update - this review is from 2009. Apparently they no longer have a restaurant I eat lunch here almost every day - getting a large fattoush salad with a side of chicken. Prices are a little on the high side ($7 for the salad and $3 for the chicken), but it is the best lunch in town that i've found. The dressing on the salad is amazing - better than pretty much any other Middle Eastern restaurant I've encountered.

The tiny 'restaurant' in the back of this grocery store is no longer open. They still make some items, but they are now located in a self-serve refrigerator, a alas, they no longer have my beloved fattoush.

Yasmeens= The only place you'll find Mediterranean food in Saginaw. They have a good selection of groceries. I find the prices on their olives and feta cheese from the coolers are very reasonable, as well as the pita bread...it comes from Detroit and is fresh and freezes well. I also buy a lot of the harder to find Greek/Mediterranean spices here, as well as falafel mixes. Much better tasting and priced than anything you'll find at Meijer's. The deli however, is a little more high priced for what you get. Their taboulli and baba ghanouj are fantastic, but a bit pricey for the quantity of food. I still buy it anyways, because it's so tasty and there is no alternative here in Saginaw. They come with Mediterranean pickles and pickled beets on the side, which are also super tasty. I did try a wrap once, and I wasn't really impressed. It was a falafel wrap, and was really dry. I stay away from them now. The guy who owns the place is very nice. His wife isn't as friendly, though.

This is a nicely laid-out, spacious Mediterranean grocery, with a frozen section, hookahs and tobacco in the back, various teas, nougats, spices, canned fava beans, stuffed grape leaves, and jugs of olive oil and other interesting edible oils. The staff is very friendly and helpful and health-conscious. Good prices; I picked up a box of Turkish delight, and a couple of various nougats/bars and it was about $7. The marshmallow crisp rice treats are vegetarian (the marshmallows are made with agar) and quite tasty; I'll be stocking up. The deli in the back is "Huba's Hut" which I'm reviewing separately.

I went on a slow Saturday, so the deli wasn't open. But the woman at the counter was very helpful, directing me to the deli and the refrigerated take-out. When I told her that I'd never had a meat pie, she offered to heat them for me. I obliged-and they are so good! They even have glass Fanta and Coke bottles. Very nice place to pick up good, quick Greek food. Great place to get good, fresh Greek food whenever you get the craving. And they're not outrageously priced, either.
