Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Compari's was a random choice in downtown Plymouth, as the small plates place my friend had hoped for was not open yet. We stopped in for lunch - they had a variety of sandwiches, salads, pizzas and other options available, as well as a nice array of lunch specials. Service was good, and our waitress was even nice enough to comment on some of the food idiosyncrasies as items were being ordered so that we were fully informed on what we were ordering. Out food came out as intended... drinks were refilled regularly but not annoyingly... Lunch was good. I'm not in Plymouth regularly, but this would appear to be a dependable place to stop for a nice, reasonably priced meal.

The service was very slow and they delayed every single order. The food wasn't hot enough when served. The complimentary bread was pretty good. I liked the burger but was not so impressed with there grilled chicken sandwich. I think you should stick to the pastas here. The lobster ravioli and shrimp Alfredo pasta were good too. Parking might be a problem if you go there on a crowded evening as theres is only street parking.

Male staff cannot keep from staring at my wife when we dine here, it's pathetic. I would suggest not hiring college age boys that get high before work, it may help moral. Food was average, nothing special. Everything we ordered was a bit over done, meaning, too much wine and oil used in sauces. Not balanced in the least. Not going back, the elderly can have this place.

The portions are way out of control. I ordered the tomato/crostini appetizer and it came with over an inch high of tomatoes on texas toast. In addition and in order to support the weight, the bread was soggy. I am a HUGE italian restaurant fan and have a hard time giving my favorite fare such a low rating. Nonetheless, if you want mediocre italian food passed off as authentic with a fast food flare...Compari's is for you.

Gluten-free paradise!! I went Saturday night with a friend and, while we did have to wait about 30 minutes for a table, we quickly found a spot at the bar while we waited. The best gluten-free beer, Redbridge, was not only on the menu, it wasn't crazy expensive! The food menu at Compari's is likewise top-notch. While most restaurants with such a wide variety of options fall victim the jack of all trades fate, Compari's does everything perfectly. My friend got the pizza, and it looked absolutely amazing. I ordered pasta with gluten-free ziti, and it was HEAVEN. Diced tomatoes, pine nuts, artichoke... It doesn't get any better. The absolute best thing about this place? When I asked the attentive waitstaff about gluten-free stuff (like the salad that came before my pasta, and the salad dressing, and the pasta sauce), they basically knew my questions before I'd even asked them. Compari's On the Park has definitely won the heart of this nervous, and extremely allergic, diner!

Was on the way to the Thursday evening 'Concert In The Park' at Kellog park, and my Mother-In-Law, desired to take me to Compari's On the Park Okay if you insist , we/ I have been here 3-4 times before, but never while being a YELPER. Yes they were packed at 5:15 on a Thursday and yes they have way too many tables for that floor plan , as your elbow can & will hit the table or person behind you [TRUTH] Our server Matt showed up and offered us cocktails or a beverage and being 90+ & driving we chose water with Lemon [ yes I saw his body language fold, but no worries we always tip 20%] They delivered the waters & there bread Bread [ just okay ] C Ordered a bowl of the Chicken Pastina Soup,$4.25 A+ I was expecting some so so soup, this soup JUMPED with flavor & some of the smallest pasta I have ever seen I ordered off of the appetizer menu, as I did not want Mother to go broke, I ordered the Fagioli Calabrese 'Spicey' $7.95 butter beans serves with tubeti pasta, spinach, fennel, Italian sausage ,banana peppers, roasted red peppers, olive oil & garlic NOTE: I do not like Butter Beans , as all it reminds me of is VEG-ALL I asked Matt can we substitute A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G for the Buttered beans? no I do not think so Another vegetable , mushrooms? nope i do not think so, and then begins to sell me on how great the dish is as presented. So I ordered it as listed and it was truly a A+ dish, with the combination & marriage of flavors 2nd NOTE: Matt suggested ordering the Dinner Entree of 'Fagioli' as it was more & a better deal because it included soup & the price would be the same Dinner Entree was $16 mine was $12..I said I will be fine and there is a $4 gap, he replied it is pretty close.. So .. if your still reading after all this, you may say "Ron why only 4 stars' Bread Floor Plan is claustrophobic Server not willing to even inquire on a substitution

The food was good, but the service was not. Perhaps we didn't have the best waitress. it took 20 minutes for us to get our drinks. She didn't bring our bread, even after we reminded her. She finally brought it at the end of the meal when we were almost finished eating. I might try this place again. I can't remember what i ordered, but I know the sangria was yummy.

Bland tastes, long waits, unfriendly service. I used to enjoy going to Compari's. Maybe my tastes have matured, but when I returned with my husband and daughter last Saturday, I was thouroughly unimpressed. Service - our waitress made no attempt to enhance our experience. Upon being seated, we were immediatley asked if we were ready to order and given no chance to review the menu. I don't remember the exact name of the dish I had, but it was angel hair pasta, served in a garlic and oil sauce with diced tomatoes and pine nuts. It had no taste, even after requesting extra tomatoes and throwing on a pile of parm cheese. My daughters dish, a $7.00 kids meal was over cooked fettucini noodles with no sauce, even though we had asked for the alfredo. The ice cream that came with her meal was freezer burnt and even she did not enjoy it! Although they have a nice patio spot in downtown Plymouth, I do not see myself returning to Compari's anytime soon.

We ventured here after the Plymouth Ice Festival - after seeing two separate friends had reviewed the place. My partner is very particular about his Italian food, so this was a big gamble. We walked in and were warmly and cheerfully greeted. Though they could use some more soft services in the bar area (the noise seemed to carry), the decor and seating is warm and inviting. The booth we sat in might be a little cramped for more than a couple, especially with large winter coats. We opted out of the appetizers - though the escargot was super tempting, and so good according to our friend that she had ordered a second helping as her main course! Our Server was prompt, yet still apologized for our having waited. She was helpful with descriptions of the specials and soups and took our special orders for pasta with a smile and more apt suggestions. I ordered the soup of the day, a white bean chicken chili that was hearty, slightly spicy and both filling and delicious. My partner ordered spaghetti marinera, which came with a house salad and was served exactly as he special ordered it with the house Italian rather than the vinaigrette and minus the cheese and unwanted accoutrements. The spaghetti was a good enough portion, though slightly small, but served hot and perfectly seasoned. We left satiated and planning on returning to try other options! Give it a try and make sure to share your experience, here!

I've gone to Campari's many times to give it a shot, and found that their pizza is really the best thing. I've never been very impressed with the italian pasta dishes, which I usually love. I'm a big fan of stuffed pastas and their raviolis were never anything noteworthy, and a few of the specials seemed exceptionally similar to some frozen pastas that we've purchased at the grocery store before. My husband also enjoys their linguine with clam sauce, but I have not yet had anything else I'd recommend to you that you couldn't get at a national italian chain. It's also not a great deal, the other places in town are cheaper. So read on and get the pizza. We took a family member here for a birthday but I was expecting to be unamazed once again - however, we decided to try the pizza on a recommendation from the waiter and after seeing it delivered to the other table. It's extra cheesy real mozzarella and a wonderful thin, chewy crust - it's the saving grace on the menu. Get the pizza! You won't regret it. And they deliver and offer carry-out!

The service was as good as the food. We were spending Valentine"s day In Plymouth and made reservations without a hitch. We stopped by the evening before to verify our reservation and have a glass of wine, and there were no issues. Valentine dinner was busy but service was more than attentive, and the food was better. In fact everything was so great, we took someone else there for dinner later in the week and they were busy, for a Thurs. Highly recommend.

I have been to Compari's more times than I can count, partially because it's one of my Dad's favorite places and its an almost guaranteed visit every time I come home to Michigan. I do like this little place. Cute atmosphere and it had a good view of the park, very pretty with the Xmas decorations up by the way. Anyhow, the service is usually decent (I've had more very good experiences than poor) and attentive. Occasionally, things happen, but the staff has always been very nice an apologetic if things happen. My favorite appetizer is the asiago cheese, I'm huge cheese lover & there is not much you can not like about spreading warm melty cheese on some nice crunchy bread. Definitely recommend this if you like cheese. Their house salad is good and has the best salty olives! I usually get the salad over soup, just for the olives. Thinking about it, I don't think I've ever gotten soup in stead of the salad here. As for the main dishes, I don't recommend the eggplant sandwich if you come for lunch, the sandwich was overwhelmingly greasy. I'm not sure if other sandwiches are the same, but I've always had such good luck with the past and the specials that I think I will stick to them from now on. I recommend giving the specials a try if anything sounds good of the options. I usually always really like what I get and they you get a good variety. The menu here is quite extensive, so even with the pickiest eaters, they should be able to find something that appeals to them. If you're in downtown Plymouth definitely give this place a try! FYI, lunch prices are about half that of dinner, so if you want to test the waters first go at lunch. However, service may be a bit slower.

First stop when I landed in Detroit was Compari's. The place is huge and always packed, from what I remember when I lived in Plymouth years ago. I also remember thinking this place was expensive. What a few years in NYC will do to your perspective... The service is great. The waitress was sweet and made a good wine recommendation. She didn't get annoyed when we weren't ready to order after her fifth attempt. You know that friend you don't speak to in a million years, but you pick up right where you left off? I was at dinner with that friend, so there was much to catch up on, and thankfully the waitress was patient with us. When we finally ordered, it was the Calabrese plate to start(various meats/cheeses/olives). Delicious! We split the blackened scallops, a Caesar salad, and a bottle of red. The scallops were like butter, melt in your mouth good.

I have not had a bad experience here and I have been here MANY times. I've tried a variety of dishes and they are all delish. One of the best meals I had was a daily special with scallops and mushrooms--so good. If you're craving Italian, you cannot go wrong with this place. It's located right across from the park and has a lovely outdoor seating area in the middle of downtown. Expect to wait during rush, but understand it is worth the wait.

