This is one of the best chain restaurants i have ever eaten at. I'm in love with their burgers. I have eaten pasta here and its good for a sports bar, but this isn't an Italian restaurant so i wasn't expecting it to be spectacular. They have a good variety of food on their menu so you could bring kids her and groups. The hosts and servers are attentive and friendly. I just hate that its so far from where i live. Great place to hang out with friends and have a drink.

Three things. 1. Great place to watch the game. Big screen TVs every which way. Big enough for the whole family. 2. Hands down, the best fish and chips in Michigan. I know these are fightin' words. I don't much care. 3. I would describe this place as the lovechild of an affair between a Cheesecake Factory and an ESPN Sports bar. If that sounds good to you (why wouldn't it), then quit yer complaining and have fun.

It's been a while since I had been to this location. Food is good as always but what stood out was how awesome our server was. Quick delivery and great personality. I wish I could remember her name but we will be back. I wish those in the service industry defaulted to this type of winning attitude.

Always OK, and plenty of TVs to watch sports. Best thing on the menu, in my opinion, is the chicken salad sandwich.

Clean everywhere, fast friendly service, tasty food and good value - that's what set's this sports type bar/restaurant apart from most. I had the NY strip with coconut shrimp and thoroughly enjoyed every bit. I didn't have much room for the grilled veggies, but they were very good. The salad was fresh as could be and served with the dressing on the side, which was just the right amount. The mashed potatoes were also tasty - though I only had room for a couple of spoonfuls. You know how I am about coffee - well - this place actually served pretty darn good coffee too and they not only gave you a nice hot cup, but you own little carafe too! A special shout out to DEBI - who was one hell of a good waitress and made the entire meal even more enjoyable! I'd surely return to this place. I'd give this a 5 star, but it's still a little too noisy for me, but most might give it the 5 star because they crave the noise and excitement.

Celebrated our granddaughters 2nd birthday in the back room at Champs. We had over 20 guests and received such great service throughout the entire celebration . The food was delicious, but the service and atmosphere is what would bring us back.

So a group from work landed here for dinner- nice menu, availability of seating, good location, etc. The weather was very nice and windows/ doors were open for all to enjoy the evening. Soon it started to become warm and sticky; when we inquired, we were told that a couple with a baby sitting next to the windows complained that it was too drafty and had everything closed, causing the rest of the house to face the consequences. Why not just relocate the family?

We came here on Father's Day for dinner, mostly because we tried to go to Bahama Breeze and there was a big line out the door, so we came here because there was no line. In fact the parking lot was rather empty. The service was fine and the food was decent. But nothing I want to rave about. My sangria was a little too sweet and my kid's mac & cheese was just Kraft from the box - I get it's a kids meal, but at least make it yourself. The chips & queso we got was overpriced for what it was, $7 for a step up from ballpark nacho cheese. But I had the Roasted Artichoke & grilled chicken penne and that was pretty good. My kid didn't mind the Kraft mac & cheese and my husband said he liked his steak fajitas. I'll probably come here again, maybe I was just in a judgy mood. I generally like the food at Champp's but this visit wasn't my favorite.

Love this place! Everything about it. Amazing staff goes a long long way, and w great food to boot, can't beat it! Management is doing it right here.

Went here with some coworkers a few weeks ago. I got the Cuban sandwich, it was just okay. Wait service was good and we were out in an hour or so. I would try it again, though - I've had the Tuesday ribs special at their WB location and those with the waffle fries were great.

Acknowledge you're in a chain sports bar. Relax and enjoy. Nothing exciting on the menu, but the standards are there. Even a few bottles of wine on the menu.
(3)Rachel W.
I agree with Dennis S., acknowledge that you are at a sports bar that is trying to be a little nicer than a sports bar and don't expect world class cuisine. We go here often because they broadcast UFC pay-per-views for free. The portions are huge, definitely enough to split with someone. I've tried many different appetizers and entrees and all of them have been good, not great. We've always been greeted, most of the time they"re friendly and welcoming. The service is hit or miss, we've had great service to okay service. If you sign up for their e-mail list they send you a coupon for a free burger or appetizer.

