I really like Chipotle for a fast food and typically go to the one on Orchard lake in west bloomfield. This time I was much closer to this location and went in there to get a carry out. I wish I just drove to Orchard Lake... 1. I had to tell the guy what I want 3 times because he was not listening at all and kept asking what I wanted... (Chicken quesadilla and naked burrito with cilantro lime rice) He managed to ask me 3rd time which rice I wanted... 2. The cashier charged for 2 sides I did not order- it comes with the burrito but I asked for it on the side. 3. The cashier obviously did not know what she was doing and did not do a refund. I ordered another chicken quesadilla and asked that she just deducts that from the order. That was not done either and she said "you are all set". Needless to say, I was pissed but trying to be nice as I got the impression the girl was new. They also did not cut quesadillas. I might be comparing it to another location that has employees with more experience, but I will not be coming to this one again. My husband, whose office is only 2 miles away from it, drives to the Telegraph location because he had bad experiences with this location which included hair in his food. I wish I listed to him and had not gone to this location. They need to focus on training their staff better.

Who doesn't love Chipotle! Right??? Chipotle is a perfect lunch spot. Unfortunately, I don't think I can eat here for lunch anymore. It's unfortunate that quality food could be presented the way it has been presented to me the past few times I have purchased from this Chipotle. The past couple times I have picked up food from Chipotle it has been the burrito bowl. Each time it has been half full and below room temperature. It's unfortunate because I cannot even heat it up due to the lettuce and sour cream. So, now I'm left eating cold half empty bowl with barely any chicken. I love Chipotle and I have experienced other locations that are much better. It is sad that this location is giving the Chipotle brand a bad name.

Got food poisoning from this location a couple hours after eating a burrito bowl. Initially I thought "no way Chipotle gave me food poisoning" but that was the only item I ate so that was the only option. Not to mention the hospital confirmed my diagnosis. Never eating chipotle again.

So seriously... this place is O-K! I would rather drive down to Southwest Detroit and embark upon authentic Mexican food. I just can not get jiggy with this place's prices.. and the food just was not the tastiest to me. It was so bland.. no matter how much sauce I applied to it... First and last time trying "ethnic" food made by a chain... :)

First let me start by saying that I LOVE Chipotle... when done right. This particular location is run by kids who don't seem to understand the value of Quality and Customer Service. Every time I visit this location, it takes an extreme amount of time to get through the line. Today, you could count no fewer than 4 people working behind the counter, but only one person (who happened to be very bad a multi-tasking) was actually filling the orders. The other 3 ladies (cashier, cook, and other order taker) were laughing a playing with each other. They did not seem to care that it took the 10 people in line 20 minutes to get their burrito. The guy who works at Pot Belly next door even told them that they were slow. Answer: "Not my fault - I didn't make your food." Any other Chipotle I have been to runs like a well-oiled machine. They should be perfectly equipped to handle a lunch or dinner rush. Today, at 5pm, they ran out of rice and the cook did not seem to care that she was holding up the line as the took an incredible amount of time mixing the rice that ended up being chunky and dry. Lastly, the food generally tastes the same at every restaurant... except here. It's sloppily put together. The Carnitas is literally chunks of meat. There is never any sauce in the Barbacoa and I do not know what is wrong with the Corn Salsa. Needless to say whenever I leave this particular establishment, I'm always feeling a bit let down by my food and service. This is a bad example of how a Chipotle should be.

I'm comparing 3 Chipotles in the area. 2 I give 5 stars and 1 ill give 3. This one I love. The service is great, the portions are generous, the decor is attractive and its clean here. They have outdoor seating during the warm months. The food is very fresh and this location is so busy they always need to keep the food coming and do it well.

  • Devon D.

I'm a big fan of chipotle, perfect fast Mexican food. However the service is terrible. This specific location is located in a busy area. The staff will see how long the line is and continue to only have one person working the line. I have certainly stood in line to see people walk right out including myself because of how slow the staff is.

I went to this location to pick up my order after waiting a line going out the door after getting to the front of the line the black lady tells me very rudely that my order is not ready and will not be ready until 3:00 I asked her why is that I ordered for 2:30 and asked if she could make it now instead she said very rudely I would have to go wait in line again after already waiting 20 minutes in line this is very upsetting I ended up leaving

This Chipotle is pretty solid considering the volume of customers they service during peak hours. I usually swing thru for take out during lunch and am in and out in under 15 minutes. The service is pretty good, sometimes they can get a lil sloppy with your burrito assembly and tear the tortilla, (Aargh - pet peeve) but the ingredients are always fresh. For as busy as they are I'll say that this is one of the better Chipotle's around Detroit... (3.5 Stars)

Burrito Bowl! Proud Chipotle addict! This is best chipotle locations in the area! Its fast food but its fast food! It's on the healthy side, the ingredients are high quality and you don't feel bad about coming over and over! Yes the lines are long but the wait is short and worth it!

  • Jeremy S.

