This has been one of my favorite brunch spots for quite a while now, yet for some reason, I keep forgetting to write a review. Well, here goes.... One of the main attractions of this place is the decor. Complete with a roaring fire place, moose heads, elk heads, and even a few animals I may have struggled to identify, it has a nice, cozy, log cabin kinda feel to it. And the food is quite solid, too! Though I have yet to explore the dinner menu more, what I've had is descent, yet nothing special. Not bad though, either. Oeverall, pretty good. Prettyyyyyy, prettyyyyyy good! They have a great brunch menu on Sunday's and the chillaquillas are one of my favorite breakfasts anywhere. For those that love the mexican themed breakfast, this is a must try plate complete with everything that one would need to make the ultimate breakfast taco. Set on a golf course, there's a nice patio area you can eat on in the summer overlooking the course. Very relaxing, and recommended for warmer months. WARNING - the bloody marry's here are HORRIBLE! (and rarely do I ever say that about any bloody marry. It's more like a salad than a drink. Not my cup of tea).

Loved the atmosphere. I sat by the fireplace, and it was like I was in a cabin up north. The antler chandelers were awesome and the animal heads on the wall were kitchy. The food was good as well. I didn't partake in the buffalo meat experience though. The huge plate of warm cookies they bring to your table for dessert is fantastic too. I would definately recommend this place for a date...It's aura is perfect (unless you're a member of PETA).

After driving past this place many times, we finally tried it last week, and were pleasantly surprised. We got seated on the patio, overlooking the golf course, and it was very nice -- not too crowded or loud and the view was relaxing. The service was very good and the food better than expected. Portions were generous and prices very reasonable. I got the turkey dinner, which was probably the best I've ever had other than home-cooked; my husband got the 'Buffaloaf', which was Buffalo meatloaf, and he really liked it. Only one minor problem - it took a LONG time to get our food. It wasn't a real big issue since we weren't in a hurry, and our waitress was very nice about it and apologized several times, so that helped. We'll definitely be going back -- lots on the menu we'd like to try.

It's about the same price as going to Chili's or Outback or something like that but so much better. If you haven't been, you should try it or one of the sister establishments, they are all pretty good. PS - if you're so inclined, order cookies when you order your meal, they'll be ready when you're done and let's face it, fresh cookies are good to have. PPS- the parking lot always looks full but it may not be packed inside. it's an optical illusion or something

As you walk in, you feel like you're in a hunting lodge, with the warm log cabin woodwork and crackling fireplace, antler chandeliers decked out in holiday garland, and the stuffed heads of what you'll soon be eating adorning the walls. It looked promising, until our server came over, threw down some menus and while walking away, said, "Let me know when you're ready." No hello, no small talk, no personality. So we order, a couple of buffalo burgers, the buffaloaf sandwich and the sampler app consisting of venison sausage (one of the more palatable options), rabbit ravioli (deep fried to a hard crust exterior with bland minced meat filling), whitefish pate (spreadable fish? no thank you), buffalo balls (again, bland meat covered with an overly sweet BBQ sauce), and duck tenders (slivers of hard crusted gamey meat). Our conversation was peppered with snarky comments from our server, which we chalked up to a horrible sense of humor. Halfway through the dinner, we were served our complimentary cookies (which arrived warm at the table, but by the time I was ready for dessert, they were room temp. Overall, food was mediocre, service was uncomfortable, and the only saving grace was the actual atmosphere. One positive note, it's location next to a golf course makes it an easy place to stop for a cocktail post game. Just eat somewhere else later.

I have been to Camp Ticonderoga five or six times. It is nothing special. Food is OK, not bad, not great. I meet friends there because in the summer it is nice to eat outside with a pretty view overlooking the golf course. I have severe allergies to fish and shellfish and always speak to the manager about what I can eat without any chance of cross-contamination. We were always able to settle on something that would be totally safe for me to eat. I was there about ten days ago and spoke with the manager and she told me that the kitchen had fish in it and she could not be sure that any food served was not cross-contaminated with fish. I asked how something like a chicken burrito or a vegetarian salad could be cross-contaminated and she answered that she could not guarantee that anything that is served would not be cross-contaminated. I asked if the iced tea would be OK and she said yes, so I sat with my friends and sipped iced tea while they ate. Firstly, they should do a better job of being able to accommodate people with food allergies. This is the first restaurant I have ever frequented that could not accommodate me. So everyone with food allergies needs to stay away from this place. But more than that, if Camp Ticonderoga's kitchen is so sloppy, chaotic and disorganized that they cannot be sure that the ingredients of a salad: lettuce, dried cherries, blue cheese, etc. have not been cross-contaminated with something like fish, I would strongly recommend that everyone steer clear of this place. Other than the view of the golf course in summer, you will not be missing much.

