Great spot that is right near the airport. Good beer selection and you get a ton of food for the price. Will definitely be back. Pros: large portions, value, hand patty hamburgers, dressings made in house Cons: server was very busy but super nice, crowded at dinner time.

The food here is pretty good, and excellent considering where it is. Service is pretty friendly and decent. My only complaint is that its a small place and they get pretty busy. There isn't a lot of elbow room between tables. I've eaten here on two separate occasions (the first I had delivered to my room at the Holiday Inn) and the second I ate at the restaurant. Both the burger and the club sandwich were done well and plenty of food. If you're a beer drinker it could be for you as they serve primarily Michigan craft beer. I will be back on my next trip.

Just finished here... alright. I guess you pay what you pay and get your money's worth. Service seems busy as our waitress had our entire section, which consisted of about 15 tables. She did her best, no doubt; she was nearly running. I got the Bleu Burger, you really cannot go wrong with this one. It was 8.95 and included some coleslaw and steak fries, both of which were so so. The fries were a bit soft and mushy... needed a few extra minutes. The burger was pretty tasty, but wasn't what I ordered... it was medium instead of medium-rare. I even asked our server if she recommended the medium-rare and she said yes... disappointing. Overall, it's alright. Cheap prices so like I said, you get what you pay for. We are in the area so we may return for a fast easy burger or sandwich. Maybe I'll ask for something else next time. I recommend but don't try the burgers, or just expect anything other than medium.

Wow. I ordered the fried chicken club with fries, while husband had The Monster (a burger between grilled cheese sandwiches instead of a bun). Wow. We had them delivered to our room at the La Quinta, expecting so-so, soggy food - but it was fresh and crisp and very tasty! If you need good, fresh food with a fair price and fabulous flavor, this is the place to go.

Got stuck in Detroit due to a flight cancellation. It was almost 9pm, I was starving and it was one of the only spots that delivered. So I got the cajun combo with a side of broccoli... The food arrived FAST and tasted HORRIBLE! They asked how I wanted my steak cooked as if it would be made according to my preference (med-rare) the meat looked and tasted as if it had been cooked well the day before and re-heated... inedible, really. My side of broccoli was like 6 pieces of way overcooked mush, a small pool of water with garlic pieces that werent enough to save the mush. I cant speak for the in-dining experience but I wouldnt recommend my worst enemy go here...

I'm based out of DTW and 99.5% of the time this is my go to bar/restaurant when I commute in the day/night before work. I usually sit at the bar and have been served by all of the bartenders at least once. They're always friendly, efficient and keep my glass full usually without me having to ask, a couple of them even know me by name. When the bar has been full and I must sit at a table the wait staff here is excellent. The food is always on point and I can say that I've never had a dish here that I didn't like. The food is reasonably priced and the drinks cheap with friendly people and great service which will always keep me coming back.

Stayed in the Springhill down the road and the selection of restaurants around here is terrible. Was recommended to Merriman by the hotel staff. Had the Shrimp Rockefeller, salad, and calamari. Salad was okay, shrimp was overcooked but the Rockefeller was good overall. Calamari was very good and definitely made in the restaurant unlike the frozen stuff you get at other places.

Update on my previous review. This time I ordered the same thing, the Michigan salad. However, instead of getting it delivered, I went to eat at the restaurant. This was Merriman's shot at redemption. This time around the chicken was worse. It was not hot and in strips. It was cold and diced. AND, once again, they forgot to put the blue cheese on! Obviously last time wasn't a fluke. They must make errors on orders often. Maybe next time they will redeem themselves.....

I called Merriman at 11:49pm just after checking in to my hotel and they were still able to take our order for delivery. My girlfriend ordered the Michigan salad with no cheese and raspberry vinaigrette dressing on the side because she's lactose intolerant. I ordered a side of veggies, steamed without butter or oil or anything instead of stir-fried, and a side of fries because of my numerous dietary restrictions. Our food arrived perfectly to order and quicker than they estimated it would (right to our hotel room too)! We were both exceptionally pleased with our first meal in Michigan and would definitely return if we're ever in town again.