Went in for last call and the bartender was very sweet. I didn't stay and eat, though I have in the past. Champps to me, is a compromise. You want to appease people that want a nicer meal than in a sports bar, but you want to be able to watch the game. I understand the concept, though I will say that as far as the food is concerned, it doesn't always plead it's own case well enough.
(3)Matt W.
They charge more because they have to pay for the extra P.
(2)Nate H.
Happy hour is best by far because with the large portions you can turn a half-price appetizer and cheap beer into a decent meal for under 10 bucks. TVs always have sports of all kinds on, but just once I'd like a sports bar with lots of TVs to have one or two showing Family Matters or Step-by-Step reruns. Man those shows were great!
(3)George C.
The watermelon margarita and blackberry long island is awesome!

For the price, you really can't ask for much more than what they give you. It's a supersized Fridays/Ruby Tuesdays/Applebee's type menu. The portions are out of control, but there's little to be found for those watching calories or looking for good, creative cuisine. It's bar food, folks, so don't expect more. I would never step foot here and try the entrees. It's a huge sports bar with tons of seating, $2 happy hour drafts (anything on the tap, including Sam, Guinness, Killians etc) and half price apps. The quesadilla is honestly the size of my torso; spinach and choke dip is probably frozen and reheated but decent, and the chicken satay (grilled, with a peanut and sweet soy on the side) comes with vegetables that are destroyed in some teriayki glaze. Plenty of sandwiches; a sub-par veggie burger; a few wraps - and actually the turkey club with avacado was decent for $10. It is a good place to watch a game though, some 20 tv's all over the place. They do trivia during Monday night football; name that tune on random nights (I haven't figured out the schedule) and serve fairly late for the Somerset area. All in all, if you just want to eat, don't care what it is, it's not terrible ... but it's a 2 star ... Meh.
(3)Rich K.
Poor Champps, why so many bad reviews? I have dined here so many times in the past, I have lost count. I wonder if Allison E. was reviewing a sports bar or a 5 star restaurant? Champps is a sports bar first, so if your expecting fine dining go somewhere else. This place is definetly a huge step up from a Fridays or Applebee's.

Their only redeeming quality was their bloody mary. It wasn't the greatest I've ever had, but it was better than anything else anyone in my party had that day. That being said, we showed up with a party of 8 at around 2pm on Sunday. The restaurant was sparsely populated, yet they decided to cram all of us into a tiny area, right next to the kitchen. There were open tables everywhere. From there, it took our waitress about 10 minutes to even show up at our table to take a drink order. No one brought water before that either. We ordered. The food took forever. Some of our dishes were incorrect, some were cold, the salad had almost no meat on it, my pot pie looked like soup from a can with a puff pastry on top. I was really disappointed with the level of service in this restaurant. I'm not sure how they stay in business in an area like Troy. I know none of my party will be back. We should have just gone to Red Robin.

It's your typical American fare. I don't think I could ever recommend anything when someone asks me what to get. It's one of those places where I always get something different because I wasn't satisfied the first time. The ONLY THING that I always get is their mile high ice cream pie. I could literally kill the whole thing by myself and they make the best one EVER.
(3)JOHN A.
We love this place and have been coming here for years. The food is great. We have had the ribs, Cobb salad, big pretzel, spud skins, deviled eggs, spinach salad and mile high ice cream pie. All were really good. The Cobb salad was the best I have ever had. The staff and management is also great.
(5)George T.
I went here with a group of people, and it was terrible. Almost everyone in the party had something wrong with their food. One steak was totally dry and not cooked as ordered, a club sandwich was brought out with cold, wet bread, the pulled pork was out (though this wasn't mentioned until everyone else's food was served), the soup and fries were cold, and the hamburger tasted like one you would find in a school cafeteria. The manager was kind and attentive enough to comp several items on the bill, but this place sucks and I won't be coming back.

