I'm trying to figure out how I feel about this place. I want to like it but I really don't know if I do. I feel like I've probably eaten here more than any other place in Plymouth but this is because its the fall back option when you have to wait forever elsewhere on a Friday or Saturday night. Pros: They do have a decent selection of beer Cons: It just isn't luxurious and feels a little dirty When you walk in your greeted quickly... by the aroma of a stinky cheese. Originally that's what I thought. Maybe it was from a cheese. Maybe it is from a cream sauce or dip; however, I'm starting to lean with it being from carpeting in a restaurant. I don't know why they have carpeting, but they do and it just comes across as grimey. You are then greeted promptly by their hostess and it's usually a very nice girl and you get a seat quite quickly! The food options cover a wide array of tastes, which always kind of worries me because then you have to contemplate how fresh is this food. The complimentary bread sticks definitely do a good job of scratching an itch. You will probably need to request some of their bland sauce to complete them though. I've had the fire cracker shrimp (only one time and for a reason.) The sauce isn't very balanced and ruins the shrimp. The michigan apple salad would be the only thing I had that I would reorder. The ribs are forgettable. Mac and Cheese is insanely rich, which you expect but the flavor doesn't justify the insane amount of calories. I was pretty silly and ordered the spaghetti and meat sauce as a side one time... don't make that mistake. I've seen someone slip on the floor by the bar numerous times. It happened when the owner (maybe manager) was right there and it doesn't seem to be a priority to them. I fear for the lives of anyone older than 50 walking on that floor because it's definitely a hazard. If anyone I'm with ever falls there I will be very upset. I shouldn't have to fear for my life when walking to the bathroom or putting in my trivia answer. Proceed with caution or consider it their indoor ice skating rink. I find it hard to recommend this place to anyone. If you do find yourself in Plymouth, maybe stop by for a drink as you wait for your reservation elsewhere. The food is subpar but beer selection isn't too bad at all.

I have been a long-time guest of this restaurant and despite newer entrants to downtown Plymouth, EG Nick's is still a place to gather with friends. On a recent evening, I stopped in to help celebrate a friend's birthday. While we enjoyed oven-baked bread and butter, we caught up with each other's lives and reviewed the menu. The menu includes many familiar items. My favorites here include the coconut shrimp, planked whitefish, and ribs. We decided on the Bang Bang shrimp to start: small shrimp that is coated and fried and then covered in a mayo/Thai sweet and hot chili sauces. While the white fish with the wreath of piped mashed potatoes is particularly tasty, I went with the hearty pork shank, instead. The braised pork was fork-tender, with the meat melting onto the bed of mashed potatoes. It is served with mixed vegetables of sautéed green beans, zucchini disks, green pepper slices, onions, and mushrooms and served with an earthy sauce; the meal was comfortingly good. Dessert was okay; I only had a few bites of the key lime pie and the remainder continues to sit in my fridge (9 days later). Less okay was the complimentary birthday brownie sundae where the ice cream had melted. My friend was good natured about it (she has such a positive outlook), but I was inwardly dismayed that it was served to her. She indicated that she liked the brownie and polished it off. Service was good.

I have been traveling to various states and cities recently and have just made my way to Michigan. Upon walking around cute downtown Plymouth, we noticed that a lot of places to eat were closed on a Monday, which seemed a bit odd. Anyways, we decided on this restaurant and sat outside. Our waitress was attentive with getting our drink order. When the mojito arrived it wasn't really made properly. There was one mint leaf in it and I looked very watery. I ordered a steak salad. It was really good but didn't have much steak on it and it was mostly ice berg lettuce, which I could just simply chop on my own. Basically, take notice to the previous yelp reviews of only 2 stars and maybe eat somewhere else.

Was at EG Nicks to hear the fabulous Big Ray and the Motor City Kings on Friday night. Terrific band! Wonderful bartender, believe her name is Deann? Alas, the food I ordered was inedible, a Caesar salad with chicken. Guess I did not read the small print as this salad did not resemble a classic Caesar in any way, shape or form. Loaded with sliced onions, soggy red pepper pieces, old tasting lettuce (the kind that has been sitting in musty water) about a cup of croutons (what!) and about ONE-SIXTH of a cup of teeny pieces of some sort of processed chicken. It was appalling, and I threw it away. Should have asked for my $12 back but was with people in the tent enjoying the music. Very, very sad that they would call that a Caesar or even think of serving such a sub-standard mess.

