This is really hard for me to rate for a few reasons. I truly believe the main reason my experience was bad was in part my fault because I was cranky in general from my really long trip, but partly because of my waitress. None of the other staff were bad. But here's my experience anyway. I had just driven 13 1/2 hours from Charleston, SC to pick my husband up from the airport in Detroit, and then drive another 2 hours to Midland. We were expecting a late night. I had 3 hours before his flight was schedule to arrive so I went to Bob Evans to sit down, check my email, have dinner. Not stay for 3 hours, but just kill some time before I maybe napped in the car. I got seated, and it was nearly 10 minutes before my waitress came over. She rushes past, stops, comes back and says, "Has anyone taken your order yet?" I told her no and she says, "Sorry, what can I get you" and I said, "I'd like a coke to drink" and she starts to walk away and since I'd been waiting all that time I already knew what I wanted. I said, "And I'd also like a regular cheeseburger, and a side salad with ranch." She brings me out my salad, no silverware. She finally brings silverware, and about 2 minutes later my burger comes out. I'm not complaining about that part, it's just not something I'm used to since I asked her for it first. But anyways - I get to my burger, and there's bacon on it. I probably on any other day wouldn't have cared, but this girl just struck me the wrong way. It was not busy, she never came to check on me or give me a refill. So I pulled the bacon off, scraped the cheese off the bacon, and ate my burger. The bun was really soggy, like it had been put on a wet plate, and the fries weren't very good - but that is my fault - it's what I ordered. She finally comes back when I have al my plates lined up at the end of the table. She asks if I want a refill. I said, "no, just the bill and a comment card." She brings me a comment card some kid scribbled all over. Then as I'm getting ready to leave, an older couple gets seated behind me. She walks up to them all perky and says, "HI. I'M JAE-LYNN. WHAT CAN I GET FOR YOU TODAY! :D" I was like, "really?!" Now I've had few problems before where because I'm alone and look young, I don't get treated as well. Not often, but there are times. I want those businesses to know to stop judging those of us who look young. I may be 21 years old, but I have the $$ to pay and tip will when I go out. when I don't have the cash, I don't go. So if I'm sitting in your restaurant and business, expect me to have the cash to give to you. I was pretty upset, and in between all of that my husband informed me they overbooked their flight, and then that the flight was delayed 4 hours. C'est la vie. So I told the manager about her, only because all the other servers were cheery and nice and polite, attentive to their guests. The manager was awesome. She said she was sorry, and offered banana bread. She offered me coffee or hot chocolate to keep me up, but I said no thank you. She was so nice and giving already, it was like I was visitor in her home! I wasn't expecting anything like that, and I can't stress how nice she was. The girl at the counter (who was also very sweet) still had my card and bill. The manager handed me back my hard and threw away my bill. I was seriously shocked. It was the nicest thing that had ever been done for me when I had a complaint, and WAY beyond what I ever would have expected! She asked me to come back next time we come through Detroit and let her know how things are going. So like I said, I don't want to rate this 1 or 2 stars because of my waitress, when I'm positive that any other night I probably would have rate it 4 or 5. However, for this visit, I'll keep it at 3, and next time I'm in Romulus, I will do a follow up. :)

absolutely horrible!!!! I've eaten bob Evans before and its nothing special but at this location the seats had an overwhelming smell of bleach or ammonia. I had French toast one side was burnt the other side looked raw. after finishing we were driving down the highway when the food poisoning set in and I had to puke out of a moving car. (quite a site for those behind me I'm sure) but yeah beyond that the service sucked food took forever (despite being the only people in the store) and I'm still not sure if I was poisoned by raw eggs or cleaning products. ..... shut this store down!

Not bad not bad. If you're hanging around the airport or the Howard Johnson next door, then this is a decent little option for you. The food is pretty good and there's good selection. Gotta love breakfast anytime! I had the chicken pot pie and it did the job.

Barley warm and old coffee. Food sat in pickup window 11 minutes and yes I timed it. Food arrived cold, eggs harder than they serve at that mcmuffin place and they were ordered over easy. One toast over done other order looked like it spent 20 seconds in the toaster and then was hosed down with melted butter. 8 year old child with us was not brought a children's menu until after we requested it twice. Had to ask for cream, had to ask for jelly. Will not return.