I used to do theater so I have spent my fair share of time around loud talkers. Years of being told to "PROJECT!" can make a person loud at times when they don't need to be. So I'm used to it. I also love me some blasting music and I frequent rock n' roll shows which means I can usually jive with noisy sounds and spaces. But OH MAN was this lady sitting a booth from us at Compari's just the most overwhelming thing on the planet. Yabbering so loudly away about a surgical procedure (somewhat graphically at times), taking phone call after phone call when she was sharing a meal with someone else. Add my own exhaustion which put me in a bit of a crabby mood and I just couldn't ignore it like I usually do. It actually would have been a pretty bothersome meal if it weren't for the fact that Compari's is so darn good that it's hard to not enjoy yourself when you're there. Unless they're the snobby type, restaurants have no control over the patrons that visit or the mood you bring in with you, so I never hold what I'm feeling or what the other people there do against them. The most you can hope for is that the experience with the meal and the service is so good that it completely overshadows all the other obnoxious stuff (your own or otherwise). So thank you, Compari's, for saving the day by providing the most kick ass of noms. Firstly--the tossed salad rules. I know a garden salad is a garden salad but this is a GOOD garden salad. Tossed lightly with their house vinaigrette and filled with fresh leafy greens. It was a bright start to the meal. Next up--the roasted butternut squash ravioli. Hot damn this was some awesome stuff. Served with a light coating of a brandy and shallot cherry sauce and sprinkled with dried cherries it was the ideal fall dish for lunch. Perfectly portioned as well. 4 large squash pillows ready for the eating. I know a lot of people might consider that a small portion but it was just the perfect amount for me and I'm all about quality not quantity. Yum. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! My only complaint (aside from shouty surgery lady) is that the service could have been a little snappier. It was a VERY busy lunch time since the weather was gorgeous, so I'll cut them a bit of slack, but no coffee refill for my mom was a bit disappointing. Overall though, the meal was very enjoyable (all things considered).

The campalini amore was excellent But was very disturbed when we were told that we could not sit on the patio for drinks, that you had to order food to sit outside
(3)Deb M.
Big fan of so many things about this place. The service however, is not one of them. I'm going to get this out of the way now and just say that you had better have a lot of time to linger over dinner if coming to Compari's. I mean like 2+ hours for a salad and pizza time (yes, I know but their pizza is really good!). I am a big fan of their red sauce. It's authentic, simmer on the stove all day kinda-sauce. My favs are the lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, pizza (the calabrese and vegetarian are both awesome), Don't forget to top off your meal with a cannoli. Prices may be slightly higher than your typical casual Italian dining, but nothing beats sitting at the patio on a perfect summer evening people watching!

i've given this place a couple chances to convince me it is wonderful. Friday convinced me it isn't. first visit had a special- sage sauced ravioli and it was quite good, but also quite meager and lacking in sauce, especially for the price. bread was warm and fresh. chicken soup satisfying for a cold december day. friday returned with hubby and it being Lent hoped for numerous vegetarian offers. On the whole Specials menu - all was seafood. Notice!-this is not vegetarian. so i settled for the mac and cheese. First, the bread served was cold and going stale. Salad that came with Mac was average, ranch dressing not recognizable as such-possibly a creamy italian. Mac and cheese was penne with some liquid sauce, a few baby spinach leaves and still fewer red peppers which had no taste, and neither did the mac/cheese. Repeat- absolutely no taste nor flavor to the mac. Topped with buttered bread crumbs-they giving the only overpowering flavor to the whole dish. How can mac/cheese be ruined except for lack of cheese! This was $8.95 Hubby being from the east thought the calzone looked eastern authentic. It came with ricotta and mozzarella and one other inside item. he chose onions, and man were there onions, it was completely stuffed with them and no ricotta to be found. Red sauce on top, but would have preferred it on the side so part could be taken home. He was quite unhappy with this blob of food. So his was suppose to be $8.95 also but the bill listed green peppers as an additional item and charged $12.95 tho he was not charged for his ice tea. I have no idea where they learned math, but i still like to be charged for what i order and not what they think it all should come out to total. I will not return and don't recommend you waste you money. There are much better Italian restaurants. fyi-Street parking and something in the back.

Had Sunday late lunch at Compari's for the first time this weekend. Unfortunately, for what could have been a lovely meal (old style Italian ambiance with great outdoor seating right on Kellogg Park in the downtown Plymouth), it left a little something to be desired. Moderately crowded but certainly not busy. Hostess was disengaged and unfriendly and server, while more upbeat, was slow and did not focus on detail. I would return but for the price, they need to step up their game a little bit.
(3)Betty B.
This is one of my Fav. places to have Dinner. Authentic Italian. Such generous portions and great prices. It's a little noisy, but other than that perfecto!
(5)Liz W.
This is a cute little restaurant with solidly tasty food. Service is generally friendly and attentive. My parents come in here regularly for lunch. I like lunch with my work hours and it is cheaper to boot but I have been in for both lunch and for dinner with James. My mom usually gets the baccala, which is good fish with bread crumbs and tomato sauce, my dad orders just about anything. I like the capellini amore, the grilled italian sausage and the penne alla anna with or without the blackened chicken. Sometimes they have a pasta with hot peppers that is really good. I still miss the salmon pappardelle they used to have on the menu too. James likes the lasagne, chicken parm, tortaloni or a calzone. We also like the tenderloin tips diavolo or calamari as an app sometimes. At the bar from 4-6 weeknights they have half off beer and house wine with freebie brick oven pizza which is nice. Join the e club and they will send you coupons and deals for here and their sister restaurant Fiamma Grille.

What a nice place! I don't get to Plymouth that often but when I do i will for sure go back to Compari's! My fella an I made our way there while we were enjoying the Green Street Fair. We decided some lunch and martini's were in order. I had the Compari's Special Salad with Romaine, red onion, pine nuts, crumbled bleu cheese, tomato with their special dressing. WOWZERS!! This was soooooo good!! I'm not sure what the special dressing is but whatever they use its spectacular!! My guy had Capellini Amore Angel Hair pasta served with garlic, olive oil, artichokes, pine nuts, diced tomato and fresh basil. This to was GREAT!! Everything tasted so fresh and it was all seasoned so well. Our martinis were icey cold and made just right. OH and we had the stuffed mushroom appitizer and that was very good as well! We even ate our left overs for dinner which is something we normally don't do! Keep up the great work!
(4)Emily F.
I went here for my Father's birthday and it was excellent service. Our waitress, Ashley, knew everything about the food to the T! Everyone there was very nice and the food was amazing. My mom and I ordered the sangria...and it was.to .die.for. The best sangria I've had ever. (well so far) We all split the vegetarian pizza and it was cooked very well. The previous time I came, I ate the eggplant parmesan and it was very good as well. Hands down, this is a great place for a nice evening out. They have a great outdoor patio when the weather is nice and I can't tell you how wonderful the staff is there.
(5)George C.
Compari's has become my favorite Italian restaurant. Everything I've had on the menu is good from the entrees to the pizza.
(5)Katie P.
Oh god, this place is incredible. Love it. The food is so freaking delicious. Their Compari's salad is so good. I don't even know how they can make a salad something that I think about and crave for days after, but they do. I think it must be the dressing. And they give you the yummiest bread, too - warm and crusty and soft. My husband loves their pizza, and their pasta is pretty awesome. My only complaint (not worth taking a star off, though) is that it's slightly cramped in there. Since it's a smaller (for a restaurant) location in a busy downtown area, you sometimes get a claustrophobic feeling if you go on a busy night. And parking isn't awesome, but you can't really expect great parking in downtown Plymouth. Neither of these small gripes could ever keep me away from Compari's.
(5)Andy Z.
Solid choice for an evening out w friends. Wait staff can be very helpful at times. Pizza, pasta and salads are favs.
(4)Krystal R.
This is a cute place to go, especially in the summer (sitting outside.) Great for drinks and appetizers. I love their anitpasto salad, bread, pizza, and egg plant parmasean.
(4)Alina H.
Long sigh. We went there for my husband's b-day. Atmosphere is ok, it's a wanna-be Italian restaurant located downtown Plymouth. I had a Cafe Gates which was decent, ordered a blackened Scandinavian salmon for hubby and a regular one for me, both came with spaghetti (what a strange side for a wonderful piece of fish) and broccoli. The fish was perfect, the broccoli was mushy, the spaghetti overcooked and swimming in a ordinary tomato sauce. I mean... If you're going to charge $19.95 for this dish, can you at least do your best? There was another broccoli attempt (our server really tried her best) and a side of wild rice to replace the overcooked spaghetti. Again, the broccoli was overcooked and this time it had a strong buttery flavor, the wild rice was overcooked, as well. :( I was soooo disappointed... did the cook fail all the basic classes in culinary school? Bottom line -- overpriced, awful food, enter and spend dollars at your own risk. Plus, for Christ's sake, someone's gotta work on that menu a little. How can you combine salmon with a side of spaghetti and one of broccoli????
(1)Mickie W.
Casual, decent food, yummy yummy Creme Brulee. Great spot for lunch or dinner. In the summer you can eat outside :)
(4)Hokie F.
What a nice town Plymouth is. The town looked peaceful and sleepy but this place was jammed and loud at lunch. Chicken soup was uninspiring. Pasta side dish of spaghetti and meat sauce was cold in the middle. Veal piccata was nicely prepared.
(3)Christopher J.
I sat at the bar on Monday night (11/15) with a colleague and had dinner. Appetizers, really. We both had house salads and she had yummy escargot and I ordered the sauteed calimari, because I didn't want breading. It still arrived with some light breading, but the bartender explained "not half as much as the friend calimari". Either way, it was delicious. Most importantly, the service from our bartender was great! She was patient and very easy going and offered us opportunities to taste wines and taste her recommendations, before we ordered a glass. By the way, I never pay more than $10 a glass of wine, so it's refreshing to see a $8-9 glass of wine actually served more than halfway! I can't stand the "wine bars" that sell $12 glasses of wine and three sips of wine are poured in the glass. Anyway...I recommend this place and will be back!
(4)Mike S.
Snails and calamari appatizers are dependable. Lobster ravioli and Compari salad are amongst their best. The pasta can sometimes be over cooked and that is clearly atleast one star deduction. The service and ambiance raises it back to 4.
(4)Steve S.
Very inconsistent. Food is very good one day, and not very good the next. Don't take a chance go to Antonio's in Canton.
(2)Matt W.
Pan fried calamari is excellent!
(4)Jessica S.
Compari's is our hands-down favorite restaurant in downtown Plymouth. First, there are plenty of outdoor tables, which is always our first choice. I appreciate outdoor seating almost as much as I appreciate good food. Second, their specials never disappoint. They usually offer a fish and a meat special, and my husband is likely to order the fish. I've never once heard a complaint from him - everything always looks, smells and tastes fantastic. In addition, their pasta dishes are consistently delicious - my favorite (I often crave it and try to recreate it at home...rather pathetically) is the light-as-a-cloud Cappelini Amore - angel hair pasta with olive oil, garlic, pine nuts, artichokes, tomatoes & basil. The house salad is - for some reason - better than any salad in the area. The dressing is just spicy enough and not oily. The lettuce is always cold and crisp. Delish. My family (and I do mean extended family) always orders two calamari appetizers because they love both options - breaded and fried, and the sauteed version is equally tasty (according to everyone - I don't eat meat or fish). The wine list is just right - not too expensive not too cheapy - and the house wines by the carafe always pair nicely with the entree. Compari's pizza is one of the best I've had - tasty crust, fresh sauce and better-than-average tasting toppings. This pizza stands up to take-out, which is a plus. Last but not least: this is a family-friendly establishment. My children are always welcome, even though sometimes they maybe shouldn't be! The staff is pleasant and efficient, always paying special attention to my two kids, making them feel welcome. Don't pass up an opportunity to have dinner (or lunch!) at Compari's. We're a picky bunch but we're big fans of this place.

