Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

The only reason I only gave them 4 stars was because they don't DELIVER! Finally, I have a place to take my [Mexican] Mother when she visits (and I live a block away from The Matador)!! I liked it SO much I scanned in their menu!!

I've eaten in and gotten take-out a couple times now. This is a pretty good Mexican place. Entrees run anywhere from $8 to $15. The chicken they use is moist and flavorful. Their red enchilada sauce has a spicy kick and the rice has always been fresh and tasty. Their "salsa" is actually hot sauce... so if you're a chunky salsa lover, you won't find it here. The service is probably the only thing they really need to work on, because the servers seem to congregate in the back instead of tending to the tables. There's a full bar and televisions if you want to stop in just for a drink... but I suggest sitting down for a nice dinner.

This is the real deal. If you want authentic Mexican food (not Chili's Tex Mex), then you should support this local business. It's one of the main spots in my rotation and the only Mexican restaurant I frequent in the area (there are several to choose from). Recommend: Combination Dinner, Mexican Plate, Fajitas, Botanas Pros: Authentic food and staff (practice your Espanol!), good prices, full bar, lunch specials on weekdays. Cons: Yes, the decor is old. Truth be told, I kind of like the wood paneling and random Mexican artifacts on the walls.

This restraunt started out in my old neighborhood...Warrendale, so after I moved imagine how excited when I heard they were putting one in Allen Park!! The staff very friendly, the food very authentic! Recommend the Botana with beans and chrizo, or chili Rellinos (cheese)...hubby likes the Chicken chimmi! Some times I think they could be more generous with the size and toppings on the botana...just sayin

This probably was the worse food I've ever had, let alone worse Mexican food. The chicken was likely the canned chicken breast that they sell as 10 packs at Costco. They apparently didn't have any peppers to make the food spicy, so it was rather bland. Additionally, what kind of Mexican restaurant doesn't have a carne asada burrito? WTF??? The so called 'guacamole' was simply mashed avocados. Not a hint of lime or salt like guacamole is supposed to have. The chips tasted like stale tortilla chips that had been in the cupboard for a couple years, and the salsa was like water and the only hot sauce they had was Tapatio. They don't have any peppers and the only hot sauce is Tapatio?? Might as well call this place Taco Bell.. wait a min at least Taco Bell has the fire sauce. Not to mention that Taco Bell for at least has some good taste to it. The so called wet burrito that I had was like one of those frozen wet burritos with watered down ketchup on it. Flippin terrible. I would never go here again.

This restaurant used to be called That's Amore Family Dining. I remember that from my childhood. Now it's a Mexican Restaurant. When we were living in Dearborn Heights we ate here almost every week. I've tried most things on the menu. Things that I remember enjoying were the Pork in Green Sauce, the tamales, the avocado Salad. The service is good because usually it's dead in there.

Reserved for a "Welcome home" party. Party was about 40 people ordering appetizers, main dishes, Flan and plenty of drinks and Beer. It was very difficult to order pass the first round. Servers were no where to be found. Food was cold and bad. Service was horrible, waitresses rude when we did find them. Place was very dirty, Charges incurred for use of dessert plates for "Welcome Home" cake that was brought in with prior approval. Was previously a regular customer...never again! I was so embarrassed for recommending this place!

This is hands down the best place to go for Mexican food. My family and I have been going here for years! The food is always fresh and very reasonibly priced. I have not found a Mexican restaurant that even compares. My fav dishes are the wet burrito, vegeterian dinner (if you are a cheese lover) and the cheese enchiladas are to die for. The rice and beans served with the meals are exceptional! You can tell they are homemade and not out of the can. The spanish rice is very good and served with most meals. If you are looking for truly authentic mexican food. This is the place to go!

This is a great spot for Mexican food Downriver. Everything we ordered was fresh and cooked to perfection. They also had a full bar, which was seriously underutilized. The place was pretty dead for a Saturday night, but if you're looking for a scene in Taylor, you're going to be pretty disappointed anyway.

This restaurant is literally about 10 blocks from my house. We pick it for the ease of location. But, we also come here because the food is always great. The service is usually pretty good-I guess it depends on who is on staff that day. But I've never felt like the service was bad. The restaurant itself could use a facelift. It does appear a little "unkept", but it could just be the fact that it's so dated. I've never felt uncomfortable eating there because the food is always so consistently good. At lunch they serve a Mexican soup that my husband and I both love, but for some reason, they don't offer it in the dinner menu. Wish they would though! You can tell it's all family working there. Sometimes if I come in for an early dinner, you will see the family children sitting at one of the booths doing homework. Doesn't bother me at all, they are well mannered children just doing their homework! The restaurant is never packed, sometimes we are the only customers. I really don't know why, the food is excellent. Maybe it's the location. And again, the place could use a facelift. I agree with another poster that the bar is underutelized! Their Margaritas are awesome and they have a full bar. The salsa is not chunky, but I still like it. It's almost more like a hot sauce. I put it all over my food too. The Chili Relleno's are really good with the meat in them. They are also very accomodating to changes on the menu. Such as if you order a combination dinner, it comes with certain meats for each item, but they will let you choose your meat. I love love love their pork and chunky beef. I get the pork on the wet burritos. You won't be disappointed! After all this talk about their food, I think I know where I'm going for dinner tonight!

The goods:food was excellent, menu had great variety, margarita was tasty, chips were warm and salsa was good, prices were fair, portions were generous The bads: the place was dead and the waitstaff were barely attentive, we didn't wait too long for stuff, but it looked like they would rather chat in the corner than see how we were doing, dining area was dirty and smelled funny, on our way to sit in our booth, there were three tables that had not been cleaned and they stayed that way for 20 minutes The verdict: La Hacienda had good food, but they need to clean up their act. Also, the waitstaff need to get a clue. I probably won't be going back anytime soon.

Lahaicienda's is a mom and pop type Mexican place. Went here for lunch and it was dead. The place as like 20 tables but we were the only ones in there. Food was okay, nothing special. I got the fajitas and they pulled the typical crap where they don't give you enough tortillas. Service was also just okay, nothing super speedy.

The hubs and I tried this after countless recommendations from family and friends. It was really good, but it's been a couple months and we haven't been back. We were satisfied but I don't remember many details, so I guess, for me, it doesn't warrant the 5 stars. I do however remember the botana. Spectacular. The service was slow at first but actually ended up being really good. The lady knew it was our first time there and really wanted us to enjoy ourselves. She made recommendations and kept checking to make sure we liked everything. We really should go back and probably will fairly soon. Anything that provides a decent alternative to Mexican Fiesta is a winner in my book.