Although i ordered take out, the experience I had said alot about what would an in house dinning be like..... I ordered a take out to be picked up by 4pm. When I got there, I still need to wait 5-10mins till I get my order. When I first got it, I thought it was a mini early dinner set since it's inside a regular carry on bag. And the really reason, was that they forgot my main course, Black Angus Pork Steak. I called and they said it didn't show the pork steak on their part of receipt. So I went back with my receipt and they gave me my pork steak back, 5mins later, in a nice way. So back to the food review, the biscuits went great with the tomato basil soup. The soup was very rich in texture but a bit salty for me. I love the cole slaw, it's definitely something different than what I usually have, seems like it's the extra green spring onions they added. The pork steak looks a bit too brown and I thought it would be dry n over cooked but I was wrong. The pork steak was done right, fully cooked but not over cooked and juicy on the inside. Although the mushrooms are overcooked for me, they absorbed all the onion and pork steak sauce. So overall experience was not bad.

Food: I came here to eat a simple dinner before running a marathon the next day. I ordered a Smokehouse Burger with green beans and a baked potato. I had an iced tea to go with the meal. The burger was pretty good and so was everything else. The green beans tasted good with the added ham. Service: I was promptly seated when I came here for dinner. Service was nice and courteous, however was a bit slow. I didn't mind since I wasn't in a hurry anywhere. My waiter did eventually stop by and refilled my iced tea several times. He even offered another refill in a to-go cup as I was ready to check out.

Love the food and atmosphere. My husband came here by himself and had only good things to say about it. So I had to try it for myself. Came with my family for brunch. Kid friendly with a nice selection for picky eaters. I like pictures on the menu. Truly what you see is what you get. We were quickly to be seated, ordered, and served. Nice people.

This Bob Evans was fine. The food is consistent with all other Bob Evans. The service was lacking. I wanted hot sauce and a refill on my beverage but the server didn't come back until I was finished eating. I asked for a refill but she never brought it. Only when I had just paid did she offer me a "to go" cup but I was going to the airport and couldn't take it in with me.

Every visit here has been kind of a disaster. They have a friendly but rather inefficient staff. Our recent visit had both orders totally messed up. My husband got the wrong type of steak (again), they forgot one of my side dishes, both our other sides had missing or wrong items on them. When my forgotten side was brought mid meal it had the wrong gravy on it. My husband's correct type of steak was then brought out, grossly undercooked (he asked for medium and it was under rare), I then waited until the very end of the meal to get the correct mashed potato side with chicken gravy, a not so fun *dessert*. I am kind of funny. I like to eat my meals all at once. The food here is reasonably tasty but I swear every.single.Bob.Evans we attempt to dine at in the greater metro Detroit area Fs up our orders consistently. Breakfast or dinner orders, always at least two things wrong.Trust me, we are fairly basic people, serving us at a casual dining restaurant is hardly brain surgery. If not for extremely frequent buy one get one free coupons we would probably never dine at any Bob Evans. Its reasonably tasty and we do love a bargain but it has become mostly not worth the hassle.

Food was good but we were seated and then it was like they forgot we were there even tho the waiter waited on the booth next to us. The guy across from us had his order taken and brought to him before us. We waited an extremely long time before they brought us something to drink. The gal apologized for the wait said they were really busy. I looked around and there were lots of empty tables so I was confused as to why they were "so busy".

Terrible service...oh wait, no service! We were invisible. Waited 10m no acknowledgement of our presence. Other people sitting around also waiting for service. Noticed kitchen staff bringing out orders..that's trouble right there; ended up leaving, going to McDonalds instead. If you have time to burn go here...if there was a 0 star option I would have chose that. Avoid this place..

Service stinks and they are not busy. Waited 15+ minutes to get seated and we were the only ones waiting. They kept saying be with you in a minute, then apologizing for being short handed. Hostess/Cashier was frazzled.and did not know what to do first - seat us, take out orders or keep checking people out. She kept checking people out.

While IHOP is pancake specialist, Bob Evan's takes more of a fresh from the Ohio farm approach. Bob Evans' menu emphasizes breakfast meat, fresh buttermilk biscuits and egg breakfasts. Promotions included an all you can eat pancake breakfast ($4.99 and up), $6 weekday breakfasts, $5 soups, and $5 salads. They also have burgers, sandwiches, etc. It's a friendly, warm place with soft elevator music playing and a bright, contemporary look reminiscent of Panera Bread. They have various freshly baked cookies, muffins, and desserts at the register along with mixes, candy, syrup, etc. * Biscuit bowl ($6): The base was a giant rounded buttermilk biscuit (looked like a pizza crust bowl). It was topped with cheddar cheese, fresh spinach, tomatoes, scrambled eggs, chopped bacon, scallions and cheddar cheese. The eggs were tender. The bacon wasn't crispy and the abundance of bacon made the dish too salty. The worst part was the biscuit bowl. It wasn't fluffy but was unpleasantly dense and very dry. Curbside pickup and free wi-fi (ask for the password) are offered.

