When I have a bad experience at a restaurant, it invariably happens before I order my food (we get along fine with our servers and leave decent tips)...which is what happened in this case. We were there at the end of a lunch hour, so the restaurant was fairly empty. Hostess led us to a table right by the server station/kitchen door and I asked about being seated in a nearby booth--we were willing to wait for them to bus it--but the hostess gave me a glare and a real take-this-or-leave-this attitude...so much so, I would have left had I not been with my mom who would have been more upset if I'd done that. Within a few minutes, they'd bussed the booth and gave it to someone else who arrived after we did. So it wasn't a case of us wanting to sit in a closed section or overloading a server in another section. The food was all right, and our server was nice, but if I'm not treated right when I make a reasonable request about seating, then I won't be back.

I ate here on a lunch break on a Wednesday. I was craving the chicken tortilla soup and decided to check the online menu before heading in since I had to get back to work. I called ahead and the staff told me business was slow and getting in and out wouldn't be a problem so off I went. I got sat immediately. Clean, refreshing atmosphere. I let the waitress know I was ready to order immediately. The waitress moved very leisurely and I ended up asking another server to check on my soup. He was very courteous and came back with my soup along with my entree. The meal was delicious! I ordered the portobello mushroom and veggie sandwich served on cuban bread with a sauce on the side, similar to an italian dressing. The sandwich came with mushrooms, asparagus, zucchini, spinach, red and green peppers, and melted cheese. The soup was a very light broth, roasted pepper and corn, hearty portions of chicken, avocado, and onion with tortilla strips. Nothing lacking in taste. When the waitress finally caught eye of me (much later) and noticed I already had my food, she came over. I told her everything was delicious and needed a box and the bill. By the time I was finally able to cash out, I hurried off and mistakenly left the delicious portion of food I had remaining. I think their food is great and the lunch menu was moderately priced, but Bahama Breeze can really improve on getting people in and out for lunch. I won't return before dinner again.

Fire pit. Tropical cocktails. Coconut Shrimp. I've always come or met with groups of co-workers at Bahama Breeze. A small group would be 8-10 of us, there have been times when it was over 40. We would typically take over the entire patio and fire pit area. Great place for happy hour, appetizers and desert. Do not come here for date night!

I use to come to Bahama Breeze twice a month when I lived down the street. I loved the atmosphere, food and live music. When we arrived and sat to hear the sounds of live Caribbean music I was in heaven. Our waiter was really nice but didn't get the fact we had been there so much there was no need for suggestions, but he just kept suggesting. The crab claws use to be awesome but now they are slightly over cooked and tiny. The coconut shrimp and Mai Mai were great with the right amount of seasoning. I had a bahamarita (my favorite) and my husband had the Aruba Red beer (his favorite). If we hadn't ordered the crab claws I would have definitely given Bahama Breeze a 5 star. Oh yeah after our waiter noticed we didn't eat them he told us they now use a different crab and it's just not that good. Well that's one suggestion he should have told us before!

There was a large party next to us so we were second string, but the five of us dropped over $100 that hurt. We enjoyed the vast menu.

So good! It is perfect for big parties and everything from the drinks to the food to the service was great.

Not special, but ok. I had a very nice tilapia, well presented, good size, and not overcooked. For a chain restaurant, they do a decent job.

I've been here 2x. It's a bit of a mixed review. I went on a lunch during the week. My experience was great! The server I had was very pleasant and attentive. My 2nd experience, I am typing as I sit in the restaurant now. The waitress was slow to say the least. I ordered the carribean jerk chicken and she didn't offer at minimum freshly shredded parmesan for my pasta. I ordered this last time and it really upped my pasta. Drink refills were slow also as I would be chewing on ice waiting for her to make her rounds. But then again, the restaurant was quite busy this weekend. It was ridiculously stuffy in the restaurant also, as I type this I'm sweating. I'm not sure if the GM was trying to cut costs since its the transition between winter/spring in MI. The waitress is even taking about 20min to ring up our bill. I often seen the wait staff standing around and not being attentive to what customers are here. Some are very good. Overall I'm not sure if I will be dining here again. I may give them another chance a few months from now. Hopefully service and temperature control of the restaurant improves.