Warm Lodge like atmosphere Way Better than average bar/grill type food with a light German bent. Good prices, excellent service. We are going back tomorrow.
(4)Jane T.
I was very impressed with my meal! It tasted great, presented great and the staff was super friendly with our big group. The name of the place may throw you off but don't be fooled it is NOT nasty camp food from your childhood!
(5)Cheryl C.
Good food but inconsistent service. Go on Sunday for free warm chocolate chip cookies. Don't bring vegans here! They serve road kill here! Just kidding!
(4)Gary K.
Great for lunch and dinner. We have been coming for years and never been disappointed. Comfortable, casual atmosphere. Rodeo melt is awesome.
(4)C R.
We love this place, though the quality of service can be spotty depending on the day/time. Overall it is one of our faves though. Very cozy and inviting, great food, reasonable prices, great outdoor seating on the golf course. The BBQ ribs are fabulous, as is the Traverse City burger. And you get free chocolate chip cookies! The food is priced very well and you get decent portions, good sides.

Camp Ticonderoga is a pretty good restaurant located right in front of a golf course. It's not affiliated with the golf course that I know of, but that makes no difference. They have a pleasant restaurant and really good food. I've been just on random nights, and I can say that the specials are definitely the way to go. On Monday night you can get prime rib for $10, and Wednesday all-you-can-eat fish for under $15. The prime rib is just great - it's made to order, not sitting under a red lamp, seasoned well, and just tastes awesome. I'd expect the fish to be crappy too, but that was just as good as any of the fish places I love nearer my hometown. There's something about fish and chips that no other kind of dinner can match. They have a full bar, and I'd suggest getting a martini here if you're the martini type. I've said before, I order mine with Smirnoff and dirty, and for some reason not a lot of places can get this right. CT does! If that's not your thing... then beer it is. They don't have a superb collection of beers, but it'll do. I only gave them four stars because besides the specials, it can sometimes get a bit pricey depending on what day it is. I've had the prime rib, and the price wavered with the days - the special was $10, but I've also paid almost $20 for it. It's a gamble coming to CT, but a worthy gamble none the less.
(4)Shawn F.
One of the best Patios in the suburbs. It's on a golf course. The food is very good and the drinks (especially the margaritas) are fabulous. Monday - Friday theyoffer free homemade chocolate chip cookies as dessert. YUM!!!
(5)Kristy O.
From the animal heads on the walls to the chandliers made from antlers whats not to love about this place? The food is great! They even have a dish called the road kill and it comes with a bumper sticker that says "I eat my road kill!" I like this place most in the winter time, with the fireplaces going and the great steak and wild game menu options its a cozy place to relax and have a good meal and a few drinks.
(4)Y V.
I love their prime rib monday special, $11.99 for prime rib & vegetables along with bread and fresh baked cookies. yum yum. I love going there at night, love the laid-back ambiance. Every time I've gone, I have not been disappointed. Waitresses are nice, the manager(i believe) walks around and talks to everyone or greets people (i like this, makes it very personable). Everytime I go, I usually take home some food because the portions are soooo much.
(5)Julie A.
Ok.. I was starving and wanted some red meat, and Camp Ticonderoga ( I will call CT for short) hit the spot. I almost went for the 'Venison brochette, wild boar sausage and semi-boneless broiled quail with Michigan game gravy. Served with fresh vegetables and an "I Eat My Road Kill" bumper sticker.' however the gravy is made with flour and I am Gluten intolerant, so I had an excellent Prime rib with lots of Horseradish. ok so you say then why only 3 stars? Place was not to busy and waitress forgot the lemonade for my cousins tea, then my food came and they forgot the horseradish sauce, mentioned right away to guy dropping off food.. 10 min later waitress comes by...my sauce please oh yes so I got it 15 min later, cause another customer stopped her..so my prime rib was a little colder than I'd like, but I just can not have it without my horseradish. I am picky therefore I yelp. Who knows I could revisit one day and up their status!

Camp Ticonderoga offers great atmosphere and good food. I used to come here all the time, before I moved away from Michigan. I used to love the numerous wild game dishes that they offered on the menu. My favorite was the "road kill grill", which was a mixed grilled platter containing oddities like boar sausage and emu. The last couple of times I visited MI and came to Camp Ticonderoga for dinner, I was sad to see the menu not look much different from that of a regular restaurant. The "road kill grill" is gone from the menu along with most of the dishes that made this place stand out. The only thing out of the ordinary for entrees are a couple dishes made with ground buffalo. There are a few wild game appetizers, but nothing much. We recently tried the "wild thang" sampler appetizer, which is venison sausage (tasted like Slim Jims), whitefish pate (decent), rabbit ravioli (had no taste), duck tenders (these were good), and buffalo meatballs (these were very good). The "wild thang" is pretty much the only adventurous item to choose here now. The entrees and appetizers I have tried the past couple of times were good, but nothing spectacular. The decor is still great here though. The place is set up like a hunting lodge (which is actually what it used to be). It has a very cozy feeling with the fireplace and woodsy furnishings. This is a perfect place to go out for drinks with friends or enjoy a good dinner with great surroundings. We also love checking out all the pictures posted of people's pets in the entry way. There was a time where I would have given this place 5 stars based on their unique menu and great surroundings. I am going to go with four stars though, because even though I find the menu a bit lacking now, the atmosphere is still great here.