Getting dinner at five pm because going from place to place makes you hunger! There was several Of restaurant located in this area..but why not try this place out...this place serves bar typed food and grilled items... I got the beer battered mushrooms for the appetizer and the grill salmon with corn and baked potatoes on the side... The food was ok... Just not that great to me... The beer battered mushrooms was crispy and was served with tartar sauce... The mushrooms was seasoned well...but my fish was a somewhat dry...so was the big potato on the side...And the small plater of corn from a can ...you can't really mess that up right ?? People that worked there was friendly....I loved the booth I was seated at .. I get to see the whole restaurant...without turing or moving...nice! There is a huge parking lot!

Good food, brew selection. Great place to hang before flying out of Detroit airport or have a bite to eat.

Not sure how often I will be staying over in Detroit but I do know I have to find a place for lunch tomorrow before I leave. Took me for ever to figure out what I wanted. Not because it's a huge menu, but there are so many items that looked great. Had the Saganaki for an app. He scared me when he brought it out, when the menu says flamed with bourbon, didn't realize it was table side. Then he puts it out with a squeezed lemon. I can't describe it, but the taste was excellent. Spend the extra .75 to get the pitas. Awesome. Also had the South of the Border Burger, cooked and seasoned perfectly. I'm a huge cheese fan but nothing beats guacamole on a burger, so much better than cheese. Then the beer, 1-3 normal generic beers, 25+ local beers. That's supporting your local state, way to go. Plus the stouts were excellent. Looking forward to lunch tomorrow...

Decided to try this joint again . Much to my dismay . The server was sweet , albeit clueless . I sat in an elevated booth in the bar . I ordered the 12oz sirloin ( which I have had before ) . Decent . My entree arrived w/ a bad baked potato . Sent it back . Got a prompt replacement . The corn (veggie of the day ) was full of peppers ; which I hate . Just wish the server would 've givin' a better description . The steak was so full of gristle it was barely chew-able . To top it off ... Three booths behind me were at least three employees or friends of the managers , playing videos on their cel-phones at FULL VOLUME ! I politely asked for a manager and lo and behold ... Who shows up , but the guy playing the videos with his friends and sitting in the bar area ! He was very apologetic . I told him that the experience was very disruptful and rude ,I only paid for my wine . Thank goodness . Probably won't be back . I try to support local joints instead of chains .

Casual, somewhat dated atmosphere. Seating at bar for food service if you are alone. Excellent bottled beer selection. Friendly staff. Large menu. I had fish and chips. Good size portion, but a little too greasy for my liking. My husband had a crazy monster burger thing that he thought was delicious! Fries are average. Friend had fish tacos and he liked them. Appeared to be a lot of airport/airline employees eating there. It's located very conveniently for people staying in one of the hotels near the airport. Clearly most of their patrons are travelers since the waitress asked us where we were off to. Probably won't go back because I don't live nearby. We were meeting out of town friends who had a long layover.

Merriman Street Grill is a "stranded traveler's" dream. They were willing to deliver just one entree directly to my hotel room, which was greatly appreciated. When your only choice seems like hotel room service, a restaurant willing to deliver one meal is worth a million bucks. Aside from their willingness to deliver to travelers, their food was amazing! The chicken parmesan was delicious and was clearly a homemade dish. It was cheesy and wonderful!!! It was much more food than I was able to eat for dinner, so it will make for a perfect breakfast too! The food was delivered hot and in perfect condition. The staff were very friendly, and made for a pleasant dinning-out experience. If I am ever in the area again, I will absolutely go back to the Merriman Street Grill.

Right near DTW Airport. I thought this was going to be a hidden gem based on the reviews I read but it is well discovered by the locals. It was odd to see so many locals in a restaurant right near the airport and hotels. But no issues there. The booth was comfortable and the beer selection was moderate. They start you out with a large basket of bread and breadsticks. Looked very good but since I am eating mostly Paleo these days, I did not try it. I had the stir fry chicken with all vegetables. I asked for extra veggies in place of the rice. I think I got the normal portion - otherwise, the normal portion would be very view veggies. However they were cooked perfectly and the chicken was flavorful and moist. I also had the french onion soup. Not the best but serviceable. I hate here with a co-worker. He had a chicken piccatta and the portion was pretty big. He could not finish it. Two entrees, the soup and a couple of beers amounted to $45 including tax and tip. Not bad. Give this place a try if you are staying near DTW.

