance of medications to keep me from throwing up or having to go to the bathroom, especially since I had to take about 3 flights in those 2 weeks. I have never had my LIVER hurt, I woke up about 3 days in row because laying down was hurting me. I never had a culture test so I cant attest with 100% certainty to what I had, but I'm pretty certain with my signs and symptoms that is was an E.coli bactermia. I am still currently undergoing a liver detoxification protocol. I considered contacting whatever agency you contact when you're sick, but I never did because I went back home. Then I thought about contacting the restaurant and I remembered that even though I don't require to be treated like a princess when I get service, people here weren't generally happy for your service, at least the guy that I've dealt with on numerous occasions when I order out. I decided that I probably was not going to get very far. (of course all of this was an internal opinion, I honestly can say with certainty what would've happened). My purpose in writing all of this is so you can be aware that you should not order raw meat from this place because they obviously breach their protocol in handling meats. As a restaurant that offers anything raw - they should be SO and I mean SO particularly anal about how they handle all of these dishes. So if you do go order things that are cooked. I'm very certain that had I been someone that was immunocompromised, older or younger - my story would've gone in another direction.
(2)Alex P.
Exceeded my expectations. Was getting the car serviced down the street and decided to come here for lunch. Gyro's are spot on. The hummus and fresh hot bread are a must. Cozy little pace hidden away in this strip mall. Will be back to try some of their other items.

The upscale strip mall setting -- complete with Whole Foods! -- does little to correctly advertise the excellent Lebanese food cooked up at Grape Leaves. The secret to making middle eastern dining affordable is ordering your entree inside of bread; the wraps here offer samples of Mediterranean dishes that, while still substantial enough to satisfy, don't break the bank or belt like similar offerings on the entree section. The fried cauliflower, chicken cream chop, and -- hopefully not surprisingly -- grape leaf wraps are all impressive takes on metro-Mediterranean staples. I like to pad my order with a bowl of the outstanding crushed lentil, a perfect pair for the lonely, garlic sauce starved bread pockets served to every table. A plate of pickles and pickled turnips also helps flesh out the meal at an unbelievably low price point. My service has always been courteous and prompt, though I have received a few mildly incorrect orders that I ended up turning into minor culinary voyages. Once I started to get to know the waiters, negotiating the orders became much less of a hassle. Normal dinner rushes can appear deceptively calm at Grape Leaves until you start to notice the substantial carry-out business that the restaurant caters to; don't expect the service to be impeccable during rush hour. As an interesting, and more deeply depressing, tangential observation, I have yet to find a restaurant where the staff are so rudely treated on such a regular basis. Stories of objectively terrible service aside, some of this powerfully weird sentiment is captured in other reviews here, particularly the one where an indignant connoisseur has a hard time identifying pickled turnips.