The patio with the tropical music. The island decor. The wait staff in their hawaiian shirts. All while the freezing rain was hammering down outside? Really made me feel as though I had escaped to some sort of food paradise... until the food came. It's not that the food was horrendous, it was just unremarkable and totally forgettable. For dinner, we started off with some chorizo sliders and coconut shrimp. The sliders were odd in that the chorizo tasted more like a meat loaf, just very salty and uncharacteristic of what it should have been. The coconut shrimp was decent but pretty standard rate with a sauce that was overwhelmingly sweet. For the main dish, I decided to be ambitious and try a new item on the menu, the island curry, which ended up being a lot less exciting than it sounds. The curry was pretty bland with too many coconut and almond flakes inside, giving it the texture of a pastry. The shrimp inside seemed like a last minute addition as it tasted like mini cocktail shrimps thrown into a curry dip. On the other hand, my friends did get sandwiches and fish tacos that seemed more appetizing. I'd probably give it the benefit of the doubt and try it again, but as many of the reviews here have stated: pretty average experience. Nice decor though and 'A' for effort.

Was a bummer we couldn't sit in the screened in rooms due to the hot weather. And the food was great, had the coconut shrimp (server made me a generous serving of cocktail sauce) and paired it with a house salad. The dressing on the house salad is yummy, very light and tangy! To too that off I had the dolce de Leche cheesecake and to be honest the best restaurant cheesecake I've had ( other than Cheesecake Factory) thanks! I will be back :)

I've been wanting to try this place forever. The place looks amazing on the outside, but once you walk in, it only gets better. It was awesome, it seriously made me forget I was still in Michigan. It was a nice little escape. We sat in the fully-enclosed heated patio next to the firepit, it was so cozy andbeautiful. The service was great, a little slow, but our waitress had a wedding party to tend to, so I completely understand. The chicken empanadas we delicious, pretty small but not too overpriced. We were boring and just got burgers. The cheeseburger sliders were so good, I know it's hard to mess up a burger, but they were perfect. The bacon and cheddar burger was cooked perfectly as it was ordered. We shared the chocolate island dessert. OH MY GOD, so so delicious. Great food for an average price. Definitely my new favorite place. I wish I had ordered something a little bit more exciting, but even for just grabbing a burger, this is definitely the place I'd choose.

Eh. On the way out to a favorite eating spot, my friend saw a billboard for this place and it piqued his interest so we figured we'd try something new. It was just corny and not all that interesting. The food was decent but a little overpriced...the jerk shrimp appetizer was good, my tropical fruit/grilled chicken salad was good, my friend's burger was big but bland. They didn't even bring out any condiments for him besides a small serving of ketchup. Kind of weird. They have a special beer on tap, some type of Red, it was pretty good actually. I don't think we'll be back though. Something about it was just weird. Like of all the cool places I will want to check out in the future, there'd be no reason to choose to come here instead. I suppose it's okay for boring people who see the world through a smaller scope, but that's not me.

OMG! So many bad reviews. I was there 3-4 times and each time I really enjoyed it. That means that food was good, drinks were good, service was good and prices were reasonable. I had pasta and their portions are pretty big. For drink it is always freshly squeezed lemonade with cane sugar. It's awesome. Service was fast and good. With smile. And yes, I would go back to Bahama Breeze.

This is one of Troy's best kept secrets. Had the happy hour, everything was very good and fresh. Only restaurant I've seen in Michigan that serves Shrimp and Grits(though I'm sure it's more)

One half of the third star is a bit of a gift. The coconut shrimp is tasty. It's been a while since I've been there, but I remember that the chocolate pineapple upside-down cake was pretty good. And the Bahamarita is decent if you're looking for a foo-foo island-like frozen drink. The End... that's about where it stops. Nothing especially impressive otherwise.

  • Kris C.

I have never had a bad experience here but I can see how some people who be turned off by the faux-tropical environment. It's just a bit corny and is trying way to hard to fit a theme. It screams chain! That said...the Chocolate Pineapple Upside-Down Cake I had for dessert was FANTASTIC! I've been craving it since but just can't find anyone to go indulge with me. I want a mojito and that dessert. Who is with me?

I still stand by my first rating. I love this place. They use to send out coupons but I don't see those any more. But I still enjoy visiting here. Sitting by the fire bowl in the evening on a cool spring/fall/summer night is highly romantic! The servers never ever rush us and I appreciate that!