One of my favorite places in the area. Would have given five stars if they had more variety for vegetarians.

    (4)
  • Andrew A.

I liked this place. It's by the airport hotels so if you get stuck overnight and end up in taking the hotel shuttle it's in walking distance. The food service and local craft beer they recommended were all great. Next time I'm in the area I'll stop by.

  • Michael D.

Family friendly local favorite with a small bar. Try the bohemian sunrise cocktail -- yummy! If you like taco bell nachos you'll LOVE these very generous with lots of tender ground beef if you want "authentic mexican" not so much. We were staying the night at the next door holiday inn express. We LOVED it Would definitely eat here again!

  • Scott E.

Friendly, with a fairly impressive local beer list. I had the 50/50 burger (half ground beef, half ground bacon) which was different and good. I was not asked how I wanted it cooked; food safety would suggest medium well or further, and it came out a very juicy medium well, which I know can be a tough target to hit, particularly with mix-n-match meats. The fries were mostly good, a few soggy and a few overcooked, but mostly striking a good balance in between. I'm pretty sure the breadsticks were prepack something, not impressive, but good-enough for what they were (quasi-free appetizer). The sliced bread they came with was fresh and tasty. Considering the rarity with which you get bread with meals in the $10-15 range any more, I have a hard time knocking it. All in all, typical bar food in a place with an old-timey bar feel, at typical bar food prices. A welcome break from airport food--better than fast food but cheaper and less froufrou than gourmet. Don't let the strip-mall location put you off too much.

I've never heard of this place before but I saw the reviews in Yelp. It sounded like a good bet so I went there to try it. I tried the French onion soup and the pasta gorgonzola. The soup was like dish water with large chunks of onion in it . The meat in with the pasta was so bad I could not possibly chew it. I don't think I have ever had meat that tough before. Beside the fact that it was impossible to chew, nothing about it tasted good. I cannot say how disappointed I was. I can't imagine ever wanting to go back there again.

I was slightly cranky and irritated after spending 16 hours at DTW trying to get home. Found myself in a hotel on a distressed passenger voucher and, come to find out, this restaurant keeps menus in the Comfort Inn lobby and delivers to the room for only a $2.00 fee. I called and said, in a fashion far more laced with profanity than will be allowable by Yelp, "I am exhausted and airlines are displeasing. I am a vegetarian. I am starving. Here is my room number." In 15 minutes I had an incredibly, incredibly delicious angelhair pasta with a lemon garlic sauce and artichoke hearts, bread and butter, and a salad that far exceeded my expectations. That pasta was the best meal I've had in a week. Thank you thank you thank you.

  • Scott B.

It's kind of my fault. I should have calibrated my expectations a bit and known that a place that features sandwiches, burgers, cajun, mexican, and italian not to mention a 14oz ribeye for $15 wasn't going to meet the expectations that the yelp ratings lead to. Pros: it was walking distance from my hotel the beer selection is fantastic and features a wide variety of Michigan breweries service was very good the blackbottom pie was excellent Cons: they brought A-1 with my steak. And it needed it. the fries were soggy the veggie side (corn) was from a can Bottom line is that this place is a convenient choice for somebody looking for a quick meal, but the quality of food leaves a lot to be desired.

  • Harold D.

Just ok Not the cleanest place, located close to the airport so convenient location, when the bar counter was wiped down the rag had a string Oder of bleach and decomposing food. They have a large menu from Greek to Cajun Mexican Italian and American. We split a large Greek salad which was a generous portion and loads of feta the highlight of the meal, our first course of fried cheese saganaki came next along with French onion soup ( yes I forgot to mention French) which lacked croutons and cheese and tasted like over salted beef stock, then came pork chops also ok. Not expensive good service that's all I can say about that place and will not be going back EVER. One final comment my wife did not enjoy her warm cosmopolitan.

