I really love their home made toast and omelet. It's very different than others. If you come here gull lake. You must try it. Remember Sunday morning will be full of people.

I have been here a couple of times, but the last time was definitely not the best. The waitress was slightly rude and acted like we were wasting her time when we were deciding what to order, then when the food arrived, it wasn't the best. It is a little pricey, but I suppose the quantity is good even if the quality sucks.

The value's there, so I guess that's why I'm giving it four stars. I got the Spartan Omelette... well, I wasn't expecting it to be so damn gigantic. Also, the rye toast I got, seemed to be on steroids. I got fruit instead of hashbrowns (I think for a dollar extra), and got a good portion of fruit. The watermelon had seeds in it, but whatever. The omelette was alright, but it's kind of hard to really screw one up. While Cafe Mali far from had the best breakfast I've ever had, it's quite good, and the portions are gigantic... which I suppose could also be a downside, but none of it's truly expensive. I will say to NOT get the corned beef. I didn't get it, but the waitress said it was canned... yeah, that's sort of nasty...

Huge menu but I haven't had anything I didn't really like. They've got some adventurous stuff too, brisket eggs Benedict for example. Portions are big and prices are cheap, this is a very good spot for breakfast. Wait staff has always been great.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I went for breakfast a couple weeks ago and cannot wait to go back. The food was reasonably priced and everyone enjoyed their meals. I highly recommend the breakfast quesadilla. This is a perfect blend of cheese, chorizo, eggs and vegetables. There was definitely enough to take some home for later. The crepe options look delicious.

Do yourself a favor. Next lunch hour, get here and order the Cobb salad. Yes, I'm a guy and yes, I'm giving a restaurant 5 stars because of a salad. All aspects of this place exceed my expectations, the service is attentive but not overbearing, it's clean but no hospital clean, prices are fair, and portions are very big. The Cobb salad literally comes with what has to be a pound of chicken on top. Tons of protein and veggies and it eats like a meal. I have a huge appetite and I'm always full and the ladies that order lunch in my office routinely make two meals out of their salads or sandwiches. I don't know how this place makes money with their reasonable prices and big portions but I'll keep coming back! Good work!

Went for breakfast at about 10am on a Saturday and the place was packed but we only had to wait a minute or two to be seated. The menu is big and prices are on line with other diners in the area. Despite being busy our food came out quickly. I had an omelet with hashbrowns and toast as well as a full order of biscuits and gravy. Omelet was good and the hashbrowns were nice and crispy. The biscuits and gravy were good, but I don't think they came with enough extra gravy. Most places load up the plate, but there was barely enough to cover the biscuits. Maybe they were running low with as busy as it was? Overall the food and service was good and I will likely go back

Every time we have been to the Kalamazoo airport, I see this place and I think, "We should try that place." And today we finally did! We went here about 10:30 on a Monday morning. The place was about half full, and we were seated immediately. It took me a while to decide what to order since there are a lot of choices!! I ended up getting the Irish benedict, which was good although I wish there was more corned beef hash on it. I could just mildly taste it because of the egg and hollandaise. My husband ordered the pork chops which came with hash browns, 4 eggs (!), and 2 pancakes. Needless to say, we were able to take a lot of food home. Service was great. The prices were reasonable. We also really liked that it was a pretty decent sized place so there was a good amount of space between tables. We will be back!

My new favorite place for breakfast. I love the Spanish skillet and order it every time! Everything else I have tried is also delicious. Portions are huge (always have take home) and service is attentive and kind.

I went for breakfast and was blown away by the portions and the variety of the menu. Crepes, waffles, eggs Benedict, salmon, chorizo -f it can imagine a breakfast they probably have it and a lot of it. I sampled some of the bacon, sausage, and wheat toast and all were good. For myself, I had the blueberry, strawberry, and banana crepes and it was fantastic. The service is just as good as the food. New must stop for breakfast in the Kalamazoo area.

One of the best breakfast places I've been too! It was bustling when we got here but we were seated quickly. We got our coffees right away. The coffee was fresh, tasty, and our cups never empty. We didn't wait long for our food either. I ordered the Irish Benedict, something I never heard of before. 2 poached eggs over corned beef hash and an English muffin. It was filling and yummy. My husband ordered the white forest omelet: egg whites with fresh veggies. And a side if potato pancakes. Everything was so flavorful and unique for an ordinary looking diner. We also got buttermilk pancakes with our order that were fluffy and sweet. The place is clean and full of friendly folks. We would definitely come again.

What a huge menu!!! The menu was enormous with lots of options for everyone. I went for the fritatta which was the size of the plate and came with a side of fruit and toast. The food was nothing special but was still good.

Really fast and friendly. Great good reasonably priced. Very clean and a huge menu. You won't leave hungry.

This place is decent as far as diners go. Nothing to write home about. Service is good. Pretty much a fancier ihop or dennys.

