5 stars for my go-to dessert- the cannoli. As far as the dining experience, that can sometimes leave me feeling a bit underwhelmed. They are generally packed. I went there with my mom and sister on Saturday evening, which appears to have been a HUGE day for parties. We were first on the waiting list, and were told about 10-15 minutes for the wait time. We probably didn't get sat for a half hour or so. No big, I was a hostess, I understand you probably had some squatters. We were sat in the big room with all of the parties- and luckily, our server was quite nice and helpful. Generally, our family orders the same few dishes- stuffed shells, manicotti, gnocchi, etc. I have heard great things about their pizza, but if I want pizza, I'm probably at Reno's down the street and never made it all the way to Pia's in the first place. Their cannolis are my absolute fave and I don't find anywhere else that does it as good as them. I would say that I will try to avoid the busy times from now on, but I'll still be back anytime my mom has the cannoli craving.

Being Italian it's always nice to have a local Restrurant where you can go and feel like you are with familia. The food is always good and the service is wonderful. I have been there lots of time and will continue to go back! I highly recommend this Restrurant !!

We decided to give them another try because last time we thought that maybe the food was lackluster because of the late hour. Nope the food was lackluster because it was well - lackluster. My husband ordered the perch dinner - it looked like the frozen prepared variety because the pieces were just too perfect. There was no flavor, not even in the breading. He ate it but was not impressed. I ordered the cheese ravioli with marinara and sauteed mushrooms. Not bad, not good. The pasta was undercooked but the sauce was decent. We both had the house dressing on our salads, a little too much oil and lack of seasoning for our tastes but the bread they served with it was delicious. The only reason they are getting 3 stars is that the service was outstanding, our server was attentive without being intrusive. Just the right amount of friendly and very efficient. We most likely won't be back. Kind of sad because they have been there for so long and there really aren't any decent Italian Restaurants as close to home.

We stopped for lunch here around noon on a Wednesday. There was one waitress in the entire building, which would have been alright, had there not have been at least six other tables. Our waitress was nice and apologetic about the length of time it took for everything to come out, but...the time was ridiculous. It took about 15 minutes for her to even get over to us after sitting down to get our drink order. We ordered a salad, which took about another 20 minutes (for a small, antipasto salad...). We ordered a mini pizza, which came out about 30 minutes AFTER the salad. Our waitress did keep coming back to tell us the food would be out any second...then we waited seconds, upon seconds, upon seconds. We were here for about 1.5 hours. The food itself was pretty good. The salad dressing was a little bland, but the pizza came out piping hot and was delicious. It's a little overpriced, if you ask me...$25 for a mini pizza (six very small slices), small salad, and two drinks. I might give this place another try, but I still cannot get over how long we were here.

I'm only giving a review on the portions and prices for the size of portion ....last night we decided to stop at Pia's on the way home from Sesame Street live instead of going to Olive Garden we decided to go to local establishment (we live very nearby) . We called ahead so we could just fly In and pick up to get home since it was getting late and son had school in am ....upon picking it up it was freshly cooked very hot for the ride home ( no issues here it's very fresh) bag stapled and rolled very nice I'm smelling this delicious goodness all the way home and STARVING by the way , we get home get all settled in grab our food and sit down to eat only to find a portion size not big enough for a 7 year old ..... I ordered chicken Marsala it came with a side of spaghetti that was the size of a (small Mac n cheese from KFC for those who know the sizes there it ain't big at all ) and a salad the same size and 4 tiny and I mean tiny flattened chicken piece , don't get me wrong it was tasty very tasty just not impressed for the $12.95 i paid for it ,my wife ordered the chicken piccata I belief with extra artichoke in it , it had tons of artichoke and 3 tiny flattened chicken pieces a small little salad and oh yeah we got 6 garlic knots ( not skimpy on the bread ) , my son ordered the mozzarella sticks there were like 8 in there most places only give you 5 he was happy about that .....so that being said food quality :good to great Presentation : very good Quantity to price : very poor on carry out Service : great Will I go back ? Not likely just because I work hard for my money and feel like that's not a sensible buy I would like to think if I'm spending $31.00 for us to eat I'm at least not hungry when I'm done or rummaging thru our kitchen minutes after I eat (by the way lol 6 minutes to eat whole meal and that was taking my time ) that's how little the portions were .