If you have never been to Bahama Breeze, or the Bahamas, the decor is entertaining, and an adequate representation of a Caribbean island motif. I remember going to Bahama Breeze 3-4 years ago, and being excited about ordering conch fritters, just like we had on our honeymoon cruise; they were greasy, and the conch was probably frozen, not fresh, but it was better than I would have expected, 1200 miles away from Nassau. That menu is long ago, and probably far away. Today's menu has much less to do with the islands, and more to do with conformity, I suppose. There are at least six burgers on the menu, random salads, and more in common with an Applebee's than an island cafe. There is a fresh catch menu, as a slight bonus. The service on our latest (and last) trip was far below adequate. The knucklehead taking our order jumped to the next table as soon as he was done, and left the menus at the table. We had to ask for them to be removed. After the appetizer was delivered, we asked to place our drink order, since the "waiter" forgot to ask after our initial request for water. Sadly, our water glasses were ignored for the rest of our meal. In fact, I only saw one other waitress with a water pitcher the entire time. Those who drank sodas at the table had to ask for refills. We had a birthday at our table, and a simple sundae was provided, but there was no offer for additional desserts, we had to ask for those as well. The last time I wanted a dessert, and was not offered one, at Cheeseburger in Paradise, I went up to the manager to place our order, but sadly, we did not see anyone acting in that capacity here. As far as our food orders went, the fresh catch menu was probably the smart choice, I ordered mahi-mahi grilled, with a mandarin orange preparation. I'm sure the menu described a more complicated treatment than adding some small orange segments to the fish, but it was adequate, and the portion of fish was larger than I expected. The rice had a bland cardboard taste, like when it comes out of the Uncle Ben's box. The "chef's accompaniment" to the protein and starch was - plain green beans, with absolutely zero additional preparation. They came out of the steamer about two minutes early; fortunately I like my veggies crunchy. There was nothing on my plate that I could not create at home, which is a sad thing to say about an 18 dollar entrée. The lemongrass tiger shrimp entree from the fresh catch menu was excellent, and savory. The cinnamon mashed sweet potatoes were perfect. The additional desserts were tasty, and quite rich. An underwhelming menu, uninspired food, and inadequate service summarizes this trip.

Good food nice place loved the atmosphere the lemonade I orderd was great! the only thing that botherd me was the waitress she seemed like she was in a hurry to leave and was not very attentive. Other than that this is a great place to go!!

The service and food were poor at best. I came in around 3:00 and the place was dead, so I'm not sure why the service was so slow. I had the fish tacos, which had zero flavor. Clearly this place thinks replacing the meat of a taco with fish makes it a fish taco. The result is very disappointing. Honestly the only reason I'm giving them two stars instead of one was the Seafood Chowder, which was actually halfway decent.

I've had two meals here. The first was decent Whitefish, nothing special. It seemed pricey for the quality. You would expect the same taste at a Big Boy. The second was a salmon pasta dish, which made me violently ill. The only time I have experienced food poisoning quite like this was in Mexico where I was knocked over by a bad club sandwich. That being said, I feel safer eating in 95% of the restaurants in tourist destinations in Mexico than I do dining at Bahama Breeze in Troy, MI. Enough said..

    (1)
  • Bruce W.

Its OK - I found the food to me medium quality and the noise level to be a bit much. I think this is just fine for a quick dinner but prefer a restaurant that provides a more relaxing atmosphere.

Went to dinner with a friend on a relatively busy Friday night, but were seated right away. The waitress was friendly, but seemed like she was rushing through the entire meal. She stopped by the table 4 times in the space of 5 minutes to ask if we were ready to order. Once we placed the order, the appetizers arrived promptly. Unfortunately we had barely started eating the appetizer before the main course was put on the table and the waitress started talking about take-out boxes. We were still chatting and eating when she started clearing plates and asking again about take-out containers. The food in this place is actually pretty good. I love their goat cheese in peppers and the fish tacos. The prices are very reasonable and the cocktails are good. However, there is very little that annoys me more than feeling like the staff's only goal is to get me out of the restaurant as quickly as possible.

Just returned from a quick trip to Big Beaver area and stopped in. We had a GREAT meal. The two of us shared three appetizers (seafood stack, meat pies and goat cheese). Each one was unusual, artfully presented, interestingly spiced, and just plain delicious. The clam chowder (with shrimp floating on top) was interesting and tasty. The "breeze salad" had unusually sliced cucumbers and a very tasty dressing. Since we were celebrating some good news, we shared the Chocolate Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. Oh my! The chocolate was a nice twist and the sauce added just the right extra flavor. The cake was light and the whole dish was very nice. We'd drive the 85 miles to go back. Service was friendly and efficient. Overall a great, fun and delicious experience. And for a corporate chain. . .we were very impressed.