This is going to be our new go-to brunch spot when in the area! Everything on the brunch menu is $7.99, an awesome value for the amount of food you get. My boyfriend and I each got omelettes, mine the "vegetarian" with spinach, mushroom, and swiss. It was great and huge! The best value-conscious thing about it was that it came with potatoes (roasted, tasty), fruit (fresh and stacked up so adorably), and a big blueberry muffin. I must confess that we both sprang the extra $1.99 each to get sides of bacon, which was totally worth it. I ended up taking home half my omelette, most of my potatoes, and my muffin. 2 meals for $8- awesome. Even the coffee was good, which I feel that is impressive for most restaurants. Then, surprise, FREE chocolate chip cookies! Warm, gooey, clearly just out of the oven... totally not necessary, but yum! Apparently they come free (one per person) all day on Sundays. They do have the whole menu available Sunday, not just brunch. They also appeared to have a really nice-looking banquet/ event space. Very cool interior and atmosphere, and in my opinion they skirted the line of tacky nature-laden and was simply inviting. We sat on the patio, which is covered so almost all the seats were not directly in sun. It was a beautiful day and we really enjoyed the golf course view. Our server was also excellent- very attentive. I'd recommend getting their earlier (open at 11 for brunch Sundays) if possible, it seemed to be pretty full when we left around 12:30. We will definitely be back!

3 star food in a 4 star atmosphere (camping lodge cabin theme) with 2 star service. Those chocolate chip cookies are 5 stars though. All in all, this is a 3 for me when steering clear of the menu items they really don't do well (BBQ here is terrible).
(3)Gary V.
Maybe we caught them on a bad day but my wife and I had a thoroughly joyless experience. The service was very inattentive, and the food was rather flavorless. We won't be back.
(2)Jim B.
My friend and I just had lunch there today March 7, they have a beach party theme going on... Fun and great specials on the menu for the weekend. Lettuce wraps were the best ever. Their service was outstanding, Brandy T. and Connor took care of our every need. They always have a fun theme - Beach Party on a winter day was really the unexpected...

I love so many things about Camp Ticonderoga. The buffaloaf melt and fish n mac entrees are absolutely delicious, the warm straight-from-the-oven chocolate chip cookies are gooey awesomeness, the decor in the restaurant is great (I especially love it around Christmas time), and the view of the golf course is gorgeous. I have been here quite a few times, and often book reservations for mother's day and father's day celebrations because they have a great brunch as well. However, that being said, the service is hit or miss. I've had great servers, so I won't take a star off for it, but I have definitely encountered some servers that acted like I was inconveniencing them by even showing up at the restaurant. For our most recent visit this past weekend, we had a server that was friendly....but she messed up several parts of our order. I was very impressed by the manager though - she came over right way, was very apologetic, took charges off of our bill, and sent over a free plate of cookies (or are they always free? Either way, they were appreciated.) Her attitude made us leave that evening on a positive note and we will still be happy to return again in the future.

I frequent this place several times a year and decided to finally write a review. Always have a great food, friendly staff, and excellent atmosphere. They have some unique wild game items on the menu, but also some traditional favorites. Prime rib on Friday and Saturday, and turkey dinner on Sunday. This is one of my local favorites. When the weather is nice, they have awesome outdoor seating overlooking the golf course. Note, you can rent out the upstairs for events and they do a fine job. I've attended and hosted several parties upstairs and i'm always pleased.
(5)Rachel F.
Food is good but not worth the crappy service. They seat you and then they don't care about you! Normally when we go out to dinner we are only there for about an hour. Whenever we come to Camp Ti, it seems like we are there for 2 hours. They take forever to get you your drink order and then take their time to take your actual food order. We still come here but only once a year maybe. Let's just say, based on the service, I won't suggest to come to Camp Ti.