Best middle eastern around- AMAZING garlic spread, AMAZING chicken ghallaba pita, AMAZING greek salad...do I need to continue? If you have an opportunity, stop by for a taste! You won't be disappointed :)
(5)Haroun K.
Grape Leaves reminds me a lot of Pita Cafe, which is a good thing. The fluffy pitas, the comfy booths, the nice music in the background. The falafel sandwich is loaded with hummus, and is one of the best in the suburbs. The fattoush is respectable, and the mujadra is pretty spot on. The side salad with the mujadra was loaded with onions, which was perfect. I think the mujadra could do with a few more pickled turnips (it only came with one). Service was excellent, and it is very nicely located next to a TCBY (for dessert) and a dry cleaners (so you can use your shirt as a napkin and take care of it later).
(4)Julie C.
I've always picked up so I can't speak to the table service. Picks ups have always been quick & well packaged. The warm fresh pitas keep me coming back. They are delish!!! Soup & schwarma good as well.
(5)The Critic C.
After 2 years of not coming back to Grape Leaves, where the soups started smelling like cigarettes and the dinners were skimpy, we tried again tonight. $40 for 2 skimp-o-la dinners and an extra order of soup and some humus. My chicken kafta was pretty much ground chicken w/ no real spice or taste and I got no veggies aside from the nasty garnish of a pink pickled whatchamajigger and a side of greasy flavorless rice. Same with the second dinner sans a few carrot slices about the size of your pinky finger. The bread was OK but nothing to write home about. The crushed lentil was tasty but, not $40 tasty. There were new owners and I thought maybe things would be better, but apparently not. Save your time, save your money. We will not be back. Ya blew it.
(1)Tp S.
This is my favorite middle eastern restaurant and I work in Dearborn!! I go at least once a week and it's awesome! My favorite is the Fattoush Tawook with garlic and hummus (I add this on top of the salad!) YUM ! The service is great as well!
(5)Tony S.
I thought I reviewed this place... huh. I've been here a couple of times before and both times were good, the lamb was very good and at the time they gave you a choice of a more expensive cut of lamb but recently it hasn't been on the menu. The good: The bread. I think this might be the best middle east bread I've had.. I'm not sure but it looks like there are little dots on the outside of the bread like sesame seeds or something. I must say, the Baba, garlic paste, hummus and grilled vegetables were really good. The people I were with raved about it. The bad: I don't remember any bad. Comments: The lamb & chicken were fine and good quality, like I said they had some better lamb a few years ago offered. I was just at Cedar Garden a week before (in St Clair Shores) and the lamb and chicken were seasoned better than here (or at least more to my preference) so that tempered my experience here. With that being said, this place is a good bet for vegetarians. Rating: 4.25 Stars
(4)Anthony B.
Came here for dinner tonight while driving by and took a chance because I was in a hurry but wanted to have a nice sit down meal with my son. We sat outside, our waitress was over right away, and took our order when she gave us menus because I knew what to get, 2 schwarma sandwiches and a salad to split. Our food was out in less than 5 minutes, it was fter than Jimmy Johns. It was good the chicken was not over cooked, and it came with a basket of bread. For dessert, they gave my son a coupon for free kids cone next door at TCBY. We will definitely be back!
(5)Carlito A.
Longtime diner, first time reviewer of this cozy mediterranean restaurant in Troy. Took the family here for dinner this afternoon. The subzero temps were probably the main reason most of the customers were coming in only to pick up take out orders. So we had the restaurant all to ourselves. As every other time we've eaten here, service was very accommodating, food was delicious and plentiful. We ordered the platter for two and, even though there were four of us, we still had plenty to bring home afterwards.
(4)B M.
I work close by to this place and its the only Arabic restaurant close-by without driving a few extra miles. The food is very good, there's not denying, but the staff is deplorable! I've gone in and ate and ordered carry-out and neither is better than the other. The times I've gone in there with co-workers, the service was slow, our orders got screwed up, and when we told them something wasn't right about the food, they got down-right nasty with us! Every time when I have called in a carry-out order, I get the same rude service. The guy who answers the phone (who I think is the owner) is extremely rude and has such a tone like you are bothering him by calling his establishment and wanting to give him business! They all seem to have this mentality that they are superior to their patrons. This restaurant needs a serious attitude adjustment or they will end up losing a lot of customers; sorry to say.
(2)Kooky K T.
Not my favorite. It just leaves something to be desired, but maybe it is because I'm comparing the food to another Middle Eastern restaurant in the area... Not the same unfortunately, as far as flavor. The staff is friendly, and the place is very inviting and clean.
(3)Shannon S.