To this day, it is the best Italian food I have eaten anywhere in the United States. My favorite dish is the Italian sausage. Plus, the service is great.
(5)A D F.
Excellent summer salad and delicious desserts- creme brûlée is perfect from crispy burnt sugar topping to vanilla beans in the custard.
(4)Susan K.
Not a favorite place. Food is only so so and I've had bad service. We live in the area but never go here.
(2)Arun C.
I got to wander out of Ann Arbor a little on my last trip there for work, and I found myself in downtown Plymouth. After walking around for a while my friend and I decided that outdoor seating at Comparis looked like a good idea. The menu is a bit intimidating if you are one who has trouble making decisions, but they have a wide selection of homemade pastas and other entrees. I had blackened salmon with shrimp with orzo. The orzo had cherries and some type of cheese, which was unique and tasty. They also have a tempting selection of desserts. I had the chocolate bundt cake with ice cream. The outdoor seating was great too. Not a bad way to unwind after a long day of work.
(4)C T.
Always a great place for Italian food. I love that it is downtown and you can sit outside. My favorite is the blush sauce for pasta or tortilini. Delish! Oh their breadsticks could be addictive :)
(5)Katie M.
I went to HS in plymouth, so going to comparis was the homecoming dinner spot., or where a boy would take you if he wanted to impress you with his parents credit card. The food is good, and it's not all that pricey either. The unfortunate side is the stuck up plymouth diners that think their shit doesn't stink. People go in there thinking they are amazing and are quite rude. Plus you get alot of the grody married business men hitting on the young michigan princess types. It was one of those places that i love the food, and the service is friendly.. usually cute too.. but i'd rather just get take out from the bar.

We wanted to go somewhere different on a whim at a last second on a Saturday night. There was a wait to get a table but it only ended up being around 25 minutes or so. They have a nice outdoor patio but we didn't want to wait even longer to get a spot there. The service was a little slow but they were quite busy. The decor is really nice, I like seeing the pictures from when they first opened this restaurant many years ago. It was a little loud but not over the top loud. We had their garlic bread as an appetizer. It was really soft with lot's of parmesan cheese. They served a small salad before the main meal which was ok but nothing special. I ordered their special, beef tenderloin tips with mashed potatoes, a wonderful mushroom sauce and fresh veggies. I've been on the lookout for good beef tips and I FINALLY found a place that actually has GREAT beef tips! The sauce and mashed potatoes went perfectly with it. The veggies was also cooked perfectly, everything had great seasoning. This restaurant was a really nice surprise! I really liked everything about the place and the location.

This is one of my favorite dining spots in downtown Plymouth. Every time we go there the service is outstanding and the food is wonderful. We went there today for lunch to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary. My wife had the chicken piccata and I had the perch. We both started with the Compari's special salad with romaine, red onion, pine nuts, crumbled blue cheese, bacon and tomato and their special sweet dressing. You should always get this as an upgrade over the small house side salad. My wife's chicken was moist and tasty as was my perch covered with capers and a lemon sauce. You can't go wrong with any of their pasta dishes or other entrees. The calamari and Moe's zoli dip are great appetizers. Can't wait to go back Join the club and get $5 off your next meal.

This American-Italian spot is in the heart of downtown Plymouth sandwiched between Fiamma's and The Sardine Room (all three have the same owners). This place has a great outdoor seating area and their pizza does not disappoint. Added bonus, their cocktails are delicious!

We came here for my birthday and the menu had something for everyone in our party. We had the spaghetti, meatballs, perch, pasta dish with sausage, and pizza. Everyone loved their meal. The server was very attentive. The restaurant offered a cannoli for my birthday. We had a wonderful time at Comparis and we will be back.

Carryout- yes, if you want a pleasant experience get your food to go. Wait was 1.5 hours and Fire Marshall would have closed it down. People packed like sardines hanging over the rails above tables. Large groups smashed together. The decibel level alone made our meal uncomfortable- who wants to shout to your dinner companion. Use to like this place- not any more.

Stopped by with some friends this past Sunday. Half off pizza! It was very good and such a bargain. The place itself has a nice slightly funky ambiance. I found the tables to be a bit small, especially with pizza platters and plates, but the waitress made it all fit. She was adept at removing items for which we no longer had a use. Speaking of her, she was very good. We never wanted for anything. My only desire for Compari's is to expand their beer list to include more craft brews. Having said that, They do tend to concentrate on wine.

This place is overpriced & unimpressive. Food is always subpar & so is the service. Just because it's on main street - doesn't mean I'm about to come here again. It's in such a great location but fails miserably at all other aspects. Such a shame!
(2)Evie B.
Service was excellent! Caesar was fine but too pricey for just a regular Caesar. Pizza was awwwwwesome! Perfect! Pricey - cheese and 3 toppings $25 large. But it truly was a large pizza and the slices were evenly sliced. Thin crust, perfect cheesy cheese, small, thick rounds of pepperoni, spicy ground italian sausage and fresh mushrooms. Just the right amount of sauce ( tomato not sweet or paste) and the right amount of chew to the crust! Mama Mia use to be my eat n pizza place but I think this place beats them.
(5)Zena D.
Food was really good and it's such a cute place! I had the cheese tortellini with the orange sauce which is so good to dip your bread into. We got the scampi appetizer as well. Definitely a go to

Went here with a group of 10 for a business dinner. I was after something casual, access to good drinks, and tasty food with a good vegetarian option (Thank you Eggplant Parm!). We got all of those things at Compari's. Nestled in the heart of downtown Plymouth, Compari's offers a great setting during the holidays for an evening dinner while you overlook the holiday lights in the park. Our table got an array of entrees including eggplant parm (recommended), salmon, risotto (smelled incredible!), and veal parm (that plate was licked clean). If you're looking for good Italian cuisine and a place that offers a casual vibe then check this place out. You'll enjoy it.
(4)Robin S.
My all time favorite! The eggplant parmesan.; the best place in Plymouth down town. I am a repeating customer and the food is amazing! I curtique Italian restaurants based on eggplant parmesan dish! If you are a eggplant fan, this is the place!
(5)Jennifer V.
I have never had good service at this restUrant. Waiters always busy flirting with girls at other table. The Italian is mediocre. But they do have one amazing sandwich. It's a tenderloin beef on Texas toast with greens, caramelized onions and horseradish sauce. I crave this sandwich. I'll endure the crappy service to eat it.
(3)Rafael D.
The atmosphere is nice, the selection was not to my liking, but what they did have tasted great.

we have been to compari's a couple of times. we last went here on a sunday night, which we thought they closed at 9 based on the hours online. we were greeted by two teen girls who were obviously laughing at us in our faces. when one of them took us to our table she told us "well we were supposed to be closed but since you're here it's fine you'll be be the last table". she was still laughing and i did not think the matter was funny at all, especially considering we got there at 7:50. if you are closing early you need to consider putting a sign on the door or locking the entrance door. especially since i watched them and another employee seat at least two other parties after telling them the same crap they told us. on to the service and food. the server was kind of awkward but whatever. we got our food pretty quickly though. i ordered sangria (delicious) and pizza with pepperoni. my boyfriend ordered a seafood pasta that had scallops, mussels and shrimp. he enjoyed his pasta, and the pizza was fresh and i loved the real pepperoni! the dessert selection looked great as well. now normally i don't base my reviews off of employees who ruin things for others. but in this case the 2 teenage hostesses they had working the front were obviously not mature enough to have a job there. they made us feel like we weren't wanted there. so 2 stars for them making us feel like we weren't welcome, and 3 stars for the food. i only chose to come to this place because we had a groupon. but based on what we encountered, i don't think we'll be back!

It was a perfect summer evening: the weather was comfortable, the small downtown was filled with happy families, and the pace was relaxed. I was surprised there was no wait at Compari's despite the popularity of the restaurant. I think the bar and large patio helped manage the number of guests that could be accommodated. We were seated in a tight booth that was also in close proximity to other guests. There were several interesting dinner options: I saw a lot of fresh pizzas being served and considered both the sea scallops and whitefish. In the end, I went with the Homemade Lasagna with its thick layer of cheesy goodness. Along with the family-style salad served with the entrée, the meal was fairly filling. However, that did not deter us from having dessert. I should have photographed the dessert tray; there were several yummy-looking options. I went with the chocolate chiffon layer cake with the chocolate mousse cream and raspberry sauce. The large wedge of cake was definitely enough for three. Service was fine.

The pizza and salads here were very tasty. Our service was a comedy of errors: 1) They dropped our pizza 2) They brought our bill and although it was 50% off pizzas, they charged full price 3) We asked for split checks and they brought 1 check 4) We had to ask about 3-4 times to get more plates and drink refills throughout the meal I think there's even more that I'm forgetting about. But I think the busboy was new, and I know our waiter was a trainee with another guy next to him, so I'm giving them some slack. The pizza itself was quite tasty, we had the Napolitana and started with a side Antipasto salad. All good stuff. The bread tasted very fresh as well... not sure if they bake it there but it tastes like they may so good for them if they order it from another place! Great place to sit outside and people watch at the park across the street.

Well, Comparison on the Park is great in so far as the location is nice, the patio is a great place to enjoy dinner, and the food is decent. I truly do mean, decent, as in not great, but not terrible. The pasta is good, but does not taste homemade or "fresh"; rather it tastes like it is frozen and boiled to order. The pizza is good, but a lot more doughy than you'd expect for an italian restaurant. The few times I have eaten here I usually have a drink at the bar while we wait for a table and I've noticed a mildew smell coming from behind the bar. It smells like they need to clean and/or replace their bar taps (there is a stale beer smell). Also, I know they keep the menu limited as to not compete with their partner restaurants, but the menu always seems like it is missing something to me. If you are in downtown Plymouth and have a taste for cheesy pasta and bread and you want a casual pseudo italian dinner then go to Comparis on the Park. If you are coming to downtown Plymouth for a special dinner or looking for a really nice restaurant then go somewhere else.

This is the second time I have been here. The first time was just for a drink. Downtown Plymouth was a lively spot on this day. There was a band playing in the park which made for a good time. We decided to sit outside and enjoy the great weather. I had a Dirty martini with blue cheese olives which is always one of my favorite. The drink was done right. Although this is primarily a pizza and pasta spot, I also decided on the Salmon. The salmon had a parsley sauce with fresh string beans. The fish was done well. It was not overdone and the sauce made for a great taste for the dish. My friend had the lasagna which I tried of course. I'm not a huge lasagne fan but the lasagna was actually pretty tasty. The waitress was friendly bu seemed that she was just doing her job but she was attentive. Overall, a good experience. I will be back.

