I love Zoup and had to write a review because the ratings are low at this location and I've always left satisfied so it surprised me. Vegetarian split pea is my favorite and lobster bisque is a close second. The employees are always kind. As far as customers being crabby, that is clearly not the fault of the people working there because they're doing their jobs. How are the employees at fault because this location gets busy at lunchtime? Most places in the area are pretty darn busy during lunch hours. When I stop after work there are no long lines or angry people.

15+ minute wait for a cup of soup, and it wasn't even slightly busy. Soup was all right, but this is the third consecutive visit for me when I had to wait an unreasonable amount of time in comparison with the amount of people in line. Won't be coming back.

I love coming here for lunch. The soup is delicious. In the summer from Memorial weekend though/until Labor Day weekend they have gazpacho soup everyday I literally went in everyday last summer for the gazpacho soup. Can't wait for Memorial weekend so I can get it again. I've been making it at home but it isn't the same. I must add the service is always amazing! A few of them even remember me by name.

Sooooo slow. It was basically empty and still took forever to get my order. Wasn't even the lunch rush today. Last time they got my order all mixed up. This time the Order was right but the soup was way too salty.

People are dicks here, plain and simple. The workers are disgruntled, the people in line are crabby, and the wait for to-go orders creates another line that wraps around where people have no place to stand, creating more a-hole behavior. However, they are also awful at making change here, so at least you may make a buck or two. The soup is OK but definitely overpriced for what you get.

Four stars for SOUP I might add! Clean, friendly and fast... Great choices, but I wish some of the soups weren't so heavy. Glad to see they added some sandwiches and salads. The chicken pot pie is still my favorite, I also like the lobster bisque. But both are quite heavy and filling. Expensive for soup! Two bowls and a cup for $20

Sometimes you just want some soup. I know I often do. Well, Zoup has soup... but I'd be lying if I said I usually leave satisfied. It's not that I leave un-full, I just am less than impressed. I've not experienced the service issues others have, and they are always happy to offer you samples before you order.

I am typing this with one hand because my other hand is holding a steamy hot cup of Italian Wedding soup with Turkey meatballs. YEOWZA!! It's good, its not too salty and it has just enough of everything in it. This location is minutes from my office and I go here more often in the colder months but I have been a fan for years now. I love soup and I love the usual staples they have here and the rotating selection is great as well. and mmm mmm on the multigrain roll with my soup!! Great for dunking! The service here is always soooooo uber friendly, I think they get some sort of smile bonus. "if you can smile for your entire shift you'll get a free soup" ahahaha! In a way I am glad I do not live closer to this Zoup because I fear I may eat there 4 days a week! YUMM Keep it up Zoup, I'm a fan!!

I thought i had already posted on this Zoup! location but anyway. Since Zoup! is a chain of restaurants I'll start with this location itself. The interior is big and spacious with a large dining area near the front with plenty of window viewing and natural light and there is also a "back room or back seating area" with a lot of booths. It's an excellent setup and a nice place to bring friends. It is pretty busy at lunch and somewhat busy on the weekends. At our past visits, the staff was up and down but recently (I'd say in the last year) the staff at this particular Zoup! has been excellent. They have been courteous and often very friendly in asking if you want samples. They also are fast, even when it's busy. They don't rush you and also don't take long after you've placed your order. What I like about Zoup! is that they have a good selection of soups for everyone even those with particular dining needs and everything is labeled. Vegan and vegetarian items are labeled as are gluten free items, low fat items, dairy free items, and spicy items. I don't remember if low salt items are listed but i think they might be. I use the word items because Zoup has some delicious salads and sandwiches too. The vegetarian sandwich with hummus is delicious as is the MLT (mozzarella sandwich) according to friends. The Sonoma salad with raspberries is my favorite salad and I think that they have other specials. However, that's about it in those two categories for vegetarians. I mostly like to get a soup in a bread bowl but you can also get it in a plastic bowl. One also gets a piece of bread on the side with the soup. I love the sourdough bread. It's a nice light meal. The problem with Zoup! is that the flavor and spice always seems a bit off to me in any soup I order. It's not bad but some of the soups have an aftertaste, some are a bit salty, and some are too rich. Also it does seem expensive for a bowl of soup for a party of three to be at around $30. Actually it just doesn't seem expensive, it IS expensive. I can get cheaper fresh soups at the local store like I did today! I love though that Zoup! labels the products though for those with different dietary needs. 5 stars for that. 4 stars for their selection of products. More vegetarians options for salads and sandwiches would be easy to do. 3.5-4 stars for the customer service. 3 stars for the taste of the soups. 2.5-3 stars for the price.