Nothing I put in my mouth here tasted good. Even the diet coke was wrong. They brought me regular. That's some spectacular screwing up. Highlight: Q: "What's in the Breeze Salad?" A: "Well, it's a Breeze Salad." Hello Abbot? I'd like you to meet Costello. No, no, he's not who's on first. Listen: It's not like I'm asking what's in a Cesear salad. What the fuck is IN your ga-damn Breeze Salad? Turns out it's old wilty lettuce with brown spots, and REALLY terrible dressing. And, inexplicably, pumpkin seeds...which are decidedly not breezy. Gummy rice and beans. "Wet" Sysco chicken product. Yuck. It was downmarket yuck. YUCK.

Incredibly average restaurant with sub par food and gimmicky décor. Thankfully I haven't eaten here in sometime as it was before my "awakening", as I like to call it, when I realized that 90% of chain restaurants are garbage.

    (2)
  • Don M.

What a joke. Everything I've had here was overcooked. The rice in my dish must have been ordered from Taco Bell because is was drier then Hillary Clinton. The bad part is that the place was PACKED and the rest of my table thought the food was great. I came to the conclusion that Bahama Breeze is an over priced chain restaurant and my friends need to stop eating at chain restaurants. The worst part about it was that one of my companies clients had a Christmas party here just a few weeks later. I couldn't get out of it.

This restaurant was a big disappointment. We ordered the hummus appetizer which came with 4 cracker like chips and about 10 wilted carrots and celery sticks. When I picked up a carrot it drooped over like a wilted leaf...weird right? So when I demonstrated this to the waitress she said "yeah , I noticed they are all like that." hmm? And you still decided to serve them I wondered. So next came the grilled chicken sandwich..the chicken was okay, but it was so immense that it kept slipping off the soggy bun. So I ate my chicken sandwich with a knife and fork. I think they are well known for their drinks cuz you'd have to be a little loopy first before you might enjoy your meal here.

Bahama Breeze was okay. Nothing special. Our waitress was kind of awkward and slightly forgetful (although she did apologize for it). I got a Caesar salad which was fine, and then I got the Cuban Sandwich. The sandwich was so-so. Not bad, not great. I also had an iced tea which was, again, very mediocre. The place was pretty darkly lit for a dinner time crowd. There were some screaming kids around, and you can't really escape it because they put you in one huge room that seems to amplify sounds. So it wasn't a bad experience, but I'm not itching to return.

I liked the vibe of this restaurant and its theme. Their alcoholic beverages are very good. I suggest you try the mango jalapeño mojito and their chicken jerk pasta. The waitresses are very nice. There are huge portions but also the option for a lighter portion which is a good thing My only complaint is that the chicken jerk pasta had asparagus in it that was all stem-like. They did not use the top parts of the asparagus, but the bottom, hard-to-chew parts.

I'd been here before...several times...but not since I've been Yelping. We chose BB due to location, as it was central to all. Gotta say...we had some good eats.. Everyone was pretty pleased with their dishes. I had the Mahi & Shrimp with Lemongrass Sauce Rice Bowl, and it tasted really good...I somehow thought it would be creamier because of the described zesty coconut lemongrass sauce but I still rather enjoyed my dinner. The caloric values beside each and every item on the menu had this gaggle of girls wondering, WHY would you do this to your patrons??? Ugh...it's all we could focus on for the first 20 minutes while we waited for everyone to show up, and get drinks ordered and served... "yes..I'll have the 880 calories, with the 180 caloried cocktail please.... I mean, I guess if you're Jared (Subway Jared) and you are coming to BB everyday, and want to lose weight, and need to know this information...fine....but for our girls gathering, it's not necessary....I mean, I'm still thinking about my 880 calories from last night!! Ugh!! They were pretty busy for a Tuesday, and the service was good...our server was extra animated, so we had something to snicker about in between visits...everyone was very friendly. One thing BB should pay attention to is their bar area. It reaked....like a bottle return room at a grocery store...gross! Ick...clean it up! I'd go back though :-)

Cocktails are sweet and flavorful, chicken has lots of flavor, you can get full size or light sized portions, every entree on the menu has a calorie count next to it.