I don't normally review places like Chipotle, because everyone knows what to expect, right? What you can expect from this one is a filthy floor, overflowing trash, and inexplicable product shortages (no burrito shells for two days in a row--for real?). I have no idea what's up here, but it would appear better management is in order. Food otherwise tastes like Chipotle. No particular complaints there.

I love Chipotle, but this location is not my favorite. I have tried it by visiting during lunch and by ordering ahead online for pick-up. I usually have the same order; a burrito bowl with lime and cilantro white rice, black beans, chicken, fajita vegetables, lettuce, tomato, corn salsa, mild salsa, light cheese, light sour cream, and light guacamole. When I visit other locations, I could get two, sometimes three, meals out of the bowl. When I come here, I can barely get one. They don't put in nearly enough of the requested items in the order. I counted a total of 5 pieces of chicken once, which is sad. The store runs efficiently. There are plenty of people working behind the counter and each have their own job to make the ordering and check out move quickly. The tables and bathrooms are also very clean. Rarely do we see a table that is left with food/mess all over it. We frequent this location for convenience during our lunch. I wonder if the servings change at a less busy time during the day. Either way, I don't think I'd come here if it wasn't close by.

Lunch is always good. They run out of chicken meat on the line pretty often but they are fairly fast at getting it back up and running. 1130 on there is always a line. It is clean and friendly.

Those guys made me look like a liar when I said that I didn't get double guac . The guy put me half a scoop of guac and I asked him to put the normal amount they had to charge for double guac .

  • Alyson H.

Make sure to get here early for lunch. Line is always out the door. With that said- they move you through quickly and the food is always great. Nice seating area outside also.

Slowest service ever.workers are as slow as molasses waited 20 minutes before leaving-hire more workers!

  • Heather S.

I love their food, with all the fresh and natural ingredients they have, but the girl behind the counter at this location made me feel like I was bothering her...no hello, no smile, she made every annoyed face she could make short of rolling her eyes. Kind-if embarrassing as I talked up the place to my boyfriend's 84 year old father as we headed there, after his suggestion of finding a decently-priced Mexican joint...which it is, don't get me wrong, you can't beat a giant burrito that could take at least two days to eat for $6.25. I just can't stand when shoddy customer service like the kind we received from this lady puts a damper on all that is good about a restaurant...I'll stick to the one in Royal Oak, at least they don't make you feel like they wish you hadn't stepped foot in the place.

  • Maia K.

I love Chipotle. But this location is so slow! They never have enough people working and the line is always back to the door. They need to become more efficient.

Super fast and fresh. I love this place. They have great flavors and you can customize how much spice and heat your want to eat. They also offer healthy options as well so any group can eat here. the prices are low as well

This location didnt have any chicken prepped so while the store was empty, it filled up because we're waiting on chicken.

Great food. Long wait every time I'm here, but not as long as the Telegraph Chipotle.

I am not a huge Chipotle fan normally, but today's visit confirmed my original review - Chipotle is decent, but not great. I ordered the bowl with pork. I like pork, but this pork was lackluster. A little more flavor would go a long way towards my satisfaction. The place was clean, the employees were pleasant enough, but not overly pleasant, but they were on the border. They really could have offered a little more personality. The chips were waaaaaaaay too salty. In fact, some chips were 50% covered with kosher salt crystals. That really changes the mood when you eat a salty chip and there is nothing to get that overly-salty taste out of your mouth. Overall, I should picked up dinner from somewhere else. Next time I am going to El Ray Tacqueri in southwest Detroit. Sure, I have to drive 15 miles to get some good food, but at least it taste like something!

I am willing to travel for Chipotle because I love the food so much. I've gone out of my way 3 times to hit this location. 2 of the times I was shorted on meat. This last time I had more than 6 large bites (half) into my burrito before I got a piece of steak. All rice burrito isn't the same... I highly recommend Chipotle but I won't return to this location again. Looks like I'll have to make the longer trip to Rochester!

Good place to eat on lunch. Sometimes very slow but depending upon when you go you can get in and out fast. Not many things to pick from since I'm used to Qdoba.

Worse service ever! Slow and incompetent. I walked in right when it opened at 11am. Looked at the guacamole and clearly it was from yesterday and not sealed properly. All brown and old looking. Asked for new Guac and the cashier tried to tell me that is fresh and it's brown because the weather is cold outside. Uhhhhh negative. Took literally 10 mins for them to change out the old Guac. Dinning tables were still dirty. How could that be if it just opened? Would never come back to this location.

There carnitas or barbacoa are always amazing. They have tons of flavor and spice while staying lean meats. This is a good location for all the business buildings and hotels.

So I didn't think Chipotle was all that until I tried the burrito bowl with steak! I think my picture says it all. Y-U-M!! The best part is that nothing is every frozen and the beat is antibiotic free!!

  • Rob B.

This place is pretty good. The ingredients are almost always fresh, although one time I did get old rice. The speed of service is very fast; however the selection is limited to just burritos and tacos. I like the beef barbacoa burrito w/extra hot sauce. And give me a cold beer with that too! Yes, they serve brews!