My wife and I went to this place expecting high end Italian food, and we left feeling underwhelmed. I'm thinking Camponi's is more of a high end pizza place that is trying to pretend like it knows pasta as well. She ordered the Florentine Ravioli and I the Tortelloni. Her's we found to have an overwhelming amount of spinach, and although I found mine to be decent, it was very reminiscent of something you'd get from Noodles & Co. The atmosphere is overall pretty decent. Downtown Plymouth is a nice area. The restaurant is very loud, and since we were there in prime time, our table was surrounded by people waiting to be seated. Overall, you'll probably have a better time eating at Olive Garden than you will eating at Camponi's if pasta is what you're after(not to say that Olive Garden is high end).
(3)Sam K.
Food is excellent at a reasonable price. Very nice setting especially during the warmer weather when the outside patio is open. One of the staples in Plymouth.
(5)Bobby S.
I'm a longtime customer of Compari's and I would say my experiences have been at least 95% positive. I have a few favorite staples on the menu, especially the veal cherry, and have been very pleased with the vast majority of the specials I've tried. The gluten free pasta option is great and I LOVE the creme brûlée! The bar tending and wait staff are some of the best in the business. The two I know by name, Brie and Jamie, are great mixologists and very adept at recommending wines based on your personal tastes while Ryan, the general manager, really knows how to treat his customers.
(4)Jill D.
Always amazing. The roasted garlic bulb appetizer is to die for. The red sauce for their spaghetti is a little disappointing and bland.
(5)Lauren L.
Do you enjoy Italian food and people watching?? The real question is who doesn't?! I love everything about this place. Their food is amazing and the location is perfect. In the summer I love eating outside and watching all the fun stuff around me. If you are going for lunch, they have great pizza and sandwiches! They also have super yummy sweet potato fries!!
(5)Jon J.
Excellent service, very accommodating, food is very good, nice selection of wines, appetizers, entree, desserts. The bar usually always has what you want as well as espresso, cappuccino and other coffee drinks for before and after dinner. Down side it's extremely small expect at least a 30 minute wait because its usually alway packed Pricing is medium with extra drinks it can be pricey but worth it
(4)Matthew K.
My family and I came in to enjoy a nice dinner here last night just after 9 pm. The server or hostess told us that they closed at 9. It says you are open until 10. You should probably change your hours or communicate with your staff what your hours are. I was very eager to try some of the food, but wasn't able to. I won't be back.
(1)Suzanne S.
We have Sean tonight and he's very good and nice too! We got the deep dish Comparis special pizza!! Fresh hot bread right from the oven! The wait wasn't too bad and it was just about 10 minutes longer than what they quoted to us! But sitting outside on "music in the air " Friday night is a planned event!! Good times here as usual!!
(5)Greg B.
Starters I had the pear, walnuts, and goat cheese on bread; very tasty. Dinner was scallops and risotto with mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes, also very good. Dessert - had to try the tiramisu, yummy. Service was good with a good wine recommendation.

One of my favorite places to go in DTP! Delish food and a continually updated menu. Go during happy hour for awesome specials. Jamie is THE BEST-EST bartender in town! The real gems there are the bussers. They seriously ROCK! They refill water glasses (big sticking point for me) and remove empty plates from the tables quickly (another massive peeve of mine is dirty dishes being left on tables).

Recently met my hubby and twin 3 year olds here for lunch. Apparently the hubs wasn't happy having to prepare lunch on daddy/son day. So he took them out & when I finished my Dr appointments, I joined them. The staff at Compari's were very accommodating with our multiple questions & dietary restricttions. There were several things I had to avoid due to food allergies/sensitivities, and others due to pregnancy. Also, I just wanted to eat meatless that day. So after we exhausted our poor waiter (who was just in training) with our quesitons, the day manager came over to discuss how they could better serve us. In the end, they made a delish eggplant parmesan dish with a side of fresh veggies for me. It wasn't even on the menu and I have no idea what to ask for if I want ti again. They repeated checked in with us to make sure everything was to our liking and finally presented us with a coupon for a discounted lunch on our next visit. Hey, any place that rewards you when you behave like a big pregnant crybaby about the foods you can/can't eat is a winning location to me! The prices were reasonable and the quality of the food was excellent. The service was by far, the best!

No Stars. Why? We have eaten here numerous times and also have had graduation parties, sent out of town guests and recommended it to others. I couldn't understand the negative reviews - that is until now. We got here on a hot Sunday at 2 pm - the restaurant was less than half full and there were tables available outside. We requested a table under an umbrella and the only available was a table holding 4-5. The hostess had no problem with seating us there even though it was "policy" to save for larger parties. My wife said we would gladly move if a larger party showed up. The hostess said ok. She was very nice. However, a waiter said "do not sit them at the table" with a ridiculous attitude. I asked to see the manager. The manager basically repeated the policy saying it was the "owner" who had the policy. Why do you manage if it is not to keep customers happy? We basically left and ate at Ironwood Grill. We certainly understand the "policy" - however at 2 pm on a Sunday they would rather lose two customers than keep two happy customers coming back. The waiter needs an attitude adjustment - or get out of the business - and the manager should look to solve problems and keep customers happy instead of blaming the owners for a "policy". There are a ton of other choices in Plymouth - no need to put up with Comparis .

Nailed it! Rarely can I ever say this. I had the Linguini Pescatore on advice of Shawn. The scallops were perfect, and almost no one can get those right. The wine was excellent, service friendly, and the price is far below that of surrounding restaurants. The casual atmosphere relaxed me, though it was a little cramped for the people sitting at the tables (we scored a booth). Our baby sitter needed extra money, so we stayed for dessert. The owners wife makes the more perfect red velvet cake! I don't think I am misleading anyone when I say this place has it all. Everyone has different expectations, and we are unusually picky which is why this review surprised even me . We will be back and looking forward to sitting outside - when ever it thaws. (I'm watching Frozen right now, which doesn't help)

I was meeting friends for lunch halfway between Ann Arbor and the northern suburbs. I'm embarrassed that I suggested we meet at Compari's. Your visit to Compari's starts with a meeting with the Enforcer, aka the hostess. Behind her is an ever-so-customer-friendly sign that declares "We will NOT seat incomplete parties." Sorry that we're trying to spend money at your restaurant, Compari's! I came in shortly after they opened on Saturday and my friends joined me in short order. The three of us were seated at a table for four. We asked for and received a beer list after learning there were no Michigan brews on tap. We then asked questions about the bottles. "What's the Founders seasonal?" "I don't know." "What's the Bell's seasonal?" I don't think we have one. I ordered a bottle and returned the list; the waitress came back shortly and said they were out. I picked the first thing I saw and that came quickly enough. Then we waited for 20-25 minutes for her to return to take our order. The issue, it seemed was: "I saw a fourth glass of water at the table; I thought you were waiting for someone else." Oh, OK, because we poured that glass of water, right? And you couldn't check back and ask if we were waiting on someone else? Or ask the hostess, "Hey, did you seat them as a party of three?" I mean, your draconian sign right at the door says that you don't seat incomplete parties; why on earth would you assume we're an incomplete party? Finally, we ordered. I chose the turkey club with the sweet potato fries. It was decent; nothing remarkable. Everything was quite good except that the sweet potato fries were undersalted and the bottom piece of bread on the sandwich was soaked through on the plate side; it's like they served it on a wet plate. The waitress came by after one bite and asked how things were; they were fine, said we. We ate, talked, laughed. Then we waited for 30-35 minutes for her to return to bring us the bill. Now mind you there were maybe a grand total of ten parties in the restaurant at this time and they weren't all being helped by this waitress. Finally, my friend went up to the bar to get our bill. While he was up there, the waitress skittered out of the kitchen. Another waitress pulled her aside and went to the front of the restaurant with her. After sharing eye-rolls, almost certainly at the expense of us ingrates who had the audacity to want to pay and leave, and wordlessly brought the bill to us. My friend went up to the bar and pay (lest our waitress require another half an hour to pick up and run his card) and I left a cash tip -- 20%, because of my need to be a decent human being, not to reward good service. So, I won't be back unless it's a situation where I know I won't be paying. A little effort and consideration would go a long way for this place; it's clear the potential is there, but the attitude and lack of attention are a serious impediment to enjoying Compari's. I'm sure plenty of witless people will show up and continue to pay since it's located right on the square in Plymouth but this isn't the type of place you choose to go and become a regular.