I enjoy going to E.G. Nick's. The service is great always timely, and food is overall great. Highly recommend this place for a girls night out, a night on the town, or for families. The drinks are also delicious.

It's been a very long time since I visited this restaurant, so I along with a friend decided to go back and have our favorite menu items. We were seated in the bar area and waited close to 10 minutes for our drinks. Then finally the order was taken, about 30 minutes later, wouldn't you know it, we got our food, finally! We didn't let it ruin our night because we were deep into our conversation, but once the food came, it went absolutely down hill from there. I ordered a simple salad but minus the bacon and it was loaded with bacon. My friend ordered a greek salad with steak done med, came back well done t. How do you possible mess up either one of those salads. I couldn't eat my salad with the bacon so I sent it back and asked for the manager. My friend was upset but so hungry that he continued to eat his salad minus the steak. I asked our server Debbie to get the Manager, Chris came over and you can tell the hesitation on his face, like oh great again! I explained to him the problem of my salad then the other salad. He literally just stood there with this dumb look on his face, obviously showing me that he didn't know how to do his job. The more he stood there sounding like an idiot, the angrier I was getting. Instead of giving me the menu to pick something out, he's arguing with me on when we put the time in for our order. The main focus is customer satisfaction. This visit alone has shown me that they are struggling to keep this restaurant which was once a little hidden gem in Plymouth to going to be shut down perhaps by the end of summer or sooner. They once took time and pride into making their guests feel as if they were appreciative. So many guests will not come back due to the unqualified management staff. I sure will never return and nor recommend it to no one to give that place a try.

Came here with co-workers for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. This place has a nice vibe to it. Nice menu selection. I ordered the pot roast nachos appetizer and it was huge. At that point, there was no need to order a meal. It was delicious. The service, the drinks, everything was wonderful. Will definitely return.

A very satisfying meal. This was not our first visit to EG's, but maybe my first review. We have always enjoyed a good experience here. This time I ordered the lobster bisque soup and as an entrée, their version of "bang-bang" shrimp. Both were very good. The bang- bang was not as good as Bonefish's but close, and worth the order. The shrimp is a little high in breading and the shrimp is smaller---still good. My wife had an apple/ chicken salad/ and said it was great---she only had a half salad and it was big. We will be back.

Well after reading the prior reviews and in particular the low rated reviews, I feel that we (my wife and I, and friends) are extremely lucky or that they were unlucky. We ate at E,G. Nicks three times in the last two weeks and we had three great experiences. Entrees from all over the menu were brought out hot and correct. We had great service all three times and the last two times, Emily was our server and she really did a great job. We're looking forward to our next visit.

Not really a public house and not really a sports bar. I'm confused about what type of theme they are going for in the dining area. The bar is setup like it would be a pub but a low-grade one. They're food is mediocre at best.

I had hoped the reviews were wrong when my brother planned a dinner with some friends here... The restaurant was incredibly slow for a Saturday night during the holidays. Apparently everyone already knows to avoid this place. We were seated quickly but from seating to bill, we spent an entire hour and a half there, and for no other reason than painfully slow service. I wish I had kept track of how long it took us to get stuff from time of order! On top of snail-like service, the bread basket came and there were raw dough rolls! Seriously?! Someone had to put that in there like that! When I pointed it out to the waitress (not angry, just wanted to tell her so she wouldn't serve it like that to others) she took it away and was unapologetic. I started with a cup of the turkey chili which simply was not good; while a little spicy, the consistency was thin and watery, maybe the last of the pot. I had the apple orchard salad for dinner which was a bowl of iceberg lettuce topped with way too many dried cranberries, kraft-like shredded cheese, chicken with NO flavor, a few apple slices, and it was missing the "toasted nuts." It really had no flavor at all. Two at my table ordered the fish tacos and they laughed at how bad they were as they tried to eat them. Two others ordered burgers and seemed to be happy enough with them. We spent the drive home talking about how bad it was. I don't know how this place stays in business as a restaurant, especially in a place like Plymouth. Oh, and my fork had food in it. Another delightful detail of my experience. Bad food and slow service. I don't think you could pay me to go back here. Don't waste your time or money.

