Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Chens USED to be my favorite restaurant but the past couple of times we've went in there the restrooms have been nasty/dirty! They have great cooks and a great staff, but after trying to use the restroom it gives you second thoughts on eating there. Very sad, because this was by far the best restaurant choice in Saginaw.

I like the food, there is a lot to choose from. The ice tea tastes a little funny so get something else for a beverage. Staff is ok, most are friendly. The parking always looks packed but there is more on the back side.

This is your average Chinese Buffet. The staff was very polite, and the selection was good, but the taste was nothing special. I am giving it 3 stars because at the end of the day all it is, is a bunch of slop. The sushi was the high point, and I considered that mediocre at best. You really can't beat the price, it was $62.00 including a 20% tip, for 7 people during lunch hour on a Saturday.

Is there really no choice in Saginaw for a good Mongolian grill? I cannot see why everyone compares Chens to BDs, there is no comparison when BDs is one of worst choices anywhere. That is a different tangent. Chens is decently priced for all you care to enjoy, nothing to make it special in any way. You get the rudeness and disinterest you get from any Chinese buffet plus the added lack of service that you might expect from paying at the door. I am told that I will be returning to Chens at some point, and I am ready for round two.

this place wasn't worth it to be honest, the salad bar was small , the meat bar looked small, there wasn't much help from the staff for someone who never been there before, plus for the price paid you could have had better service at a bd's Mongolian bbq and a better selection,

For cheap eats, you can't beat this Chinese lunch buffet for $7! The pepper chicken is REALLY good. The grilled tilapia is also good. They also have a hibachi grill if that's what you're in the mood for.

It's not that bad. It's pretty fairly priced for what they have to offer. You really can't expect much more from a joint in Saginaw. So yeah, it's not bad. I would recommend them for a quick meal I suppose.

The food on the buffet is pretty bad. Overly sweet, old, a lot of the fried stuff is burnt. There's some dried up chicken filets, cheap frozen pizza, and no-bake cheesecake. The desserts are horrible - stale generic cookies, brownies that taste like brown styrofoam, and the worst soft-serve ice cream in town. Thank you McDonalds for setting the bar so high with your creamy soft-serve that actually tastes like it might have some milk or cream in it. The only saving grace is the sushi bar and the cook-to-order grill. The sushi is more on par with the stuff at Kroger than the stuff at Genji or Hello Sushi. It's not great but it's not terrible and you can eat all you want. The worst part is the atmosphere, your typical buffet crowd. I'd rather take my $10 to Hunan or Forbidden City or Jade Garden or China City or....

This is the better of the two Chen's in the area. The one in Bay City is significantly smaller, especially the Mongolian grill portion. My only complaint is that the Saginaw location does not have scallops or steak for the Mongolian grill, but the Bay City location does, which my husband and I prefer in our stir fry. We went on a weekend so the food was getting changed out pretty regularly and was hot and fresh. The crab rangoons are good, and I like their lo mein as well. The staff was very friendly, and the buffet is priced very competitively.

No I am not a complainer, I am visiting my family in saginaw, we went here because my mom heard it was good.......word of mouth. So my mom, my 2 children and my self went in. How ironic I used to be a waitress here when it was Chi Chis restaurant and was the place to go! Wow, the paint is still from when I worked there in 1985. What a broken down mess....that was from the entry. Once onside I felt like it had the vibe of an old cafeteria. I prepaid with a generous tip......and off we went to the buffet. Everything looked old and gooey, but, iI thought something would be great. Wow was I wrong. My daughter took a bite out of spring roll...she said it did not taste like a spring roll. I took a taste...said ..not so good...my mom took a bite...ehh, not so good. My son did not taste it. The three of us got real sick! Stomach sickness ..uggggghhh. my daughter got sick almost immediatly . My mom made it to the car..me later in the day! Yes it was cheap...but, oh my goodness....NEVER AGAIN!

I can't really see what's so special about this place. I've been here a few times. It's huge, and there are a lot of buffet tables, but nothing that really blows my mind. I'm skeptical about the grill; I've never gotten anything out of it that I really like. I'm a good cook at home, but if I'm just throwing a bunch of random things together to be cooked at once, it doesn't turn out how I like. Everything else is pretty 'meh'. Kind of overpriced too in my opinion. The cheesecake is pretty good, but I don't go to a Chinese place for cheesecake. Too much American-fare in my opinion. But I guess you have to be able to please everyone. Needless to say, I only go here if my party begs.

As usual, this site is full of elitist complainers. This is Saginaw, get over it. This place is pretty good for the area. We're not in New York City or Las Vegas. I love the Mongolian Grill and the sushi. Very happy with this buffet.