It was a disappointed experiences to have a family lunch at Comparis on the Sunday right after Thanksgiving. In addition to my main entree I received a side that was both cooked potato and zucchini. This part of my meal was the most displeasing. The potato and zucchini were both cold and the zucchini especially was very soggy/mushy. The consistency of the food almost felt like it were leftovers from the previous day. I say this because we were one of the first few people in after opening, and it couldn't have been that my side was cooked and be both cold and lacking in structural integrity. The dish is Grilled Swordfish in $25. We pointed this problem to the waitress and what we got only a word of "sorry". I hate to say this, but I have to remind others customers like me who are afraid spending money and time and buying the unpleasant. If Comparis' cooks don't care their works, who cares their business?!
(1)Denise S.
I gave high reviews of Compari's before. I just visited on Sat. and I was disappointed. The waiters do not wear black and white outfits anymore. They have on T-shirts, which for me was too casual for the prices you pay for a meal. Also, water and beverages were not refilled without trying to get someone's attention for five minutes. Not a very attentive staff considering we got there at 5:00 p.m., which is way before prime time. When the hand goes up, the tip goes down. But, overall you won't be disappointed in your meal.
(3)Chad S.
Compari's salad and their pizza are probably my favorite things on the menu. Their pasta dishes are good to, I've had their ravioli, lasagna and chix parm and a sausage dish with pasta. Great atmosphere, best patio scene in downtown Plymouth, bar is always busy. Didn't give it a 5 star rating because its just missing that 'it' factor. Food really good but not amazing, service good but not fantastic. Admittedly I'm a tough critic. I enjoy Compari's and dine here regularly as well as take advantage of their take out.
(4)Nikki C.
I went to Compari's for a group dinner. It was PACKED. We were still seated in a decent amount of time. I mean, we did have a reservation, but they tried to hold out until all of our party arrived. The place was just so congested that they sat us with our partial party, anyway. I mulled over the menu for a long time before finally deciding on Salmon with a side of pasta and vegetables. Very tasty. We had several appetizers which were good, but nothing to write home about. Well, the calamari was pretty good and different from the usual size and shape. This was thicker and cut in more of a slice than the usual calamari. Nice. Our server handled our pretty big group well. We didn't have to wait long for anything. The service was good, as was the food, giving us an overall pleasant experience.
(4)Hassen F.
For a place that gets good reviews, I expected better. Server couldn't smile to save her life. Pizza was bland and had no flavor. Manager in a leisure suit swung by the table to ask how the pizza was and was gone before we could even answer. Atmosphere is dark and stale, not to mention dated. Went there for lunch, took about 30 mins to get our pizza. Diet coke was flat, and asked for a replacement (from another fountain), took the waitress a good 5 mins to come back with yet another glass that was flat. I sent that back too. Suggested they might need some CO2-she completely ignored that. My buddy went back again today for something else and he said that 3 days later, the Diet Coke was still flat. If you don't care enough to serve something with flavor without attitude, find another profession. My second time to Compari's and my last. $18.00 for a large pizza with one item that I could get at Little Caesars for $5 and no tip. Compari's on the Park needs to find it's niche soon.
(1)Alex R.
Excellent lunch specials. Great atmosphere. Good pizza. Awesome patio for people watching.
(4)Chris C.
Best pizza in Plymouth. They have the peperoni that makes little grease cups. We usually get delivery but eating in is also great but in the summer on the weekends it will be crowded.
(5)Collin S.
Blah. There is nothing special about this restaurant. I ordered a Cesar salad expecting something that had more thought put into it then Wendy's version but was sadly disappointed when it came out with just not so crispy romaine lettuce dressing from a jar and non homemade croutons. That was it. My wife had an equally disappointing salad. After the no so stellar display, we decided that we would skip the main fare. Despite the abbreviated diner, the total was north of 25 dollars. You can get much better and cheaper food next door at the Sardine room.
(2)Nathasja T.
Compari's has the best location! I love being downtown, and as a European I am chronically on the lookout for a downtown spot with outdoor patio suited for people watching. People watching with a glass of wine and the sun in your face is the sport of my people, and I am glad to have found a spot to continue doing so. Maybe we are boring, but we do tend to order the same thing when we come here. We get a large anti pasto salad, and a large pizza of whichever kind we feel like. More often than not the za includes mushrooms, as they are of the yummy kind (not canned and unrecognizable). I've ventured out into escargot territory here, which were good. It was my maiden voyage into these little buddies, and have not ordered them since so I cannot really compare to other places. They were buttery and garlicky tho, which always makes me happy. My husband likes their spaghetti, though I am not a fan. I'm a bit of a pasta snob, and often find the sauces bland and pastas overcooked. It is hard to impress me with Italian food, and this is truthfully why I hardly order it anywhere- I hate leaving a restaurant feeling like I could've made it better myself. Now pizza, that's another story and they do it very well here. Try to get here on time to snag a coveted (patio) spot, sit down and enjoy your friends. Waits can be very long, and you may as well make other dinner plans if something is going on downtown. Two to three hour waits during Art in the Park or Fall Festival are not unheard of.
(3)Martha V.
The pizza is amazing. I love to sit at the bar with my husband after work and have a glass of wine and split a pizza. The Compari salad is really, really good, so if we are extra hungry, we will have one to start. Compari's does carry out also so sometimes the pizza just comes home to us. I have had pasta here also, and have enjoyed it, but the pizza is so good it is hard not to order that. Compari's is usually pretty full, even during the week, but we are usually able to get a seat at the bar without a wait. There is street parking in front of the restaurant, and a structure behind it. Downtown Plymouth is full of great dining choices, but Compari's is the best pizza in town.
(4)Jessica W.
My bridesmaids threw me my bridal shower at Compari's and it couldn't have turned out better. We let them know ahead of time that we needed a gluten free item for one of the guests and they were able to accommodate us. We selected cheese tortellini, penne marinara and shrimp scampi for the menu. (For events you must have a pre-selected menu.) I had the tortellini and it was very tasty. Everyone I spoke to mentioned how good the food was; even my fiance's Italian grandmother was pleased! The service was great...very present but not in the way. My maid of honor told me that her contact, Gail, was very kind. The back room was a perfect size for the event. I had never eaten there before my shower but I would definitely eat there again.
(5)Dan H.
Don't order pizza to go; they don't listen! We ordered no cheese and went through 2 redos, and each time it still had cheese on it and they refused to give us a discount. Horrible service and horrible attitude. Btw the pizza was bad as well!!!
(1)Martha R.
I went for lunch during the summer, and it was a perfect day to be sitting out on the sidewalk. They have some nice tables set up, and it's always fun to watch the people walking and driving by. The food and wine list are great. They have a lot of options (almost too many) and the food is solid. I had great company, and that always helps you have a positive feeling about a place. But really, it's a very solid menu, good service, and a good wine list. All of those things make me really happy. And while I wouldn't go out of my way to go back, I sure would be plenty happy to find myself there again during the summer months!
(4)Claire W.
As always a great meal with excellent service. The staff is friendly and attentive but I have to ask what's up with the new uniform? The t-shirts are tacky, felt like I was at a diner. If they want the staff to dress casually they should take a look at what the staff wears at the Rusty Bucket. Just saying! Dinner was great and we will go back, if you are in Plymouth you should stop by.
(4)Maureen M.
I had lunch at Compari's with some coworkers. It was a beautiful day so we wanted to sit outside. The only table that was available didn't have an umbrella. We went for it. After sizzling for a few minutes, we asked to move to a table with an umbrella. Our waiter was kind of odd & needed an energy drink. This seems to be a common experience I have at restaurants in Plymouth. I ordered the fish tacos. I've only had them one time before, so I'm not sure what I should expect. What I do know is that these fish tacos were delicious! The plate had 2 tacos with a perfect combination of fish, shredded cabbage salad and avocado. The chipotle mayo added a nice kick. The fish was seasoned & cooked perfectly. It was a little messy but I really enjoyed it! My coworkers also enjoyed their meals. I'm looking forward to our next visit to try another yummy dish!

I was in town on business, and had absolutely no clue where to go for dinner. The boss and I did a quick search on Yelp and found this place in the nice little downtown area of Plymouth. I didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. We had the sauteed italian sausage for the appetizer, and I had the baccala. The fish was cooked perfectly! It wasn't dry at all, and was served with just the right amount of sauce. The portion size was larger than I expected, and the veggies were good too, not overly seasoned nor drowning in oil. Service was ok, it took a while for the food to come out, but the server attributed that to the very important Tigers game on tv. OK. Good thing the food was delicious, and just as important, moderately priced! We could have easily spent twice as much for the same quality food at other places I've been. If I ever happen to stop by this area again, I will definitely come back for dinner.

We'd spent the day in Ann Arbor, again, and thought since we did the A2 thing the day prior ... why not give downtown Plymouth a try? Glad we did. What a nice little area downtown Plymouth offers ... we strolled the park, then the streets, window shopping and dodging little girls in sundresses dancing around the park grounds. Ok sure, the heat and humidity were trying to play the role of the antagonists on an otherwise picturesque afternoon, but we would thwart their evil endeavors and carry on! "Carrying on" meant finding our way to Compari's ... we'd taken a peek at reviews by Annette and Maureen and decided with validation like that, we'd more than likely have a great experience. Aaaaaaand we did. We split a shaved ribeye sandwich with swiss and carmelized onions ... it was accompanied by au jus and fries as well as a wasabi horseradish spread. It, my fellow Yelpers, was excellent. The bread was just soft enough to soak up the au jus and still firm and crunchy enough on the outside to keep its texture with each bite. We also shared the mixed berry salad and added grilled chicken to it. This mix of greens was fresh and the chicken was outstanding ... the fruit, however, was the star of that plate. Lots of berries and all were fresh and sweet ... no little dented, damaged specimens to discard or roll over to the side of the plate. Finally, the service was very friendly and it wasn't terribly busy at the time we arrived, so we were paid some very sincere attention. All in all, this place was definitely deserving of the 5-star rating.

I had a living social deal for $20 off our lunch, so my wife and I headed down to downtown Plymouth on a day date. Our experience was good, but nothing that spectacular. For location, you can't beat right in the heart of downtown and literally everything is around here. But as for the food and experience, it wasn't really worth the almost-cost it was. We had the calamari as an appetizer and for $8, we got some nice strips of calamari body only... not a huge deal, and it was firm and tender, but for $8 you'd think you'd get a little more than about 9 strips of calamari. But such is life... the stromboli pizza special for me, and the white cheddar mac and cheese for her were both good... but they were a little small and not particularly memorable. The bar itself had some decent things going on, but nothing that would force me to come specifically. Overall, yes, good quality atmostphere place and probably more economical than the Fiamma or Sardine room on either side... but i could get the same, or even better italian food at less prices elsewhere.

Went to Compari's on a Friday night, and it was PACKED! I got lucky and got a good spot but (1st pet peeve) who are they to co-opt the street parking for their own valet needs? Don't our taxes pay for us to have the right to park there? OK, so I've safely stored my ride and I'm looking at a 45 minute wait. I don't understand a place that is consistently this busy not taking reservations (2nd pet peeve). There wasn't even room inside to wait, so outside it was. Luckily the weather wasn't too awful. Finally I got inside an got a dirty martini. Kettle one, dirty goodness with a blue cheese olive, and "crushed ice" (third pet peeve). Who puts crushed ice in a dirty martini? Nobody who drinks them, that's who! Upon being seated in the back corner next to the bar entrance, server station, and kitchen, I was brought some unremarkable bread. The side salad was very basic, though not bad. I ordered the lobster ravioli for my entree, and when it came out it was better than I imagined with a slightly sweet blush sauce. VERY good. The Manager stopped by to ask how everything was. I gave the server profs, as she was truly on the ball! The place itself was extremely cramped and unbelievably loud. I might go back, but there would have to be some special circumstances involved.

Went with 4 friends. All of our meals were great. The bread had the great crunchy crust. We were served family style salad and we added blue cheese for a charge. They were super busy but I can tell you we wanted for nothing. Aaron our server was great.not to mention the bus boys. I had the linguini with clams all i can say is I swabbed the plate with my bread at the end. I think my wife was embarrassed. I noticed she had none of her lasagna left. If you ask me this is one of the best places in Plymouth. Don't take my word for it you have to try it. This will be our new favorite place! This family also owns The Sardine Room and Fiammas. I can't wait to try the food at both those places.

I came for dinner with my wife and a friend. Perhaps I ordered wrong - some of the pastas looked pretty good, a lot better than my bland chicken breast and veggies.

Great place! People on here take one mistake and make it the cornerstone of a review. This place has so many regulars it's crazy. Consistent professionals killing it at dinner time. Come eat enjoy, bring the kids, very accommodating.