I always suggest E.G. Nicks first when going out to eat. I absolutely love this restaurant! My favorite place in Plymouth! I normally do not get salmon but the server really sold it so I decided to give it a try, Yum! Their shrimp tacos, house salad, steak, chicken wings, and French onions soup are some of my favorite things. Also, I have never met a server here that I didn't like. Friendly, fast, and knowledgable! Can't wait to go back!

Food was cold, my lobster bisque was so salty It was Inedible, our waiter was incredibly rude, we waited an hour and 15 minutes for our food in a non-crowded restaurant. The manager was excellent in helping out the issues, but the prices of their food were super high and the quality was mediocre at best.

Went in during the Plymouth Chili Festival. Got a seat on their nice outdoor patio - since the restaurant wasn't too busy, due to the rain putting a damper on the Festival, we figured we'd order a few drinks, and some snacks. Ten minutes passed, no waitstaff, no nothing.....so, we got up and left. As we were walking out, the same 4-5 staffers who had their butts parked on the half height wall in front of the Lion's game on the big screen, were still there, mouths open like fish, gazing mindlessly at the TV - apparently none of them wanted to take our order either. Come on EG Nick's, you're better than this. It's one thing to disappoint out of towners, but pissing off the natives is a big no-no.

Arrived at the hostess podium and we were seated quickly, we read the menus and everything sounded delicious so we made our order , waitress arrived and my fiancé asked what's the soup of the day and the waitress replied with ummm we ran out of that yesterday, what kind of answer is that. Isn't the whole "soup of the day" aspect is to just pick a different soup every day. Anyways we continued and ordered the lobster bisque ,which we each took a couple bites out of it and both agreed that it tasted like socks. (It's would of been nice if it was removed from are bill because both bowls clearly weren't touched) So moving on blah blah blah service was slow yadda yadda we received our appetizers we ordered their potato chip dish that came covered in Alfredo sauce, green onions, and blue cheese, the chips were freshly made and delicious the Alfredo and blue cheese was different but some how all worked together so my mood was definitely shifted after the stupid reply the waitress made earlier. ok life is good we finally get our main courses oh wait by the way my girl got salad for her appetizer too and said it was great she also minuses all the veggies and just eats lettuce and ranch. Now back to the the real food, the waitress returned with a beautifully plated twin filet mignons laid across some mashed potatoes and she brought the Demi mushroom onion glaze on the side like I asked for. So I cut into one filet and it's cooked well done but I'm starving so I'm going to eat it anyways so what better way to loosen up a tight overcooked steak drown it in some sauce Boom! it worked but I also wouldn't call it a Demi glaze try a mushroom onion gravy with a fancy name, but I continue to eat it thank god the other steak wasn't cooked as much or I would of flipped the table, so now my last chance of happiness is the ultimate Mac and cheese that I'm going to Bogart from the girl .... So I thought , epic let down chicken in the Mac was tuff and the cheese sauce was mediocre at best if I had 5 thumbs I would turn them all down. in all honesty the best thing this place has going for them was there fresh bread and butter and their adorable fruit flies I will not return again.

Came in here for a bday party a few weeks back. We had a table of about 12-15 people so it was no small feat for the server. She did seem a little overwhelmed. It probably didn't help that we were all drinking and ordering drinks at different times, so I have to cut her a little slack. I ordered the salmon and it was very good. I also tried the pot roast nachos that someone else ordered. They were good, but not as rave-tastic as the person made them out to be. Overall...not a bad experience, but nothing to run back to this place for either.

Food was terrible. Greasy with weird flavor combinations. Drink some bottled beer and you will be safe. Did I say Stay away from the food. Service was fine. Generally there are much better places for lunch in Plymouth on a Saturday afternoon.

I wanted to go here after seeing their cool vodka ice bar during the ice fest on the morning news.. They had a shot ski and an ice luge. Svedka vodka was the sponsor and had a couple specialty drink mixes which were pricey and ok at best. The Svedka girls were mingling in the crowd handing out specialty cups, hats, and other trinkets which was cool.. I'm pretty sure the outside deck was waaaaay beyond capacity as we looked like sardines packed together. I was excited to try the luge, but due to the warmer than usual weather it had melted quite a bit and they shut it down. So we then decided to do a shot ski.. Come to find out after the fact, the bartender charged us (me and my bf) for all four shots and the other couple we did it with for their two shots..not cool at all!!!!!! For dining at a table inside we were told would be an hour and fifteen minute wait..understandable with the ice fest going on, but when we walked through we saw several empty tables..?? The bathroom was gross. It looked like it hadn't been tended to for days and there were paper towels piled up out of the garbage can and all over the floor.. The dispenser was out of towels and there was a paper towel roll sitting in some water on the counter.. Ewwww!!! I couldn't get out of there fast enough!!! We ventured out back to the party tent which had a $2 cover with a band. The band was great! A variety of cover tunes which prompted a lot of dancing. We met the owner - he was bartending in the tent, he seemed down to earth and super friendly. Had I known about the double charge earlier (shot ski) at that point, I would have told him...unfortunately the other couple didn't mention it until later.. We didn't eat here, just enjoyed the party.. Clean up your bathroom puhleeeez!!!!