I think the pizza is probably the way to go here and I have a feeling if we come back that is indeed what we will get. This time, however, we both had pasta dinners. They came with garlic rolls and butter and your choice of soup or salad. The garlic rolls are good, next time we may opt for a cup of sauce to dip into though. The minestrone my husband had was canned flavored and utterly forgettable. The plain salad I had with the house made Italian dressing was a much better choice. It was a bit of a wait for the entrees but they kept us in bread and pop so I was totally fine. The waitress was uber apologetic and generally on the ball so it was hard to be annoyed at all. I opted for the chicken piccata. It had a lovely brothy lemon butter sauce, lots of my fave artichokes, plenty of capers and quarters of button mushrooms. The chicken was in huge chunks and had very nice flavor. The fettuccine it was served on top of was flavorless and past al dente and the sauce was not really working with it. If I got it again I would either ask for angel hair or a different side altogether. My husband had the fettuccine alfredo with shrimp. Again he really enjoyed the sauce and the shrimp part but found the pasta itself a bit underwhelming. Of course he thought they should have doled out more shrimp too but he needs to wrap his head around the fact that five is pretty much a standard with pasta really. I wish he would just order chicken instead. The atmosphere is nothing to rave about, a bit old and run down feeling. It is very family friendly even in the smoking section bar area so if you do not like kids you might want to avoid Pia's altogether. We each finished all of our entrees except for the meh pasta. Usually we have leftovers when we go Italian but not here. We also decided we had enough room for dessert. I highly recommend the cannoli, it was fresh and crisp, richly stuffed with a thick vanilla filling and garnished with lots of chocolate chips.

I have been eating here for over 20 years. I LOVE their baked lasagna (but if you get it to go and like to dip bread in sauce, ask for extra). Their pizza also rocks ! Wish they had a frequent dinner program for people like me who eat there 2-4 times a month.

I probably would have given this 4 stars, but the phone in order (customer service) was wretched. I could BARELY ask a question or get anything out without being interrupted. We only ordered from Pia's because Franco's was closing and we know this is their parent's restaurant. The food was delivered hot and it was good. (The Minestrone was watery and gross though). I ordered the Trio Italiano, my daughter the 8" pizza and my husband the Baked Lasagna. We weren't diaapointed by the food, but just because you think (or think you know) that your food is good, doesn't mean the customer service has to be sh*tty. We can still take our money elsewhere.

There are a few other pizza joints in the metro area that are just like this place-family dining that happens to mainly serve pizza and pasta.. A great thing about this place is their ability to hold large groups. They have a large room in the back with multiple large tables that can hold up 30 people or more. There is also a smaller dining area and bar if you aren't with a large group. I think pizza is the way to go here - it comes hot and cheesy - greasy but not too greasy -a little sloppy - but it goes great with an antipasto. The pastas are lacking a bit so I would stick with the pizza. The service has been friendly, quick, attentive - though the front door/hostess situation seems like a bit of a cluster normally. Last note - on parking- there are spots out front, but there is also ample parking in the back. I view the door in the back as their 'front door' -

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The evening we went was very busy. Despite this, we were seated quickly, which is fantastic when you have two wiggly kids! The bread was delicious...warm, soft, for sure a favorite at our table. We ordered a pizza, which was more than enough for our family of four. Usually we don't eat our left over pizza, but This pizza was the exception! It was still good the next day...a great lunch! Our waitress was wonderful, especially with our crazy kids! We will be eating at Pia's again the next time we're in Taylor!!

I've been eating here for YEARS! I've yet to have bad food. In the busy times, wait time for food might have been longer then we've liked, but understandable. It's a downriver staple. I've also hosted parties here and again...great. Can't say enough good things about their food or prices. My favorites are the stuffed shells, lasagna and their chicken noodle soup! Don't leave with out trying a cannoli!