Wanted to go here for my brothers birthday we had family in town from out of state that haven't been here in years. Ticonderoga would not accept our reservation of 11 people at 7:30 apparently they only take reservations till 6:30 and then after that it's just a s**t show until they can possibly find you a table. The individual I spoke to was named Tanya (might have spelt that wrong), and she was very unhelpful and a little rude when I asked what the reasoning for that policy is. Plus she never answered me, there website says they take reservations all night but that is simply not the case when you call. Instead we took our business to Filippa's Wine Barrel in Sterling Heights on the corner of M59(Hall Road) and Mound. Filippa's was more than accommodating and the service and food was top notch. Honestly it made Ticonderoga look like nothing special. I will defiantly be going back to Filippa's, and taking potential/existing clients here for events. (The wine selection is Amazing!!! And 1/2 of bottles on Friday's!!) Always spend your money at places that actually want your business! That's good business practices and Camp Ticonderoga is NOT one of those good businesses!!
(1)Michael K.
First off I DO like the food here. That's why I go there, or used to after last night. I lived in Troy for 15 years or so years past. Actually just 3 miles away from Sylvan Glen GC/Camp Ticonderoga. I currently reside in SH...13 miles/30 mins away from Camp Ticonderoga. So our family went for the 'every Monday 11.99 prime rib after 5pm' last night (first time for Monday PR). We arrived at 8pm. Sit down, order drinks. Then I'm told they're sold out of prime rib since 6pm. That's one hour. I was wondering why the promotion was still being displayed outside on the led screen if they're sold out. Then I was thinking of ordering a Filet Mignon, $24...then stopped, told everyone let's go somewhere else. Felt like the old bait and switch was trying to be pulled on me. Ended up at Red Lobster just driving north on Rochester (our bill was $150). There also is a Olive Garden, Chilis, as well as other chain restaurants going north on Rochester Rd toward Rochester Hills. CJMahoneys just b4 Auburn is good. Don't know why they didn't have prime rib. Manager was trying to talk some bullshit to me. I bet if we were caucasian, she might have offered a % off or free dish. But no, not for (h!nk5. Just know that they had prime rib for 1 hour. What a half assed promotion. I bet they could sell their remnant PR just telling the waiters an waitresses to mention that they have some to every table. Not have some bullshit $11.99 limited quantity promotion to 'get you in the door' and to free their leftover PR from the weekend b4. Don't get scammed!!! So I decided to never patron this establishment again. It's a business I understand. Why not call the Monday prime rib for 11.99 after 5pm what it really is, a remnant sale with some fresh product. How do you sell out in 1 hour? Remnant from the Fri/Sat prime rib, that's what I think. If you pull anything from my rant, you don't have to settle for anything. If you don't get what you were expecting, just leave. There are definitely other places to eat. You deserve better than to be bait and switched on. IT'S YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY$$$. SPEND IT WITH BUSINESSES WITH GOOD PRACTICES. 'Occupy' the restaurants. lOl 777 [My review contains speculative analysis for reasons why things turned out the way they did. Maybe I'm the only one, but not from what I hear.] In my opinion, Joe Paterno and Jerry Sandusky would love Camp Ticonderoga. Some key facts: #my aunt and uncle never had prime rib. I was so excited to see what they thought. #i called at 5:30pm, half hour in to make sure they were serving prime rib. (i have the recorded phone call). Never mentioned that they were running out, gonna run out, need to hurry, limited quantities. all I know I wasn't able to order prime rib. b.s. #what a disappointment, to sit 6 people and not even eat at the damned place. yes, I damned the place. sorry troy. #definitely NOT A STEAKHOUSE. Call and ask what steaks they offer. 1, filet mignon and weekend prime rib. hilarious. #not in the restaurant biz, but I would think Mondays would be slow. there's motive to 'get you in the door'. again, this is speculative BOTTOM LINE: Camp Ticonderoga had prime rib available for 1 hour on Monday, 11.21.11 before selling out (5pm - 6pm). EDIT 2.14.12 -- J Alexanders is in Somerset for Prime Rib

Dustin and I came here for dinner and even though the parking lot was full, we were seated right away. There is a lot more space inside then what you would expect. There are animal heads all over, which does make for a fun lodge feel. I had a dinner salad and the shepherds pie. The shepherds pie was very tasty, and not too salty. There was plenty to fill up on and still have enough for lunch the next day. Dustin had a burger, and I would think enjoyed it, since he ate the whole thing. I was trying to decide what I wanted for dessert - I mean eating all the dessert you can handle is one of the pluses of being pregnant - when the waitress brought over 4 warm chocolate gooey cookies, and a box so we could take two home. Home, HA! I ate all of them and may have growled at Dustin when he tried to take a bite! I think once the baby is born and we have guests visiting (lets be honest it was the only way I could get my family here from California), this is one of the spots that we will hit up for all the unusual comfort food.

We got: WILD THANG Appetizer Sampler $10- spicy venison sausage, rabbit ravioli, duck tenders- with pecan breading, sweet and sour sauce served on the side, whitefish pate and buffalo meatballs basted with Jack Daniel's Bar-B-Que sauce. The venison sausage was dry but flavorful... The ravioli & duck tenders were also a little dry and hard but still tasty. The pate was pretty delish, we put it on just about everything along with the sweet and sour sauce. DRUNKEN BUCK CHEESE DIP $7 Made with sharp Wisconsin cheddar, smoked venison sausage and Bass Ale. Served with corn tortilla chips and Bavarian bread. Could've used a different kind of bread..something harder, but it was a good dip :) RIBS & CHICKEN $19 One half-slab of baby back ribs and one half of a slow roasted chicken in Guinness Stout and broiled with our BBQ sauce. My bo and I both thought this dish could go either way, but as I had hoped the guinness & BBQ sauces melted into a sweet and salty glaze that wrapped the tender chicken perfectly.

