We stayed here for a few nights and had a wonderful time. Stayed in The Orleans and it was perfect. I personally love a firm mattress- slept great. Breakfast was excellent. These fellas have so much class. I cannot imagine someone having a bad time here. We will be back!

We stayed for three nights in the Tuscany cabin right before Memorial Day. The cabin itself was "homey," with a gas fireplace that came in handy given the outdoor temps in the 40s. Everything was clean and well-maintained, and the area was nice and quiet (yet perfectly located for walking around town!). The owners are super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. We will definitely be back!

Spent a wonderful weekend in the Tuscany Cottage with my partner. The cottage was pleasing with all the amenities we expected and hoped for. We were pleasantly surprised with the fireplace and the daily breakfasts of fresh fruit and homemade muffins. The location of Hidden Gardens is perfect and is close to awesome shops and restaurants. With that, however it still maintained a private and secluded feel. We also appreciated the innkeepers who greeted us enthusiastically and were always friendly and willing to offer assistance.

So beautiful and cozy! Its a home away from home. Hidden Garden is walking distance to shops, restaurants, bar, etc. Phil's restaurant is great, Wicks Park bar and grill is a couple blocks away and is amszing! Breakfast is stocked in your fridgethe day before. We stayed in Kilimanjaro suite both times we were there. Beautiful room, huge tub, kitchenette, fireplace...We had a relaxing stay!

My wife and i were on the great American adventure through western Michigan. We road tripped through many wonderful areas and had a marvelous time. We had done extensive research on the Saugatuck area and it was going to be a lynchpin stop for us.Great art, restaurants and use of the waterfront were tops on our list but we wanted convenient, yet great accommodations. We chose Hidden Gardens and could not have been more pleased with our choice. It is centrally located in the heart of the Saugatuck art and entertainment district. Jonathan and his partner Gary are fantastic hosts. Local information was right on the kitchen counters and Jonathan made sure we did not miss a thing. We stayed in the San Juan suite. It was spacious, clean as a hospital, and decorated in a fashion that had us planning a trip to San Juan Puerto Rico in the near future. The breakfast was in your fridge each day and was tasty and actually healthy! A pleasant departure form many breakfasts. The bathroom was spacious and the showers hot (a barometer i use on boutique hotels) We loved it. We stayed three days and after parking my truck we never needed to move it again. Saugatuck is right there for you just steps away from Hidden Gardens. We will be back for sure. One note ...book well in advance for summer dates. It may be called "hidden gardens" but it is certainly not a secret to those of us wanting to visit beautiful Saugatuck.

My husband and I stayed in the San Juan suite for 2 nights. The room was clean and well decorated with plenty of souvenirs from the innkeepers' travels. Gary and Jonathon were kind and accommodating. This is right at the edge of downtown Saugatuck, it's perfect for a stroll around the waterfront, and for visiting all of the adorable little shops downtown. Gary delivers a cute little basket of goodies (continental breakfast) to your room in the afternoon to enjoy the next day. It includes orange juice, milk, fresh fruit, and baked goods. Popcorn and candies are also provided for snacking. New couches in the living room would be a nice addition to the suite, as they are on the smaller side and getting a big worn. But I would say that is far from a formal complaint. We had an amazing time here and would definitely return.

My husband booked this place for Valentines day and took me to Saugatuck over the weekend. We were surprised to see how wonderful this place was. Each room is designed differently and everything is so well thought of. We only met Jonathan this time and hopefully will meet Gary next time we go there. Will be back for sure and highly recommended. Walking distance to Uncommon Ground Cafe and also to Butler street where you have some shops and cafes around.

Stayed in the Kilimanjaro Suite and it was fantastic. Right in the middle of downtown but still very quiet. Owners are very welcoming and the rooms are fantastic. Very spacious with great beds, bathroom and little dining area. We also thoroughly enjoyed a few drinks on the lovely front porch. Will definitely stay here again.