We went here for the first time and likely last time. I ordered a small chicken Alfredo pizza and my husband a trip plate of lasagna, chicken Parmesan and Alfredo. I asked the server to make my pizza with only half with and half without onions and peppers so my husband could enjoy some of it. They forgot to remove the onions. His dinner came out looking like something you'd heat up from a TV dinner. The lasagna had about three layers and was extremely bland and was so watery it looked like a blob of noodles on the plate. The chicken parm was nothing to write home about and again could easily have been something you cook from frozen. The Alfredo noodles and sauce tasted like Ragu. For some reason they thought this meal was worth $15.95. My pizza was bland as well, likely from the Ragu-like Alfredo sauce. The interior was decent but the staff apparently do nothing to address loud and rude guests. We ha a table next to us with a guy who dropped the f-bomb in every sentence. Had our daughter been with us, this would have been a huge problem. What's worse is that there were children in the area and did they did nothing about it. This restaurant did not appear to be a rough place either. Don't come here unless you want poor quality food, service and a pricey bill.

There are a lot of negative reviews for this place. I will say that yes there are many loud kids but what else do you expect from an Italian mom and pop place? Families feel comfortable bringing the whole family here and having an Italian dinner. As for the sandwiches and chicken plates that most are complaining about. Well, I've never tried the sandwiches or any of the chicken type plates. I really want to venture into something different but the spiciness and conveniently meatless combo of this plate just has me hooked! I did have it done Pia's way, it's baked with mozzarella on top. It was great today! I loved it! Their salad however is still lacking for me. I do like the Italian dressing and if it wasn't for the loaded red onion then I wouldn't go for it. The bread as usual still great. As for the service, there are many negative reviews about that too. This is my 3rd time coming here in one year. I believe I've had the same waitress too. She has been very pleasant and I can see the other waitresses are just as friendly. I did not see any dirty floors but see the waitresses constantly wiping the tables down. Very happy to come here when I can as long as the experiences are as I've experienced before.

Just tried to get a delivery to oakwood heritage hospital which is 2.2 miles away from the restaurant. Was told that it's 'too difficult for all parties involved to deliver to the hospital.' The girl on the phone couldn't give me a straighter answer than that. #whatthehelldoesthatmean

Great old hometown Pizzaria flair! Waitstaff is usually good and the Pizza is a cut above any chain carryout. Reccomended for all Pizza explorers out there, you won't be dissappointed.

Ambience - Mixed. Part sit down pizzeria part hall. Service - The wait staff is always friendly and hard work. Food/Drinks - If you want a great hand tossed pizza or home made pasta then Pia's is the place for you. Overall - I eat here all the time and it always hits the spot. Great place to have a little party or shower as well.

I'm very happy all around. I am a bit of a food snob and ESPECIALLY when it comes to Italian food and SPECIFICALLY Gnocchi. This gnocchi was perfect. Cooked to perfection. Not too much salt, perfect amount of starchiness, great texture and amazing flavor with the bolognese. Maria the bartender is extremely pleasant and personable and incredibly efficient. Not just wity me, but with the entire bar and staff. She's fantastic! My Bloody Mary is just right. And that bread....fagedabadit. I Just recently moved back to Michigan but I am new to the area. I am incredibly happy to see Fortisimo behind the bar. Just what Grandpa Olimpio drinks. I will definitely be back. I look forward to trying more dishes! Only one small little thing but it wouldn't change my rating one bit. Maria mentioned a strawberry cannoli...how can I say no to that? My 2 favorite things in 1 dessert?! The filling was amazing. The ONLY critique I would give, fill the cannoli per order. The shell gets soggy and those don't get soggy fast do it must've been a little while ago. It was still absolutely delicious and I can't wait to try the traditional cannoli.