I haven't spent much time in Plymouth but I've become enamored with the downtown area. I was delighted when friends organized a group outing last night to drink some wine and chat at Compari's. I stalked the menu online before we headed out and when I saw that they had escargot my heart (and stomach) leapt with joy. Escargot is just one of those foods for me, you don't have them often but when you do everything is right in the world. For appetizers, I ordered the Escargot Agliolio and my husband had the Tenderloin Tips Diavolo. The escargot was perfect, not chewy at all, and the white wine garlic-butter sauce was SO good. Seriously, the sauce makes the dish. The crostini or toast they served it with was too crunchy for me so I used the regular bread that was on the table to sop up the garlicky goodness. My husband loved his Tenderloin Tips. I had one bite and they definitely have a kick. When the waiter came around to take our dinner order I panicked. I was going to try the Lobster Ravioli but I wasn't feeling super hungry anymore. And I kept on thinking of those damn snails swimming in the sauce. So I did it. I ordered another order of the escargot for my entrée. I'm pretty happy with that choice. My husband had the Spaghetti and Meatballs. I didn't get a chance to taste his dish; I was busy chatting and devouring my second round of snails. He said there wasn't much flavor, that it was pretty lifeless. The patio was full and the place was jumping. If we lived closer I could see us becoming regulars here.

I live in town and wish this was a place I could visit on a regular basis, but I will NOT. We stopped coming here about five years ago after a really bad experience, and once a year we give Compari's another try. Needless to say, we continue to be in unimpressed. - Everytime I've been here, I've been treated VERY poorly by the hostess, who is frequently the owner. To be treated rudely by a self-righteous restaurant owner is inexcusable! - Food is expensive, portions small, and not really anything remarkable. - Waited for a very long time to get our food after we ordered (over an hour); this is a catastrophe when dining with children!!!! - This place is LOUD, not the "average" noise rating given! - Service is poor; waitress could have cared less about our feed back regarding poorly cooked/prepared food.

Compari's is nice. It was where I first learned a trick from a previous boss - when you don't know what you want, ask what the waiter/waitress recommends. I do it all the time now. The reason this was the best place to learn this trick was because of the variety of items on the menu. Everything I've had there, I've liked. No one I've been with has ever had anything bad to say about their meals either. That's saying something! I especially like sitting outside on a summer evening watching the park. Compari's is a great place to get together with friends or family to celebrate any occasion.

Finally broke down to the gf's persuasions to try out some restaurants in downtown Plymouth. Found Compari's here and had a coupon from the Entertainment book (bonus!) so decided to give it a shot. Ambiance-wise, it's like any other mid-tier Italian place -- super busy, cramped tables and bustling with activity. Not relaxing, but a welcome sight after being in too many deserted restaurants all over Metro Detroit. Food-wise, it's damn strong. Great bread -- perfect balance of crunch and soft pillow-y textures. We got the bruschetta -- amazing. I would seriously go back just for the bruschetta. Comes on a HUGE piece of that crispy delicious bread -- so small eaters beware. We also got a salad (meh) and then the Linguini Pescatore and the Pasta Compari. The Linguini was delicious -- scallops were under-seared, shrimp was delicious and mussels were kind of a non-event -- but overall the dish was delicious. The Pasta Compari was a touch on the salty side and a little oily. Would have like to see more peppers and onions and bigger chunks of sausage... On to the service. So I had a coupon that was $10 off a $40 check, excluding alcoholic bevvies. Now...I understand if my bill was $20, you probably wouldn't honor the coupon. But our server decided to go "make sure" with his manager -- at which point I knew we were gonna get screwed. He comes back and tells us "I'm sorry but unfortunately it's just food...and you ordered $38 of food." ..................................................Â.....wtf. So we ended up ordering a $5 dessert (that I had wanted anyway I guess) and getting the coupon honored. But seriously?! Guess they make enough money to not really care about their customers... Good enough, but the service left me with a touch of a bad taste. If I wanted commercialized service, I'd go to Maggiano's or hell, Olive Garden.

I have had a few meals at Compari's and the food is o.k. I have a few gripes about the service though. Here is a little story... We were walking around the Plymouth Green Street Fair at 1:00 on a Sunday afternoon and saw a big Lunch Specials poster up on the window at Compari's. We thought it would be nice to sit outside so asked for patio seating for our party of 3. The weather wasn't great so there were only a couple of other outside diners. The hostess tried to seat the 3 of us crammed around a tiny table when there were at least 2 open 4-tops. We asked for one with an umbrella and she said "oh that one?" and pointed to the same tiny, exposed table she tried to seat us at to begin with. We got one of the several open 4-tops only after being completely insistent - that was already about enough to make me leave. The server came by to drop off menus and take drink orders. We immediately noticed no lunch specials in the menu. When she came back, I asked if we could get the lunch menu (it being lunch time, and there being a lunch menu on the window with no "unavailable Sundays" stipulations). She informed me with a smirky grimace on her face (with the obvious implication that I was the stupidest person she had run into that day, if not ever) that since this was an Italian restaurant, they don't do lunch on Sunday. Huh? really? Really? Fine, don't have lunch on Sunday's, but don't have snotty servers try to school me about "Italian Restaurants", and don't have a LUNCH menu up on the window at LUNCH time. And don't expect me back any time soon. There is much better service in Plymouth than this... There, I feel better now.

I went here with my gf last weekend. It was the best meal that I've had in the past year. I started to give it 4 stars, but then realized that there wasn't one thing they could have done to make the experience any better. We had some cocktails at the bar and then enjoyed a crostini appetizer dish with Honey walnut and goat cheese that was phenomenal. She had the butternut squash special with dried cherries and a fabulous sauce. I had a white fish dish with artichokes and sun dried tomatoes. It was all perfect and inspired me to try emulating the dishes at home. The service and ambience were great. We were able to talk at dinner about some important stuff. I love this restaurant and would definitely return again, especially since it's right on the park in the cute cute little town of Plymouth Michigan.

Chicken Paisano... Sooo good it might make you tear up a bit. Pastas are good here too. I wish I would've tried their pizza cause that's looks amazing. I like this place. Love their location. Lunch on the patio is very nice especially when the weather is awesome. Now going back to the Chicken Paisano, this is tender chicken with sauteed artichokes in white wine sauce and it's so delicious. Get this for lunch! Prices are on the slightly above average side. But you do get great food that's way better then anything Olive Garden will make. I'm a fan and I can't wait to go back.

I found Compari's after seeing such great reviews here on Yelp. The reviews lived up to my expectations. The restaurant has a nice atomosphere, great exposed brick wall with fun art, and a great vibe. The place was packed, but I expected that - we were given a 20 minute wait time, and were seated in 10. I really liked the fact that there were people everywhere but it never suffocating. Everything was organized and efficient. Kudos, Compari's. The beer selection was great, nothing too extravagant, but with a few extras that seasoned beer drinkers would enjoy. The wine list was pretty nice too. Both had reasonable prices as well. We ordered the Bruchetta (thanks to my fellow yelpers) for an appetizer and it was yummy. Its a tomato bonanza - diced beautifully but piled on, so tomato lovers rejoice. As for dinner, I got chicken and my boyfriend ordered pasta. Both of us were really happy with our choices. The menu was great, it was hard for us to settle on one thing to order, but based on our experience there, I look forward to heading back and trying something new. Compari's didn't get a full 5-stars from me for 2 reasons. The first being the price. I have no problems spending money on a fabulous meal, but I thought Compari's prices were a little inflated. The second reason is the parking. There is no doubt that this restaurant is in the heart of Plymouth - one of the cutest little cities around. The place is nestled in a sexy part of town but it took forever for me to find a spot to park my car. Actually, fellow yelpees...the tough parking came in handy on a Saturday night. I dropped my boyfriend off at the door while I went to park. I definitely recommend this - not only do you get in and get your name on the list, but it makes the time a little more efficient.

We got a chance to sit on the patio and have lunch early on a weekday. The service was soooooooo sloooooooooow. I thought maybe our waitress thought my son and I wanted to sit and talk and wasn't rushing us, but for a very long time I sat with my napkin on the table and my wallet out ready to go and she never came by. There seemed to be along wait to get our meal started, as well. This could have been that we were the first customers of the day, but salads should be ready when you open. The wood fired pizza crust was delicious. I didn't really care for the sauce, as it tasted just like the red sauce on my son's spaghetti. I think pizza and pasta sauces should taste very different. The bread sticks were so, so, so good....soft and cheesy and buttery and carb-a-licious. Caesar salad was pretty good as well. Nothing super spectacular, but a good sized salad with decent dressing. I am going to go back for the Alfredo test soon. I think having a summer supper on the patio will be a great way to spend an evening. Note: They are doing construction on Main street this Spring, so don't plan any romantic patio dates until it is finished. The only view we had during our lunch was some construction worker's coin slot.

Compari's in the Spring/Summer with the outdoor tables is so fabulous! Inside is good the rest of the year, but it is always packed because it is not that large inside. The food is always good and I must have the calamari whenever I visit. I wish i was closer to be able to take part in the weeknight specials they offer. Check it out, it will not disappoint you =)

I can't believe I haven't yet reviewed Compari's. I've only eaten their food about a thousand times and taken just about everyone who's visited for dinner... I'm a local, so it's pretty convienient, but even convience doesn't trump crappy food or terrible service, so the fact that we keep going back over and over says something. For starters, they have a really cute atmosphere - especially in the summer when you can sit outside and enjoy the bussle of downtown Plymouth. (If you want to sit outside be prepared for an extemely long wait on a nice night or weekend - or come for happy hour and never leave!) The food is really great. It's pretty typical Italian fare, but it is consistently good and I've tried quite a bit if the menu after almost a decade. I'm a particular fan of the lasagna. Oh how I wish lasagna wasn't so bad for the waistline! Theirs is served bubbling hot in a big crock with melted mozzarella oozing over the sides... Yum. It's a consistently great little spot, you can't really go wrong. I'm a fan.

Compari's defiantly is a great place to bring the family. The restaurant is unpretentious and you're not embarking on a culinary wonder type cooking. The place serves very rustic and family type italian meals. The portions are generous and good but what is inhibiting me from giving it an extra star is the prices. The alcohol prices are grossly and maliciously overpriced for this type of atmosphere. The wines by the glass are just to much money for the selection they are offering. Large amount of wines by the glass and no process to keep the wine from becoming oxidize. They are just stocked at the bar open and who knows when they will be used. The prices for beer and alcohol are high as well. This should not be a reason from enjoying the food. If you want to pay high prices for drinks then treat yourself to one of the more upscale restaurants, where the ambiance and service will match the prices.