I was far from impressed with this restaurant. When my date and I got to the restaurant we were quickly seated but that was the extent of the speed and service. When we got there we were seated outside on the patio. It was nice out, but I felt as though there were way too many tables for the amount of space they had. We were sitting close to everyone it felt like. I'm not a guy who is claustrophobic - I just don't want someone else's elbow on my table when they put their wrists on theirs. With four or five staffers serving about 15 guests, there were a lot of people on that patio for sure. After the waiter finally took our food and drink order, things took quite some time to get. After finally getting the meal, the food was mediocre at best. I ordered the chicken mac and cheese. The chicken has a grilled LOOK to it, but it's boiled or pan fried and the pasta noodles tasted pretty familiar - like Kraft Mac and Cheese. There was nothing special about this meal. My date got a steak salad with two pieces of meat and a lot of leaves. I understand, it's a salad, but you should have more than two bites of meat though. Getting refills (or the bill to pay and leave) isn't this place's specialty either. If you have options in Plymouth, don't go here. Not the worst meal I've had, but Plymouth has to have better!

Never should have changed the pizza to flatbread. They used to have the best pizza!! Now pizza is just meh. Haven't been back since. Our family used to visit on a weekly basis. Changed the menu - also not good.

My hubby and I stopped here for a quick bite while out in Plymouth. We ate at the bar, thinking it would be faster service, and we mentioned that we were in a hurry. I ordered the "famous ribs" or some such item, and my hubby had the quesadilla. Now, the ribs were so-so, nothing stand out about them. They really didn't taste like they had been dry rubbed or anything fancy besides dumping bbq sauce on them. But the truly disappointing thing was the quesadilla. It was so full of stuff that it was soggy and had no crispy parts. When I envisioned it, I thought it would be a nice flat, crunchy meal. Wrong. I was so disappointing. Now, if you like burritos, it was kind of like a flat burrito, so maybe you would enjoy it more than I did. We agreed we would NOT return to this place when Plymouth has so many other offerings.

Went here with a buddy to watch the Lions playing in London, the bar opened early this day. For $30, I got 5 drink tickets and a brunch buffet. The food was decent enough, typical brunch fixings with bar food. Bbq ribs, wings, pizza, etc, not great but filling. The best part? Seeing the Lions come from behind to win 22-21, go Lions!

Pot Roast nachos are amazing. Ribs are really good as well. Breadsticks fantastic. Rest of the menu just ok. Seems a bit over priced for what you get. Recommend you try it based on above food suggestions.

UUUUUCCCCKKKK!! That pretty much says it all. However, as a favor to those who might still wander in to this place, let me elaborate. I've had better food at a hospital and on airplanes. My husband and I are always looking for a new spot. We hadn't tried this place in years... so couldn't remember why we don't eat there. well, it came rushing back. The service was slow, with half the staff (including the manager) standing around the hostess podium for most of the time we were there. The waitstaff will not clear an empty plate if you are not in their section. They walk around with blinders on. With that said, good food can help you overlook poor service. However, there's no chance of that here. I ordered the whitefish, and my husband got the Boston Blue (heavily coated whitefish that is deep fried). They do themselves a disservice by referring to their whitefish as "the best whitefish in lower Michigan," setting themselves up for failure. Honestly, my fish was no covered in paprika (or something like that) and overcooked that if I were blindfolded, I never would have known that I wasn't eating sawdust. The vegetables were nondescript. How do you remove flavor from sauteed veggies? They do it. I had never met a potato I didn't like until I ate here. OUR waitress removed our plates of half eaten dinners (which appeared invisible to those waiters that passed by as our plates sat pushed aside for 10 minutes) whiteout batting an eye. No we don't want doggie bags. I love my pets and wouldn't subject them to this. Maybe the waitress is used to the patrons not eating most of their dinner. Needless to say, it'll take a few more years for us to forget again why we never eat here.