The food is decent but the place looks like it needs a bath. There were smears all over the elevator to the bathroom ..... needs some cleaning. The décor has a nice Caribbean theme and I am sure cocktail hour is nice.

    (3)
  • Erin S.

Lacks authenticity and doesn't actually have seasonal daily specials. The fish is probably from frozen and mine was overcooked. Throwing mango salsa on something doesn't make it Caribbean.

Fish tacos were just OK. Chicken tortilla soup was slightly bland. Quite disappointed to not see perch or walleye on the fresh fish options.

I've been here twice with my boyfriend and the food wasn't very good both times it was really just the chicken we both had entrees with chicken and we don't know if it's the texture of the chicken or taste but it didn't get better! But our waitress was amazing we loved her she was some type of Spanish and she was great!

There are few times in life where I've felt like I was walking among clouds, and Bahama Breeze is one of those times. Great food, great service, the manager was an all-around awesome guy, and the tropical drinks were spot on. Can't go wrong with those Coconut Shrimp Tacos!

First restaurant I tried in Detroit. Overall I'd say it's decent. I had Jamaican wings with fries. Both were decent, nothing great though. The atmosphere is really cool and it seems that they have a really good collection of drinks.

Went here for Happy hour to give it a try. Ordered the tacos in all varieties, spinach dip and chips and onion rings. The chips and dip were the best thing we had. The firecracker shrimp taco had some weird jelly on it.The onion rings had some weird marmalade dipping sauce. Service was not great either. Won't be back

Went here to celebrate my husband's birthday. The food was really good, but it seemed maybe a little overpriced for certain things. And the service was just okay. If you're patient then the food is worth it to try eating here at least once.

The appetizers are great, I recommend the island hopper sampler. The Cuban sandwich isn't very good, but the lobster and shrimp quesadillas are good. Staff are friendly and do a great job.

Happy hour is really nice, as is the screened in patio. Food is completely overrated for everything else. If you like cocktail sauce ask the server to make you some, they will. Last time they didn't so I wrote corporate, they sent me $25 gift card for inconvenience. Part of a much larger corporate conglomerate. Staff is also friendly in my experiance.

I liked their happy hours with price-reduced appetizers. The indoor atmosphere is very nice. Totally enjoyed my multiple visits.

Service was pretty decent here...I didn't catch our server's name but he was soft spoken and polite. We had only stopped in to use a gift card and grab a quick bite, but the food here was a little BOOO. We ordered chips and salsa to start...a small plate arrived with no more than a dozen bi-color tortilla chips and a small bowl of pico de gallo. It was fresh "salsa" but come on...how skimpy can you be with tortilla chips. For the entrees I had the Mahi fish tacos and my special lady had the Tostones with Chicken. To be fair my tacos tasted pretty good but they had a small piece of fish, a ton of lettuce and the guacamole was brown which took away from the presentation. The Tostones were pretty good but nothing to bring me back...tasty but heavy fried for plantains. I remember when Bahama Breeze was new on the scene...the food was a little better whereas now it seems very chain restaurant-ish. I'm being generous with 3 stars here but I'd maybe recommend it to people looking for a happy hour spot close to their office.

I forgot this place was still around until my cousin suggested it. We met here for lunch and I remembered why I liked it so much. The ambiance obviously. Chill Caribbean music, friendly staff, and good food. I chose the Fish Tacos with a side of Beans and Rice. Yummmmm..I ate all 3 tacos and emptied that bowl of rice. The waiter was pretty friendly and there were a lot of parties going on at the same time. They seem to accommodate large groups quite easily. Yep, I'll be back here again.

Came here a couple days ago with a large group for a birthday party. I haven't had bahama breeze in ages and I was totally stoked to go! The coconut shrimp was better than I remembered! What's better than juicy shrimp coated in coconut and perfectly fried? Anyways, I shared that along with a chicken dish that I forgot the name of but it had some type of cilantro sauce I think- that was really good too :) The dessert which was some chocolate cake was delicious as well. Only weird thing was our waiter. He kept making woman jokes and gay jokes and was really arrogant. When you don't know the people or when you're at work it's pretty inappropriate no matter how "cool" you think you are to talk like that. The group I went with was pretty conservative and didn't appreciate it lol. Also a light kept flickering on and off on top of us and it was annoying and he said he couldn't change it after we asked. Other than that, pretty good food and price appropriately.