I tried some new things last night, Mujadura.....which was interesting, and good...everything else, I have had before.. Kibbe naye, hummous, baba, bread, and chicken, beef, and lamb - all were very good. The service was okay...it wasn't a bad as others have stated, but I think we got lucky with our perky waitress... I saw other servers and they looked grumpy and mean... I've eaten at better Mediterranean restaurants however. Not sure I'd go back to this location, maybe for a quick carryout if I were in the area. I am enjoying some yummy leftovers this morning! mmmmm :)
(3)I Am S.
Not only is Sancho obsessed with quality, but it should be known Sancho also grew up eating home-cooked Middle-Eastern food. They give Sancho the warm, golden belly-glow of a good meal cooked with care. I used to work nearby and have been here many, many times, tried much of the menu and can attest to the tastiness, depth and consistency of the food. A dream of mine is to have every single dish on the menu displayed on a giant medieval table, then for Sancho to be unleashed like a caged lion from three days of captivity and starvation right in front of the table, armed only with the warm bread for an eating utensil.
(5)Jane K.
The food was good - fresh, hot, nicely seasoned - however I can only give this Grape Leaves location one star because the service was lousy. When we arrived, the restaurant was not crowded but nevertheless, we had to get our own menus and our own silverware because no one brought them over. The waiter did not even say hello when he first approached the table; he said only, "What do you want to order." This with no eye contact, bored expression. When he brought the food, he used the entree plates to push the appetizer plates to the back of the table. Really? He did not check back with us even once after the entrees were served...so we had to fetch our own to-go boxes and walk across the length of the restaurant to ask the waiter for our check. Forget about refills on the water glasses. Very disappointing. Let me add that we've been to the Oak Park location of Grape Leaves and the service there was terrific.
(1)Adrienne D.
good cheap food
(4)Robert G.
I have been going to Grape Leaves on Maple for years now and have never had a bad meal. In fact, I feel they provide the best middle eastern food in the area. The service is exceptional and I always ask for Lauren as she is very attentive to the details. Further, then owner Brian is engaged in all aspects of the business and makes it a goal to meet all his customers and develop long term relationships with them. He makes you feel like you are eating with friends each and every time you go there. I would strongly recommend Grape Leaves for great food? Service and attention to detail.
(5)Pratheep S.
I am usually anti-chain restaurants (and Grape Leaves is a chain now, with multiple locations). However, I absolutely love this place. Among all of the Middle Eastern Carryouts in Metro-D this is the spot I go to most. I cannot vouch for the other locations, but the Troy location is amazing. What I like: The hot bread that comes with the hummus is awesome. Can be reheated several days later as well. I typically get sandwiches - Kafta, Chicken Shwarma, and Fallafel are my three favorite. They also have a really good sauteed dishes, including one with jalapenos sauteed in with lamb. I typically get these dishes when having company. What I don't like: The grape leaves, ironically, are not always great. Sometimes you can tell they were cooked awhile back and just microwaved. However, I have yet to find a Middle Eastern restaurant that does not do this. My standard Yelp disclaimer: I have a South Indian palate. I am naturally accustomed to spicier foods and less salt.
(5)Erica A.
Great food. Good prices. Service is always great and they never mess up a carry out, which I love that I don't have to worry about that. Trust me, if you try this place you wont be disappointed. My fave is the Chx Shwarma sandwich. Wish they had some good turshi, but I get pickled pickles and turnips to take the turshi craving away lol
(4)Lynn W.
I generally pick food up from the Troy Grape Leaves location; I've never eaten in. I usually eat vegetarian food, so Grape Leaves is a great option for me for work lunches. I am a big fan of the mujudara sandwich, the hummus, the grape leaves, the bread, the fries and the fattoush. My coworker raves about how perfectly spiced the chicken shwarma sandwich is. The bread isn't pita; instead it comes directly out of their new wood-burning oven. It is always warm and wonderful. The mujudara is great, and the grape leaves are just the right mixture of soft, yummy spice. The only reason I'm giving four instead of five stars is because most of the food is kind of expensive. You can go cheap with a sandwich, but they aren't very big.
(4)Christina R.
This plaza mall little nook was a pleasant surprise! The Lebanese mains were great (lamb, hummous, tabbouleh, lentil soup) and as traditional as Tourza, North Lebanon. In Windsor, there has been a recent ban on Kibbe nayyeh or raw kibbeh, so unless your situ is slaving away to prepare for Sunday lunch, you're shit out of luck. Thankfully in Michigan, Kibbe nayyeh is alive and well and being served the exact way a situ prepares it. It's a reasonable, fresh, and cozy restaurant and I will surely be returning.
(4)J D.
Absolutely HORRIBLE. Worst service I have ever experienced - they are completely sexiest on top of it! Our server practically threw our food at us, never checked on us, and gave us the wrong bills. I will never go back. Not worth it.