My husband and I took his dad out for dinner here and had a great meal. I wasn't expecting it to be on a golf course, but honestly, that has nothing to do with the restaurant itself. The decor is awesome, like a creepy log cabin with crazy taxidermied animals all over the walls. It's super-huge, too, which I wasn't suspecting from the outside. The server was friendly, educated on the menu and quick to get drinks. She came back a couple times during our meal to make sure everything was okay. The busser also came around a couple time to get rid of empty plates without interrupting the dinner conversation a bit. The food was really good. Everyone in our party was happy with their meal. I LOVED the Cuban sandwich and Jacob tore his salmon dish up. The cookies at the end were a welcomed treat. I look forward to our next visit!
(4)Kelly R.
The food was good, the service was not. Our server never came back to refill our drinks, which happened to be empty nearly 2/3 of the meal. It was disappointing, because usually the service at Camp Ti is good. I don't think we will be back for a while.
(3)Rachel E.
I would have liked to give this place more stars -- the food was great and the interior/ambiance is really unique. However, I can not get over the terrible service and the unprofessional staff. I was using my phone to text my sister-in-law to see if she wanted to meet my husband and I for dinner at Camp Ticonderoga. The waiter came over and completely embarrassed me by saying, "excuse me, we have one rule here, if you use your cell phone you pick up the tab. We like to promote family time here and clearly by being on your phone you aren't abiding by this rule." Okay, I can dig it, I normally don't use my phone at dinner, but since (ironically) I was trying to cultivate family time at their establishment where I was about to spend money, I thought it would be okay to send out a short text message. Not to mention, I wasn't even aware of this rule. I thought this was a free country? The way he spoke to me was very condescending and rude, I thought. My husband thought so too. Well, I put my phone down and thought I would brush it off. Not a big deal. UNTIL I saw our SAME waiter walk over to a table that was 6 feet away from us, sit down (with whom I presumed to be his parents visiting him at work) AND USE HIS CELL PHONE FOR 10 MINUTES!!!!!!!!!! He wasn't texting, he wasn't calling someone, he was on his iPhone surfing the web! I wanted to take a picture because I thought no one would believe me. He just had the balls to come over, embarrass me in front of my husband and make me feel like I was lacking family values and then he goes over and sits on his phone?! Literally 2 minutes after he told me off? That seriously ticked me off. We might come back as long as we can avoid the hypocrite section... but I wouldn't hold your breath.

First off, loves the atmosphere the cool animals and decor were right up our alley. It was our first time there for lunch this afternoon, we decided to take my sister there for her birthday. I must say they are horribly lacking in service, from the moment we were greeted, it was not friendly. Next our server never introduced herself, she rushed us, even after we told her we were wanting to take our time and were in no rush. She brought out all our food in an extremely strange order, and we had hardly even gotten into our two appetizers, when our entrees came out. She was very short and rude. So now on the positive note, the food was for the most part good, we got the ducken buck cheese, wonderful, the sampler and the venison sausage awesome, the duck ravioli was great, I had their house salad and the dressing that comes with it was great! But I wish we weren't so rushed because I would have loved to be able to enjoy it. I had the Mac and fish the fish was battered perfectly not to greasy, but he Mac n Cheese seemed under whelming and very little flavor. My sister got the fried chickens which was great and very nice large portion, everyone else got burgers which seems quite well. We did meet one manager, Annette I believe was her name and she was extremely nice and seemed to take an sincere interest in our bit of an issue, she made the experience better, they actually switched our servers and he made a better impression with his friendliness and helpfulness. Over all I would love to be able to give this place a second try maybe at dinner, but service needs some real improvements, being a tiny bit more friendly and personable would be great!

Camp Ti has been a long time favorite. From the Mutt of the Month wall to the Road Kill Grill and the chocolate chip cookies, what's not to like? Well, on my two most recent visits it's been a) the food and b) the service. Tonight the service was terrible. Our server was friendly enough but she didn't seem to know much about the bar or the menu. It was nearly 10 minutes to get water and another 10 for our bar order. The quail and venison brochette in my Road Kill Grill were undercooked - and I prefer my meat rate. The (very, very) young man who brought our food reached across the table to set plates down dragging his arms across orders he's already placed. He served from across our table for no reason - it wasn't a booth. He handed me my entree because he hadn't yet cleared my salad plate. So here I am holding up my meal while he placed two others then cleared my salad. I hope they get it back together, because I've always been a fan, but two visits in a row have been disappointing.

