My favorite barbecue place to go too. They have the best brisket on the planet. My opinion of course. The meat just melts in your mouth. Never had a bad meal there.

Food and drinks are very good. Service is slow though. Took almost an hour to get food with just 3 or 4 groups in the dining area. Have had the same type of service with each visit at this location.

Consistent hot take out. Sit down was great as well!! Love the BBQ sauce selections...a little spicy

I enjoy the people more then I do the food but the food is good non the less. I am a red meats guy but I enjoy their barbeque chicken the most out of any meal they have!

Yep - 4 star BBQ for sure. This joint is a part of my regular restaurant circuit. I have a hard time not getting the 2 meat-combo because both the Texas Brisket and Chopped Pork are really delicious with the variety of BBQ sauces available on every table. I would recommend this Famous Dave's and likely, you will see me around should you visit as often as I wish I could.

We showed up to Famous Dave's close to their closing time, but they were more than happy to seat us. Our waitress was awesome; she went above and beyond her duties to make sure we were happy. My friend had ordered a drink which they were missing an ingredient for, but she did her best to make a similar tasting drink. The food was excellent. I had the ribs and pork combo and I was very pleased with both. The portions were much bigger than you tend to get with BBQ, so much so that we couldn't finish our meals and had some to take home. This is my new favorite Metro Detroit BBQ!

Our experience here was one for the books. As the first worst Resturaunt I will have the pleasure of reviewing on Yelp. Well everything started great got the burnt ends as an appetizer and they were good. Then we ordered our food and 25 min went by. The. We could tell something was wrong because the manager and about 3 of employees were talking at the hostess stand then they finally decided to tell us they thru out our entree order and we had to wait another 25 min for our food. After we got our food and wasted an hour of our time the food was not worth the wait. I got the ribs and brisket. The ribs I couldn't even bite off the bone. I used my fork and felt like I was getting crab meat out if the shell. The meat was tough and hard to get off of the bone. The brisket was dry and tough. My fiancé got the chicken tenders I'm not sure how you mess those up and they actually got those right. The only reason they got two stars was for the awesome cornbread and the fact they discounted our bill. Other than that I will not be a return customer to any Famous Dave's. Sorry Dave.

Food is always good, service every time we go leads you wanting more. From the time you come in with the hostesses to the time you deal with the server's is lackluster. If you can get by that then you'll love the majority of choices on there menu. My favorites are the baby back ribs and the rib tips are incredible. Beans are good, mac n cheese is decent. The sausage was disappointing. Would have given five stars but the service didn't allow it. Enjoy good bar-b-que here.

This is now our favorite place. The portions are humongous. The ribs had more meat than I have ever seen in my 60 years on a bone. The corn muffins are to die for, as is the mac n cheese.

I can not say enough about the great service at Famous Dave's. I contacted Bridget on the catering team, inquiring about having our wedding dinner there. She said they have never done weddings but would get back with me. She made it happen and it was incredible. She ensured that everything we needed was handled. We had approximately 55 people and everyone received great service. The food was incredible as well. We did the All-American BBQ Feasts, as recommended. Everyone left happy and FULL. Thank you Famous Daves!!

I love BBQ of any kind, and I've learned over the years what I like and don't like in a place. Back when I lived in Phoenix, we had BBQ places all over, and I had a few favorites. This was one of them. Yes, I know it's a chain, but sometimes you have to go with what works. So, as a fan I've stopped in here a few times, and well, I've kind of left underwhelmed. Everything is the same, in some sense (the atmosphere, menu, friendly staff) but the Brisket here just doesn't taste how it did when I was out west. The first time I ate here, I left feeling disappointed and underwhelmed. I thought maybe I was having an off night, maybe I came in at the wrong time, but after tonight, I'm pretty sure it's not me. It's not that the brisket's bad. It just doesn't taste good. Tastes kind of processed, if you will. Everything else was fine, but see, I'm a BBQ brisket freak. That's my go to dish, and I like it a certain way. Barbequed, shredded, with a fair amount of sauce on it. The sauce was okay, but the meat just tasted processed. I don't know what else to say, but I think it might just be this location. I might try dabbling in other dishes next time I come here, but overall, the quality isn't there that I had come to love with Famous Dave's out in Phoenix. Everything else here rocks. GREAT service, family friendly atmosphere, plenty of other good things going on. I think I might need to step up my BBQ game a bit and try other places for a while and put my famous dave's on the back burner for a while.

Come here for the brisket. Try the rib tips. The burnt ends appetizer is very good served with onion straws. Their buffalo wing sauces have a good range and a nice taste. It's a chain. Be prepared for consistent food and inconsistent service. Not that we've had horrible service. It just varies. They have good, proper Southern sweet tea.