My boyfriend and I are from the Chicago suburbs and had a weekend getaway in Saugatuck/Douglas MI in July of 2011. We stayed at the Hidden Garden Cottages for three nights, in their Orleans Cottage. PROS: Location, location, location. You can't beat it. It is in the middle of town and within walking distance to everything. The gardens are darling. The proprietors were kind and helpful, including an in-room binder with tons of information on the area. The Orleans Cottage is the smallest, but its size is sufficient. It features a queen bed, fireplace, stereo, flat screen TV, DVD player, free wi-fi, whirlpool tub, and a kitchenette. It also has its own small porch with a view of the gardens, which is one of the perks of this establishment. Breakfast is left by the proprietors in your room's refrigerator and includes cereals, muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, milk, teas and coffee. When you are ready in the morning, you just put everything together and warm it up in your room's microwave, toaster oven or coffee maker and enjoy your breakfast in your room or on your porch. That is a fantastic setup: Very private and convenient. For the most privacy, the Tuscany Cottage is its own separate, small building. All the other suites and the Orleans Cottage are connected to the main building where the proprietors reside. It was very quiet the whole time we were there. CONS: The decor is a bit dated (mauve wallpaper borders, hunter's green carpet). It should be noted that I am a neat freak, but cleanliness could have been better. I didn't take a bath in the whirlpool tub because the mat at the bottom of it was not clean enough for my comfort. Though the towels looked new, the sheets looked like they'd seen better days. The room was definitely clean, but these few details were lacking. The shower got lukewarm at best. The mattress was hard as a rock. Another con is parking, but this is true wherever you go in downtown Saugatuck, so be warned. Overall we had a quiet, pleasant stay and plan to go back, though this time we would like to try the larger and even more private Tuscany Cottage. While in Saugatuck/Douglas, for dinner try Phil's, Everyday People (if you can get in!), Wild Dog Grille and The Belvedere. For a fantastic facial, see Peggy at Waterfront Day Spa. Tour the Keewatin Ship and take the Star of Saugatuck paddle boat ride down the Kalamazoo River & out to Lake Michigan. And shop til your heart's content. There are a ton of cute boutiques, and during the high tourist season they are open until late, late at night. It's a safe, fun, lovely area for a weekend getaway.

My wife and I have been to Saugatuck now 4 times in the past 2 years and it has become our favorite spot in Michigan. Each visit we have stayed at the Hidden Garden and are never disappointed! Tucked away on Butler - the main street in town - so you are walking distance to everything and feel very isolated. We have stayed in the Tuscany suite in the summer and the San Juan room in the winter. Rooms are beautiful and very spacious - HUGE two person whirlpools, fireplaces and comfy beds. The San Juan Suite is on the 2nd floor of the Inn, and has a full kitchen and living area. This is perfect if you visit Saugatuck in the off season, as you will not need wonderful porch the other 3 suites have to offer. The Tuscany suite is tucked away toward the back of the property and has an amazing porch to enjoy breakfast. Breakfast is continental style and delivered the night before - muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal This style is perfect for us as we can sleep late and eat on the porch of our room at leisure. The owners, Gary and Dan are extremely friendly and see to it that you are satisfied!! They have a Pillow Points, which after 6 stays you receive one night free. We travel quite a bit and love B&B's, this has become our favorite. When in Saugatuck, be sure to stay at the Hidden Garden.

My partner and I just spent the weekend here in the Orleans cottage and it was a great experience. The room was clean, the fireplace was warm and the porch had a great bistro set for eating our breakfast. At first I wasn't too fond of hearing that our breakfast was already in the refrigerator when we got there, but the food was delicious there was fruit and yogurt and plenty of other food to eat. It was also nice to be able to eat breakfast anytime we wanted to, which is usually my trouble with B&Bs. The bed was comfortable, plenty warm and there were even extra pillows. The location was great- it was right in town, yet it was quiet and relaxing in our room. I loved the binder of recommendations, menus and brochures for things to do, see and eat in town. The owners were very welcoming and available to us. It was a great , we will definitely be back.
