Country Chef is a good but not great diner. The menu seems to be kind of hit-or-miss, which is a common problem with diners that load their menu with 9,000 choices (such as this place does). For every dish they do an excellent job of, there seems to be something else which disappoints. It's hard to keep your ingredients fresh and devote the correct time and attention to every option on the menu when the menu becomes too bloated. It's a simple fact, very few places can manage a bloated menu gracefully. The closest to Greatness I have tried from Country Chef is their Hot Turkey Sandwich. It's seriously one of the best around and you can believe me, I've been searching. They use REAL turkey fresh-carved in hunks off the bird. The gravy is solid. The mashed potatoes are tasty but nothing mindblowing. The green beans that came with it were not very good. Definitely worth going back for the Hot Turkey, though. I could eat this thing all the time. Next up would be the Fish n Chips. The fish itself is very nicely done (and a generous portion taboot) but their "chips" leave something to be desired. They're not bad fries. But they're just ok. Kind of bland and boring. Put enough malt vinegar on them and they become more enjoyable. I've also tried some pretty good Cabbage Soup, a serviceable Greek Salad, and a fairly lackluster Coney Dog & Fries combo. I can't imagine ever ordering any of these again (aside from maybe the Cabbage Soup). Country Chef is only a few blocks from where I work so I'll definitely be back. I still need to try their breakfast along with some other lunchy/dinnery items. Given the law of averages there has to be some other stuff to compare in quality with their Hot Turkey Sandwich.

I stopped here before visiting my sister-in-law's house in Troy. I had to search Yelp for a good 15 minutes before I found anything well-rated in the area! I was greeted promptly and told to sit anywhere I wanted. The server was friendly and gave me time to look over the menu. I decided on one of their breakfast specials for only $4. My breakfast came out quickly. My favorite item was their delicious potato cakes a.k.a. hash brown patties. They were perfectly seasoned, crispy and addictive. The eggs, toast and bacon were all wonderful as well. I had a nice breakfast at Country Chef and would recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

Solid diner food!! I would compare it to Leo's Country Oven in Madison Heights. They both do great breakfasts and have your standard Greek-owned diner fare. My son LOVES their spaghetti, he will devour the whole plate!! Breakfasts, salads, i've not had a bad meal here. It's great in a pinch and if it's convenient to you.. Good prices. /Diner!

Best food with the best prices. FOR A DINER. This is not "top of the line" food but man does it taste good. The bread, the soups, the veal, the mashed potatoes, the chicken fingers, the fries, everything I have had so far is so delicious I am craving it now. Such cheap prices, too. It's a great diner to go to. The food is amazing. Give it a try!

Only got breakfast to go but it was a good price and was ready for pick up in 10 mins. The breakfast combo I got was great and I love their links, will come again when hungry for some good filling breakfast.

My wife and I go here quite often. It's a no frills family owned and operated diner. Prices are great, service is great and the food is good. The highlight of the menu are their fish and chips. Best in town. Period.

Love this place! My family and I have been coming here for years and years! Great food and great service! You get a lot of food for a low price. The best part is that you feel like you are at home when you eat here. The place is very welcoming.

Dirty! Cook eats while cooking! Definitely don't order the chicken kabobs. Wayyyyy overlooked with room temp rice. Salad with bad shredded? lettuce and lots of water in the bowl. I'm grossed out.

We almost left when we saw the inside, but my kids were hungry so we stayed. Do not let the appearance (outside or inside) keep you away. The food is really good tasting, and you get a lot of it for the price. We tried the cabbage soup, mashed potatoes, fish and chips, and pulled pork. All were very, very good. The waitresses are very friendly as well.

This place has the BEST fish 'n chips in the area as far as I'm concerned. You get a HUGE amount of food (I couldn't even finish my dinner) that included soup, salad and a desert. The batter is light and flaky and perfectly cooked everytime. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because the decor and bathrooms leave a lot to be desired. The place is in dire need of a makeover.

Interior definitely needs updates but the staff and food make up for it. If this your first time I recommend the fish and chips or the cabbage soup.

Checked this restaurant out while hungry and in the neighbourhood. We were not disappointed. The service was fast and friendly, the soup was great and my lunch special was filling and delicious. Couldn't believe how much we got for the price. We'll definitely be back.

You won't leave hungry! I've been coming here all my life and the food is a great value! Almost everything on the menu is under $10 except a full slab of BBQ ribs that could feed me for several nights. The food is delicious, the bathrooms are clean, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is comfortable. Two thumbs up!

I ordered a dinner. I've been here before but never reviewed it. the food is plentiful and good. dinner portion includes soup and (not or) salad, entree, bread basket, and a limited choice of dessert. it is a family type place, not too loud. just the basics, which is enough.