Really, only 2.5 star average for Bahama Breeze? I've been to this location twice - used to go to Livonia but recently moved to this side of town. The first time was with coworkers and the service was a little slow, but meal was delicious. I got the wood-grilled chicken sandwich with mashed sweet potato and it came with a plantain chip too. The second time was today, for a tasting of sorts, and we got to try all different appetizers plus their new drinks. The Painkiller drink is awesome and doesn't even taste like it has alcohol in it, but definitely packs a punch. My favorite of the appetizers were the Jamaican chicken wings, which have a kick to the mall but aren't too spicy, the onion rings, and the beef empanadas, although I have had the chicken empanadas before and liked them a little bit better. I've also had their chips and salsa before and even though I'm not a big salsa fan, I love how fresh it tasted. I would come back to this Bahama Breeze again and maybe try the Bahamarita drink and some of the appetizers during their happy hour, they're half-off then and drinks are reduced too. They also have a new late night happy hour from 9pm to close, Sun-Thurs only though.

This was my first time coming here for my birthday and it was a nice place for my date. I personally love dimmed lighting and that's what I got. It was a little on the loud side which was fine. Our waitress was super nice and friendly, always checked on us and refilled our drinks promptly. Food was great and very flavorful! Came to the table quick even thou it was crowded and busy. Prices are fair and reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place and will be going much more often.

Probably will not going back. The waitstaff is awesome., very attentaive and remembers our drinks orders from previous vists. Food is pretty good. The reason I will not be returning is because of the horrid, aweful stench that smacks you in the face when you walk in. Its strongest in the waiting area but is starting to permenate throught out the rest of the restruant. They have placed a fabreeze car freshener on the heater by the front door but it isnt helping. If you you are going to eat here hold your breath and run to the back of the resturant.

My Brazilian girlfriend and I decided to try out Bahama Breeze following a harrowing 3-0 loss to the Dutch in the World Cup, and drink our sorrows away. We walked in around 6:30 pm and were promptly seating in the "outdoor" section which is essentially an enclosed patio. We each ordered our mixed drink of choice and sunk into our seats as a musician played some chill-out Jamaican beats. For the next ten minutes, I think we lived out the ideal Bahama Breeze commercial, sipping Strawberry Daquiris and mellowing out to "The Girl from Ipanema" as a soft breeze carried the scent of exotic dishes about the patio. That was enough to make us extremely hungry so we ordered the shrimp & crab quesadilla. Unfortunately, we were so voracious that I was chewing on the last piece as I realized we had consumed a chicken quesadilla. We informed the waitress, who apologized, and offered to bring the right one, with no real indication of whether it would be on the house or not. Frankly, I didn't really care at that point and simply lived with the mistake. However, I was miffed as the portions were barely enough for two people, especially when that exact sentiment is paraphrased on the menu. Awesome atmosphere in the summer. Good for a drink or two, but probably overpriced for a full meal.

Just visited this place last night. This place was a great choice. The food was good, atmosphere was busy great for laughing, talking, people watching. By far the best part of the experience was the ultimate pineapple drink that comes in a pineapple! It was magical, I would come back just for that alone. Parking was good. No long lines. Standard dine in wait about 5 mins. Wait staff was friendly, but again go get the ultimate pineapple drink!

Used to come here a lot when they first opened up years ago. Haven't been here in a few years. Went over the weekend, and I had the fried chicken and my husband had the coconut shrimp. It was very good, the spinach dip appetizer we had was good too. Our waiter was nice, and attentive. Probably go back more often after this visit.

We've driven past this place many times during the past couple years but never tried it until today. We were glad we did, as we got good food, the prices were reasonable, and the service was good. Our waitress was friendly, helpful and attentive, even though she was handling quite a few other tables. My husband ordered the Shrimp Tacos and I got the Key West Fish Tacos, and both were good, with decent-sized portions. Mine came with a side, so I tried the Chicken Tortilla soup, which was excellent--I would definitely order it again. The decor is fun as well, especially in this deep freeze of a winter in Michigan. It's got a Caribbean/tropical feel, and the booths are spacious and comfortable. The only reason I didn't give Bahama Breeze 5 stars is that we had a bit of a longish wait to be seated, even though we got there early and most of the booths were empty at that point. They told us (and apparently the few others waiting) that they had to 'clean out some booths' before we could be seated. Hmmm. Anyway, in spite of that, we'd still go back; there were a lot of interesting things on the menu that we'd like to try, including the Fresh Fish choices.

