I liked it. We had the Benedict and the eggs were poached perfectly. Wonderful little spot.

A very solid breakfast place. The interior looks like an Easter Basket explosion. And little fried eggs are plastered everywhere, so it's kind of cute. I like that the kitchen is open. The omelets are outstanding. I've tried their crepes and they used what appeared to be homemade strawberry preserves (YUM!!). I really like that they have many different kinds of eggs benedict, but I have to say the tomato and artichoke benedict isn't too great. The just dumped a whole bunch of canned artichokes all over which made the dish very salty and drab-looking. Despite that, all my food experiences here have been pleasant. They do what they can for the acoustics in here, but it can still get pretty loud if the restaurant is full. Service has always been friendly, no complaints there. The coffee is from Waterstreet, so that's a big plus. Oh, but they no longer serve pineapple toast even though it is still listed on their menu. I was really looking forward to trying it after reading some other review on here, but alas...

Expensive food that is about the same quality of most diners. Cute place with a nice decor, but not really worth the price.

Yup. Breakfast. I have finally found my breakfast place in Kalamazoo. It used to be Maggie's, Rykse's, Crow's Nest, etc. But this is really what I have been waiting for. A simple menu with plenty of options but not overwhelmingly so, very inexpensive, and tastes good!! The coffee is from waterstreet (yay local!) and the portions are just right. The interior is bright and colorful with large fake eggs plastered everywhere. I get the feeling it's kept very clean, as all of the tables were neat and cleared of any napkins, crumbs, etc. My over medium eggs were cooked just right and the service was friendly. I would love to go back and try their benedicts and the homemade donut holes. One thing is that I think the menu has had an update in prices compared to the ones posted on their website. But that's not a huge deal - it was only like $1 more for my "That One Breakfast" (2 eggs, toast, hashbrowns, sausage patty), with it being around $7 overall. My friend got the same thing with OJ and it was $9 something. That's a quality breakfast for under $10, people.

Cute restaurant with a good atmosphere, you can expect a wait on weekends. The decorations are very kid-like which makes you feel happy when you are eating. They offer gluten free pancakes which is one of the reasons I am regular when I am in MI visiting my mom. The food is also good, I normally eat the omelettes, I have not been disappointed yet. If you go there you go there often and order the same thing your bill is never the same, sometimes they charge you for things and other times they dont. A little odd....

Yum! I wish there wasn't a wait on weekends because we would probably come here more. The Crab Cake Eggs Benedict is AMAZING. It's not a cheap breakfast place by any means, but it's definitely worth the price for the quality of the food and the coffee. The only reason for no 5 stars is because I'm not a huge fan of the atmosphere...I like my restaurants cozy, and this is just a big room with tables/chairs...so it's bright and can get loud.

This is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Kalamazoo County. What I like: Menu diversity that reflects a bigger city type restaurant. Cool seasonal items like pumpkin pancakes. Gluten free options = that's forward thinking! Consistency of product. Good coffee! I believe it's Waterstreet coffee. Adequate food portion quantity. Reasonable price. My recommendation if you like a healthy option: Try the veggie omelette without the onions (unless you dig onions) and replace the mixed cheese with feta cheese. What I'd critique. There are many types of eggs benedict. The traditional benedict and crab cake benedict are delicious. Some of the other benedict options don't quite hit the mark on taste. It has a bit of a big room feel and you find yourself searching for a corner or window table to not feel like you're having breakfast with every other customer in the place. Thimbles of ketchup instead of the bottle. I realize this is done to reduce waste and condiment cost but I'm not much for having to sanction my ketchup allotment or ask the waitress for more ketchup. I highly recommend this place!

Service was good. So was the atmosphere. I went specifically for the eggs benedict but was disappointed in the sauce. It was not hollendase sauce. However, it was still tasty. It was well priced. I will go back again, as other menu items caught my eye. Such as lemon poppy seed pancakes, tequila lime chicken soup and chicken cordon blu sandwich.

Any places that cooks up donut holes to order, served warm in your choice of cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar, plain or a combination of all three... is a-ok in my book! Add to this stellar staff, and amazing array of AM bennies and some hash browns cooked to order, nice and crispy like I like!

