Yesterday I had a wonderful Dinner at the Restaurant and I think I have found my new favorite restaurant near me. I asked for steamed vegetables with Chicken and no spices and yes that is what I got. It is so difficult to get just vegetables with no spices or sauces from any restaurant that is near Bloomfield Hills. Thanks so much and I look forward to going back today. Being a diabetic it is so difficult eating out and getting a wonderful meal like I got at the Lemon Grass. James Staley Bloomfield Hills Michigan.

Thanks to Lemon Grass's proximity to my school, I come here quite often with large groups of friends to eat lunch, and this restaurant has become somewhat of a staple among our (admittedly infrequent) social outings. I absolutely love Thai food, and I think this place does it pretty well, and also very quickly too! It's a good pick for carnivores and vegetarians alike. The interior is tastefully designed, and the waitstaff service is good. The restaurant is usually pretty bustling during peak lunch hours. If you're bringing a large party (5-9 people), know that there is only about one table in the restaurant that can seat such a number (I think they have to push together two tables for it to work). Because of this, we've had to wait 10-15 minutes a couple times to be seated--but it's, as I've explained, for understandable reasons. For the main course, I always end up getting the pork Pad Thai here. It does not disappoint. Portions are huge and worth the price. The Thai Iced Tea is also good, although far too sweet, so I dilute it with water (technically gives me 50% more of the drink, however, so I guess you could think of it as a weird plus). Complimentary sweet-sour soup is typically served as a starter, and mint chocolate squares at the end with the bill. Overall, a great go-to place for hearty Thai food! I've had takeout a couple times and it's of the same quality as the sit-down food. No complaints.

We love this place, great food, good service but I can see why some people complained about the service as they have only one hard working server. Try the Red Curry - delicious!

I'm a regular... It's best to go in and sit.. I've never had unpleasant food unless I ordered for pickup. .

Just took a large group of ladies here before a concert and everyone raved about the food - almost all newbies! I cant beleive people who dont like this place! We ordered 8 dishes and one was better than the next! My only suggestion... Please add a vegetarian spring roll to your menu. Yum yum!!!

Everything we ate at Lemongrass was delicious. The Tom Yum with seafood was outstanding. We had the Pagoda yellow curry with shrimps. It was as good as I have had anywhere. I am already looking to my next dining experience at Lemongrass.

I've been coming here for a few years now. The food is comparable to most Thai places, but their Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups are very good. The inside dining area is also nicer than most Thai restaurants, and service has always been good.

It was far from awful but I really wasn't impressed, it looked busy in there when I pick up my carryout that was fast. The scallops were so bland, no flavor. but the rest was ok. Try it for your self.

the 1st time we got lunch from here, it was really good. my staff and I thought the food was tasty and fresh. later the same week, i picked up carry out. it was TERRIBLE! pad thai came without chicken when the menu clearly indicated it comes with chicken. when I called to complain, I was told that I have to ask for chicken. the beef noodle soup was greasy, full of fat and gristle!! trying to give it one more chance, my office ordered lunch a few weeks later. the pad thai had NO flavor and the grd beef/ grd chicken cold salad was again full of fat and gristle. will NEVER eat here again!!!

I went back recently and tried again. I cannot explain why it was much better this time, but it was. I had the green curry with chicken (I don't recall the Thai name of this dish) and it was really very good. The dish had hot and sweet green peppers in it and if you are not careful, you can get a hot surprise, but overall the taste of the curry was really nice and portion size was good too. This trip to Lemon Grass was on a Friday and the place was packed to the walls. We had to wait for a table. Maybe Friday lunch is the time to go, huh? Anyway, three of us enjoyed three very nice choices and my lunch mates both said they would go back. So Lemon Grass gets an upgrade.

Cannot understand the low reviews. Tonight was great and "spicy" was really spicy - glad I didn't order "hot" wonder how spicy "native" would be! Great food tonight - I'll be back when I'm in the area.

This is the third time they have messed up our carry-out order. Will NOT be coming back.

They've Lost It! This place used to be good. We'd ordered lunch/dinner carry-out several times in the past and it we were always happy with the quality of our food. But... unfortunately, this place seems to have lost it. The last few times we ordered - they messed up the order and/or the food was nasty. I don't know what happened over the last few months, but I'm not willing to waste time and money to keep going back in hopes that they'll be good again. Too bad. Just not worth it any more.

Haven't even ate here but the woman who answered the phone hung up on me twice, the second time while in the middle of ordering. Thanks! Won't ever try this place now.

I would say this restaurant is average... I am a hard critic bring as I have been to many Thai restaurants... The food was good, but the service is very slow..