Delicious! You can't go wrong with any BBQ food choice at Famous Dave's...the Feast for 2 is more than enough to feed a family, with leftovers to boot! :-)

Even though this is a chain, it is one of our very favorite restaurants. My husband and I usually go 1-2 times a month and we've never had a less than delicious meal. We always start with the boneless wings in the pineapple rage sauce. My husband always gets the ribs and hot link 2 meat platter with fries and cole slaw. I vary between the pulled pork platter and the Cajun chicken sandwich, either mac and cheese, Wilbur baked beans, or the spicy firecracker green beans for my sides. The spicy pickle chips that come with the sandwiches are so delicious. I usually ask for extras. The corn muffins are really good but I usually get my meal without one. I looked up the nutritional content one time and the fat and calories was unbelievable. That's why it tastes so good. Lol! 9 times out if 10 the service is excellent as well. With a couple of sweet teas, you are looking at over $50 including two entrees and an appetizer but it is worth it!

Beef brisket very disappointing. Tasted too "processed" and like it came from a frozen dinner.

I don't normally write reviews for chains. Most people would try it anyways and it's normally what you expect. Famous Dave's though is solid BBQ with good service. I have been careful about portion sizes and not over-eating, but at Famous Dave's I always break my own rules and order the feast for one. It comes with Chopped Pork, a quarter of chicken either roasted or bbq. I like the roasted since it has less sugar. Also comes with St. Louis-Style Spareribs, Sweet Corn, Beans, Coleslaw, Fries and a Muffin. That's plenty of food for two, but I normally try to eat most of it. Famous Daves comes with a variety of bbq sauces at the table. I like a little of the Rich and Sassy. The chopped pork is my favorite. I have never really figured out their frequent diner program. I signed up for it. Tell them my number, but I'm not sure what type of rewards I get. I've been to Q places in the south and many of the trendy places in the big cities that are popping up. I think that Famous Dave's is just as good as those places.

Ordered the Barbecue Feast For One. Delicious!! This meal was the best introduction to Famous Dave's Barbecue. I am glad I decided to visit this restaurant. I only wish I had taken a photo :-)

Food at famous Daves is always the best, I was a little disappointed with the service though. 20 mins to take our order. Waitress brought over my Mai thai drink and forgot to give me a straw, it took her 20 mins to bring me a straw. To my surprised no servers put straws in there pouches...really odd. Being in Rochester and at Famous Daves I expected better service with the great food, just didn't get it here.

Both times we have been to this location the service has been friendly and fast. I like having all of the Famous Daves sauces and trying them all with my Burger, they have six selections from Mustards, to mild/hot bbq along with many other choices. My wife loved her BBQ chicken, the fries here are also different then standard fries and we enjoy them a lot, the Corn Bread is also really good. I like the amount of different sides you can choose from as well. As far as BBQ (Although I have other favorite restaurants) I can say Famous Daves makes the top of this list, and I recommended anyone try it. Before the first time visiting I never knew this places existed (when driving down the HWY to Detroit you see the Famous Dave's in Roseville off the Highway) I assumed it was a private restaurants. When I went to google and review the menu I was sold and after actually going into the restaurant I am surprised it is not as well know. I have found this location (Rochester Hills) was better then the Roseville location. The Rochester location also offers shopping and amenities around the restaurant and is a short drive to Downtown Rochester and Rochester Hills.

OK, so eating at Famous Dave's isn't like eating at the little Arkansas joint off a back road with a big smoker out back, but it's pretty darn good for a chain place. If just can't decide what to get, you can always have one of Dave's "feasts--a ginormous combo plate served in a garbage pail lid (but make sure you're with several friends, or be prepared to take a huge container of leftovers home with you!). I'm not much for ribs, but I often have them here because I can get them "dry" and add my own sauce. I'll usually use a bit of the Georgia Mustard sauce, and a lot of the spicy Devil's Spit sauce...love the heat, f'sure. My favorite among the side dishes are the jalapeno-spiked mac 'n' cheese and the Wilbur baked beans...or the thick-cut fried, dipped in plenty of Devil's Spit! This Dave's also has a decent selection of beer, and the service is generally friendly and attentive.