I went here with a party of 9 for a birthday celebration. It was a beautiful day so we sat on their back patio for dinner overlooking the beautiful green golf course. The menu is substantial and the portions are large. The food was delicious and the staff was welcoming. In fact, 3 of 9 got sodas that all tasted a bit flat, when we alerted our server the manager came to our table shortly after and said they'd fixed the problem and would like to comp our sodas and also bright us a large plate of warm cookies! I highly recommend this steakhouse!
(4)Chuck S.
I am a regular and I would say The staff is friendly and very helpful. There is soo much good food to list. Prime Rib, lobster ravioli, ranchers salad, road kill grill, burritos, salmon sandwiches, chocolate chip cookies.
(5)Scott G.
I'd give Camp Ti a 3 in the winter and a 4 in the summer, mainly for the outdoor seating. It can be very hit or miss as far as ability to get a table. We go on average once a month (it's very family friendly) and maybe 1 out of 5 or 6 times will have a long wait for a table (mostly on weekends). My favorites are the perch salad (their best dish IMHO), the steak salad (which isn't always on the menu - but the mix of peppers and steak is very good), the lobster ravioli and the potato chip walleye. My kids like the nachos, which are huge and usually spit between two of them. The restaurant is accommodating at doing things like splitting the order on to two plates for us and service is always very good. There is a big screen TV in the dining area if you want to watch a game, a fireplace in the winter (which makes a nice, cozy dining area), and a bar with a few TVs. Most nights, the bar area is dead, and when there are people, it's usually locals (so hard to strike up a conversation with someone).

i've been wanting to go here for quite a while for prime rib. the night i went, there wasn't any. too bad. i found the decor to be really fun and kitschy. however, i found the applebee's environment to be less than. this is a place for families and it shows. its a little sticky everywhere and a little worn everywhere. the bar is too sparse and too beat up. too bad, because they have an awesome space that could be really warm and inviting. they also have the makings of really good food. the ribs were tasty. the fried clams were the best i have had i the area in a long time (not that many places sell clams). the sides were kinda gross though. overall i had a good time. i just wouldn't drive all the way out there for the same experience. if it were closer, i would. love, juston

Okay, let me say ... I was kind of shocked that my food was so good here. I hadn't been here in years, but we needed a place that could accommodate almost 20 people for a family birthday gathering. And this worked out really well for our purpose. I ordered the herb salmon and it was perfectly cooked and very tasty (my mom loved it too). The veggies on the side (broc, zucchini, beans & pea pods) were quite good. I heard from around the table that the seasoned fries were awesome and that the fried chicken was excellent. Chocolate chip cookies were a nice treat at the end of our meal. Food wise, this visit was a success. However, the service was mediocre - my coke was never refilled in 3.5 hrs, the waiter was nice but not super interested, the young girl delivering salads to the table just stood there repeatedly yelling "garden salad" over & over & over!!!, rather than politely asking who ordered a garden salad. With better service I may have bumped this up to 4 stars. This place had been off my list for along time. But I would go back especially for a larger group gathering.

Ive been here a few times in the past. Just OK, as stated in other reviews. This time...we never had the opportunity to eat, or even be seated. Early afternoon, the whole place is empty...but they said there would be a lengthy wait. Why? They were short staffed. The hostess mumbled her way through this explanation...had to ask her to repeat herself twice. Said to the rest of my party of 4, ok we'll wait at the bar I guess. Sike. No bartender. We waited 10 minutes and said sayonara. While we were walking out the door, got a sarcastic "have a nice day" from the hostess. Who has found her voice, suddenly. Talk to ya never, camp Ticonderoga.

This is not a day camp. Parents, please don't drop your child off and speed away. It has the feel of a woodsy lodge, with antler door handles and wood bench tables. I love the Dog Wall as you enter! You can add your dog too by giving them a photo to frame for only $2.00, and that money is donated to an animal charity. How great is that?! It is located on Sylvan Glen public golf course. As far as I can remember, back from the days that I lived in Troy, this has been the longest lasting restaurant at this location. We had a nice view of the course from our table. The food is very good and reasonably priced. My entire family got together and came for dinner. My sisters and I all had the fish fry (fish and chips). It's three large pieces of beer batter fried cod and thick cut fried (seasoned or plain) with a side of coleslaw. Great deal for just $11.99. My mom and brother each had a half slab of BBQ ribs ($15.99), which they both enjoyed. Our visiting friend from Oz had a buffalo burger ($9.99). Everyone enjoyed their food and free chocolate chip cookies at the end were a nice surprise, but I wouldn't call them amazing. Maybe it was just the batch of the day, but someone dumped a little too much salt in the batter. Still, a nice touch to finish your meal with a warm cookie. This is a place that is worth returning to. Can't wait to come when the fireplace can be put to use, then I'll really feel like I'm at a lodge in the Michigan wilderness, not suburban Troy. That'll make me feel like one happy camper!

My first of hopefully many visits.... This place is so cozy.. I love how there are literally hundreds of customer's personal dog photos hanging around.. Huge chandeliers with antlers, mounted deer heads and other animals alike..huge fireplace..cross the mammoth tusks to the dining section with the expansive views of the golf course.. For lunch I opted for the buffalo burger with sauteed onion and mushroom.. yummy!! I was expecting it to be somewhat gamey, but it wasn't at all...it was full of juicy flavor!!

