Store has a pretty wide selection, including grocery items, supplements, personal care products (even some natural person lubricants), essential oils, frozen food, and a really wide selection of bulk goods (need to buy bentonite clay? They've got it). They have some sort of a frequent buyer program; I didn't inquire about the details. Prices seemed a bit high to me but I'm not sure what the local market will bear. I didn't try the deli as the hours are somewhat goofy, closing early a couple days a week (closes at 5:30 on Wednesdays, in any case). Deli features Boar's Head meats and a couple of vegetarian sandwich options, thoughtfully marked with a carrot on the blackboard listing your options. Indoor seating available.

I bought the wrong type of peppermint oil and went back to exchange it the next day. The lady said to come back tomorrow to discuss it with someone else because she was new. So for the third time I went to the store and the employee who sold me the oil in the first place said I couldn't return it because it was a non-sealed product. I'm not complaining about that policy as much as I'm complaining about the stores non-desire to keep a satisied customer. So, now I have an oil I cannot use and have to buy more (which they offered to order for me $$$). No thanks. This is not a business run on keeping customers, but one that's short-sited. I am very loyal to companies that try to help. As for the oil, I'm going to order it off ebay now.

This is an EXCELLENT place to buy your natural, organic, and green living products from! The employees were helpful and curtious. The selection is really great, and the prices are very fair! I compared a few of their prices to the same products at Meijer, and Discount Health Foods beat the Meijer price on almost all of the products I looked at! They have everything from biodegradable laundry detergent to gluten-free bread. There is also a really nice little deli located right inside that has really great sandwiches and delicious looking baked goods! If you're trying to live greener in Saginaw, you must stop by the Discount Health Food store on Bay Road!

This store would never make it in a bigger city. It's ridiculously overpriced even by health food store standards - often even more than notoriously expensive Whole Foods. As others have mentioned, many products here are expired and you have to read labels carefully. Here's a little trick I learned from someone who used to work here to help you figure out how old things really are (especially helpful when the item doesn't have an expiration date per se): look at the price labels and there's a two-digit code in the upper left corner of the little yellow sticker. The first number is the month it was checked in, the second number is the last digit of the year. So if it says 82, then you know it was stocked in August of 2012. Walk around the store and pay attention to these codes and you will see just how many things are *really* out of date. It's especially bad with the packaged bulk items like yogurt-covered pretzels or oats; knowing that they were packaged as much as 6-8 months ago and they're just in ziploc baggies is pretty gross. Even if you're coming here for supplements, chances are that a lot of times they won't have what you need in stock anyway. Unless of course you're looking for the latest weight-loss fad or supplement promoted by Dr. Oz - they always have that in stock! I rarely come here anymore and either find what I need at Kroger or Meijer, take a trip down to Detroit or order items from sites like Vitacost instead. This area really needs a good health food store, but this isn't it.

They sold my wife expired "personal" products. If it wasn't for what t was and how you took them maybe it would have been ok for her to use. However this caused a problem and when I went back to the store after calling them, they took down all of the rest of this product and wouldn't make it right by me. I won't ever go there again! If you do make sure you check on the box for year old expiration dates!

I've only been here once, but I think I'll only return for a few products I can't find anywhere else: TVP, TSP, Organic Oats, and Not-Beef Bouillon. They have a lot of cold specialty vegetarian/vegan options but I didn't purchase them on my trip. They have a HUGE selection of specialty vitamins, supplements and personal products, but I don't think I'll be purchasing them here if I have a special discount at another store.

This place is great. I come here every time I'm in from out of town (Chicago) because its the closest thing to a Whole Food's in the area. I'm never let down. I have a gluten allergy and they have a great selection here as well as accommodations for people with allergies in the deli! I haven't been able to find a gluten free sandwich, that I didn't have to make myself, ANYWHERE around here until now. Totes excited!!!!!!!!!! :)