(1)Thomas M.
We asked for garlic and tahini sauce and the waiter said "Yes." But the expression on his face and tone really said: "I GUESS..." Moody, indifferent service is the downfall of this otherwise solid Mediterranean restaurant. I've dined many times and have always liked the food but have been frustrated with the crappy servers to the point where I can only laugh. I'm sorry, but for the lackadaisical service Grape Leaves offers, there are way too many other options that are just as good if not better in the Metro Detroit area where money is better spent.
(2)Beverly C.
This is one of my go to places in metro-detroit for awesome middle eastern food and offers great prices for home made food! Love the bread, hommus, and chicken schwarma. The garlic sauce is delicious but have mints handy!
(5)Sarah C.
This is one of my favorite go-to spots for lunch (carry-out) because the prices are good, the food is tasty and the drive is only two minutes. The quality of food served is always spot-on - however the attention to detail isn't. Hence my 4 out of 5 stars... For example: One week, I might order a chicken shwarma sandwich (no pickles) with a bowl of crushed lentil soup. I'll get exactly what I ask for. The next week I might place the same order, but I'll wind up finding in my bag a shish tawook sandwich instead. I've never complained, partly because I'm already in my car driving back and partly because the shish tawook is still darn good. The crushed lentil soup is always delicious. Always. Occasionally it isn't as warm as it should be, however. If I had to drive 15 minutes before eating it, this would be excusable. But since I'm literally a mile away... it really should still be piping when I get back to work. On a final note, the bread they serve is like crack. Not that I know what crack is like, but I imagine that this bread would be similar. (Work with me here, people.) It's addictive and ALWAYS hot. Crispy outside, doughy center... OM NOM NOM NOM NOM. If I got to choose what I died from, I'd like to overdose on this stuff. For reals. So good.
(4)Seth M.
This place is OK. For some reason the few times I've been here, I got the same waiter, some guy who thinks he's the cat's pajama's, doesn't greet you when you walk in, and acts like he's doing you a favor by serving you. Aside from this, their food is decent, nothing special, nothing to write home about...there are better places within the area.
(2)Jordan H.
Food is fantastic here. Service is often overwhelmed by the crowd but nothing serious enough to ding the rating more than 1 star. Then again, my parents know the staff so if I weren't with them who knows. I see service is a big issue here in general.
(4)Jeffrey A.
This one's going to be short and sweet with little detail. I grew up in a middle eastern household. This means my review is more authentic, automatically, than most of the others for this same restaurant, by virtue of my heritage and trained taste buds. The food at Grape Leaves is damn good. Service is decent. Prices are reasonable. P.S. The "sauteed" cauliflower on the menu (very good) is actually fried. I asked them.
(4)Andrea S.
Love the food and fresh baked bread here. The sandwiches are a great deal - my fave is the tawook (grilled chicken breast) hommus and tabouli. All my faves wrapped up together!
(4)Alexandra K.
Amazing whole lentil soup, deliciously strong whipped garlic, and perfectly cooked mujadara. I enjoyed every bite of my meal at Grape Leaves, but it is definitely more expensive (still not enough to be called expensive) than most Middle Eastern restaurants. I only wish they served the same warm puffy pitas that Pita Cafe does.
(4)Kathleen T.
I am really surprised by the low rating this restaurant got so I read all of the reviews and it seems as though the majority of people if rating this place on food only would give this place 4 - 5 stars. i couldn't agree more. Although I may prefer 2booli or Pita Cafe a SMIDGE more that place was fantastic. We ordered 2 chicken with mushroom sautee. The waiter accidentally gave us lamb. To be honest I didn't even notice. If it wasn't for my "no red meat" teenager no one at table would have noticed. I liked mine so much that I kept the lamb. So, so, so good! It came with rice AND hummus. Had I known dinner cam with hummus I wouldn't have ordered a large one as an appetizer but I am sure I just didn't read the menu carefully enough. The waiter quickly appologized when the error in food was pointed out. I tried the chicken sautee when it came out. So good but I was so full by then! We also ordered a side of sautee mushrooms. OMG! A little piece of heaven. I would come here again for those alone. The bread was airy pockets of deliciousness. Now I notice the reason Grape Leaves gets a little lower rating is due to service. Maybe we just got lucky but we were then on a Saturday night. The place was very busy with dine in and carry out. Hakim was our server. He was AWESOME! Other than the snafu with us getting the wrong meals he was on the ball. He acknowledged us the moment we sat. He got us everything in a decent amount of time. He was very apologetic about the dinner mix up. We never had to ask for refills on our drinks. My opinion would be to people not to pass this place up as the food is awesome. If the service is the issue, ask for Hakim!!!! Will be back again. Thank you!!