I've lived in Plymouth for years and for some reason have not eaten at E.G. Nick's. I love Plymouth and the restaurants here, so my sister and I figured we'd give this place a whirl for dinner after work last week. Sadly, I was disappointed. :-/ The setup inside is great, and it has a ton of potential to be a really good restaurant, but that was not the case. Our waiter just seemed very sad, and he looked away every time he talked to us and when we were ordering. That turned me off from the place almost immediately. In fact, most of the people we saw who worked there looked bored and sad. It made me feel bored and sad. The food was just mediocre (I got the chicken tenders and fries). If you've got a restaurant in a prime location in Plymouth, you've got to make it awesome! Like I said, the setup was really nice, but the atmosphere and feel of the place were not fun or inviting. :( I don't think I will be coming back, unfortunately. :-/

I came here with my wife and friends to watch the Michigan vs. Northern Dame game. We are sitting at the bar and we are still waiting for our food. I would understand if we ordered dinners but we got appetizers. It's is now 8pm and we sat at their bar at 7pm. I do not understand why it takes this long to make appetizers. Well hope people read the review because I am still waiting for my appetizers as I'm typing this.

Was in Plymouth on a Saturday night, enjoying some of my favorite Thai food and in desperate need of place to watch the Wings game. Based on location alone, we walked into E.G. Nicks in Plymouth, looking for seats at the bar and televisions to watch. Sometimes, the stars align or you just get really damn lucky because we ended up finding the last two bar seats, right in front of a TV and had a great time. I am not sure if the night we went was typical for a Saturday night but within the three hours we were there, we were given a canvas Red Wings bag each, a shot glass on a bead necklace and two sombrero hats. I like free stuff so I was happy. Also had a delicious Grey Goose Cosmo and tried my first Gin Gimlet. Yummy. Overall, the bartenders were nice and proficient and the atmosphere was fun while watching the game. There is an local feel, older crowd vibe to this place but it wouldn't stop me from wandering into E.G. Nicks again. PS- try the "mini beer" shot. Not beer, so cute!

Good food, super friendly service. The staff are all very welcoming, but do not go here if you're in a rush!!! The service is on the slow side, not horrendous... but still slow. They have daily specials and a menu that is continually evolving. Nice drink specials and special events.

I'm bewildered by the bad reviews for this place. I've been here several times when I'm visiting Michigan and getting together with friends. I've had something different each time and it's always been delicious. There are usually between 6 to 8 of us for dinner and we've always had exceptional service. I had dinner here last night. Everyone at the table ordered something different and everyone enjoyed their meal. What particularly impressed me was that one member of our party is vegan and the kitchen went out of their way to accommodate her requirements, including baking bread sticks without butter.

Hello all! Hey this place has a pretty good menu and the prices aren't awful. The food is pretty good for the most part...but the best thing about it is that they have great outdoor seating for the Summer! I love going there and having a meal and a glass of wine, it's wonderful! They even have Mosquito repellent candles (but don't sit near those, they smell awful!!). So all in all, you'll have fun going in a group and sipping drinks, chatting with your friends and eating some of the Quesadilla's or the Apple Orchard salad "mmmm" very yummy! The baked penne with meatballs is really wonderful too and very "cheezy" if you like cheese! I'd like to add that after a day of shopping around the cute little town of Plymouth, MI; you'll want a nice place to stop for dinner and this could be a good choice. They have much to offer on the menu and even many different varieties of Cultural foods!! There's the "Italian", "Mexican", "American"* (great cheeseburgers) and even some good looking "kiddie meals" for a very cheap price! The ambiance is dark and the staff is very friendly! This is definitely a great choice for the little town Of Plymouth, MI and though I wouldn't call it a "mom 'n pop" restaurant; I would still say it has a great atmosphere for after a trip out with the "girls" or the "guys"! Especially while it is spaced well on Forrest Ave in town where almost all of the "action" is!

My husband and I love this place! The main restaurant is huge, and they've got a nice (albiet small) patio that opens up to a lovely view of downtown Plymouth. The food has always been really great and reasonably priced, they've got a good drink & beer selection, and the staff has always been nice. We are excited to have this become one of our regular spots!