The service at this location is pretty consistent as well as the food, I must admit I mostly order the same on each visit cobb salad and the wings my fav! I rarely have a long wait to be seated and if there is any issues with my meal the staff always cheerfully corrects it. I will say that the Tampa Island grill is so amazingly beautiful its a must visit if you are ever in Tampa. But until I get back there this is my go to spot especially during Rumtober!!

Went here on a Saturday night, sort of a last minute decision. At 630 I called to make a reservation or ask about a wait, I was put on the call ahead seating list and was seated promptly upon arrival. Although the restaurant was busy and my servers section was full, he greeted my friend and I within minutes. He answered all of our questions, helped us decide on drinks, and served them shortly thereafter. My margarita was gross and hardly tasted like a margarita and later, my Long Island wasn't much better. However, the food made up for what the drinks were lacking. The Carribean jerk chicken pasta was great! All in all, wonderful service, good food, but awful mixed drinks.

Several dishes are spectacular. For example the lobster and shrimp linguini is amazing! Coconut shrimp and Seafood Paella are nice too. I am quite a fan of several of their seafood dishes - they are very good. And conversely I see people choosing some of what they consider 'safer' dishes come out disappointed. Live on the edge and try something new, several of their 'exotic' and seafood dishes are quite nice. Moral: try something new - you really might like it!

Had a team dinner here last night and I can't really complain too much. There were a few drawbacks, none of which were the food but more about the fact their beer selection was that of a rookie establishment. I get the fact it's a 'tropical' style place but man it's a heartbreaker when there's literally only one good beer on draft. The decor is actually pretty cool and does make you feel like you've transported to a resort a little bit. And I can't help but mention that this place is seemingly very popular. It was pretty darn packed. The grilled shrimp app was my favorite but for those with no need for diet there were other delicious looking things to be had as well. Huge onion rings and coconut shrimp to name a few. I ordered the grilled chicken salad and it was just fine.

We had date night last Sat for dinner. They push their cocktail menu quite a bit. My husband had the paella and i had the Mahi and shrimp with lemongrass rice. I also had a strawberry mojito which was good. They use fresh fruits and mint in it. The food was good especially mine. Mutt hubby preferred mine over his paella which was bland. Service was good. Place can be noisy. Ambiance is tropical. Will go back because they have a good menu. Mostly fish but they have burgers too and chicken and carnitas.

The service is great and the food selection follows suit. I love the Yucca fries with Truffle oil and I love their seafood menus. I recently had the Calypso Shrimp Linguini and it was absolutely superb!

The Cobb salad was a winner. The spinach dip appetizer was so-so. The service was very good. I'd go back.

My friends and I enjoyed the atmosphere very much. It did feel like we were in the Bahamas even though it's Michigan. I enjoyed my drinks and desserts. I didn't care too much for the conch fritter appetizer. There was too much batter on it and I couldn't taste the conch at all. Probably will not order that again.

I went once with my colleagues last year. Well, I am vegetarian -no fish, no chicken. I ordered the fresh vegetable quesadilla. To be honest, that dish wasn't tasty at all. The veggies were greasy and lacked of seasoning while the tortilla was chewy. Being born in a tropical region and used to make it from scratch, the quesadilla here in this place is a no-no. Between Bahama Breeze and Bigalora (Biga Pizza) I prefer the last one.

I have to say that in years of travel, this was one of the best chain restaurant experiences I've ever had. It was our first time visiting, and we don't live in the area so it was on a whim we stopped. Even at 10pm the staff was happy and wonderfully engaging. Our waitress Heather was nothing short of fantastic, with full knowledge of the menu, perfect recommendations and a refreshing engaged professional attitude. The Ultimate Piña Colada was the best I'd ever had, and the Street Tacos were reason alone to come back to Detroit. Everything we tried inspired a "holy cow, that is delicious!" Honestly, I know I'm raving, but it was such a great place and experience that I couldn't not say something! Thanks guys, you made this trip to Detroit a memorable one!