Very G-H-E-T-T-O staff!! Not at all impressed with the prices of ZOUP or freshness of their soups! I purchase a 1/2 salad and bowl of their Gumbo and it costed me nearly $10!! Zoup posts inside the store that they have "free samples," but when I asked for one, the staff member seemed a tad turned off and had an attitude about it. Note to restaurant owners/managers: Teach your staff some class! I do not enjoy the "N" word or who you plan to curse out or fight once you are off of work! Save that information for your break, or better yet.. WHEN YOU'RE OFF WORK!! The chairs and tables were dirty, so dining in was not an option, The floor was sticky and needed to be mopped. Half the place was roped off (I guess because it was the only clean side) and the sandwich grill needed to be clean because there was a burnt food small coming from it, which only comes from dirty grills with left over food that needs to be cleaned out. p.s.. what's with the cheap plastic cups given to you, when a patron wants water?? Like, really? Will not return to this location again! :)

The restaurant pickings around my place of work (otherwise known as the suffering place, the office, daytime purgatory) are slim as to induce a sigh. Remove pizza as an alternative and cross out fast food as a matter of habit, and the slim pickings dwindle down to the sprig of hay in a redneck's teeth. My lunch hours are frequently shortened by project deadlines, so I look for efficient, flavourful options I might take back to my desk. Zoup fulfills three important criteria: close, quick, cheap. I can zip down to Twelve Mile to fulfill my cravings for something warm and filling in the winter. Once inside, a reasonably inexpensive soup can be had in as little as five minutes. On the other hand, finding a parking spot between 11:30A and 1:30P is a feat worthy of an award -- either for patience or complete disregard for others because people haunt the graveyards like the Goat of Sacrifice Past over the Chicago Cubs. The parking lot, shared with popular Grape Leaves, brims with double the cars it can support. The menu consists of many soups from broth-and-veggie to hearty meats. I am sodium-conscious and finding nutritional statistics being difficult aside, the lower-sodium options were completely wiped out by 1 PM. The changing variety is likely to appeal to the palette, but I point out good soups can be purchased from Meijer or Kroger or assembled in your personal crockpot with just as much ease and less expense. I ended up ordering a tomato variant on my last visit, and I couldn't finish half. A soup shouldn't betray its salty underskirts after the first sip. Let me indulge in a feeling of warmth and then the simmering pleasure of thick tomatoed bisque flowing across my tongue. The first kisses ought to be spicy by preference, but I'm not here to make out with Bambi's salt lick. Worse, when I went for the pop to clear my mouth of the flavour, it had the strangest metallic taste that immediately warns me the pop mix is completely off. I got a grumpy look when I went up to the counter and informed them the drink tasted off, while my mouth was slowly desiccating to resemble Utah at the height of July. By the time I had a glass of water to alleviate the discomfort, I was ready to gulp the soup tureen and put myself out of one misery and into another. Zoup's soups are nice, but nothing to write home about, and my experiences are increasingly marred by excessive saltiness. I'm suspicious of the heavier varieties -- Italian Wedding, for example -- as being major culprits for salt-overdose. The staff, however, are a good bunch of people who have perkiness in spades. I wonder what they get in *their* soups to make them glad.

I've been here many times, and every time I go, something goes wrong with my food... I order the exact same thing, every time, and it doesn't matter if I order by phone, online, or in person; my sandwich will not be grilled and have cheese, when I order it grilled and without cheese. *sigh* I've given up. Since there are few healthy, vegetarian options in Southfield I will stay away from ordering anything that may have the chance of being misinterpreted, but I will only come back in case it is absolutely no other choice. Customer service is average, bordering mediocre depending who is working. Tables are usually dirty. They only have disposable tableware and no recycling bin. On the positive side, split pea soup and gazpacho are consistently good. There is usually plenty of parking available and service is fairly quick. Beware of drivers in this parking lot, not the best and almost always on their cell phones. Overall: lots to be desired. Zoup should jump in the vegetarian, environmentally friendly bandwagon and include people like me in their targeted demographic. :o)

Since my office just moved to this area, I decided to forage for lunch restaurants the other day. Once I started driving, the thick snow and slick roads drove me whatever looked like it was fast. Zoup seemed a good candidate. I have often seen these franchises and may have actually eaten at one but I have no memory of it. Zoup has a menu of soups, salads and sandwiches. I decided to skip the soup part because they were out of every vegetarian one except split pea (not a favorite). In a word, my meal was disappointing. I got a Cali Veg sandwich and a Greek salad. The sandwich was a blah combination of guacamole, cheese, cucumbers and veggies with tzatziki (yogurt-dill-cucumber) sauce on a multi-grain flat bread. As someone who makes a mean tzatziki and enjoys ordering it from many area restaurants, calling this sauce tzatziki borders on false advertising. The Greek salad had lettuce, feta cheese and onion. However, it lacked beets and it used, believe it or not, a balsamic vinaigrette dressing rather than a Greek one. Further web research after my lunch revealed that Zoup likes to use lots of Zodium in everything (especially the Zoup). However, they like to keep it a Zecret; it is not included with its nutrition facts. Given that and the pale, Americanized versions of authentic cuisine, I won't be back unless I have no other choice.