Hadn't been to EG Nick's since I was in the midst of the bar/bat mitzvah scene in the early 90's (West Bloomfield location). Hubby and I stopped in for a quick bite to eat after canoodling around d-town Plymouth. What a tasty surprise! I had a half salad ( the southwestern) and hubby had the alfredo carbonara with bacon. I couldn't finish my salad, I was very pleased with the portion size and the home made cilantro ranch was one of the best I've had. His pasta was very rich, creamy and full of flavor - much better than any of the pasta dishes we've had at nearby Compari's. We sat on the patio, nice little spot! Hope to go back again soon and explore the wine list.

It's just ok. They have upgraded the atmosphere a little by adding the outdoor patio, but the food is just still ok. Everyone is always friendly and attentive, and it's sort of a local hangout. I've just had better in Plymouth. I'd agree with Liz, the food is really basic whitebread. Nothing to write home about. I also kind of feel like I'm going to see my old teachers from high school in corduroy elbow patched jackets, conspiring in the back. I'm not sure why.

Atrocious service, Sub-par food. I reserved the front section of E.G. Nicks for a group of 30 visiting out-of-town friends and family. I had arranged several months prior for a simple pizza buffet, a few family style salads, and beer & wine for the guests. I also made it clear on 3 separate occasions (the last time less than a month before the dinner) that we were not to be seated in their small semi-winterized patio area, as it would be far too small for the group. Upon arriving to the restaurant we were, of course, ushered into the cramped patio area where we were forced to move the tables around just for access to the seats, and once everyone was seated we were all locked in place, uncomfortably jammed into the small room. I was determined to make the best of the situation, after all the discomfort of cramped seating is nothing that a few drinks and some slices of pizza won't remedy. It was at that point that the service started it's decent into ineptitude. Trapped against the wall, I could only watch as the ONE server that was assigned to our large group slowly made his way around the room taking one drink order, retrieving the order form the bar, then moving on to the next guest. Never taking more than 2 drink orders at a time, unlike literally any other restaurant where a server would take several orders at a time and bring them back on a tray. The salads came out after an hour. They were plated rather than the requested family style, further slowing down service. We were forced to pass down salads all around the room and then pass the empty plates back because the server could not walk freely around the room to serve us. The pizzas that we had ordered 2 weeks in advance came out TWO hours after we had arrived and consisted of approximately 40% crust. Again we had to pass pizzas from one end of the room to the other. Most of the guests were so fed up with the service they only had one slice and were ready to leave. Waiting for the Cafeteria-grade food was a waste of time and money. Overall, management set-up the bungling staff for failure.

So I went here with three friends today. I had been previously and enjoyed it. I ordered Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos. I had ordered them on my last visit 2 weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed them. I don't know what went wrong. I'm not sure if it was just a case of bad/old frozen shrimp or if the chef really did just over cooked them. It was horrendous. Like chewing on rubber. When a server came by to refill our drinks I asked her if she could take my plate. I (politely) explained that they where inedible, terribly over cooked. The whole time I was talking this woman simply would not acknowledge me. It really was strange. She kept filling drinks and taking things from the table but not once looked at me or gave any indication that she was listening to me. She walked away and I had no idea if she was going to tell anyone or not. So finally another server comes by with our checks and I mention it to her. She goes on to tell me that the manager is in the kitchen now eating my lunch that I returned to the kitchen. She said he's eating the entire leftover meal and it's fine, nothing wrong with it at all. So here's what I have to say if he thinks rubber shrimp is fine then he's in the wrong business. Also, urghhhhh how revolting eating all of my leftovers. He doesn't know me from a bar of soap. I could have sneezed all over that plate (I didn't) and he's eating it. So today at EG Nicks my friends and I received below average food and service. Which sucks for them b/c Plymouth has loads more places for us to visit so we don't need to go back for that rubbish.

Went for the first time during ladies night downtown, Not busy at all, First got squished into a little booth, then asked to move to a table, really warm, no air circulation. Waiter only had about 3 other tables, had to ask about specials, ordered drinks and meals & sis in law ordered app. Got drinks , asked again for water. Aboout 20 min later got food no app, asked about app,, he didn/t remember us ordering one, was going to order it. we said forget it , food was already there. Food disappointing, not bad, just expected better for all the hype about the places & the prices. Would not recommend, hate to say this but had better at some of the coneys around town & I really don't like going to coneys. On the upside someone else in my party picked up the tab, no one was impressed. Should have stuck to all the free samples at the shops throughout town.