This place is FANTASTIC!!! We love the Traverse City Chicken Burger...it's unbelievably delicious! We've been coming here for years and we've never been disappointed. The inside is such a great atmosphere....plus; you're treated to freshly baked cookies after your meal...and they're free! The brunch on Sunday's is simply wonderful. Great serving size and very reasonably priced. One side note: the service can be quite spotty at times, but please don't judge this place by one or two bad waitstaff!

Musky, but warm wood smell. Great for cold and rainy days (oh look, same as the day I went!). Comfortable atmosphere. AMAZING chocolate chip cookies free at the end of each meal. If anything I would just go for the cookies. But hey, the burgers aren't bad either. And the horseradish crusted salmon too, a little birdy told me.

I was honestly very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the service! Really nice waitstaff. I secretly love lodge-y themed restaurants because they make me feel like I am on some fun vacation in the Poconos or the Adirondacks or something. Everything was tasty, from the bavarian bread, to the crisp, plentiful portion of salad (for only $1.95!), to my main course - Buffaloaf (two thick slices of buffalo meatloaf with mushrooms, onions, gravy, and mashed potatoes). They had Bell's Oberon on tap, as well as bottles of Sam Adams and those ginormous cans of PBR, each for $2.00. It was too hot to sit outside, but it would have given us a good view of the "campgrounds." Not sure what people do here other than eat, but I think golfing might be involved. They also apparently have these warm, fresh-baked chocolate-chip cookies that they can bring to your table on a platter if you desire. Come to think of it, I don't know why we didn't do that. But I guess we were stuffed. Fun, affordable, and pretty good food!

I would give them 3.5 stars if the rating system allowed it. The food has been hit or miss for me. However I love their cabin atmosphere, so I am always glad to be there for dinner regardless of my meal. I just feel their food lacks something special for the price.

Yikes. I know. I'm giving this one star because I'm a sophisticated city person who was visiting from Los Angeles. We were at a catered event upstairs. Pasta- watery. They forgot to use a strainer? Chicken- covered in some coffee flavored sauce? Steamed vegetables- soaking wet Salad - well, it was ok. Water - tasted great. Hence, the single star.

They have a really weird setup for their gluten free menu. They have one, but they won't show it to you. The waitress literally has to carry it to your table, hold it on her pad, not let you see it and read you the options. I asked if she could hand it to me and she apologized, saying policy dictated she read it to me. Sometimes restaurants don't have an official menu and just say they can "accommodate all such-and-such dishes" but I asked and this was not the case. There is a menu, but they won't let you read it. The waitress was very pleasant and apologetic the whole time, so this was clearly the ruling of management. What? Hand me the frickin menu. Bizarre. The veggies arrived in butter (I asked for plain veggies as I am also dairy intolerant) so I couldn't eat them. Strike two. At that point I was tired of dealing with it, paid for my meal and left. I won't come back. Meat centric places are often gluten free and allergen friendly as long as they use clean equipment, but Ticonderoga clearly does not fit that description. That being said, the burger I ordered was cooked well and did not make me sick. 2 stars instead of 1 for the nice wait staff and tasty burger.

We go here after our golf league, and we usually have one or two standard servers. We've had good ones, and we've had really bad ones. But SOMEONE, either the servers or the kitchen, don't know how to get an order correct. I'm not kidding you, 50% of the time they screw up my hot wings order. How hard can be it? When you get your food right, it's pretty decent. I wouldn't go here for a real meal, but for bar food, it's alright. Some drink specials here and there, and the deck is nice in the summer. If I didn't play golf at this place, I wouldn't make a special trip to eat here, however.

As the other reviewers have mentioned, the best part about this place is the decor (as long as you're not a member of PETA). The burgers are delicious. This place is one of my go-to's for entertaining out-of-town guests. With the patio view of the golf course in the summer, you can expect the $2 23oz. PBR's to be flowing. (they generally have other drink specials as well if you can't handle PBR!) I've also been to their annual beach bash party that happens during the winter. It was a hoot! I highly recommend to those looking for a new and unique place in the Troy area. *Update: I have two new fave menu items: Big Louie Bread (basically cheese bread with garlic spread in the middle) and the Bleu Cheese Harvest Salad (w/extra bleu cheese)...both are to die for!

Damn good burger! I was at a golf outing and we were given five different choices for lunch to choose. Of course I had to try the burger. It was one of the best burgers I have eaten at a golf course. Half pound ground sirloin prepared perfectly medium with the works. It had some delicious seasoning with fresh lettuce, onions and pickles. After completing our golf round we met in the restaurant fora couple if domestics. Decent decor but maybe a little dated but it gave you the feel of an old camp we may have gone to when we were much younger. 'd come bac k to try the other menu entrees when in the area again.

Had the buffalo meat loaf very good with mashed potatoes inside sandwich. Appetizer of buffalo skins with chili also tasty. We also tried fish tacos very tasty Only negative was the service we were seated and they forgot about us. Had to go ask hostess for a waiter. That is why 3 Stars.