I've eaten at Famous Dave's a handful of times now, and while I can't say they are consistent, I've always enjoyed my meals. It's hard for me not to. The food is generally pretty good. Their jalapeño mac and cheese is heavenly, the cornbread muffins are fantastic, and their garlic mashed potatoes are great, too. They've got good drink specials, currently something like a buck per pint on Wednesdays, and it's not all swill so that is pretty cool. Basically if you were to make a venn diagram of "Things I Love" and "Famous Dave's Goods and Services" there would be a pretty hefty overlap. Of course, the BBQ is the main attraction here, so let's talk about that. Like I said, consistency is not Famous Dave's main attribute. I've had racks of ribs that were a little tough, as well as racks that were juicy and fork tender. I've had racks that were so overseasoned that if you tasted anything but celery salt or sauce, it'd be a miracle. I've also had racks that were so perfectly done that I'd tell people about it the next day. It's hard to know what you'll be getting into from visit to visit. Dave's is one of those places where they highlight the sauces over the meat. I'm of the opinion that this is a mistake, sauce does not good BBQ make, as far as I'm concerned. Not that it isn't an important element! However, despite that, Famous Daves has some great sauces. They've got a sauce for every palate, from the almost saccharine sweet with molasses and tomato with pineapple, to mustard and vinegar type sauces, and of course something violently spicy for the masochists. They're all great in their own way. But here's where Dave's shines: Customer service. Tonight I took my folks to dinner here, and their ribs weren't really up to par. A couple of bones in and they'd decided that they'd rather go to the Boneyard or somewhere else. And I get where they were coming from, I tried a bone and their ribs were pretty dry and overseasoned. We'd made an offhand, almost absent-minded comment on it to the waitress, who returned with the manager and a second half slab of ribs done to perfection, on the house. And THOSE ribs, oh those ribs. They weren't just markedly better, but some of the best ribs I've had in quite some time. (And not just because I haven't had ribs in quite some time.) The smoke had penetrated just right - you could look at the smoke ring and see for yourself - not overseasoned, just enough to complement the flavor of the pork. Now THAT was a plate of ribs. Of course, I've also been to Famous Dave's and found it a chore just to get a refill on a glass of water. So again, consistency is a commodity here. There's a lot that Famous Dave's does right. They don't do it right all the time, but when they DO get it right, boy do they get it right. Such is the nature of a chain restaurant, I suppose, but honestly, when this place is firing on all cylinders, it's hard to pass up. Do check it out! If you're lucky, it'll be a good, good night. And even when it's not that great, it's still pretty good.

Good sauce. Nice sized portions. Ribs don't fall off the bone, but still good. I suggest the pulled pork sandwhich. Waitstaff is hit and miss, and if you go during peak hours, they bus tables ungodly slow, so expect a wait. Carryout counter staff are rude. Kinda pricey too.

The hostess seen us approaching the door and was waiting for us with kid menus and crayons in hand. The Service was great, an ice cold frosty mug for my beer and our food was on the table with in minutes! I got the smoked dry rubbed baby back ribs. They weren't fall of the bone tender tough, and I won't lie I was kinda disappointed. I'm not sure why some one would wanna sit there and gnaw at a bone to get the meat off. The manager was super cool and got me a 1/2 roasted chicken, it was very good. I really liked there Jalapeno Mack n' cheese, the cornbread was moist and tasted good as well. I'm not sure if they had a side I didn't like. We enjoyed the the coleslaw, the fried pickles, and all the different sauces! The bread pudding is not something I normally order but we decided to be spontaneous today and am I glad we did, it was really good. I'm looking forward to my next cold frosty beer and good BBQ at Famous Daves.

This is my favorite chain restaurant. I love, love, love that they keep all of their sauces out on the table. My boyfriend and I always split the 2 meat combo with tenders (the seasoning on them are fantastic!) and the BBQ chicken. Make sure you try the sweet and sour jalapeno sauce. It is so unique. There isn't any heat there, but the combination of flavors is unlike any other that I've ever had. The service has always been fantastic.

They were going to name this place after the service, but "Slow's" was already taken. I live very close to this place, and in my lame obsession to trying every restaurant on the corner of Auburn and Rochester, I finally ended up here. First off, the decor is completely unexpected. I genuinely seems like a Georgia Roadhouse right off the interstate, with red plaid tablecloths and gas station signs everywhere. I'm not sure if it was my luck, but even the patrons seems like they were from the deep, inbred south. I even saw a guy wearing overalls. I wondered if someone was saying to themselves "we don't take kindly to your type 'round here." It took the waitress a good 10 minutes to get to us. I ordered the beef brisket. It didn't come out for about 25 minutes. They didn't seem that busy. I saw a lot of open tables, and there was no wait to get my table, so I don't know why it took almost 40 minutes to get my meal. Quite frustrating, seeing as how I was quite hungry and had run out of things to talk about. When the food finally came out, it was quite good. The comparisons to Slows will happen, and I'd say they're pretty close. Dave's has a whole bunch of different sauces to put on your stuff, so it's an adventure in every bite. The Mac and Cheese was gross, though. Don't get that side. All in all, I liked the meal. I just wish it came faster. I may give it one more try, hoping it was a one-off. If not, I'll probably get take-out. The prices weren't bad. I'll just have to work "y'all" into my vernacular.

