I have to say the guacamole and chips and salsa have always been the best here at amigos, and still are! However the beans looked and tasted dried out and the rice was about the same. My enchiladas were super salty. My daughter liked her cheese quesadillas tho so that makes me happy. We were happy with the waitress as well.

I'm surprised at some of the negative reviews, I've been to Amigo's quite a few times and have always had good service and excellent food. Prices are quite good, usually around 8.99 for a dinner with rice and beans, and the lunch specials are very cheap. Our favorite is taco tuesday, hard tacos only .99!

The "BEST" steak fajitas ever, be sure & ask for a side of their house made steak sauce (it's not what your thinking). "LOVE" their wet burrito! Salsa is very different, but it's the bomb, "In a good way!" I'm addicted :-)

Came for lunch. The service was prompt, the food was hot & tasty, and the bill was $8.35 plus tip out the door. What more do you want in a great Mexican-American restaurant. Also, the dinner specials look great too (Thursdays are chicken fajitas for 2 with bev. Included for $18.99).

Pretty lackluster texmex. Quality of food is not as good as other restaurants in the area.

I've been going to Amigo's just about once a week since I was a kid. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal. The food they serve May not be the most authentic Mexican food. But it is hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The portions are always generous. Expect to take some home with you. I highly recommend the chimichangas or the nachos. The best part, in my opinion, is their house made "salsa". It's really more of a sauce than a salsa, but it's darn good. It'll leave you wanting more!

If you're looking for a high end restaurant with beautiful decor, you're in the wrong place. I, however go there for AMAZING chips and salsa. It's seriously the best I've ever had and Mexican is my favorite cuisine. The rest of the food is very good as well and I've had good experiences with the waitstaff. I affectionately call Amigos my favorite restaurant. Now... I think I need some of that salsa. And a straw!

Have tried this place about 3 or 4 times for take out. Don't think I'll be going back. Food is basic bland Mexican, everything tasted like it was from a can or frozen. I have never decided to eat in the restaurant as it is not inviting and dirty. Staff not very friendly.

We love Amigo's! It is right next door to my office, and my staff and I eat here all the time. The staff is exceptionally friendly and always remembers us and our exact order. The fish tacos are to die for!!! My husband loves the botana and gets it every time. The chip are salsa are fresh and yummy as well. We highly recommend this place.

The staff was pleasant. But I had to wait several minutes while they got a table prepared, even though I could see several open tables from the front door. I understand the need to balance work between servers, so I was agreeable. Then they sat me at the table I'd just watched them clear, right next to one of the open tables! The reason given was to provide a table further from the cold of the entrance, but upon arriving at the table, more available tables, further from the door, became visible. The table was left with a large quantity of standing bacteria-water since the table was not wiped dry from being serviced before I was seated. The beef in the enchiladas seemed rather bland. The red sauce on the enchiladas was not to my taste (a touch bitter for my Tex-Mex taste, but I know many people seem content with such recipes). Overall, I do not see a reason to pick Amigo's when there's another wildly-popular Mexican restaurant two blocks down.

Aside from the appearance of the joint and rude waitress the food was great a little pricey but tasty.......although I would never choose their mild salsa again

Meh, I am not going to say this place is terrible but it just isn't delicious. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The food wasn't bad it just wasn't that great. The salsa was decent and actually a little spicy (which I like). The prices are reasonable and they give you enough food. This place has potential, they just need to step it up a bit.

very poor example of mexican food. my tamales were so hard, and unappetizing. A minor spoonful of beans. I was there at noon on Cinco De Mayo, so everything should have been fresh not 3 days on a steam table.

Microwaved pre-shredded yellow food service cheese is not authentic Mexican food.

Hmmmm, I think this place sucks...and I'm Mexican so you'd think I'd at least give it a couple stars. But no, it really is pretty weak.

Ive been going to Amigo's ever since I was a kid because my Dad worked w/ Hector a million years ago at McLouth. The food here has always been fresh and very authentic. The chips and salsa are very good and you will keep eating them until you can't eat anymore which is good and bad because your too full when your food comes lol. Overall a great place to eat at.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