This is the best there is. Everything I have had there is great! The service is good and if you carry out, they are super quick! You never have to wait long. Best tip: if you are getting the dinner combo for 2, it can really feed about 5-6 people. They are definitely huge portions.
(5)Larry H.
The best middle eastern food in the area. Any of their sautéed dinner's with chicken or lamb are a little slice of heaven. You have to try it. I recommend the sautéed chicken with mushrooms. You will not regret it.
(5)Marco P.
The Good: Hummus/tabouleh sandwich with dark meat chicken. Delicious! Crushed lentil soup...Also delicious! BAD: The staff is unfriendly, rude and seem to bothered they are working. The only smile or "nice" words from the waitress were when she left the check for us to pay. Would have given 4 stars if nicer staff.
(3)Karen K.
Great food! The shawarma sandwiches are delicious! And like $4! Which is freakin awesome! Remember to ask for the garlic paste if you order the bread! It's not included. I have never dined in but the carry out has fast service!
(4)Emily L.
I've had some sandwiches, the crushed lentil soup, and the vegetarian combo here. All were decent. I liked that the crushed lentil soup came with a lemon wedge. Not as tasty as the soup at Lebanese Grill but still good. My only complaints... -There was way too much lemon juice in the tabbouli. I think it was scooped with a ladle or something because it was swimming in lemon juice and was, as a result, ridiculously sour. -They give you pitas and baked pitas in the beginning. I wish they would also provide garlic sauce or olive oil or something, but I get it, they want me to order some hummus. -The restaurant is really tiny and has a really drafty door. Eating there in the winter is unbearably cold. All in all, Grape Leaves is A-OK. I very much prefer Lebanese Grill (fresh pitas, and the crushed lentil soup is amazing) and La Marsa (delectable fresh pitas and free, yummy garlic sauce) over Grape Leaves. I pretty much only go to Grape Leaves if I am feeling really lazy as it is closer to my house, or if I have a coupon, which you can sometimes find in the mail.
(3)Claire D.
The biggest problem I have with Grape Leaves is the service. I LOVE their chicken schwarma and I think the hummus is divine but the effort it takes for the waiter to refill my water or to get my order correct isn't even worth me going any more. Oh Grape Leaves, how you taunt me. I returned to this place in the hopes of a repeat performance of outstanding service I got the last time I was there (the blonde! she is the best) but it seems as if I had the good fortune of being trapped in a mirage for the previous visit. The service was the worst it's has even been (our orders were not even close to being correct and I know the waiter has worked there for quite some time). It's so disapointing. I will miss you wonderful food.