Went here as part of a hockey team with a party of 40. They took our order quickly, got the food out quickly, and we were out of there quickly. It was amazing! Great food, very friendly courteous service. We will always come back here if we are in Troy, Michigan!
(5)Mary M.
Had a great meal, the burgers were fantastic and the service was second to none. We had a hostess (Colleen? ) who was super personable. Excellent place. We'll be back!
(5)Mike J.
Excited to give it a try, excited to leave. midday Saturday afternoon, watching football at the bar. Bartenders were more interested in talking amongst themselves than taking care of customers, a bit disappointed. Mile high Nachos were burnt. Chili was from a can and the cheese was processed, not a REAL cheese product. Garnishment came on the side as opposed to on the nachos. Disappointing visit.

Came here yesterday for a quick lunch and I'm not gonna lie I'm completely irritated with this place! It seems EVERY TIME I've come here over the last 6 months their menu has changed. I had the bbq chicken salad and was so disappointed in the size, flavor, presentation and lack of creativity. It used to be my favorite thing on the menu (after they took everything else off their menu) and yesterday it was just plain bad. It looked sloppy and was extremely spicy and the bbq sauce was just spilled on top, chicken was all filler and no tortilla chips. Disgusting. I was debating coming here or going to granite city and now I know for next time that this isn't the good ol champps I used to love. Sorry champps, I will NOT be back :(
(2)Paul A.
Back in the day, I'm talking years ago Champps used to be great. Now each time I go it keeps getting worse and and worse. The food is bland and not fresh. A little pricey to. The service is hit or miss. Drinks are also a little on the pricey side too. This place now is almost always empty. They better change something for the better or else it will end up like the other one (closed). I can't say I won't be back, cause I do love the mile high pie. I just will stick to getting desert and nothing else.

Interesting evolution on how we arrived here. Tried the Chammps on Hall Road a couple of years ago, but walked in just as the kitchen took an order for a 110 people funeral wake, so we took a rain check. Fast Forward to last Friday , pulled into Hall Road location CLOSED PERMANENTLY . Well after joining there MVP rewards & wanting a free burger, here we are in Troy Walked in at 5:45 on 2-28-14 & the place was actually jumping, one of the 3 hostesses sat us promptly. Our server Selena, arrived & I'm sure you all know when a server is going to be fantastic, well her vibe matched the service , great gal [ she has served here for 15 years ] We showed our rewards coupon out of the chute & told her we were splitting it to save room for the Mile High Ice Cream Pie And she totally understood that We asked what is the go to burger here? She HIGHLY recommended the Chipotle BBQ Burger pulled pork. cheddar. apple wood-smoked bacon. house-made chipotle mayo.lettuce. tomato. When the helper brought it out , Selena had the kitchen split the burger & fries in the back , into 2 plates & 2 fry baskets! SWEET! **If I were to deduct any points at all on this visit, it was the waffle fries cooled off or were cold way to quickly in that open mesh basket Holly S from YELP was right the mile-high ice cream dessert was flamboyant + she enlightened me about the MVP program. I'll enclose a picture of this dessert Our dinner & dessert was $11.65 Plus the receipt offered a survey for a free dessert on the next visit.

Well, it's a kinda gross sports bar--phenomenal television screens as the highlight means that you know the food is likely below the belt. The salads generic bagged iceberg lettuce, a pulled pork sandwich in an overly-sweet sauce on a bland packaged bun, rather dry chicken on a dinner salad. Good service and a nice atmosphere, but you're not comin' here for the food.

Manager was amazing. He kept coming around and checking on us. Service was great and food was awesome. Why isn't this place packed? It's great!!!

