Great fresh fish, love the appetizers too, very delicious sauces I recommend sashimi platter, crab ragoons, and yum yum roll.

Food is halfway decent but the staff here is so horrible I can't give it more than a star. I was here for lunch a few times and only once when the blonde girl was our waitress was it decent. Today was the last straw. The guy with the dreads was incompetent. He took my order with a dirty smelly dish towel in his hand. I've waited tables.... Not brain surgery but this guy couldn't have been worse. Then I'm the only person in the restaurant and everyone starts yelling across the place to each other. Dreads even yelled about a nice pipe he bought. Absolutely horrible. Dreads then went back to his laptop and phone playing loud music and pretty much ignored me the whole time. Last time I was here the power company called and said they were going to shutoff the power due to lack of payment. Shouldn't be long until this place is done for. Needs new management and ownership.

Just moved to The area...my husband and I love that we can get delicious sushi close to home. Try the tempura sampler. So good!

Good sushi and nice to have place in Romeo. I typically get carry out and generally service pleasant from cashiers. The owners are not real engaged with customers. They could use some people skills development. Overall, good food and again, nice to have a local sushi place.

I am in love! Super fresh and delicious. We are sushi snobs and my husband and my expectations were completely and delightfully exceeded. I highly recommend their ginger salad. The flavors play together in perfect balance. As for the other reviews, are we talking about the same place? Seriously! I am so excited to add a new favorite to our now 3 sushi bars we patron. To top it off, we were offered happy hour prices even though we arrived shortly after the end of happy hour. We were so happy and impressed that we ordered an additional 4 rolls to go. Yummy!

This place is for inexperienced and low-budget highschoolers who don't know what good customer service is. I walked in and while the owner was handling customers he looked over at me and said "sit wherever you want" curtly. Then a guy at the bar shuffled over and handed me a menu and I was like "well I'm sitting outside, do I order here and then take it out?" The owner answered and says "go sit outside; we'll get to you." In the meantime, I'm sitting here for 30 minutes waiting for my sushi. I don't know why it's taking so long for a Philly and a simple salmon roll. Also miso is free with lunch, I only know because I've been here before, but no one offered. I had to asked for it. I've been here before and it always seems like the owner is a rude jerk and the employees are lazy and slow. Regular salmon roll tasted good though, but the Philly was mushy. Avocado was really really soft and presentation was sloppy. Unfortunately there's not really anywhere else to eat in Romeo that isn't a bar?

Decided to try this place out today. Atmosphere is clean and nice. Service was good. Staff was friendly. Not the best sushi I've ever had but it was decent. Wish there was a larger selection of non-hard-shelled options. There were not a lot of "specialty" rolls like the Hawaiian and the specialty rolls I saw had very different ingredients than what I'm use to. It was 1:30 on a Tuesday afternoon and the place was dead. Always makes me nervous wondering how fresh the fish is...

Very pleased to have sushi in our small town, and great sushi no less! The rolls are fresh, creative, and well prepared. I have enjoyed every item I've ordered and really appreciate the attention to detail here---it is noticeable. The location is clean, well kept, right on Main Street, and the regular servers are very pleasant. I wish I could make this a 5-star review, however, the service and arrival of food is consistently slow. If anything could be improved it should be the processes and timing by which food is delivered to the table. We've often not received our complimentary salad or soup until the entrees were brought out. Or, similarly, sat for 45 minutes or longer before receiving any food. Everything still tastes so good, it is worth the wait! But it would be even better to see improvement there.

My husband and I had been missing sushi since we moved. We would normally hit up Kona Grill for happy hour but now it is way too far away! I googled sushi restaurants and stumbled upon this place! I was a little skeptical after reading some of the reviews. The hubs and I were craving sushi so we finally decided to give it a try. Walking in, the restaurant is small and a little run down looking. Our waitress was super friendly. We ordered two Philly rolls and an Alaskan roll. We were starving and it took a while since another table ordered a bunch of rolls. The miso soup was ok. I've had better but it wasn't bad. My husband got crab Rangoons that smelled amazing! He wouldn't stop making noises and telling me how delicious the were. Grr! The sushi chef was super nice and talked with us while he was making sushi (we sat at the sushi bar). The Philly roll was delicious! I have never eaten sushi so fast. I never eat more than one roll and I wanted more! As we chatted with the sushi chef he gave us a lobster roll on the house....I DO NOT eat lobster and I ate three pieces! Very yummy. I would deff go back! For those who don't like sushi they have a few noodle and fried rice options. Another table got a heaping plate of fried rice and I was so jealous! For soup, crab rangoons, three rolls and a pop, the bill came out to $27 After taxes. The prices are great. Half the price of Kona and just as good! Hubs was just sad they do not have a liquor license as he loves sake. That wouldn't stop us from coming back, though.