First time this morning. Excellent Service, Excellent Food, and Very Clean. Priced Right! I Had the Northerner and it was Delicious. My Wife Had Scrambled Eggs & Raisin toast. Said she would like to go back and that's a complement. Kinda crowded in & we prefer booths. But it's on my favorites list!

First visit to east egg today. Probably won't go back. Ordered 2 eggs, bacon, crispy hash browns, and toast. When the server brought our food my fiancé's hash browns were crispy and mine were mushy. Told the waitress and she said sorry I'll bring you a plate and you can swap hash browns. Not the answer we were looking for. Next issue: I only got 1 and a half strips of bacon not 2 full strips. Next issue: they only give you one slice of toast not 2. Every restaurant I've been to when it says toast comes with the meal it usually means 2 slices. We will continue to travel to the other side of Portage to eat at our favorite breakfast place; Uncle Earnies on portage road.

This is one of my family's favorite places for breakfast. Everything we have had there has been amazing. My daughter loves the chocolate chip pancakes (what kid wouldn't?). My favorite is either the corned beef hash benedict or the stuffed pancakes with strawberry confit. My wife almost always gets an omelet and is never disappointed. Their freezer jam is unreal. I wish I could buy a jug of it and take it home. It is that good. The service is always top-notch and everyone is super friendly. Definitely one of the best (if not the best) breakfast places in Portage.

Pros: Pretty good food, just got a simple eggs and toast breakfast with coffee; I'm picky with my eggs and they did them perfect! I would probably try something else next time though. Coffee was pretty good and our waitress what awesome! Cons: I don't care for their dining set up at all. It's all very open, tight, and loud... very loud. There isn't a lot of seating so if you have a rather large group... go somewhere else! Their prices are alright, I've gotten bigger plates for cheaper prices in other local spots, but they are affordable!

I ordered a bacon, light cheddar and avacado omlette. The omlette was cooked well and they did follow my direction for light cheese. The only downside was that they use frozen avacado, which is plain gross. They placed it on top of the omlette too, so I knew not to eat it. Had they tucked the avacado inside I wouldn't have minded as much. Best part of the meal is that they offer grits. The grits did not have any flavor (butter or cream) but I can get over that. The serving was generous and I brought the extras home for breakfast the next morning.

Best corned beef I have ever had. I can't rate anything else because I can't go there and order anything else.

I love love LOVE East Egg, it's so good. I love going here for breakfast on the rare occasion that I do. The service is as amazing as the food. I seriously don't know what else to say, it's just amazing!

This place is awesome for Sunday brunch. Their breakfasts are to die for. I have to eat gluten free and they offer so many gluten free options like pancakes and toast. I had the veggie omelette today with fresh fruit and orange juice. I had plenty of food and the portion sizes are perfect.

What I really wanted was a really good cup of coffee. What I got tasted bitter, like it was the last of the pot that had been sitting for a while. I was there long enough to watch them make fresh and I still didn't like it. They offer "cup to go" and I declined. The eggs benedict was just ok. Not enough sauce and the eggs had uncooked whites. came with hash browns which were thin sliced and crispy - the best part of the meal.

I've only been once for a business meeting, but was impressed with the service and the quality of the food. Everything we ordered seemed fresh and tasted great. The Eggs Benedict is a big favorite.

LOVE the monte cristo sandwich even though they recently took it off the menu. Great spot to pick up a quick, cheap lunch during the week. They also have fantastic pancake specials on the weekends. Red Velvet and Pumpkin would have to be my favorite pancake specialties. Could have to wait awhile on the weekends though as this is a popular spot.

The only reason I'm not giving five stars was because of the wait. It wasn't very busy, but we waited nearly an hour to get a table. Having said that, my Hawaiian Burger was amazing. It was perfectly cooked to my preference and the ham and pineapple complimented the quality hamburger oh so nicely. My gf isn't a big fan of the Hawaiian combo on pizza, but said she'd definitely be getting that burger the next time we're in Kalamazoo. My friends back home talked this place up and I can say without a doubt the food lived up to the hype.

Very cute atmosphere and friendly, efficient service. The food was pretty good espcially for the price. Our total breakfast for 4 adults came out to less than 30 including tip! Pretty basic options but the food seems fresh and it was very tasty.