I've been to Pia's 3 or 4 times and each time has been as good or better than the last. The food is really good and the service is excellent as well! I've never had a bad meal here and additionally they have a couple of things that was good for my friend , who is allergic to onions. It can be very hard to order food at an Italian restaurant for this particular allergy but they have a sauce w/o onions (the blush sauce) and they went out of their way to make sure nothing he ordered had onions. The garlic bread is awesome!!! Lots of combinations with the pasta and different sauces and the pizza is good as well. They can accommodate large parties and have intimate booths as well. If you're in the Taylor area, stop in and give them a try!!

This is our go-to place for pizza in the northern Downriver area. Love their Meat-eaters pizza. Service is usually okay (I say usually as my last visit on 5/18/2013 was SLOW, the waitress was really beat and didn't care) and other items on the menu are nice. That said - how hard is it to take cheese filled tortelini's, saute them in butter and serve with garlic? I didn't want oil - sauteed with garlic and butter, like scampi (which is on the menu and very nice). Nope. Not sauteed. Boiled and served with oil and raw garlic. For dinner on Sunday, I sauteed the oil, garlic and pasta and it was what I wanted the day before. Alas, I need a new Italian place and will reserve Pia's for the pizaa dinners.

Ordered a gluten free meat eaters pizza and a medium meat eaters regular pizza and a small antipasto salad to go. Both pizzas toppings were burnt, and not generous at all with the toppings. To top it all off it was $45!
I went in with 4 friends on Friday right at dinner time. We got seated right away and the service was good. The pizza fries were enjoyed by all, and the pizza came out quick. The price was right and the pie tasted good. My buddies and I got excited when we saw an x-men arcade game in the corner, but were disappointed when it wasn't the co-op beat em up from our childhood. That would've made Pia's a 5 star lock

VERY pricey, chicken sandwich was dry and not seasoned but salad was fresh and bread was good... Kind of made me mad with their over priced items. 3.00 for extra sauce for veal. All I got was a chicken sandwich for 8.00 that wasn't very good.

The food is great. Fantastic pizza, great pasta and awesome homemade sauce. Great Antipasto and house dressing. The only downside to this place has got to be the service. It doesn't matter if we go there for lunch (we are right down the street) or lunch/dinner on the weekend, we have never once had decent service. The waitresses hardly ever smile, or greet you. The service is deathly slow and you are lucky if you get your water re-filled. It's such a shame that they can't get better servers. The food is excellent and it's a shame to throw crappy service on top of it. Desserts are really good. Cannolis are awesome and Tiramisu is also very good here. Lunch menu is great and you can get salads or 1/2 orders of the pasta. Meatballs are homemade and very good as well. We go here about 2-3 times a month for work lunches and unfortunately are always late getting back due to the horrible service. It seems like the staff has just checked out. A shame.... We'd spend a lot more money here.

Eggplant parm!!!!! Seriously, get it! Right now! It's like Antonio's food without the Antonio's price. Soooo good. We always have birthday parties and after-random-event celbrations here. You can get pizza or pasta, so pretty much everyone is happy. Their pizza is really good too. Not like cardboard-happy-little caesaers. Really, such a nice option to have in this area. I am so craving Eggplant Parm now.

The food is always great each time we go. I'm a huge fan of the gnocchi and the shrimp scampi. I don't like sitting in the banquet room when we go, it always seems like they're short-staffed on that side and there's usually kids running around.

The pasta is pretty good here but I go for the pizza. Over the years I would eat here occasionally. I always liked pizza, but never craved it so much. So I never really thought too much about who had the best pizza. But, I don't live in the area anymore. I moved out east where (in my humble opinion) the pizza is super awesome and so good too. So, when I come home to MI and I never consider ordering pizza that much. Then one day we ordered Pia's and I had hope again. It really has good crust. Not too thick, but not too thin. The sauce is lovely too and it's not too greasy. I think they have the one of the best pizzas in the area and are reasonably priced. This is one of the few places I will get my pizza from. I still keep their magnet on my fridge.

what a scam this place is ! My husband and i came here for dinner one night. I ordered pasta and our server asked me if i wanted chicken or shrimp, or beef.... i stated chicken. She didnt tell me it wasnt included and added $2.95 to our bill ! OUCH. Now who on earth orders pasta and charges extra for the meat.....? Did i mention my pasta dish cost $12.00????? (that's without the meat) OUCH again. My hubby ordered pizza which was average, but then again OUCH ! it was $16.00 for a medium ! holy cow

Pia's is a Taylor tradition, and hasn't really changed with the times. The food is good, but a lot of their pasta is over priced. It could be a nice intimate setting, but usually you get stuck in the big hall with crowds of kids running around unsupervised.