Service is non existent here. Sushi is however pretty good just don't know how to run a business . Every time we order carry out they tell us 30 minutes and arrive a little early just to wait an additional 45 to an hour . The sad thing is that their might be 1 or 2 tables with people in there with this horrendous wait.

Not the greatest. Miso soup was bitter. The shrimp tempura would have been excellent if they would change their cooking oil. Sushi was mushy. Good service, but we won't return.

The sushi is great. However... All you can eat sushi Thursdays became a routine and we went back today only to find that they had stopped it. They definitely need to bring it back as I saw many dissapointed customers in there this evening, including myself and my guest.

I have sampled sushi at many different places. This is by far the worst sushi place I have ever been to. My son and I sat down at the sushi bar for a good 5-10 minutes before a young caucasian guy dressed in a worn t-shirt and workout/PJ pants showed up with menus. The sushi guy behind the bar never once looked up to make eye contact. We ordered Gyoza and Udon noodles with veggie tempura for my son and a sashimi sampler platter. The tempura batter was minimal and dry (too much flour). The udon noodles were not even warm. They were rubbery like someone made them in the microwave. My sashimi pieces were the thinnest pieces of fish I have ever had. The tuna rolls were made with stale seaweed (seaweed should be dry and crisp). The worst part was that there appeared to be strange chewy bits (resembling meat tendon) in the tiny pieces of tuna in the rolls that I had to spit out. Not sure if this is because they use lower grade tuna (cheaper cut, different area of fish). When we were almost done, the server brought out the Gyoza. He apologized about forgetting them and said he'd take them off the bill. Thank goodness because nowhere on the menu did it specify that they'd be deep-fried (real sushi establishments pan-fry them). Last but not least, the women's restroom was filthy and disgusting. The toilet and sink looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a month. If a restaurant's restroom is that dirty, I can only imagine what condition the kitchen is in.

Ate here while on a weekend get away with my husband. we tried a few things and loved everything! It was slow but staff was kind and helpful. Kind of slow but we were in no hurry so it was no big deal. Prices fair and food was fresh and tasty. Try the Bull Dog So darn good as I write this I want to go back and eat some more!

I am super stoked Romeo finally got a sushi place. I visited back in June and I have to say it was pretty good. The atmosphere was nice, the staff were friendly, especially the girl at the cash register! She was super rad. We ordered tuna rolls, salads, miso and cheese wontons, all of which were really delicious and made a great lunch! I will come back to this place when I visit Romeo again for sure!

I have never been disappointed here! The service is always on point, but I've never been here and not been the only table in the restaurant. Always get all of my food quickly. Miso soup is complimentary with lunch, which is tasty. The spring rolls weren't that awesome (but I'm used to Thai spring rolls). All the sushi rolls are fantastic and fresh!! The Hawaiian crunch tempura, snow roll, and dragon are some of my faves. This is the only sushi place I go to! I'd recommend to anyone.

Had a similar experience as Leo S. Ordered $85 of takeout, my wife sent me to pick it up with a coupon for free spring rolls. She of course notified the waitress of her intentions on the phone and the waitress said she would include 8 spring rolls with our order. Picked up order, brought it home.....no spring rolls. Drove back to the restaurant and was informed that the coupon was dine-in only, but they would see what they could do since the waitress had promised them on the phone. The cook in the kitchen, I understand to be the owner, blew up at the waitress right in front me saying that this will not happen again we're going to go broke giving away free spring rolls, etc. etc. I offered to pay for the spring rolls to try to make the situation a little less awkward but she insisted I take them free because that's what she told my wife. I ended up getting 2 dinky spring rolls free with my $85 order. The sushi rolls we ordered were good, but I'm going to do my best to never support this business again.