My first ever visit here was a good one I must say. I had the lobster bisque and the chicken toscana sandwich on ciabatta back then and that meal certainly made me wanting to be back again sometime soon after. Second time back, I left that day with not so much of a good feeling that I remembered having during my first visit there - this time I had again the lobster bisque, pairing it with the chicken greek wrap. The wrap was fine, not exceedingly good that I would recommend to anyone or even ordering it again myself the next time. The soup, on another note was a disappointment that day. I left with an extra thirst that lasted for hours that day, and no amount water seemed good enough to quench it miraculously. Third time back, I had the el grande chili, pairing it with the chicken toscana on their multigrain flatbread wrap. It was a fine combination, although by now I have decided that their wraps probably will never wow me and that hey fare better with their sandwiches. Yes, I definitely have experienced better wraps elsewhere. This time, my husband had the loster bisque in a bread boule, and this is a huge let down of the day. The sourdough bread bowl was way too pale. Totally under-baked, it got soggy so fast mu husband had to race through eating against it. That was more than a month ago. And to this day, sadly we have yet to crave for anything from their menu. We may be back again in the future, but it will have to take a while more before it happens. You just never know what to expect when it comes to inconsistent food quality, and that really does put us off. Another point worth noting would be their service. We both agreed that they will have to work out on their food order and pick-up system. There usually will be a huge crowd in front of the counter waiting to be called. Sometimes they will be calling out numbers, and other times it will be the customers' names. It is rather inconvenient having to squeeze through the crowd to get to your order sometimes, and then again through the same crowd getting your drinks from the dispenser, or even getting an order mixed up in the end. The employees are great in general nevertheless - they are friendly, always on the move behind the counter.

Zoup has changed over the past few years, and not for the better (in my opinion). The menu now seems to be fixed instead of rotating, the fridge case filled with pre-packaged soups is gone, the containers look smaller to me (my family disagree with this) and the Chicken Pot Pie soup is really just cream of chicken with a few crust crumbs sprinkled over it. Grumble grumble. Having got my grumbles out of the way, however, I have to add that Zoup is still the best place in the neighborhood for mouth-watering soups, salads and sandwiches. We go there all year long, but especially when the weather gets cold. Nothing will warm you up and cheer you up better than a bowl of their Lobster Bisque, or Spicy Italian Vegetable, or Mushroom Bisque. The warmth and cheerfulness of the staff greatly enhance the effect.

Zoup is the greatest spot for a chilly autumn or winter day. A steaming hot cup of soup with a fresh roll for dipping. Mmmmm the kinda goodness that makes you start swinging your feet like a five year old and licking every last morsel off your spoon. My favorite is the lobster bisque, always with nice chunks of lobster meat. My other favorite is the seafood chowder. YUM YUM YUM. Their prices are good and you can even get a larger size if your soup jones wants to save some for later.

What's up with the super nice people ? we came a little disoriented and they explained it all. Came a person that obviously comes a lot, they called him by his first name, asked if he wanted the usual. I mean wow. Can also get little taste. I got 2 side soups and a piece of bread and i was happy. We did not notice the 8pm close time. We went a little over, and they told us to take our time, and they were cleaning up anyway. I don't know, i was just happy, the food was good and the people nice. What can you ask for ?

I have only taken food out of this place so I cannot comment on the service. The soups and bread that comes along with it were very good every time I have had them from here. IT wasn't terribly expensive but it came to a a bit for soup and bread for two. But we had enough to eat and it was tasty each time.

This is a perfect place for soup on any day. They have around 12 soups every day at pretty good prices and they taste great. The service is friendly and very fast at this location. I was in at 6PM on a Friday, so there wasn't much of a crowd. I ordered all of my soups to go and everything stayed warm for the 20 minutes I needed to have it in their insulated bowls. The bread was also fresh and delicious. I wish there was one closer to home. It's somewhat out of the way for me to get there on my way home from work.

This concept of a franchise with a lot of soups... ! 4 stars just for that... ! :) I tried Corn & crab chowder today and it was very delicious... I bet some other soups would be good too... and plus they have sandwiches and stuff to accompany... it could overall be a very good place to have lunch if there is one by your office...

Terrific spot for a quick lunch either eat in or takeaway. Zoup has a very good selection of soups some interesting smoky tastes & i love the bread rolls they usually come with. The the various sandwiches including choice of breads is 3 rungs above Quiznos or Subway.Happy friendly service & clean, but only 1 restroom which can mean a wait at lunchtime

I wish there were a Zoup closer to where I live. I love this place. Good food, fairly inexpensive and a great treat on a cold winter day. One of my favorites is the chicken pot pie soup, which is on the menu in pretty regular rotation. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed: there are many options on any given day but some soups are featured regularly.

I love Zoup! Great selection, free samples, and always a different menu of soups to pick from. Sandwiches are decent too.