I don't know what it is about this place but every meal I have ever eaten in here makes me nauseous within a couple of hours. People love it in town but I just do not. People will invariably drag us here though. Flavors are basic, there is nothing special about the place and I just find it overpriced for the quality. You do not get huge portions or anything and it just is blah, the kind of food you keep eating because your taste buds are hunting for some hint of flavor, surely there must be some flavor in it right? Alas you will not find it. Perhaps that leads to the nausea... Atmosphere is really nice, service always seems fine. It's clean and comfortable. The freebie bread is always fresh and tasty. That is as much praise as I can heap on the place though. So much better to be had in walking distance.

Let me say that we went for the breadsticks, and the did not disappoint! However breadsticks do not make a dining experience. We were seated outside which was nice- however, our waitress was consistently MIA. When she did check on us, it was the overly-friendly routine because she knew she was not checking in on us enough- and the place was fairly empty. This place was one of my favorites grewing up when it was in West Bloomfield. It's hard for me to compare because now that I am vegan- it's probably not a good place to eat. My girl got lasagna- it looked microwaved and greasy. My son got the kids pizza- again looked microwaved and nasty. I don't get what the point of having a restaurant to serve frozen microwaved meals and charge $13 a pop!?! I might as well stay home. I got some kind of apple salad with no meat- all iceberg lettuce and not a decent portion. I was really disappointed in EG Nicks of Plymouth and wish they were as good as they used to be back in the day. There are a lot of other great dining places in Plymouth to waste your time with bad service and microwaved meals, even though the ambience is pretty ok (sports bar-like with outdoor seating.) Do yourself a favor and pick a different place in Plymouth. I just read other reviews and realize there is A PROBLEM WITH THEIR SERVICE! If many people all write how they have to wait forever to get their food while waitstaff stands around and ignores the customer, then someone doesn't read the reviews or just doesn't care. Take that into account before spending your money here!

Things have not improved at E.G. Nick's. The staff is friendly enough but something is amiss in the kitchen. It took at least 25 minutes to get our bread - and the food came immediately after we got 3 SMALL pieces of bread nuggets for a family of 3. (We didn't complain but the guy apologized and said our waiter would bring more later.) Our food came about 30 minutes after ordering. I had the roasted veggie lasagna (a "special") and it was okay. There were definitely some strange textures in the lasagna - like dried pieces of peppers or something that were getting stuck in my teeth??? My daughter got the mac&cheese which is made with smoked gouda. She LOVES mac&cheese. She took 1 bite and spit it out. To be fair, she's only 19 months old, but mac&cheese from the kid's menu is our go-to food when at restaurants...so we asked for more bread and the waiter made it seem like he had to sneak out another 2 small nuggets. My husband did love the macaroni and cheese so it wasn't wasted. :-) Lastly, this place is not kid friendly. Yes, they have high chairs and booster seats but the kid's menu is on a post card and they do not offer crayons. When I went to change my daughter in the bathroom, the stall with the changing table was marked "out of order" and the door was locked. So I guess the changing table is out of order too? On my way back from the bathroom, a waiter dropped an entire bottle of beer by the hostess stand. That was kind of humorous to see the two dressed up, cute girls get splashed and customers had to walk through the puddle in their high heels.

I don't understand how a place can charge $8-$9 for a burger and have a house salad that basically came out of a bag. No effort what so ever. Rotten iceberg lettuce, overload on cheese and tortilla chips, hardly no cucumbers or tomatoes. Good bread.. That was fresh.

I had dinner with two friends. The service was excellent. The food was decent--not four star quality, but we didn't pay four star prices, either. I had the mac and cheese with chicken and bacon--very cheesy and very filling. One friend had pasta with chicken and artichokes, which she raved about. The other had salmon with mashed redskins--she liked it, although her "mixed vegetables" were almost certainly from a freezer package. We shared an appetizer of tempura-coated Brie with a berry sauce, which was surprisingly good. My only real complaint was the cleanliness--or lack thereof. The bread container had clearly not been washed for a while--yuck. That alone was enough to make me think I probably won't go back.