This is one of the nicest sports bars I have ever visited. My nephew had a Baptismal dinner booked at the Champps Americana on Hall Road. Well, that location and 22 others around the country was closed by the new owner. As it turned out, the restaurant had us change the location to the Big Beaver restaurant. It worked out in our favor. The party room was huge. I think there were around 80 of us there and still room for more. It would be great for any types of luncheons, dinners, showers, etc. The food was fantastic. I had the tastiest turkey burger I've ever had. The turkey wraps had mixed greens and avocado in them. The chicken tenders looked delicious. My nephew had fettuccine Alfredo and said it was great. Derrick was our server. He was transferred here with about 10 other servers from the Hall Road location. He was excellent and made sure everyone had anything they wanted or needed. The Cabernet was one of my favorites, Wood-bridge by Robert Mondavi. Coffee was fresh and delicious. Not a single complaint from anyone and there were a lot of us there. The Manager came to each table to make sure everyone had everything they needed and we told him what an excellent server Derrick was. I'd go back here anytime for any reason. Love the place. For the sports fans, they had huge TVs in the bar area. Great restaurant.!

I'm torn between a 3 and a 4 rating. My son loves the Carolina Burger here and when I let him choose, this is where he wants to go. Lately, I've become a bigger fan based on some new menu selections. The Ahi Peppered Tacos are VERY good, so is their guacamole. I've noticed some other dishes that i'd like to try as well, so won't be saying no to my son any time soon. However, service is a bit so-so. I went in with my sons recently and we sat in a back area where there was only one table. Michigan was playing in the NCAA tournament and I asked our server to turn it on. He said he didn't think he could because they had to leave the hockey game on (the other table wasn't watching anything). Finally, a Manager put it on for us. On another recent trip, I went alone to watch the U-M game and the bar was very busy. They only had one full-time bartender which just isn't enough. There was someone that appeared to be a Manager that would go back now and then, but service was slow and when I did get a drink, both times the server got it wrong. I'll likely go back again, but would like to see them step up service a bit.

Sat for 20 minutes without getting service at the bar. Walked out and won't go back. There were 4 people at the bar! Not good.

So, after the baptism we went to Champps Americana in Troy. Initially they had tried to go to the Champps on M-59, but it closed - boo hoo. Luckily had a reservation and Champps had called and rescheduled for the restaurant on 16 Mile Road or Big Beaver just west of Livernois. Parking is great and enough spots for everyone. This area also has tons of wonderful upper scale restaurants as did the area on M-59. So, me and my sister entered the restaurant along with my eldest son and his family and they sat us in a separate room with a wonderful fireplace. Lots of seats for the guests who will be arriving! Sat down and right away Derrick and Gayle came to our table and introduced themselves to us as our servers. Asked us if we wanted anything to drink - hello!!!! Yes, I love my Cabernet - please!!! I checked into YELP and Derrick saw me and I told him that me and my sister were Elite Yelpers. He looked at us and said if there is anything you need please just let me know. He then told us the story of how the Champps on M-59 closed. Apparently they were going through Chapter 11???? and someone bought them out, but could only open so many restaurants in Michigan and alas that one did not make the cut. But he was one of the few servers from that particular restauant that was transferred to the location in Troy. He was very thankful. So, every time my glass was empty either Gayle or Derrick came to my rescue! For lunch I had a turkey wrap with home made chips. Yum. Very delicious, if I may say so, and very plentiful with the meat and cheese. My sister had a turkey burger and waffle fries, all I heard from that side of the table was humming of greatness. Food was excellent, servers were great - there were no complaints from this YELPER and I will be going back!
(5)Jason M.
I got the starter salad and fish & chips. The salad was fine, actually slightly better than I anticipated from a sports bar in terms of presentation and content. The Fish and Chips. I have to say although I eat a fair amount, I could not finish 3 fish filets. The oil begins to come back up after a while. My feedback might be to reduce the number to 2 and use that savings to increase the quality. In terms of sports bars, this is really just a typical one.
(3)Kimberly D.
A-OK sports bar and restaurant. It's big inside and great for meeting a group of people. Service was friendly and quick. Food was good but nothing spectacular. Portions were good size. The fish and chips looked pretty tasty so I may have to order that next time. I had the rosemary chicken on a bed of spinach (trying to watch the carbs). Prices seem on par with what you will spend at a nicer sports bar. No complaints and would come back.