Yes, I realize I need to branch out and get to some new places....thanks... However, I DID try something new here that had to be yelped about. My girlfriend and I went and did start off with our usual lentil soup and hummus and garlic spread...which was fantastic as always! We decided to try the cauliflower appetizer with tahini sauce...I wasn't expecting much but WOW....perfectly sauteed(crispy, not greasy) cauliflower and burnt onions and that fantastic sauce...a MUST have...add some hummus to it and it is a winner! Also tried for the first time, surprisingly, the veggie grape leaves....strong flavor to the grape leaves themselves and they were stuffed with a delicious sauce and rice........however, we had gorged ourselves on the soup and bread we could only eat one each. Grape Leaves aren't my favorite thing in the the world, but these were truly top notch! Service was good once again...hopefully it is improving!
(4)Emi R.
The ambiance definitely leaves something to be desired, but the food is quite good. I usually get lunch takeout here (lamb schwarma sandwich and baklava), and it's always good. Their baklava is seriously among the best I've ever had and their hummus is fabulous. I love this as a takeout spot, but eating here isn't what I would list as one of the most pleasant experiences I've ever had. The staff is a little distant and apathetic, and the decoration is a little bland. But the food is so yum that I don't even care.

I'd never been to Grape Leaves before and my BFF suggested we meet there for dinner. I'm usually an Anita's fan but they've been weird lately so I thought I'd try somewhere else. When we walked in, the decor was, for lack of a better word, bizarre. They weren't too busy but it was only 6:30. We were shown to a table right next to the kitchen (which is totally the worst seat in the house). The waiter seemed to have better things to do than wait on us but eventually he brought us menus and ice water. I perused the menu, pretty large and pricier than I would have expected. I will walk on water for good garlic spread and soft pita bread so that's what I always try at each new place. I also opted for the Chicken Shwarma with rice. The garlic dip was really good, but the waiter neglected to tell me that the chicken I ordered came with garlic dip already (so I ended up with two dishes for myself!). The chicken was tasty but the rice was boring and I didn't eat it. Pricey for what you get and served by an apathetic waitstaff but tasted good. I'll be getting mine to go next time.
(3)Nate K.
I have been going here for 5+ years and the food has continually gotten better. They always fulfill my request for extra garlic sauce on my chicken shwarma and the quality never drops off for a quick carry-out. The new, puffed pitas are a great addition. My wife loves the lentil soup. Always an easy option for a quick, good dinner.
(4)Ashley A.
I love their hummus. Actually its my favorite hummus of anywhere, it is insanely smooth. To be honest though, I havent tried much else, I usually get a falafal wrap and smoother it in more hummus. Did I mention they have hummus?
(4)Steve J.
Service was a little slow for lunch but lamb kababobs were super tender and seasoned well.
(3)Marci M.
We just wanted a quick meal last night, nothing huge or fancy. We used to come here all the time, but for some reason wandered away for awhile. I have to say that they have the best crushed Lentil soup around. I am not sure what they do to it, maybe I don't want to know but it is the best. Salad and sandwiches were good, but that soup!
(4)Clara Y.
I really enjoy coming to this restaurant. Carry out is super fast and the staff is very friendly :) Although the restaurant is small, it has a nice ambiance and is priced very well. The Lentil soup here is delicious and they have lots of small healthy veggie and non veggie sandwiches and shwarma to choose from. I like their spinach pie because it doesn't have cheese in it and they usually offer me a free smoothie when I am waiting for my carry out. Caution, during the week I have noticed that it gets pretty busy at lunch and its a small place!
(4)Bri A.
This place must be under new ownership or something. Its been a steady decline over the last few years. I use to love this place, but each visit keeps getting worse. I'm done wasting my money here. #1...THE WAIT STAFF SUCKS!!!!! Hands down the worst wait staff of any place I've ever gone to...EVER! I can totally understand the remarks left by Thomas M!...the service is so pathetic, it does get to the point of laughter. McDonald's has better service. The only reason I'm leaving 2 stars is that I didn't get sick on the food. That to has steadily declined. I was so pissed when we left, I wouldn't eat at this place for free. Nothing like paying good money for mediocre food and absolutely horrible service. I always tip 20-25%, the staff here doesn't earn 10%. Like I said, my wife and I loved this place for years, but its gone way down hill.