My mother married a lumberjack and moved to Romeo, Michigan. I found myself walking the streets of downtown wishing I was somewhere that had great food that wasn't burgers. Because, really, one cannot live on burgers alone. And then Yorokobi opened! It was a Peach Festival miracle that Romeo had sushi gracing its Main Street. My mother, sister, and I walked in on Peach Festival Saturday. The place had just opened, and we were looking for a place to escape the bizarrely chilly weather. It seemed perfect - my mother and I like sushi, and my sister likes burgers. Happy family! The sushi was quite tasty, probably because I heard the chef from Little Tree opened the restaurant and he clearly knows his way around a maki. The American food was interesting - there was some burger with cheese inside, or something weird and gimmicky, and my sister wasn't wowed. But our waitress was kind and gave us a table overlooking Main, so we could observe our fellow Peach Festival-ers without suffering the wind and rain. What a nice addition to Romeo's downtown.

Great place! Had dinner with the family there tonight and as usual, the food was tremendous. I love the different spin on the typical rolls. Hopefully they get their liquor license in the near future. The only thing missing was a cold Sapporro.

We decided to go to Romeo for the night, just to try out something new. Of course, there was something going on downtown, so every place was packed, except this place....this should have been clue number one not to go in here but hey, we were hungry and it was getting late. The sign said Sushi and American Food. The place was cute, not too big, there was a sushi bar set up and there was one sushi chef, one waitress, and one guy in the kitchen from what I could see. The waitress seemed very unsure of herself and seemed very awkward about what they served there. The menu offered sushi and sliders, miso soup and chicken strips..um, ok. I got the spicy tuna roll and some kind of chicken rice noodle bowl. The bf got the California roll and sashimi. Let me start by saying that this is the worst sushi I have ever had. The cucumbers were as big as you would put in a garden salad. I shouldn't have to labor and sweat trying to chew my roll. It should melt in your mouth. There was just a lot of chomping going on here. No little bowl for your soy either, just pool it into a saucer I guess. The noodle bowl...yuk. The chicken was grizzly and the soup had zero flavor, I had to salt and pepper it quite a bit, and it was suppose to have had vegetables in it. Their idea of vegetables were chopped up baby corns and white onions. The sashimi...not sure what they were trying to offer, it was 3 skinny, paper thin pieces of fish with a mound of ginger next to in and some corn and pepper salsa or something sprinkled around it..wtf. The bill came to $25 and we still left hungry. I will never come back here.

Amazing sushi, very friendly staff. Try the dragon roll. They are always adding amazing new things to the menu that keep me coming back. Very nice place in the heart of the city.

I would not recommend this place. The service was absolutely terrible. There was a teenage girl working and we had to ask her to wipe the table off (they were all visibly dirty) which should have been the first sign. She gave me a strange look and went to get a wet rag wiping the table but knocking crumbs onto our chairs. My wife and I ordered six rolls including a special roll listed on the board behind the chef. We ordered edimame, salad and soup. It was only after a few minutes that our salads and edimame were brought out but no soup. We waited quite a while for that soup. Finally she brought 5 of our rolls but no soup. She said they are just finishing making the special roll. We had to ask for our soup and she finally brought it out saying "I thought I had already given it to you". We had to ask for a second set of chopsticks (had given us one set plus and opened wrapper with no sticks inside) and soy sauce. She got each thing individually and each time she went to get something it literally took 3 to 5 minutes. So we sat waiting for soy sauce while most of our sushi was setting in front of us. Then we asked where our special roll (baked lobster crab roll) was. She again said it is probably still being made and she'll bring it right out. It was painfully obvious after 20 minutes that they had forgot to make it. Since we had eaten all we wanted of what was delivered I finally went up to the bar and told the waitress we had finished our meal and we'd take our bill for what we ate. She rang us up for an including the special roll we never got. She said "he's almost finished making it now". I asked her to take it off the bill and after a short and unhappy discussion with the chef she removed it from the bill. We paid, tipped and left never to return. Mind you, there are about 7 tables and a sushi bar/counter here. Only four parties were here during most of our meal, so it was not very busy. We moved to one of the outside tables after ordering our food. Music playing during Romeo's 175th year festival- that was the best part of our meal. No beer or sake. Ginger dressing was bad tasting. We also found it incredibly strange that they make their sushi rice without rice wine vinegar which had it lacking in much of the traditional flavor in sushi. One of our cups, one of our plates and our sushi platter were all badly chipped (a health code violation I believe as it can harbor bacteria) Really bad service and pretty amateur sushi at best. Couldn't tell you about their special rolls because we never got ours. We also got to witness the waitress debating with another couple seated next to us about their use of a coupon. It sounded just like one of the other reviews posted about this place. We told several people that walked by considering going in how bad the service was. We were truly dismayed at how incompetent the staff seemed here.

