corned beef PERFECTLY LEAN without asking - coleslaw not goopy or overly sweet - onion roll very fresh and vegetable soup rocked.

I ordered a tuna melt and it was really cheap tuna. They also apparently bulk up the tuna with hard boiled eggs, which I've never seen before. I was at least hoping for a nice crunchy pickle spear... Nope, it was a cheap limp pickle. Won't be going back.

Corn beef on rye with extra meat was my order. It was fantastic. The meat was flavorful and juicy not fatty just juicy delicious. Well worth the price, I will be back and will bring my daughter in law.

After reading the reviews, I was excited to come here...many people rave about Lou's but I left feeling disappointed on all accounts. The decor is not inviting, warm, or attractive - stark white walls, lots of plain open space, hard tables and booths, bright fluorescent lighting. Felt like it could use a bit of a clean as well. Workers behind the counter were all business, no friendliness....seemed a little annoyed to be there in general and especially annoyed when I was taking a moment to read the menu (as it was my first time). I ordered a sandwich called the Marygrove that was turkey and coleslaw on a roll. You have your choice to get your sandwich hot or cold - I went hot. Waited about 5-6 minutes til my order was up. The turkey was hot, but the bun was cold. They did load the sandwich up, but it made it really messy, falling apart, and difficult to eat. The turkey was good, but the coleslaw was flavorless and the cold bun just really made the whole thing fall flat. Over all it was alright, but nothing I'd ever find myself craving again. And it's pricey! $9 for a mediocre sandwich and pickle spear. Not really looking to go back. Maybe the other Lou's locations are better?

Good location, especially if you call ahead of time. I order the counterman's treat and never have been disappointed. It compares well to the delis further out in the burbs and the prices match them as well. The deviled eggs are a nice plus. Definitely worth the trip.

Was recently "home" in Detroit for an appointment and made my traditional Lou's stop, as it is one of the things I so miss about the D!!! I've been a fan for many years, dating back to when the 6 Mile (McNichols) location was the one and only. We used to live on Cherrylawn & Curtis. My father worked as a part-time driver for Lefkofsky's on Livernois, who supplied kosher meats to Lou's & Machus Red Fox, just to name two of their many customers. The meat was magnificent in the mid-70s when he and my mom used to order the Roselawn and the classic corned beef on rye. And, it's just as wonderful now when I order my Courterman's Treat with extra Russian and add grilled onions... YUM YUM!! This day I arrived as they were just opening and I was the first sandwich of the day. Lou's was my last pit stop before I hit I-75 south headed back to my Queen City. So, I did the unthinkable... I put my sandwich in the trunk to travel 10 hours on the highway. And, believe it or not, yes, it made it back without me pulling over on the side of the road or a rest stop to dig in! It would have never traveled safely up front in the car with me! But oh, when I arrived home, it was on... and I enjoyed every delicious morsel for two days! Yes, two days... did I mention there's always so much corned beef on my sandwich that I purchase an extra onion roll to make a second hearty sandwich the next day? DELISH!! My sandwich is ALWAYS pretty fantastic and never much of a wait. When you're in the area, you must stop in and check them out. I know it's a must-have for me whenever I'm in the city, especially when I can kick back with my feet up to enjoy!! The Bread Basket and Wheat 'n Rye are pretty tasty too, but Lou's is SIMPLY THE BEST!! Thanks for the tradition and the memories!!

Just checked out Lou's for the first time last night- I stopped in to pick up sandwiches for myself and my husband on the way home from work- I ordered a Roselawn and a Dave's Drip to be exact. The sandwiches were $8 and $10 respectively... but they were pretty fantastic. I didn't have to wait much more than 5 minutes for my sandwiches, and service was friendly. Even though I made a pitstop on my way home- they were still super yummy when we finally got to dig in. I was never a huge corned beef fan, but this stuff is delicious. My husband thought I was being a sketchball when I told him I was bringing home a mystery dinner- but he was satisfied too. Yay! Wish I had known to try dessert.

I have to laugh about one of the reviewers commenting that the decor is not inviting. This is Detroit fool! It's all about the Counterman's Treat. I think the onion roll at Stackerz is better, but this is a better all around sandwich. I wish Dallas had more delis like this.

Counterman's Treat is a nice twist on a Rueben. LOTS of corned beef, tasty Russian dressing, and my favorite, all piled on top an onion roll! On downside, a bit expensive considering it was $9 for a sandwich and a pickle, no sides or drink.

Was traveling through Detroit and found this local establishment. After doing a little research on Yelp, it turns out that corned beef sandwiches are a specialty of Detroiters, so I felt compelled to try it out. I ordered the Counterman's Special, a corned beef sandwich on a soft roll with cole slaw... it was a slightly messy yet deliciously guilty pleasure. I can see why many locals love Lou's.

40 years ago, I used to be a regular with fond memories at Lou's Deli on 6 mile in Detroit. My son who lives in Cincinnati says there aren't any good Delis there. So I thought Lou's would be a good choice and we were not disappointed. By far they have the best corned beef around. Its juicy, delicious and not salty. It's better than Star and Stage. It's not in the best neighborhood but it's a bit of heaven and well worth the risk.

So you may have read my review on the Lou's Deli on 6 Mile and thought, geez! wish there was one closer to my suburban neighborhood. Well, here it is! I actually don't come up here quite as often as I frequent the other, but I actually like this Greenfield location better because of the neighborhood. It's in a shopping plaza area, so you'll probably see the Rite-Aid before you see it. The food is good. Definitely check out the corned beef options and the also have sub options (cheese steak hoagie or simple B.L.T) as well. Prices are moderate, costing roughly $7-8 for a sandwich, but it's definitely a better option then eating McDonald's all the time.

When I was a carnivore I loved Lou's Deli. I prefer calling my orders in because they can be brutally slow. On a good day if you prefer to order when you get there it's about a 10-15 minute wait. Other than that the food is pretty decent but the dessert kicks butt. You have your choice of triple chocolate cake, lemon cake, 7up cream cake and banana pudding. You can dine in but most people don't. Sandwiches are one of those food items that you usually want to enjoy at the crib while watching television.

Pretty good corned beef, portion size was great. A touch on the pricey side at $11.50 with fries and soda, but I was satisfied, for sure. I'm an eastsider, but will return next time I'm in the area.