  • Sandy A.

The bar area was pretty, clean, and like ANY OTHER bar area. However, if you're looking for something unique, try the restaurant! Everything from the sports bar/horse photo/nautical/hotel curtain and wall border motif to the sub-par food and pleasant view of the floor sweepers, ripped carpet and dirty fake plants and trees makes this truly an experience. Oh yeah, the food came out fast and my noodles were cooked right. Too bad I had to pay $44 for that. Day 2: I changed from 2 stars to 1. My son got food poisoning. :(

  • Emily S.

This place was amazing! I stayed at the Fairfield Inn and they delivered hot food and champagne right to my door. The food came in less than thirty minutes. I got delicious french onion soup that was still hot, appetizer potato skins with tons of bacon and cheese - only got three but they were very big. Then I got the fettuccine Alfredo primavera - so loaded with veggies. It was delicious. Not to heavy and super fresh. Definitely would eat there or order delivery again!

  • Melisa S.

This place was recommended by the hotel and by Yelp...because I made sure that if the hotel was telling us it was good, that Yelp was also saying the same. And believe the hype...this place is very good! We went for lunch (it was after 1) and had two kids with us. The servers were fantastic and fast. They were getting us a highchair before we even asked! The decor reminds me of an older pub but it was clean and the prices and sizes of the lunch items were excellent. All three adults were satisfied and full after our meal. The kids liked the true bread sticks (think large sesame stick) and I think the adults did too.

I ate here three times during a recent stay in Detroit. As they are close to about 6 hotels, you would think they could survive on mediocre food and service because of the convenience factor. On the contrary, the food and service were great! The menu is large, and I was apprehensive that the quality would be poor. I tried a different item each night and all were served by friendly staff in quick fashion. The taste and portion size were good also. Make sure you try the french onion soup!

Needed to grab a bite but didn't want to eat at the hotel. This place was near by so we swung in here while we waited for my brother's flight to arrive. I got a salad, Mr. G got the BBQ ribs and we shared some Orings. I was hoping for awesome and have to say it was ok nothing spectacular but wasn't horrible either. Staff was friendly and the food came out without much of a wait. Place was clean that's all I got.

Considering the shortage of great eateries near the airport (or general area) - I think Merriman Grill deserves some positive. I do need to go back and sample more items to give a more thorough review - but I trust my instincts and I certainly have fared much worse. I actually frequented Merriman Grill by happenstance; visiting family who happened to be staying nearby the night before they left out of DTW to go out of state. True - it does look like a strip mall and isn't exceptional from the outside but it does have a "rustic" feel on the inside and had an upbeat and warm atmosphere. The nice thing about it too; the location is within walking distance of a few hotels and if you are staying overnight to catch a flight - this is a place you can go without much hassle. What I recall is the place was just booming busy. Which is nice to see for any business (even for those I might now always personally support). Granted - it was a Friday night. Again - the atmosphere was upbeat and seemed to be a lot of people were enjoying themselves. I had my son with me and I wasn't particularly looking to have a meal (I had eaten late in the day and was not overly hungry). But being with family and having him with me (he wanted something) I did dabble in the food We did have some beer (shared a pitcher to be exact). That hit the spot. I tried the Classic Club and felt it was a really good sandwich. It looked great and had the taste to support it. Nice balance across items and just appetizing in general. My relaxed hunger might otherwise influenced me - but I would say it is a healthy portion size as well. Not extreme - but a solid sandwich for what you are paying for (and when you purchase a sandwich at a restaurant that tends to be what I'm looking at along with flavor). The funny thing is that my son ordered some "kids" meal chicken strips and you could tell these were not out of a Meijer package. He didn't eat all of it and I tried a few. They were small bites - but tasty with a nice battered outside, pure white meat. I'm not going to try and tell you they aren't manufactured - but you could have fooled me. For a kids meal (and we have all seen that trash) it wasn't the typical garbage. I really felt they made them onsite - or at the very least - to order with more care than standard. Service was perfectly fine. It was busy - so you have to except that. But the staff was quick and efficient for us. My only pure negative might be the size of the restaurant compared to number of patrons (it did get a bit cramped because it was so busy). But that doesn't necessarily turn me off - I'm more concerned about quality of food. I think it warrants another trip to experience other items and broaden the perspective. Anyone looking for a place to dine can certainly do A LOT worse - especially around these parts.

