Great place. Bartenders are sharp and take pride in their work. Good beer selection that changes often. Dark, comfy decor with a speakeasy feel. If you want a great cocktail, put yourself in Jason or Matt's hands and you will not be disappointed. The best thing about Mac's, though, is the people. The entire staff is great, which has made it our watering hole of choice when we're in the 'Naw.

By far the worst service I've ever had. I cannot comment on the food because it never arrived, maybe if the bartender, server and "chef" would've stopped socializing with each other I could. The "chef" actually "F" bombed from the kitchen so many times the waitress screamed shut up. My experience was much worse than what I can describe but I will say this, I WILL NEVER GO BACK! Side note: we left and went to Retro Rocks and my husband and I had amazing service, food and drinks.

I've been to Mac's three times now and every time the cocktails have been well executed and tasted great. The atmosphere was great; dark & cozy. On the other hand (the reason for the 3 stars), the service was incredibly slow. Two of us were sitting at the bar when it had at most seven people in it and the two bartenders walked past us multiple times before taking out drink orders. We were never checked on and had to ask for a second round. We finally left due to the slow service. While craft cocktails take longer to prepare, the wait time was beyond an acceptable timeline. The prices were a bit on the high side. The prices were more in line with Ann Arbor/Metro Detroit craft cocktail places, not Saginaw. Despite the slow service that hasn't improved, the cocktails & atmosphere make up for it. This place is a great addition to Old Town Saginaw and something different from the rest of the market.

This is the place to get a quality cocktail in Saginaw. I recommend sitting at the bar and having a conversation with the bartenders. They will tell you everything you need to know about the beverage you are thinking about trying. If you're unsure of what you want to try, no problem. Trust the bartenders and tell them to make you something different. This is the only establishment in Saginaw to get a hand-crafted cocktail. Recently, they started doing lunch and dinner.

I went to Mac's a few weeks ago for Sunday Brunch with the Great Lakes/Bay Supper Club, a foodie club that meets at a different locally-owned restaurant each month. I was very excited about Mac's after reading/hearing the rave reviews coming from every corner of the Saginaw area. Upon entering the joint, I was immediately struck by the atmosphere, loved the bartenders in vests and shirtsleeves, dark wood floors and bar and giant windows overlooking Michigan Ave. The bloody mary bar has some interesting treats to add to your cocktail and the brunch menu is small (waffles, french toast, eggs, potatoes, various breakfast meat) but everything on it is done well. I got chicken and waffles, something I've always wanted to try but have never ordered anywhere else and it was delicious. The breading on the chicken was light and crispy on the same time. Chef Lonnie boasted that each piece is hand breaded in her own recipe and it shows. If it weren't for the service, this would be a 5-star review. We sat for a long time without menus or drinks. When we finally did get menus, it was the chef who gave them to us. I had to go up to the bar to ask for a second drink, our server never checked on us and the few times he did interact with us he seemed extremely annoyed and surly. I get it, we were a big party on a busy day, loud, and possibly a bit obnoxious, but I think you'd grin and bear it just for the potential tips that come out of a group like this. Overall, I'd say Mac's is a 5 for food and atmosphere and a 3 at best for service. I'll definitely go back to try out some of the craft cocktails and nightly dinner specials and I hope to be able to sample each and every one of the 270 bourbons they have behind the bar. Hopefully the service improves drastically by then.

Went here last night for the first time to celebrate my friends birthday. Makes me wish I lived there. I love this bar!! Joel the bartender is super nice, awesome, and really knows how to make his drinks! The bar itself is cool as well. Has some history behind it and the bathrooms are so pretty and purple! There was hairspray and other stuff in there I can't remember. When I am in the area this is a must!

One of a kind, prices are a little high but you can not find better quality anywhere else. Really cool atmosphere, the old depression era vibe, great food. The drinks, nobody else comes even close. My pick for best bar anywhere.

This place is great! Good service, great drinks, and awesome food! Who puts pepper jelly, on a burger, which is on a pretzel bun? They do and it's freakin' awesome! I would almost move back to Saginaw for that burger :) The chef is awesome and quite the personality. She even came out to the table to talk an make sure the food was good. Oh and you can buy her pepper jelly! In love and will begging back every time I'm in town!

I really want to give four stars here. Love the atmosphere, the crowd. Great bartenders. Just have had trouble with one bartender named Matt. Real nice guy, just takes lots of smoke breaks and his service is painfully slow. I've waited a minimum of ten minutes to receive my first drink, and a maximum of nearly 25 minutes. And don't get me started on food orders! He works often, so I've all but avoided meeting friends there. That being said, the other bartenders are amazing. Great personalities, great mixers, make you feel welcomed, and are relatively prompt. The kitchen staff are the best. Very friendly, and the food is very good. Tastes like the dishes I make at home, just way better.

Everyone in Saginaw should patronize Mac's. There's a lot of positives to be said, a true classic cocktail bar in old town Saginaw. With real cocktails blowing up in popularity in big cities, it's great that old town with all it's spirit history has a place of its own. The decor/ambiance is nice. It has a classy post prohibition era look (complete with mustachioed bartender!). Perfect dim lighting. I admit i found the inclusion of Keno to be a bit of head scratcher, but I'm nitpicking. When I looked at the cocktail menu I was encouraged to find a strong choice of manly and little fufu classic cocktails and my choices didn't let down! Both cocktails I had were whiskey based and strong and well balanced. The bar tender was knowledgeable with any questions I posed (not that I grilled him). I didn't have beer, but they had some good Michigan beers available. I give 4.5 stars on drink availability. Prices were $9 for a cocktail of the cocktail menu, which is comparable to Detroit/Ann Arbor prices. Most Saginaw bars offer a good $1 cheaper compared to and equivalent downstate drink, but the drinks were of good quality, so I don't consider price to be a negative. We didn't get food, but it looked good. Now for the breaker that brought my rating down: I've been to a number of great craft cocktail bars in the state (The Last Word, Ravens Club, The Oakland). Going to a cocktail bar, drinks always take longer due to the steps needed to concoct the cocktail. It justifies a 15 minute wait when a place has a good amount of patrons. When we were there, it was about 9pm and we were 1 of 3 groups. Most others were just getting beer. When my cocktail was gone I went a good 10 minutes waiting for someone to ask me for another, I would probably be annoyed by that wait in a busy place, but the place was practically empty and the bar tenders were busy stocking or socializing with other patrons and I felt ignored at the times when I wanted service. To give the bartenders benefit of the doubt, we were the weird kids in the corner, so it required effort to keep up on us. When I finished my 2nd drink, I was ready for another, but I just sat there. Finally I had to walk to up to the other end of room just to request my tab. Our group could have had 2 more drinks per person in the time we waited for them to swing by. They probably lost $40-50 in our business based on the fact the 2 bartenders weren't paying attention to our empty glasses. In summary, I'll definitely try this place again. we didn't try the food or beer but it looked good. The cocktails were well made and strong. The bartenders just needed to try harder to keep our glasses full.

I've waited for a long time for a bar like this in Saginaw. The atmosphere is outstanding, and the staff are so down-to-earth and friendly. You have to visit this place for dinner or just for drinks. The chef is very creative with limited kitchen facilities. Only thing that would make it better is a patio out front, but the sidewalk doesn't provide much space for one.

This place is nice with unique drinks and decor. Very upscale with high end liquor. I love how the bartenders dress up in suits and bow ties. This is truly a hidden gem in a misconstrued city. Will be returning with a larger group, highly recommend!