Some days, I'm just frazzled. Today was one of those days! After giving the waitress the wrong charge card, I almost walked away with my check (it was the same size and the notebook I picked up off the table on top of it). I swear, she probably thought I was 1) crazy or 2) trying to walk off on a tab. Neither of those options are true, but I still felt bad for my "Where is my mind?" moments. The folks at Compari's have always given me excellent, friendly service, so I'm hopeful they'll forgive me this one day of feeling slightly ditzy. Today I wanted a big, meaty sandwich, so got the reuben. Not bad, but they truly excel (as is to be expected) at pasta. The butternut squash ravioli I got last time around (which seems to be a seasonal special) was simply some amazing comfort food. The sweetness of the squash was offset by a saltier sauce, with dried fruit (cherries?) added in as well. Divine. And... that time (when I was feeling more myself, apparently!), I ended up in a great conversation with my waitress about Detroit and her interest in its regeneration. Honest, sweet people work here. And they serve me delicious food -- so I'm sorry I was acting like a spazz today, but thankful that they didn't make me feel too badly about it! Next time, I swear, I'll be better rested when we meet again, Compari's!

I have eaten at Compari's twice with about a year between the experiences and have enjoyed my meals both times. Compari's has become the place that we (the board of directors) take the featured guest artist from the Southeast Michigan Flute Association Festival and I can clearly see why. The restaurant is conveniently located in downtown Plymouth, the restaurant is cozy and offers a wide variety of dinners and the food actually is quite good. Saturday I dined at Compari's with a group of seven adults at the peak dinner hour around 5:30 p.m. Our group was taken to the fancy side of the restaurant and then to the back room that was hosting a couple other larger parties. For dinner I ordered off of the specials menu the Roasted Vegetable Ravioli which was served with a sun-dried tomato walnut pesto cream sauce. Dinner also included the house salad (Romaine, cucumber, red onion, and a few assorted olives) and a basket of bread. A few of us split a bottle of wine and I will say that I was impressed with the proper wine service. I guess I'm a sucker for formalities. I enjoyed that the salad was only Romaine and the house dressing was a tart vinaigrette. There was also a soup option but I didn't hear the description and with it being a large party and a busy hour I could be okay with the salad. I will say that we did have to ask the server for bread this time but it was promptly brought upon request. My ravioli was delicious. The flavors really worked well together and I could taste the actual vegetables in the filling as opposed the usual bland cheese that makes up the middle. Actually, I am usually one to be skeptical about ordering stuffed pasta in a restaurant because the serving is normally a proper serving and not the ridiculous Claes Oldenburg sized helpin's that I desire. I was alright with this serving. All in all I think Compari's offers a great place for a date or a more formal dinner. They do have pizza on the menu and I am sure people eat a casual meal there, but with pricing being closer to $14-16 per person, it seems more than casual. It also looks like they offer al fresco dining with view of the park--though there is construction right now. . .
(4)Shannon B.
The craziest thing about this review, is that while Compari's is an Italian restaurant, their ranch dressing is absolutely AMAZING! The rest of their menu is good...but the salads with ranch are the main attraction, for me anyway.
(5)Ying T.
Very nice restaurant. We went as a group of 10 for a birthday. The service and food is good. I really like veal cherry. After dinner, they have a live music and on and off have some dance songs. It was okay but it was great to just sit around and chat. If you have never experienced Plymouth, check this out.
(4)Debra D.
Compari's is my favorite restaurant in Downtown Plymouth. Because it's just across the street from Kellogg Park, it's an ideal location to eat during the many Downtown community events. The outside dining area (in the Summer) is best to enjoy the festivities, but be aware that the wait time could be 1-2 hours long. Everything I've had there has been great and the pizza is awesome.
(5)Andrea R.
Great Italian restaurant in Downtown Plymouth, right on the park. There is a patio to dine outdoors on a warm night. All of their pasta is fresh and their pizza is delicious.

We went here last Sunday (1/23/11) for an early dinner (3:30) after going to the Plymouth Ice Festival. There were ice sculptures in the park and we decided to eat at Compari's. My mother-in-law was with us and I suggested Sean O'Callaghans, because I had a craving for fish 'n chips, but my mother-in-law wanted to try something new so we decided on Compari's. I've been to Compari's a few times before and I'm never disappointed and this visit was no exception. The bread was great, accompanied with balsamic/olive oil that was table-side where we poured our own. The container for it has the spout where you pour the oil and after a few seconds the balsamic vinegar comes out. I added some Parmesan and pepper. I just wish the pepper was the mini grinder type instead your typical "pre-gound" type. The bread was so good that we asked for 2 refills. For appetizer we ordered the calamari which was steak breaded and fried. It came with a dipping sauce that complimented the calamari. The calamari cooked just right and not chewy at all. I ordered the house salad with my entrée and it was good. The mixed-greens were fresh with tomatoes, croutons and red onions in a olive oil balsamic vinegarette. For my entrée I ordered the Chicken Piccata it was amazing. The white wine, lemon-butter sauce was just right and the capers went well with it too. The chicken was sliced thin, almost butter-fly cut, and the side-pasta with meat sauce was decent. For some reason I have yet to go to a restaurant where the pasta is al dente. Perhaps next time I will specifically request it be cooked that way. It was served with Parmesan cheese in a bowl, which was probably shaved fresh earlier, however, I prefer fresh Parmesan grated, from the block, for my pasta. My wife ordered the Cesar salad, with anchovies and for her entree she ordered Capellini Amore which is angel hair pasta with garlic, olive oil, artichokes, pine nuts, diced tomatoes, and fresh basil. It was light and refreshing not too rich or over bearing. My mother-in-law ordered the traditional spaghetti and meat sauce and it was good, not runny and tasted good. My wife ordered a glass of Amarone but I can't remember what vintage or vineyard but I do remember it was good. We didn't order any desert opting for cupcakes, at The Cupcake Station, that just opened last fall, instead. The service was good and the waitress was attentive, as were the bus boys who cleared our tables promptly when we were finished with our dishes after each course. It's great to see that after all these years Compari's has not changed a bit and the food and service is great, and exceptional, as my first visit there.

They knew how to make my favorite drink which was hard to find in the area. Great bar selection. The food wasn't bad.
(3)Andrew P.
Great location in downtown Plymouth on Kellog Park, the central town green. Good coffee, excellent soups, great salads, attentive service. The bread and olive oil and balsalmic vinegar mix to whet appetites whist waiting for the real appetizers is simple but wonderful. I've had the lunch special a few times now (most recently, Ohio lake perch) and it has always been strong. Compari's is not cheap (lunch is reasonable, dinner is spendy) but it's my go-to place for entertaining out of town family and friends.
(4)miho L.
This is another favorite of my better half but I share the sentiment. The dining in downtown Plymouth is pretty good and Compari's is one of the better venues, year round. The location, overlooking the park, is nice winter or summer. Of course, summer means you can grab a sidewalk table too. With the location, you're in easy walking distance to shops, bakeries, sweets, etc. There is a nice ambiance to Compari's, it just works/feels warm/comfortable. Although it can get congested inside (not the largest dining area in town). Most of the dishes we've sampled over the years have been good, A couple have been exceptional and throw in a dud or two along the way. Price is not out of line. The Caesar salad rates pretty good (although the best in town is Station 885), lobster ravioli, whitefish and capellini amore are favorites. My wife swears by their creme brulee (if she's happy, I'm happy). Enjoy this one. See you there!!!

I've always been a fan of Compari's. The restaurant was just being put in as I finished high school in the area and it was the first published restaurant review I ever had when I was in newspapers. It's almost always crowded, prices are a little higher than your average chain Italian restaurant, but you're paying for a much better atmosphere and for food that's prepared with far more love and attention. It's a darker room, interesting lighting fixtures and a small, well stocked bar. Because of the crowds it can be a little bit louder than your family Italian restaurants, so if you're using this as a date spot or someplace where you want to be able to hear everyone well, it can be a bit difficult because of the main restaurant's smaller space. It does have some fantastic patio seating that offers great views of Kellogg Park, which in my bachelor days was great for having a martini or a glass of wine and people watching. The food is great. Like Kathleen F. mentioned in her review, I'm a big fan of the Penne alla Anna with blackened chicken. They also have great Lobster Ravioli in Blush sauce and the chef knows how to do seafood well. Appetizers are a good size and are a reasonable value for what you're paying. Desserts are typical Italian fare. The tiramisu is done pretty well. Now, all that being said, Compari is not without its faults. They tend to employ younger women as hostesses, which is nice, but for a restaurant where I'm spending a little more, I want a hostess that either knows the business or at least will pay some attention to be sure that we've received a server after we've been seated. Last night it took almost 15 minutes to even get a drink order in, and I know the hostess saw that we still had menus and didn't even have cocktails. Depending on the hour you're in the restaurant and the staff present, service can be a bit hit or miss here. The wine list is nothing to write home about, but they do have a decent variety of Italians. Lots of dry wines, and some of your typical Rodney Strong types. IMHO they don't really have any showstoppers that make paying the considerable markups worth the effort. The house Chianti is pretty good and a good value though. All in all, it's a great spot for dinner and one of the best spots in the Plymouth, Canton, Wayne, Westland area for a good meal.
(4)Zen M.
Rating is for pizza and customer service only. My family comes her regularly for the pizza. It's made in house, not greasy, and tastes great for breakfast the next morning. The staff here makes you feel like family. There are many "regulars" that we see during our visits. Part of the charm, and you can't beat the location.