Out of any pizza place I've been to downriver, Pia's does it best. One thing I'm reminded of when thinking of downriver pizzerias is that a quality sauce is important. I think it was at Roma's that I got a "Sicilian pizza sauce," which ends up being a good gauge for how excellent Pia's sauce is. Roma's sauce was nauseating. Pia's may induce sleep, but certainly not vomiting. They're moderately priced for a dine-in pizzeria, say $15 for a fully-loaded large pizza. (and trust me, you will be taking some of this home.) The portions are huge, as are the helpings of toppings. Couple that with full bar service, and you have an absolute winner of a place! Also, it helps that the servers are super sweet and always helpful when going through their menu. They do a large number of things - subs, pastas, and the like. All tasty I say! I would suggest never ever getting a pizza without the cheesy bread sticks. You'll understand why when it touches your tongue - the best bread sticks ever!

If you go to this landmark Taylor restaurant, get the pizza. The pizza is great, but I haven't been impressed with other dishes. The stuffed chicken breast tasted like something you could get from any frozen food section of a grocery store, which is where I assume it came from. However, the service and the pizza rate 5 stars!

I went here on Sunday afternoon. The food was pretty good, but the service was terrible. We didn't get our food and bread until a half hour after we arrived. We had been there over an hour by the time the rest of our food was ready. Then when we paid the bill, they didn't take off our coupon correctly. After complaining to the waitress, she attempted to fix the discount but it still wasn't right. What was supposed to be a quick lunch turned into a 2 hour ordeal.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Had the chicken Alfredo and a few beers which was pretty good. Our waitress was very good and quick with our requests. Had a pretty nice atmosphere and a few tvs. Would recommend it to someone if asked.

This place deserves NO STARS!! Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. My fiancé and I ordered a delivery for mostacholi and baked ravioli and when we got the order the sizes were so little and the ravioli was less than half full and looked microwaved. When my fiancé called in to speak with a manager (fred) he was very rude and pretty much told him that's how it comes and there's nothing he can do. Never once asked if we'd like a refund or a new order. My fiance asked to speak to the owner and Fred told him Louie was not there and to call back the next day. Then proceeded to hang up on him. My fiancé immediately called back and spoke to a woman on the phone and when he asked for Louie (The so called owner) the lady tells him Louie hasn't worked there in 10 years. After talking to her we decided to drive all the way to the restaurant to bring the food back and ask for our money back. When we got there we showed Fred the ravioli and mostacholi and he told us that he didn't see anything wrong with the order and that that's how it's served. After arguing with the man for 10 minutes he finally gives us our money back but refused to give us the full amount because it was a delivery and refused to give us the owners number. While Fred and my fiancé we're arguing I decided to go to the restaurant side to find an actual owner or someone higher up to talk to. I talked to a lady the was in charge on the restaurant side and showed her the ravioli and she too said that that's how it comes and apologized. when we asked her about the owner she gave us a different name...which was Diane. But would not give us a number to contact her. Needless to say none of the managers were helpful nor did they know who was the owner of a "family" business. I have worked in the restaurant business for 8 years with 2 different restaurants that were both family owned and have never seen this type of unprofessional management or quality of customer service. I would never ever come back to this place and would never recommend this restaurant or carryout service to anyone.

All I got was a chicken sandwich for 8.00 that wasn't very good.

visited here for the first time recently. had a very good pizza, breadsticks, and salad. service was excellent. considering there are 100 different pizza places close to home that deliver to my house i would go back out of my way to eat here again. very good!

Food was delicious, service was ok. I will definitely go back for more eggplant parmesan.