Visited this place at the recommendation of the Hilton Garden Inn and what a great recommendation it was! We started with the flaming cheese appetizer. Opa! It was fun and tasted great! My entree was the classic club with fries and a house salad with ranch. Excellent! The salad was fresh and cold and the ranch was delicious. The club sandwich was stacked tall with turkey and ham and all the fixins. It's a lot to eat! Fries were crispy and hot. My co-workers got the 50/50 burger with fries, the black & blue burger with fries, and a chicken pasta dish (can't remember exactly). Everyone raved over their food! Then we shared the black bottom pie. Oh em gee! One of the best desserts I've had in a while. Service was outstanding and the price was quite a bargain. Even the house merlot and house Chardonnay were great with tall pours! If you're near the airport and looking for a great local place to grab dinner, don't pass this up! I believe they deliver to the surrounding hotels, too (including wine).

Good place and open late. Very friendly and efficient service. Wings were OK, not great. A couple Mexican items were better than expected. Local perch tacos-fish was quite tasty. Beans seemed to be from a can, rice wasn't seasoned that much. Fajitas-chicken was good, condiments a little underwhelming. Onion soup was better than expected, quite tasty.

This place is at least 4.5*. Great food, great beer list, great service. Traveled in for 2-days and feel like I missed out my first one because I usually stick to the higher rated places. This place is underrated and will be back!

Cajun chicken Caesar salad is pretty decent, and you can purchase high gravity beers to go, but my dinner bread was served in a coffee filter. Definitely a weird choice for decoration.

    (3)
  • Cory J.

Had the chicken cesar salad and it was pretty good, though let's be honest it's hard to screw up a salad. They have a great selection of local beers on bottle, unfortunately they don't have a very good draft selection, that may be more a statement on local brewers than this bar. If you are staying near the airport. I would recommend it, it's right next to the holiday inn express.

Our waitress was friendly and attentive. My friend and I split the Munchies Medley, an appetizer with BBQ wings, deep fried onion string-like things, and fried mushrooms. Everything was tasty and well prepared. In fact, I ordered more wings. Will definitely be back.

I overnight in hotels all the time and find this little place quaint and just right. Sat at the bar and had service right away. Very nice staff and the food was good. Had an awesome bowl of French onion soup and the cheese app. Very timely and felt at home. I will return next time I end my trip in DTW. Cheers!

We stopped in here for a few drinks before heading to sleep for the night at a local hotel. The servers are really friendly and the drinks were great. We had amazing service all around, though we didnt get to sample any of the food. And they have KENO!

You ever see that episode of Family Guy where they feed Stewie the generic corn flakes? Terry the Tiger announces "They'reeeeee food!" Yeah thats kinda the way it is here. It's food. Edible food. Bland, uninspired food. I can't say anything too bad about it but it is the very definition of meh, plentiful and ok in a pinch. Service was friendly and prompt, especially for after 8 on a Sunday. Carafes of extra pop were brought. The breadsticks in the bread basket were fresh and crunchy, the butter was even soft in the packets. Prices were fair. It was without a doubt unmemorable beyond that. I had chicken piccata over angel hair. I was absolutely ravenous so I ate it up. I was also on a quest for some flavor, any damn flavor. Artichokes, ummm I love those. Capers, yep those too. Lemon, check. The chicken was grilled and in juicy strips. I just could not actually taste anything. Butter sauce was actually kinda like pasta water. The french onion soup that preceded it was not much better but at least it had the definitive taste of onion on its side. Not stellar by any means but there was an actual flavor. My husband started with tasteless iceberg with extremely gloppy ranch dressing. The tomatoes were a bit mealy (in July) but the cucumbers worked. He ate about a third of it before throwing in the towel. His two enchiladas were edible but the rice that came with was an odd funfetti veggie rice concoction (read- bland) that totally did not go with enchiladas. He pretty much ate the two smallish enchiladas and left two towering portions of rice that made up most of his platter. Kind of a waste. We will not be back. Maybe we ordered wrong. I don't care. It just was not working for us on any level. We will not be back.