Let me start out by saying that I am a huge fan of Sushi. I consider myself very well-versed when it comes to Sushi both as a food and culture. I should be, I was a waiter/sushi helper for 5 years. Although I have since moved on career-wise, I still remember how the business works. Now to the review... My wife was excited to take me here after purchasing a Groupon deal a few weeks ago. Tonight we finally found the time to make the 20 mile drive there with our 13 month old son. I also have to include the fact that my wife is 9 weeks pregnant and there are very few types of food that she can keep down. As you probably guessed, sushi is one of them. Don't worry, strictly the cooked stuff with the masago on the side for me. Fast forward to our arriving and sitting down, we informed our waitress of the Groupon we intended to use. My wife told her that she purchased the dinner for four deal. The waitress had no clue how Groupon worked so she had to ask the Sushi chef. This is when everything started going downhill. I overheard the rudeman (opposite of gentleman) tell her that the deal was only for a party of 4. He said that he cannot and will not honor the Groupon because all we had was two and a baby and the baby does not count. Mind you, my son loves California rolls. But he's not a person, so he does not count right? Needless to say, I was steamed. Lucky for rudeman, I am a more patient guy around my son. When the waitress told us that the Groupon can only be used for a party of 4, my wife tried to find where it stated that to no avail. We asked to see the rules if possible so that we could at least try and get a refund for our purchase. My wife and I intended to just order our food and get a refund through Groupon because Yorokobi would not honor it. No problem right? WRONG! The Sushi chef never showed us the rules. When I approached him to let him know that we will just order and get a refund for our Groupon later, he went on an extremely rude rant. I'm quoting from memory, but here goes: Me: We'll just order and get a refund for the Groupon Chef: Alright. I just can't give you guys the dinner for 4 deal because it's against our rules and you only have 2 people with you. It's meant to bring new customers in here to sample our food and come back again if they end up liking it. I can't just give 2 people a meal for 4 (4 rolls and noodles). We don't make any money from Groupons. My Wife: I just remember her being mad and saying he's rude Me: Look, we had no idea that we couldn't use the Groupon with 2 people. We did in fact invite our family, but they declined so we decided to come ourselves. This was not a huge deal for us. We just wanted a simple explanation and that's it. Me to waitress: Sorry, but we are leaving. We will not eat here nor will we come back. The chef was very rude and you guys just lost what could have been very loyal customers as we are huge sushi lovers. So there you have it... ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING ATTITUDE FROM THE SUSHI CHEF. Had I not been with my pregnant wife and baby son, I would have given that chef a good tongue lashing in front of all his customers. If you guys decide to go to this place even after my review, watch out for the White blonde male chef. No, I'm not trying to be racist. I don't know how many chefs this place has nor do I know who owns it. A rude White blonde male Sushi chef is the best I can do for a description. Consider yourselves warned. You want to know of great sushi places around Metro Detroit? Read my other reviews. By the way, the "not making money off Groupon" excuse is a load of B.S. They lose some profit, but definitely break even at the least. Reference my work experience above if you want to know how I know this. It is a moot point anyway. Don't put up a Groupon deal if you are going to act like a total dickhead about it. Sorry for the profanity guys, but seriously, the only other descriptive words that I can think of are very profane. If anyone from Yorokobi is reading this, especially the RUDE CHEF, take a look at my other reviews. You'll see a couple of Sushi restaurants that treat their customers right and have great food to boot. Too bad I never got to taste yours. Not like it matters. I don't care how good your food is if your attitude is equally disgusting. By the way, we drove about 10 miles to one of our favorite sushi bars right after this. Told you we love our sushi.
(1)Kayla K.
I didn't much care for this place. I got the sushi sampler. Tasteless without soy sauce. That is just not right.
(3)Shannon S.
I tried this place only once so far. I was immensely excited that we have sushi in Romeo. I enjoyed the sushi and miso soup I ordered. I did a carry out so I didn't get the whole dine-in experience.....I'll definately be going back..
(4)Julie A.
Ok I got the hot mama and spicy tuna. It was just me..I would have loved to try more. The Miso soup was so so, but free with your order during happy hour! Yes, they have happy hour from 2-6. they had spicy tuna and California roll for $3.50. Not sure if this changes. I would love to try it again but it will be at least 9 months before I can go back. I will re-review again when I can try more! The best thing is it is right in the heart of Romeo, they needed this!