I have been here twice. The first time, we waited and waited, asked at the hostess stand who said just a little longer, then waited and waited some more until the bartender said something wasn't right and asked the hostess. Turns out our pager was dead. The food was good. The margarita was beautiful but terrible and was kindly replaced with sangria when the waiter noticed I wasn't drinking it. Second time was this past Saturday. This time I was smart and called ahead, but there was no wait. I knew not to get the margarita, and had a delicious coconut martini instead. The coconut shrimp were also very good. The waitress-not so good. It took a long time to get our drinks. She said she was "just waiting on the bartender" to make them. No water was offered. She avoided all eye contact, dropped the bill off without saying a word or even looking at our table. I was going to order dessert. I really wanted that chocolate pineapple upside down cake! We pay, get our change, the tip is on the table, and she comes over and asks "are you all set with that" and puts her hand out for me to pass her the tip. Rude, weird, uncomfortable. I could understand, almost, if we had been hanging out for three hours and this was her not at all subtle hint for us to leave, but we had only been there a little over an hour. The food is good, but I can get good food a lot of places. If you go, let me know how that pineapple cake is!

I haven't been here in a couple years but from what i remember the food is great. I have been here several times, and each visit i would try a different pasta dish. I like their wings, but i love their pastas dishes. They have really good alcoholic beverages. I will be going back soon so i'll update this review if anything has changed for better or worst.

I've always wanted to try this place. I mean, it looks amazing from the outside, and reminds me of a modernized straw hut in the bahamas. And the inside looks great as well! But the atmosphere does little to make up for the most important part of any restaurant - the food. Service was not too good. It was about 15 minutes after seating that we received our water. That's quite a long time. But we were waiting on 1 more from our party to show up, so that may be why. I ordered the chicken curry bowl with Nann bread and some mango salsa. The mango salsa was way too sweet, like it was carmelized. And the nann bread was ok, but not very fluffy. The curry? Just ok. Nothing special. I think the problem with this place is that it tries to cover too many tastes in its menu. They should really take a page from Gordon Ramsay or the Restaurant Impossible guy and slim down their menu, and offer more specialized, better-tasting dishes. And the food is very overpriced, but that may be due to the location. I think the next time I come here, I'll just drive by. There's no reason for me to stop here again, and my friends agree. I think if you decide to eat here, you will too.

I have loved Bahama breeze for years. There wood grilled chicken breast has been my favorite food I can think of. Love the atmosphere, loved everything. Over the past year the chicken has been for the most part not edible. More than half the time I order it it is so old and rubbery it's disgusting. It feels like biting into nothing but cartilage. I go maybe twice a month so I have given it chance after chance and after maybe the 6th or 7th time I finally sent my food back and have given up on Bahama breeze. I think they may be holding chicken past the date they are supposed to. Hope it gets fixed but for now me and my friends are done with Bahama breeze. My date and I both got chicken and both were very bad but they only took mine off the bill. Not crazy about that either.

I have been here a couple times and I feel like the food just keeps getting worse. Last time we got the pulled pork and empanadas appetizers, the pork was foul and tasted as bad as it smelled. I couldn't decide what to eat so I ordered the battered chicken sliders cuz who can mess that up?! WRONG! I was pregnant and hungry and didn't like anything here except the super nice hostess and waitress, the the drink menu. Hopefully won't have to come back here.

I never thought I would like this place. Having only been twice. Once just recently. I have to say the chicken avocado wrap and fries that I got was really good! It was wrapped in Naan bread so there's no going wrong there. Fries were really crispy and the ranch wasnt half bad either. Beer was cold and the staff was really friendly and quick. I have known a few people to have parties here. Its a pretty large place with a really big parking lot. So they definitely seem to have the room to accomodate.

I was actually really impressed with some aspects of this resturaunt, overall I will say I left satisfied, however, I think the only thing lacking from this resturaunt would be that extra spark. The fish was good, not the best I've had, and was slightly dry, the green beans were good but also slightly bland. The sweet potatoes were the highlight, I must say they were quite delicious! The place itself is charming, defiantly has a tropical/margaritaville type feel to it. Cute place to come to have drinks and enjoy a nice dinner. Overall I would say this place is ok. Don't know if I would go out of my way to ever come back but I would recommend you try it, can't say you'll be too disappointed.

Too bad I can't give this place a zero star rating. The food is worth half of what you pay for it. It seems like they purchase the cheapest food service meats they can find, then try to over season or over cook it to compensate. For half the price you could go to a local greasy spoon and get better food and service.