(2)D B.
Being from out of town, my first experience was good. I would also return if I'm in the area again. If your a vegan, I would suggest their Falafal Sandwiches and ask them to spice it up. :)
(3)Patrick L.
OK, I hate to do this to an old favorite, but I'm knocking them down a star. The tomato kibbee is still a favorite, but they seem to be slacking on it. It's been almost too oily and salty lately, instead of the delicate balance of spices that I remember. Also, the lamb was pretty dry the last time I was in. The servers are starting to get on my nerves too. Step it up, guys!
(3)Elizabeth C.
This place gets four stars because (1) it has the best baba ghanoush I've ever had; and (2) the rice pudding is awesome. Other than that, the falafel is good, but doesn't stand out from any other falafel I've had; soup is fine. The veggie stuffed grape leaves are just ok. As far as atmosphere goes, it's fine--nothing to write home about. But the baba ghanoush is to die for--I dream about that stuff.
(4)Em H.
The food here is good, but so is the food at most middle-eastern restaurants. The service was atrocious, and I saw a hair in one of the dishes. With so many great middle-eastern places to choose from, I would not go back here.
(1)Ken G.
This place has good Middle Eastern/Lebanese food, but the service can be trying. Last time I was there we were a party of three. We ordered falafel as an appetizer in addition to our main dishes. The main dishes arrived and the falafel finally came several minutes after our main dishes. I complained to the waiter that we ordered the falafel as an appetizer and was supposed to come before the main dishes, not after. He gave me a blank stare, shrugged his shoulders and walked away. Should anyone have to put up with servce like this?
(2)Cristina B.
In town for work, so in my many ventures around Southfield, my colleague and I came across this locale after shopping at Whole Foods (located on the same strip). Luckily, we both love middle eastern food. We started with the Starter Combo (hommous, baba ghanooj and tabbouli) - the hummus was good like other reviewers had mentioned, but I felt that the baba ghanooj was better. It had great texture and a nice smokey flavor that meshed well with their homemade pita like bread. For entrees, I ordered the half deboned grilled chicken with grilled vegetabes and a salad side. The dish was great especially with the garlic/yogurt sauce. My colleague had the shrimp ghallaba with rice which she enjoyed too. Food was good, and definitely a favorite with locals - many folks were ordering pick up, so why the 3 stars? Like other reviewers, the service was not so good - the waiter was indifferent and bothered when we asked about the menu options. Overall, if you are in town, looking for hearty middle easter food and don't mind shitty service and average decor, then you should give it try.
(3)Stefanie H.
(3)Emily M.
(5)Nao Saudade S.
(2)Pete R.
(4)Malia E.
(1)M W.
(1)Ashley W.
(1)Melissa L.
(5)Thomas M.

(5)Julie C.
I've always picked up so I can't speak to the table service. Picks ups have always been quick & well packaged. The warm fresh pitas keep me coming back. They are delish!!! Soup & schwarma good as well.

Ya blew it.

Not my favorite. It just leaves something to be desired, but maybe it is because I'm comparing the food to another Middle Eastern restaurant in the area... Not the same unfortunately, as far as flavor. The staff is friendly, and the place is very inviting and clean.

This is my favorite middle eastern restaurant and I work in Dearborn!! I go at least once a week and it's awesome! My favorite is the Fattoush Tawook with garlic and hummus (I add this on top of the salad!) YUM ! The service is great as well!

I am enjoying some yummy leftovers this morning! mmmmm :)

Absolutely HORRIBLE. Worst service I have ever experienced - they are completely sexiest on top of it! Our server practically threw our food at us, never checked on us, and gave us the wrong bills. I will never go back. Not worth it.

This is one of my go to places in metro-detroit for awesome middle eastern food and offers great prices for home made food! Love the bread, hommus, and chicken schwarma. The garlic sauce is delicious but have mints handy!

For reals. So good.

Thank you!!
(4)Ravae W.

(5)Alexandra K.
