If you are over 50 and want to get out and trip the light fantastic on a weekend, then head straight to Sportsmens Den. A family style restaurant that serves great prime rib and typical bar food like Loaded Nachos, and something interesting known as Devil's Pasta, which is not spicy. At around 8:30 on the weekend the house band takes the stage and plays a good variety of mostly oldies music from the past 40 years. Really good selection. Not a seniors pick-up joint, though romance has been known to happen. I really think this is the best place in the Detroit area for people over 50 to congregate on the weekends. Even has an enclosed outdoors deck for those who still smoke! Very comfortable atmosphere.

I have been here a number of times for parties, wakes, weekend dance parties and this last weekend we had a family dinner. There were 35 of us and I have to say the wait staff was amazing! Oh sure some of the food came out later than others but not everything can be cooked at the same time. We asked for individual bills, singles and family groups and they had no problem with that. The food is always good there and everyone had a good time. If you love oldies music the house band Tender Years is great on the weekends.

Food is overpriced. I ordered perch which I love. They didn't scale it correctly so I was getting lots of scales in my mouth when I ate it. Very unpleasant ! Also had lots of tiny bones. Never had that happen anywhere else. And especially when you pay so much for the meal. Wouldn't recommend it !!

Terrible food/service. Went there for a retirement party for one of my mom's co-workers. The servers treated our large party like an inconvenience and avoided us to the point where I couldn't get a refill on water. When I finally did get my water, there was a piece of paper napkin ring floating in it. The server did not apologize and explained to me, "It was just paper." The food took forever to come out, was cold when it did, and tasted like something that came out of a frozen bag. The portions were unsatisfying for how much you are charged as well. And the last straw was... My mom made a cake for the party and when the staff brought it out, it was completed cracked down the middle like they dropped it or something. We were outraged at the presentation, but the management never gave us an apology and went as far to say "We brought it in like that."

Unlike someone who thinks this place is good, I wonder if you have eaten out before? My extended family likes this place and I have tagged along a few times. I have yet to have a satisfactory dining experience. The stuffed peppers and golobki were horrible representations of actual food, (too much rice, bitter sauce). Burger has always been overcooked. Microwaved baked potatos. EWWWWWW!!!! Downriver is not known for a discerning clientele, thats why its busy

I went were with a group last week for dinner. There was a gift card involved so I tagged along excited for a free meal. What's the worst that could happen? I quickly found out this place is a restaurant tied into the Riverview Highlands Golf Course. I've not had many golf course restaurant experiences and if the others are similar to this one I can't imagine many more. This place is a complete dive. Not the "Oh man this place is super seedy/underground/brag to your friends about how cool/hip it is" type dive. The "having a conversation about the worst food you've had in a 'fine' dining setting" kind of dive. The white bread served before dinner was good. I mean...it's not hard to botch bread someone else makes and you serve. Starter salad was not fresh/uninspired. I picked out the barbecue ribs and mashed potatoes as my main. Ribs had no meat, a below average sauce to cover up the not-so-great taste, and the mashed potatoes were just the average boxed instant type. I hate complaining about food that I didn't actually pay for but I feel a moral obligation to warn the people of Yelp about this bunker.

This place has been here for over thiry years and had it ups and downs, however it cranks out consistently decent food at a fair price. For those who are looking for the ultimate dining experience you are going to have to pay alot more than they charge here. Service is always friendly and helpful. Enertainment on the weekend is popular and they hold many wakes, showers and birthday parties here.