I love this place! It's close to my work and delicious. Yes, the prices have been raised by all of a dollar. I believe that they have delivery, if you order $20+ in food and are in a 5 mile radius (don't quote me on this; but it's something around that). I usually order carry-out and I don't understand why there's such horrible reviews on carry-out orders. I grab lunch there 2+ times a month and have never had an item missing or wrong. (And, when I order, I'm usually ordering 2-4 different orders for my office!) I've dined in once or twice and the service is okay. Nothing spectacular, but I'm never ignored. My favorite is the Red Curry and spring rolls (best spring rolls in the area). The Drunken Noodles are...eh.

Please be aware that Lemon Grass refuses to provide soup with your carry out meals. They will charge you the same amount as a dine-in meal where soup is provided. Cannot understand their logic - perhaps it's an effort to collect extra money in drinks and appetizers and tips that soup is provided for dine in customers only. Also be aware that other Thai places nearby do not follow this cheap practice and provide soup with carry out orders

Have been going to Lemon Grass for many years - way back to to when GM TPC was just around the corner. I still consider them one of my favorite Thai Restaurants of all time - which is why I gave it 5 stars. They have several amazing dishes - keep trying until you find the perfect one for you. Some recommendations: - Peanut Curry (Gang Panang) - love this very spicy, my favorite - Shrimp roll - Larb (chicken) - very nice - Apple Salad - lunch soup - only available for lunch, one of my favorite thai soups - Drunken noodles - Thai fried rice - Special Pan Fried Noodles (Pad Se'ew)

This is my new favorite thai spot. It's a little on the pricier side because they serve dinner all day, but I can tell you that it's worth the cost. The food is fresh and flavorful. Full of fresh herbs and their curry is on point. And the tom yum, forget about it. To die for.

I beg to differ with the 3 star rating. Just had supper here and it's not just good food, it's some of the most tasty delicious food I have ever had. Literally. Not to mention the super friendly and attentive staff. If there were more stars I would have maxed them out. Outstanding!

Wanted to like this Thai restaurant as it's very close to home but after 3 attempts, it's just too disappointing. Pad Thai - barely any chicken. Fried rice - minimal vegetable's frozen peas, carrots and that's it. Shrimp curry - Really bad!...tiny baby shrimp and all potatoes. Very salty and old tasting. Sorry, wish you were better. *Peanut sauce was extremely sweet and watery.

Visited here 4 times as it was close and was reasonably priced. Service was very polite and somewhat slow. We thought the food was pretty flavorful at the first visit. At our later visits it seemed to be a bit less flavorful and more just spicy and salty. At our last visit (admittedly many months ago) we again mentioned that we were vegetarians and this time we were told that they use fish oil in most of their products. I don't know if that was a recent change or a longstanding practice. It was disappointing to find this out after so many visits. I don't know what to think because so many items are listed as vegetarian and sound delicious. I would strongly advise you to be firm about any type of food allergies or restrictions. If you do not have such restrictions, you'll probably be able to find something you'll like here as I think that the selection is outstanding and reasonably priced at $9-$10 per entree.

I've eaten here twice now and both times I wasn't impressed. The first time I had their green curry which is always my first choice when having Thai. Theirs was tasteless and didn't have much sauce. Tonight I had their lemon grass chicken, figured it had their name on it so it had to be good. But it was pounded thin, smelled bad and tough as leather. Definitely won't go back here.

The worst Thai I have had. Ordered Gaeng Daeng and Tom Yum soup (usually my favorites). Both were greasy and overly salty, cilantro was over cooked, and mushrooms were stale. On a positive note, the portions were huge and the service was friendly. Still, I would not return. This is not fresh, authentic Thai.

I've been going to this restaurant, almost weekly, for about ten years. I used to come every week and order Pad Se'ew or Pad Thai, often with beef or chicken. I never had a bad order, not once. Once I went vegetarian (and now vegan), I switched it up and started getting Phad Prig, which is incredible in every sense of the word. It's been years now and I almost exclusively order that. I've had friends sample everything on the menu, from the soups (the portions are huge) to the duck (which has gotten fantastic reviews in my circle.) I'd say in ten years, I've been disappointed probably thrice. The atmosphere inside is fantastic. In just the last few years the walls have been painted, more tact-ful pictures have been hung, and the tables have been covered in glass. What started out as a hole in the wall has become a beautiful spot to get lunch or dinner, especially since the food is delicious but it's rarely busy. Take-out usually takes less than 10 minutes (same with dine-in, it's incredible how fast it comes out, even special orders!) and the staff are incredibly polite. I've never had a bad dine-in experience. I don't know what I'll do if they ever move or go out of business because this has been, and will remain, my favourite restaurant in all of Oakland County. Maybe in all of Michigan. P.S. I get "mild" every time I go, because I'm sensitive to spice. The few times I've bumped up to medium (thinking I'd be brave), my mouth was on fire. I've seen people from Thailand come in and get "hot" and then have to stop eating because it's too hot. Definitely not skimpy on the spices!