Wife, myself, and our 11 and 7 year old children came for dinner June 14, 2014. French dip, chicken fingers, and steak fries were good. The first but he ordered medium rare came back medium well, to well done. The second one was cooked perfectly, was a high quality ground chuck, fresh bun, and generous cheddar cheese. Even through those wonderful high quality ingredients the burger was salted so thick my daughter would not eat it. I choked it down because I was afraid of what might happen to my meal sending it back again. Either completely amateur chef with no taste buds or TO'ed cook serving up a complaint burger. Service was present but inattentive.

What a great find while staying at an airport hotel. This place was very close to my hotel next to DTW the front desk clerk recommended. Very warm comfortable decor. The staff was attentive, expereinced, and well trained. This is not a 5 star stuffy place, but probably one of the best 'bar menus' I've seen in a long time. I sat at the gave just the right amount of attention while keepimg evryone at the bar and the table servers gettign their drinks quickly and well poured. The kitchen was putting out really nice looking dishes and prices were very reasonable. I had one of the specials of the night - a NY Strip and sides fro $14.75! Nice cut of meat and grilled exactly how i asked for it - it was a BIG 12oz. I'd go back when staying near DTW again.

This is a surprisingly decent place. While I would be TEMPTED to drive here from Ann Arbor because of the dearth of decent eating places in AA, it is just way too far (i.e. not THAT good). However, if you get delayed or arrive late into DTW this restaurant is open really late, the food is served hot, tastes good and their staff go the extra. simple fare but perfect for a tired, weary taveller and only 2 miles or less from the airport

I was hopeful reading the reviews but it wasn't a good meal. The only difference between here and Picadilly was I had a waitress. The salmon, which was the special, was undersized, dry and not enough dill sauce. The baked potato wasn't. At least the corn was good. The service was good and I was greeted coming in and leaving, but the food was pedestrian at best.

I'm torn, it deserves 4.5 stars! This is clearly a neighborhood favorite, all I saw was "Panthers" t shirts, must be the local high school. For $15 I got a tuna steak dinner, seared perfectly, with a potato, creamed corn and a salad. It takes a good chef to sear well, he or she did an excellent job. The tuna was quite big as well. My dinner companion had a caesar salad with a steak on top. He said it was good, and he ate it all. We had excellent service, I dropped my keys, silver wear and then a butter packet, before I could get them someone grabbed them for me each time. Excellent service. This place was busy like a Friday night. We went to watch the NBA playoffs which we couldn't watch at the hotel here by DTW. This restaurant is walking distance from the Sheraton all on Merriman by airport. This place would have gotten 5 stars if the vegetable wasn't creamed corn. Perhaps I should have made it 5 stars anyways. Excellent food and service. Quick as well.

Disappointing and gross. I assume the only reason they are in business is because of their location. I ordered the Shrimp Newburg and found that my shrimp had not been properly cleaned and their digestive tract and fecal matter were still intact. If a chef isn't willing to properly clean the seafood why would you even have this dish on the menu? I sent it back and ordered the nachos instead, deciding to avoid any other seafood just in case. The owner (I assume, since he didn't introduce himself) barely looked me in the eye as he delivered the nacho platter and muttered an apology. He then spent the rest of his time counting money at the register and casting sideways glances at us from across the bar. The nachos were equally disappointing. The chips tasted very stale and it was smothered in bad 1990s fake nacho cheese. The only kind word I have for this place is that they have a nice selection of microbrews though they do charge a premium for these. If you must go here I suggest grabbing a beer and then heading next door for some delicious pizza, or Chinese food.

Went there while staying over for a flight the next am. I was suspect, it is a strip mall. Had the cheeseburger with bacon..awesome! Great service at the bar , reminded me of Jersey..called me honey. Definitely a good stop.