This was not my first time here, but the last time had to be 15+ years ago. When I asked my mom what she remembered from it, she just said "free cookies!" Unfortunately, the free cookies are Sunday through Thursdays, and went on a Friday for lunch :(. We sat out on the patio/golf course area, my coworker had wanted to try this place just for the patio - she said it was great, and indeed it was. It was a bit chilly out today, 60 degrees or so, but sunny, and I'd definitely recommend the patio. I got the Traverse City chicken burger, $9.99 and you get sweet potato fries with it - yum. I'm not a huge goat cheese fan so I got it on the side, but I did put a little bit on the burger. Also came with spicy cherry jam (yum! - hence the Traverse City name) and arugula. I was also eyeing the bbq beef or chicken sandwiches, but those were $9.99 plus another $1.50 or so for fries (the standard is chips) - a little strange considering the chicken burger was only $9.99. We also seemingly had two servers - one would serve us but the other kept coming back to ask if everything tasted good, etc. - and then the next one would ask us too. Maybe one was in training, or something? Not sure. I'd definitely come back here, it's only about a 10 minute drive for me and I could see it being very nice when the weather is warmer, too.

A friend and I went for lunch today. I had the buffalo burger for lunch with seasoned French fries. It was a great burger! I get it often. The spinach artichoke is also a go to appetizer. The waitstaff is always friendly. Old school margarita is my favorite when I don't have to go back to work after my visit. The golf course view is a perfect backdrop for any time with good weather. They also run a special on prime rib every Monday night for only $13.

I love this restaurant! Wonderful choices including venison and buffalo! This place is great for Hunters and everyone else. The decor is like a hunting cabin everything is made from wood. Service is excellent even if you have to wait a little it's worth it!!!

Food is terrible. Potato chips in a bag? That's gross. The toilet in the mens bathroom is loose for about 2 months. Place is very dirty. It looks like it was a good place a long time ago. The turn over of the staff is very fast . It is a very depressing place. The only good thing is the view of the golf course. They need a professional manager. It will be a good place for the tv show kitchen nightmare.

Went to dinner at Camp Ti last night. We had a great waitress - very friendly, nice and attentive. The place was busy with a lot of group parties, but our food came timely and everything was delicious. I recommend the spinach artichoke dip to start. I had the Cowboy Mac which was mac n cheese with a heaping of BBQ pulled pork - excellent. And I do believe Monday-Thursday they serve up a plate of free chocolate chip cookies for dessert - really good and warm. Love the views of the golf course while dining. Definitely a place to return to.

I gotta hand it to this place. My kinda eatery. Located practically on the golf course grounds, it is now a great restaurant open to the public. The inside feels like a woodsy, huntsmen style log cabin. Very large inside, a fireplace and a lot of dear heads on the walls. The chandeliers are even made with dear antlers! As you can imagine, most of the clientele is older local white folks. The waiter was very attentive and polite - only way he could have been better is if he was a purdy lookin she. My wife got the most delectable, baked to perfection Shepherd's Pie with plenty of ground beef, potatoes, cheese and all the veggies in it. So hearty, with the right spices - I think it would impress any drunken Irishman's pub palette. It came with a side of cornbread and coleslaw - and it's a huge portion. Enough to finish if you are starving, or save a snack portion for later otherwise. My "Rodeo Melt" burger was a real delight. A huge onion roll packed with the goodies. I am talking plenty of cheddar cheese, onion rings, horseradish sauce, and best of all a generous portion of shaved, succulent ribeye steak. There is only one thing better served shaved and succulent, and I can not mention it on Yelp. This place has the goods for a very fair price. Really mouth watering meals can be had for about $9-$14 on average. If you are into catching some hunter's game - there are also venison, buffalo, duck and other game meats like that - either in entree form or the less daring group appetizer form (so every can say they at least tried it!) Very good restaurant for meat-eating folks that want a hearty comfort meal in an up north cabin kind of ambiance.

If I were Elmer Fudd, I'd feel right at home with the décor of Camp Ticonderoga. It's your everyday, average hunting lodge complete with animal heads displayed on the wall and wood "cabinesque" walls. As a NON hunter, it didn't bother me- and the menu looked varied and had some interesting options. So let's give it a go, I thought. My friend ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich and I got the ground chicken sandwich with apples and goat cheese. The service was SLLLLLOOOOOOW and their food was... meh. Once you go "Slow's BBQ" or Lockharts it's hard to try someone else's substandard BBQ sammich. It was just a boring sandwich like my mom would make (no offense mom!) except it was HUGE. Plenty for 2-3 meals. It wasn't bad, just not the kind we like- shredded to oblivion with a bland BBQ sauce. And the chicken burger was the same. It reminded me of a similar chicken burger I had made at home with goat cheese and apple. Mine wasn't better, it's just that their's didn't have anything else to set it apart from just putting ingredients on a burger. Bland but edible. Their outdoor patio looked nice, and they have special events and dinners that sounded fun. But for the price, which isn't super cheap, there's just too much else around for me to make a repeat visit.