The family and I have been patronizing Lemongrass for 3 years...we were truly disappointed with the service and the food. The person working tonight, December 28, 2012, was either new, or really didn't give a darn about pleasing his longtime customers. My husband took his food back and got a refund and went to Burger King. We will never, and I mean never, give them another dime of or money. We were already starting to complain, but this just put the icing on the cake. Now on to better things.

Food is ok but watch your bill. I was charged more for my entree and my pop then what the menu said. When I asked the manager/owner, he said they needed to update the menu and kind of blew me off. I told him I was only going to pay what the menu said and if he wants to increase his prices, he'll have to change the menu. The waitress was there as well and as he continued to argue with me, I told him it would just come out of her tip, even though I was bluffing. He eventually relented on the overage.

Went there for the first time a few weeks ago, and got the drunken noodles with chicken. They were pretty good, super colorful and flavored well. I got take out today - exact same order - and the food was SUPER SALTY and sad looking. The chicken was dry and tasted kind of sketchy, and the few veggies were limp and oily. Ugh. I'm super bummed bc I was hoping this could be my "go-to" thai place for work lunches, but the consistency just isn't there.

Although I must say their food is good I will never go there again. I ordered carry out for 8 of us at work. When they told me the prices I questioned it because it was too high. They said they raised their prices by a dollar. I told them I got the menu online and the prices weren't changed on there. I asked if they could honor the online price and they said no. They didn't even offer to comp me a couple meals. I told them it was bad business to charge more when the website didn't reflect the change. When I went to pick it up they hadn't even made the orders. I was told they didn't know I still wanted it. I never told them I didn't. I never got an apology for anything. I had to wait til they made the orders since I had hungry people back at work. Very disappointed.

Starting my sophomore year in high school I would hang out with friends at Lemon Grass. The first time I went I had the RN5 with beef (Pad Se'ew). Lunch first comes with a tasty soup. I'm not normally one for spice to begin with but this was definitely heated. The noodles were flavorful with lots of good sauce to go with it. The beef I fully enjoyed the meal and have been back and have tried various things. They have good pad thai. Lunch was fairly inexpensive for thai. I believe I paid around $10-12 for lunch. Dinner is slightly more expensive. A few weeks back I had their takeout during lunch. I ordered my standard RH5 with Beef. The noodles were dry, broccoli overcooked and the beef tasted...stringy to say the least. Needless to say I haven't been back. Many people I have talked to have said their quality has dropped. Final Verdict: Atmosphere is nice. Decent decor although the lighting is quite dark in the evening. Used to be so much better, food is slightly less than passable.

Do NOT order take out from this place. They never get it right. My wife just got home with dinner and one of the containers was actually empty. We used to like the food here but something has changed...for the worse. Come to think of it...I might prefer eating the empty box. Too bad yelp won't let me give them no stars.

i liked it - basic thai food carry out dishes - well prepared with fresh ingredients. i would definitely go back and try more things. not open on sundays or for lunch on saturdays :(

SLOW service. The food is decent. Attempt take-out only if you have time to wait when you arrive to pick up your food. If you're in a rush, this is not the place.

    (3)
  • Ellen C.

The food is decent, and it's not a bad atmosphere. I'd say just-your-average-Thai-place and nothing to go out of the way to have. Seriously, if you're out in Michigan just head over to Bangkok Cuisine in downtown Rochester. It's not bad if you're a student in the area and need something quickly though. The people tend to be friendly, and the Pad Se-Ew isn't half bad.

I've gotten almost exclusively takeout from here...ate in only once the 4 years I was around. Probably because if we were at work on weekends or at night, we'd often phone in an order & then someone would go pick it up--sorry, no delivery. Hee-hee--I'd usually volunteer to go pick it up if the weather was nice (and it wasn't too busy),...my chance to escape & go outdoors....a nice,oh, about 20-25 minute break, if you're stuck on lockdown, oops I mean, at work for 24 hours. Good take out food close to work always makes life better! I usually got the fresh rolls (I like the dipping sauce) and some noodle dish...pad thai or rad na or pad see ew. Located in a strip mall on the west side of Opdyke between Square Lake and South Blvd.
