My experience at this location was horrible. I arrived to that location and I saw a man taking his food back in and I jokingly said i bet he got the wrong order and I bet that its mine. Little did I know, that was exactly what happen. I arrived to location and paid for my order at 9:12 pm. At the time there where 2 employees at the register trying to straighten out his order. The employee initially tried to pass the returned order over to me and I absolutely could not believe that they would do so (I nor them have no clue what that man did with the food when took it out the building and to his car). I told that was not acceptable and I asked if I could have my order redone. My food was finally ready around 9:25 pm but it was wrong, so I waited yet again for them to get it right. Once I finally received my order the lady who initially took the order over the phone missed one of my sauces. Wow another mess up. (Interesting...the entire time while I waiting man sitting at a table eating a salad was one of the owners because he went in the cooking area to ask them what was going one. Not once did he nor the employee apologize to me for the inconvenience.) I asked if I could have the sauce but the employee said because they didn't charge me for they would have to charge me. I could not believe this. All the inconvenience they cause me and I could not get 1 bbq sauce. I left out the eatery disgusted with them and how was retreated. I did read the compliant policy but after how I treated and the fact the manager on duty or owner did nothing really discouraged me.

We had their wings for a party and they were great. Look, you go here for fried chicken like you had in the old neighborhood. Sometimes that is exactly what you want, and Chicken Shack delivers. If you want haute cuisine, go elsewhere. I had the wings cold for breakfast the next morning. So go already.

It's just okay. Menu is kind of confusing. They charge extra for BBQ sauce, and if you get the roast chicken it's kind of dry without any sauce. And the sauce isn't that good either. Service not very friendly.

Not much meat on those ribs. I felt pretty cheated because the rib plate was over $20. Chicken was poorly cooked and the service was subpar. Their prices aren't cheap and on top of that, they nickel and dime you by charging extra for condiments. The owners of this place must think they're in Paris. Hello! You're in DETROIT!

I've been here several times and haven't been disappointed. I like the BBQ strips meal best since I'm not typically a fried or broached chicken guy. The potatoes are decent but can be too greasy at times. You are better to eat in than carry out... the food is just much better that way for some reason.

today after taking my mother in law to her doctors appointment, like clockwork she was hungry and wanted some broasted chicken from Chicken Shack. I don't know I guess she doesnt remember how bad it was last time. It wasn't special by a long shot. Today she bought the family lunch, again. I ordered two 5pc chicken tender dinners for myself and my wife, my sis-in-law ordered a reg 4pc chicken dinner, and my mother-in-law ordered a 12pc chicken bucket dinner. When we finally got home with the food I sorted through it all counting and figuring what was what. well the 12pc bucket was 13pcs - 3 breasts, 2 legs, 4 thighs, 4 whole wings. the whole wings were so small they were the size of my thumb, about 2inch by 2 inch. pretty darn pitiful. the dinner came with broasted potatoes and coleslaw and dinner rolls. well the potatoes were SWIMMING in grease. the Cole slaw looked more like porridge it was so finely chopped and then they topped it with something that looked like paprika. the dinner rolls were squashed white bread dinner rolls about the size of a white castle slider. and there were 2... the menu only said dinner rolls... I had assumed it meant enough rolls for 3-4 people. the chicken although cooked all the way was not very flavorful. if it wasn't for the grease it was sitting in from the broasted potatoes the chicken would of been dry as a bone. as like the 12pc dinner... the 4pc chicken dinner and the two 5pc chicken tender dinners the rest of us ordered were not much better. small pieces that might be adequate for a 5yr old. and nearly tasteless food that was swimming in grease. I used 6 paper towel sheets to soak up all the grease from the potatoes from my dinner. I tried to be proactive and took some alka seltzer just in case. I am not claiming it, but I have a feeling in a couple days I'll likely be paying for this food by running to the restroom.

Let's start by saying my first job was working for a Chicken Shack spinoff for four years... I know the ins and outs of this type of restaurant. The Southfield location - only a year old - is pretty glamorous for a Shack. The restaurant is decked out like it is meant to be a bistro or coffee shop, then the lingering broaster smell and grease-that-never-leaves-the-table reminds you where you really are. The lunch menu is also priced well - almost a dozen combinations available for $5. Everybody loves broasted potatoes (expect me - the whole "working with the food" thing killed it for me) so that's what sold my office on getting lunch there. My two vices: The Friday lunch rush is always a little messy... people expect food as fast as a fast food place (but the chicken takes at least 10 minutes to cook, I know this) so this delay clogs the take-out area. Whatever, I called ahead. The food still took 10 minutes on top of the 15 minutes I gave it in the call-ahead order. Eh. Another 'eh' point - I was told I couldn't have tomatoes added to my chicken sandwich because they don't carry them, even though there are sandwiches WITH tomatoes on them in the online menu. #FAIL.

Food decent, find it rude that employees vacuum while customers are still in the lobby on their cell phones!

Memorial Day 2014 - The Chicken Shack is a family started business over 50 years ago, the broasted chicken is well cooked, crispy and juice. The ribs are ok, but are over priced. The sides are very generic overall 3 out of 10. The chicken overall is 7 out of 10, the only chicken product I would not order again is the wing ding, they're the smallest wing ding I've ever seen in 40 years. The major problem with this location, is the extremely poor customer service from the staff. The store needs "Customer Service" training.
