So we tried it... I got my usual 2 to 3 egg, multi meat meal... Sucked... The egg yolks were as white as the whites! No flavor, cold... BLEH! Also the coffee tasted like watered down Sanka... Avoid at all costs... I don't see how this place has been open so long!

This place is awful. It's no wonder it's filled with old people that have no tastebuds. Their food is horrible. They have absolutely the worst hash browns that I've ever had, bar none. The atmosphere is quaint, and it's an "everyone knows everyone" sort of place, but you don't feel out of place. You get the feeling that if you went there more than a couple of times they would know your name and everything you generally order. That said, the food isn't worth ordering. It's flat out horrible. Their has browns had no flavor, their soup looks like it's from a can, the eggs had no buttery flavor, even their breakfast meat was subpar. I stay right down the street on a great number of occasions, but I'll drive right by this joint to go somewhere else. Noni's? Red Olive? National? All better options. Heck even Travis has better food.

If you think its OK cause its a small diner you need to watch DDD. The service here is great, the people are friendly, but the food needs a lot of work, small diner is no reason to have sub par food

I've been passing this place up for a greasy spoon that old people lacking taste buds go to. But I ate here once and fell in love with their food. The place is, quite honestly, a tad grungy in that old, worn, but clean kind of way. I ordered the stuffed cabbage with rice pilaf. As a side note, you Metro Detroiters don't realize what a nice option rice pilaf is over potatoes--it's great! It's one thing I miss about the area after having moved out of state....but I digress. The pilaf was savory with nicely seasoned tomato "gravy". I also ordered the split pea soup--some of the best split pea soup I've ever had, containing lean ham and not too overly salty--the way most diners do. Oh and the prices are crazy low for the quality and quantity of food! My mom had the chicken parmesan. She let me have some, and I though that it would be really sub-par, but was honestly surprised at how savory and meaty the sauce was, and the chicken was very nicely seasoned with a light batter. The owner's wife was sitting at the counter, and gave me the evil eye when I got a little animated about the food. But being Greektalian I got to get excited a little! We'll be back!

That did it. I've gone here for years and while never 5 star it was ok. Until last night. Coming to have some comfort food for dinner sat at the counter and ordered a lamb shank dinner with rice and a salad. Everything was tasting ok, nothing special. While at the counter I was able to see into the kitchen area where I watched the cook stick his finger in the gravey of something and proceed to lick his finger. He then dished up a plate of food for someone. Bleeeck

I give four instead of three stars because my family and I (theres at least 6 total) come here every sunday after church. We know all the waitresses and they know us and what we usually order. The food is pretty simple but I think its great. My 4 year old loves two eggs over medium and they are always great and I trust them. We have pretty much tried everything on the menu and I haven't found something I don't like. (But I don't like lamb so I've never ordered it) Side note their navy bean soup is to die for!!!!

I've lived in SCS my whole life. Ive been in and out of Palmer's infrequently. My last visit I think will be My last. My table was sticky and they weren't even busy. The waitress acted like it was a chore to clean it and take my order.. I also noticed a dead fly in the window but I didn't say anything because I was tired. my night shift just ended. I wanted food and that was that. I got a breakfast pretty basic. I ordered my eggs over mediums whites done as much as possible with a little yolk left on them. HA the whites were runny and raw looking. I have bad guts and cant eat eggs like that. Its the small things that add up and ruin a place for me. Like the place is still identical as when I was a kid and it was pretty worn then now fast forward 20 years. There are to many Diners in the shores to get sick at this old place

I beg to differ. Granted not the best service but the food was decent and done just like I wanted. The staff was nice enough and I think this is just what it is. A neighborhood diner with decent food. I'll be back.

I've only eaten breakfast here and can't help but laugh at a couple other reviews I read about their food being "awful, horrible" and whatever other adjectives they pulled out of a thesaurus. I maybe don't eat breakfast out at a lot of places, but I also don't live under a rock. I'm one of those guys who would rather skip IHOP or Denny's and eat at smaller places like these because they usually offer bigger portions at better prices. Palmer's Inn is no different, and it was pretty damn solid if you ask me. I ordered the Palmer's Omelet and it was awesome, especially after I swapped mushrooms (who willingly eats mushrooms, anyway?) with broccoli. It was large, easily 3-4 eggs, and filling. The hash browns were good ...not the best I have had by any means, but certainly not the worst. The wheat toast was good, but it's hard to screw up toast. I think I paid less than $9 for the omelet, hash browns and toast -- and that's including after tip. Not too shabby for a local diner on a Saturday morning. I'd check it out before you make any assumptions.

Always past this place up till my dentist recommended it. After our first visit my wife and I were hooked. Excellent meals at great prices, large portions, great service. The smothered chicken is one of our favorites (breakfasts are great as well) most under $7.00 special at $5.25

You'll get what you expect of a diner at Palmer's -- family crowd, greasy food, and nonchalant workers. Prices are great, but the facility could use an update: markings exist from the 70s in the men's restroom. With as many diners there are in the area, you might as well just stick to your local one. Though, I'd come back if was nearby.