Review is for dinner/carry out. I went in to place a simple carry out order. They weren't busy at all when I entered. I stood at the counter, while 3, yes 3 waitresses stood there and chatted. I was hoping one of them would acknowledge my presence. No such luck. One girl did make eye contact for a second then went right back to talking. A few moments later they dispersed and went about other things. I AM STILL STANDING AT THE COUNTER. I made the mistake of asking for a carry out menu ( to look at until I was helped). No one could get me one. I was given one eventually by one the waitresses previously mentioned in the first paragraph. She then says "I saw you standing there, but wasn't sure what you wanted." REALLY?! Is this a restaurant??? Then she says " I don't work that area." Finally someone came and took my order. She wasn't friendly, and looked extremely miserable to be there. I was given my order, and went home. I wasn't expecting THE WRONG ORDER since I was the only person in line for carry out. So I called just to have the front cashier say " so what...you want to come back? Or... I then said just give me the manager. The manager is actually very nice, I feel bad that he is unable to find decent people who give GOOD customer service. I am sick of spending my money just to be treated like that. How do they think they get paid?!

Unless you live under a rock you know what to expect when you go to BE. This was a good clean restaurant with fast friendly service. A great alternative to the free hotel breakfast. Located next to the airport in the heart of the hotel / motel district.

I love bob Evan. I always eat crispy garlic bread when I go there. So as usual I ordered the same but it was way soft. It looked like they just cut the bread and poured garlic butter on it. It wasn't hot either.

This review is for Dinner only. Simply put the food is one of the tastiest in the area. I had the Chicken Noodle Deep Dish and my boyfriend had the Steak with green beans, Cesar salad, banana nut bread, and fruit cup. The serving size is a good size, the food is well seasoned and inexpensive. Spent a Lil over $20 for 2 people. Everything taste good, matter of fact the Steak taste better the second time around, it was juicier and seasoning was just right (first steak was a tad salty), than the first day he ordered the steak. On top of that, the location was very convenient. Right next to our hotel. You can't beat that! According to my boyfriend service was great, waitress was polite. Takeout was also quick. The wait wasn't long at all.

You know what I love Bob Evans? Their biscuits drizzled with honey. Scrumptious and finger licking good. We don't have a Bob Evans in Phoenix since they are predominantly located in the Midwest and Eastern states, so having one near my hotel in Romulus was a treat. Breakfast items here are cheap and I usually order just a typical breakfast which consist of eggs and hash. Another thing I love about Bob Evans is they have free refills on hot chocolate. They also have complimentary wi-fi internet connection. The honey biscuits that came with my breakfast was fabulous. I'm going to have to work out twice as hard in the gym now that I had two! Oink! Service is always pretty good here and my waitress made sure I was satisfied with my order.

Standard Bob Evans fare, diners tend to be travelers, and the food is middle of the road. Our orders were exactly as described and the waitress was very pleasant. We went for breakfast on Easter Sunday with our 1 year old. Always better then Denny's and Ihop, but not quite the greasy spoon place most of us love.

Bob Evans is Bob Evans. That being said, this one is very convenient for those staying in the hotels near DTW who don't want to eat a continental breakfast. Staff was attentive.