Big, juicy burger, with lots of cheese oozing out of a soft, sweet bun. No wonder it's the most requested last meal on death row. So I've heard. But rather than commit a capital crime, you can get it next time you are looking to make the most of a long layover at Detroit Metro Airport. The Merriman Street Grill 's burger really has no room for improvement. Mine must have been a half pound, dripping with cheese, served with steak fries and cole slaw. I couldn't finish. A third of it went out in box. And what a deal! It was $7.75 for the entrée. The Sierra Nevada on tap cost $4. I could even leave a $3 tip and feel generous! Service was super. The food arrived so quick I couldn't even finish a magazine article. The place even has free Wifi! I wish there were places like this near me, near San Francisco. Oh, wait, there are. They just charge twice as much. The Merriman Grill is the best deal for unpretentious, good American food near the Detroit Metro Airport - without having to sink to the fast food chains. You won't leave hungry and you won't go broke. Give it a go - you can watch the Tigers play and have a beer, too. I think my only (minor) complaint was the music. Rock music from the '80s in Detroit just seems sad.

Solid place that has good food and cold beer. Nothing special, but considering the prices and selection, not bad at all. I would go back.

I must have come on an off day. Everyone rants and raves about how good their chicken sandwiches are. To be honest, my Merriman sandwich was so over spiced it was unbearably salty. I had to scrape the seasoning off just to eat the thing. Service was good at first, but when the joint started to get busy, our waitress go into the weeds which got us neglected. One waitress and one bartender is not enough to run a lunch crowd. With other establishments around, I will try somewhere else next time.

We had a 5 hour layover at DTW and choose to spend $35 for a room for 4 hours at a former Hampton, now a Lexington Inn, in Romulus. Asked the desk clerk to see the carry-out menus. Three crappy pizza joints, two Chinese, and one menu from Merriman Street Grill. No mention on the paper menu that they delivered, but I called and they do. So we had a great value meal in our motel room, Swiss cheese and Mushroom burger, with fries, $7.50; I had the tilapia fish tacos with rice and beans, $12.95. With tax, ~$23 delivered. See my photos. Next stop, Amsterdam, so the cheap but wholesome food hit the spot.

Walked over to it from hotel for quick bite. Wasn't too bad. Food wasn't anything I would rave about but it was pretty good. My beer was nice and cold and the staff was attentive even though they were slammed with customers. No complaints here

I was recently stuck in Detroit for two days waiting for my flight back into NYC due to Hurricane Irene closing all the airports. I checked into a hotel by the airport and wandered down the street and found this place, not expecting too much. I sat at the bar and enjoyed some great food, awesome local beers (i'm now a huge fan of Bell's Oberon!) and great people. The bartender was extremely friendly and so were the other customers. Most of the people there seemed to be regulars coming in and out of Detroit working for the airlines. I went back the next day and experienced the same great food and service - and for the price it's a great deal. Highly recommend this place if you find yourself in the area of the Detroit airport!

I made a joke that the grilled chicken had a star by it on the menu. I thought... wow this is one of your signature items. I was shocked. It was absolutely the most flavorful chicken sandwich I've eaten! Marinated then grilled to perfection, it was juicy with a nice smoked (not charred) flavor from the grill. Paired with one of the many region beers and I was as close to heaven in Detroit as I could ever imagine being.

One of my favorite Romulus area restaurants. Cheap food, great steak, French onion soup to die for, and friendly staff. Everything I've ever eaten here was good.

I love this place. TVs line the back of the bar, and a divider separates the bar area from family dining. Several beers on tap, more in bottles. Wine by the glass. I see a lot of families gather here - grandparents and grandchildren, moms and dads. Buds getting together to watch the Tigers battle the Giants in the World Series! Tonight its noisy, but its not always that way. You can have a conversation with a friend, or read your paper in peace. Good Food! My favorite is the pasta gorgonzola. They have lunch specials and happy hour. A five minute walk from most hotels on Merriman. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Stop in. You'll be glad you did.