I think some of these reviews are too harsh. It isn't a rediculously priced gourmet restaurant. It is clean, wait staff is friendly and helpful. The food is good quality. I love the crab cheese ragoon, and the mongolian grill is outstanding. Keep up the good work.

Great restaurant for your money. $10 gives you 20 different preparations of chicken, etc. The Mongolian grill is great. Just be sure not to pour the sauce directly on your uncooked ingredients. The chefs hate that because the food will burn and the stove top will char. Can order steak cooked any way you like. Included in the price. Chicken: My favorites are the peanut butter chicken and honey mustard. Outside of the grill, Chen's has everything you'd expect at a chinese buffet.

After gutting and renovating the bygone Chi Chi's on Bay Rd., it's clear that Chan's Mongolian Grill decided that nothing replaces bland inauthentic Mexican food like bland inauthentic Chinese food. Chan's Mongolian Grill is nothing more than a sad tribute to Midwest American gluttony. A standard warmed over buffet filled with deep fried delicacies that could clog even a walrus's arteries in mere seconds, Chan's Mongolian Grill is lackluster even by the lowest of standards set by the mom and pop Chinese buffet outfits that have popped up in strip malls and abandoned chain restaurants all over the Midwest for the last 15-20 years. The Mongolian grill was simply a standard flat top grill that could be found at Great Steak & Potato Company in a mall food court. There was a meager selection of sauces to be had, barely a handful, topped with industrial sized selections of McCormick spices that were snagged at the nearest Sam's Club. The area in front of the counter to submit your dish is so crowded, you feel like you're rounding the last turn at Churchill Downs, jockeying for position as you run into fellow patrons hoping to get their food cooked next. Good luck getting your plate back any time soon. I stood for close to 15 minutes waiting on my plate to be returned. If you're a vegetarian or vegan, good luck. The only veg option on the buffet was the lo mein. Everything else was slathered in meat or cooked in meat and the salad bar was pathetic. Iceberg lettuce and leftover mushrooms aren't the most appetizing of ingredients. We were readily fearful of how our food was prepared on the grill. It wasn't cooked with others steaks and seafood, but being next door neighbors to the dead flesh was disquieting enough. I will not be returning to this establishment any time soon, and will encourage others not to visit it.

Decent Chinese buffet. If you are really craving some Chinese buffet, then go here, but warning -- not too often! Their interior is pretty upscale compared to other Chinese buffets in the area -- specifically better lighting and atmosphere than others. Not too loud including the fact that you could typically find 10+ parties here on a weekday. Although I find it extremely weird that when my friend and I got there, one of the waitresses put us in a completely different area/room than everybody. I mean, we were surrounded by 15 empty tables while the party was on the other side :( Can't complain though. A room to yourself is nice. Okay, enough with the atmosphere. The food here is what you would find in a typical Chinese buffet with some added random foods. The main attraction would probably be the grill where you can choose from a decent selection of vegetables, noodles, sauces, meats, and spices. I think there's around 6-8 types of meat. You bring it all to the chef, and they grill it in 2 minutes (maybe less). The downside at the buffet is that the sushi isn't too banging. I'm also skeptical of their food. My chicken kabob was dripping neon yellow liquid, and my egg drop soup was the same neon color. Not too tasty, but I'm not extremely picky. Otherwise, Chen's is probably one of the best Chinese buffets in Saginaw. The waitresses/chefs are generally nice, and it was a nice experience for me. Lunch on a weekday is $6.99, with drink it will probably run you ~$8.50. Just choose your dishes wisely.

I was expecting BD's and I got Chen's instead. I should have known better. Overall it was OK, but nothing great. The "Mongolian BBQ" was a regular burger grill not the circular grill in the middle of the restaurant. Food was alright but limited choices as far as ingredients and sauces. It's only 11 bones for unlimited dinner and a drink so I can't complain.

I'm sure this is a saginaw branch of the location in the bay city mall, so if you've been there you know about the chicken/pork/steak/shrimp/scallops from the grill that are part of the buffet. The saginaw location also has this along with a larger buffet and an actual mongolian section. To be honest I did not care a lot for most buffet items. They ranged from ok to not so great. However, every dish I've had cooked up on the mongolian grill has been fantastic. They don't have a huge selection as it is one place trying to do two things but they have the basics you need to build your own great dish. A lot of people seem to have a hard time following the directions of forming a line on the left and putting your sauce in a cup. Please don't be one of those idiots.

Well, first of all -- it's Chen's, not Chan's. This place has good food at amazing prices. When I went there, the buffet food was perfectly acceptable for the most part. The grill area is a bit small, but the dishes that are served there are really tasty.