I heart Chipotle! I never thought I would fall in love with a chain but after having watched the owner and founder of Chipotle on the Oprah Winfrey Show and hearing his philosophy on food and then tasting the goods - I'm sold! Others consider the food pricey but for what you get in quality and ingredients its worth it. Especially if you're health conscious. While Qdoba may be down the street so is a heart attack. Qdoba is owned by the McDonalds Corporation and the amount of sodium in Qdoba's dishes is more than your sodium intake for the day in some cases The service at Chipotle has always been great. The tables have been clean when I decided to dine in and the food was - as always - delicious. Portions are always enough for me to have left overs for the next day too! I pretty much like everything on the menu. My favorite - chicken taco's (crunchy shells). Mm mm good!

Normally I love Chipotle.. but today was a different story. I went in for lunch. There was a long line of customers waiting to get served. Unfortunately the cashier was having issues with getting one customer checked out. This took about 15-20 minutes. Keep in mind I'm on lunch and have limited time to eat and the line is now out the door. Once I had my opportunity to get waited on, no-one apologized for the wait or thanked me for waiting. This was really bad customer service on their part. Very DISAPPOINTING..

Alas, Chipotle, my relationship with you is much like the relationship between James Read and Patrick Swayze* in the miniseries North and South--a house divided. I respect what you're doing and there's a certain comfort in knowing that when I visit my parentals in Minneapolis there's always a decent burrito around the corner. And it's weird to think of some of the cities that you offer the best burrito in (LA, j'accuse). I like that your chicken is anti-biotic free, that your black beans are grown right around the corner, that all your ingredients are generally so fresh. But there's one missing ingredient in your offerings that usually lead to great burritos--love. Everything is technically superior, like a Steely Dan song. But there's something missing that ties it together. *I'm now tipping out a portion of my tea in memory of you, Patrick Swayze. Wolverines!

Chipotle is doing great things for the "corporate burrito." Yes, it is pricey -- but aren't you worth it? The ingredients are fresh, many are organic, and the portions are very generous. Black beans are grown here in Michigan (Let's keep it local!) and supplied to stores across the country:) For the conscientious burrito lover, this is the place. I know a young man that lost over 100lbs eating one Chipotle burrito a day -- and little more. A real life "jared."

Right across the street from Southfield Civic Center / Police station. One $6 item should fill you up. Two will make you wonder why you ordered that much food. Portions are generous. Unlike typical Mexican restaurants, they use interesting spices to create really tasty dishes. I was very pleased. Decor is techno-industrial. Staff was pleasant and quick. Menu is limited, but each dish is made as you watch and customize, so there's room for LOTS of variety. Nice patio seating during good weather.

I love the food, the freshness and the taste is truly authentic. Bahia style mexican is so much better then tex-mex. For a fast food chain it's hands down the best out there. All natural, almost organic but the best thing about the food is, IT'S FEEL GOOD FOOD. Keep it Chipotle. :)

  • John N.

Although I would like to see a little more variety in the menu, it's hard to top Chipotle for chain Mexican take-out. Take heed if you order online, this particular location seems to work ahead on their orders which can lead to soggy food when you go to pick it up.

    (4)
  • Ronald v.

The food is OK, I guess, but the chips are a hit or miss. I've had stale chips here a couple of times. Recently they've been better. Burrito's are pretty good. I'm not a big fan of their decor, although I think it seems very well thought out and matched. There is no Mexican/Southwestern influence to find and it's rather clinical. I'd rather go to Qdoba down the street.

  • Mel B.

when i first started to come to this location everything was great but lately i feel like the meat in my tacos is all rubbery gross. i think i would rather go to Taco Bell at this point until that rubber meat is gone! people are nice though on the weekends, at night they kind of give u a look when u ask for extra lettuce

    (2)
  • Heather G.

I was not an insta-fan BUT I gave it a second and third try and I must say, I love it. The burritos are (just like all other similar places like Qdoba) ridiculous. They are huge, messy, and the size/layering means you get a mouthful of guac or rice but not a tasty combination of everything. But enough of that complaining, there are other things on the menu and this review is about those things. Namely, the burrito bols (their cheesy ass spelling, not mine). They are awesome! They are also huge, but they make for good leftovers. For about $7 (I added some chips) I had enough to eat two meals. Muy bien:)

While I feel a little funny reviewing a chain restaurant, I must forge on as my new found love won't be denied. Oh, the burrito bowl from Chipotle Mexican Grill.....it has become my knight in shining foil. My reaction to the deliciousness is almost Pavlovian as I scurry to my car with my paper bag in hand. The simple ingredients of rice, beans, grilled vegetables, steak, and corn salsa combine to produce a fiesta on my tongue. While certainly not carb or calorie conscious, it's definitely worth the extra hour on the treadmill.

Best Chipotle I've been to. The burrito bowls are great here. Can't beat them for spicy salsa either.

It's like every other Chipotle across the country.... really good burritos with local produce at a decent price. I just felt that this one needed to be added because no place exists to me unless I can find it on Yelp! A bonus that it is within walking distance of the Westin and the Hawthorne Inn.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