Don't let the proximity to the La-Z Boy Showcase and Sears fool you. This is quality food that just happens to be near the local mall. My wife and I have been sneaking off to East Egg after dropping the kids off at school for several months. The location is far from our house in the city, but worth it. While we've had much of the breakfast menu, and enjoy it, what we really keep coming back for is the Eggs Benedict, which are perfect. And if you're not a fan of ham, you can get turkey or veggie. Another thing we like about this -- beware Kalamazoo -- is that the portion sizes are reasonable. I'm a tall guy and even I can't handle the portion sizes around here. Who on earth needs a four-egg omelet? (I'm talking to you Crow's Nest) Not the people in Kalamazoo, especially the people struggling to walk around the mall. To top it off, East Egg serves Water Street coffee, which is dark and rich and a great counterpoint to any breakfast.

My husband and I go out for breakfast every Saturday. We've hit just about every breakfast place in Kalamazoo and the surrounding area. This place had good food and service however I found the area loud and difficult to hold a conversation when just a few people talked next to our table. They need better acoustics.

Affordable prices for very tasty food. I will warn you that if you are a person that likes very large portions, you won't find them here. They serve just the right amount to fill you up. I was blown away by the CORNED BEEF HASH! It was delicious. The only thing I didn't like about this place was the interior. It has sort of a cold feel (metal furniture and ceramic tile). In addition, the tables are not placed very well - you're very close to your neighbor and you have little to no privacy with your group. If the inside were different, I'd be giving this place 5 stars. Very solid breakfast joint in the Portage/Kalamazoo area.

The food was average overall. I had a meatless rueben and , because of the unique sauerkraut, it was very good. The fries are terrible. I sat at the counter and watched the food come out.....it looked typical (although, may taste better than it looks - ??). I also watched a waitress put her bare hand inside the fountain ice dispenser to un-jam ice. She pulled out the ice, put it in a glass and served it to her table. Just gross. Service was very good, though. I asked about their egg source and they use a supplier in MI that uses humane practices with their chickens (Vande Bunte).

We go here often for breakfast. The food is fantastic and the staff are very friendly and efficient. I almost always get the traditional benedict and it's yummy. I have had the artichoke benedict - also great but the traditional is my favorite.

East Egg is inexpensive without an overwhelming portion size. They serve Waterstreet Coffee which is amazing. Their eggs benedict is always made perfect (except the crab cake benedict was not very good). The waitstaff are always friendly and cheerful. I have eaten here many times and always left happy (except for the crabby benedict experience, but that was a personal taste preference). If you like small portion meals for a cheap price then East Egg is a great choice.

My favorite breakfast spot in the Kalamazoo area. They even have lunch for breakfast. Many great choices at a reasonable price. The French Toast is awesome, made from Pineapple bread! Staff is great. Tiffany is always friendly and prompt.

Tried East Egg this past weekend with some friends. The decor didn't really trip my trigger, but the food and service were both excellent. The food was well made and tasted great. The prices are also incredably reasonable! The place was also very clean. Oh, good coffee too! I'll most likely be a repeat customer here from time to time.

Great breakfast, arrived around 8:15. Place began filling at 8:30. Was full from 8:45 when we left. Turn around is pretty quick. Food arrives fast, hot, and prepared just right. Excellent selection of breakfast items. Lunch menu also looked pretty comprehensive. Enough waitstaff to make things run smoothly. It gets a little noisy, but on a scale of 1 - 10, probably an 8. Our waitress was polite, friendly, swift, and pleasant. Out food arrived ASAP. It was hot and very good. The decor was somewhat kindergarden looking. However I went in for breakfast. I got a great breakfast. The place is as clean as a pin. Even the waitstaff station was clean and orderly. Prices were well inline with what we were served.

This a really great breakfast/brunch spot. I can't speak for the lunch yet but I've definitely been very pleased with the breakfast selections. They have good portion sizes at a reasonable price. The coffee is pretty decent (I believe they brew Waterstreet coffee) and the pineapple toast is a must try. It's a very nice change from the normal white or wheat options. The service is very friendly and the decor is vibrant and fun. My only little complaint is the noise can get a little loud. They've got a few sound dampening squares hanging on the ceiling but a few more wouldn't be a bad idea. I wouldn't say this is a huge issue though and I'd still highly recommend this place. I definitely love this place and will continue to go back.