I had a really good experience at Compari's. Maybe it was because Sandy was my waitress and she was so cognizant of the little things that impacted my dining experience. We entered from the back alley way- coming from the free public parking structure, and I didn't especially like coming in the back and having to walk through everyone else and the workers' area to get to the hostess stand. But whatever. I asked to be seated anywhere out of the way....eating with a one year old doesn't always go as planned! They were pretty busy with the amount of servers they had on the floor, but let me tell you- my glass was never less than 3/4 full. It was wonderful not to run out of liquid [I really hate when I have a hot or salty dish and am afraid to suck the drink down for fear of how long I might have to wait to get a refill]. One star for awesome drink service. I wasn't a very big fan of their breadsticks that they served in the basket. They seemed to taste homemade or fresh, but they were a little too hard for my liking. I still ate 3 out of the 4 though. And they were served with a plate of butter. Eh. I am a huge fan of the oil and herbs. Thankfully they had a bottle of oil and vinegar on the table, parmesan & romano cheese, and I made my own oil dip. I just tilted it enough so that the vinegar wouldn't come out. One star for having oil and cheese on the table. I couldn't decide between the special Chicken and sweet pepper cherry pasta or the Capellini Amore. Sandy told me the worst decision breaker: they're both good.... but she kicked it in gear by telling me they were known for the capellini amore. I ordered the capellini amore. The house dressing on the salad was good. Lemony oily, but good. The salad itself was kind of boring- romaine lettuce with cucumber chunks and 2 black olives, 1 green olive and some purple onions on top. Sandy brought my son's chicken and spaghetti out first, purposely. She placed it on my left side, and he was on my right. She told me how hot it was and that she wasn't going to put my order in for another 10 minutes so I would have time to cut his and feed him a little. Wow, you're awesome Sandy! The capellini amore was a gracious sized serving of capellini with diced tomatoes, oil, garlic, pine nuts, artichokes and basil. I fell in love with a dish like this about 9 years ago when I first ate at Carabbas. It didn't have garlic chunks like carabbas does[tagliarini picchi pacchu], but I still needed gum afterward =D Sandy cleared away our plates when we finished and made sure we were very well taken care of. Things like this make every difference in the world. One star for exceptional service. The desserts.....we got the raspberry-mango cheesecake. I expected a cheesecake slice with the fruit topping, but this was mango flavored cheesecake with a layer of raspberry cheesecake finally topped with mango topping and sprinkled with powdered sugar. It definitely got Kolten oooo oooo-ing for more! It was really delicious, but too rich to finish [it wasn't a puny slice]. They had creme brulee, tiramisu, cannoli [can't get them everywhere], chocolate lava bundt cakes and sorbet. One star for a hard-to-decide dessert menu.

Oh good lord this place is loud! Do not select this place for a first date. The food is good, but nothing fantastic and certainly left me wondering how it is packed every weekend. I ordered fettucini Alfredo and the noodles were overcooked.

I've been to Compari's a few times, most recently last week for a birthday dinner with my in-laws...I figured it was about time I put in my 2 cents! As usual this place was busy for Thursday dinnertime. The hostess just asked us how many were in our party and didn't ask about smoking vs. non-smoking so we assumed the whole place was non-smoking. Not so...we were seated next to the bar in a great corner booth...then a gent at the bar began chain smoking. Not cool but, we got over it. Be sure to ask if you have a preference! Our server was great! He was attentive to everything throughout the meal and did a great job conveying gluten-free requests to the kitchen. He got my martini correct (surprisingly difficult to do for some) and my husband's beer glass didn't go empty before he inquired about refills. The bus boys also helped to keep waters full and boxed our food. I had the linguine with clam sauce and substituted the gluten-free penne. It was fantastic! The gluten-free pasta was a wonderful texture (not too mushy, not too firm) and the clams with the clam sauce were delish! My husband had the lobster ravoli in blush sauce per Daniel E.'s recommendation - he LOVED it! My mother in-law had the eggplant parmigiana and was very happy with it - and she is picky about her eggplant! We all enjoyed the house salad - love the black and green olives with the house dressing! The bread looked delightful even though I couldn't have it. We didn't do dessert because we opted to go to our local favorite, Dairy King. I would recommend this place for gluten-free people and you gluten lovers alike! The service is good, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is interesting and comfortable. There is parking in the free public deck behind the restaurant if you can't find street parking.

Definitely recommended. Why 4 stars well we went there a little late in the day for luch and service was a wee bit slow. Overall 4.5 highly recomended. Not family friendly for sure since it's a little upscale. We had the lunch special with soup, salad and dessert. Having recently moved from CA we weren't expecting much - but oh boy were we surprised. A+

Time to throttle back a star or so. Still a really good restaurant, but the prices just keep climbing higher and higher. My last visit, the food seemed a little on the salty side. Also, smoking is allowed inside at the bar. Because the restaurant isn't that big, if you get a pair of patrons who decide to start chain-smoking away, it really kills the environment for everyone else.

Rude staff at the bar got it started poorly. This restaurant is super crowded...not in the popular sort of way but in the fact that the tables are packed in super tight. Hope you don't get put near the "aisle" because you will be bumped into repeatedly by waitstaff and other customers. Food was ok but I would not recommend their seafood. Kids meals were pretty pricey.

Solid food, The prices have beeing going up at a steady pace since Comparis opened though but the food is good and the pizza is very good. Carry out pizza is quite a bit cheaper than eating the pizza in.

I go there at least a few times a month. I would recommend the tortellini with blush sauce and sun dried tomatoes. And ask for Aaron's section.

This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants to visit in DTP (not that there are too many choices, but still). It is in the perfect location and is wonderful in the summer for "people watching" because of this. The food has always been delicious, fresh and up to par. I have always been content and happy with the service here. No complaints and I am always happy to come here when in the area!!

Didn't even have a chance to eat...even though they had multiple four tops available outside on a sunday afternoon they refused to sit my wife and I because we were only a group of two??? I guess they would rather hope that multiple groups of four come in than seat a group of two, with a ridiculous rule like that as our first impression we will not be returning

Comparis is good. I'm half Italian, so maybe nothing taste like grandma's. The waitstaff is always nice here, and I really wish they would expand. I always feel relatively cramped here. However, the staff never makes you feel rushed, no matter what day it is. I've eaten here multiple times, and my companions always seem to like it more than I do. The menu is pretty much the same as 3 years ago, but everything I've had is good. I wish they would do a little number with the olive oil on the tables, which is kinda lacking, because it tastes very vinegar-y. Save room for dessert, 'cause it is always really good. Wine list is fairly extensive, but could have more inventive selections. Everyone who has ever gotten their pizza that I've been with has loved it. I am a fan of the grilled portabella. The pasta is just ok, the sauces are pretty basic. It's also pretty pricy in my opinion, considering the quality and quantity.

Food was great, bread stick were sensational. Expect about an hour wait on the weekends for so-so service.

I walked into Comparis expecting a huge variety of seafood as they are posted to be with their expected Italian menu. I was ok with the few selections of fish which were only Salmon, Scallops, Roughy (Deep Sea Perch) and Baccalà , which I was going to order until I asked if this was the true dried and rehydrated cod sold in wooden crates as I am used to seeing. Server was great and honest. The Baccalà is not cod, and why they call it Baccala is beyond me. They use Orange Roughy for their Baccala dish. There are also classic appetizers like Escargot and Not-Fresh calamari. The Calamari is the thick strips which are pressed together in a processing plant and fried or saute'd in house. For an appetizer, I ordered an antipasti type plate which consisted of a couple slices of prosciutto, soppressata, few black and green olives, and a couple chunks of parmesan cheese with two pepperocini on a red pepper sprinkled plate. It was very cheaply organized and the two selections of meat with one cheese was very disappointing. Next was the soup for me and salad for my Partner. My soup was a Philadelphia cheese steak soup. It was incredible, but it's certainly not Italian. My partners salad was a decent Caesar with a classic homemade Caeser dressing (tough to go wrong here). Cold plate and lettuce, croutons were a plus, but nothing special. I ordered the Salmon which I had to send back because it was over cooked. I ordered it Med-Rare. Upon it's return, it was pretty tasty and the carrots and Italian green beans were ok. My company had the Pepper Seared Scallops with the same veg and rice. The scallops were drizzled with a balsamic reduction. They were ok. I have had way better at many other restaurants. All and all, the service is excellent, but the ambience doesn't back the food. I feel like I was at classy place expecting the finest of dining and being served something from a mom and pop restaurant that hired a bunch of young aspiring cooks attempting to be Chef's. There is potential. The food and presentation just lacks luster and experience for the atmosphere.. All and all I give it 3 outta 5 stars. Good service, Over-hyped, and mediocre food with poor presentation. Do not go here for Seafood, I may go back to try what they really are. Pure Italian restaurant!

Excellent from start to finish... Hostess was polite and friendly. Our server (Jordan) was the man! He came to the table right on time, greeted us, sold me 3 apps ( as a good server should do) and they all came out in a timely manner. We split one entree, the white fish, and it was good. Will def be back :)

Campari's is a very nice place to meet friends/family for dinner or just to go out with the wife. The servers have always been friendly and knowledgeable. The wine selection is good and the food definitely above average. The decor and atmosphere are very nice but relaxed. If you are able to eat outside in the summer it can be beautiful in the Plymouth main square. Definitely worth a try if you are around regularly

Compari's has excellent Italian food and atmosphere. I've been here twice now. The first time was at a work luncheon. This place is a hit at the office. I ordered the butternut squash ravioli lunch special. $7 The dish was saucy, just how I like it. =) Squash was not sweet and the sauce complimented the dish quite well. Although, I was kinda bummed it wasn't on the main dinner menu. The second was last night with a friend. I had the house salad with bleu cheese dressing. It was nice and thick with huge chunks of fresh bleu cheese. The main dish was eggplant parm with a side of spaghetti. I substituted for angel hair pasta with blush sauce. I cannot even describe how exquisite the blush sauce was. It was not runny at all. Stayed atop of the thin angel hair. They used fresh tomatoes in the sauce and spices. The eggplant parm had crispy breading and was tender inside. Very good. =). I had enough left over for lunch the next day. This meal was around $12.50. Well worth it. The tiramisu was lovely too. but, a little heavy on the chocolate sauce. That was around $4 oh yeah. Compari's is open to the restaurant next door. it's a neat feature. total bill for me split between my friend and I = $15

First off, I want to give five stars to the bartender and Alex, our server (we actually sat in the more upscale dining room, but ordered off Compari's menu). We came with a party of 13, and Alex couldn't have handled our boisterous birthday group with any more class or finesse. We never waited for drinks, food was served hot and he handled all of our questions brilliantly. The bartenders made my martinis dirty, just the way this girl likes 'em ... and when I had to leave the table before ordering to take a work call, he circled back, got my order, and managed to serve my plate along with the rest of the group. Bravo! The food was good Italian fare, but didn't blow my mind. I ordered a seafood pasta. The tomato sauce pretty much was "red sauce" -- not a whole lot of flavor or character -- but my scallops were cooked perfectly, and the pasta was al dente. I'd give the food three or three and a half stars, but the army of busboys, waiters and hostesses who teamed together to make our group dining experience a success gave us five star service from the front door till we paid the bill. I know I sound like a shill -- trust me, I don't know anyone who works there. I just couldn't believe how seamless the whole operation went off (plus, there were three other large groups in the same room). If they can keep up the service despite how PACKED downtown Plymouth gets on the weekend, this is one Michigan biz that shouldn't ever worry about going out of business.

Absolutely reliable for great food with great service every time I've ever been here.

i must admit this was an awesome restaurant! the swordfish was cooked perfectly! Charred, seasoned, awesome.....all that came with it complimented it. Nothing overwhelming. wild rice and asparagus. Service was great also! Ate outside on a perfect evening!

This place is a go-to dinner spot for my wife and I. Good service, good food, and good location....other bars within the area make this place a good spot to start.....or to finish.