Elite California Yelper Ming-Jou C. gave Bob Evans (a different one) 5 stars and mentioned that a colleague loves to visit Bob Evans when he returns home to Ohio. I feel the same way, and I made a special stop at this Bob Evans, which was located near the Detroit airport. Bob Evans is a Midwestern chain (also big in the Southeast) that is best described as a country version of Denny's. Now, I'm not a big fan of Denny's, but I like Bob Evans. The service is usually pretty good and the food (especially their breakfast) is quite good with very reasonable prices. This Bob Evans (like many in the Midwest) is located right off an exit ramp in a rural part of Michigan next to a Ramada Inn. There was a huge parking lot for when they get really busy. I went around a slow time in between lunch and dinner. There were a few locals there. The exterior has that sharp red barn look to it. The decor is pretty simple--very warm and country (perhaps a little faux country because it is a chain--but the origin of this chain is quite genuine country). The seating is simple too--a bunch of booths, a bunch of tables and a bar. More Bob Evans are adopting the general store feel by selling a few knickknacks, candies and jars of their popular sauces/dressings (like barbecue sauce, honey, gravy, etc.). That is probably an effort to compete with Cracker Barrel. I saw a little note that all Bob Evans are now offering free Wi-Fi. I went their signature dish, which is sausage gravy and biscuits. You are served two buttermilk biscuits--buttery outside crust and then soft in the middle. You cut the two biscuits in half and then spoon over the sausage gravy. Biscuits and gravy does not work elsewhere. They either use that milky white gravy (with no sausage) that is quite bland (this is what Cracker Barrel uses--though I do like Cracker Barrel as a restaurant). Or the gravy is very greasy. Bob Evans gravy is very creamy and not greasy. They add ground sausage (more similar to a sausage patty than a sausage link), and the sausage adds a nice and savory pepperiness to the gravy. The dish is quite flavorful, and the one I had in Michigan was very good. I've always found their breakfast better than their dinner, but I used to like their boneless fried chicken so I went with that. The dish came with two sides. I opted for the mashed potatoes, which were good. I also opted for the sweet corn, which was fine though maybe too buttery. The chicken was different from what I remember. The chicken used to have a nice crispiness to the breading. Also, it was covered in a thick, white gravy (similar to country fried steak) that acts as a satisfying sauce. This fried chicken's breading was not that crispy and was a little too salty. The breading also fell off the chicken when I cut into it. The chicken was not dry, but it could have been more moist. No gravy on top. This may have been an anomaly, but I probably won't be ordering it again. The dish also came with rolls (which are good here), but I did not have any because I was way too full. Service was very good and quite friendly (at it always is with this place). This is the type of place where you are going to get completely genuine sayings such as "What will you have hun?" or "Will that be all sweetie?" Prices are very reasonable. Bob Evans is a chain (but a regional chain). Another negative is that many of their dishes do not feature great ingredients. Still, I usually have a good experience, and good or bad, this is a strong representation of the type of food favored and the expectations of service in this part of the country.

I flew into Detroit Tuesday afternoon. I was staying at a motel very close to Bob Evens. I was starving. A friend, I traveled with also was hungry. So we both walked over to the restaurant. I ordered the turkey dinner, just like my friend did. It showed up on my table piled high. Turkey, celery dressing. Mashed potatoes and gray. I started to dig in. First thing I noticed is how dirty everything was. Silverware was awful. Drinking glasses looked old and stained. Same with the coffee cups. Back to this pile of food. Very bland. They don't slow roast with any seasoning. No salt either. The stuffing was wet and sticky , it also had a funny taste to it also. The only good thing was the mashed potato's with this bland gravy that I pushed to the side. Now, right about now I'm telling myself there breakfast has to be better than this. Next morning I met my friend there again, to try to figure out this place. Once again, dirty everything. Coffee cups were so bad I asked for a plastic cup. I asked for the manager. Waitress said she is the manager. I couldn't believe it. I explained to her the situation with all this dirty silverware and dishes. That I'm not happy nor I'm I going to give this place a good review Breakfast came. How do you mess up scramble eggs? Simple use powder instead of fresh eggs. The only good thing this round was the bacon. Toast was even bad. Not toasted all the way a way to much butter. Hash browns were over cooked and greasy. Over all I would never visit this place again. Between the bad tasting food and dirty silverware. I just couldn't take the abuse again. I hope Bob Evens reads these Yelp post and act on this. Awful.

OK - I do know people who would like this place because it is just "regular food", but not my taste. I got the chicken dish and veggies, so you can elect out of the fried foods. People were nice and the food came pretty fast.

Yeah, yeah, I know this is a chain along the line of Coco's, Carrow's, Village Inn, or Waffle House. But Bob Evans is breakfast heaven. Breakfast all day, spanning over pages. I think they have lunch and dinner buried in there, but who cares! There's nothing special about the preparation, but the super-friendly service from the host to the server to the manager and the vast options have made me a converted fan. Go ahead and judge.

Had Veggie Omelette was good after I scraped off the raw heaps of onions. Had to ask for silverware. Water only refilled once.

Great spot to stop b4 going into DTW.

Good for breakfast, better than Denny's. Pretty basic food, don't expect anything mind blowing.

Awful.

Just another Bob's you know what your going to get.