Diners beware, if you get a salad with your dinner, it's not included.. it's "discounted" to $2.79 .. OMG, it's a couple leaves of iceberg and a couple grape tomatoes .. give me a break. Oh, but if you order the salad by itself.. it's $5.79 !!! And if you complain and ask to talk to the manager, you get the "floor manager" who smilingly tells you, so sorry, they told your friend with the dinner it was an extra $2.79 for the "side salad", but when you order, "the same" salad.. they don't tell you the price is almost $6!! I mean, it's a little tiny plate, and there's not even any meat or cheese on it ... oh, and have a good holiday .... grrrr

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I have friends who like EG Nicks, so I unfortunately find myself here more often than I'd like. The food is bland, predictable, and often verging on inedible. At my last ill-starred visit, we had terrible service (we were given lunch menus instead of dinner and the wrong specials list, and it took forever to get dinner menus and the correct list of specials thanks to our very ditzy and odd server) and, to add insult to injury, the entree chicken Caesar salad dish I ordered bore no resemblance whatsoever to the menu description, which touted a boursin and apples stuffed chicken breast and some other fancy toppings. I don't remember what all was supposed to be on there because I got none of it. I got a side salad sized dish with romaine lettuce, croutons, plain grilled chicken, and maybe two teaspoons of dressing. Blah. The sangria was not terrible, so I'll give them that (grudgingly). I'm putting my foot down from here on out and won't be returning.

I have never had a problem when I have been at E.G.'s. The food has been great, the restaurant is off Main St., so it's much quieter than other places in Plymouth. My wife loves the Whitefish, personally I really like the ribs and the gumbo. If you time it right maybe you'll run into the owner, Tony. Great guy, who wants people to really enjoy his restaurant

I do enjoy this place, because it is a Plymouth eatery and most of the things I have ordered here have been good. Unfortunately I can't return because everytime we eat here, they mess my husbands meal up. He doesn't eat veggies, and I wouldn't think it was that difficult to make a burger without any veggies on it when asked not to, but apparently this is beyond their chef. Too bad because I would love to be able to eat here.

Went here with about 10 friends for a birthday. First we were told "we have another large party already here, so we will try to get you guys in and out as quickly as possible!" Then, several of our dishes were uncooked, including mine which was completely raw chicken. Lastly, we had to use the same forks and knives that we used for our (uncooked) meals for our dessert, because they were "low on silverware." Took an hour to get our orders and another hour to serve, not to mention a half hour just to get our change back to us after we paid.

Worst place I ever ate. They few times I've eaten there I've had an upset stomach later. Must be the poor quality ingredients. Wouldn't recommend sending your dog here.

I almost didn't go because I read all the bad reviews. I ordered a burger because I figured they couldn't screw it up too badly. I was very surprised and I am glad I went. The burger was huge and great. The waiter was very attentive even for a Friday night. For once I am glad I didn't listen to the reviews.

Super salads. Apple Orchard salad is my absolute favorite. I recommend this place all the time for lunch. The owners are super friendly as well!

We have always had great food, good service, and have never had to wait for a table, even with a group of 6 or more. The fresh bread is so good you have to be careful not to fill up too quickly, and the menu has a wide range of options including several (but not a huge number) of vegetarian choices.

This is a curious place. The new outdoor dining area suggests that something interesting is happening here, and despite ingredient s for success, e.g., nice downtown Plymouth location and expanded outdoor space, after several visits, I've concluded that this is a burger and beer place that looks like it can do more--but it really doesn't .deliver past average in terms of quality of other menu items. The burgers are great, and there's nothing "bad" about the rest of the food, but nothjing that suggests that there is someone in the kitchen who is striving to impress. Now, as far as the bar -- some odd things happen - martinis come in three sizes at the bartender's discretion (and varying quality depending on who is pouring ) and are the same price . Table service on a busy Friday night was not up to par, lacking recovery of unsatisfactory items, even with a manager within earshot of the waiter and chiming in over the waiter's shoulder. Should've stopped at the table and made an earnest effort to understand the issue. Really didnt't care... but the place draws an amiable local crowd and goes on.

Edit as of April 2008: Last time we ate here the food was awful. In fact, my meal tasted like it had been left out on the counter to spoil and was reheated in the microwave. The waiter took the meal off the bill but seemed like he could've cared less that the dish tasted spoiled. How about addressing the issue with the cook in case some items need to be tossed?

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