Was really in the mood for a great burger. Was going through the yelp listings and didn't find anything that stood out. Since not everyone was in the mood for a burger we decided on famous dave's. I have never not had BBQ there bit their burger menu looked good. I ordered the: Ultimate BBQ Burger A juicy ground beef patty beneath a pile of Georgia Chopped Pork with two strips of jalapeño bacon, melted sharp American cheese and our signature Beam & Cola BBQ sauce. It was the best burger that I have ever had. I would have given this a 5 star review but the service was extremely slow. Took 20 minutes to place our order, and 45 minutes to get our food. We almost got up and left, so glad we didn't.

Every time we go and get the plate which include chicken, ribs and your choice of pulled pork/sausage or beef brisket. Chicken was moist, ribs tender and pulled pork was ok. You can pick up different sauce to mix up and try it out. Value is good, atmosphere casual.

I LUH-HOVE Famous Daves!! Even though it's a chain, I think they do a better job with ribs than Slows. I've always gone here with a group of 4-7 because we always order the same thing: Rib Tips 'til Payday, it's 5 lbs of rib tips, and 2 lbs of fries all for $26.99! It's served on a trash can lid for pete's sake! Makes you feel like you're in the dirty south grubbin' like a real carnivore! Their choice of 5 dipping sauces compliment the food really well. Rich & Sassy is hands down their best sauce, Sweet n Zesty and Texas Pit are good too. I was pleasantly surprised to find their bottled sauces at Kroger one day! But back to the Rib Tips 'til Payday, that deal used to include 4 pieces of texas toast and 4 cornbread muffins, which was an even better bang for the buck! But their menu doesn't show that anymore...fail! It's supposed to serve 4-6, but even with 6 people eating, we're always left with enough leftovers for 2-3 more healthy servings. The rib tips are grilled/smoked to perfection with just the perfect meat : fat ratio! They are juicy and delicious! As far as sides go, I am a big potato salad fan, ordering a pint size portion of that is a perfect pair for the rib tips. Their service is typically good at this location too, except for one time when they tried to gyp us by only giving 3 lbs of ribs, which was obvious since 40% of the food was missing, but upon request they quickly apologized and gave us another 3 lbs of ribs, and ended up getting 1 lb more, so we were happy porkers :) I haven't been here in a long time and my mouth is watering just thinking about it.... so like the Terminator, (insert Austrian accent here) "I'll be back!"

I was craving BBQ and happened to see this restaurant pop up on my iPhone as being close by so I stopped in. Wow. I only wish I had discovered this tasty gem earlier in my stay in Michigan. First of all, you can hardly go wrong with a joint that has their BBQ sauces handy on the table in squirt bottles and an entire roll of paper towels right there to boot. Smart, smart, smart. I was really hungry but couldn't decide if I wanted beef or chicken so I opted for both. Man. The sliced beef was tender and tasty. No knife needed. The chicken was the same. I can't remember having a tastier piece of BBQ chicken. Juicy and tender, it fell off the bone. But to add to my already blissful experience, I had asked for the Mac & Cheese as one of my sides. O!M!G! Why in the world doesn't everyone make M&C with jalapenos? By far, the best M&C I've ever had at a restaurant. Cornbread and coleslaw were also very good. If I had been at home, I would have kept on eating until I had lapsed into a food coma. Instead, I packed up my left overs and will have a nice late-nite snack. MmmmmMmmmm. Delicious!

Fun and Family-Friendly. We went to Famous Dave's for lunch on a Thursday, and it was fantastic! The staff were all smiles, even when serving our three over-excited kids, five years and under. Great food, excellent kids menu (fun to color with cool puzzles), good local beer, and surprisingly healthy options (delicious cooked green veggies). What a nice surprise to have mom-and-pop level service @ a franchise... we'll definitely be back!

This is the place to go if you like Bar-B-Que (BBQ) in Rochester Hills. I suggest everything but the veggies. I must say it was not fallin' off the bone as real Bar-B-Que should but it is better then most. Has a very fun atmosphere with old garage memorabilia all over the place. The best thing for me was the various sauces that are offered. They are not thick but very flavorful.