Absolutely fantastic breakfast spot! I would give it more stars if I could. Today was my first time there but I hope to revisit again soon. I got the Nutella crepes and I think I may have found my new favorite breakfast, just writing about it makes me want to go back and get it again! :)

Better than any Denny's or IHOP! Great food and service. I had the Denver omelette & added some mushrooms & cheese. It was huge & delicious (not dry as other reviewer posted). I'm not a local and was just passing through after skiing. I would stop again if back in the area.

Wow! Renovations make for a clean, updated, cheery atmosphere! The menu choices are clever variances on typical breakfast entrees with some unusual new choices. Both times I have been there the wait staff amd other services have been excellent. Their banana bread is to die for!Only recommendation is to offer flavored creamers with your good tasting coffee.

Cafe Meli was great and very happy to have it in the neighborhood! The renovations were tastefully done and the restaurant was very clean. The waitstaff was excellent and the owner came to every table to check on their patrons. The BBQ brisket on a pretzel bun was very good and all lunch's come with soup and fries. They also bring a basket with various breads and crackers with the soup. It was all very very good. Next time looking forward to trying breakfast!!

If you're looking for large helpings of not-so-high-quality food for breakfast than this is your place! Pancakes had a burnt oil taste, the Denver omelette was dry, and the hash browns were so so. The waitress and staff were very nice.

Giving 4 stars even though had to send something back. Interior bright, clean, and as cheerful as the staff. Nice basket of bread, muffins, and crackers to start. Coffee good. Service prompt. Hannah was very engaging with my 6 year old girl. My entree looked good, but smelled "off". At first I thought it was the butter or sauce but after a small "test bite" I was sure I shouldn't eat it. Hannah came over right away after signaling her and took the dish and my order for something else. The replacement came within minutes. She must've apologized at least 3 times. I told her that this was the first time I've sent food back which she replied, "Yeah, being a waitress, I've never done that either, but you were totally right about that dish." Great to admit the mistake; I think a lot of establishments would've argued first. Definitely will go back, either visiting Kalamazoo area or passing by (just off of I-94). Menu is big so lots to try.

Looks can be deceiving. The simple exterior and cozy diner atmosphere may look like "Denny's like", but the menu has amazing choices. The Bananas Bread is an example of a well-balanced richness. French toast with fresh fruit, rich sauce, and a not to dense bread was amazing.

This is the best breakfast I've had in kalamazoo by far in the longest time. Great prices, great service, and a variety of large portions. The Avacado bacon omelette and cheese grits were delicious!

Went here after staying the night in the Hampton in after a show the the State theater. It hit the spot after a light night full of beers. Very clean, the waitstaff was amazing and fast. The food was good but not 5 star. I had the eggs Benedict on the potato pancake and was disappointed that the pancake tasted like it came from a frozen box not homemade.

Torn between a breakfast quesadilla, stuffed French toast and potato pancake benedict, I went with the latter. Eggs were perfect. Hollandaise was glorious, and being accompanied with fresh tomato slices was a perfect balance for a simple but perfectly put together meal. Portions perfect, was able to leave feeling comfortable. Service was perfect and everyone was very friendly. Glad to have another solid breakfast spot in the area.

Yesterday my friends and I were looking for a nice place to go for breakfast that was near the hotel. We found Cafe Meli was right across the street so we decided to stop in. The restaurant was busy but could seat is right away. The server arrive quickly. She didn't introduce herself but, who cares when they get straight to business, right? We all ordered a different variation of their eggs Benedict. Once again, the food arrived in a timely fashion and our nameless server topped off our drinks. The Benedict's all had their own unique taste and were all four agains, so between the three of us we are one dozen eggs; boy the van was smelly that day. The food was all consistently tasty. So there you have it: if you're looking for good breakfast in Kalamazoo, where the server doesn't introduce herself but makes up for it with good service and good food, Cafe Meli is for you.

I went there for breakfast for the first time today. I had the eggs benedict with a potato pancakes. Came warm enough that I had to let it cool off before I could eat it. Had an unusual side of sliced tomatoes?. The coffee was good the service was excellent and the table of was quite clean in that area. I'm looking forward to going back to brunch sometime instead of just breakfast

Have been here several times for breakfast and I love it! Prices are reasonable, service is extremely friendly and personable. As I am a creature of habit, my no fuss order of eggs, bacon, hash browns, and pancakes arrives at my table perfectly every time I have been here. Appearance wise, its definitely a step up from your average greasy breakfast diner.

I have been here twice and each time the service has been magnificent and the food....delightful. I think they have the best pancakes in town. YUM!! Today I had the Chunkey Monkey French Toast....I think even Elvis would have given it a 5 star rating. I will be back!!

Met a girlfriend for breakfast...sat there for 3 hours. They have enough space that we weren't holding up a table that could have otherwise been used. Great waitress, super great food. Good coffee, too! The pancakes smelled amazing, and the stuffed french toast looked really yummy, but my breakfast quesadilla was PHENOMENAL. And absolutely ginormous. Three humongous pieces, I brought one home and had it for breakfast the following day. Reheated in the toaster oven, almost as good as at the restaurant the previous day. Super good food, will definitely be back.
