Quiet Friendly Neighborhood Restaurant If you're staying by DTW and tired of the hotel restaurants and Leonardo's (also very good), you should try the Orchard Grove Inn a few minutes south. It is a quiet friendly neighborhood restaurant about 5 miles south of the airport/I-94 on Middlebelt Road, out in the country. It is an older establishment that is very popular with the locals but there are a few business travelers there too. They are closed by 9:00 so don't plan for a late meal there. The food is traditional American fare with a nice selection of fried and broiled seafood and grilled chicken and steaks, all served with fries or potatoes (sorry, no veggies). They are famous for their perch and I agree. It was as good as any perch I've had anywhere. Other reviewers mentioned the whitefish, but they were out on my trip, so I'll be sure to try that the next time I'm in town.

LOVE this place! Drove past it for years and finally stopped about a month ago on a Friday night. It's like stepping into a time warp! The decor is not updated but I love it...it's part of the charm. Not a huge place but we didn't mind waiting (and we only waited about 10 minutes) as we were able to sit at the bar. Joe, the bartender (and I believe he is also the owner) made us the best drinks! We have said several times since then that we need to stop in one night just to sit at the bar and have a drink. Service was fantastic (we've been twice now and had different servers and we were well taken care of both times) and the food was incredible. I've had their perch and their salmon and both were delicious. My husband raved about their lamb chops. And do not skip dessert...the hot fudge cookie sundae was to die for. They are a bit pricey but in my opinion, you get what you pay for. I can't wait to go back.

The best perch ever every time I go there. This is a great family owned place that is well worth the trip.

I live in Plymouth and if I ask my wife were she would like to go to dinner, that is one of her favorite places. I like the perch dinner, she likes the fish and chips. Family owned and operated, they are very nice people.

They have excellent food!!! I have driven by this restaurant for many years going back and forth to work. We decided to try it one night. I can't wait to go back! I had the Pacific White Fish and my boyfriend had Mahi Mahi and it was the best fish we have had. Service was excellent and you get a little veggie tray before your meal. Very good!!!

This restaurant was suggested to me by a friend so went there and had the perch. Was good and the fries that came with it were good with Malt Vinegar. The one thing I noticed, though, was that everything was the same color on the plate. The fish looked like it could be cooked a little more even though it was done to satisfaction. The service was good and friendly but the one drawback was the moldy, damp smell of the restaurant that was noticed as soon as we entered. I will try it again but they really need to do something about the smell.

I've been coming here for years, and what can I say--this is one of my favorite places. Family owned & operated, everyone here is treated like family. The food is outstanding--my favorite is the fresh lake perch, and I love it with a salad topped with homemade basil vinaigrette. Don't even get me started on the desserts--the fresh cream puffs are something I can't resist!

French onion soup was good. The shrimp cocktail is pretty big. The salad was second rate, with cheap blue cheese dressing, the fish itself was decent, but it's all fried fish. May try again at a later time.