Stayed one night at the airport hotel before a morning flight. The hotel desk staff recommended this restaurant, 3 minutes walk away. Expecting another chain restaurant by an airport hotel, we were so surprised by the friendly staff and the variety of menu options. Kelly was our server and explained which items could be tweaked for our diet. We ordered the tuna tomato salad and the fish tacos. The tuna tomato salad was huge. The open tomato filled with tuna salad was sitting on a large plate filled with lettuce and other veggies. The dressing was also good. Each fish taco had a nice piece of fish in it and filled with mexican seasoned veggies. Kudos to Chef Mike for the awesome fish tacos. We would visit again when in a Detroit airport hotel.

This place was right next to the La Quinta Inn in stayed in. It was a Monday night, so it was quiet which suited me just fine. A nice casual atosphere, cozy and a lot nicer then a fast food joint. I had hardly eaten all day with all the flight troubles, and was staring. I ordered a bbq chicken sandwich and tried one of detroit's local beers. everything was delicious and the server was really friendly and attentive. this is a great choice if you are nearby and want a tasty inexpensive meal.

I was visiting Manchester, MI for a wedding. Wedding is for Jeff Werner (Mr.Diesel Doctor)Very nice and good person. I was trying to go and find places which are open - Merriman Street Grill was open so late at the night. They make really good Veggie Burger. I ordered for the next day to go. They prepared really custom made and fresh. Good ones. they also have Cajun Combo, Onion Batch, Soups, Salads, Mexican like Fajitas and what not. Really unique and good. They have lot of Variety. Great People to mention are Cheri Thomason,-great manager-she can be reached out at anytime. She manages in a thorough Professional manner. She takes time to respond or reciprocate even late in the evenings/night-very highly ethical, sincere Management professional. Few others to mention are : bartender is Jackie the server is Eliza & Kathy (burnette). They travel extra mile for every customer. they are on the go always. Very good people to mention for this Restaurant.

I've had a number of take out meals from here lately. My boyfriend works nearby and will bring food home if it's a late night. Every single item I've ordered so far has been great -- Greek Salad, Steak Caesar Salad, Philly Cheese Steak Sub, Wet Burrito. Gigantic proportion sizes, too. And cheap! If you are in the area, early for a flight, or craving some bar food, Merriman Street Grill is a great option.

Found this place on Yelp and I was not disappointed. Got there at 7pm and the place was packed. I figured that I would have to wait a long time, but They got my order and was served quickly. The Lemon pepper chicken was delicious and came with soup or salad, and a bread basket. can't wait to go back!

Food here is not so good - I got the baby back ribs and they were way below average. But WOW, the waitresses are incredibly good looking. Honestly, if they served dog food here I would probably come back just for the scenery.

Had tilapia tacos. Amazing and generous. My son had a burger and fries and that was excellent too. Great service as well. Could use a revamp with the decor but once we moved past the 80's family style diner look, we were really pleased.

I had just dropped off my brother at Detroit Metro Airport, and I was also waiting for a friend's flight to arrive there. I had some time to kill so I headed down Merriman road ready to stop off for a beer at the first little hole in the wall pub that I saw... Turns out it was Merriman Street Grill. As I entered I was promptly greeted by a smiling hostess, and I decided to take a seat at the bar. Initially was I going to just order a beer, but then I saw some of the tasty looking dishes that were coming out of the kitchen, so I decided to at least try an appetizer. I ordered some fried mushrooms and they were VERY good. The bar service was excellent! The middle-aged (and good looking) woman behind the bar was constantly on the move catering to every single person there as if they were a cherished friend; filling every ones drink promptly and being genuinely friendly. Overall service was fast, friendly and efficient. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who has a long layover at Metro, or just wants a clean, neighborhood bar to stop for a beer and a snack. I look forward to eating an entree next time I am there.

It's a solid diner but not winning any interior design awards. They've got a good chicken sandwich, and 4 dollar pints (try the local brew).

On recommendation from the airport hotel staff my family dined here on a Saturday night during a stop over at the Detroit airport. Our group of 9, including two children, were seated quickly. The staff was very friendly and we were pleasantly surprised by the vast international menu; Mexican, Greek, American, Italian. While nothing stood out as exceptional, the food was very good and at a great price. Would recommend this restaurant if you have a long stop over at DTW.
